this team is something special

It’s not even that Bitty doesn’t think he’s cute, because plenty of people think Bitty is cute. Hell, he’s got a vlog - over half his audience call him ‘adorable’ and the rest use words like ‘nice boy’ and ‘such a sweetheart’

He carefully retakes, crops and filters his selfies so that he (and whomever he is with) always look their best, and he is aware that he’s got a great body - he has to, what with the hockey and all.

Not that anyone would know about the great body though, because it’s not like anyone has ever made a damn move to get their hands on it.

Or so he thinks.

Michael Greif, Mike Faist, Rachel Bay Jones, and more recall the show’s first reading.

The first time they sat down for a table read and opened the script, the Dear Evan Hansen team “knew right away that it was going to be something special.” Many in that original group are now part of the company working together on the hit Broadway show. As the Tony Awards draw near, the cast and crew are looking back on their collective experience bringing this powerful story to life onstage. Hear what Rachel Bay Jones, Mike Faist, Steven Levenson, and more had to say about their journey on the morning after Tony nominations were announced.

Age Is A Number...

Hey guys! Double post today, hope you all enjoy this one, I had loads of fun writing it! Feedback is greatly appreciated and welcomed, as always thank you for reading. <3

Requested by: @climbmountainsandhugtrees “…I was wondering if you’d write a little something with Gibbs for me, too. something along the lines of the reader being the youngest in the team and Gibbs is always looking out for her and making sure nothing happens and then a suspect takes her hostage.”

Word Count: 1,364

Pairing: Gibbs x Reader

It wasn’t news to anyone that you were young. Youngest on the elite team captained by Leroy Jethro Gibbs. Youngest agent in the Naval Yard in fact. It drew attention to yourself, especially when you started. Your first day included questions; some personal, some inappropriate and one or two that got Gibbs’s back up but you survived, you gave yourself a pat on the back and took it from there. Five years later and you’re still here.

Ever since though you’ve gone from strength to strength, Gibbs took a chance on you when he accepted you into the team, he wouldn’t have done that if he hadn’t seen something special in you, whether it was your quit witted replies to DiNozzo’s advances or your intuition in cases, but he also took you under his wing guided you when you needed it, gave you advice. He became somewhat of a father figure to you, your work Dad as Tony and McGee like to tell you every so often.

He always had your back, if you were ever in a sticky situation Gibbs would always be there to get you out. If you ever had a problem, Gibbs would be there to lend an ear or a well-cooked steak and a beer.

“We just want to ask Malcolm and Kevin some question, in connection with the Petty Officers death.” You explained to their parents, glancing at DiNozzo.

“Mrs Hudson, why don’t you come with me and we’ll talk with Kevin?” He asked, gesturing to the stairs. Both the boys were in their bedrooms. She nodded and followed the Special Agent up to Kevin’s room.

“Mr Hudson?” You prompt with a small smile, “It’s just a few questions..” He nodded too and lead you up to Malcolm’s room.

“Malcolm?” He asked as he opened the door, allowing you in and then shut it behind him, “This here is Agent [Y/L/N], she wants to ask you about that Officer’s death..”

Malcolm sat up on his bed and nodded, his father going to stand by the window.

You started with the routine questions, what was Malcolm’s connection with the Petty Officer, what was he doing at the park that late at night, could you have a DNA sample - that’s where things went south, “Alright Malcolm, calm down, it’s just a few questions.” You say in a calming voice, hoping it would calm the young man. He had at least a foot on you and you could already tell he played football at school.

“I didn’t do anything!” He shouted and pushed you out of the way to lock the door, before you could even react he’d pulled a weapon and backed himself into a corner, aiming his handgun at you and his father.

“Malcolm, what’s this? This isn’t you!” His father shouted just as you pulled your own weapon, aiming it at the young man.

DiNozzo frowned when he heard the commotion in the next room and made a sign for the mother and the second son to stay in the room they were currently in. He drew his weapon and slowly made his way down the hall, “[Y/N]! Everything alright in there?”

“Don’t say anything, and put your gun down!” Malcolm hissed at you.

“Tony, get back,” you start to say but Malcolm shouted over you.

“Go away from the door, or they both die!” He threatened and it made your blood run cold, the boy sounded wild and scared and he was already in a corner.

The father spluttered, “Malcolm, please, what’s gotten into you.”

“Shut up, Dad!”

“Tony, do as he says…” You warn and start to lower your gun, placing it on the floor before kicking it over and raising your hands, “Alright Malcolm, you’re in charge.”

“Boss we have a situation,” DiNozzo said into his cell phone as he bundled Mrs Hudson and Kevin into the garage, telling them to stay put as he went back to the bottom of the stairs.

Tires screeched to a halt and the sirens that had been on turned off. Gibbs and McGee ran from the car, into the house, meeting Tony in the living room, “Local LEOs have been notified. SWAT are on their way.” McGee told Tony.

“Has he made any demands?” Gibbs asked Tony.

“Nothing yet. [Y/N] is in there with the father too. Boss, I’m sorry we both just went to do separate inter-”

“It isn’t your fault DiNozzo…we jut have to get her out alive.”

“Sniper, do you have a shot?” The task force leader said into his earpiece.

‘Negative Sir, Agent [Y/L/N] is blocking the only window.’

“He’s put her there. He’s smart, not a stupid kid.” Tony said to everyone before noticing Gibbs squinting at said window, “Boss?”

Gibbs kept looking at the window, squinting his eyes, “She’s signing.”

“What? What do you mean signing?” The task force leader asked.

“Her and Abby…Abby’s our lab technician, she’s been teaching her for years. She’s signing something.” He concentrated, “Boy…unstable…willing to shoot…father..”

“Right, we’re going in. Blast on the door should be enough to distract him long enough for us to disarm him.” The task force guy concluded but a gunshot rang out stopping everyone in their tracks, then another.

Gibbs’s eyes snapped to the window to see blood spatter and a neat little hole. Without any though, Gibbs, Tony and McGee all race off towards the house, one thing on their mind - you.

“NCIS!” All three men shouted as they stormed the room, weapons drawn. There was the boy, gun smoking from his hand, a pale face and tears running down his cheeks. The father cowering in the corner and you, you were laid on the floor clutching your stomach.

“DiNozzo, secure that weapon!” Gibbs barked, McGee was rounding on the shooter with his handcuffs ready. More officers came in, escorting the father out.

“G-Gibbs,” you said in a wobbly voice, your hands over your stomach, “I-I-I don’t- it just went off-”

“Alright, alright, stop, let me see…” He said softly and pried your hands away, if he’d learnt anything from Ducky it was where a fatal gunshot wound could be and right now, you were incredibly lucky - in the grand scheme of things, you were still losing blood, however.

You groan when he pressed down on your stomach, much harder than you had been doing, “I can’t die- what if I die? I’m too young. I’m not- I can’t..” You stop, letting your head fall back to the floor with a thud, your bloody fingers gripping the material on the arm of Gibbs’s NCIS jacket, “God!” You yell with a pained voice, whimpering.

“Hey, listen to me, focus on me.” He instructed you, “Have I ever steered you wrong yet?” Gibbs asked, pushing further onto your stomach, he could feel both Tony’s and Tim’s eyes on you and him.

You shake your head, your lips in a thin line, “Then believe me when I say you’re going to be fine.” Gibbs kept his eyes on yours and you nodded.

You were laid in the hospital bed hours later after a surgery to remove the bullet and heavy bandages around your stomach. You would be out of action for a few weeks but determined to get back up and running in no time. The door opened to your room, it was pitch black outside now, save for the glow of the streetlamps. You turn your head from the window and smile as you saw Gibbs at the doorway, Tony peaking over one shoulder and McGee over the other, “Hey guys…”

They filed in, both DiNozzo and McGee holding some flowers than were black, a balloon, some chocolates and a card. You laughed ever so softly but it still ended up with a wince to your face, “Tell Abbs thank you for those beautiful flowers.”

The guys put everything on your small desk before taking a seat either side of your bed, Gibbs stood off to the side, looking over the three of you with a gentle smile on his face. He caught your gaze and gave you a wink. He would always have your back - always.

Young Avengers: 15 Reasons The Gillen and McKelvie Run Was Great
Kieron Gillen and Jamie McKelvie's Young Avengers run is a unique reading experience. Here are 15 reasons why.

For fans of Marvel’s comic book and inematic Universes, “The Avengers” is a team whose name brings to mind different members. Some may think of Captain America, The Hulk and Ant-Man while others think of Thor, Black Widow and Hawkeye. As amazing as these teams are, there is something special about the teen lineup of the “Young Avengers”, especially the team put together by regular creative collaborators Kieron Gillen and Jamie McKelvie.

While the Young Avengers’ original lineup had members that were connected to The Avengers, this relaunched roster had each member attempting to distance themselves from the past. With a backdrop of gorgeous art, creative comic panels and a youthful spirit, the Young Avengers could strike out on their own and save the world. Here are 15 reasons why this run is the best.

I know there's 2 Avatar series but I've only seen the original, a lot of people said Korra wasn't good, but I want to give it a shot, what do you think about Korra and how would you compare it to the original, is it better or worst, I can already tell it won't be as good as the original but in sure it's not as bad as most people say.

It’s definitely not as good as the original. The world building and the writing in the original is leaps and bounds ahead of TLOK. There isn’t even any comparison. Ehasz and the rest of the team really made ATLA into something special. There was this sincerity and beauty in the writing of the original show that is practically unmatched in animated shows. Especially in the first 2 Books. TLOK is missing this genuine heart.

There is not a single episode of TLOK that is as good as Lake Laogai, or some of the other episodes from the original that won awards for writing. There are no moments in TLOK that were as emotionally engaging as some of ATLA’s best, like Tales of Ba Sing Se. There are no beautiful scenes like at the end of The Swamp, where Huu talks about how all life is one. It doesn’t broach the same philosophical depth, like in The Guru. And it is not anywhere near as funny or witty with its jokes. But ATLA set the bar very high, and saying that TLOK is not as good is not saying much. Hardly any cartoon is as good as ATLA.

TLOK is very different from ATLA. It feels more like Book 3 of ATLA or the ATLA comics, in that a lot of the storytelling is more cheap and tacky. Especially with the romance. I didn’t even really think much of ATLA when I watched it. That is how different it feels. It is most enjoyable if you go in thinking of it as a new I.P. that takes place in the Avatar world, but that is essentially a spin-off that re-imagines a lot of things. Sometimes I wish that there were no cameos of the original characters, so it could be more stand-alone. I felt like the cameos were weak anyways.

It is a pretty fun action-adventure show, but it is a poor sequel to ATLA. It has fun moments, great visuals, and some genuinely nice action scenes. I feel it is worth watching.

I’ve loved Godzilla since I was 7 years old, I legitimately remember asking my mom if she believed in Godzilla– like as if he actually existed, hiding somewhere out in the ocean, and bless that woman she said “yes” just to keep my imagination flaring. I always knew Santa was mom. But Godzilla was some real shit goddamnit and I knew it.

So anyway Im about to be 25 now, and Godzilla still to this day has me in awe. I love giant monsters and battles. coolest shit ever. so naturally, going into monster hunter I’ve more than once wished that capcom would team up with TOHO and put in a special event quest or something where u can actually hunt Godzilla. (AND THEN CALL THE QUEST  "KING OF THE MONSTERS" :D) Much the same way they did special quests in japan where u could get Attack on Titan armor and look just like mikasa and eren, but u had to hunt a giant giant giant duramboros.

Did alot of Black Gravios hunts today for everyone’s urgent quests, and it just reminded me so much of Godzilla with its color, fire beam and general size and slowness.

ANYWAYS. I did a thing. I wish it was real. Hope yall like it. Happy hunting everyone.

Seijou families headcanons
  • The Iwaizumis moved in the house next the Oikawas a few months before Hajime’s birth and the mothers became pregnancy friends.
  • Oikawa’s sister, Nanami, 12 years older than him, and Hanamaki’s, Sakura, were best friends during both middle and high school. The Hanamakis moved in another part of the town when Takahiro was five, so he didn’t attend the same school as Hajime and Tooru.
  • When Tooru and Hajime were little Nanami and Sakura had fun putting make up on them and dressing them with feminine clothes.
  • Because of this, when Tooru and Hajime met Makki during their first year of high school they weren’t exactly friendly.
  • Poor Makki couldn’t understand why.
  • Oikawa calls his sister Nananee since he was little.
  • Nanami married her high school boyfriend, the one Tooru threatened at the age of five because he thought he was gonna steal his sister.
  • Nanami and Tooru always go shopping together. They once dragged Iwaizumi with them and it was the worst experience in his life.
  • Everyone in the Iwaizumi and Oikawa families makes bet on when Tooru and Hajime will get together.
  • Matsukawa is the middle child and together with the older, Shotarou, he used to prank his little brother, Ryo.
  • Actually he is the one who taught Makki how to prank people.
  • He tried to help Makki pranking Sakura but they failed miserabily. Cannot fuck with her.
  • Ryo is a shy boy and was bullied at school. Bad move, bullies. They found two angry 190cm guys waiting for them at the exit of school. Ryo was never bullied again in his life.
  • During high school, Ryo punched a classmate because he called Issei a “disgusting faggot” after seeing him with Hanamaki. If you hurt one of the Matsukawa brothers, be ready to be hurt from the other two.
  • The reason Makki’s hair is so short is because he asked Sakura to cut it when he was in his third year of middle school. She apologized for like two hours after that, but Takahiro liked that haircut and kept it.
  • Iwaizumi’s mom had a natural abortion when Hajime was nine and she suffered from depression because of this.
  • Anyway, when she discovered she was pregnant again, seven years later, she and her husband decided to kept the baby even if they were not so young anymore and it could have been dangerous for both her and the baby.
  • So Iwaizumi became the older brother of a beautiful little girl at the age of 17.
  • They named her Cho because it was the name Hajime would have liked when he was 9, since it means “butterfly”.
  • He did not cry at all. No, those weren’t tears, Shittykawa, shut up.
  • Iwaizumi was scared of holding her because he thought he could hurt her.
  • He asked Matsukawa for advice since he was the only older brother he knew, but he wasn’t that helpful since he was six when Ryo was born.
  • Unexpectedly, help came from Kyoutani, who has a six-year-old sister, Mako.
  • He is the perfect older brother. That kind of older brother who makes her sister put make up on him, plays with her dolls and braids her hair because the only thing that matters is to make her happy.
  • He even lets her win at arm wrestling.
  • Kyoutani is very protective of his sister, because their parents divorced when she was one year old and she basically grew up without a father.
  • They meet their father once in a while, since he moved to Tokyo. Everytime they meet, he takes them at the park to play volleyball or to see a match. Mako’s a little volleyball fanatic too.
  • Yahaba has an older brother, Taro, who is a sassmaster and basically the biggest kyouhaba shipper.
  • “I think I’m gay” “I think that too, little bro” “I may have a crush on Kyoutani” “Well, no shit, Shigeru” “You should help me, you’re my brother” “Last time I came seeing your match he was staring at your ass like it was made of gold, I don’t know what else you need, I cannot confess for you” “You are not helpful at all” “Always doing my best”
  • Kindaichi is an only child and he’s a bit envious of his teammates.
  • No problem, anyway, because Sakura and Nanami decided to adopt him.
  • Kindaichi’s mom hugged Iwaizumi the first time she met him because “you’re such a nice boy, Yuutarou is always talking about you”. Poor Kindaichi, he was so red everyone thought he was going to autocombuste.
  • Both Kindaichi’s parents love cooking and they always prepare something special for the team. They know everyone’s favourite food.
  • Kunimi decided not to go to his friend’s house too often because he was gaining a bit too much weight.
  • Kindaichi’s father treats him like another son.
  • Kunimi has a younger sister, Emiko, whose biggest problem is how quiet and lethargic her brother is.
  • Really, it’s almost like she is the older sister, she has some serious mom skills and is the most mature 13-year-old you could meet in Miyagi
  • Watari is also an only child but he doesn’t suffer from this, since he has tons of cousins.
  • He is the oldest cousin and often babysits the others, he’s very good with children and kids absolutely love him.
  • He often looks after Mako or Ryo and the latter loves him even thought he’s going through his “I’m not a baby anymore I don’t need a babysitter” fase.

Ok, people, it will take a while before I post anything new, so, please, consider this quick celebratory salad of colors a “sorry”.

I’m currently working on a thing for @coinelot , a Merlin/Arthur convention that will be held in Berlin in October.  Do I need to say how excited I am to be able to contribute to all the fun?
Meanwhile, as October’s still a couple of months away, the team has something special to offer to all Merthur fans out there - wall and desk calendars that contain pieces of art created by awesome artists exclusively for the project. “I still maintain that it’s your fault we’re here,” you said to Dean, glaring at him. You sat between the Winchester brothers in an interrogation room in Portland, because SOMEONE decided it was a good idea to snoop around a crime scene for evidence of demons or some other weird crap.

“How was I to know they’d think our FBI badges were fake?” Dean retorted.

“Hey, don’t say anything that’ll get us into more trouble,” Sam warned.

That was when the door opened, and the investigator stepped in. You had a look of surprise when you recognized him. A look that was mirrored on his own face.

“Y/N?” he asked in surprise. “I thought you moved to another state.”

“I did, but I started traveling with these two,” you replied, pointing at the two brothers on either side of you. They both gave small waves.

“You know this guy?” Sam asked you as the investigator sat down.

“Yeah, Nick Burkhardt. Childhood friend of mine,” you replied with a nod.

“Who is now wondering what you were doing interfering with a police investigation,” Nick stated.

“I was wondering that myself,” you replied with a pointed look at Dean. Dean opened his mouth to answer, but Sam beat him to the punch.

“We are FBI agents. Those badges aren’t fake,” Sam stated. They weren’t exactly valid at the moment, either, but Nick didn’t need to know that. “The three of us are kinda like a special team. Whenever something really weird is going on that the others might get freaked out over, they send us.”

“And we’ve seen some pretty freaky things,” Dean chimed in. “It just so happened that our current investigation overlapped with your crime scene.”

“Right. And what’s so creepy about this one?” Nick asked.

“Location, mostly,” you replied. You knew Nick. He would see right through any lies. So you tried to steer this conversation as close to the truth as possible without getting yourself marked as insane. “There has been a lot of weird stuff going on around here lately. And not just the typical Bigfoot sighting, though a Bigfoot mauling IS one of the things on the list. Werewolves, witches, aliens, a guy commanding an army of mice, among other weird things… I’m not saying all of these are real. Aliens for sure don’t exist on Earth, but isn’t it weird that sightings of all of these have been occurring right around here?”

Nick’s eyes widened as you were talking, as if he knew what you were talking about. However, after he stopped, he went back into his stern cop look. “What I find odd is the fact you’ve been traveling with known felons with multiple arrest warrants out,” he said, pulling out his phone and showing a news article that shows Sam and Dean as dangerous criminals and asks people to alert their local police if spotted.

“Those are just misunderstandings,” Dean said, a little desperately.

“You know what I was talking about, though,” you told Nick, looking him in the eye. “You know about the weird sightings. And you know me, I wouldn’t lie to you. I know how well you can read people.”

“My hands are tied with Sam and Dean. I have to arrest them on the warrants alone. But I would like to have a talk with you about what you know of the weird stuff around here,” Nick stated, before getting up and leaving the room.

Ok but like after Young Justice ends we barely get any acknowledgment of the team’s existence. It’s implied in Geoff Johns’ Teen Titans but it’s stretching it at best. Some crazy stuff happened in the YJ comics and, darn it, I want those ridiculous but heartfelt times, remembered.

I want people to be talking to Red Robin and suddenly, someone brings up YJ and Tim just goes catatonic. He’s standing there as all his past frustrations come back, he’s having war flashbacks of trying to control that mess of a team. Someone save this boy.

Even when they leave the Team, the Titans still maintain good, strong relationships with Cissie and Greta. They help Greta adjust to being a real, living girl and keep Cissie up to date with what’s going on in the hero community. I feel like Tim and Cassie especially would make the effort to keep in contact.

Kon’s outfit and behavior in YJ is never forgotten. Ever. It’s brought up as blackmail constantly. As new members join the Titans, they must go through the initiation of watching videos of Superboy in his jacket with his horrendous slang and ridiculous behavior just so no one will ever take him serious. Conner is so annoyed, it was the 90’s he was 6 months old, let it go.

Remember Slobo? That was so weird? Why does nobody mention how frigging weird that whole thing was?? He gets a special memorial in Titans Tower. No one other than the YJ members know who he is and anyone who asks is brushed off. It was just another weird aspect of YJ they love and accept. You just had to be there.

The Titans initially receive a lot of media backlash due to their behavior on Young Justice and they weren’t exactly trusted. The JLA and other members have to come forward and prove that the kids have matured now, they aren’t going to cause the end of the world anymore. Look, we even gave Superboy a real shirt.

Bart misses YJ the most, yes, he’s Kid Flash now but he loved being Impulse and he loved the crazy wackiness of the Team. It was the first place that ever really felt like home for him. Most of the time YJ is brought up, it’s Bart who mentions it. “Remember that time YJ did…” and the whole Team groans but joins in on the memories. Non-YJ Titans are rolling their eyes as the old-timers go into their crazy old Team. But YJ was something special, something that only a Young Justice member would understand.

How Team 7 is a collective hallucination of Naruto fandom  - or - a poetic story of how Sakura killed Team 7 and became the most hated character of them all

First of all, Team 7 is overly romanticized by the fandom, thats for sure. Team 7 is the most dysfunctional team out of them all, but people do tend to overlook this fact and praise it as some kind of irreplaceable ideal in the life of every member of that team (sometimes even as an ideal for other teams as well). There are reasons for that. Team 7 was presented to us as the center of the story, center of the universe that was slowly unfolding before our eyes. We also had our expectations because of Naruto’s genre, we knew that this was the story about bonds, so we expected all the main characters to become inseparable like one true family. We saw what we wanted to see.

Funny thing is that it never happened. (I don’t know the author of this awesome pic, sry)

There was this amazing bond between Naruto and Sasuke and later on there was a strong bond between Naruto and Sakura, but those two bonds are not Team 7, they didn’t even coincide in time. Team 7 dynamic was crooked and skew, Team 7 never looked genuinely whole and the reason for that was probably Sakura. From the very start she was an oddball in the ninja universe - a cocky girl with no special ability, who was more interested in her hair and love than fighting, who had no ambitions and no resolve. It looked like she was a traveler, who had just stepped out of the portal from another world with no wars and no tragedy. Her calm background was not even nearly enough to explain how she grew up this way. She was ignorant on a whole new level to the point where she seemed delusional and straight inadequate. This was the first nail in her coffin- Kishimoto wanted her to be more “realistic” but all he manged to do is create a character that seemed out of place, seemed non-organic to the world of blood and tension she was born into AND alien to other characters that surrounded her (Hinata actually was very organic, see what I’m explaining here?). And Sakura wasn’t even humble to smooth her way out of it, she was bossy and demanding, constantly stressing the rough stitches with which she was sewn to the story. Ino was somewhat the same, but she was not focused on as much, she had a very special ability and she was also given a beauty point when she saved Sakura from bullying (labeling Sakura as average in beauty department was also a great move from Kishi, gj!). Actually Sakura’s “rebellion” against Ino was put into such a sexist context that it looked nothing but petty in contrast to all other rivalries we had in the manga.

Basically Sakura had a false start, but her further progress was even more dramatic. She became a true scapegoat for Kishimoto, who needed an easy tool to vivify the plot - she was written to be a weak crybaby to contrast boys and highlight their strength, she was written as an aggressive bitch to make Naruto’s struggle even more prominent, she was written as a shallow idiot to highlight Sasuke’s maturity. And just like that not only was she despised by the readers from the get go, she couldn’t possibly be respected by Sasuke and was a bitch to Naruto, ignoring him most of the time. She couldn’t possibly be integrated in Team 7, but formally was its part, so she became this wedge in the natural flow that prevented Team 7 from becoming whole. It was simply too late as Kishimoto has used her for far too long. I argue that if Sakura was a bit less fangirly towards Sasuke (aka not chase him away and anger him) and a little bit more patient with Naruto (aka not push him away from every scene to be alone with Sasuke) we would have gotten the above picture in the manga, but it didn’t happen. How could we get a steady shot of the three if one was chased away and the other one pushed away? Kakashi was also kind of on the sides, but at least he had a reason to be, he was a superior. When Sakura finally became a warrior and cured her short-sightedness a bit, Sasuke was gone. And then the glorious “nostalgia-period” began.

Everyone says "you must be a leader"

From the time I was a small child, everyone- teachers, parents (not even necessarily my own), religious figures, scouts, sports, anything and everything in my life said “you have to be a leader”, “learn to lead”, “develop leadership qualities”.

However, much like the problem Loki and Thor ran into, I realized, that if everyone was a leader… who were they leading?

In the past couple of years, I have realized two things:

1) This mindset has led us to a dangerous place. Obviously, not everyone can lead a team, or a business, or anything really. Even if you specialize in something and become indispensably invaluable, you are still not guaranteed leadership. Nor are you necessarily suited for it.
In order to fill this, people have done one of two things: a) given up any hope, accepted their participation awards, and resigned themselves to dead last. Or b) decided that they were going to create a leadership position at any cost. See the leaders of discourse movements or hopeless battles that lead nowhere- or worse, detract from actually vital issues.
In telling our children that they must lead, we have eliminated the idea that followers and support are just as important to a group. You can’t lead well without help, and you can’t lead at all without people who will follow.

2) I am not a leader. Let me clarify: I can lead; (and I do think that that should be something that we are taught- the ‘how’ of leading) but I wouldn’t be ideal.
I’m not comfortable having other people’s lives in my hands. Even for something as simple as determining whose schedules I do and do not work around for the sake of the group.
But you know what I am? A kick ass second-in-command. I will gladly enforce a good rule, and I can research and advise someone else on any decision they’ll make, if I need. I can and will play the bad cop and the good cop and the mother or father if asked, and I can execute orders with creativity and efficiency.
And I am okay with that.

It’s okay to play a supporting character. Leaders don’t get far without someone to help nitpick their plans, or even just someone to keep them on the straight-and-narrow (or crooked-and-wide, if that’s what you want). It’s okay if you aren’t a leader.

Yes, it’s important that you know how, because honestly, there will come a point in most people’s lives where they will need to lead, even if it’s just leading a discussion.

I’m not saying don’t live up to your potential. Please do! If someone tells you that you would be a great leader- take their words under advisement! Fulfill that potential and push yourself to try. Strive to be the best you that you are capable of being.

But if you aren’t a leader in everything you do? You’re not a failure. You are you. Be a kick-ass support, or a moral cheerleader, or even just the home for someone to come back to. You are still vital and valued. Don’t let anyone tell you otherwise.
