this was my very first manga guys

Voltron High School au, yay!! ( ๑ ❛ ڡ ❛ ๑ )

My procrastination level has increased holy shit. I consider myself as a pro.

This is my very first time drawing Voltron characters, a naked male upper body and coloured manga panels… I hope you guys will like the result öwö I bet he played football a lot as a child c: btw I’m talking about European football/soccer! It’s nothing special but I had to draw this~

Keith, Hunk and Lance enter the same high school. Keith wanted Hunk to join the karate club with him but he already signed up for the newly founded football club, led by his childhood friend Lance. He invited him since they used to play a lot as children. I would write a fic about this but I suck at writing, especially in English haha ;u;

I’m a sucker for “Holy shit I’m gay!”-moments lmao

edit: here is some kind of part two!

These are just some 8am Monday morning rambling thoughts, but I think I’ve hit on an explanation for something that’s bugged me for years.

My only major complaint about the Brotherhood adaption of the FMA manga has always been the unusual gutting and cutting of Riza’s recount of Ishval. It’s stripped bare. For perspective, the retelling spans the entirety of volume 15 of the manga. Most manga volumes after Ling’s introduction are given about 2.5-3 episodes for adaption. The recount of Ishval was given 1 episode–episode 30.

And they did some clever shuffling to at least make this slightly more reasonable. Roy’s declaration to Maes that he intends to overthrow Bradley and fix Amestris is given as the cold open to episode 10, even though this is part of volume 15. Scar’s backstory was presented in episode 22. Riza burying the nameless Ishvalan child and then asking Roy to burn off her back is in episode 54. All of these were relocated in the telling, but not cut.

Yet that doesn’t explain the sheer volume of stuff that DID get cut. Or changed even. Episode 30 seems to be missing the aspect of humanness that comes across in volume 15. It’s almost 2-dimensional since it seems to cut most things that display an element of human fallibility and moral ambiguity. It’s like “Yes the Amestrians are Evil except not our Heroes they are Different”. I always chalked that up to an unfortunate consequence of the cutting choices.

I finally realized though–I think that’s the intent.

I think Brotherhood modifies the story to make the named, known characters less morally implacable for their actions. All the cuts seem to get rid of the morally-gray–or even downright evil–things that Mustang, Hawkeye, Armstrong, and Hughes do, and amp up the evil in the actions of the unnamed Amestrian soldiers

Here’s a list of things cut or modified in episode 30:

  • In the manga, Roy and Riza reunite when Riza snipes and kills an Ishvalan man about to stab Roy. The man was hiding in the Amestrians’ base camp, jumped Roy after he’d removed his gloves to wash his hands, and right before the man sinks his blade into Roy’s neck, Riza shoots him through the head. In the anime, she just walks up to Roy and Maes, having killed no one on screen.
  • In the manga, Roy burns to death the last Ishvalan survivor–an old injured man gently petting his dog. Roy asks if the man has any last words, and the old man calmly curses Mustang right before he’s incinerated.
  • In the manga, Armstrong attempts to let two Ishvalan women escape by busting a hole in the wall he’d transmuted to trap them in. Kimbley steps in and annihilates them. He then goes to offer Armstrong a hand up, and (as a friendly favor) promises not to let the higher-ups know what Armstrong did, lest he get court martialed.
  • In the manga, we see dead Ishvalans left on the ground. Mustang and Hughes walk by bodies as they talk. Ishvalans with speaking roles are murdered. Faces can be put to people who were killed by Armstrong, Mustang, and Hawkeye.
  • In the manga, a captain in charge of Hughes’ squad is ordering unnecessarily risky missions in a thinly-veiled attempt to earn some recognition from the higher-up. Bass Grahn takes issue with this, and murders the captain. Hughes and some men are present to witness this. They calmly remark how unfortunate it is that a “stray bullet” from the other side has killed the captain.
  • The Amestrians’ celebration at the end of the war is cut. Some of Mustang’s men flag him down for a drink with him to thank him for protecting them. Mustang is disgusted with himself for the recognition. considering that indiscriminately killing people is what earned him it. (In fact, when Bradley spies Mustang in the crowd and realizes Mustang is vying for his spot, he remarks something along the lines of “There’s one man not enjoying the drunken celebration.”)
  • And, as far as things included in the anime but not the manga, Scar’s anime flashback to the war involves Amestrian soldiers gleefully, maliciously, happily killing Ishvalans. The soldiers all look identical. They don’t blink. And they march in perfect unison. This does make sense since it’s from Scar’s perspective. It very well could have looked that way to him. But that’s the ONLY perspective we’re given on the general Amestrian soldier–as if they’re all one generic, depthless, monster faction.

On the whole, the cut pieces paint a far more brutal picture

When Riza talks to Ed about Mustang’s plan to bring the Amestrian genociders to justice (himself and Riza included) it makes a lot more sense to the reader. Because we saw Roy and Hughes step over rotting bodies, and saw Riza snipe the gore and brains clear from a man’s head, and saw Mustang incinerate a harmless dog, and his injured, elderly owner. There is no dancing around what these people have done.

Yet in the anime, all these cuts modify the perspective we’re given. We don’t see Riza shoot and kill anyone (at least, not up close, not with a face). We don’t see Mustang incinerate the dog and the injured old man who gently cursed him to hell. We don’t see the people Armstrong attempted to aid getting wiped out. We don’t see Hughes’ quiet complicity with mutiny. Nor his stoic disaffection when the Ishvalan high priest’s offer is shot down by Bradley. We don’t get Mustang’s named subordinate soldiers who thank him for protecting them in war so they can go home to their families.

We lose the truly awful things our known characters were a part of. And we lose the humanity expressed by the background soldiers working beneath Mustang and the others.

What we get instead is divide. We know Mustang and Hawkeye killed people in Ishval, but they refuse to show us. We just see them acting remorseful, or planning self-immolating ways to fix everything wrong with Amestris. Opposite them, we get Generic Amestrian Soldier™ who gleefully commits genocide and has one, singular character design, when in the manga several of these people are named and are presented as honest, kind people.

The whole thing, to me, comes across as censorship. Like it’s maybe an attempt to separate Mustang, Hawkeye, Armstrong, and Hughes from their awful deeds. To make them more likable, to destroy the moral ambiguity that is otherwise clear in the manga. It makes them safer to present as good guys. And instead lumps the evil on this flanderized, straw-man Amestrian soldier.

For whatever political or cultural reasons, I think the anime studio was afraid of implicating Mustang and the others for their involvement in the Ishvalan genocide.

Eight seconds.

Chapter 91 Thoughts.

aka IS THIS ATTACK ON TITAN?!?!

The moment I clicked the new chapter was the moment I had the very same thoughts. I even double checked the titles. Then the penny dropped to my mind.

So Isayama decided to make another time-skip and also a change of character views as well.

It has been almost 80 years after this:

Almost 40 years after this:

Almost 30 years after this:

Almost 20 years after this:

9 years after this:

4 years after this and other events from the first chapter of manga:

And 3 years after this:

And we are at the year 854 now.

Cool.

Continue under the cut!

My favorite manga boys, who I fell for from first to last

Ranma from Ranma ½ was definitely my first manga love.  So dorky and boyish, yet rough around the edges and so very tortured by a past he could not control, as well as incredibly strong and protective.  He lead me to…

Inuyasha from Inuyasha: a Feudal Fairy Tale.  Oh man, I fell head-over-heels for this guy.  And while he was a bit more serious than Ranma was, he still had the main things I love in a male lead:  Rough around the edges, tortured by an uncontrollable, sorrowful past, yet still strong and protective.  Once I started writing fanfiction for him, I never turned back!

Tamahome from Fushigi Yuugi was next. Can you say “Crazy intense love story that 15-year-old-me couldn’t get enough of”?  From the moment Miaka fell into that wonderful book and she laid eyes on him I was done for.  Again, he’s got those same amazing traits I can’t seem to live without: strong and protective.  I’ll never get enough, it seems.  Also, I named my golden retriever ‘Fushigi’ after this series (Fushi for short, rest her soul), and NOT after that stupid Fushigi-ball thing that was all over TV for an instant.

Ugh, talk about tortured.  Kurosaki from Dengenki Daisy was tormented by the knowledge that he killed his best friend, and his promise to watch over his friend’s little sister.  Smart, skilled and quick as a whip, Kurosaki was harsh and even somewhat sadistic at first, with a crazy strong and protective streak.  The fight within himself to hold back his feelings got me so crazy, and I mean, look at that smile.  Can you blame me??  I fucking love you, Kurosaki.

Last but not least, I leave you with Hak from Akatsuki no Yona (Yona of the Dawn). Tortured because the chick he likes likes his best friend? - check.  Tortured because his best friend murdered his crush’s father and tried to murder his crush? - check.  Incredibly strong and protective?  OMG yes, so, so much I can barely stand it.  Don’t even get me started on the other guys in that group, okay??  Because all of them together are just too much, and it’s like Mizuho Kusanagi reached inside my head and pulled out everything that checks my list in this manga series.  Why has she written such a perfect story??  WHY?

So interesting too, because every single female lead in these series are all kind of naive and weak at first and then, despite their amazing protectors, really step up and manage to hold their own.

Have anyone to add to this list?

Doukyuusei’s comings out

Yes I know it was Hara-sensei that KNEW first…but I’m not counting that because it wasn’t told by Kusakabe or Sajou themselves.

First coming out or more like first confessing for dating a guy made Kusakabe with his friend Tani. We don’t know nothing about Kusakabe’s family except that his sister read BL mangas. So first person for Kusakabe was his childhood friend who was part of their band ZGOG. He actually showed his interest befour in Kusakabe’s relationship with Sajou…so I think he probably just wanted to confirm that he was predicting.

His reaction was really interesting. I’m glad it was not “too much happy” reaction or like “disgusted” kind of reaction…it was very simple accepting it (more of a comfirming his expectation)…and Kusakabe’s : Are you uncomfortable?

That made me think…a lot of guys (including my brother) said to me that it wasn’t bad, but it wasn’t pleasant either to be in a company of a gay. I will truthfully never understand that…are they afraid of them? Of course not all men are like that but almost all males that I know said that they’d be uncomfortable… I know 2 lesbians myself but it doesn’t make me uncomfortable in any way. It makes no difference to me, they are the same person that they are, it’s just their sexual orientation which should not be the reason for exposing them and then isolate them…

That’s why I love Tani’s reaction…he even pointed out that he noticed that Kusakabe never showed interest in girls…or romantic feelings in any way whatsoever..

He actually expose to Kusakabe who’s his first love.

For the Sajou on the other hand his first person to know was his mother. His family. It really touched me how he apologized first. We know that a lot of countries don’t have legalized gay marriage (that count for Japan too) or more accepting enviroment for gay people. Yes it becoming better and better but in really slow motion (let it be because of the religion or because of the people traditional characters).

Then it depends just on a people believes or people characters how will they react. Here we see the shocking face of course…it’s the japanese community and her only son /child. So I was expecting some disagreeing from her prospective, but on the contrary we got a meeting mother-in-law, son-in-law.

The last look in her eyes gives me belief that she’s happy for her son and that she in that moment accept Sajou & Kusakabe completely. I just noticed that they were careful around dad so I assume that father doesn’t know.

I would love to see more of a this interactions…well, yes with Tani they did go eat out together. Just I’m glad we have opportunity to see some good confessions & reactions. Hopefully Kusakabe and Sajou have still good connections with Sajou’s mom :D :D

I’m Inspired By 4-Koma Like... Part II

Yotsubato! (Okay it’s not really a 4-koma but I love this manga!)

Every character is so cute! And the humor is so subtle. It’s in the facial expressions, the odd behavior, the real-life resemblence of it all. That’s what I’m aiming for in my comic.

I first read this comic in middle school. My school had a very limited manga section, and me and my friends would read all the manga and pass it around.

How I fell in love with Sakura  Haruno

This is going to be very long, but it’s very important to read especially if you’re a hater.

I started Naruto pretty late despite years of recommendations. It took me total 25 days (I counted) to watch complete Part 1 and 2 and catch up with Manga. During this time, I didn’t check out any Naruto fan sites or met any Naruto fan over the internet. I didn’t even know how Naruto fandom worked, what they liked or disliked about this series or characters. So my feelings and impressions of all Naruto characters were completely pure and uninfluenced. Keeping that in mind, I want you guys to know what I felt about heroine of this series Sakura Haruno without knowing what anybody else thought about her.

Starting off with the very first arc, I was surprised to find out that she was the main girl of the series, because she appeared very…. ordinary… and average. I didn’t take her crush on Sasuke seriously and didn’t care much about her character. When I finished first arc and my friend asked me how the series was going, here’s what I told her:

“Naruto is awesome. Sasuke is really cool. And Sakura is the most useless ninja ever.

Believe me those were my exact words. And my friend was kind enough to not to spoil anything and just said:

“She gets better.”

Fast forward to forest of death, the episode “Sakura Blossoms” left me unsatisfied. I appreciated that she tried to protect her team and all but all she could manage was cut her hair and get beaten up. (Just a reminder, these were my very first and raw thoughts as a new fan. My opinions changed, of course, drastically.) Despite all this, I was very surprised when Sakura hugged Sasuke from behind and calmed him down. That’s when I thought, “wow, this “crush” shit looks pretty serious”.

There were moments where Sakura annoyed me. I was annoyed when she constantly bugged Sasuke about his mark. I was annoyed whenever she would act mean to Naruto. And I always had this desire to urge Naruto do something to make her respect him. I mean Sakura was like never impressed by Naruto!

Sakura vs Ino was really good though, and in this fight I also realized that Sakura could be hard on Naruto sometimes but she never really hated him. I was really moved by the bond Sakura and Ino developed after their fight. Their friendship inspired me.

The next time I noticed her was when she attended to Sasuke in the hospital after he got his ass kicked by Itachi. I was a bit taken aback when an asshole a cold guy like Sasuke was letting her feed apples and hug him. By that time I was certain that Sakura is one stubborn girl who doesn’t know when to back off.

Her love confession on the night Sasuke left was a big surprise. I didn’t even think it was that serious. I was like, “You’re 12, what could you possibly know about love?” And Sasuke’s “Thank you” gave me the impression that he too felt something about her in his heart. Another surprise.

I’d be honest here. From the end of part one and until after Pain’s arc in part two, all I really cared to know about Sakura was this:

“Is she nice to Naruto yet?”

I mean sure she was nice with him most of the time, and all those scenes where she punched him were comical and Naruto deserved them, but I’m talking in regard of her acknowledgment of Naruto’s powers. When Naruto was about to leave to train with Fukasaku after Jiraya died and asked where Mount Myōboku was and Sakura was like “He is supposed to save us? We’re doomed.” I took this statement rather offensively and exclaimed:

"C'mon woman! Are you ever gonna be impressed by him?”

Before I go ahead, let me clear up one thing:
I never hated Sakura. Sure she annoyed me at times and seemed un-nice to Naruto, but all of these were first impressions. And I didn’t have time to stop and think about the characters anyway because I was kinda in a hurry to catch up. But I never really hated Sakura. Moreover, I’ve come to realize that to hate Sakura you have to be a Hinata fan, which I’ve never been.

Moving on. Sakura’s “confession” to Naruto was a jaw dropping moment for me. Not because I thought that somehow she really was in love with him. But because I believed that the writer (I didn’t know Kishimoto’s name that time) had completely buried any chances of Sakura being with Naruto. Yeah and I also believed that that confession was a mean thing to do. And when Sasuke tried to kill her twice in the gap of few minutes, my impression was that the writer had also buried any chances of Sakura being with Sasuke too.

Fast forward to the moment where I absolutely loved and was greatly impressed by Sakura. The moment where she outfoxed Neji-Zetsu, strangled him and beat the shit outta him. That’s still one of my favorite scenes. Even though I had been a bit irritated few moments earlier over the fact the she still loved Sasuke even after everything he had done. You guys know which moment I’m talking about right? Where she received the love letter?

Anyway, nothing important about her happened in the anime after that. I watched all episodes, all movies, caught up with the manga, found out that Sakura had obtained the diamond on her forehead and had punched few ten-tails.
After all this, I sat back and relaxed. Then one fine day, me and my friend were discussing Naruto and it hit me like a spaceship (seriously, the impact was that big) and I told my friend:

“I love Sakura!!!”

It was bizarre! I couldn’t believe I was saying this. But it was true. I knew it was love. The feeling was very strong. I had never felt like this for a character before. After this realization, I went back and rewatched all episodes, trying to figure out what moment could possibly have made me fall in love with a girl with pink hair!!

Honestly, I’m still not sure why I’m so in love with her but I have managed to create a list of possible reasons of Why I love Sakura Haruno :

1. She overcame her complexity over her forehead.

2. She rivaled, matched and surpassed her best friend. And still maintained their friendship.

3. She had the urge to compete with Sasuke and Naruto despite them being way out of her league.

4. She aimed to become powerful and achieved it.

5. She has this “Don’t mess with me or you’re gonna get it” attitude.

6. She is fierce, but she’s also kind.

7. She healed Kankuro and created antidote. To me it’s bigger than her fight with Sasori.

8. She smiled at Sai moments before punching him.

9. She explained to Sai how nicknames worked and then kicked his ass for getting it all wrong.

11. She asked Shikamaru to back off when Tsunade was in her mourning period over Jiraya’s death.

12. She took down the giant centipede at the start of Pain arc.

13. She soft-punched Naruto and then hugged him after he defeated Pain.

14. She kicked hard at Kiba’s foot for asking her to tell Naruto the truth.

15. She managed to knockout Sai, Lee and Kiba

16. She told Sasuke that she had deserted Konoha for him.

17. She healed Karin while crying.

18. She received the love letter.

19. She politely declined.

20. She still loved Sasuke.

21. She was in an emotional state when Neji-Zetsu came up to her and she still managed to trick him.

22. She deceptively calmly asked Neji-Zetsu to sit down

23. And punched him before he could attack.

24. She strangled Neji-Zetsu, explained why he was an idiot

25. And punched him again.

26. She’s just that smart and Zetsu is impressed

27. She has breathtaking eyes.

By this time I was already in love with her but here are some more reasons that came afterwards:

28. She asked Sasuke why he was here instead of being happy about it.

29. She did not trust Sasuke.

30. She gave Naruto CPR and grabbed his heart. Literally

31. She nosebleeded over Naruto’s reverse harem jutsu.

32. Those eyes.

33. These expressions: mixture of despair, anger and hope.

34. Don’t interrupt Sasuke-kun.

35. Can I come with you?

36. Reaction to the poke and “thank you”

37. She has a daughter. And she too is allergic to stupidity.

I don’t know if you noticed but I didn’t include the common “shining” moments of Sakura because this post isn’t what other fans think or see in her. It’s about how I feel about her. Also I’ve not included moments from part one because I believe that Sakura of Shippuden is the Sakura I fell in love with.

Also I’ve refrained from touching SasuSaku too much because this post is specifically about Sakura and I as a person believe that she’s the kind of girl who doesn’t need a man to complete her.

There are other moments in movies but this post has already taken me over 5 hours..

The point of all this is that don’t hate a character by the first impressions. Give them some time. A character like Sakura is the most realistic character in entire series. You will find girls like her in real life, and these girls are something to aspire to.

I’m very tempted to make one post on critical analysis of Sakura’s character and one on why she was badly handled by her creator. But all in a good time.

Thank you for reading.

I got a new Natsume notebook, and what better way to fill the first page is there than more shiki Matoba? And this time he’s with his master! <3

For anyone wondering where the hell I got the idea of shiki Matoba from, he’s from the bonus illustration of manga vol. 13 (pic under the cut):

I forgot, have you listed what your favorite anime were before?

I think I have, back when Animutale was first starting off. But I don’t mind telling you guys again.

I don’t actually watch very much anime, I am actually much more likely to read manga. And since I get uncomfortable with certain kinds of things pretty easily, I don’t watch too many animes that aren’t…generally safe for most audiences.
I’ve watched a lot of the Ghibli movies and my current favorite anime is actually a (very dark and not suitable for small children in my opinion) kid’s anime… Digimon Tamers!!

I’m also a fan of Little Witch Academia, the art and animation style are so breathtaking and Sucy is the absolute best.

Another notable anime that I sometimes bring up to friends is the rather…er…interesting anime adaptation of the Kagerou Project music (and music video) series: Mekakucity Actors. Like most of the fans of the project, I was a bit disgruntled by some of the aspects of the show, but the voice acting and theme song are pretty neat. I did enjoy some parts of it, and it was able to emotionally derail me for a bit, so it’s not the WORST. But it’s not the anime the series deserved.

So uhm… yeah!! So that’s basically everything with me in regards to anime. I hope that was…educational.

Since I reached the end of the first manga volume with my comparison thing, I’ve now bought the second volume. In the very beginning it has a couple pages to introduce the characters. Anzu’s introduction caught my eye immediately because of the inaccuracies.

The first inaccuracy is more of a hindsight thing, but it’s just interesting considering that Anzu is the one who we see come to terms with the realization that Yuugi and Atem are separate people (and serves as the vehicle for the audience to accept that conclusion as well). But since this is very early on in the manga I’m not really all that hung up on this statement, I can see how the mistake would be made.

The second inaccuracy is what really caught my eye.

“Her first name means “Peach.””

This isn’t true - her name means “apricot”. Those are different fruits. However, I think this mistake is probably a likely source behind the Yuugi/Anzu ship name, “peachshipping”. The reason we have listed on the shipping list revolves around the digital pet chapter/episode, but I think this is likely at least a contributing factor. Since the mistranslation came from an official source, it wouldn’t be surprising that fans would have believed that her name meant “peach” early on.

I’ll see if it continues to be present in future manga volumes as I work through them. If it was repeated it would definitely lend credence to that mistake being the source of the name.

Lol y is every touken shipper so sad bout the new chap? As a non touken shipper it is clear as daylight that touken's gonna happen. Sensei ships it like his life depends on it. I don't actually ship anyone from this manga probably bc my first priority is all of them being alive. But don't worry guys it's gonna happen. Give them time to develop a lil bit. Ishida sensei just ships it too much lol

looks like the spoilers about kaneki rejecting touka were false, as nothing of the sort happened in the actual chapter. i mean, i would have been very understanding had it happened, but it looks like sensei has different plans.

I need opinions guys! The first one was from some time in 2016c and I’m partially redrawn with it right now. Constructive criticism on now is very much desired! Lay it on me?? Good and positive?? Leave a comment or note me anonymously? Anything! Better now? Better then? Worth finishing a or b?

Hi.. Um.. I wanted to ask who's the cutie on your profile picture~ I searched and searched, found new manga to read, went back in time (your archive) but I couldn't find anything that could tell me for sure who it was.. I thought it was Jinguji Ren at first, but I've never seen this particular picture and.. yeah.. If you could give me a link or a clue I'd be very grateful ;--;

Hello! The guy on my icon is Frankenstein from Noblesse and I post/reblog stuff about this gorgeous man a lot on my blog :) Here is the full picture which I used for my icon. Enjoy sweetie ~

still not convinced?

Kuragehime or Princess Jellyfish is a manga turned anime turned live action. It has a very interesting story line that seemed boring at first. that’s my first impression www …the only thing that caught my attention was “a guy crossdressing”. I am so into pretty guys so I gave it a chance; I srsly expected it to be crack www but YAY it’s not. YES, those successive photos of a ‘girl’ is actually a transvestite wwwww he’s gorgeous isn’t he www and one of the best scenes in the film is the fashion show featuring dresses designed as jellyfishes ♥ AND may I mention, this Mr. Pretty Guy starred as Karma in AssClass Live-Action. I know, I’m surprised too

so minna, if you please ♥ watch this movie

Thoughts about Taichi/Yamato

As someone who LOVES looking through the tags on my posts here on tumblr, I’ve found some really sweet stuff posted along with my TAITO fanart.

Besides the regular fangirling, I’ve found a lot of tags talking about how taito was their first (guy/guy) slash ship.
What was interesting though was that many people mentioned that they started shipping taito before they knew what slash was.
