this was a zoo of a show

anonymous asked:

I didn't know you watched Zoo?! Who's your favorite character? What did you think of the second season finale? Did you know the character who plays the "grown up" Clementine also played Greer Danville, the lesbian in love with her bisexual bean Brenna Carver, in Chasing Life??? Ps: I love your blog :)

I LOVE ZOO!!

My favourite character was Chloe :( you should have seen my texting history while I was watching that episode! Right now my really digging Jamie, but I also really like Mitch and Abraham (I just love them all lol)

I’m actually watching season 2 for the first time now, I actually had to rewatch season 1 because I had left it for so long before I watched so I haven’t seen the finale yet! There is a twitter I follow deathtodickens that live tweets while she watches and her commentary on the show kills me!

NO!! I haven’t seen Chasing Life but I’m gonna add that to my list!

aw shucks anon thank you! I’m glad you like the obnoxious mess that is my blog!

(Long post) Before I post the zoo photos, I need to show you this thing I found at the store.

So I was at the store a few days ago, and I was near the “organic” food section–they keep it near the drinks. And I saw…

How the hell do you “infuse hydrogen” into water. Hydrogen is already in the water.

Generally regarded as safe. What in the world are you doing with water that it’s only generally regarded as safe.

Also, this can all be summed up in the phrase “drink water, it’s good for you.”

Well gee, thanks for telling me there’s hydrogen in H2O. I would have had no idea otherwise.

HOW DOES IT HAVE AN EXPIRATION DATE??? HOW DOES IT GO BAD

Edit: An anon pointed out it doesn’t have a “received” date, or a “production” date. It has a fucking birthday.

“Sugar free * caffeine free * allergen free”

BECAUSE IT IS FUCKING WATER

how to make a kids show dystopia

1. make it colorful

2. slight reference to familiar things

3. appeal to the younger generations underlying but present sense of anxiety about a world plagued by random acts of violence and an overwhelming problem of climate change and pollution. ‘The world is going to end’ is a very present mentality and the colorful optimism of kids-apocalypse assures them that it will still be okay after all that.

4. make it gay.

Things I want to see from Steven Universe:
•White Diamond
•Steven having an actual growth spurt
•Bismuth return/redemption
•AMEDOT
•The shattering of Pink Diamond
•Peridot somehow poofing and reforming with Crystal Gem wear
•All of those Rose Quartz being un-bubbled
•Collecting the Rubies from space and seeing what the hell to do with them
•PEARL CALLING MYSTERY GIRL AND THEM GOING ON A DATE
•Revelation of if gem location is meaningful or random
•Return of the Amethysts and Skinny and Carnelian
•Jasper being healed
•Steven composing a song that will reverse the effects of corruption
•Temple fusion (you know what I mean. Whoever that gem is that their temple is modeled after)
•The inhabitants of the Human Zoo being shown Earth for the first time
•What happens if Steven poofs?
•Honestly just more fusions in general

This show has so many open plot lines it’s amazing. I can’t wait to get more answers. I never want it to end

Shiva in every episode - The Well

I was a zookeeper. Shiva, she fell into one of the concrete moats in her exhibit. It was empty, the vets were on their way, but her leg was ripped open. She was gonna bleed out. The sound she made. She was in so much pain. I knew the risk. I had to try. And I got my shirt up around her leg, saved her life. After that, she never showed so much as a tooth in my direction. Keeping a tiger isn’t practical, I know. She eats as much as ten people. She could yank the chain out of my hand, hell, she could yank my arm right off. But she hasn’t. She won’t. I lost a lot, just like everybody else. When it all started to end, I found myself back at the zoo. Shiva was one of the last animals left. She was trapped, hungry, alone. Like me. She was the last thing left in this world that I loved. She protected me. She got me here, made me larger than life.

Ok, so interesting stuff I gathered from the new su episodes:

-the gems from Amethyst’s kindergarden are the most amazing thing ever

-apparently the beta gems are miscoloured?

-jasper was the only one who made it a) off earth or b) off zoo duty

-blue diamond is easily persuaded holy shit

-the guard gem (i can’t remember her name) just had her whole life turned around and is probably gonna have an existential crisis over a pearl telling her off

-blue diamond is a grieving mess but that doesn’t excuse KIDNAPPING PEOPLE AND SHATTERING GEMS BECAUSE THEY’VE FUSED ARE YOU KIDDING ME

-yellow diamond doesn’t know how grief works and she’s gonna have a breakdown

- i really liked the beta gem they showed us (was it another jasper, a carneol maybe?)

-AMETHYST FOUND HER SISTERS AND THEY’RE AMAZING AND THEY HAVE THE SAME HUMOUR I’M SO PROUD OF MY OVERCOOKED LITTLE CLOD

-ruby holds sapphire’s hand to keep her from freezing herself

-ruby is NOT dumb

-garnet is scared af of blue diamond (understandably)

-ANOTHER EPISODE OF SAPPHIRE AND RUBY UNFUSED

-blue pearl is indeed a shy little thing and apparently dancing with yellow pearl is nice ™

-blue Diamond’s voice makes me cry

-like, I thought she was gonna be some stone cold calculating ice rock but she just cries all the time (although we did get a glimpse of how terrifying she can be as soon as there’s subjects around)

-THEY BUBBLED EVERY SINGLE ROSE QUARTZ AND THEY’RE GOING TO SHATTER THEM

-yellow diamond admits that they all love pink diamond

-the lyrics got me (There’s no use in feeling [pause] blue)

-like, was i the only one who went ‘damn, that’s a double meaning if I’ve ever seen one’ 1) There’s no use in feeling, Blue or 2) There’s no use in feeling blue (feeling blue = feeling sad)

-the humans in the zoo do not handle rejection well

-i wonder if their earrings tell them how to procreate too?

-probably

-the zoo is creepy

-the guard gem played herself

-She has her gem on the back of her head - we’ve never seen that before, so that’s interesting

-i’m dead

-like, I legit died watching this

-I KNEW THE FRICKIN PALANQUIN WAS GONNA BE IMPORTANT

So for this whole month I haven’t gotten to really sit down and celebrate Halloween, and at the rate things are going, I don’t think I’ll get to do much on the actual holiday either. To make it up to myself, though..well, you see what happened. 4 times. ..With 13 characters.

Anyway; had a huge amount of fun doing these! Don’t count out the chance of another one showing up before the holiday’s over!

(‘A`)

I really didn’t wanna talk about Steven Universe again. This show may as well be dead to me, because from day one it has constantly failed at nearly everything it tried to achieve. However, this “human zoo” thing is too much for me to ignore, because this is an all new low for this series. The “human zoo” thing is genuinely unacceptable.

It should be very clear that the mere inclusion of a “human zoo” in Steven Universe is horrendously tactless on the part of Crewniverse. Human zoos (comprised of non-white people from European colonies) were a very real occurrence and most people are blissfully ignorant of their history. The oversimplified version of a human zoo presented in Steven Universe only emphasizes this ignorance. Here I thought “Coach Steven” was the epitome of racial insensitivity, but Pink Diamond’s “human zoo” definitely usurps it in terms of negligence regarding the brutal, dehumanizing history of racism and colonization.

The insertion of a “human zoo” into the framework of the series could have been easily avoided, so there’s no excuse for this nonsense. From a story telling standpoint, it’s uncalled for and shoehorned in with very little consideration. The term human zoo has a lot of historical baggage attached to it and Crewniverse did not take that baggage into account. Furthermore, Crewniverse should have known better, because all it takes is a quick Google search to become acquainted with the atrocities of human zoos. By evoking the image of a literal human zoo, Crewniverse has disgraced all those who had been stripped of their humanity by white colonizers. While the influx of SU fans rationalizing and justifying Crewniverse’s disregard toward people victimized by colonialism is unnerving, it creates a rather telling portrait of how many people truly feel about colonization.

UPDATE: By representing the humans as happy, unburdened, and innocent without a care in the world, Creniverse really undermined why human zoos are so heinous. The captive humans portrayed in Steven Universe satisfy the stereotypes perpetuated by the white colonizers who spearheaded human zoos.

Decades before he became a best-selling children’s book author, Dr. Seuss, a.k.a. Theodor Geisel, created a series of sculptures he called his “Unorthodox Taxidermy.” Using real horns, beaks and antlers, he fashioned whimsical creatures which look like they jumped right out of his books.

Now a traveling show of replicas, called “If I Ran the Zoo”, has landed at a gallery in Long Island. We bring you that story (how else?) in verse: Before His Name Was Known At All, Seuss Put Creatures On The Wall

One of the few things I’ll cross-post from Facebook. Here’s a great image from the Zoo Nation Facebook page, and it’s commentary:

“The manipulation of an image can say a thousand words. The The Huffington Post recently posted an anti-zoo article with edited images trying to convey animals have miserable lives in zoos. Below we show you lie vs. reality. Please remember that animal rights groups frequently distort the truth to push their agenda.”

Huffington Post, while generally a sometimes reliable news media source, has increasingly been exhibiting an anti-captivity, pro-animal rights stance. Their media on captivity and animal rights are no longer unbiased surveys of information.

After mating, the female cassowary will lay three to six large, green eggs.  Once these eggs are laid, the female’s job is done, and she will wander off to find another male to mate with.  It is the father who constructs a nest of waterproof vegetation and incubates the eggs for the next fifty days.  A devoted parent, the male will not leave his eggs until they have hatched.  A broody male cassowary does not need to eat, drink, or even defecate for the entire period of incubation.

Cassowary chicks are small, beige in colour, with dark brown stripes.  The father will protect his new family with devotion, showing them what foods to eat and ferociously protecting them from predators.  The chicks will stay with their father for the next nine months.

It has also been noted in zoos that cassowary chicks will imprint readily on anyone who is present when they hatch, including humans.  These chicks are then extremely tame and will follow their adopted parent anywhere.  In some native villages in New Guinea, cassowary chicks are even kept as pets and left to wander loose through the village, like chickens.  However, even the tamest chick will turn savage and dangerous upon reaching adulthood.

ok, so everyone’s talking about the diamonds and amethysts and I loved the whole stevenbomb but is anyone gonna address the fact that Y-6 (the black haired human that interacted w/ Greg in “The Zoo”) literally “chosened” Greg to be his husband??? Guys… Y-6 is gay for Greg omg
