this-was-the-most-time-consuming-thing

Someday I will stop talking about these two dresses. Today is not that day.

Grace Kelly’s wedding dress (designed by Helen Rose, two-time Oscar-winning costume designer) is a masterpiece. Rich materials, exquisitely tailored. Part of what makes this gown so appealing, though, is its proportions. The cummerbund extends from the waist to the underbust, which gives visual lift to the bust. The bodice is essentially three different sections—the cummerbund (solid), the bust (lace over solid), and the upper chest/shoulders (lace alone). Each section is roughly the same size, meaning the rule of thirds has been applied. Everything is well-balanced visually.

Another important thing to remember is that women in the 50s generally wore different undergarments than women today. Kelly was most likely wearing a girdle, which helped shape that slim waist, and the skirt had a significant crinoline and probably had hip padding as well to achieve that silhouette.

Kelly’s dress was produced by a team of 36 seamstresses in six weeks. Despite the close fit of the lace bodice, seams are virtually impossible to find. Hiding seams in lace is not an impossible task but it is time-consuming; it involves overlapping lace appliqué on the seams. The swan neck is also perfect, flowing without wrinkles over her collarbones and laying flat against her neck. No matter how she holds her arms, there is no strain on the bodice.

And then we get to JMo’s cosplay version.

The proportions are off. The cummerbund doesn’t come up high enough. The result is the illusion of a low bust. There’s also no excuse for the bottom edge to be flipping up like that. She isn’t wearing a girdle (which, I can’t really blame her) and also has little or no hip padding, so the dress as a very flat silhouette. The skirt pleats are weirdly off-center, but the line of buttons is not (how is that even possible?). With her arms out on either side, the bodice is straining across the upper chest. The swan neck isn’t flush like it’s supposed to be and the lace edge isn’t even symmetrical. It’s closer to the buttons on one side than the other. An attempt was made to mirror the lace across the placket but the sides are off by enough to make it look weird.

And those seams are visible from space.

Sure, this is a recognizable copy, but in the same way that Yo-Yo Ma and your eleven-year-old nephew both play the cello. At this stage, I’m forced to assume that the costume department had two days and one fitting with JMo, or that they’re actively trolling everyone with this thing.

*Strums guitar*

I have nothing against killing animals for food and I often eat meat myself but we need to stop creating an industry in which animals are abused and most of their parts go to waste.

*Guitar picks up*

If we keep taking advantage of our limited resources in order to provide a large amount of meat most of which goes to waste then we’ll end up with nothing but a bunch of diseased animals and polluted water.

*Sick drumbeat kicks in*

However this does not mean it’s okay to shame people for eating meat. It’s no one person’s fault that the industry has gotten out of hand. We’ve created a society over many years in which it’s quite hard to transition from large industries back to local and environmentally-friendly businesses.

*Killer bassline starts*

And we can’t ignore the fact that the same thing has happened to the fruit/vegetable industry, it’s just a lot easier to point fingers when cute little animals are hurt.

*Killer guitar solo*

It’s time we start practicing sustainable agriculture and take away power from out of control industries such as General Mills who own most of what we consume on a regular basis and don’t give a shit as long as they get money.

#optomstudies here with a post about university studying! I’ve been reading many study tips masterposts in the community, but some of these won’t work that well for university. So here are 3 tips for adapting to uni study!

Loose leaf? Notebook? Neither! (but if you must choose between the two, I recommend hole-punched loose leaf - easy to file :D) There is just no time, especially once you get to your higher years, that you will be able to write paper notes especially considering the level of detail that you are required to learn things to get good marks.

When I was studying therapeutics, lectures were more like an essay crammed into 60-80 ppt slides! Using 10pt Calibri, 1.15 spacing, custom 1cm margins - I still had 12 pages for a 2 hour lecture (see below)

Two lectures / week, for 12 weeks! Although this was the most-content heavy subject, my other courses were still way too time consuming to write notes for. Sadly, you can’t summarise much, because MCQs pick at details.

As for laptops, cheap netbooks are only ~$300, but I’d recommend these really great student laptops

And yet, you have to wonder why #studyblr doesn’t have more digital notes? Isn’t every studyblr the owner of a computer as a tumblr user? I’m trying to encourage everyone to feel more confident about posting their digital notes as part of the “#studyblrs get real” tag (see here), so if you have some great typed study notes, please tag me with #optomstudies and I’ll be happy to reblog you!

Read through your lecture slides so that you have a basic grasp of the topic before classes. If you have any readings assigned, do them too. This means that you’ll

  • go in knowing what concepts you need clarified
  • revise one more time (remember the forgetting curve?)
  • be much better placed to answer questions and participate in class discussions (get those participation marks!! ;))
  • find it easier to follow along with much more complicated topics than you’ve experienced in high school!
  • remember a lot more of the topic when you come back to revise later on!

Yes, I know, studyblr blasphemy right? But this is what you do when strapped for time. Particularly with biological/chemical sciences, lecturers will have basically summarised what you need to know on the slides.

Before your lectures, read through the slides (should take about 30 minutes for a 2 hour lecture) and mark/circle anything you don’t understand - then when you get to the lecture, jot down a clarification in your own words based on the professor’s explanation. Eventually, you’ll find that you have studied the topic well enough to not need your own footnotes.

It takes a little experience to know which professors have slides you can study off (tip: it’s usually the ones where you don’t have to write down much) but it’s totally worth the time you save!

Hope this has been an informative post about the differences between university and high school studying! Please follow me for weekly study tips, study pics and now kpop vocab lists!

My favorite part about this kiss is how intense Dylan/Stiles’ face is. He’s kissing her like she’s his lifeline, the air he breathes. He’s so consumed in this moment, in this kiss, in Lydia. You can feel how much he loves her and how much this moment means to him. This is everything Stiles has spent the past 10 years building up to, and the intensity with which he kisses Lydia is like none I’ve ever seen. Lydia holds onto to Stiles, kissing him back just as forcefully, and we get this incredible moment that seems to stop time. I just can’t get over how much you can tell that this is quite possibly the most important day of Stiles’ life just by the expression he makes when kissing Lydia. It’s gentle and intense and heartbreaking all at the same time. You can feel the gentleness he possesses for Lydia, but it’s also this intense fire that burns hot enough to consume them both. It’s so amazing that these two completely opposite things can exist simultaneously in just one expression. Dylan never ceases to amaze me with how much he understands Stiles as a character and his unconditional love for Lydia.

FINALLY! It is done! To be honest, this might have been my most time consuming project as of now! It was so much fun, though! I’m a little late to this - started this around PAX when the Anti appearance was a thing.

I know that Jack said these two will most likely never meet for Anti related reasons, but I mean, a drawn universe is alright, right? rIGHT?

Anyway! I based the Anti in this one on the one I drew a few months back, which is why he’s now missing his eye. I tried something new with Sam, drew Dark for the first time in my life (I’m very sorry) and a little Tiny Box Grim being angry on his shoulder! If you look closely, you’ll be able to see that lil’ rectangular thingy in Anti’s pocket. A phone with Jack trapped inside?? I don’t know. I thought it would be a neat idea if he was able to switch places with Jack as long as he has a ‘container’ to put his consciousness in, which would be an electronic device - a phone. Wee. :D

But trust me I can draw nice things, too. Like happy and all. I’m just incredibly obsessed with both of these characters because they honestly have a lot of potential! Gosh, I want to edit and draw so much more. gNARF.

But’cha! I wanted to thank Jack and Mark for inspiring me so much and their amazing, heartwarming communities for being so welcoming and nice to me. I’m having the time of my life in relation to motivation at the moment and I want to use that energy for good!

With that being said; I’m having two more weeks before my finals which means I have lots of time to create things! Let’s go! :D

Proudz!

Facts, Logic, and Canon: Lucy’s feelings for Natsu

Fairy Tail seems to be reaching it’s climax, and as such the pairings in which Hiro Mashima is pushing for is becoming more and more obvious. Likewise, the pushback from fans who oppose these ships is becoming more and more apparent, and I am beginning to notice a disturbing trend. Discussions about pairings are becoming less and less about facts and logical interpretations of the canon material, and becoming more and more about accusing the other fanbase of acting in ways that triggers them. No more. It’s time for a return to form.

This is the cover page of chapter 416. Now, I cannot possibly cover all of Natsu and Lucy’s relationship in one post. There is simply far too much content. To make things far less time consuming for me, I will limit this post to only material since the X791-X792 timeskip. Material from the omake specials, movie, OVA, and anime, will also be largely excluded. Most of the fanservice will also be excluded. I simply cannot go through all of the material in one post.

This is from chapter 419.  After Fairy Tail disbanded, the one Lucy most wanted to see was Natsu. This is not an opinion, and there is not much room for interpretation. Plain and simple, this is definitive proof that Lucy missed Natsu the most.

Lucy chased after Natsu when she found out he was leaving from his letter. Lucy did not have the same reaction to anyone else when Fairy Tail disbanded - and seeing as none of them purposely tried to avoid her when they left, it would have been far easier for her to follow them.

This is Lucy’s outburst for Natsu leaving her behind. This was in response to Natsu criticizing Gray for leaving Juvia behind.

When Lucy thought Dimaria was about to stab out her eyes, her last thought was Natsu. Interpret this how you will. Lucy may have been calling out for Natsu to save her. Or she may have been worried about what would happen to him. Or she may have simply thought of him because it gives her hope. Either way, all roads lead back to the same conclusion.

Upon waking up from the aftermath, finding Natsu was Lucy’s first priority. In fact, Lucy was in such a rush to find Natsu that she forgot she was naked.

When Lucy finally arrived at where Natsu was, she rushed to hug him. If it wasn’t obvious how much Lucy cared about Natsu by her actions and thoughts up until this point, it should be fairly obvious now. It will continue to get more obvious below.

Not to say that Lucy doesn’t care about Juvia and Gray’s conditions, but you can clearly tell that Lucy was the most worried for Natsu. This is evident in both the way she carries Natsu…

… and by the way she cradles him after Irene’s attack.

Lucy is willing to strip down and use her body heat to warm up Natsu.

Upon Natsu waking up, Lucy can be shown visibly shaking due to relief.

Lucy’s first instinct is to hug him once he wakes up. Once again, you get Lucy calling Natsu a dummy. You get Lucy saying how worried she was over Natsu. You get Lucy so caught up in the moment, she forget she’s naked.

…And this is Lucy’s reaction when he thanks her.

If everything up until this point wasn’t clear enough, this is how Lucy acts when she is drunk during the Christmas Special.

I’ve said this before, and I will say it again. If you’ve been keeping up with Fairy Tail and are not in constant denial because of personal bias, you can clearly see that Lucy has feelings for Natsu. Even with a reasonable degree of bias, you cannot deny that Lucy having feelings a higher probability than her not. It is only when you are unreasonably biased against NaLu, that you would deny this. The evidence for is overwhelming compared to the evidence against, and we are long past the the point of plausible deniability. I will stand by what I say, and what I say is that Lucy having feelings for Natsu is the simplest and most direct conclusion after having observed her various actions throughout the most current arc.

In 1947, Tove Jansson began one of her most famous and most challenging art projects ever. She was ordered to paint two large frescos to the dining room of the Helsinki city hall, by Erik von Frenckell. Tove began the ambitious work with passion to celebrate the time after war in Finland. Each step she reported to her “beloved Vifslan”, Vivica Bandler.

Vivica Bandler was Tove’s first female lover. Their love was passionate and all-consuming. Tove worshipped Vivica and described that loving her had changed everything. All things felt new and all feelings were more intense. And Tove was not shy about showing this love, even if she did it in secret (note, homosexuality was illegal in Finland until 1971 and listed as a disease until 1981).

One of the boldest and bravest gestures was in one of the frescos ordered by von Frenckell (Vivica’s father, actually).

The blonde woman smoking her cigarette is Tove herself and the dark-haired woman dancing behind her is Vivica. Painting them so close and so visible was a brave move on Tove’s part and served to fuel the rumours around them. Tove laid out her love for all the world to see, but in a careful way.

Tove and Vivica even appear in Moomin books; as Thingumy and Bob from Finn Family Moomintroll (1948). Their original Swedish names, Tofslan and Vifslan, give away the connection. These two speak in a secret language only they can understand and are running away from The Groke who wants to steal their precious gem; the most beautiful thing in the world. You do not need deep analysis to see what the story represents.

Eventually Tove’s and Vivica’s love ended like all quick and passionate love stories; to it’s own impossibility. Like with about all her lovers, Tove still remained friends with Vivica. Hot summer turned to cool autumn in the book and the frescos were finished.

10 ways the grocery store is tricking you into spending more money

1. Purposefully disorienting customers

Stores are intentionally laid out in a disorienting way so that it takes more time to find what you’re looking for. And the more items you walk by, the more likely you are to make impulse buys.

2. “Charm pricing” and false promises

Grocery stores deliberately price items to make you think you’re saving money when you’re not really: There’s “charm pricing,” where an item is one or two cents below a round number (like $9.99).

3. Giant shopping carts

Those gargantuan shopping carts are intentionally designed like that to trick your brain: When you double the size of a shopping cart, consumers will buy 40% more, marketing consultant Martin Lindstrom told Today.

4. “Open the wallet” pricing

This technique involves placing seemingly cheap items (a big “SALE” sign must a mean big discount — right?) in proximity to the entrance, so you are tricked into believing you’re starting your shopping expedition by saving money.

5. Playing music — with a slow beat

In one study on the influence of music on consumers, published in in the journal Procedia Economics and Finance, respondents said pleasurable music in the background increased the likelihood they’d spend more time and money in the store — and thwarted their negative emotions.

6. Placing dairy far from the entrance

Dairy is one of the most popular grocery categories — and you may have noticed it tends to be miles from the entrance. That’s not a coincidence. This forces the consumer to walk by more grocery items and, you guessed it, exposes them to more opportunities to buy things they don’t need… like an ergonomic, bacteria-free sponge.

7. Putting popular items in the center of aisles

The most popular items and brands are often placed in the middle of aisles, which forces you to walk by way more products than you otherwise would. All those extra goodies you’re exposed to on your shopping mission increase the likelihood of an unplanned purchase. You came for the toilet paper, but left with a plate of pitted dates. Good for your fiber intake — bad for your budget.

8. Presenting a feast for the senses

The smell of freshly baked bread and rotisserie chicken is a more well-known tactic supermarkets use. When were hungry, we’re more likely to buy more. This effect is compounded by colorful produce up front, which can be pleasing and exciting to the eye. The combo of nice smells and pretty colors puts us in a good — or at least better — mood, making us more willing to make unplanned purchases.

9. Overwhelming shoppers with options

Literally tens of thousands of items are on offer in your average supermarket. And that demands a lot of decision-making. Brains scans examined by Bangor University, Wales, reveal that we can only keep this up for about 40 minutes, at which point we kind of get tired and give up. Once we’ve given up, we start to make emotional purchases — aka impulse buys — and this can lead to as much as 50% of purchases being unplanned.

10. Narrowing the checkout lanes

Grocery stores have also made their checkout lanes purposefully narrow. This is so that when you’re unloading, if you suddenly realize you’ve impulsively and regretfully thrown in a $15 small bottle of freshly squeezed orange juice, it’s too hard to get out of the checkout lane to go and put it back. My sincere advise…

Feel the excruciating pain. Shout it out from the top of your lungs. Cry your heart out until your eyes hurt. Have time for your unending flashbacks. Let it be. Don’t suppressed it. Let your emotions burn your whole system. Let your mind ignites it more. Let your feelings burn to ashes. Endure it until it makes you numb. Until you have no choice but to let it all flow. You need time to feel this. Reminisce everything until your head aches. Drown yourself of tears until you fall asleep. Do it for yourself because you need it. Do it as you wanted to, do it until you get tired and you have no choice but to breathe from that suffocating place you have been.

Your heart have been tortured numerous times that it kills you figuratively.

You deserve more than that.

Your life doesn’t depend on that someone. You have your family and your friends. You are loved. You’re precious.

You’re a lovely living creature. Too lovely that, that someone can’t handle you. It’s not your fault. It’s not that someone’s fault either. It’s the universe choice.

Because everything happens for a reason, we may know it know but soon we will. It’s either to save us from someone who’s not good for us or better than that. Let’s be thankful of this pain, it makes us feel alive. It makes us who we are in the near future.

Those negative emotions? Kill that too. Burn it with your whole system for you to be able to start new.

Keeping grudge is no good. Bitterness won’t take you somewhere. Regrets won’t take back time. Despair and loneliness won’t change anything. Don’t depressed yourself on something that had happened. Instead, be thankful and let it be the reason for the better version of you.

After burning all those emotions, make sure that there’s no debris left. Forgive even that someone is not sorry. Not because that someone needs it but because it will help you feel at ease. Have peace for yourself. Don’t let it consume you but don’t forget the lesson you’ve learned from it.

Most especially, take time for yourself. No one is pressuring you to move on that fast and you don’t have to pretend that you are. Time won’t heal scars but it will help you realize the significant things in life.

Don’t be hard for yourself.

Fighting!

Kaneki Selfishness and How Deep Down he Knows He’s Wrong

One of the major revelations that Seidou brought to Kaneki’s character is that Kaneki doesn’t really want equalization of ghouls, and that he is only doing this to keep himself living. However, when Amon asks him why he’s doing this and that he doesn’t understand Kaneki is surprising open about it.

Kaneki states for his first argument that even from his time as human that he is the same as a ghoul. He doesn’t sympathize and he sees a majority of ghouls as terrible monsters still. Yet, he understands there isolation and lack of  being able to consume different things. Ever since he was a child he separated himself from society never trying to forge relationships, unless someone reaches out to him. Which is shown most prominently with Hide and Touka, who reached out to him. He also in a consumer type of way never tried to experience the world or live to his highest potential.

He uses this explanation for why he doesn’t mind fighting for the rights for ghouls, because they remind him of himself. Which would have been a sufficient answer on that makes sense in that a lot of movements and organizations were started under pretenses like this. But then Kaneki states that he is selfish and that isn’t the only reason.

Kaneki says that he really can’t be on the side of humans because he while some are important he could care less about the rest. But out of the majority of the people that Kaneki deems important most of them are ghouls. So it’s very natural that he would have an inclination to helping them. Even though he still thinks that a majority of ghouls are evil.

Which Kaneki himself knows makes him a bad leader

It’s obvious that by this statement that he knows what he is doing is wrong, because he’s fighting for a select few. I think part of the reason he hasn’t been violent is that he’s trying to show that the ghouls with him are good, so that say if he did get his conversation and rights didn’t happen he could get a better life for ghouls that proved themselves to fight for humans.

Kaneki just isn’t fighting to save the world he’s fighting for an obligation to Arima and to keep those he cares about safe. But he’s blind in that he doesn’t care about those except that he deems important. Which goes so well with how he believes he’s isolated because this motivation shows it. He doesn’t care about society only about himself.

But, if you remember something in part one about how Kaneki was fighting for his friends more as a way to avoid being alone than protecting them. This takes on a whole new meaning of Kaneki only doing this to have a life that he sees worth living, with a better life for himself his friends where he is a hero and loved, which has been his most selfish desire.

how the signs deal with emotions

*check Moon and/or Mars sign

Fire signs (Aries, Leo, Sagittarius): They get very overwhelmed. It’s a huge build up of emotions and they feel trapped and overwhelmed. They try to relax and take deep breaths, and have a moment where they let it all go. They usually call or text a friend and unload/rant, and then they usually feel better. They like to take their mind off of it and go have fun or do something they enjoy to make them feel better.

Earth signs (Taurus, Virgo, Capricorn): They try to block it out and repress it, not wanting to deal with it. They try to analyze their emotions, trying to know how or why they are feeling this way. They try to solve the problem or make a plan to fix it. They don’t usually cry, but if they get frustrated or if it’s really serious, they will cry. They usually deal with it all internally and by themselves, which is just fine for them. They use logic and reason to help themselves feel better. They look for security when they are upset.

Air signs (Gemini, Libra, Aquarius): They try to understand what or how they are feeling before they accept they are feeling it. They try to see all of the factors and influences that would make them feel like that. Once they feel comfortable or they feel like they know what it is, they may go and talk to someone they trust. They talk it out and analyze it and make a plan of action. They don’t make a big deal out of it and once they get over it, that’s the end of it. They are known to distance themselves or get distant when emotional, as they are trying to figure it out by themselves.

Water signs (Cancer, Scorpio, Pisces): They feel everything so deeply, it consumes them. They can’t stop feeling it or thinking about it. They may cry for a bit, or they try and stop themselves from crying. They deal with it alone most of the time, but if they can’t, they go to someone they trust and break down to them. They ask for help and advice, trying to make sense of things. They usually like physical affection when upset or emotional, it helps them feel better.

Creating plots for your story

You feel like nothing is happening in your story. It’s lukewarm and dull. You are getting bored, the characters are getting bored, you have no idea what to do next… or even if you should rewrite the whole thing.

If so, this post will help you find new plots and subplots for your story.

The secret of finding plot is exploring possibilities. Most of the time, we settle for the first thing that comes to mind. Creating is not easy, it’s time and energy consuming, so we avoid it the most.

But there’s a shortcut… and that is: Listing.

Making lists is great way to discover ideas and find new paths for your story. Plus, it’s quite fun. Let’s start with a few basic lists.

- Create a list of dreams your main character could have

- Create a list of bad things that could happen to your main character

- Create a list of special physical features for your main character

- Create a list of places your main character could live in

Now, let’s jump into more detailed lists.

- Create a list of places within your fictional world

- Create a list of dreams for your antagonist

- Create a list of objects relevant to the story

- Create a list of realistic situations within your fictional world

- Create a list of feelings related to the story

- Create a list of  psychological issues your main character could go through

- Create a list of fears your main character could have

- Create a list of childhood memories for your main character

You can create your own list prompts as well. And also apply them to specific genres. For example, romance.

Once your lists are done, go back, read them all over again. 90% will be rejected, but 10% will shine in your eyes with fresh plot opportunities. Pick the most interesting items and create plots around them. These lists will also get you closer to the characters and the fictional world.

Ok but imagine how weird it would be to an alien that humans drink poisonous substances just to feel good (alcohol). Like the humans literally drink this stuff that is inherently bad for them because it makes them feel fun even though half the time it just upsets them or makes them mad, and they do this until they pass out.
Like the aliens would maybe accept the idea of humans drinking and be like “oh ok so that stuff makes them feel good”
But one day a new human has some of the drink and starts crying and trying to fight the other humans and so they take them to their sleeping quarters and the alien is like “could I borrow that bottle to test it?”
Because they have literally no idea what kind of substance could affect humans so differently when it’s the same thing
And they find out about it and what it does to humans and are like
“What the actual fuck
They will literally get poisoned and die if they have too much of this stuff and it can cause so many diseases but it’s fun for them like not even all of the time so most humans frequently consume it what the hell is wrong with them”
Like the aliens are p used to the idea of mild narcotics and things like how cats have catnip and stuff, but they’re not at all used to the idea of literally poisonous things being ingested for hit and miss effects that are considered mild by the species

Domestic Headcanons

Have some painfully domestic headcanons…

Bathroom
Everyone in the castle clearly shaves. Imagine Pidge sitting on a bench trying to shave her legs getting frustrated by the fact that the space raisor she’s using is cutting her now and then and Lance and Keith turning their attention to her and wincing in sympathy when they realize she’s going with the grain instead of against. Lance taking on the roll of big brother and shaking his head sitting down beside her. Keith getting a comical show out of the corner of his eye as he teaches the youngest paladin the way women are suppose to shave. Keith idly commenting on how it’s strange Lance would know that. Lance firing back how he has sisters, but then also admitting to shaving his underarms because why not? Hunk casually joining the fray looking at them all and telling them they’ll all weird as heck and they’re the best weirdos he’s ever known. Then telling them they have wax and why shave when you can wax?

Pidge: Wait so I’m suppose to pull the razor toward me?
Lance: Yeeees.
Pidge: That makes way more sense.
Hunk: Or you could just wax.
Pidge: No thanks I like having skin.
Keith: I’m with Pidge on this. Question is what are you waxing? You know what, forget I asked. I don’t want to know.

Foodies
Besides Hunk, other paladins do know how to cook. They just know how to cook differently. Pidge likes to improvise and sticks to cold dishes that utilize fruits and vegetables. She’s not a vegetarian per se as space doesn’t allow her that choice, however, it’s convenient not to have to cook. Keith is proficient with fish and stew related dishes. Though he’s known for catching any old thing deboning it and frying it. You might be eating space rat, but you’d never known because he know’s how to make it look appealing. Years in the desert will do that for a man. Lance is the king of all things tapas. Orderves and fancy little square cubes of cheese and the like. Also spices the man can spice anything just right. He flocks to light snacks and prepping them while a little time consuming is hella rewarding when people tell him how pretty it looks. Shiro bless the man knows how to make a solid hoagie! Bow down to the mightiest of all sandwiches as this man is gonna blow your socks off with the most stacked thing you’d ever seen. Though he’s known for his subs as well. If it’s a sandwich he probably influenced it somehow. He’s also got his special sauce Hunk can’t even place. Now that’s something!

Hunk: Is that … a tail?
Keith: It’s edible.
Lance: Well then uhm I’m just gonna leave this here.
Pidge: Did that just move?
Keith: Come on, I cooked it. It’s dead.
Hunk: Y’all ain’t allowed near the kitchen anymore.
Pidge: Hey you never even tried my food don’t ban me!

Sick days
Each of the paladins have their own methodology to curing what hurts most. Shiro’s preferable to getting those electrolytes up. Tons of sleep and ordering bed rest whether you want it or not. Keith’s a little less hands on, you might not see him while you’re sick. In fact he might be more scarce, but when you’re not looking tissue boxes, or items requested will arrive while you’re not looking. He slips in and out like a ninja posing as a nurse. You’ll even find a scribbled get well note somewhere by your bedside. Pidge is a germaphobe. If you thought keith was missing Pidge is nonexistent. She’ll send someone else in her stead with soup or tissues whatever the person needs. She’ll lend a tablet/communicator to the person so they can stay in touch, but under no circumstances is she going in there to get whatever you got going on. Hunk’s got your back, he’s there for you with soup, he’s the man making most the soup. Soup cures everything, if not that then a heating pad. Depending on what you need being an engineer helps too because he’s able to come up with some pretty soothing techniques or devices to work out whatever ales. Lance is the most compassionate, which is saying something considering how hands on Hunk is. He too will concoct foods to mend the ill although most are traditional recipes from his grandmother. He goes the extra step by giving shoulder rubs, back massages, or just sitting by your bed side and reassuring you you’re not dying from the plague.

Keith: Is this suppose to make my throat burn more? Also why am I so itchy?
Lance: That means it’s working.
Hunk: Uh, Lance?
Pidge: Pretty sure that means he’s allergic.
Lance: I’m so sorry.
Keith: [Too sick to even be angry.]
Pidge: Come on, healing pod for you now. Ew… sweaty. [Trying not touch touch exposed skin]

Laundry Day
Laundry day is a bit awkward for everyone. Many a time underwear and socks have been swapped out. Keith often finds his socks mismatched with Lance’s. It use to frustrated him to no end, but at this point he’s conceded defeat and just accepts the hand the universe has dealt him. Lance often finds his shirts getting mixed in with Pidge’s. He’s still not entirely sure how their clothes get mixed up with one another where as with his socks he’s pretty much had it with Keith. Though he realizes Keith seems fairly upset about the turn out too. For Pidge and Allura there’s one thing they hate most. Bra swapping, it’s unintentional and has lead to some fairly awkward conversations when one or the other has realized the bra they’re sporting is not theirs, but in fact is their teammates. The least favorite occassion was when all their pantie’s were bleached out. This resulted in Pidge giving up and going with boxers. The castle had a set of the smallest ones, no one questions it anymore when they pop up in the wash they know whose they are. Often Shiro was the one in charge of folding most of the clothes alongside Coran. It’s a thankless job, but oddly rewarding. It’s just mundan but interactive enough to keep his mind from wandering into dark subjects. With Shiro out of the picture laundry sorting has fallen onto most everyone and they get together on one day out of the week and quietly sort through clothes. The occasional “I think I got your sock,” and “this is yours” is muttered amongst the group. It has some how become a training exercise as sock fights are now officially a thing. It’s a fun way to unwind, but often resorts in Coran telling them to be serious when he walks in on someone wearing undergarments on their head nominated as Lord of the Laundry.

Pidge: I dub the Lord of Laundry winner of this week’s sock fight.
Lance: Did you just put your bra on my head?
Pidge: Naw, it’s Allura’s. [Smug grin.]
Lance: WHAT?! [Tosses it off lighting fast.]
Pidge: I was kidding, it was Hunk’s.
Hunk: Fuck you guys.

10 Best Arrowverse Supporting Characters

#5. Iris West
Iris West is the character on this list whose “destiny” fans can be most certain about. As in the comics, it seems like the creative team is wasting very little time getting she and Barry set up for a life together – which is good, since their grandkids are eventually major players in the world of The Flash.

Played with charm and intelligence by Candice Patton, Iris is one of the most likable characters on the show, and a character you always want to see more of. There’s a reason that even beyond the impact it would have on Team Flash, the fandom was shaken to see her character getting killed over and over again these last few weeks.

If there’s an area where we would like to see a little change, it’s in the fact that once she became “in the know” about Barry’s secret, Iris has become almost completely consumed by the Team Flash side of things, and has had very little time for her own personal or professional life. This could be a plot point – certainly her idea a few weeks ago that she has nothing much to hang her hat on if she were really to be killed by one of The Flash’s villains speaks to this – but it would be nice to see such a smart, independent woman have just a little bit of independence on this show. It seems like Betty Cooper on Riverdale has written more stories for her high school paper than Iris has all season.
