Headcanon: Harry takes Draco to see fireworks, and Draco cannot get over the fact that they happen without magic
Harry 100% would’ve kissed Draco romantically under the man’s first firework show of his life…but said man was way too busy gawking and speaking about the impossibilities of fireworks without magic way too fast for Harry to even get a word in.
“How?! HOW! How does that even wor- Bloody hell! Look at that one Harry! Look, Look! It was huge! Bigger than the other ones! And- BLOO- How is it more than one colour?!”
“It should be impossible! How does it change colour in the sky?! We can barely learn those spells until our 5th year how does-”
“HARRY IT’S A HEART! Harry look! Look it’s in the shape of a heart! How-”
His words were immediately muffled when lips pressed against his, silencing anymore that he could say about the fireworks. Harry molded his lips against the others, practically coaxing him to kiss back and only once Draco did, did he pull away with amusement in his voice.
“You know, on a date the highlight is supposed to be the other person.”
Draco stared at him before flushing slightly, whacking his arm. “Shut up. I’ve never seen these before,” he said, and on cue, another firework boomed behind them.
Harry laughed, leaning in for another kiss. “I know, I know. I just really wanted to kiss you,” he hummed against his lips.
Returning the kiss briefly, Draco immediately ripped his lips away to shriek. “’HARRY LOOK IT’S THE FINALE!”
10 Reasons to watch Dirk Gently’s Holistic Detective Agency
1) It features an amazing collection of female characters, who pass the Bechtel test while actively supporting and encouraging each
There’s Bart, who manages to be the most terrifying
badass to ever grace the screen while still somehow retaining her child-like
wonder and innocence.
There’s Farah, who isn’t afraid to step up and fight for the
people she loves, all while battling acute anxiety and the biggest inferiority
complex I have ever seen.
And then there’s Amanda, who is utterly fearless despite a
near crippling disease that restricts both her freedom and her independence.
2. None of the above women are ever sexualized/objectified. At no point
are they raped. At no point does anyone threaten them with rape. Even when they
are placed in scenarios where we would expect rape, the threat never arises. In
a world where sexual violence against women is commonplace and used extensively in media, this
is both refreshing and strangely uplifting.
3. The male characters are almost completely useless and yet
There’s Dirk, who reluctantly allows the universe to chart
his course, this despite the obvious trauma of his childhood and his unbearable
There’s Todd, who so thoroughly hates himself he can barely
stand to let another call him a friend.
And then there’s Ken, who overcomes overwhelming terror to find his place in the universe.
4. Two of the six main characters are characters of colour.
And not only are they well-written, they are also central to the plot.
5. All of the bad guys are idiots. Literally. This isn’t a
show where the above heroes need to outwit impossibly smart supervillains. It’s
a show where the bad guys have no clue what’s going on and can’t even begin to
figure out how they got themselves into this situation. This both simplifies
the narrative and provides tons of comedic relief.
6. Pacing. Plot. Continuity.
If you’re looking for a show that holds together start to
finish, where every little nuanced scene connects to the bigger picture, then
this is the show for you. Try watching it through a second time. It’s seamless.
7. Time Travel.
I just love time travel, okay. Especially when it’s done
8. It’s weirdly hilarious. I love a show that doesn’t take
itself too seriously. I love a show that throws convention and commonality out
the window. I love a show that isn’t afraid to be weird. Especially when
they’re adapting Douglas Adams.
9. It’s filmed in Vancouver! Wondering why there are so many
SPN extras? That would be why. But more importantly, Vancouver is stunning. As
a result, so is the show. BC is the perfect backdrop for the show’s vibrant use
of colours. It’s really quite lovely to watch.
10. Finally, there are a plethora of ships.
There’s Dirk/Todd, who are utterly adorable in those moments
when they do connect. Dirk is the loneliest, neediest person on the planet.
Todd is filled with self-loathing. Dirk makes Todd feel worthy of love. Todd
offers Dirk a connection. It’s a match made in some weird vortex of time and
There’s Bart/Ken, who somehow fit together in ways you’d
never anticipate. Bart gives Ken’s life meaning. Ken helps Bart navigate the
world outside of killing. They dig on each other like crazy.
There’s Farah/Amanda, who nicely counterbalance each other.
Let’s face it, Farah’s a mess, but she’s protective as fuck and Amanda, who
actually has her head together, often needs protecting. These two complement
each other like crazy.
And then there’s Amanda/Rowdy 3 (yes there are 4 of them), who seem so well matched you’d think they were one soul inside 5 bodies. Plus, these boys would protect her with their lives and yet never once seem to see her as a sexual object.
Don’t like any of the above? How about Amanda/Dirk? Or Todd/Farah?
Or Dirk/Farah? Or Dirk/Todd/Farah? Honestly, it’s an open universe, with so much potential and so
many possibilities. Heck, I’m even shipping Rapunzel/Shark-Kitten.
But see, you don’t need ten reasons to watch it. You just
need one. Dirk Gently’s Holistic Detective Agency is a ton of fun, and it’s
available on Netflix. There is literally nothing standing in your way.
Did I die because I wanted to? I don’t know why I died…I don’t even know how I died. I don’t like being a ghost. I don’t want to be a ghost. I didn’t become one because I wanted too. Ghost’s can have their feelings hurt, okay? You bastard.
White feminism is extremely pervasive in film culture. There is definitely a domination by men who are everywhere, who are loudest, and whose voices are most easily accepted and praised. But then you get the reaction of white feminism, which is to counter the one thing that oppresses them: men. However, we live in an age where an ignorance of intersectionality is nearly impossible, especially if you’re on social media. You can’t live in a segregated fantasy of MEN VS WOMEN. This does not deter white feminist film critics from speaking over women of colour (or other marginalized women, by class, disability, sexuality, etc); they simply speak over other marginalized women with empty statements. A suggestion that they spoke to their friends of colour for approval on certain topics, or posts which are littered with “I know this is so much worse for other women,” or empty privilege checks. It’s all empty: solidarity is a shallow way of showing you’re accountable without doing anything, as it’s little more than going “I know women of colour exist; now on with my opinions,” while checking one’s privilege is just a perceived “free pass,” like “Well, I acknowledged I’m white, so now that that’s out of the way I can keep talking.”
The thing is that of course all women, even white women (or straight women or cis women or ablebodied women or whatever) are marginalized. Our/their voices are not heard. Film culture is a boys’ club. But the struggle seems to be to get the least marginalized into that boys’ club. And when you only hear the voices of white women concerned with being white women, whose attempts at intersectionality are entirely surface performance, you get a reduction of the films that are promoted. Varda and Akerman feel tokenized and reduced. Varda is nothing but Cléo de 5 à 7, Akerman is nothing but Jeanne Dielman. Sometimes Chytilova’s Daisies gets thrown in. But it’s reduced to “films with women directors”: Varda’s documentaries feel like they’ve been made irrelevant, while I have never seen discussions of her essentialist conception of gender. Akerman is reduced to “long takes of domesticity” without engagement with her mental illness, queerness, Jewish identity, her engagement with history broadly and within cinema, her anger and despair. And Daisies is never within the context of communist Czechoslovakia, it’s just a cool film of girls having fun. You lose so much when the only concern is “But GIRLS are on SCREEN doing GIRL things! This is so DIFFERENT from what the FILM BROS like!” which is true, and a distance from ‘film bro’ culture is always necessary. But we get bogged down in the small things. We can accept a couple white girls in the boys’ club when all they do is gently promote simplified versions of female tokens. It is always difficult being a woman. It is easier when you’re a white woman. You don’t need to speak over everyone because you’re marginalized in one way.
Request: “please please please bts reaction for how they might spoil their s/o with gifts? x”
finally passing all your exams he would be so proud of you and would spoil you
with everything that you like. He would get you a giant teddy bear and buy you
lots and lots of roses in your favourite colour to show you how much he loves
you. “The teddy bear is even bigger than me, jin. That’s crazy! Where did you
even find him?” You said while hugging your new big stuffed animal. “Nothing is
impossible for me, when spoiling my baby.”
He’s clearly not a man of much words so he always shows you how much he loves you by
making you little gifts all the time. Last time you two went shopping in Seoul
your eyes were attached to a certain watch that you wanted to have so badly, but
you didn’t want to spend so much money on it, so you forgot about it. Until one
evening, when Yoongi showed up at your place and just casually gifted the watch
to you, as it was nothing big. “You didn’t have to buy me the watch, it was so
expensive.” “Don’t worry about it, nothing is to expensive for my girl.”
really a thing for fashion and he loved it when you dressed up nicely for
special events so every time you two went out for dinner or special occasions,
he would go shopping with you before and buy you nice dresses and shoes. “You
really don’t have to buy me those, they are quite expensive after all.” “But I
want to spoil my little baby girl, don’t you dare reject my gift.” He would say
to you playfully. And when you just hang out at one another’s place he would
buy for the both of you matching hoodies to chill in. Totally all in for
would love to spoil you so much. When he was pretty busy with work for a while,
he would try to spend all of his free time with you afterwards. Booking a
flight and exploring the world with you would be his special treat for you.
“Was is this?” You asked. “Just open it up” He replied, already smiling from
ear to ear. “No you did not!” Your mouth stood wide open as you saw two plane
tickets inside the envelope. “Just a little surprise for my lovely
be so into spoiling you and would always buy you flowers without any reasons.
One day you came home and couldn’t believe what you saw. The whole floor was
covered with red roses and a little note from your boyfriend. “Happy
anniversary, princess. I love you.” He was away on tour with his band so he
couldn’t be with you on this day but that wouldn’t stop him from spoiling you.
you up at 8pm, just wear something nice. I Love you” Jungkook texted you. A
little smiley escaped you, giggling at his text all by yourself like an idiot.
At night he picked you up and waited in front of your door with a big flower bouquet
in his hands. He would be all dressed up – wearing a white shirt with black
pants and would go to your favourite restaurant with you to celebrate your
anniversary. At the restaurant he would be so nervous, curious about your
reaction when he’ll be giving you his present for this special event – a pretty
bracelet with your initials on in and the date you two started dating.
would love buying you local sweets and souvenirs
when he was somewhere abroad. He recalled that you loved Swiss chocolate and as
he was in switch just now with his band he decided to buy some and gift them to
you when he finally would see you again. “Look, I’ve got you something in Swiss as I
know you love their chocolate so much.” You looked surprised at the amount that
he did bring with him – like probably his half suitcase would be filled with
just gifts for you. “You didn’t have to buy me that much Tae!” “I didn’t know
what’s your favourite flavour so I just bought all they’ve got there.”
Pisceans can try on new personalities like they try on shoes, and with those unusual feet hardly any shoes, from heels to flats or docs seem to fit properly, like all these personalities she tries to be, none of them cloak her soul with the colours. Nothing ever seems to fit those shades she knows ripple inside, those pastels that haven’t been invented yet. From room to room she moves, shifting face and shape, slippery with sea salt infused in her skin, impossible to catch or define, lost and wandering, the facets of a thousand personalities. It feels so foreign being trapped in a body, when she can feel wings fluttering behind her shoulder blades, and scales shimmer under her thighs. Like a mirror carved in heaven, reflecting people as angels she is the stain glass window that forever changes colour and tone, paint streaked over her spirit, impossible to conceive without a kaleidoscope. She knows her true self resides at home The home in the sky, made of clouds and liquid love. But for now the show must go on. Who do I dress as today. Nobody knows.
Summary: It’s Phil’s 30th birthday, and instead of waking up to his celebratory pancakes, he finds Dan missing and instructions for what seems to be a scavenger hunt. What will be his surprise when he gets to the end?

Summary: It’s late on a Saturday night and rather than relaxing with a bottle of wine and anime like we want to be doing, I’m sitting in from of my iMac in my room on skype with Phil, who is sequestered away in the office, working on our book on a shared google doc.“So I definitely think we should have a PINOF page. We can talk about how it’s our origin and kind of our legacy and everything and—oh hang on.” I disappear from the shot of the webcam and rummage through my bottom desk drawer. Finally, I lean back up into view and proudly hold up a wrinkled sheet of paper.Phil leans closer to his webcam. “What’s that?”I press the paper closer to the webcam to give Phil a better view. “It’s the list of questions we wrote for the original PINOF.”
Yeah so I’m doing like a million and one things today and didn’t need one more, but I absolutely could not resist the @percyjacksonweek2k17 prompt for today and anyway I wrote half of it in the middle of the night when I couldn’t sleep last night. This is my offering for day 1 of @percyjacksonweek2k17, for the prompt ‘blue’. Enjoy!
Sally smelt Gabe before he shuffled in, that overpowering sour stench of body odour, like a week’s worth of unwashed laundry, which always preceded his entrance into any room.
My husband, she reminded herself wearily. But she’d made her choice consciously, knowing before she sealed the deal what she was in for. To the uninformed onlooker, she might seem like a silly, duped victim, lured into nuptial drudgery, but her marriage to Gabe Ugliano was actually a premeditated decision.
It was probably best to keep going forward. Time to see how far the rabbit hole really goes. You continued to the brown door of the school, trying not to get too imaginative about the dismembered toys scattered around the playground. The smiling jungle animals painted on the wall looked distinctly more menacing up close too. The door had a brass level handle, flecks of rust showing with age, and as your hand closed around it you realised it was warm. You had no idea why the door handle would be warm to touch, but opened it anyway.
