I'm 14 going on 15 and I hate how so many people who take a character that was just my age, and make creepy art and fic about him. I'm about to turn his current age and have been propositioned since I was 11 and was always told that adults who try things like that are perverts. So why is it when a bunch of 20 somethings pushing a teen who is around my age into a sexual relationship with an adult and do explicit crap, it's not perverted and gross? What about the teens who are feeling sexualized?

First off, thanks for writing me and being polite in your message.

The first thing I want to address is this: you should never be made to feel sexualized. Unless it’s with someone you want to be sexual with, like a crush of yours. Even with someone you consider a crush, if you don’t want to feel that way and don’t want to do anything that can be considered sexual (be it even a kiss), you should never feel forced. This is not just now because you’re a teen, this is something that all of us go through and need to keep in mind even in our 20s, 30s and so on.

I’m so sorry that you feel that way in real life because some adults are absolutely disgusting. They are. Adults that prey on children are absolutely disgusting and horrifying and you should call them out, tell your parents or your teachers or the police. I’m not kidding here. I know it’s hard and you might feel like you’re going to be made fun of, or that they won’t believe you, or that they will side with the adult, or that will belittle you and tell you it’s not a big deal. If you tell someone you trust, they won’t do all those things. Go with your guts. Tell, even if someone only threw nasty words at you or catcalled you (and I really hope you never went through anything heavier than that). In those cases there won’t be much that you can do, but telling someone will help.

What I can tell from your message, is that you (subconsciously or not) equate sex with generally being nasty and perverted. This will probably be unnecessary, but I’ll say it anyway: sex is not inherently gross or disgusting or creepy. If you feel that it is, then it means you’re not ready to enter a sexual relationship, and that’s perfectly fine and normal. I won’t tell you that that’s only because of your age, because some people never (or very rarely) show any interest in sex (it’s called asexuality and it falls under the LGBT+ spectrum). Whether you do end up growing to want sex or not doesn’t matter here.

What matters is that now you clearly don’t want to see sex and anything to do with it in your fandom experience and that’s fine. Tumblr offers you ways to make your experience better and show you only the content you want to see. Block any nsfw tag. Don’t follow blogs whose description clearly states that they post nsfw (like mine). Tumblr is a big and scary place if you just take everything it throws at you (be it ship hate, nsfw stuff, etc). The thing with it is that it can’t cater to everyone’s tastes, so you have to be active about blocking the stuff that YOU don’t want to see. Other 14-going-on-15 year olds might be okay seeing nsfw fanart and posts and that will be their Tumblr experience, but you should definitely take measures to protect yourself from what you don’t want to see.

Now, the thing about Otayuri is that no matter how you twist it, it’s not illegal to ship it, even in a sexual way. You should definitely read this post about it, because the thing is, as much as we can project our feelings and real-world stuff into anime characters, they’re not real.

I assure you that if Yuri on Ice was a flesh and bone show things would be different. I don’t really watch any current TV shows with teens in them so I can’t speak for what other fandoms do with their ship, whether they’re sexualized or not. I can only speak for this silly and amazing anime that’s been consuming my life for the past seven months or so.

Anime and cartoon characters are a safe way to explore things about real life. Whether it be sex or depression or anxiety or simply falling in love, we can all identify with an anime character and see our flaws, our fears and our history in them.

The thing you have to remember is that we (I’m speaking for the slightly older part of the fandom since I’m in my twenties) have been Yuri’s age. We’ve very likely had crushes on boys or girls that were a bit younger, our age or slightly older (like Otabek is). So I think for most of us, shipping Otayuri is a way to remember what it feels like to be a teen and be in love/have a huge crush. We will never be that age again, and maybe there’s things we regret not doing, crushes we wish we had confessed. By shipping Otayuri in an active way (meaning: drawing fanart or writing fanfiction) we can explore things we experienced as teens (or wish we had) and pour a little bit of ourselves in Yuri’s (or Otabek’s) character.

Those things might involve anything from simple fluff or rough sex, because, accept it or not, some people at 15 or 16 were (are) having sex of all kinds. Sweet, loving, rough, vanilla, kinky, you-name-it sex. So not to explore that aspect in a healthy way (through fics or fanart) would be lying about what reality is, it would be denying that we ever thought about or had sex at that age.

Much like with blocking tumblr content, you can choose what kinds of fanfiction you read. Only read General and Teen and Up tagged things, read about fluff and about falling in love in a sweet innocent way. Read anything tagged “Ace!Yuri” (it means asexual, the thing I was telling you about before).

But please understand this: when we sexualize Yuri, we’re mostly sexualizing our (often past) selves. Not other teens, not other real-life people. Yuri doesn’t exist in real life, and many of us see bits and pieces of ourselves in him. When we write about him we really write about ourselves, be it because we want to see how we (maybe a little sassier and bitchier version of us) would have confessed a crush to our best friend, or would have handled the aftermath of having just shoved our gloved fingers in said best friend’s mouth in front of thousands of people. Fanfiction is a study about versions of ourselves that never existed, but might as well have.

Another thing I need to make clear: Otabek is not an adult. I assure you that the morning of your 18th birthday you won’t feel like an adult. You’ll feel like the you from yesterday and it will be anticlimactic af, you’ll be like “That’s it?” and yeah, it will be it. Just because the law in some country or state says that 18 is the age of consent (which is set to 16 or 14 years old in many other countries) it doesn’t mean that you’re automatically an adult at that age. You can be 18 and have had sex since you were 14. You can be 18 and completely uninterested in sex. You can be 18 and have a 15 year old mental age, or you can be 16 and be mentally more mature than some 20 year olds.

What canon has shown us, is that Yuri and Otabek are much closer to each other’s mental age than the 2 years + a few months difference they share. I encourage you to find posts about why there’s no power imbalance between Yuri and Otabek, because they compete in the same sport and they have had similar experiences in life.

In conclusion, if you feel irked about nsfw fanart and fanfics and discussions when it comes to this particular ship, please don’t read it/watch it. But what I can assure you is that none of us are trying to sexualize you or your peers. When we sexualize pixels on a screen we don’t see those pixels as a flesh and bone version of a human, we only see an idealized character whose age we are or have been and whose personality and experiences we want to safely explore.

Also really important: when we write/draw NSFW, we don’t write/draw it for teens to read. I repeat: WE DON’T CREATE NSFW CONTENT FOR TEENS. We’re not your parents or guardians, we write NSFW for whoever feels like they can handle seeing nsfw content. If you’re a teen that goes on the nsfw tag and then complains about it (I’m not saying that’s what you did here, I’m speaking generally), it’s only your fault for going in a tag that you weren’t comfortable to begin with.

TL;DR:

  • Speak up if you feel sexualized IRL in a way you don’t like;
  • Learn how to use tumblr safely, block tags, understand that tumblr doesn’t do those things for you. Make your fandom experience exactly the one you want to see;
  • Don’t trust adults who tell you this ship is somehow illegal: it’s not;
  • Understand what’s behind fiction and fanfiction as a way we have to explore real life things (often too personal to write about as ourselves, so we project those things in characters we like);
  • Understand that adulthood is not something that happens from one day to another;
  • Learn to discern what content is meant to be consumed by a teen and what content isn’t;
  • Be safe.

Bad Vampire Chronicles Aesthetics: Interview w/ the Vampires

u whining coward of a vampire who prowls the night killing alley cats and rats and staring for hrs at candles as if they were ppl and standing in the rain like a zombie until ur clothes are drenched and u smell like old wardrobe trunks in attics and have the look of a baffled idiot at the zoo.

(Inspired by Bad Shakespeare Aesthetics!)

Hey I’m just here to say that you should let kids enjoy and do what they want and not mock em for it.

Know a 13 year old who loves drawing Steven Universe and Undertale? That’s wonderful! Encourage them!

How about a 14 year old who only listens to emo and screamo music (something I’m doing now way past 14 btw)? That shits awesome! Let em dye their hair whatever weird color of the rainbow and wear dark clothes and make up!

What if they’re 12 and makes less than perfect stuff and puts it on DeviantArt? A little girl who wants to act? A nonbinary kiddo who wants to sing? A boy who loves horses?

Yes, yes, yes! Let kids have fun! They will eventually have to face really harsh, heavy, real world stuff, let them have this right now. Even if it seems weird or “cringy” to you.

This Valentine’s Day I’d like to share a few things with you. I’m 19 years old and:

I have never had sex in my life
I have never dated anyone in real life (so not on the Internet)
I have never kissed anyone
I have never been on a date
I have never even held hands with someone romantically
I literally have never even been close to dating anyone in real life

Not because I don’t want to or because I’m picky. Because no one has ever asked me out or showed affection for me or even flirted with me. I don’t think anyone irl has ever fancied me, or if they did they never let me know in any way.

And you know what? I don’t care. I moved on from feeling abnormal and broken and not whole. I refuse to connect my value as a person to those things. I will not allow myself to think of myself as less because I have never done any of those things. Yes maybe my self-esteem still relies on my uni grades or good reviews of my works but I finally stopped thinking that there is something wrong with me for not experiencing those things.

I feel happy and whole anyway. I survived every crush who didn’t return my feelings and every instance of being attracted to someone and knowing they do not like me back. I survived and moved on.

And today I’d like you to turn to things you really value in your life. Your jobs and talents and hobbies and passions. Your family and friends and pets and even house plants. Your favorite books and bands and TV-shows and video games. Your favorite ice-cream and favorite pair of jeans and favorite plush toys.

There are so many people and things you love. There are, I hope, things that make you happy. Focus on them. And screw the society that tells you that you need relationships to know that you are loved. You are already loved. Don’t let society ever persuade you otherwise.

it is a sad day for the mom/dad off. daisy, jemma, and yoyo have lost all their favorite contenders to the framework. coulson, may, mace, dadcliffe, even surprise dad!mack. all gone. all living in a fantasy world. there is no parent left to challenge aida’s tyrannical rule. things seem hopeless. it’s all over, aida won.

and then, suddenly, they remember…..

talbot is still out there

take this away from me

What Is Your Hogwarts House Percentage?
Even the real Sorting Hat isn't this accurate.
By Ellie Bate, Paul Curry

There’s nothing hidden in your head this sorting quiz can’t see.

I got 40% Hufflepuff, 32% Ravenclaw, 23% Gryffindor, and 5% Slytherin.

This is first time I’ve been sorted as Hufflepuff dominant (I usually get Ravenclaw) and I am beyond thrilled because I’ve always aspired to be a Hufflepuff. So I’ll take it!

HOW DO I STUDY FOR _____________

So I think this might be the question I get asked the MOST often. People are always asking me how do I study for this or that class. So I thought I would just make a master post I could link you all to. :)

All classes

  • Watch my video on how to study. This applies to almost everything you have to study.
  • See below for additions to doing everything listed in that video.

Math

  1. Do problems. Do all the problems. Do them again.
  2. Do all the problems in your book.
  3. Get another book and repeat step 2
  4. Trust me 99.9% of all math classes is pattern recognition. If you can learn how to solve the problem you can ace any set of variables they throw at you.

Physics

  1. See math–because physics is JUST applied math. You have to learn how to read the questions and pull out the information you need–the only way to do that is to do dozens of questions!

Micro Bio/ID

  1. Flow charts–break things up by group to understand them. You have to group things to remember what’s gram positive or gram negative
  2. Don’t blow off the actual micro part of micro. If you understand the virulence factors you’re more likely to understand the sx/tx
  3. I had to use a lot of silly sayings to remember all the little pieces of micro. So I would remind myself about the diseases of haemophilus influenzae by saying haEMOPhilus (epiglotitus, meningitis, otitis media, pnuemonia). It was silly but it worked for me.

O Chem

  1. Do all the problems. Do them again.
  2. Get another book and repeat step 1
  3. Flashcard the reactions you don’t understand–put the reactants on one side and the products on the back. Practice these backward and forward.
  4. Draw out every step of reactions you don’t understand
  5. Circle your electrons or mark whatever it is you lose track of
  6. Count–count where everything went at the end to make sure you didn’t screw up.
  7. Categorize. Do all members of this group react this way?? It’s easier to learn the rules and the exceptions than force memorize every individual compound’s reaction.

Gen Chem

  1. See math
  2. Understand real world examples. I related all of the stuff about heat to a cup of coffee. It worked for me
  3. Talk through it! I had to read chemistry out loud or try to repeat it out loud in my own words to have any idea what was going on.
  4. YouTube videos are absolutely perfect for gen chem!! (There’s even a whole CrashCourse series on Gen Chem that’s appropriate especially for high school level chem).

General Biology–Genetics/Immunology/Cell Biologyetc

  1. You really need to watch my video
  2. Cross relate–you have to integrate all your biology together to keep all that information in your head.
  3. Flashcard only the stuff that can’t be understood. (Like cell markers, etc)
  4. Charts! Biology is all about categorization and understanding the similarities between different groups of things. If you can simply remember the characteristics of a group it’s easy to know everything you need to about all the members of that group.

Pathology

  1. Pathoma
  2. Look at the pictures until you feel sick.
  3. Make flashcards of the pictures so you can at least do immediate identification of what you’re looking at even if you don’t know exactly what the pathology is.
  4. Integrate! How does the physiology relate to exactly what is going on with the pathology? How does the pathology predict treatment?
  5. Learn some latin and greek root words. Even if you have no idea what the word means you might be able to figure it out from there. :) I’ve gotten more than one question right by just figuring out what the word meant.

Pharmacology

  1. Understand the mechanism of the drug–it will really predict how it is used or what its toxicities are for
  2. Flashcard the bare minimum or anything bizarre you can’t remember any other way.
  3. Figure out the similarities in the names. If it sounds the same, it probably belongs in the same class.
  4. Don’t learn in isolation. It’s hard to study pharmacology on its own–instead study it integrated with physiology and pathology whenever possible for the best understanding.
  5. Study as case studies!! What diuretics would you give to a patient with CHF? With ESLD?

Biochemistry

  1. Charts–get poster boards or tape together a ton of sheets of paper and try to write out every pathway you can to see how it all is integrated.
  2. Always track the flow of energy!! Where is your NAD/ATP/etc?
  3. Group pathways by the “point”. Are you destroying carbohydrates or building fats? How does this compare to other pathways that do the same thing?
  4. Try to rewrite the pathways from memory then see what you missed.

Anatomy

  1. Spend a bunch of time with the specimens if you have access to them.
  2. DRAW even if you suck at drawing
  3. Learn the clinical correlations–why do you care
  4. Thing about everything in relationship to one another!
  5. Do questions!! Grey’s has a student question book I recommend.

I’ll probably add more to this list as I go and as more of you ask for specific subject advice, but here you go!!

When in doubt, always ask yourself “how would this be asked on a test?”. If you could write a test question about it, you should definitely know it!

And always remember that you should study for understanding and not just for a grade–always be learning and not memorizing. It’s more important you understand the material than you get the A!!

Happy studying!

Hey guys!!

I know it hasn’t really been a minute since I’ve been posting like left and right this last month or so, but I’ve been getting a lot of notes and emails and all sorts of stuff so I figured I’d just throw down some quick updoots to get you all in the know (or at least my version of the know, we’ll figure that part out later)

FIRST OFF I want to thank every one of you out there who’s supported my art either through your likes, reblogs/retweets, and even Patreon support (which has gotten up to $200 a month wow!!) It’s only been like what, a year since I started posting art to the furry fandom and it’s been just a heck of a ride the entire way. Like I nearly went from 400 followers about a year ago to literally almost 7 THOUSAND FOLLOWERS???

If you had asked me if any of this was possible on my end about a year ago, frankly I’d tell you it was just a far off fantasy. BUT JOKES ON PAST ME BECAUSE YOU GUYS ARE MAKING ME CRY IRL EVERY DAY. SO JUST THANKS. WOW. I LOVE ALL OF YOU!!

(and if you’ve been one of those people behind the scenes pushing my butt in the right direction, I love you just that much more. you all know who you are uwu)

SO AS YOU’VE PROBABLY NOTICED I’ve been doing a butt ton of art (specifically commissions!) very recently, and it’s been a heck of a refreshing change for me to just do some quick lil animated bits and layout stuff ! But the real world is scary and wants money so i’m also on the hunt for a more permanent job situation while I manage some of these upcoming projects and commissions. I will say definitively I’ll be closing off commissions for the upcoming month (but I’ll get to that in a sec)

The big one being my Chuck and Deen reboot, which is now officially going under the name HOW I LEFT TOWN (AND GOT LOST FOREVER)

The comics going under a serious overhaul in terms of tone, style and writing, but you’ll be seeing a return of all your fav characters in something I’m hoping will reflect a lot of the themes my artworks been giving off this last year. It’ll be dramatic, it’ll be super gay, and it’ll have lots of spooks! So here’s hoping I can deliver something special when I find the time to get posting.

The elephant in the room for me atm is my unfinished senior film that’s been sitting in limbo since I graduated from SVA. It’s literally just waiting to be finished (after some technical issues regarding time and coordination) and tbh it’s just a load of demo reel/portfolio material waiting to be unbenched, so I’ve decided to make that my first priority before my next big contract this coming month. I’m hoping I’ll have a good film to show for and finally a finished project under my belt by the beginning of July, so cheer along and look forward to some dumb teen comedy about vampires and terrible pizza!!

From there, I can definitely see myself dedicating my free time to making progress on my new comic and just tons more of the same kind of stuff you’ve been seeing me post recently. Here’s hoping I can pay back all the kindness and love I’ve received this last year uwu

Uncomprehensively,
Coca

TL;DR
Need to finish my student film before I get rolling on the new Chuck and Deen to get them sick career opportunities. Commissions are kind of closed. I love all of you. Deuces.
