5041) I didn't start questioning my identity until after I started dating my cis boyfriend. It caused a lot of problems because he was straight and I just wanted him to be cool with me being male. We did end up breaking up because I felt too guilty for putting him through it all, but in the end we didn't let it change our friendship and he is now my biggest supporter. To anyone else going through similar things, don't compromise yourself for a relationship. Those who matter won't mind your journey!

I love a Trans Woman. I love her like nothing else in the entire universe. I have loved her as a man, woman, and most importantly, a human being. I read this blog and see despair, difficulty; it breaks my heart. Transitioning is hard, and even my beautiful girl finds it incredibly difficult. But, I want you all to know that there is someone out there who can love you, You are brave & strong. You CAN be loved. You do have beauty. Dr. Seuss had it right, those who matter don't mind <3

Sorry, the one saying, "Say what you want, and do what you feel. Because those who matter won't mind and those who mind don't matter," is by Dr. Suess.

Hello Anon,

I’m dreadfully sorry to you (and others who have sent similar messages to us about this), but the source of the quote is, most likely, utterly anonymous.

A great tool that we use for checking quotes is the website Quote Investigator. The specific article on this quote (and its many variations, as evidenced by the differences between the option you just quoted and the version we posted) can be found here:

A quick summary: a version of this quote had likely already entered public use by the late 1930s, to the extent that the quote was common enough to be referenced in professional writing. Original credit has variously been given to Sir Mark Young, Bernard M. Baruch, George Ludcke, and yes, Theodor Geisel, better known by the pseudonym of Dr. Seuss.

Unfortunately, Dr. Seuss is probably the least likely candidate for being the creator of this witticism, as it was not popular attributed to him until the early 21st century, and he himself passed away in 1991.

We have therefore made our post with the citation “Anonymous,” but tagged the post with “Dr Seuss” and “Bernard M Baruch,” two of the most popular false-citations for this quote, for organizational purposes and ease of search.
