It’s a really good show to watch if you want to learn about the use of color and shapes in storytelling, as well as exaggerated perspective, use of negative space, timing, and narrative arcs. I recommend it to all comic artists, storyboarders, illustrators, cinematographers, writers… heck, ANYONE. GET HYPE.

Dear Evan Hansen is an amazing musical. The characters, the plot, the songs, the meaning; I cried a lot haha. It’s so moving and relatable, especially to those who feel like they just don’t fit in. So to anyone who feels alone or is having a tough time I urge you to watch and/or listen to this. I swear you won’t regret it. Just a heads up though, what I drew doesn’t reflect what happens in the show per se. I was just inspired by an animatic of one of the songs because it’s awesome and you should totally check that out too (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tiNe0L6kyto)

Underrated Anime

Here are some titles that I feel deserve more love than they get!

From the New World - This anime was a masterpiece. Paced and well-planned, the show entangles you without you knowing until its too late. I highly recommend it for anyone who wants to sink their teeth into a psychological fantasy that leave you with a strange mix of innocence and uneasiness.

Princess Jellyfish - A love story between a confident and fashionable crossdresser and an awkward, introverted girl. This is golden!

Welcome to the NKH! - Just the right amount of humor and psychological torment to keep every viewer enthralled. Is it a conspiracy?

Monster - What happens when a promising young doctor saves the life of a boy who was fated to die? A gripping thriller of justice and revenge!

Bokurano - A group of kids become the chosen pilots of a robot faced with saving the planet, a beyond awesome experience for them!…or so they think. They sign the binding contract and now each one of them must pay the price.

Wolf’s Rain - As legend has it, wolves will open the gate to Paradise in a dying world. This anime is a gripping, heart-wrenching tale of an unlikely pack of wolves searching for promised Paradise. Out of any of the shows on this list, Wolf’s Rain is worth watching. It is a legend it its own right.

Samurai Champloo - THE MUSIC. The music alone should be enough to draw you into this epic tale, but in case you need more persuasion, know that this show revolves around the two most badass fighters in town and their quest to help a girl they are indebted to find the samurai who smells of sunflowers. Ugh its so gooooood.

Mawaru Penguindrum - Weird and comical sum up this anime pretty nicely! It is a fun watch that you will find hard not to binge on once you start. Stay with me people: An alien penguin-hat grants a girl her life back in exchange for her two bothers’ help in acquiring the Penguindrum (whatever that is). I know what you are thinking, but please give it a try! You won’t regret it!

Eden of the East - “This nation faces a great crisis. One among you must save us. I cannot tell you how. I cannot tell you why. Should you fail, you will be eliminated.” 12 people have been chosen to save Japan, each given a phone with 10 billion yen on it and the simple instruction to save Japan–their lives are on the line. Despite this harsh description, the actual show also has an element of humor, so don’t be afraid to jump in! Noblesse Oblige.

Steins;Gate - Many of you have probably heard of this and thought that is was too stuffy or complicated for you, but I’m here to tell you that you will watch this show, make it to episode 22, and then thank me. YOUR WELCOME. Sure, this show takes some getting into, but once you delve deeper into the plot, you will find things falling into place. It has unconventional characters, a really great romance stuck in there, and a pretty refreshing, sciency tone. Enjoy.

Nodame Cantabile - To think that so many people have not seen this gift to humanity sickens me. Nodame is most assuredly the most interesting and unique anime character to walk this little anime earth. There is music! There is romance! There is SO MUCH HUMOR! There are 3 seasons!!! You can’t really pass up this opportunity to watch a legend.

Hunter X Hunter (2011) - This is the only long-running shonen series I will ever watch. This is a series for those of you who like action but not fight scenes that span multiple episodes and like actual character development and good animation consistently throughout the show (I swear its perfect the whole way). Gon wants to be a Hunter just like his father and he meets Killua, the boy-assassin (an resident cinnamon roll), Kurapika, the last of the Kurta clan hell-bent on revenge, and Leorio, a guy who wants to strike it rich. Follow these four on a journey you won’t forget!

Class on BBC America

ok so if youre following me and haven’t watched class already, i wouldn’t blame you if you just looked away from the title lmao, i am quite forceful when it comes to this

ANYWAY, as most of you probably know already, the new series of doctor who premieres on bbc america tonight at 9/8c (if you’re in the small minority who doesn’t just download it illegally when it comes out in the uk), and that’s awesome!! but before you’re tempted to switch off your tv immediately and scream on social media - there is a new show starting straight after, and you should really watch it

class is a spin-off of doctor who set at coal hill school, with a torchwood-like premise in that there is a tear in space and time which attracts a bunch of aliens. the cast is HUGELY diverse - there’s a black girl who is super intelligent and skipped two school years, but is still vulnerable and cares deeply about her family (and calls out another character on his alien racist attitudes); a sikh boy who talks about his religion, and loses a leg in the first episode and has to get used to using a prosthetic, and a gay polish character who deals with homophobia, but that isn’t his entire character. the only two white males are in a gay relationship, and there are two interracial relationships as well.
THERE’S NOT A SINGLE STRAIGHT WHITE MALE IN THE MAIN CAST!!

also it’s not written by moffat if that helps - its written by YA author patrick ness who’s written stuff like a monster calls, more than this, the rest of us just live here, etc.

HOWEVER, at the moment, due to lack of advertising from the bbc, only being shown online and being given a shitty time slot when it actually was shown on bbc one, it is very low on viewing figures, and in danger of not being renewed for a second season. at the moment, the bbc haven’t made a decision, and it entirely depends on how well it does in america - so it’s crucial that you watch it!! even if you don’t want to actually watch the show, at least leave your tv on after dw, to boost the viewing figures. posting about in online, specifically twitter and instagram since those are the only ones the bbc care about, would also help a lot, and signing the petition for season two (that i can’t link right now as im on mobile)

(the characters i didn’t mention are brilliant as well - there’s a girl who seems like a typical hufflepuff at the start but then becomes probably the second most badass character in the show, gay alien prince who’s socially awkward and adorable but also super morally grey and pretty much a slave owner, and although he doesn’t think so he gets called out on it a lot, and an alien freedom-fighter physics teacher who has hilarious lines but also a really complex personality and backstory and gets a shit ton of character development. she’s my fave. i love her a lot.)

tl;dr: class is on bbc america tonight at 10/9c (after dw), its really good, watch it or it won’t get a second season and i’ll cry

Let me explain. No, there is too much. Let me sum up.

Are you watching Wynonna Earp?

Yes?

Good!! Well done. You have excellent taste in television programming.

No?

Let me show you why you should.

Dance Magick

Inspired by The OA.

If you haven’t seen Netflix’s “The OA,” I highly suggest you watch it. Moderate spoilers ahead!

So basically, in The OA, the characters discover several different movements, used to unlock a celestial portal to another world. As I was watching the show, I realized how awesome dance witchcraft is! So I’m making this post.

Dancing to perform a spell is definitely not a new concept. Ancient peoples around the world had/have several dances to so things like bring rain, or a plentiful crop. I don’t want to step into cultural appropriation territory though, so I’m gonna talk about making your own dances!

  1. If you follow any deities, research if any poses or movements are sacred to them.
  2. You may want to incorporate gestures that symbolize animals.
  3. Follow your own intuition. If you think you should place your hands over your neck during the dance, do it! If you believe in chakras/energy points, you could move according to those.

Some poses that represent different meanings include:

  • Raising your hands to the sky to call upon higher powers
  • Sweeping one leg around while standing on the other creates a symbolic barrier
  • Prying your hands/wrists apart as if breaking a rope that was tying them together can represent breaking free of boundaries
  • Crouching and then rising up (simultaneously doing hand movements is optional) can symbolize drawing power into yourself
  • Thrusting your hands away from you can be used to push things away from you or your life

I hope this was helpful! Feel free to reblog and add other movements and their meanings!

Alright people. I’ve been seeing so many posts of “OMG the RTTE animation is so horrible compared to the movies” and “Give us the better animation DreamWorks!” also “The animation is so crappy if they’re going to make a show why not actually make it good” and more and more hate comments about the shows animation.

People. Think about this for just a couple of minutes, and then you’re opinion may change.

So, animators usually have a couple of years to work on a movie, and it took five years to make HTTYD 2. Guys, now compare that to how long RTTE animators have to animate thirteen, 25 minute long episodes. They have only about half a year to do that people! A half a year to animate 325 minutes of 3d animation! Do you really expect the animation to be spot on perfect when they only have that much time to do so much? That’s what the movies are for. If you want a really high definition, lots of detail and all that DreamWorks awesomeness, go watch HTTYD and HTTYD 2. The tv show is awesome as well, and the latest season was terrific. You can tell that the animation and effects have been improved, and even though it’s still not nearly as good as “the movies” that hasa to be expected. The series is terrific given to the amount of time they have, and I think we should be thankful that DreamWorks takes the time and effort to make it for us. So please, stop complaining. If you don’t like the animation, stop watching it and stop complaining. You can complain once, but stop complaining over and over everywhere you go about it. The show isn’t bad, and although it may not be “terrific” like the original movies, the tv show is still good. The storyline and plot is awesome, and the animation is really good, compared to some of the crappy 2d animation we have today. (I have nothing against 2d animation, actually, I like it just as much as 3d, I’m talking about some of the other Nickalodean tv shows) So please, be grateful to the writers and animators for doing such an awesome job on the time they have.

Thank you DreamWorks for Race to the Edge, especially season 4. You made me proud. :D

Reblog if you agree with what I said above.

My Life As A Teenage Robot: My Thoughts and Why This Show Needs A Reboot!

So today is a very special post in my opinion!

Recently, I believe a week ago, I rediscovered one of my favorite shows that I used to watch when I was little!

That show… well you already know because of the title of my post! LOL!

So yeah, I am now part of this fandom!

So I remember so much about this show!!!

I remember XJ9! AKA, Jenny!

I also remember all of the beautiful designs of the whole setting, and of course the weapon designs!

I remember the level of awesomeness and fun that this show has!

This show, in my opinion, is basically a Superman type of story.

A creature that is either from a different world or a creature that is built to defend the human race, is now part of human life, and gets to discover what humans are actually like.

So that is really interesting and it also makes the main lead very relatable and likable.

So before this post, I researched this show again and watched some old episodes. I even watched the video “107 Facts ‘My Life As A Teenage Robot’ That You Should Know About.”

So… what do I think about the show?

Well, it’s really really good!

So what is so good about this show you may ask?

Well, lets list my reasons why!

1. The beautiful 2D hand drawn animation!

2. The character designs are very unique and creative!

3. The characters are funny, likable, and relatable!

4. The action scenes are fun!

5. The settings are unique and creative!

6. And the story about a robot girl who wants to be a regular teenager is very intriguing and interesting!

It’s just really interesting, and Rob Renzetti, the creator of the show, wanted this show to continue!

But unfortunately, that never happened.

Because according to wikipedia and tvtropes, it was cancelled by Nickelodeon due to low ratings from season 2.

Season 2 ended in 2005 and season 3 never aired until 2008!

And the finale of the show didn’t really feel like a finale. It just felt like a random episode that could’ve been put in any other episodes, not the series finale!

I wish it continued!!!

It’s such a very cool concept and it can be rebooted today!

And before I tell you more reasons why, I wanna tell you something about one particular ship that I am loving for this show!

And Jenny is one of my many fictional character crushes!!!

So what is the ship?

Sheldon X Jenny!

So this kid above is Sheldon Oswald Lee.

He is the main supporting character of the series.

He is friends with Jenny and he has a huge crush on her throughout the whole show!

He at times would fall under the geeky kid who stalks the main female character trope.

Well he does that, but only for a few episodes.

Everything other than that, he is a very nice and sweet guy towards Jenny!

He is cute, funny, likable, and just a very fun character!

And the show was short lived and we the fans never saw them being a couple.

Turns out, according to the wikipedia page, the creator himself have stated that if the show lasted longer, the two would’ve been a couple!

THAT IS WHAT I WANT TO SEE IF IT EVER GETS A REBOOT!!!

This reboot can have better animation and there can be new stories!

I would recommend this show being on Disney XD!

With its lineup of great shows like Star vs. The Forces of Evil, Gravity Falls, Wander Over Yonder, and the upcoming DuckTales reboot, this reboot can be added to this channel as one of the great animated shows of the modern era!

That’s my take!

Comment about your thoughts!

anonymous asked:

Hi guys! So I was talking to my younger sister recently, and I was trying to convince her that fanfic is awesome. She'd read anything I link her to, but I don't know what I SHOULD link her to. She's 13, and I'm trying not to traumatize her. I mean, obviously she watches the show so there's a baseline of what she's been exposed to. Idek what genre to start with. I looked through the teen tag, but content varies. Do you have any recs? Thanks!

There are are a lot of fics that we have recommended for those new to fanfic so be sure to check out our New to Fanfiction Guide and New to Destiel Guide. We also created a post listing fics we would suggest to Misha to show that fanfic is not just porn - though we do enjoy our porn!

Below are a few fics pulled from our T and M rated tags that we thought would be great to suggest to your 13 yr old sister (Ratings explained here).  Remember, some of the fics we read are written by people not that much older than your sister! We also added a few darker fics that are M rated and a couple NC17 that we thought were thematically appropriate. Be sure to note the ratings and of course use your discretion! Direct link to T rated fic tag.
All links go to our reviews. Latest additions are marked with asterisk [*].

Canon (SU) and Supernatural AUs

High School AUs (There are a lot more HS fics out there, but we don’t read that many and the most of the ones we have read are M or NC17)

Fluff/Rom Com/Adventure (Note the M rated fics in this group!)

Darker Themes including Suicide, Homophobia and Bullying

NC-17 (limited scenes within a broader narrative)

Oh Screw It - You know she is going to find the really porny stuff eventually, if you are so inclined, start her off with the good stuff: A Distant Mirror!

VILLAINOUS! >:D

I can’t tell you how hyped I am for this show. There hasn’t even been an established pilot episode yet and I’m already in love with the characters/lore. I’m really looking forward to seeing what else Alan Ituriel has in store for the series, and if you haven’t seen any of the shorts yet here’s the Spanish dub (provided with subtitles) of them here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Uo8NwDptljM&t=

I seriously have no idea why Cartoon Network hasn’t released the English dub yet. They should really get on that soon because people are already starting to put up English dubs of the show on YouTube.

I want to take this moment to say that watching Sense8 Season 2 is/was an amazing experience. For those who are involved with the show from the creators, the cast, writers, directors, editing and production… I mean everyone. You should be very proud of yourselves because that was one fucking ride. That was (more than) quality story telling and I for one cannot wait to see what you’ve got in store for Season 3 👏👏👏

Babes in Toyland - Bluebell, Hollywood, 1992

When I came across this video last week, I was thrilled. The quality of the video is awesome for its time period, and Kat puts on one hell of a show. And the best part is that the whole show is taped so if you thought this was great, you should watch the whole thing: here. I will seriously never get enough!

“You can set up your laptop on the kitchen counter or the coffee table,” Lin said, setting your suitcase and violin case next to the couch. “I have a trundle bed in my room you can sleep on too.”

You grunted in response. You set your laptop case on the kitchen counter and joined Lin in the living room, plopping down on the couch, Lin sitting down next to you. You managed to grab all your clothes, your laptop, your violin, and the jar of money under your bed. You had been slowly stealing money from your dad, saving it up for enough money to buy the bus tickets you needed to get to Albany. In the jar were about five hundred dollars and sixty-four cents. But, now that your dad was locked away in custody, you didn’t really need the money. You can just save it for a rainy day.

“How are you feeling, (Y/N)?” Lin asked, laying the back of his hand on your forehead. “Your fever is going down faster than I thought. Good thing, too. It should be gone before next Saturday.”

You felt a warmth fill your chest and your heart started beating quickly in excitement. Next Saturday, you were going to be watching the premiere of Hamilton from the stage wing instead of the audience. Lin couldn’t get you a ticket but he managed to pull a few strings and now, you were going to hang out with the cast and ensemble as you watch the show.

“I’m really excited.” You said, grinning brightly, making Lin chuckle and crack a smile. “I’ve never seen a musical live before. It’s going to be awesome!”

“The cast is really nice too,” Lin commented. “I’m sure they’ll love you.”

“I hope so.” You said, sitting back into the couch cushions. “My social anxiety is going to be the death of me.”

Lin chuckled, patting your head. He sat back to, mimicking you and staring up at the ceiling. “We have a few hours left of daylight. Want to go anywhere?”

Thank you, Doctor Who

Thank you for introducing me to LGBT people when I was ten years old and watched the show for the first time.

Thank you for Captain Jack Harkness, who taught me that gay and straight are not the only sexualities.

Thank you for Vastra and Jenny, for giving me someone to identify with, for showing me that there is nothing wrong with my sexuality.

Thak you for Missy, for Clara, for Alice and May Cassini, Oswin Oswald, Ianto Jones, Toshiko Sato, Sky Silvestry, Canton Everett Delaware III, Charlie and Matteusz, the thin/fat gay married Anglican marines.

Thank you for showing LGBT couples on a TV show that kids watch.

Thank you for telling me that my sexuality isn’t NSFW, isn’t inappropriate for children, isn’t abnormal.

And most importantly, thank you for Bill, an openly gay female main character. For introducing the kids who are watching the show to LGBT characters, possibly for the first time. Thank you for teaching queer kids that their sexuality is normal, and for teaching straight kids that they should accept other people’s sexualities.
