Adults enjoying media targeted towards children is not a new concept. I think it’s very strange when people criticize the non-target audience for watching and really enjoying shows like Steven Universe or Gravity Falls because a really big part of my childhood was shows like The Amanda Show and Lizzie Mcguire and Arthur, and I remember my parents would always sit in front of the TV and watch them with me. And for a long time I thought they were just supervising me, making sure I didn’t stumble upon something on HBO I wasn’t supposed to see at that age, but I asked my dad once why they always watched television with me and he said because he and my mother enjoyed the programs. They were cute and entertaining and amusing and they liked them. And I think it’s very out of line when adults and young adults are almost demonized for enjoying children’s programming.
