This Must Be The Band is a Talking Heads tribute band, so I automatically love them. BUT I loved them even more after seeing them play at the Yacht Club in Iowa City. The set had me dancing the whole night. I love Talking Heads so much…
Thirty years after the performance first captivated theatre audiences, fans and film critics, you’d hardly even notice that that silhouette isn’t David Byrne’s and that the players behind him aren’t the Talking Heads. The name of this band is This Must Be The Band.
For the last seven years, the group has toured the Heads’ catalogue from Costa Mesa, California to New York City. And while they’re always well-received their most popular date is undoubtedly the annual hometown Stop Making Sense recreation — a note-for-note, prop-for-prop performance of what’s often called “the best concert film of all time.” Last November, they played in front of 2,000 bouncing fans, a near-sold out crowd at Chicago’s historic Riviera Theatre, almost the size of the performance it’s restaging.
That was THE best tribute band i have ever seen. No joke. This Must Be The Band. They’re all super cute but damnnn the “David Byrne ” guy (Charlie?) is hot! (I got a pic maybe ill post it later.) It was super fun and they added some cool little parts to make it unique but they nailed the songs down. The girls had really good dance moves.
Oh man it was so much fun.
They have another show here that will be a Stop Making Sense recreation (big suit and all!) that i will for sure be going to.
Glad i went.
For five years One Direction has been over worked and controlled and bogged down by contracts and controlling managements. Being told what to do and where to go must get quite tiring. Most bands have year breaks between albums and touring for that album and take time to have families and relax. Having to write, record, promo and your four albums in four years is unnatural. You are bond to be over worked and exhausted. It’s not normal and the boys need a break. They need a time to be themselves for five years they’ve been One Direction and associated with each other. Maybe they just want time to be them or time to do their own projects. They’ve worked so hard they deserve to choose what they want to do. Id rather them decide on their own to stay a band than be forced by contracts .
