i was seeing some people say on twitter that the thing shinee is doing in japan tomorrow (i forgot the name) is really important. is that true?
yes, it is! the fns music festival (also known as fns kayousai, etc.) is a very important year end music show aired on fuji tv in japan. it’s a really big deal for japanese artists to be invited to perform there, and an even bigger deal for non-japanese artists to be invited. it’s VERY rare that they are. the only time that non-japanese artists really are is if they’re seen as having their own respective career within the industry there, like boa who is actually the only other korean act to be invited this year. they’re also the first korean boy group to be invited since tvxq was last in 2011. to stress importance, these are some of the japanese artists performing on the same show as shinee tomorrow (jst): e-girls, akb48 (and virtually every other 48 group), crystal kay, kyary pamyu pamyu, arashi, gackt, kis-my-ft2, different groups related to exile, momoiro clover z, morning musume, daigo, kim hirai, etc.
this twitter user gave a bit more information on it’s importance. to further emphasis on just how important it is i’m going to quote the final part of their information: “taemin kept mentioning it at swcv this weekend and j-shawols are ecstatic. i even saw some tears in the audience. i feel a lot of the international fandom isn’t recognizing the importance of this opportunity. it’s so difficult for k-artists to get on japanese broadcast. fnc kayousai is like the culmination of shinee’s many years of hard work and touring in japan. they’re finally being recognized as j-artists.”
