High Tech Soul: The Creation of Techno Music (2006)

HIGH TECH SOUL is the first documentary to tackle the deep roots of techno music alongside the cultural history of Detroit, its birthplace. From the race riots of 1967 to the underground party scene of the late 1980s, Detroit’s economic downturn didn’t stop the invention of a new kind of music that brought international attention to its producers and their hometown. Featuring in-depth interviews with many of the world’s best exponents of the artform, High Tech Soul focuses on the creators of the genre – Juan Atkins, Derrick May, and Kevin Saunderson – and looks at the relationships and personal struggles behind the music. Artists like Richie Hawtin, Jeff Mills, Carl Craig, Eddie Fowlkes and a host of others explain why techno, with its abrasive tones and resonating basslines, could not have come from anywhere but Detroit.

1/15/2014 Kings @ Timberwolves W 111-108

 - Jimmer Fredette, the back-up point guard, dishes it to the back-up small forward Derrick Williams on the fast break for the alley-oop. Derrick Williams went for 7/11 FG for 16 points against his former team.

 - Isaiah Thomas, the starting point guard, dishes it to the starting small forward Rudy Gay on the rebound leading to an alley-oop. Rudy Gay went for 12/19 FG, ending with 33 points, 5 rebounds and 6 assists.

 - Isaiah Thomas had 26 points and 7 assists, and Demarcus Cousins had 20 points and 11 rebounds.

 - Kings controlled this game for a majority of the game and got sloppy towards the end and almost let this game slip away. Way too many turnovers in the fourth quarter. Kevin Love had 2 nice clutch treys in the fourth, and Rudy Gay answered one of them with a trey himself. But Kings closed out with free throws.

 - Next game is against Rudy Gay’s first team he ever joined in the NBA, the Memphis Grizzlies.

Kings Record: 14-23

Take care,
