i love that we are all proud of namjoon, regardless of your thoughts and opinions on bts, you have to admit he is doing very very well with the english and i’m very proud of him. not only is he and the band winning an international award, they are in a foreign country surrounded by a language most of them are not comfortable with. the stress of a billboard music award and the language barrier must be putting the whole band in an extreme place of anxiety, and namjoon is doing an incredible job of keeping his members calm while handling communicating in a whole other language. thank you namjoon.

Sometimes I wonder how normal people manage to not get obsessed about…literally everything! Im in love with at least 23729 bands, books, tv shows, historical characters, movies…idk stones?
I mean how do they…live? How can the even breath without wanting to talk about those things 24/7? God that must be so boring.

The bulk of this sudden appreciation of tkc seems to center around cartercy, so ... Sadie Kane headcanons? Any thoughts on our magic girl?

tbh I think it started with ladie/ladizel, but I think people did hop upon the Cartercy ship a lot quicker. That aside, sure!

  • bi af, so freaking bi
  • Like she’s such a mess around pretty girls. She likes to think that she’d be super smooth, but nope
  • totally had a crush on Lacey
  • Her hair is actually incredibly frizzy, and she gave up straightening it after she left England
  • Will kick your ass if you make fun of her accent, but actually loves making fun of it herself. She’s allowed to of it, but you sure ain’t
  • Owns more leather jackets than socks, and loves wearing colourful and glittery shoes regardless of how impractical they might be
  • Carter bought her an electric guitar for her birthday once, and she spent the rest of the year learning how to play her favourite songs on it
  • Idc what Rick says, this girl is into Rock and Roll, not Adele
  • If a piece of her clothing has a pocket(s), then you can bet there’ll be a packet of chewing gum in there
  • Doodles on whatever surface she can kind when she’s bored and will use your arm if you don’t keep it close
  • She must have made some Harry Potter jokes sometime in her life, I mean come on, she’s magic and grew up in England. And if Carter never said ‘Yer a wizard Sadie’ then I’d be deeply offended
  • Can pick up new languages really quickly, which is good since she really wants to travel the world when she’s older
  • I’m sure she must have wanted to start a band sometime in her life, inspired by all those cheesy Disney Channel shows and films, regardless of the fact that she knew no one who could play an instrument
  • Likes using English phrases to confuse the fuck out of people
  • When she gets angry, her accent becomes so strong that no one can understand her, which just makes her more angry
  • Plays her music so loud that everyone around her can clearly hear it and worries about how that’ll affect her later in life
  • If she can’t think of a comeback, she’ll just flip you off
  • Rick Rolls people when she’s bored. Carter hates her for it
  • If you insult cats then she’ll pin you down and rant about how you’re wrong for an hour straight
  • Has five thousand pairs of broken earphones hanging around that she can’t be bothered to get rid of
wow I came out with a lot more than I thought I would…

Couple Items

When your boyfriend suggested you two get a few couple items you thought it was cute. He had a tendency of buying you a lot of jewelry and you’d just make him return it. His taste was just a little over the top and too expensive. You were hoping that shopping together would mean you could hit up a few local shops and get a matching phone charm, or cute couples shirts. But of course, Joon Kyung wasn’t that simple. When he said he wanted to shop in Gangnam, it should have been your red flag that he wanted something over the top.

“Yah, Oppa please put that down that’s expensive.” you pouted. He’d dragged you all around the city going from Versace boutiques to Armani stores and buying all of these outfits and bags that you just know you’re not going to wear.

Joon Kyung held up the gold chain, inspecting it with the jeweler. “But you wanted matching things. Let’s get a whole outfit.”

“I meant something cute and meaningful-That chain cost more than my car.” you crossed your arms over your chest.

He grinned looking over “We can fix that too. Matching couple cars? I could get you one in rose gold?”

“But you love Rose Gold, it’ll match your phone”

You sighed holding his hand. “Please, I don’t even wear chains. And don’t even think about buying me a car.”

He smiled pecking your lips. “I’m probably still going to buy you a car.”

Band (Part 4)

Yet more stories from my crazy college band. (Kenny makes an appearance. You’re welcome.)

- *Alto sax player pushing Kenny in a computer chair.*

- Percussionist: I can’t find something.
Alto sax player: Well it looks like I found your salty ass attitude, bitch.
Percussionist: I wasn’t looking for that.

- Kenny: *Looking up at like the 12 foot+ ceiling* Is that black mold?
*Everyone looks up at ceiling and then back at Kenny, nobody answered him.*

- One of our potential pieces for our spring concert is Hamilton’s My Shot…. But there’s a part for a rapper. If we can find a rapper that can actually rap, we will do the song.

- Sax player: We should do a show called, “Housewives of *insert county name* County.”

I live in a town of Hicks.

- Our band room is on the other side of campus from the theatre. So, it takes half an hour+ to move equipment.

It’s a pain. When they built this school, the architect must have hated band kids.

- We have a band lounge with couches. Apparently they fit 12 people on the largest sofa before it broke. Like the supports just snapped in half.

- One of the band alum left a birthday card in his locker…. It was a little Hamster card that danced and played Tequila when you pressed a button. It lived in the band lounge for awhile. Nobody knows what happened to it.

- During the pep band game where we had some newbies, my band director SCREAMED during this song. I’m pretty sure she scared a few kids.

- Band director: *Drawing something on board* This is our new tattoo idea…. I made it bad on purpose so nobody would actually get it tattooed on their body.
Bass clarinet: I’ll get it tattooed.
Band director: Please don’t.

- Bass trombone: I’m pretty sure we can’t talk about this without sounding racist.

To all the filmmakers and aspiring filmmakers in the TJLC Community:

I swear, once all of this crazy is over and Johnlock is canon we must band together to make a documentary/mockumentary about our fandom’s experience. It will include all of the metas, theories, art, not to mention countless interviews of people on here for those who are keen and how despite everyone mocking, doubting and opposing us, we believed, we saw it all through and we were damn right. And we’ll title it Johnlock: We Fucking Knew It.

Hey, you're German, right? I've got a huge favour to ask of you. I've been studying German for a few years, and I plan on studying there for a year. Before that, I wanna improve my language skills, so I've been wondering if you could tell me about some good original German movies? I don't want to watch dubbed ones, I've heard they're horrible. Thank you so much! Love your blog, by the way.

Dubbed movies aren’t actually half bad - at least to movies dubbed in other languages. Trust me, I’ve watched both Spanish and French dubbed movies, they were way worse. This is what we like to call “Jammern auf hohem Niveau” - complaining even though everything is pretty good. You’ll find that Germans are a people of complainers; we like to complain about everything. We are never content :)

Still, I’m really really excited that you’re interested in my culture and HELL YES THERE ARE A BUNCH OF AWESOME GERMAN MOVIES. Here are some highly acclaimed ones and some of my favourites, I hope all links work.

  • 12 Meter ohne Kopf (a movie about a German pirate, who allegedly walked 12 meters after being beheaded in order to save his crew)
  • Auf der anderen Seite (a really bautiful sort of episodic movie connecting the lives of three families, both German and Turkish)
  • Barfuss (a movie about a girl suffering from PTSD, who is saved mostly accidentally from committing suicide by a dude cleaning the clinic she is in, and then follows him around everywhere, and they fall in love. Seriously, onely one of two movies by Til Schweiger worth watching)
  • Buddenbrooks (the story of a very rich merchant family and their downfall…a really famour book adaptation)
  • Das Boot (a movie about a German submarine and its crew during World War II. 100& must-see)
  • Das Experiment (A movie about a psychology experiment in prison, and how people react when given free reign over others. This should come with a huge trigger warning. It’s awesome, but also really super disturbing)
  • Das Leben der Anderen (You might’ve heard of that one, since it received an Oscar. It deals with surveillance in East Germany, and is, also, a must-see).
  • Das weiße Band (A movie about the oppressive and rigid society pre-World War I children grew up in.)
  • Das Wunder von Bern (This movie mixes the football world championships of 1954 (soccer for heathens who call other stuff football) and the story of a family that has to re-learn to live with each other when the father comes home after being a war captive for like…12 years MUST SEE)
  • Der Baader Meinhof Komplex (movie about famous German left extremists, the RAF and their terrorist attacks)
  • Der Schuh des Manitu (THE single best German comedy to ever exist. It makes fun of Cowboy movies/books that are super popular in Germany. You’ll cry of laughter seeing Native Americans with a Bavarian accent - which also means your language level should be really high, or you won’t understand a thing. Uh, obviously don’t watch if you think white comedians playing Native Americans is racist even when it’s satire)
  • Der Untergang (the last days in thr life of Adolf Hitler. You’ll probably have heard of that one, too. MUST SEE)
  • Die Blechtrommel (God, I don’t know how to describe this one. Basically, a movie about a child who decides he doesn’t want to grow anymore and observes the world of the adults around him?)
  • Die Fälscher (again, dealing with World War II, and people in concentration camps who were tasked with copying money of other countries)
  • Die fetten Jahre sind vorbei (a movie about three rebels who break into rich people’s houses only to rearrange their furniture and tell them to revise their morals - until one of them catches them in the act and they abduct him for a weekend. MUST SEE)
  • Die Feuerzangenbowle (THE classic movie. about the German school system. An older guy pretending to be a student at an elite high school. Also gave the name to a drink you will find a lot on Christmas markets)
  • Effie Briest (another novel adaptation about a young woman whose marriage is arranged and who loses everything when she cheats on her husband)
  • Ein Freund von mir (two guys who are completely different building a very strange friendship)
  • Elementarteilchen (about the lives of two brothers who were separated after birth, and the completely different lives they lead)
  • Fack Ju Göhte (no links yet, it only came out last year, a new comedy about the German school system, and absolute must-see, if you happen to find a link one day)
  • Gegen die Wand (a Turkish girl fake-marrying a German addict in an attempt to escae her family. MUST SEE)
  • Goodbye Lenin (a beautiful movie/comedy about a family and the German reunification. MUST SEE)
  • Im Winter ein Jahr (a family dealing with the loss of their son/brother)
  • Kabale und Liebe (a superb adaptation of Schiller’s play. bsjdhkdjk)
  • Kebab Connection (…I don’t even know how to describe this movie. Just watch it. Very multi/transcultural and hilarious)
  • Keinohrhasen (a douche has to do community service at a kindergarten - and finds that the girl he used to bully as a kid is now his superior. uh-oh. It’s super funny)
  • Kirschblüten - Hanami  (a dude travelling to Japan to understand and be close to his late wife)
  • Lola rennt ( a movie about a couple in a dangerous situation - and three possible outcomes)
  • Schiller (ah boy, this was a TV production, so I couldn’t find a link. A brilliant movie about the life of Germany’s best playwright, if you ask me)
  • Soul Kitchen (a comedy about a guy trying to keep his restaurant afloat and keeping his brother out of a life of petty crime)
  • Sophie Scholl - die letzten Tage (a movie about the last days in the life of Sophie Scholl and her brother, who were part of the resistance against the Nazis)
  • Vincent will Meer (a guy with tourette syndrom, a girl with an eating disorder and a guy with OCD break out of their psychiatric clinic to go to the sea. MUST SEE)
  • Was nützt die Liebe in Gedanken? ( a movie based on a real story, about a group of teenagers vowing to commit suicide once they do not feel any love anymore)
  • Wer früher stirbt ist länger tot (a comedy about a kid who does a lot of nonsense and when told that he is the reason his mother dies, blames himself, feares that he has to go to hell, and tries to make up for his sins by finding his dad a new wife. Hilarious. Again, tho, super strong Bavarian accent, beware!)

And if you want to watch a few good German TV-shows:

  • Türkisch für Anfänger (ABSOLUTE MUST SEE TV SERIES OMG WATCH IT!!! It deals with a German-Turkish patchwork family and it is hilarious)
  • Tatort Münster (basically a procedural crime show. There are a lot of Tatorts, but this is the only one that is always good. you’ll find a lot of the episodes on youtube)
  • Der letzte Zeuge (a show about a coroner solving crimes)

“I had to go back,” he said slowly. “For the sake of the men there, if for nothing else.”

“The men in the prison?” I said, surprised. “Were some of the Lallybroch men arrested with you?”

He shook his head. The small vertical line that appeared between his brows when he thought hard was visible, even by starlight.

“No. There were men there from all over the Highlands — from every clan, almost. Only a few men from each clan — remnants and ragtag. But the more in need of a chief, for all that.”

“And that’s what you were to them?” I spoke gently, restraining the urge to smooth the line away with my fingers.

“For lack of any better,” he said, with the flicker of a smile.

He had come from the bosom of family and tenants, from a strength that had sustained him for seven years, to find a lack of hope and a loneliness that would kill a man faster than the damp and the filth and the quaking ague of the prison.
And so, quite simply, he had taken the ragtag and remnants, the castoff survivors of the field of Culloden, and made them his own, that they and he might survive the stones of Ardsmuir as well. Reasoning, charming, and cajoling where he could, fighting where he must, he had forced them to band together, to face their captors as one, to put aside ancient clan rivalries and allegiances, and take him as their chieftain.

“They were mine,” he said softly. “And the having of them kept me alive.”

The Diviners are BACK.

Well, almost! We are so excited to share that the third installment of Libba Bray’s posi-tute-ly fabulous and spooky Diviners series is coming out this fall—on October 3rd to be exact. revealed the cover of Before the Devil Breaks You yesterday along with a little snippet (check it out here) and let’s just say we cannot wait to be transported back to 1920′s New York where mysticism and the occult are real…

Here’s the full synopsis:

The Diviners are back in this thrilling and eerie third installment by #1 New York Times bestselling author Libba Bray.

After battling a sleeping sickness, The Diviners are up against a group of new and malevolent foes–ghosts! Out in Ward’s Island sits a mental hospital full of lost souls from people long forgotten. Ghosts who have unusual and dangerous ties to the Man in the Stovepipe Hat also known as the King of Crows.

With terrible accounts of murder and possession flooding in from all over New York City, the Diviners must band together and brave the ghosts haunting the asylums to bring down the King of Crows.

Heart-pounding action and terrifying moments will leave you breathless in the third book of the four-book Diviners series by #1 New York Times bestselling author Libba Bray.

If this cover looks different from The Diviners and Lair of Dreams, you’re right! With this new spooky cover direction, we (of course) had to make sure the first two books got a makeover, as well. Check it out:

Spooky, spooky! We can’t wait to get all three editions together on a bookshelf. Is it October yet…?

Lost in a Mystery

I wander through wanderless wanderings
Wondering if I wonder too much about wandering
As I wondered a wondrous wanderer wandered through

And spoke:

Illusion is intrusion.
I question your vision.
Ferocious confusion you beguile
Between rivets of gold.

Understand that I planned
From the hand that feeds to the lives
You grieve but
NEVER turn your back
On the ones who can’t stand.

Life is too grand
To demand
Those that are damned
Grasping and gasping
Forgotten entrapping
Beneath flowing sand
You must band
There you will find
What is the illusion
Or what is merely
The truth.

Subjected, Rejected,
Awkward and Neglected,
They walk away.

Leaving you

Lost in the wonderings
Of wanderers that conquer
A wondered conqueror
Conquering the conquered
Lost in the questions
Left to wonder and wander
Wondered by wonders
Wandering alone.

What is the answer?
I seem to be too lost in the question.
