this one makes so much sense

I think straight couples can date easily bc you're always told to just "get a boyfriend" so like... It's easy bc no one will question you or anything but if you like girls you've probably had to try come to terms with it yourself over time so you have to be sure you /really/ like someone first? I don't know if that makes sense but like you get so much shit for being gay that you don't have the luxury of just picking the first person you think is okayish.

The Magic of 2 Blocks or 1 Line

Do you know what authors do when the have a writer’s block?

They commit to write one line every day.

Why and how does it help?

Making small commitments (for example running 2 blocks every day) - lower the hurdle to actually do it and stay consistent. The goal of running just 2 blocks hepls you getting out of the door at all.

But the best thing about it is something different:

More often than not you will end up running longer than just those 2 blocks - as you realize that you feel good today, you have some more minutes left, you actually enjoy running on this beautiful day.

Our authors will end up writing more than that one scrapy sentece most of the times. They finish that thougth, add that bridge connecting two ideas or simply rearange a couple of paragraphs to make sense of all those words.

The impact of that commitment is a so much bigger than just that one line of text.

It get you one step closer and helps you forming a habit.

Why so much drama about habits?

“We are what we repeatedly do. Excellence, then, is not an act, but a habit.”
— Aristotle

Or let me put this into perpespective for you:

What differnece does it make to put a tiny brush into your mouth for 2 minutes? NONE!

But doing this consitently twice a day, every single day for decades will make the difference between keeping your smile or losing your teeth. Same thing with that healthy lunch break or that 3 mile jog in the evening… that is why habits matter.

But forming those kind of positive habits always start with that tiny commitment.

Best of luck with your lines, runs, calls, meals, tasks, …

This week we’re reccing our favorite oneshots, as per an anon request. Today’s post is a long oneshot. If you like this fic, please consider leaving it a comment/kudos!

when your heart is bleeding, i’m coming to get you - cosetties / @bechnaesun (13k words)

Isak doesn’t exactly expect his hookup from last week to be the love advice columnist at the school newspaper he’s working at. He also doesn’t expect to fall even harder for him than he already has, which is a shame, really, since Even’s crushing on someone else.

Our Ramblings:

  • The premise of the verse is so cute, first of all - the idea of Even as a popular love advice columnist just makes so much sense!!
  • Love how Even has the most obvious crush on Isak ever but Isak remains oblivious - probably one of our favorite tropes, and it’s done so well in this fic, both of them feel so in character and Isak’s perspective is frustratingly limited but also it’s easy for the audience to fill in the gaps of Even’s feelings even though Isak can’t
  • Development of their relationship is very well-paced and natural feeling and just feels very appropriate for the premise itself! Especially love how organically their friendship springs up and grows throughout the fic

Sarah’s favorite lines:

It’s not his place, but Isak can’t help clenching his hands into fists anyway, so hard that his fingernails bite into his palm. “I wish people wouldn’t just reduce you to your sexuality. That’s not the only thing that’s important about you.”

Isak’s just getting to know him, but every new piece of knowledge about Even feels like a privilege. The way he nuzzles his nose into his pillow when he’s sleeping, the way he makes his coffee, which ends up becoming half sugar, the way he bites his pens when he’s working hard, and Isak can’t tear his gaze away from Even’s mouth every time he passes his desk.

“You think there’s more to me?” Even says softly, and if Isak thought that it was a little too much, a little too intense for the short time they’ve known each other, he wouldn’t take it back.

Kathi’s favorite lines:

Even takes a second to respond, but soon, a soft smile spreads over his face. “I like you like this.”

It catches Isak off guard, makes his breath still. “What do you mean?” he says slowly.

“You’re so serious all the time. This is nice.” Even slides off the chair and sits next to Isak, cross-legged. With his bottom lip between his teeth, he strokes his thumb along Isak’s cheek. The touch is a spreading fire on Isak’s skin, burning him down all the way to his heart. He thinks Even may have full access to it already.

Hello! Can we get another Under Pink Skies Instagram post?? I missed it so much and btw your writing is pretty dope! Keep it up!

I have a special one I’m hoping to get posted tonight or tomorrow that doesn’t have anything to do with the current storyline. I was going to post it later, but I really want to do it now (for reasons that will make sense when it’s posted)

As far as posts pertaining to the current storyline, I have a whole series to go along with this next chapter. Would you all be opposed to me posting like 4 of them as a little teaser type thing? It’ll reveal where they go on their trip, but nothing else that would spoil anything important

today is a bad day to be doing tumblr

I think one reason why I search out outrage porn is because it reinforces my own views. It also in some sense ~proves me right~. Also, it makes me angry with very low energy input. Being angry can be fun; it’s better than boredom.

It’s also a lot like insight porn, but you feel so much more insightful because you’re dissecting people’s opinions yourself (or rather: you’re rehearsing your opinions again and winning, /again/). It’s terrifically cathartic.

I need to stop doing this.

Just an idea that you could incorporate in a story some day, if you wish to: I would love to see Dany learn how to sword fight. I mean it would make sense with the oncoming war for someone to point out that if she falls off the dragon or find herself on the ground somehow, she is entirely helpless- so she should learn the basics at least. And maybe Jon could teach her, hehe

how about this and this

And I agree-I need this in season 8 (although I’m not holding out much hope for it lol). It’ll probably just end up being one of my headcanons ^-^

am i the only one who lost complete faith in bellarke the shows been om air for 4 years and the one final opportunity they had to kiss shouldve been right b4 they separated for 6 years they both were walking into their potential deaths and it just makes no sense how there wasnt at least a confession. then i remembered the writers are still pandering to antis who never shut up so it pretty much made me think that legit every small moment that has been given to us is bait for us to stay watching

2/2 you seem like one of the voice of reasons in the fandom and i just had to get it off my chest im just pretty sure the writers are baiting us all along for when they bring you know who back in the series finale or something its so sad bc we stuck around for so long and idk im pretty sure everyone has this feeling that bellarke will never happen so the antis will be happy. i wish theyd realize most of general audience prefers bellarke idk im just sad i wasted my time on this show for 4 yrs

Hello nonny! Not worry I am here to restore your faith in all things canon blarke and s5 is our time! I totally feel your pain, sometimes even I get in those ‘blarke is never gonna fuck what’s even the point’ moods, but i have some long ranting posts ill shoot your way so you have some things to think about and hopefully it’ll raise your spirits! (also you saying I’m a voice of reason made me laugh because in all honesty I’m a huge emo mess <3)

About the kiss being in the s4 finale. at first I really thought it would happen too, since if they think they’re gonna die they should confess and make out, except, they didn’t think that, at least Bellamy didn’t. He thought they were gonna have 5 years of the 2 of them stuck in space to figure it out and be together so he didn’t feel the pressure to have to confess before they went up. Clarke probably didn’t do anything because she was almost certain she was going to die and she probably didn’t want to put all that on Bellamy if he was just going to lose her anyway. Thats especially easy to notice if you pay attention to the face caress scene where she seems light hearted and happy looking at him and then she remembers her mom’s vision. And if you recall there were two separate instances where one of them tried to either confess or say goodbye and the other wouldn’t let them (Bellamy before clarke went to the island and Clarke before the head and heart convo). ALSO leaving the confession up in the air gives the opportunity for them to add a lot of conflict with bellamy not getting to tell her going into next season. So when you think about that, it makes a lot of sense for them not to have kissed in the finale.

About the writers pandering to a certain audience, I agree. they name dropped L at unnecessary and excessive points last season to pacify the antis as best as they could. I get it, I hated it, it hurt Clarke’s character, and it wasn’t needed, but like i get what they were trying to do, unsuccessfully. HOWEVER I don’t think that’ll be a problem going forward. The time jump allows time for Clarke to have grieved and moved on in the last 6 years. She’s not fresh off the loss of a loved one and she’s been able to come into herself and move on essentially. AND the writers have been active on Twitter, and talking about Bellarke for the first time since S2 which is a big deal. They’re out of their Post-L Hibernation and they feel safe, well at least safer, talking about Bellarke on social media, meaning they’ve moved on from trying to pacify the antis in that regard. I think we’re pretty much over seeing them directly pandering to the CL’s at this point.

Running off of that there’s also the scripts that the writers release, which have so far been pretty Bellarke heavy with the “another piece of her soul on the line”, “kill another person who she loves”, every part of the finale scripts and Bellamy’s “heart screaming”. Like… they released a script canonically saying Clarke loves Bellamy (and in a romantic way since the only other person she loved that she killed in canon was Finn). They’re putting it out there.

There’s no way they’re going to bring L back. Jason said she’s dead and not coming back. ABC has said it. And she’s trying to stay as far away from this show and that character as possible right now, she’s moved on she’s not going to come back.

As for baiting, yeah they stretch it out and a lot of people think 4 season is unrealistic, but I say time and time again, when you look at canon slow burns and how long they take, 4 seasons, not even full seasons let me remind you, is child’s play. Mulder and Scully took 7 seasons to kiss and almost the whole 9 seasons to be fully canon on the show. Stiles and Lydia took 6 seasons to be canon, Rick and Michonne took 4ish seasons to go canon (still more episodes than The 100′s current 58). Booth and Brennan, Fitz and Simmons, Harvey and Donna (I see you Ana), Ron and Hermione, they all took years and almost twice as long as Bellarke have. It’s how television works. It’s annoying and it’s unrealistic a lot of the times, but its a trope, it follows a pattern, it’s how television shows grab a certain type of viewers and and ensure that they can keep them for the run of the show. Because it’s widely believed by the tv industry that once the ‘will they won’t they’ aspect is gone, viewers lose interest so they string it out as long as they think they can. Whether its true or not thats how it works.

There are also two more major reasons I think, or rather I know, Bellarke are endgame. The 6 Year Separation, and the fact that That’s The Story Jason Is Writing

I have separate long posts for these on my blog so I’ll be brief and link those for further reading, but to start off, extended separations are romantic tropes. Being separated for years and thinking the other person is or could be dead is a tried and true romantic Hollywood trope. Almost every example of this in entertainment, be it tv, books, or film, has romantic connotations surrounding it. The entire post about it can be found right here, if you want the low down, which I suggest. I list off other examples and proof in it.

Moving towards Jason writing romantic Bellarke, it’s what he’s doing. If you look back at all the pivotal ‘Bellarke’ scenes in the past, Jason or Aaron have written a good portion of those episodes. Jason, the show runner, and Aaron, the guy he was ready to have take over if his other show got picked up. That combined with how many times he’s said that this is ‘Clarke and Bellamy’s story’ and in the past (S1-2) how free he was when speaking about Bellarke on social media. It’s always been the plan. He just likes to pull a Chris Carter (show runner of The X-Files, and the OG JRoth) and try to drag it out and deny it as much as possible. Seriously look up some of the stuff CC has said about Mulder and Scully in the past and it fits the same pattern. You can find the full post right here, where I give quotes and explain everything further.

Taking a turn for a second, you can also think about the fact that tv shows almost NEVER put their big endgame together until the end of the show is approaching, especially if it’s between the two series mains. They don’t give that to you early on, that’s why most bigger ships in tv are at least partially slow burn, they don’t put the big couples together in the first season or two.

And I guess to close out, you can think about the fact that S1 Bellamy is set up as a romantic interest for Clarke from the beginning. His character and their relationship follow the ‘enemy/bad boy isn’t actually that bad and actually has a heart and realizes that when he meets the good girl that challenges him’ like come on my guys… they’re set up as a trope from episode 2 when he saves her, and then episode 3 when he stares at her killing Atom and he gets all soft and realizes she’s not who he thought she was. It even comes complete with the jealous canon love interest and the ‘we’ve been through a lot together”

Never mind, I have one more point. Look at the sizzle reel for next season. It’s set up to make Bellarke look romantic or at least intimately connected. I have another long post for that one right here

I hope that did the trick for reassuring you at least partially and now we can all stew in this hellatus for a few more months before this hell shit returns to us! <3

I really don't care if this sounds mean but I honestly don't trust bisexual women after the awful experiences I've had with them. The ones I met treated same-sex attraction as a funny little game they could play every now and then and showed an utter disrespect towards lesbians so yeah sorry not sorry.

Yeah same tbh… I’m a strong believer that you deserve as much respect as you give, so it makes sense that, after having these experiences, you’d stay on edge around bisexual women.

i just want to take this moment to acknowledge that in s1e1 keith, more than likely, knocked the shit outta Iverson and I for one……..deeply appreciate this fact.

aaaand based on me rewatching this 5 second scene various times, my best guess (by the pained grunting) is that Iverson was this guy:

y’know….the one that got roundhouse kicked and then literally stepped over by keith? yeah thanks keith. love you.

Some people are like that; they just give too much, love too much, even the ones who don’t deserve it. They are the ones who are always there for you, day or night. They are ready to give you their shoulder if you ever feel tired and need someone to lean on or a listening ear if the voices inside your head are making getting out of control but they are often the most lonely people because it’s hard for them to find someone who has the same sense of understanding as them, so they suffer all alone because they know they feel too much and nobody would get it.

Other manga readers are aware that one of the changes made in the anime adaptation was how they set up each match one at a time, instead of all of them happening simultaneously, so in the manga, there was a sense of pressure exerted onto the students when they learned that their other classmates completed the test ahead of them. In the manga, the first one to finish was team Todo-Momo, followed by Team Baku-Deku, so Deku still ended up making commentaries with Recovery Girl much like in the anime, so there weren’t any major changes, maybe aside from Uraraka (& Tsuyu?) who stood beside him and watched from the screens.

However, when I was re-reading the manga…I realized there was one missed opportunity:

Todoroki and Yaoyorozu marveling at a sleeping Bakugou in the school clinic (and then one-by-one other classmates start flooding the room and quietly  watching him too lmao)

What The Signs Mean to Me

Aries: My very first best friend. I love how you never let anything hold you down. You’re brave, artistic and a bit immature, but that gives you that child like flair. I hope you’re happy wherever you are, and I’m sorry things had to end the way they did.

Taurus: Everything comes back to you. The rock solid foundation of my life. A beautiful chaos, art in every sense of the word. I love how you love, and I’m sorry for your pain. No one can find your light for you, but when you do you illuminate the lives of everyone around you.

Gemini: You little rascal, mischief unmanaged. You don’t always have a plan, but at least you have a pla-. The way you navigate the world with your emotional intuition makes me want to be more like you, always true to yourself no matter what. Learn to forgive and let go, your life will be so much easier.

Cancer: You always do what you need, and what you need is not always legal. You always showed me kindness, and calmed me when I was restless. Your love was brotherly, and I hope the fog lifts over your life soon. Something tells me it already has.

Leo: I hate that I love you. I hate how powerless I am around you, how all logic goes out the window and I’m standing in front of you, naked, with nothing to offer you but my heart. But here’s the thing, everybody loves you. And the way you look at me tells me you’ll wait for me, but I’m terrified that you’ll leave me behind. You deserve all the happiness in the world. Please don’t lose sight of who you are.

Virgo: You amaze me. How you handle everything so effortlessly, surrounded by your adoring friends. Sometimes I can’t believe we’re related. You will always be better than me. But in those moments when you don’t feel perfect, please know that you’re never alone, and that we will always be here for you. I swear you’re not human, you are an angel on earth who’s just visiting.

Libra: You are the coolest, most chill fucking person. I’m so grateful for everything you’ve done for me, you are one of those rare people who are truly selfless. Your humour is everything, and how you always seem so at ease calms me down on the most stressful days. You love the world and it loves you right back.

Scorpio: You know me better than I know myself. Your soul will be forever wrapped around mine, co-existing. You taught me what it means to be a friend and what it means to be the enemy. I hope you realize what your power is some day, because your wrath is beyond unparalleled.

Sagittarius: If I would die tomorrow I would be content, knowing that I truly experienced what it means to share a bond with another human being. Why the universe decided to have us cross paths I will never know, but one thing I know for sure is that I would not be me without you. You are a nomad, child of the world. You searched it and found home. But it wasn’t easy, and it took time and a lot of pain but it was all worth it. You give me hope. That no matter how far down I fall, something beautiful will rise from the ruins. You just have to believe.

Capricorn: With you I can just be myself. You never judge me, you see me when I don’t see myself. When we’re together hours pass by in comfortable silence. Or, they used to. You never say much, but when you do it’s always pure genius. I wish you would be kinder to yourself. I know I’m responsible for your broken heart but you never made the burden mine. I will always respect you. I just hope you’ll someday let someone thaw your frozen heart and let yourself be happy.

Aquarius: You are everything I want to be. You are absolutely hypnotizing. I never know if you’re flirting with me or just being friendly. An ice queen, everyone always envies the one that has your love, even if it’s just for a night. Eloquence and elegance, and so much passion. It is scary how well you do what you do, and how your body moves with such grace. Everybody is intimidated by you, and yet you treat everyone as an equal. Your insecurities are crazy to me, if I were you I definitely wouldn’t be this humble.

Pisces: You’re two faced and completely insane, but you’re such a bad bitch wearing either mask that I can’t help but worship you. Your voice could stop wars, and you can make the most absurd things sound completely reasonable. I wish you wouldn’t take everything so personally, sometimes it gets tiring to walk on eggshells around you. Empathy is a virtue worth cultivating. Make sure your integrity and morals are well placed, because if they are nobody can stop you. Not even if they wanted to.

This was originally a post by @kanyenoodles, and I really wanted to make my own version of what the signs mean to me.

Important Quotes from GRRM

“Some people I met thought we have to find the story’s through line. Who’s the important character? Somebody thought that Dany’s the important character – cut away everybody else, tell the story of Dany. Or Jon Snow. Those were the two most popular characters to build everything around, except you’re losing 90 percent of the story. “ - Rollingstone 2014

“[T]hey couldn’t get a handle on the size of the material, the very thing that I set out to do. I had all these meetings saying, “There’s too many characters, it’s too big — Jon Snow is the central character. We’ll eliminate all the other characters and we’ll make it about Jon Snow.” Or “Daenerys is the central character. We’ll eliminate everyone else and make the movie about Daenerys.” And I turned down all those deals.” -Time Magazine 2017

These two quotes are probably the most important quotes from George because he plainly states that the story is not just about Jon/Dæny. George narrows them down to being only 10% of the story. Are they important? Yes. But so are a host of other characters.

“So all that time I thought Gandalf was dead, and now he’s back and now he’s Gandalf the White. And, ehh, he’s more or less the same as always, except he’s more powerful. It always felt a little bit like a cheat to me. And as I got older and considered it more, it also seemed to me that death doesn’t make you more powerful. That’s, in some ways, me talking to Tolkien in the dialogue, saying, “Yeah, if someone comes back from being dead, especially if they suffer a violent, traumatic death, they’re not going to come back as nice as ever.“ That’s what I was trying to do, and am still trying to do, with the Lady Stoneheart character.” - Time Magazine, 2017

Death does not make you stronger or nicer. Applying this to Jon, he is not the same and never will be.

“At some points, when [Game of Thrones showrunners David Benioff and Dan Weiss] and I had discussions about what way we should go in, I would always favor sticking with the books, while they would favor making changes,” he said. “I think one of the biggest ones would probably be when they made the decision not to bring Catelyn Stark back as Lady Stoneheart. That was probably the first major diversion of the show from the books and, you know, I argued against that, and David and Dan made that decision.” - Time Magazine, 2017

Leaving Lady Stoneheart out was something George feels is a big mistake, we can assume that Lady Stoneheart is integral to the storyline in the unreleased books.

"It was the summer of 1991. I was still involved in Hollywood. My agent was trying to get me meetings to pitch my ideas, but I didn’t have anything to do in May and June. It had been years since I wrote a novel. I had an idea for a science-fiction novel called ”Avalon. I started work on it and it was going pretty good, when suddenly it just came to me, this scene, from what would ultimately be the first chapter of A Game of Thrones. It’s from Bran’s viewpoint; they see a man beheaded and they find some direwolf pups in the snow. It just came to me so strongly and vividly that I knew I had to write it. I sat down to write, and in, like, three days it just came right out of me, almost in the form you’ve read.”- Rollingstone, 2014

The Starks sparked the idea, and are at the very root of the story, but not the entire story. This also emphasizes that this book is not just about a bastard and dragon. +Bran is important, though the show fails to portray this.

“You have to remember that I started writing this story in 1991 and I first met David and Dan in 2007. I was living with these characters and this world for 16 years before we even started working on the show. They’re pretty fixed in my mind and I’m not going to change anything because of the show, or reaction to the show, or what fans think. I’m just still writing the story that I set out to write in the early 1990s.- Time Magazine, 2017

I think there are two types of writers, the architects and the gardeners. The architects plan everything ahead of time, like an architect building a house. They know how many rooms are going to be in the house, what kind of roof they’re going to have, where the wires are going to run, what kind of plumbing there’s going to be. They have the whole thing designed and blueprinted out before they even nail the first board up.”

The gardeners dig a hole, drop in a seed and water it,“ he told the Guardian. "They kind of know what seed it is, they know if [they] planted a fantasy seed or mystery seed or whatever. But as the plant comes up and they water it, they don’t know how many branches it’s going to have, they find out as it grows.-2011, The Guardian

“In the case of any of my novels, I know where I’m starting from, I know where I want to end up, more or less,” he said. “I know some of the big turning points along the way, the stuff I’m building for, but you discover an awful lot along the way. Characters rise up and seem more important, and you get to what you’d thought was going to be a big turning point and… the thing you’d thought about two years ago doesn’t really work as well, so you have a better idea! There’s always that process of discovery for me. I know not all writers work that way, but it’s always been the way I work.” -Time Magazine, 2017

Putting these quotes together because they’re implying similar things.

George has a view of where he’s going but that doesn’t mean things can’t be reimagined. For an example, George’s original outline is almost completely different from the books we have now, but a few parts of the outline are still there, but taking shape in different characters.

I did consider in the very early stages not having the dragons in there. I wanted the Targaryen’s symbol to be the dragons, but I did play with the notion that maybe it was like a psionic power, that it was pyrokinesis — that they could conjure up flames with their minds. I went back and forth. My friend and fellow fantasy writer Phyllis Eisenstein actually was the one who convinced me to put the dragons in, and I dedicated the third book to her. And I think it was the right call.” -2017 Meduza

“In some senses, Theon is struggling all the way through to be a hero. They both come out of the same situation: they’re both raised in Winterfell by Eddard Stark, but they’re not part of the real, core family. Theon is a ward, and Jon Snow is a bastard son. So they’re both a little outside, but Jon handles this successfully, and Theon fails to handle this. He is poisoned by his own envy and his sense of not belonging.” -2017 Meduza

This quote brings the Season 7 scene with Jon and Theon to mind. Theon tells Jon that he always made the right decision, while Theon made the wrong decisions (choosing the Greyjoys over the Stark family that raised him). Jon will make the right decision.

“So many readers were reading the books with so much attention that they were throwing up some theories, and while some of those theories were amusing bulls— and creative, some of the theories are right. At least one or two readers had put together the extremely subtle and obscure clues that I’d planted in the books and came to the right solution." -The Telegraph, 2014

Extremely Subtle and obscure hints; George’s bittersweet ending will not be predictable. Only a few people have figured out the ending. If your predicted ending involves ultimate good (humans) vs ultimate evil (others), you already lost.

Humanity…  It’s not a state. It’s a… It’s a quality.

But Why Does No One Talk About Pining Shiro?

I have a bone to pick with the Sheith fandom. Everywhere in this fandom I see Keith freaking out about Shiro, which I will admit is completely canon. But you know what else is canon?

Shiro’s bias for Keith.

I know that it’s seems subtle, but it’s not at the same time. I rewatched Voltron Season 1 and 2 before Season 3 because I noticed that I didn’t pay a whole lot of attention to Shiro the first time around. A lot of his lines are pretty generic-leader-type, but during me rewatch, I noticed that his character cues weren’t. So, without further ado, here begins my long meta post about how Shiro is pining after Keith.
