He didn’t say much as the reaper came to him in the night, telling him that it was time, that he was going to have to pay the debt that he created that one evening. The reaper handed him the scythe and said that there was no world without death. He who kills death must become death himself.
And so that’s what Dean became.
He watched with tired eyes as his brother desperately tried to find a way to save Dean from this fate of an immortal eternity. He tried all the way up to the moment that Dean came for him one night, hand outstretched, saying that it was finally time to come with him.
And Sam did without question. He followed Death into the endless abyss, bowing his head for one final time.
I decided to dig through all the lyrics sheets of some of the most popular musicals, finding the first times the titles of the musicals were stated. It was actually challenging, surprisingly, for some of the plays where the title isn’t actually said in the songs that much. But I made some pretty edits, and had a lot of fun with it. I also did one for Pippin, Sound of music and Gigi but. These were my favorites.
fiona goode (american horror story: coven) “What are we talking about? College boys? Taken in the prime of their lives. Such a tragedy. Almost makes you wanna cry, doesn’t it? But then, the world’s not gonna miss a bunch of as*holes in Ed Hardy T-shirts.”
A sequel-ette to Blue-Eyed Jack. Jack just wants confirmation the song is about him. He doesn’t mean to fall down this particular rabbit hole.
When Bitty & the Biscuits came out with their new single, Jack was one of the first to know.
He wasn’t obsessed with the band, per se, just…enthusiastic. Jack loved country and folk music, grew up listening to his mom’s Johnny Cash and Emmylou Harris albums. His first concert had been Charlie Daniels. His first crush had been Natalie Maines. And a year ago, when he’d stumbled across this little band with a Canadian guitarist and a ridiculously cute lead singer who was openly gay–well, Jack had been sold on the spot.
one of my favorite things about listening to Hamilton is the transition between Dear Theodosia and Non-Stop because since I haven’t seen it my vision of the staging is Burr and Hamilton carefully cradling their babies and then just tossing them in the air with “AF-ter the war”
It had been some time since I had wifi, so I ventured to the library to download K-Dramas for entertainment purposes. This is My Year in K-Dramas. The last two are recent and I have watched them with wifi because I am in a better place. Yay!!
1. Oh My Venus
This drama started out being really sad to me, then it became rather weird, but then I thought it was cute. It is one of those dramas that I would definitely say I enjoyed. Without wifi and cable, it was also hard to watch a second or third time. By the third time, I just went through my favorite episodes/moments. Would still recommend! 4.5 STARS!
(HENRY IS THE CHERRY ON TOP)
2. Cheese in the Trap
Now this one I was actually kind of bored with until about the fifth episode. Sorry, but true. I had a hard time understanding why it was popular. Of course, though, I did enjoy watching it after getting into it. After some time, it had me hooked and trying to figure things out as it went and the male lead had me all confused and stuff! Kekeke Would I recommend? Yes. 4 STARS!
(SEO KANG JUN IS THE SUGAR IN MY LIFE)
3. Liar Game
This one I stumbled upon by chance. I looked it up on Google and decided the synopsis made the show seem very intriguing. So I downloaded it and enjoyed every second of this mystery thriller!! From beginning to end I was hooked, like a fish on a line!! I could not get enough of the show and even checked to see if there was another season. I still need another one. TOTALLY DAEBAK!!! 5 STARS
(SHIN SUNG ROK PLAYS EVIL SO WELL)
4. Descendants of the Sun
THIS ONE!! Yes, this one. This drama I kept in my files for a long time, even after I moved TWICE(!!!!). I love this drama from beginning to end and may have watched it about ten times… Without skipping episodes. I love it so much, I had the poster as my phone’s background and had ringtones. I am not ashamed!! Song-Song couple is love, dude!! This one breaks the record. WAY PAST 5 STARS!!!
(THAT SONG JOONG KI THOUGH)
5. W: Two Worlds
Now tell me why Lee Jong Suk said he wants to play a more masculine type of character when he did such a cool, manly job playing as his character Kang Chul?! He is the definition of perfection and I love him so much. I started feeling rather odd when I wanted him to catch me in a bathroom. Like, I volunteer to be scared like that!! All semi-joking aside, the drama is freaking awesome and the story line was well thought out. I would like to meet the writer and get some tips. 5 STARS!!!
(PLEASE TORTURE ME LEE JONG SUK)
So many favorite scenes, so much bromance. Is it bad of me to say I loved this drama from beginning to end, too? I hope not. Although, for some reason, I wasn’t too into the beginning scene of the first episode. I shrug when I think about it because I have no idea why I’m not pleased with it. Gong Yoo did amazing acting out the battle and the movements were great and everything, but eh. ANYWAY! This drama had me swooning over anything and everything and even made me feel lonely af. I super love love it, though and totally watched it again and again!! Another one that broke the scale!!
(YOOK SUNG JAE WAS AWESOME)
7. Weightlifting Fairy Kim Bok Joo
I just recently finished this one, so fresh out of the mind reaction. Here goes. NAM JOO HYUK, STOP STEALING MY HEART!!!!!! The story was great and the acting was even greater!! I love that it’s not the typical thin boy loves thin girl. Noooope, nope, nope. I am so in love with the story, I may go watch it again. With each episode, I had to make sure I was breathing because Nam Joo Hyuk kept me from breathing correctly. The love scenes were so cute and well thought out and that’s what really had me feeling like a high school teenager again. Oh, those feelings of blissful love. Sigh. I would definitely recommend this drama that peoples ears would fall off. I’m so in love with it. ANOTHER SCALE BREAKER!!!!!
(NAM JOO HYUK PLEASE TAKE MY HEART)
Thank you so much for reading!! (If you did) I know it was super long and not well typed, but I was afraid of mentioning any spoilers. Please keep in mind that I really did enjoy each and every one of these dramas. No harm, no foul.
Got a drama you want to recommend I watch and review? Leave me a comment/message! Thank you!! Heartu!
Oh my gosh, I have an excuse to point out the faves. So excited.
I’ll be forming a link for each fic I post and of course, tag the authors and link them to their page on AO3 as well. It’s muy importante.
I’m leaving it to my top five picks because… it’s really hard to pick from the massive pool of talent-driven works I’ve read… honestly there are sooo many that I hold so close to my heart, but I can’t list them all here because I need to trust my ultimate favorites and, yeah.
Also I’m only posting one favorite per author, because there are always multiple favorites with each writer but it helps narrow it all down if I do it this way.
Oh, and these works that I have finished reading. So, if I haven’t finished the fic or haven’t read all of the chapters posted up to that point, then it’s not fair for me to call it a “complete favorite.” So stay tuned until the very end to see those other wonderful recommendations! (And I swear that I will finish them!)
Okay. So. I think this is… probably my favorite oneshot work from the Hunter x Hunter fanfiction archive. This is just, absolutely phenomenal and heartbreaking and filled with angst and threads of hope and Killua and Gon are so interesting to observe through the eyes of multiple characters as tension and difficulties come into light. Oh, speaking of that, the level of suspense and buildup is just… ah. This is great, from beginning to end and I’ve read it dozens of times.
I’ve definitely sung praises for this fic before, but it’s seriously, without a doubt, one of the most tightly written, creative Alternate Universe Killua/Gon stories. Killua and Gon’s relationship feels so raw and real, and the Hanahaki Disease is difficult to capture well in most settings, but I’m so glad that the concept behind this was taken in such an intriguing direction, and it allowed us into a very canon-like appreciation of Gon and Killua’s friendship/relationship.
I love this work mostly because of how believable it feels each time I read it. It’s mostly very sweet, but there’s a certain… candor, to it, that feels so refreshing when regarding the question on whether or not Killua and Gon would actually get married if they had the chance. I love the pacing, how the topic is handled, and I’m afraid if I say anything else it’ll spoil it. Please read it and leave lovely words behind for this talented writer.
I never get tired of reading this story. I was honestly very torn between either posting this as my favorite from this author or Fireworks on Whale Island, which also displays this writer’s very sensible talents. The writing style is emotive, sensitive, and allows plenty of room to breathe, if that makes sense. You really feel every moment with Killua and Gon in this sweet, beautifully constructed piece. Honestly, reading this will make you just shine from the inside.
So. Um. There are many, and I mean many, works by this writer that are just jaw-dropping in the Hunter x Hunter fandom. I can’t even express how lovely everything they write is. But, I can only pick one per author… so, this one it is. Honestly, this story resonates with growing up, the angst and pain that radiates through Killua and Gon’s friendship, and so many more aspects of their relationship that come into light as they reunite as adults. The writing is marvelous and poetic and beautiful. I can’t recommend this enough.
WORKS I LOVE THAT I HAVEN’T FINISHED YET | HUNTER X HUNTER
AH. I’M A HORRIBLE PERSON FOR NOT FINISHING THIS. I’ve listened to this heart-racing and solemn and wonderfully voice-acted piece almost to the very end, and that’s not a testament to Shawn’s talent because he’s brilliant. Now, this is the first audio fic I’ve ever listened to and if you haven’t listened to that many (or any) and are skeptical like I was, please give it a chance. The characterization of Killua in this is intriguing and different, and very refreshing. There’s so much passion and love put into this and you can feel it through each chapter/audio.
Okay, I love how this is written. I honestly do. I’ve read up to… chapter nine, or so, dozens of different times and kept trying to push through to the finish and just fell off for no other reason aside from my forgetfulness. This fic, though, I think, is honestly one of the best in the Hunter x Hunter archive. The characterization is interesting, especially with Gon, and I love how smooth the pacing and writing is and the take on each prompt is creative and fresh.
THIS. FIC. Is so… heavy. The pacing and the tension and the buildup are all brilliantly woven together, and I do realize that this story was actually recently completed. I’m planning on going through from the very beginning and reading it to the very end because it’s enthralling and wonderful, and I believe I stopped around the eighth chapter. Please, read this. It’s incredible.
WOO. Alright. Now it’s time for Boku no Hero Academia. Damn.
Okay, so, um, it was really difficult to choose between this story and the equally masterful and wonderful character-driven piece,Make Every Moment Last. Both works are wonderful, but there’s something very raw and open about how she portrays the relationship between Katsuki and Izuku in her works, and… ah. Osakakitty has a fantastic, insightful view on these beloved characters and I adore how she writes Katsuki Bakugou especially. I can’t honestly praise this fic enough. Please read.
I think… nearly every person who likes BakuDeku/KatsuDeku knows about this story. This is, in my opinion, the BakuDeku fics of all BakuDeku fics, especially for first-time readers curious about the ship. It’s set in the canon universe and closely (with creative liberties taken of course) follows the main storyline of the manga/anime with a very intriguing look into the dynamic and “unrequited love” aspect of the Katsuki/Izuku relationship.
Okay, so, where do I even start with this? I love, and I mean, love, the concept behind this. This AU is so refreshing and unique and I love how in-character and tragic and angsty this story is, with outstanding imagery and themes that definitely border on the line of ambiguity and social construct. I love the questions raised in this story about relationships, family, and brotherhood. I personally consider it to be phenomenal and criminally underrated. Please read this.
This story is… for one, the amount of effort taken into capturing the elements of the original story and broadening the horizons within them in each chapter is worth mentioning on its own. I love the relationship between Izuku and Katsuki and their dynamic with the rest of their class, on top of how well the canon events are handled with a few twists thrown in there. Also, Izuku’s characterized very, very well in this, and I love that he stands equally with Katsuki. That’s honestly quite a rarity to find in fanfiction, and it’s something to behold.
This is my favorite interpretation of the Soulmate AU that I’ve seen in the BNHA archive so far, especially with BakuDeku. I’m sure there are many exceptional ones under other ships, but… this is my list. Heh. Anyway, this is a wonderful fic with a great eye for characterization and detail, and it’s mostly from Katsuki’s perspective, which is great. I always love seeing different interpretations of his character and how he would handle being Izuku’s soulmate. This fic is wonderful.
I LOVE THIS STORY AND I WANT TO CATCH UP. It’s not even completed yet but I really love the dynamic between Katsuki and Izuku in this. This author has also written many other oneshots that I love and wanted to recommend but they would be out of my top five. Still, read FascinatingandManage Me, and then go read THIS because it’s wonderful and action-packed and angsty and dramatic. All the good things.
The rules are simple: Post the first line of your WIP (or a line you’re particularly proud of) without context, then tag as many people as there are words in the line–or until you run out of people to tag if it’s long! If you don’t have a WIP, share a line from one of your favorite books!
First line of my WIP, Wensergutted:
had been an otherwise slow and uneventful Fishersday, on the afternoon that the
unsuspecting food stand, Steamy Buns, very suddenly went up in a ball of fire.
It’s a liveblog! I only finished season two, please no spoilers in the comments/reblogs!
Sharpshooter of a team, a teenager who misses his family, a Cuban, if his comment about Varadero Beach is anything to go by, social butterfly, self-proclaimed Keith’s rival (at least at first,) and a current Blue Paladin.
The first time we meet Lance he’s a leader of a little group back in Garrison simulator. Full of false self-confidence, a little arrogant, his decisions are what, among other things, causes the simulator to crash and burn and along with Hunk and Pidge has to listen to Iverson’s admonishments. And then curious thing happens - when his teammate speaks up he takes superior’s anger on himself, listening how he got to be a fighter pilot only because some other guy was expelled. This whole sequence tells us a lot about Lance and how he wants to be seen by others. He wants to come off as charming, likeable and the one everyone listens to. And he is all that!… When he’s not trying to flaunt himself in front of others. But when it comes to helping and caring about others he’s the one you should turn to.
Lance likes people, likes spending time with them, he’s everyone’s friend in span of seconds (…unless you’re Keith, Iverson, or evil,) likes to analyze them, is very perceptive, especially when it comes to other people. He’s the one who cared about Pidge enough to be her friend (despite the initial cold shoulder she gave him and Hunk) and to notice how she reacts whenever Kerberos mission is mentioned. He’s just interested in people in general and makes friends easily. He trusts very easily which sometimes can end up badly (Nyma, though to be fair to him everyone else besides Hunk trusted both her and Rolo,) but, since he keeps connecting with people it shows how it doesn’t let it affect him that much and how he wants to see the best in others. “But,” you’re going to say. “But what about Keith?” Well, here’s a thing - when it comes to Red Paladin his perspective is skewed thanks to comments he heard in Garrison and his insecurities. He’s looking at him with envy-tinted glasses, so to speak. For him Keith is a goal, constantly tries to prove himself to him and the team, he sees him as this cool guy full of himself who does everything easily. Though he gets to see the real him. Slowly.
His insecurities are a big part of his character development. Lance feels overshadowed by his teammates, while he’s jack-of-all-trades, master of none. Or rather jack-of-all-trades, master of one, if we’re talking about the use of his bayard. And while his sharpshooting skills are definitely there I can’t say it’s his most valuable asset. But it’s something that he thinks might be a thing he can add to the team and tries to make sure they consider him a marksman. He might not have in-born talents like others, but I imagine he has been practicing on his own with his weapon. Also he relies on his eyesight a lot, I guess he must have a good one, which adds to his sharpshooting skills.
What he can’t see, however, is that team trusts him to do his job right and sees him as valuable member for who he is. But it is something he has to figure out himself and be happy with ho he is. So apart from shooting what he adds to the team?
Which brings us to yet another useful trait of his - he’s flexible in various situations and, pardon the pun, can go with a flow. He’s pretty adaptable guy; when figthing Hunk in “The Depths” he does everything he can to not hurt him and in order to get him out of hypnosis and uses his foot (actually tying it with his actions in “Taking Flight” it means kid knows how to put his legs for good use, so there’s another point for him.)
Similiary to Hunk he’s support of the team, but, in contrast to Yellow Paladin’s he’s not the ‘grounding’, more stabilizing one, he’s more on the offensive side, the leg that makes a step forward (again, he trusts easily, while Hunk is more cautious with people.) In Blue Lion he can use unique abilities that are sonic cannon and freezing laser, which can be both used in offense as well as a tool to help others (in “Escape from Beta Traz” the cannon was used to get the map of prison’s interior; the laser was unlocked when saving Balmera from Galran tower falling down on her.)
While Lance chooses what aspects of himself he’s showing to the world a lot of time, he is an honest, open guy. He doesn’t want to bring the party down after feeling a wave of homesickness so he excuses himself, but after Coran finds him he immediately talsk about what’s bothering him. Also don’t forget how he easily shared information about his friends and his own troubles with ‘Slav’ who he knew for a short time. And since he started to recognize his insecurities problem in Beta Traz episode, I expect him to talk to one of his teammates sometime in a future.
Tl;dr: No matter if it’s a life or death situation or not Lance will be there for you. Heart of a team who, sadly, does not believe in himself a lot of times, but that’s what character arcs are for. And it looks like his is going to last few seasons.
