this show is the actual best thing of the season

Happy Anniversary Barney & Robin!

16 Steps in the ever growing relationship of Barney and Robin.

I worked on this all day so sorry about posting this so late I was busy today so I’m posting this now. This is a super long post so sorry if it’s a bit much for tumblr but I wanted to do a long post of all the ranting I’ve done on this site so this is the post.

Friends, Bros, Best Friends, Lovers, Boyfriend and Girlfriend, Exes, Chemistry, Adventurous, Frienemies, Soulmates, Fiances, Roommates, Destiny, Husband and Wife, Family.

1. Friends

It’s a great thing that they started their relationship out on the friendship note because it made their over all relationship strong, they got to know each other through their friendship with each other and I think their friendship made them understand each other better. They, never judged or put each other down in any way they built the foundation of their relationship on their blossoming friendship in the beginning. Eventually, they became best friends, friends who can rely on each other (despite whatever you think they relied heavily on each other’s friendship because they truly are the only ones who truly understand one another on a more deeper level and it was good that their friendship was so strong that they went to each other for support and a good conversation whenever they needed to be pulled back to reality). They, found this amazing connection with each other from the minute they met and had their first interactions, they built up a respect and understanding of each other. I believe that they were the ones in the small group of friends who opened up to only each other without judgment, they truly got each other because they are the same in that way. Their pasts taught them that they can’t really rely on anyone so they rely on themselves to get by in life. They, are independent, that independence is the thing that they old against themselves very protectively that when they met they were both very closed off people and their friendship made them open up and trust each other in a way they never trusted in anyone before. This friendship cemented their over all friendship and relationship through out the series and made their whole relationship stronger and that made their feelings for each other that more true and real later on.

2. Bros

The, amount of fun they had with each other which I will write more about down this thread was such a joy to watch. It was light hearted fun, they never had the kind of relationship where they seemed to just let loose and be free whenever they felt like it. Their, friendship was built on the amount of fun they had together and made their broship that more believable because this showed how much they trusted each other and in each other to be a team. When, they played laser tag they were a team who helped each other win the game and they never failed or lost at the game of life because together they CAN and do anything and everything. I love their friendship because they always seemed so happy being carefree and having fun and that never went away it was always there and it was kind of something they also seemed to rely on in their life and relationship with each other. They, never had this with anyone else and I think it’s great that they were once so closed off to everything and anyone but once they are together having the fun they did together, like played laser tag, running around the museum, or making the bets they used to make challenging each other, that made their relationship stronger because they trusted each other so much that they are happiest when they are themselves, they are only themselves when playing around and having the fun they did and I don’t doubt that’s what they will do for the rest of their lives TOGETHER.

3. Best Friends

I know I talked about this already but I want to dive into their best friend status which seemed to happen quite fast. Not, only is their friendship and broship something they tend to rely on the most but that turned their relationship from just friends to best friends in only a few months of knowing each other. By the end of season 1 they were best friends, and they did refer to each other as that through out the show until maybe later on in the series when they were in love and wanting to spend their lives together. But, their friendship showed me and them how truly they care about someone when you don’t even need to think to be there for your friend, like when she took care of him when he was sick. Barney, was there for all of his friends, I don’t care what people say about him and I will always defend him to the point of protecting him. He cares so deeply and truly about Robin, while Marshall and Lily have each other and Ted does whatever he does. Barney and Robin have each other and their friendship showed me how much they support and are there for each other, that is what their best friend status turned their relationship into. I think the way they support and care about each other made them both grow individually and as a couple later on. Their, friendship is something they depended on in the earlier seasons of the show and you can see that more clearly in season 3. Barney and Robin went to each other for anything, for a conversation, for honesty, for a bit of fun, for a laugh, she was there for him with the whole stalking thing in season 3 and actually wanted to be the person he hits on to find the person who was stalking him. Then, obviously we don’t have to analyze the Sandcastles episode to know just how much they care. Barney, stopped everything he was doing to comfort her when she was just dumped and felt devastated over that. He, was always there for her when it counted and he never ever wanted anything from her in return he did it because he cared and wanted to, not to get anything out of it, to hit on her or to date her. He did it only because he cared and knew she needed the support, kindness and caring he provided for her in that scene. And, their chemistry was empowering, not only as a viewer and a shipper but for them obviously it led to a kiss and them sleeping together which is another issue I’m going to talk about.

4. Lovers

Okay, so they slept together there isn’t anything wrong with that and Barney DID NOT break the bro code despite what he, Ted or anyone might think. He, was there for Robin when she needed some comfort and support and SHE was the one who kissed him. She, invited him over to watch the video, she moved over on the couch while he didn’t move at all, she was looking at him through out that scene, she was laughing and commenting on the video with him and she KISSED him. He never did or would take advantage of her, Robin is his friend first who he cares about the most, more than anyone and he would never invade her like that in any kind of way. She, was the one who made all the moves no matter the amount of alcohol she had. But, that one night led to them falling in love and that has everything to do with their friendship, their very legendary friendship turned into a lifetime of love for them.

Having, that first go around with a relationship made that relationship and love grow ten folds and they never stopped loving each other. Their, summer together, I wish we were shown more of that summer but they looked so happy and carefree at the time and clearly having the time of their lives together, just being together, enjoying their time in secret together, they did what they wanted and I think that’s how their relationship should go. They, do what they want, what they feel they want to do and they don’t care, being together for them makes them happy and I’ve never seen them as happy as they are when they’re together, and that is mainly to do with their strong friendship it just turned into something more: a lifetime of love, support, caring and it’s better if they’re together than apart because they are themselves, they make each other happy by just being themselves and they only could do that with each other without being judged or put down because they understand the other one and know when to let the other one be who they are. They, never had that with anyone and when they became lovers/boyfriend and girlfriend they started to change the way they were when they’re just single individuals and become a supporting team, teammates, soulmates, mates that are in love and make each other strong and happy.

5. Boyfriend and Girlfriend

Despite how brief their season 5 was, they were already boyfriend and girlfriend in their secret summer together they just weren’t defining it and they didn’t need to because they got by without labeling their relationship, they clearly did have a great fun time together then and were clearly in love to the point of a brief engagement. More, on that down thread… But, this first go around at a relationship made them both grow, before this or with anyone else they never grew or changed who they are or what they want in life for anyone else. They are lone wolfs who like their freedom but they are lone wolfs who can’t live without each other, I don’t call living for them being apart, they need to be together and this first relationship showed just how much they love each other and want a life together. After, their summer they defined the relationship however forgetting the breakup for a moment. They were pretty committed to each other, she had her things at his place, went to his place most of the time, they seemed to be attached to each other’s hips that whole time so much so that they got engaged despite being on the cusp of breaking up. They, got engaged and I think that was key to the reason they had to get engaged when they got back together because they were/are in love and that’s why they were trying to hold on to their relationship. They, didn’t want to break up but they had some growing to do and learning before getting back together and knowing what they want. But, their first relationship showed just how strong this love really is.

6. Exes

I think it wasn’t necessary to break them up but that is just my opinion however I also think the break up actually was a good thing for their relationship. It saved their relationship from becoming unrepairable. They were miserably unhappy after their breakup and it was clear that they weren’t over each other, how it ended, they regretted the break up as I said in another post. Barney and Robin were complete messes after they broke up and it took years, not just months to get over that, the pain was real and it was heartbreaking to watch. They were dragging their feet getting back together when they still loved each other, both were in pain and went through a lot to get to being engaged again and came out of all that mess in the wake of their breakup better and their relationship was so much stronger because of that heartbreak. The, other relationships they had with other people never did or will compare to each other, they never stopped thinking or loving each other and through their friendship they repaired their relationship through season 6 and it showed just how much they need each other in a lot of many ways. They broke up and were messes but they overcame that and their friendship and relationship was more stronger because of their breakup.

7. Chemistry

Through the show, they built up a relationship with each other but their chemistry was a whole other thing. It’s important that their friendship was built around their chemistry and that never went away or will go away because their chemistry is something that was naturally there from the beginning. Lily, has said they have chemistry that never goes away I believe that is true, it never did or will go away it remains apart of their relationship forever, they never had that type of chemistry with anyone. I think it’s great that Neil and Cobie made something out of nothing just from their chemistry alone both on and off screen and that cemented Barney and Robin’s entire relationship and makes me believe that this chemistry will forever pull them back together IF they ever broke up again. I will not mention the failnale but it’s true their chemistry has always pulled them towards each other and always will that never goes away. They are physically and emotionally connected to each other through their chemistry and it was something that was always there and strong in their relationship from the beginning.

8. Adventurous

As, mentioned above they like to have fun and challenge each other both in life and for fun. They, love the thrills of what life can bring, they like to have fun, play games, they act like children sometimes because they didn’t have a childhood that normal kids have, so they use their lost childhood as adults, they explore life together. Don’t tell me that Barney doesn’t love adventure or traveling because that is so laughable. Just, because you grow doesn’t mean you’re going to lose who you naturally are and always was. He, has lived his life on the edge, likes to have fun, he even has a whole book on the thrill of picking up women. He loves the play in life, the women not so much. But, the thrill he loves and the only woman he likes the thrill of adventure with is Robin. She is the only person in his life who is equally adventurous and likes to have fun and they found that in their relationship. When, he asked her to do crazy stuff on the news when they first met she did it, not because she was afraid of losing her job or would be embarrassed, she did it because she wanted to and maybe a little because Barney wanted her to. But, mostly she does stuff with Barney because she loves to hang out with him and be around his out going personality which she also has and has lost or was taken from her when she was a child. They, never had the kind of childhood that young kids have or the parents who loved and supported them so as adults they found that they can be fun, silly, act like children and be what they weren’t or couldn’t be as children. They, enjoy life and they don’t like being in one place, they don’t like boring and they aren’t going to ever be that apple picking, white picket fence, suburbs, sitting on the front porch type couple. And, I believe they won’t be sitting around bored in hotel rooms or hating traveling because that is not who they are and they will never be the Marshall and Lily kind of couple. They, are who they are and they love who they are, they don’t want to change that or who they are to actually be happy together.

9. Friends/Enemies

Okay, I wanted to find a word that goes along with this relationship but couldn’t think of anything. However, the word enemies was used in Barney and Robin’s wedding invitation on the HIMYM wedsite back at the end of season 8 so I thought this is the right word to use in this post. Frienemies, first of all they are not enemies they are friends who had gone through hard times together who love each other, they had times where they weren’t talking to each other like season 7 and times when they were mad at each other but they are not enemies who hate each other so that word is so odd to me even now, like 5 years after that post on the website was posted. Anyway, they are friends first and foremost but I wanted to talk mostly about what they had gone through to get to the point of getting engaged and actually wanting a life together.

They, went through so much before they met, after they met, before they got together both times and in between but they came out of all of that unscathed and more aware of who they are and what they want. They, found an amazing connection since they met and formed a great union together as a team who are always there for each other and love to be around each other, they care and support one another and have their unforgiving and forgiving moments but over all they aren’t programmed to hate each other and they never will. Not counting any failnale stuff, they aren’t those people at all however they aren’t perfect and they have their moments but as a couple they’ll get through it as long as they don’t hate each other, that won’t happen but we as shippers we do love some angst and boy did these two have their share of it. It was both fun and sad but they made it and were better because of it it shows how strong this love is.

10. Soulmates

Barney & Robin are the very rare definition of the word soulmate, or words soul mates. They are friends, they are partners, they are in love and they are apart of each other. “They, are your best friend, and your soulmate, you can’t wait to spend your life with them.” And, it was true for them, they couldn’t wait to spend the rest of their lives together however they took their sweet time realizing that they want to be together because both were terrified that it wouldn’t work out again and it will end like the last time. Robin, never had doubts about her love for him or his love for her but she did have doubts about if they could really make it, if they can go the distance that was her main issue. I also think she thought he would never really be ready to make that commitment to her that she wanted from him, and that’s why she took so long to realize that she actually wants to be with him but is scared that she could lose him and for her she doesn’t want that to ever happen, they are both so lost and don’t know what to do with themselves when they’re apart or aren’t around each other. They are anchors, book ends, they can’t live without the other one there by their side in whatever situation and I think that’s a really real life thing, living without that other half of you gets you nowhere in life and makes life less fun, it stalls life, it makes them miserable. They are happiest when together, they aren’t happy being apart and the amount of time they spent debating, thinking, being confused, unsure and unaware made them both miserable for along time. They, are true soulmates who always find their way back to each other and that chemistry will always forever pull/push them together in every situation no matter the situation. They, are in love and always will be and that kind of love should never be tested, discarded, forgotten, destroyed or not taken seriously, because even if life moves fast, your life can stall and for a while they stalled on getting back together because of the fear of losing each other, they almost did a few times but in the end they got it right getting back together when they did or they would have still been fighting their feelings and pretending they aren’t in love at that time so The Robin made sense for a push to get them to come to their senses. The, real sad thing isn’t that tragic failnale it’s the fact that these two found each other and lost each other in that horrible universe and were miserable. The, point of being soulmates is you can’t actually have a life with anyone else or be truly single because you will always be connected to that person who is your soulmate, for them it’s each other and always will be.

11. Fiances

I said above that they were engaged before, and it counts as a brief detour back to each other by getting engaged by getting back together. I don’t know if getting engaged first was a good idea however I loved their engagement and the meaning of The Robin because it showed just how very keen Barney is about the real Robin and I think that is the real meaning of naming this play The Robin. He, knows the real Robin, every move, everything she says and does he knows who she really is and the fact that he knew that she was fighting her feelings for him shows how he really knows her. He, planned this play for only two months however, I think as a head canon he was planning it since he met her and I never doubted that Barney is very aware of how she works. Who needs Robin 101 when you have The Robin as proof that he knows her better than anyone. He knew that she was in love with him but was scared to make a move and tell him how she felt so he had to push her to make her realize just how much she was killing herself by not being with him when she wanted to for at least two years. It truly amazes me as a shipper to watch Robin come undone through The Robin play but end up being really completely happy, and happiest when Barney was down on one knee proposing to her. He was committing in the biggest way possible in a relationship, it’s something she always wanted and doubted that he would actually want from her. The fact that he was trying and committed to her in season 5, the first time they were together can be kind of a test for the relationship however he was very committed and in love with her so he committed and once he proposed all worries stopped and she said yes because she couldn’t waste anymore time being apart from him and fighting her feelings because it really was destroying her, and made her run and be in denial for along time not in just two months but since they met.

They, fell in love through their friendship and it opened their eyes and hearts to only each other and I think it’s the whole point of that scene in “Ring Up” at the end when she realizes that Barney is all she really needs to be happy. He, gets her drinks, he opens the doors and holds them for her, he is there always for her, is aware of who this woman truly is and that’s all Robin needs to be fulfilled and completed in life.

12. Roommates

Even when they were dating Robin was practically living with him as I mentioned above she had her stuff at his place and he never minded or cared that she had her things in the Fortress. It shows the commitment he was making even then and it also showed that she was making a commitment to him by just being with him, being his girlfriend and not just sleeping with him and having her fun. They, made this commitment to each other very surprisingly quickly without even defining the relationship and it worked for them. They, never complained or changed each other to suit whatever the other wanted and don’t want and it’s really important to their character development which I believed started with Barney falling in love with Robin after they slept together and her feelings just became so powerless and emotional for her, she truly was scared of losing him and that says a lot about how much she needs him in her life and as her partner, they care so much that even something as simple as bringing personal belongings to the other ones place says how committed they are. I’m considering this the first of many character developments of their relationship and as individuals since they had already been growing individually for sometime but neither had a relationship that they really committed to. I mean, they just seemed to come together way before they actually got engaged (this S5 engagement not counting) but the real one and the one that matters to both of them. They, grew up so much after they dated and it helped them settle into their engagement very easily and know what works and doesn’t work for them. They, did things differently than season 5 and that was good for their lifetime commitment to each other later on.

13. Destiny

Neither believed in destiny, they laughed at things that are couply they hated being attached in a relationship, they didn’t like exposing themselves to others mostly those they didn’t trust but with each other they found each other without trying. They, found each other through their friendship and the moment they met was the moment their destiny to each other started and just meeting each other changed each other in a way they never changed for other relationships. They are true soulmates, they’re destiny, they met, become friends and just seem to find this ease with each other that they never had or will have with anyone else. They fell in love, I mean they could have remained best friends without the romance but with the chemistry they have, how deep they care and the love they have for each other it was bound to happen no matter what and at many times during the series including season 1, yes season 1 when they just met. But, the moment they brod out together was the moment their destiny started and it was even part of their soulmate montage, it’s so beautiful that they bonded early on however they could have had a relationship that was more than friendship at that point and “Zip, Zip, Zip” proofed that they have a very strong connection and that chemistry was just out standing and fun to watch.

14. Husband and Wife

They, are truly married. Truthfully, I’ve never seen them happier than they were when they were up at that alter getting married, it was like nobody was there around them, it was just them gazing lovingly at each other and knowing they want to spend their lives together. They went through hell and came out of it better and happier than ever I believe that the couple up on that alter was destined for happiness together, they were even a little giddy with her jumping up and down beaming happily as they were pronounced man and wife, his smile was very real and not faked for public show, he was truly happy and was beaming as well, they laughed and smiled the entire ceremony and never took their eyes off each other. That, is a showing of a truly happy, settled, committed, legendary couple getting married and those smiles never left their faces after the ceremony and I truly think these two will have fun, crazy,  adventurous times together and that will never end it will get only better as a married couple. They, are just getting started when they got married, sure life has downs but it also has ups but together, as long as they have each other they can make a lifetime of happiness and new memories. No matter what happens in their lives, they have each other and I will never believe these two people who can’t live without the other one there by their side would want to lose that and lose it all by losing each other. Barney IS not the guy in that failnale and that was NOT Robin Scherbatsky, maybe lesbian Robin or some other weird chick but that was not Robin Scherbatsky, the cool, fun scotch drinking, laser tag playing, gun using, independent, awesome, caring, supportive, loving Robin who was always there for Barney and cared about his happiness ahead of her own. This love shall never stop, fade or end not forever anyway, they will go on in life happy and committed to only each other without losing themselves because losing themselves means losing who they truly are and those two people in the failnale, those were not the awesome, fun, loving couple we’ve seen in the show it wasn’t them. They’re in love and that’s never going away, it only grows and finds new ways of how much they love and need each other.

15. Family

As, this post ends finally lol I wanted to talk about them as a family and not just friends or a couple. While, Marshall and Lily have each other and Ted has Tracy eventually, they are the only ones left if they never got married so they would somehow end up together in any situation. But, the moment they got engaged is the moment they aren’t just a couple they are a family who support and love each other. Barney is Robin’s family because he’s not only her husband but her best friend and she already thought of him as her family being part of the group, the gang’s friendship was the thing that kept her in NY and it was Barney who she wanted as her husband so he’s automatically her family. Her friends are her extended family and the family who were always there for her unlike her own family her friends are her family and she will never leave that no matter what and she would never leave Barney and he would never leave her, he wanted to marry her for a reason and that reason was to be with her for the rest of his life and Robin wanted to spend her life with him and never really wavered on wanting a life with him and would never want to be apart from him, if she had to travel for work he wouldn’t always go with her but it would never be a problem for them, they both love adventure, they love to explore new things because new is always better and they hate being apart, that’s the point of wanting to spend forever together. They, married so they could no longer be without each other and it’s clear that’s what they wanted for along time, they wanted to be together forever and the love they have would never just let them give up and he would never complain about her job. He, fell in love with the independent Robin Scherbatsky, he fell for the whole package not just an image so in a way he would follow her anywhere and every where as long as he’s with her he’s happy. In, any other relationship Robin would easily give up her marriage but not with Barney the only person she actually cares about on a more deeper and real level and can’t live without. They, literally seem to really be lost with themselves without each other there by their side in life and that’s the reason they wanted to get married and wanted a life together. Their, happiness is important and not something that should be tested or given up on they should live their lives the way they want to, with love, support and as a team which they have been since they met.

16. Forever

In, the end however they are happy and in love they came so far why would they ever want to go back to that. Barney, has said he was miserable and unhappy with the single lifestyle he was living for along time and Robin was always so focused on her career to care about a relationship but Barney was the exception, she created a life with him that she seemed to not want to end and she was so sad and lost for along time, after they broke up she was in so much pain that she couldn’t even date anyone and usually that isn’t her, but with Barney. She, truly fell in love with him so much so that nobody else made her commit, she had other relationships and she seemed to commit but she was never really in love with those other men. It was always Barney and will always be Barney, she would never give that up for misery and loneliness. Barney doesn’t either, losing each other isn’t an option, if they get to a bad time in their marriage/relationship they should never give up, they would go to counseling and try more harder and realistically to keep their relationship and marriage from collapsing. Giving up is what they did in season 5 but season 8 and 9 they were totally different people who weren’t going to just up and give up on their relationship, this love will always be in tact despite all the problems they might face along the line, they never would give that up for the life they used to live, the life they both felt lost and unfulfilled with. They, made this commitment and that’s something both never wanted at one time but they just couldn’t live without each other. It says a lot about two very independent people who will always be independent especially Robin. This relationship can always be repaired and this love will never end or be forgotten it’s forever remembered as their box of feels from their relationship had said. She used to not care about photos or things from other relationship, she even said she never kept anything minus her dogs from past relationships but I don’t doubt she kept pictures and items from their first relationship and that’s the reason she brought that up to him, it shows that she’s not only still in love with him, she can’t give up things from the relationship and never will this includes the man himself. Losing, him or discarding him would never happen because that is just not who Robin is at least not with Barney.

This, love is forever and just gets more and more interesting and real as they spend a lifetime together never giving up on the relationship again because that worked out so well the first time they broke up. Their, marriage will last and I believe with character/personal growth it will only get better and they would be there when they need each other and go through life together that’s part of the reason I love this relationship it’s a very real, interesting relationship one that isn’t normal in TV but should be used as an example to other relationships on TV as a couple who grew and overcame so much in their lives to end up with a happy ending in a very real, realistic way and neither wanted to give up on each other it’s why they always remembered their first go in a relationship.

You know what pisses me off the most about the PaleyFest fuckery, though.

Yes, it’s infuriating that the Executive Producer on a show would rather blame his cast for the show’s ratings as opposed to perhaps his (and his colleagues’) own involvement in that happening. Guggenheim proved a long time ago that he is an absolute waste of space like that who has absolutely no respect for his audience and his product.

What’s driving me absolutely INSANE is that they had the audacity to say that in front of Stephen Amell and David Ramsey. What’s more it was an answer to a question posed by David Ramsey (”why don’t we get soda on Arrow like they do on Flash?” - to which Fucktard Extraordinaire answered “maybe if Arrow’s ratings were higher you would”).

Like WHAT THE ACTUAL FUCK?!

Stephen and David bust their asses for this show. Stephen easily does a lot of the promoting by himself and in his own free time because the CW can’t be fucked to care about Arrow. He constantly ties his charity initiatives to the show. His various appearances on other shows (American Ninja Warrior, WWE, etc) always mention that he’s on Arrow.

Stephen is so protective and so proud of the show and naturally so, because despite of all its misgivings and missteps, he plays the titular character and he’s at the helm of this shindig.

David has never had one bad thing to say about anyone even when his character was pushed to the sidelines and ignored despite common logic (as in they’d put Diggle on comms and send 2 newbies to the field to fight some super tough villain that not even the entire team arrow could take down). His arcs recently have been super sluggish and just more of one and the same (guilt guilt guilt). Yet David has nothing but love for everyone and is always excited to talk about and promote John Diggle and the team.

These two men have stuck by Arrow in its stupidest, most illogical times. They never once went - yeah that’s bullshit. The writers fucked up on this or that. Or if they did voice their displeasure they tried to do it as gently as possible with more grace than these stupid fucking executive producers deserve.

And then to have these same EPs cackle and have Gustin and Benoist join in on the laughter as if it were some fucking joke as opposed to a passive-aggresive insult to the work David, Stephen, Emily, Willa and Paul have been doing for the past 5 years (as well as of course any other actor who has been on Arrow or is involved with it). All of them have busted their asses for YEARS for this show and have tried to do their best with shitty writing. Katie Cassidy and Emily Bett Rickards have had to deal with actual fucking bullies and harassment because of the fictional characters they play, as well.

The fact that it comes from the same people responsible for Season 3 and Season 4B….. I mean, the fucking audacity.

Newsflash dumbasses: Your cast is the only good thing you have left. Your cast is not the problem. You’re the fucking problem.

i just started crying cause they cancelled sense8 and …. i don’t know what to do with myself. that show was SO IMPORTANT, it was so beautifull made, so wondrously created (as a budding filmmaker and lover of travel it inspired me in ways i cannot comprehend), it had the best diversity i have single-handedly seen of any show and …. now it’s gone. on that GOD DAMN CLIFFHANGER, of all things. we’re never gonna see the sensates all together. we’re never gonna know if wolfgang’s okay. we’re never gonna know if the sensats actually find the happiness they so deeply deserve. my heart hurts today, a lot. thank you, sense8. so long, and farewell.

((p.s. can we crowdfund a third season i want to but the budget for the show is damn huge pls ideas are appreciated))

Tacky, cheap, ugly. The writers will regret the fuck out of this. If this was always the plan, it should have been done in S2, there was no need to fuck around with a wedding. They actually killed off the one person who’s absence would irrevocably alter the very foundation of the show & for what? A three second cheap twist that the audience will resent forever? Ended the best written relationship/marriage on TV right now so Jane can get back with her ex? Be miserable for two seconds before a time jump? Start from the beginning & redo the same things we’ve already seen for 3 seasons? OH, AND RUINED THE BEST BROMANCE TELEVISION HAS EVER SEEN?

Ahhhh. I can’t believe I thought Jane The Virgin was the one show that wasn’t infested with the usual CW stupidity & garbage tropes. You almost had me, fuckers.

I just saw a post saying sana shouldn’t have been main yet… okay hear me out sana being the main this season is so important, like look at our current political climate, everything that is happening in America, with trump and banning Muslim countries.

And then we have the media which constantly shows Muslims as terrorists, there are a lot of preconceived notions about how Muslims are and should be. Sana being main allows a lot of people to get insight into the religion and how majority of us actually live (especially while trying to balance religion and living in a western society.)

Already, we have seen so many important things about Islam through Sana’s perspective and this is why her season is so important.

The things that sucked about season two

Ah yes, the most fun list of them all. Now while there are definitely more than just five things wrong with this season, we’d be here all day if I put more. So we’ll stick with five. All righty, lets go! (Fair warning, this one is a bit longer as far as words go. Just a heads up.)

5. Sanvers: Before you grab your pitchforks, hear me out. It’s not the the relationship itself that I have a problem with, that aspect is fine. It’s more of how they handled it. To clarify, when they announced that Alex was gonna have a girlfriend this season, they treated it like it was the second coming. I mean everyone was so hyped, but when you get down right to it, it’s honestly nothing more than just a regular romance arc. Don’t get me wrong, I really liked it at first. I thought Alex coming out was very well handled and well written, Chyler and Floriana have really good chemistry, and their scenes are nice. But I just felt it didn’t add anything significant to the story. And before you say “oh well it gives Alex someone to love and lean on”, we’ll get to that later. So yea, good relationship, just overhyped. Hence it’s the least of the problems I had.

4. James as Guardian: I’m not gonna lie, this one I’m a little biased on. As I said in my previous list, Im an enormous Superman fan. So that means I have a fairly strong image of Jimmy Olson. I’m not trying to piss on Mechad Brooks, he’s not bad, I’ve just never had much of a Jimmy Olson vibe from him. I mean Jimmy is supposed to represent the Everyman, the little guy. He’s cool because even though he’s just this average guy, he’s best friends with Superman, that is really inspiring. And instead we get this mega hunky, Rico Suave type guy who refuses to go by the name Jimmy. Ummm, ok….. Though I will admit, James actually did grow on me through season one. While it wasn’t my image of Jimmy, I did learn to like and respect this version of the character. But once he became Guardian, that’s what finally pushed it for me. Once again, what does it add to the story? I mean once in a while we’ll see him beat up some bad guys, he’ll help out the team every now and then, but that’s pretty much it. And it just came completely out of nowhere too. I mean he all of a sudden knows martial arts and wants to be a hero? No build up, no hints, nothing. Just slam, bam, thank you ma'am, and now I’m a vigilante. And the funny thing is, James has proven that he can be just as much of a hero just by being himself. Heck, I’d say his more heroic moments are when he’s not Guardian. His scene where he brought Marcus out of his trance was easily one the most powerful scenes in the show, and he achieved it just by being himself, no mask needed. It’s just too random, and too pointless if you ask me.

3. Snapper replacing Cat: My biggest problem with this was the fact that they tried to make Snapper a replacement for her, and they just made him annoying. I mean I understand what they’re doing, he’s being a jackass so that Kara can mature as a reporter. I mean the idea itself isn’t horrible, and it is effective to Kara as a character, there is just one little problem with it. They already did all that crap in season one with Cat! It was just repetitive and lazy. Why do mentor figures always have to be giant dickwads? It’s been done a billion times before. Why not have Snapper be a nice guy? It wouldn’t have taken away anything. I speak from personal experience when I say, you can give creative criticism without being douchebag about it. At least when Cat was being a bitch, it was still very clear that she actually cared about Kara and wanted her to grow and succeed. With Snapper, what did we get? “At a girl Danvers” and “I was rooting for you”. Riveting, isn’t it? It just seemed like a wasted opportunity. We could’ve had a new and interesting mentor relationship, and you just threw it away for an overused cliche.

2. Lack of Kara and Alex: Believe me when I tell you, this one came very close to being number one. Kara and Alex’s relationship was easily the best thing about season one. Their relationship was the heart of the whole show. Looking back on season two, I can think of maybe one couch scene that they had (and that’s not an exaggeration, I literally can’t remember there being any more than just one). This is actually one of the problems I had with Alex and Maggie. It seems as though they’re purposely trying to separate Kara and Alex by giving them love interests. I mean having a love interest is ok, if it’s not out of character, and boy oh boy, was she out of character. I mean for starters, there is no way Alex would let Kara be taken to a parallel Earth without her, she would not push Kara to date you know who, and Alex actually ditching Kara on her birthday to go to some stupid concert? Pardon my French, but what the fuck?! What bullshit are you dumbasses playing at? I mean did you forget the entire season of character development you built up for these two? We almost never get any serious interactions with them. The only ones I can think of were when Kara thought about going to Metropolis and when Alex came out. Other than that, nothing. They never had a scene after Jeremiah betrayed them, we never even got a scene after Alex almost fucking drowned! They practically have nothing. In fact, I remember specifically when Alex said she wasn’t slipping away, I actually yelled “bullshit” at my tv screen. Cause that is exactly what she is doing. Did you forget that Alex went into a highly dangerous dream world (cough cough what should have happened in the musical episode) and flew into a space with a decades old spacecraft to save Kara??? Nope, sorry, you are the weakest link. I want them back. I want sister nights, I want couch scenes, and I want them actually communicating like family again. And like I said earlier, this one came very close to being number one. So I’m sure you must be wondering what number one could possibly be. Well to quote Nicolas Cage from ‘Face Off’: “Take one goddamn guess.”

1. Mon-El: …………Where do I begin? Let’s start with the basics. He’s annoying, he’s a terrible love interest for Kara, he’s a pathetic excuse for a superhero, he has some of the weakest character development I’ve ever seen, he takes up way too much screen time, and he’s about as charming as road kill. But why stop there? He’s also immature, and he never takes responsibility for anything. I mean, he actually had the opportunity to go back to his home planet and make the lives of his people better and thereby preventing the impending invasion of earth that would no doubt kill hundreds of humans and Daxamites alike, and what does he do? Decides to be selfish and stay on Earth where he continued to be a annoying burden. But even that’s not all. I actually described the things Mon-El has said and done to a few of my friends, and I asked them what they would do if they were in Kara’s shoes. They all unanimously agreed that they would kick his ass to the curb. Kara and Mon-El are not a good couple, at all. Their romance is awkward, cringeworthy, and a little disturbing. A relationship should be built on trust, honesty, mutual respect, and compassion. This relationship has consisted of nothing but lies, arguing, straight up vocal abuse, and more arguing. I still, for the life of me, cannot see why they are a couple. I don’t know about you guys, but if my significant other lied to me about their identity since the moment I met them, it would take more than one musical episode later for me to forgive them. And he’s always making up excuses instead of just owning up to his mistakes and actually learning. And btw, using the “he’s not human” excuse is not valid. In case you forgot, Kara and J'onn are aliens too. While yes, they’ve been on earth longer, they stretched his fish out of water storyline way longer than it needed. But for me personally, there is one thing above all that makes his whole characterization one of the most insulting comic to live action adaptations I’ve ever seen. It’s that they took a fun, goodhearted, enjoyable character, and turned him into this unpleasant, unsympathetic, unlikeable asshole. As far as I can tell, him and his comic book counterpart have two things in common, the name and planet of origin. Other than that, they literally have nothing in common. For those who don’t know, Mon-El is not the prince of Daxam in the comics. He’s literally just a regular guy. He’s an explorer from Daxam who crashed on Earth, losing his memories in the process, where he met Young Clark Kent. Given that they shared the same powers (Daxamites have all Kryptonian abilities, not just strength and speed) they figured he must be from Krypton. Hence Mon-El decided to give himself that name (his real name is Lar Gand). But when exposed to lead, he obtained lead poisoning, gaining his memory back in the process, and Clark put him in the Phantom Zone to save him. He was then released by the Legion of Superheroes in the thirty first century, they cured him of his lead poisoning, and he joined them. Now tell me, does that backstory sound even remotely close to the one in Supergirl? No, not even close. I mean, I don’t know about you guys, but I would’ve much rather had the comic book version of Mon-El than whatever Supergirl did. And to top it all off, we see the biggest part of this seasons recurring theme, it was just wasted potential. Honest to God, I mean this when I say, Chris Wood would’ve made a good Mon-El had they stuck to the proper storyline. And bless his heart, it’s clear Chris is trying his best, but it’s still just not working. We could’ve had a fun storyline. I mean Supergirl acting as a mentor figure to a young superhero, a superhero who has never been in live action form that has all of Superman’s powers. It had serious potential, it really did. But instead it was wasted and botched up in place for a stupid romance that should’ve never even been an idea in the first place. All of this is why Mon-El is easily the worst thing about season two.

First time drawing Discord in a long time! I loved how they both came out in this. ✨

And this episode could be yet another that’s seriously getting me interested in the Fluttercord ship, good LORD are they cute!!

💫 SYNOPSIS 💫

After spending a peaceful afternoon having tea at Fluttershy’s cottage, Discord realizes that he’s never had his best friend over in his dimension. He invites her over, and she excitedly accepts. But as he prepares to host for the first time, he realizes that Fluttershy might not be used to – or worse, dislike – how chaotic and wacky his home is. Determined to help her feel comfortable, Discord goes out of his way to make everything as normal as possible. But normal doesn’t exactly sit well with the spirit of chaos…

Dear YOI fandom,

I love you so much and I know that some of you are still fairly new to the figure skating world. So let me clarify some facts, especially for who want to write fanfiction about it.

The Grand Prix Final is NOT the end of the competitive season, hardly so! The season usually goes something like this:

  • October to November: the Grand Prix series (Skate America, Skate Canada, Rostelecom Cup, Trophée de France, Cup of China, NHK Trophy);
  • Early December: the Grand Prix Final in which compete the best 6 skaters of every discipline (Men, Ladies, Pairs and Ice Dance).
  • Late December/Early January: the various national championships (Russia, U.S, Canada, Japan, etc) –> the placement of the skaters will decide who is going to represent their country in the following competitions.
  • Late January: the European Championship –> ONLY european skaters can take part in this competition (it includes the russian skaters).
  • February: the Four Continents Championships (4CC) –> it’s the answer to the European Championship, involving the skaters from the others continents (such as americans, canadians, the chinese, the japanese, etc).
  • Late March/Early April: the World Championship –> the MOST important event of the season, expect the Olympics. This is the competition a skater really really want to win or at least medal at it.

After the Worlds, the season has officially ended!

From spring to summer the skaters are going to rest, revaluate, take part in ice shows around the world (this is when they actually earn some money, you go bb) and then prepare the new programmes for the next season.

One last thing: every 4 years are held the Winter Olympics Games, the MOST important competition in a skater’s career. If you win this, be sure that you will be remembered as one of the best ever.

Salt Lake 2002 –> Torino 2006 –> Vancouver 2010 –> Sochi 2014 –> Pyeongchang 2018.

I hope I have been helpful, take care my lovelies!

G1 Transformers Episode 1 Season 1: More than meets the Eye, Part 1

Two days ago, this blog reached 3000 amazing followers , which is more than I could’ve ever hoped for. There is no way I could thank all of you for your support and kind words, but I’ll try to anyway.

As a thank you, I will go through with a project I’ve been meaning to do for some time now, and I will recap every single G1 episode.

Not every episode is easy to make fun of, not every episode is pure gold like “A Decepticon Raider in King Arthur’s Court” or “Carnage in C-minor”, but every episode is magical in its own way, and even the genuinely good ones have a whole bunch of nonsense and silly lines in them. This is both a thank you to all of you, as well as an expression for my appreciation and love for this cartoon.

Season 1 is relatively tame and I will try my best to make the recaps of those episodes somewhat enjoyable, because Season 1 is actually not bad and things only really took a turn for the fantastical nonsense in Season 2 and onwards. I hope you’ll enjoy these comics, and I will still make short G1 comics like I’ve done so far.

This is for those who have seen the cartoon and aren’t sure if this show really exists (spoiler: it does) and for those who haven’t seen it and just want to have a very short version of it. I will leave out things on purpose so you can still watch the show and experience a whole bunch of strange dialogues and horrible evil plans that go nowhere without having everything spoiled here.

Thank you guys so much for these past 10 months, they’ve been amazing for me and I hope you’ll stay for some more!

(btw I apologize for all errors etc, I’ve been making this for 8 hours straight and I’m a bit exhausted now)

how to convince someone rhink is real

Here’s the funny thing about that.

It probably isn’t.

At least not in the way we tend to envision it. The torrid fanfics and headcanons and rhinky fanart are all well and good, but most of us know, deep down, that it’s unlikely that RandL are actually sleeping together. Or even that they’ve admitted to being in love with each other. We entertain the fantasy of rhink because it satisfies an ache placed there by the actual, real love that we do see on screen.

Because they do love each other.

Yes, Virginia, rhink is real.

You want to convince someone it’s real? Show them GMM. It’s sprinkled everywhere. You can point them to some rhinky episodes (just from season 11 you could show them the “Kissing Thru Hands Experiment”, “Shock Collar Theatre”, “Which Lipstick Lasts Longest”“Swapping Bodies w/ a Mannequin”“Foot Personality Test”“Ultimate Sports Bra Test”, and “Which Jeans Give You The Best Butt”, to name a few), but the best stuff is in the subtle things. The looks, the touches, the gentleness in the way they care for each other.

But rhink is broader than whether they’re screwing in the sleeping loft when no one’s looking. Friendship isn’t inferior to romance and sexuality, so when we struggle to envision RandL being able to contain their love in friendship, we cheapen the word itself. (I’m as guilty of this as anyone! I wrote a whole patch of dialogue in one of my fics completely contradicting this point. :p)

Yes, they love each other in a way few people ever have an opportunity to experience in their lifetime, and this is even with the assumption that their relationship never has and never will move into sexual territory. Maybe it has, maybe it will — who knows. We can speculate or fantasize all we want and it’s all in good fun. But at the end of the day, it’s none of our damn business.

So there you have a long answer you didn’t ask for, dear anon. :) Bottom line: rhink is as real as you want it to be, as long as you’re willing to define your term appropriately. There’s the fantasy rhink, and there’s the real rhink. Both are epic. Both are as they should be. May we all continue to enjoy them for what they are!

Top 5 free characters?

Hello! I’m always in the mood to go back to my beautiful swimming sons, so here you have my list!

1. Rin Matsuoka. Ok. My love for Rin is so big that this top 5 should be Rin in all the 5 positions. No one on this show could ever try to compare to him, he’s just in a league of his own. He’s my one and only, among all the anime boys, he’ll forever be my favorite. He’s so painfully human, passionate, broken, hard worker and loving. I don’t even know how to describe him, to me he’s just…perfect.

2. Makoto Tachibana. Makoto is the friend everyone should have in real life. He’s so nice, polite and concerned about his friend’s well-being, while taking absolutely no shit from anyone. He’s sensible, incredibly self-aware and a true hero. There’s something about him that always somehow breaks my heart, but I don’t even know why.

3. Nagisa Hazuki. MY LITTLE SUNSHINE DEMON. He’s strong, fierce and incredibly genuine. He’s not afraid to speak his mind or to show his emotions. We owe him basically anything that happens in Free! and would literally die for any of his friends. He’s a pure bean and I love him so much.

4. Rei Ryugazaki. Oh Rei, selfless and unstoppable Rei. He’s a character that surprised me so much during the course of the two seasons. He put himself on the line and gave his best, taking a leap of faith and filling a very hard place in the team: Rin’s place. Actually, his relationship with Rin is one of my favorite things that ever happened in Free! They could have hated each other, they could have been jealous of each other, but instead they did everything to help the other in their darkest moments, becoming the beautiful and supportive friends that we saw in the OVA. Bless.

5. Ikuya Kirishima. I loved my baby emo and distrustful son since the very first time I saw him. Despite his attitude, he’s a cinnamon roll and I’m SO looking forward to seeing how much he has grown in the movies.

What Do u think About Bamon in general? Platonic or no?

I freakin’ love them. Here’s where you can read some of my thoughts about them (x) (x) (x).

But yeah, I definitely ship romantic Bamon. It wasn’t an instant thing, they grew on me over the course of season 6, but their chemistry is just so incredible and it pulls me in every single time. I haven’t even watched the show since season 6, but the one thing I’ve watched consistently is Bamon scenes. I regularly check the tags and watch their videos on YouTube, because there’s something about them when they’re together…they just come alight. It’s such a different dynamic than any of the other relationships on the show and I see a completely different side to both of them when they’re with each other that I don’t see when they’re with anyone else.

Plus, Bamon has just really made me love Damon’s character again. Way back in the early seasons Damon was one of my favourite characters, but between his constant pining and whining over Katherine and Elena I grew so tired of him. When he’s with Bonnie I see a Damon that I can get on board with. There’s a vulnerability and sincerity in him that Bonnie brings out. She makes him more aware of who he is, the things he’s doing, she makes him question that and makes him want to be a better person. He genuinely cares what she thinks of him and you can see that. He doesn’t want to let her down or disappoint her, but he’s consistently done that to everyone he loves so he pushes her way because she’s just too important and special for him to do that to her out of everyone.

I see that lot of people don’t ship them or agree with them based on the fact that Damon has put Bonnie through a hell of a lot and they think she deserves better. I do understand why, but for me it just adds a new layer to their relationship by creating conflict and issues that they need to overcome.

Here’s the honest truth of the matter: Damon is damaged. He’s so damaged that he doesn’t even seem to realise when he does something messed up, he’s just so used to following the same negative patterns of behaviour and no, it shouldn’t be a woman’s responsibility (or anyone else’s for that matter) to fix him, but it’s kind of inevitable that it has to happen. Damon needs help, he needs someone to be there for him, to remind him when he’s being an ass, to give him direction and guidance and support. What Damon needs is a strong, passionate woman that is mature, emotionally developed and capable of independent thought and that person is Bonnie. We saw what the writers did with D*lena, using Elena as Damon’s humanity and his morality and whether we like it or not, any Damon relationship whether it’s with Elena or Bonnie or Katherine or any other woman, will always have that aspect involved, because Damon needs that. But here’s the important part; with Bonnie it’s different. With Elena, Damon literally projected all of his issues directly onto her and used her as a catalyst for his humanity, but Elena never actually actively did or said anything to help Damon be a better person. Damon just convinced himself that she did because he wanted it to be true. But with Bonnie, she does. Like I said, she tells him when he’s doing something wrong, she’s not afraid to stand up to him, to reject his apology if she knows he’s in the wrong, but at the same time, she accepts that deep down he’s a good person that is trying to be better and she wants to help him do that. But what’s even more interesting is that just seeing Bonnie hurt by his actions is enough to make Damon remorseful and want to change. I don’t know if it’s just me, but I’ve never seen Damon react like that with Elena. When he hurts Bonnie it’s like he can’t stand it, it eats him up and it tortures his soul, but with Elena, he actually did things to deliberately hurt her. And I think evidence of this can be seen by the fact that when Elena had no memories in season 6 Damon said he didn’t want her to be happy, he wanted her to be as miserable as him. But what did he say to Bonnie in 8x10? “I hope it’s the happiest life, because you are an amazing woman.” See the difference? Damon is starting to show that he is capable of selfless love with Bonnie, which is something we’ve never really seen from him before.

As for Bonnie, despite the utter crap she’s had to put up with from Damon, he’s good for her too. I think Bonnie is the kind of character that needs a challenge, someone that’s going to keep her on her toes and Damon is that for her. But more than that, he protects her, makes her feel safe and I think that’s important for Bonnie, because she’s constantly put in the path of danger. And like I mentioned in a previous post, Damon is the first person that’s actually consistently put Bonnie first and treated her as an actual person. Bonnie has been constantly overlooked and mistreated across the entirety of the show and I think the biggest thing that I notice is that she’s perceived as a witch and a solution to problems, rather than just Bonnie. And even the people that are supposed to be her best friends never thank her or show their appreciation. In season 6, Damon was the first one that acknowledged everything Bonnie had done for him and everyone else, he actually challenged Elena (because she was making everything about her as always) and said that he wanted to save Bonnie for Bonnie. Damon stopped making everything about Bonnie about Elena or magic or anything else and he made it about Bonnie. That’s so important. When Elena was put into the coma she said to Bonnie to let her make this sacrifice so Bonnie could live and that she wanted to do it after everything Bonnie had done for her. No, Elena had no choice but to sacrifice herself for Bonnie because Kai created the spell and Damon decided he wanted to keep Bonnie alive for Bonnie. Bonnie deserves that so much. She deserves someone that loves her, that puts her first and Damon does.

And putting all of the deep stuff aside, Bonnie and Damon just have such an amazing dynamic. They have fun, they tease each other and naturally bounce off one another. I mean, they spent three entire months together on The Other Side. That is approximately 2,190 hours they spent in each other’s company, with no one else to talk to but each other. Imagine how much they learned about each other, how well they got to know each other, the comfortableness they built up. Honestly, I don’t know many people that could spend that much time together alone and not develop a significant and intimate bond that becomes something romantic. Generally the thing that makes people fall in love is getting to know someone on a deeper level. Hearing them speak about their fears, their hopes, their dreams, their past, their likes and dislikes; seeing them in every state of being there is, first thing in the morning, when they’ve just got out the shower, the dark circles under their eyes because they haven’t slept for days because they’re nervous about something, when they’re tears streaming down their face and snot running down their nose, when they’re laughing hysterically and accidentally snort, when they’re singing along to a song and don’t know anybody’s listening. You get the idea. All of these things are what Bonnie and Damon saw when they were together for those three months. Having that kind of closeness, getting to know someone that deeply, seeing every side of them that there is…it nearly always leads to one or both of those people falling in love with each other.

And that’s what I love about Bonnie and Damon. There’s so much development and depth there, yet at the same time such a lightheartedness. They have the domesticated, adorkable best friend side of their relationship, where they sit around doing crossword puzzles, making pancakes, Damon teases Bonnie about Mrs Cuddles, Bonnie teases Damon about his collection of 90s music. But they also have the angsty, complex, intricately messed up side of their relationship where they argue, challenge each other, hurt each other and even hate each other. When those two elements come together it creates such a beautiful and interesting dynamic. There’s just so much potential there with them, so much that could be done, so many intriguing aspects to their relationship, the possibilities and just endless and I think that’s what’s so exciting about Bamon.

Hey Jen, you trully are a rare gem for any fandom worthy to have you! Beyond happy you're part of the Olicity fandom! Only one thing I would like you to address, esp given your knowledge of TV and how the business works. So, what is your view on ratings for Arrow Season 5? The decline in ratings goes ofc accross shows and channels as a general trend nowadays. But specifically how do you feel about Arrow ratings this year? TY!

What a sweet thing to say. I am but one among many, but you are so incredibly kind. Thank you. Hope you don’t mind that I’m publishing this ask because I always like ratings questions. I think they are fun. Yes. I am weird. I don’t know if it’s knowledge. It’s more a weird obsession combined with some (hopefully) educated guesses. (Some of this will be a repeat for those who’ve read my thoughts on ratings before).

Stumbled on this article today. Vulture always takes a look at returning/aging dramas and writes an article on rating trends every year. It’s a good read. The take away is it’s been a rough year for everyone. Most returning/aging dramas saw a significant drop in their live ratings. This was The CW:

31% drop is… well… ouch.

I agree with Vulture. I don’t know a network executive that would be happy with any of these drops because they like money. Loss of revenue is not good. Networks ain’t never gonna be a fan of that. A live ratings decrease = a loss of ad based revenue.

But am I worried about Arrow? NOPE. The single most important question any fan of a television show that airs on The CW should ask is…

How in sweet holy heaven does The CW make money?

Stiles/Peter

Nonnie! This headcanon/not!fic got long! I guess Peter was feeling inspired? Hope you enjoy!

Peter has never been a fan of camping or spending time in the outdoors unless said outdoors included a pool and a colorful cocktail in his hand. The fact that he has committed to spending months in the fucking rainforest is starting to make him question his sanity. In addition, the presence of seventeen strangers not to mention the dozen crew members is already proving to be more annoying than expected. It’s all Talia’s fault, of course. She was on the third season of this stupid program, and she made it to the top five. The family had been watching the current season during Thanksgiving, and Peter had been commenting on the stupidity of the players when she’d dared to throw down the gauntlet. “As if you could ever do any better, Peter” were the nine little words that led to him conducting a producer he met during Talia’s stint on the show and acquiring a place of his own for the newest season.

What do you think of Firefox/Mixen? I personally think steel and vixen was very rushed and kinda out of nowhere. Mick and Amaya had a relationship building between them for the entire season. That's just what I think.

Do I love it? It’s in my top 5 for Mick and my favorite ship for Amaya. I’d love to see it actually happen on the show, especially if slow burn development as opposed to whatever Nate/Amaya was.

(It felt like the first couple of episodes the writers were pairing Amaya up with everyone to see who fans liked her with best.)

That said, I think there’s several factors why the show went with Nate/Amaya and seemed to drop Amaya/Mick after a few episodes.

First Issue: Extension of the Season. LoT got an additional 4 episodes after season 2 had already started. I honestly went “oh no, that’s going to screw things up” when I saw the news. When you have a show as plot driven as LoT was in season 2, suddenly adding significant length to the show requires serious rewriting. I feel a lot of ideas for the season got cut as they reworked the season.

One of those ideas was probably a love triangle between Nate, Amaya, and Mick. Looking at the mid season break sizzle reel and episode previews I had the impression Mick was going to fall in love with Amaya and then get his heart broken when he finds out Amaya is in a sexual relationship with Nate. I thought it was going to be one of those elements that would complicate Mick’s decision to hand the spear over to Len (and the Legion).

(And honestly that dynamic of Nate being the boy next door/sexual interest to Mick’s bad boy/romantic interest would have been a love triangle I would have been ok with. Like LTs are so overused anymore but I would have enjoyed the dynamic of that one if done right.)

Second Issue: Nate’s underwhelming reception. As @coldtomyflash has pointed out. It’s pretty obvious PR thought Nate was going to be a big hit with fans instead of us going “oh look, Ray 2.0”. So I think the writers chose to cut back on Mick/Amaya to try to promote Nate through Amaya.

Third Issue: I don’t have any evidence of this but I suspect there is tension between Dominic Purcell and the creative/directive/productive people in charge of the show. Dominic Purcell has said he found the initial description of Mick Rory when he picked up the role to be silly (memory is fuzzy but I think it was “like a raging inferno trapped behind a door- which I thought was ridiculous”) and he’s admitted he’s found a lot of his lines to be dumb so he’s done his own take on the character. Actors aren’t really supposed to have that much autonomy with their characters and Dominic doing so might have grated. That could be why Mick Roy’s role was significantly reduced even though him and Sara seemed to be the two major leads of the season in articles before it aired. (As well as why Mick seems to have gotten dumber between seasons, to be frequently seen eating/drinking, and generally mistreated by the rest of the team. Aside from the ableism that seems to exist on TV in general).

Now as to how Nate/Amaya was portrayed on the show: it was so bland. Not good, not bad, but very cliche. Seriously the ship shakes they bump into each other and make bedroom eyes at one another? They have sex after cuddling for warmth naked? I wouldn’t call their relationship fake but it was very contrived. Also, Nate seems to have this magical ability to make everything bland and boring. Which is sad because as @crimsondomingo pointed out recently, Nate had the potential to be interesting and yet isn’t.

Season 19 Renewal

As Season 18 went on, and I kept getting disappointed, all I could think was, “do the old writers and the cast also think the quality of the show is declining, or do they think everything is fine?”

Guess we have our answer.

The fact Rick Eid is leaving after just one season tells me that we were right all along. He was a bad fit for this show. Forget the scheduling mess, partly caused by the inability to produce episodes on time. He tried to turn SVU into a generic cop show, which is actually why I think he might be a good fit for Chicago PD. SVU was never generic. It’s an institution, and it was always about the characters, as much as it was about the cases,  as well as teaching the audience some sorely needed lessons.

Season 18 and its Struggles

In Season 18, the show lost track of that message. It’s not enough for Liv to sprout platitudes and give us Hallmark moments every week. A certain sensitivity and nuance is required, if you want to tackle SVU cases. Rick Eid lacked that sensitivity (if some episodes displayed it, it was because of the old SVU writers, in my opinion), and he couldn’t find that nuance. That’s why he effectively rewrote the same episode so many times. Rich white powerful man assaults rich white pretty lady. She is unreliable (or a liar, or a criminal, or it’s somehow her fault), and he is troubled. That’s it. We watched a variation of that, literally 13 times this season (I counted).

The T*rump episode alone perfectly demonstrates why Eid was a bad choice for SVU. The casual way in which Ice-T said it wasn’t one of their best, even though the (then) current showrunner had written it, that said it all. Showing women as liars is not what SVU is about, for me. Nor is it about showing rapists as sympathetic, or troubled figures, or innocent. Both can (and should) be done in moderation, in an individual episode or two, for the sake of a twist (or even realism, sometimes), but not all the time.

Problem is, Rick Eid clearly didn’t know what else to do. What else to write. He didn’t know how to expand into non-rape cases, he didn’t know how to send the right message (and sometimes he’d even send the wrong message entirely), and (most curious of all) he didn’t know how to properly work the courtroom angle, despite the fact he’s apparently a lawyer, and the trial scenes increased tremendously in screentime. This season, despite its faults, could have given us a strong, take-charge Barba. If nothing else. Instead, he turned Barba into an afterthought who wouldn’t prosecute a single perp unless Liv told him to.

Season 18 and the Characters

This entire season, it felt like neither Rick Eid nor the other new writers ever watched the previous seasons. They totally misused Carisi, Rollins and Barba. They altered long-established portrayals. They changed these characters into generic cardboard cutouts, eliminating everything that made them unique (yet again, that’s another sight Eid might have better luck with Chicago PD). I won’t bore you with the details, but I’ve written about this many times, most recently (and extensively) here.

I mean, I remain baffled by that one interview, when Eid kept saying “the Carisi character” and “the Barba character,” like he had never watched his own show and he had zero emotional connection to his “own” characters. Which was obviously true, as it turns out. He never connected to any of them, except maybe Liv.

Season 18 and Liv

Which brings me to this. To me, it’s clear that another showrunner change would have to be okayed by Mariska (if not demanded by her). This season had some very strong Olivia moments, but overall it was not the best for her, in my view. The focus was on Liv, but what she was actually doing, it wasn’t always something I could root for. I didn’t like that feeling.

It’s one thing if she does something that’s supposed to be questionable (like Season 17’s Black Lives Matter episode, and the way she instinctively wanted to stand by her fellow cops at first) or “flawed,” but it’s another thing to have her badgering witnesses and victims alike into testifying, for an entire season. Or telling Barba how to prosecute his own cases. Or thinking she can’t have a personal life and a child at the same time.

That’s not who Liv is, to me. I hope we can find that Liv again. And I’d like to think Mariska agrees. The fact she wanted (or at least she agreed to) a new showrunner despite the fact this season was “all about her” is a good sign. She’s the star, and she’s the reason most people watch, but she is also self-aware, and she must have known how Liv was coming off, at times. She must still want the best for Liv, like we all do, and I’m happy to know that.

Season 18 and Sonny

Lastly, when it comes to Sonny, I just hope we can find the old Sonny too. The one with the personality, and the whole bunch of sisters, and the niece who drools on him. The Sonny who is fantastic undercover, and has great instincts, and uses his affability to nail perps during interrogations, and thinks outside the box to solve a case (actually that last part is still there, even in S18, thank God). The Sonny who is empathetic and hilarious and quirky and interested in medicine and photography and Möbius strips. The Sonny who came into his own, and turned into a confident and experienced and badass detective. The Sonny who has some darkness inside him, but doesn’t let it turn him into yet another violent cop. The Sonny who is real, and has real relationships with his friends and colleagues, and isn’t just “Cop Number 1”, only there to deliver exposition.

Peter deserves better, much like all the actors. It’s a shame to have this great cast, and this rich history, and fail to utilize either of them properly.

In Conclusion

I’ve said it many times. SVU has had terrible seasons before, but it has always bounced back. So I hope we can all just all pretend Season 18 never happened, even though that may not be eas…

Wait, that’s very easy, actually, because literally not a single thing happened in season 18. All the characters are pretty much where they were at the end of S17, except Fin, who is an almost-Sergeant, and has an offscreen twitter-grandchild.

So let’s just start over, huh?

Petition to Give Star a Fanon Surname

Not gonna lie, since I started rewatching this show, Star has quickly become one of my favorite background characters. There are a lot of others that I like as well, but there’s something about Star that makes her feel really real to me, like she really does have her own life outside of the main characters. Since Lucky in Love is the one episode where she gets any kind of focus, I figured this was as good a time as any to talk about her.

I think you're in the group "bellarke is happening this season". Can you tell me your thoughts/theories? Given their feelings and the plots of the season how and when do you think that we're getting a kiss/confession ? I know it's just speculation but I'm curious about your opinion

I AM I AM

Look anon I’m a writer and there is very clearly an increased level of intimacy this season in comparison to previous seasons and that’s just how close Bellamy and Clarke are standing. When we add the fact that two episodes they’ve been apart Clarke has been shown to make really poor decisions and Jaha, a man who has only seen Bellarke interact two times throughout the entire show, 1x08 and 4x01, said that Bellamy centers Clarke after observing her decisions in 4x02 and then last episode we had her revert to be an autocratic leader furthering driving in home Jaha’s point. We have them standing so close to each other that the camera always show one of them in the shot even if it’s a real close up of the other.

WE HAVE THEM CANONICALLY AFFIRMING THAT THEY CAN’T LIVE WITHOUT EACH OTHER. That’s so important you guys and that scene gave us Clarke wanting to increase the intimacy level even more and Bellamy stepping back

As a result of this now canon dynamic and one that I’ve always suspected, Bellamy refuses to push Clarke and content to silently love and support her, Clarke will be the one to initiate the kiss or confession.

I honestly think the list scene counts as a confession of love but the show could give me something like Bellamy overhearing her talk to someone expect for the fact that the people Clarke would confine in are at Becca’s lab. I suspect they will reiterate their need for each other in 4x05 because trust me there will be parallels to 3x02 in the next episode. We have it basically confirmed that Niylarke sex happens in 4x06 and several people have said that it is good for Bellarke fans - possibly a way to drive home to Clarke that Bellamy is what she wants and it’s not remotely a rebound.

Based on this information I expect one of two things to happen in 4x07 or 4x08 (I’m pretty sure episode 8 is written by Aaron Ginsburg aka the guy who has written some of the best Bellarke scenes in show)

1. We get an almost kiss

ala this and I’m not kidding when I say that is my preferred option because look how pretty that is!!!! and we get to have them deal with FEELINGS for the rest of the season which would be amazing

2. We get an actual kiss, this would probably be in the heat of the moment and Clarke wouldn’t be able to hold back

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DQeWaVGURz8 watch this starting at 1.58 because this is how I imagine a first kiss if we actually get a first kiss before the end of the season

Now if either of these actually happens, I’ll die but especially if option one happens because then we wouldn’t actually see them kiss until the finale

A first kiss in the finale would be one of euphoria and jubilation and they wouldn’t be able to stop touching

this is one possibly and let me tell you if they give us something this, them not be able to stop smiling as they are wrapped up in each other’s arms I DIE ABSOLUTELY

another possibly is one where they just decide that that they’ve had enough of hiding their feelings for each other and both of them just slam into each other and kiss.

or something like this - they finally get a quiet moment and Bellamy finally asks Clarke why she did something earlier in the episode and then this:

Either way the kiss in the finale is going to be incredibly passionate and beautiful and a full on make out session

so yeah that’s my Bellarke kiss speculation

have you seen american horror story? If you havent i think you should really take a look at the first season because one of the episodes is based on columbine and i want to know your thoughts on it :)

I’m actually a huge fan of the show and I’ve watched every season so far!

The first season is defiantly the best in my opinion. Tate Langdon is such an interesting character, I think the writers did a really good job at orchestrating him. His traits are almost a perfect balance between Eric and Dylan.

Tate relates to Eric because they are both emotionally manipulative, do things compulsively, and are pathological liars. Tate is especially manipulative to Violet, this is seen when he tries convince her to skip school all the time just so he could be with her, causing her to get in trouble. He acts out without really thinking, (like almost everyone he has murdered on show, he only murdered because they were in his way) he does things on the spot without thinking like what Eric use to do. For instance, when Eric smashed Brooks’ windshield not caring about the consequences afterwards. But then he lies straight to Brooks’ mom’s face as he’s apologizing, then he gets stunned when Brooks’ mom calls him for being a liar. Similar to when Tate is trying to apologize to Violet’s dad for the harm he’s done to his family towards the end of the season, in which Violet’s dad applauds him and calls him out for great acting/lying.

How he relates to Dylan is (the quite obvious one) that their both hopeless romantics. That’s why Tate is so obsessed with Violet. The only thing that matters to him, was her. But to Dylan his standards were “My happiness. Her happiness. NOTHING else matters.” It seemed like Dylan wanted to die with his soulmate, just like when Tate tried to convince Violet to commit suicide with him. Dylan was also in this psychological battle within himself. Being a good person, but his desires wanted him to be bad. While Tate’s was the opposite. He was a bad person but his desires wanted to be good (for Violet). Dylan mentions in his journal, “…I’ll finally not be at war with myself, the world, the universe — my mind, body, everywhere, everything at PEACE in me — my soul (existence)”

Tate Langdon defiantly stands out because he’s the kind of character everyone wants to hate yet love. It’s weird to see the similarities that Tate has with both Eric and Dylan. I know this is probably a longer answer than you expected but I thought doing an character psychoanalysis would be interesting. (:

Agent carter was not garbage, it was the best show marvel had and peggy was the most three dimensional female character on the mcu and tv in general, peggy if she wasnt already had the potential to be the most important mcu character, without her marvel lost its soul, the show had amazing representation, it deserved more seasons and for peggy to return to the movies and get an actual arc on her own, but sure shit on it, thw marvel fandom is so transparent

every word of this is wrong, not a single word is right
