this one's for you crow

I Am Doing Commissions!!

I am currently setting up a PayPal account so I can properly start doing some commissions!

I am super thankful for my followers who’ve spread my Gravity falls and Voltron fanart and helped me reach 570 Followers! It may be small, but it really means a lot to me, especially the ones i see like/reblog almost every picture i put on here, and even leave a few comments. It really makes me enjoy putting things up here.

But I want to ask something of my followers, If you are willing to answer. It’ll be a great help and let me know if anyone is really interested.

I noticed a few of you really enjoyed my Character Designs for Crow, this fella right here:

One of you even asking if I could do more.

my question is: If I do open commissions, should I also do commissions for character designs? This includes original characters or even fan characters.

Of course I will be making a post of Commission Information once i have my account situated and okay with what i will and won’t be drawing and the information of how it’ll work. But would any of you pay for, or think that doing character designs for people would be a good idea?

how would one tell the difference between a crow and a raven?

You might be surprised to learn there are a lot of different species of raven and crow! The taxonomic difference between a raven and a crow (that is, whether a species gets named of or the other) is size and lifespan rather than genetic grouping. When comparing the species most of us are most familiar with  – the American crow (C. brachyrhyncos) and common raven (C. corax), which will be the two I’m focusing on here – you can’t exactly tell the bird’s age most of the time, so if you have other animals or objects to compare the bird to, size is often the first clue.

The common raven is is massive for a passerine. It’s the size of a red-tailed a hawk, with a wingspan over four feet. Crows, on the other hand, are typically about the size of an African grey parrot. Compare someone holding a crow vs someone holding a raven:

And lemme tell ya, it’s one thing to READ about how big they are, but it’s another to SEE it.

If you see a corvid in flight and can’t get a bead on its proportions, the shape of the tail and flight feathers is another good identifier. A crow’s tail is triangular or fan-shaped, while a raven’s is wedge-shaped (ie the middle tail feathers are longest). Both have well-defined primaries, but a raven’s are much deeper and tend to spread wider. Ravens tend to soar a lot, too; crows are consistent flappers.

Finally, if you can get a good look at the head, the differences are pretty obvious. A raven has a beak that hooks at the end and is as long as its head (or in the case of a Chihuahuan raven, longer than!) while a crow’s beak is straighter, shorter, and lighter-looking in general. Both have nasal bristles, but the shape these bristles form is different due to beak size (a raven’s often looks squared off). Crows are kinda shiny and a bit fluffy; ravens are iridescent and have a very distinctive “beard” of shaggy feathers at their throats which bristles up like hackles when they call.

Finally, their voices are a bit different – a crow’s flat, high caw vs a raven’s deep, resonating kronk – but both species have a very wide range of natural vocalisations and are accomplished mimics. [This video] has some great examples of the caw vs kronk sounds.

Hope that helps! o/

grishanet challenge three: favourite ships

“Two of the deadliest people the Barrel had to offer and they could barely touch each other without both of them keeling over. But they’d tried. He’d tried. Maybe they could try again.

Nina wished Colm Fahey could march over to Jan Van Eck’s office and tell him to give Inej back or get a mouth full of knuckles. She wished someone in this city would help them, that they weren’t so alone. She wished Jesper’s father could take them all with him. She’s never been to Novyi Zem, but the longing for those golden fields felt just like homesickness.

Cooking (The Kingsglaive)

I don’t see a lot of stuff for them so I thought I’d do a little something for our beloved Kingsglaive :)

Not particularly good at cooking, but passable enough to look after himself. Doesn’t mind cooking for others, but prefers to avoid it. He doesn’t want to have to deal with a dead body if he screws something up.

LOVES cooking. And he’s actually pretty good at it too. He’s a bit of a mama bear when it comes to the younger Glaive members so he tends to make snacks for them when he has the time.

Very hit or miss. Somedays she can make the most appetising food ever and everyone wants to try, much to her chagrin. Other days people hog the bathroom because “Dear God Crowe what did you throw in there?” One has to wonder though if she does this on purpose; as revenge for not letting her eat in peace. Nyx has made a betting game based on whether the people who eat her food fall sick or not.

Not a big fan of cooking. He tends to make silly mistakes and ends up hurting himself or someone else when he does. If he ever feels curious enough to give cooking another chance (while in the main kitchen of the Glaives) an impending sense of doom washes over everyone. And then Nyx is running to the kitchen with a fire extinguisher because Pelna may be tech savvy but he literally just tried to boil an egg and now the alarms are going off.

The day has finally come. It’s time for you to get your old man’s crow. You’ve been with Chibs for a few years now and since you don’t have any tattoos you were scared of getting his crow. He understood it, of course, and after a long discussion with one of your best friends, Juice, you decided to get Chibs’ crow. Just to show everyone who you love the most and who they have to deal with if they hurt you.

‘’Chibby.’’ Your old man takes his classes off and looks up to you with a smile. ‘’What is it love?’’ You sit next to him. Juice looks at you. You smile at him and look at Chibs. ‘’I was thinking that maybe I could ask Happy if he wanted to do you crow on me.’’ Chibs’ eyes light up. ‘’You sure about that?’’ ‘’Yeah.’’ You smile at him. He kisses you.

‘’Happy!’’ ‘’What?’’ Happy answered to Chibs’ call. ‘’Do you want to tattoo my old lady?’’ You grin at Hap. ‘’It would be my pleasure.’’ He smiles and winks at you. ‘’Thank you, Happy.’’ ‘’So when are we doing this?’’ You and your old man look at each other. ‘’Now?’’ Chibs hesitates first but then nods. ‘’You sure you’re ready?’’ You nod and take Happy’s hand. ‘’Let’s go then.’’

You lay on the table and smile at your old man. ‘’Calm down Chibs. I’m fine. I can take pain.’’ He nods. Happy walks over and gives you both a smile. ‘’Okay. Are we ready?’’ ‘’I know I am but I’m not sure about him.’’ You point at Chibs. ‘’Yea. We’re ready.’’ ‘’Okay. Let’s do this then.’’ You take Chibs’ hand and Happy starts.
