I graduate high school in a week??? Crazy how fast time flies. Trying to savor every last moment of it (but first, gotta finish those senior finals!) Also, my “Now Playing” this week is going to be a few albums instead of the usual few songs because too much new music is being released all at once and Idon’thavefreakingtime to listen to all of it! SO I just provided the few albums I have actually had time to listen to haha-

Now Playing:

After Laughter- Paramore

Surf- Donnie Trumpet & The Social Experiment (not new but new for me)

How Sony deals with fandoms

I’ve been to an international in-house PR summit hosted by one of my clients this week and nearly fell off my chair when one of the guest speakers was a VERY important person from Sony Music Entertainment. Let’s call him John. I won’t disclose his function and real name because I don’t want to reveal where I was, but based on his title he definitely knows what he‘s saying and has a lot of industry experience.

His speech was mainly  about how to engage with a variety of different target audiences. Of bloody course one of the first slides he showed was a picture of 1D engaging with fans which was supposed to drive the point home that there are some audiences who are more passionate about a brand than others. He mentioned then that he’s worked with 1D on their albums which drove me into a bit of a freeze.

Because I’m embarrassing, I recorded parts of his speech on my phone and wrote the most important things down to share some interesting insights he gave about how Sony manages their artists’ target audiences, crafts their artists’ social media actions and deals with the fact that at the end of the day they always need to get people to buy music.

HOW DOES SONY UNDERSTAND AND MONITOR AUDIENCES (like fandoms for instance)?

According to John, they have their very own data-driven digital tool that helps them identify and manage different target groups for an artist (it’s not perfected yet but has been rolled out a lot of countries, I think he said 50?) and see where there might be connections to other artists, who the influencers are, what the specific target groups are or will be interested in and to identify collaboration opportunities.

Target groups are being split into four categories: Fanatics, enthusiasts, casuals, indifferents. These segments are being broken down into even smaller groups defined by age, genre preference, gender and country. They found that the older you get, the less likely you’ll be a fanatic or enthusiast.

How does Sony find this stuff out? Well, they survey polled music audiences of every age in a way that covers either nationally representatives or represent one of the major top tier cities. People shared their music preferences, consumption habits, lifestyle, media habits etc. Sony gathered all that information, analysed the insights and created their own audience understanding tool.

According to John, that way everyone at Sony has access to an interactive map of the world of Sony that looks into segmentations and audiences for every artist while being searchable in a number of different ways. The tool is pulling from real data, but they are also adding to that „with things like analytics of platforms like Spotify where we are able to gather lots of informations about user behaviours and reference that against things that we do“.

HOW SONY STRATEGICALLY SHAPES PR STORIES

John gave the example of Snoop Doggy Dog who had launched a new album (song? Idk) around that time: „There was a week-long debate in parliament around the legalization of Marihuana, so we just jumped on this conversation and did lots of social marketing around Snoop with his rolling papers and his spliffs… so maybe that’s bad taste, I’ll allow you to judge that for yourselves. The point is though that you are also marketing into a wider cultural context. [You need] an understanding how that works and where you can have a conversation that is seamless and not fake, genuineness is quite important.

“The way you can get people to connect is: You’ve got a lot of stuff that you want to say. Start under the assumption that people actually don’t give a shit about 95 percent of it. And then see which are the bits that might overlap. This is where the understanding of the audience really comes into its own. It forces us to think before we jump to execution. The quest for relevance is vitally important.”

Why are people to connect with a brand/band though? John thinks this is one of the most underused questions when planning an approach. Why is it that they do specific things? He gave an example: „We would normally take a record to radio because we always believe that radio is the thing that breaks the record. But if my core audience, my phase one audience – the people that are gonna give that band its first lift – are on Spotify, what am I doing on radio??“

ENGAGEMENT AROUND ARTIST IS KEY

„The thing is that you don’t start with a conversation around a product. The consumption of the product is the end point of a journey where you built an engagement and a fan. So again, for us that means that when we sit down and do our plan around our next Robbie Williams album, we start with „How are we gonna maximize the engagement around Robbie Williams“? because that will then sell us albums. Not „Okay, we’ll be releasing in a week in November, eight weeks out we need to be here, here and here“. So we’re not doing product launches anymore unless [it is suitable for the target demographic]. We have to built a tension and an engagement around an artist.“

ABOUT THEIR ARTISTS‘ SOCIAL MEDIA CHANNELS

„We run most of our artists social media channels or at least their official  pages, so we are involved in all of those conversations.“

Shocking, I know.

Based on the situation we face in this fandom, with this band, feel free to draw your own conclusions about what this information means.

HERE ARE MY KEY TAKEAWAYS:

1.       It’s not news at all, but the existence of their own audience understandig tool confirms it: the 1D fandom is being monitored, segmented and analyzed. Sony’s strategies are tightly tied to that fact. Collaborations or artist interactions such as Louis/James Arthur or One Direction/ Little Mix are most likely the result of a data-driven analysis of whose fan groups are similar and whose are likely to be open towards that particular other artist too.

2.       Again no news, but the example of Snoop Doggy Dog shows that there are strategies behind even the most random photos. Often placements of specific pictures or stories serve a wider purpose. Hello pap walks, hello b**ygate, hello Louis Twitter, hello Liam visibly being linked to L.A.‘s cool singer/songwriter crowd before his first album drop.

3.       The decision to not promote Louis‘ song could very well have been a logical outcome of the team asking themselves the question „Why?“: Why should we promote his song with huge effort when we KNOW his own fans are going to do it passionately, especially if they think  we don’t give a shit? Why not playing that game in order to make them promo it the hardest way they can?“ Why indeed??

4.       One Direction is a huge deal for Sony. John was talking about a lot of bands during his speech but whenever he was talking about major acts, he always listed One Direction amongst them (along with gems like Beyonce, David Bowie, Adele). He name-dropped them at least 5 -6 times in a 60 minute speech. He really didn’t have to because the audience was in no way whatsoever a target audience. So yes, they clearly have been and are a very huge deal for them.

5.       The part about social media? Well :))))))

Theory time.........

There was something about this whole narrative, that wasn’t adding up for me. I was having a hard time putting my finger on it, then Camila released that description about her album, and it started making more sense.

They want us to believe, this whole narrative took place in 2016, but when you remember back and realize, the 2016 narrative was just a revamped version of the 2015 narrative, it all begins to fall into place.

Everyone latched on to that July 4 2016 Brazil snap, of her alone, writing in a hotel bathroom, while the girls were out celebrating together, as the time she began writing “I have questions”. That’s exactly what Management hoped you’d do. If one paid attention though, you would see that the more important snap happened back in October 2016. She snapped a photo of her writing in a bathroom, with the caption ”destroyed”. First, July - October does not equal 6 months, no matter how crappy your math is. Second, the 7/27 tour was coming to an end, and with that caption, I actually think, that is when she finished writing “I have questions”.

The only tour date they had in early 2016, was Dubai. So, unless she started writing it in a Dubai potty, the rest of early 2016 was spent promoting WFH. She stated she started writing that song, “a little over a year ago” while on tour. I think her “a little over a year ago” means the last few months of 2015, September-November. That she eventually had to face her problems, and she finally went back to the lyrics she started from the year before, and finished the song, then wrote a sad song every day until she got sick of writing sad shit. That song seems to be a catalyst for her, and I’m thinking it probably  “destroyed” her to finally finish it.

Camila was asked recently, in an interview, when her anxiety showed itself and started becoming a real problem for her. Her answer was, 2015. Everything started in 2015. Her anxiety, the fucking narrative, the division, EVERYTHING!!

Notebook ideas!

  •  make a 2017 read list of all the books (even fanfics!) of what you have read this year. especially good if you are doing the 50 books a year challenge. add things like a sentence of what you thought, anything special, a quote and the date when you finished reading it.
  •  a notebook full of your favourite recipes, could be easy pot noodle or grandmas christmas dinner. now you have a place to save them all, and you will always know where to look for them!!
  • the collection notebook: are you one of those people that collects anything, stamps, stickers or cards? put them in an unused notebook.
  • plant notebook: write down the progress of your plants, their english and latin name, dates. add pictures! Neville Longbottom probably has one of these.
  • plant notebook 2.0: fill it with loads of plants you either have or want to have and write how they should be taken care of or what you would like to name them. sort of like a guide.
  • the standard: travel journal. although, since you are probably on the road, only write a few lines every day and put all that love effort in when you come home! photos, cards, stickers, flight and train tickests, pressed flowers, even the bill from that lovely restuarant is something you can put in.
  • quote book: especially handy if it is a small pocket notebook one. all those quotes you love, put em here!
  • future destinations, places you want to go to.
  •  the everyday notebook: everything for everyday. daily lists or weekly. things you want to do this month.
  • the job book: future ideas for your next summer/part time job, where to go and tips and tricks.
  • photo album: make use of all those pictures and save them somewhere. write names, where and the date, your future self will thank you.
  • the random lists book: include list like healthy habits you want to develop, dishes you want to try, vehicles you want to travel in, festivals you want to go to, books you want to read.
  • books to read: if you are a big reader like me, you will probably find the need of these book. every single book title that sounded interesting, all the books you think you might wnat to read someday, put them in this book! Hermione Granger has this.
  • a word a day book: after each and every day you write a word, could be about anyhting! a perfect bedside table notebook.
  • the notebook with only good, positive things that you enjoy. could be things like the rain falling when you are studying in a cozy library or laughing until your tummy hurts with your friends, the feeling of being invincible.
  • different language phrases: Wie heisst du? Jag heter Sara.
  • notebook for handwriting practise

To all of those who might need some insperation. This is usually not my thing, but give me your thoughts. Also, I am a huge fan of pretty notebooks, and I own quite a few.

What We Know About Purple

This is so long omg, sry.

Disclaimer: STOP TELLING PETE YOU HATE HIM AND/OR WANT TO FIGHT HIM. HE HAS STATED THAT IT MAKES HIM FEEL AWFUL AND UNEASY BECAUSE HE USED TO GET INTO FIGHTS AS A KID!!!

He just wanted to do something exciting for the fans, respect that!!!

1. The announcement was made on the 1 year anniversary of Prince’s death.

2. The announcement was made in movie theaters across Chicago.

3. The initial release date for whatever is happening was on 4-28-17, but was moved up to 4-27-17, which is Patrick’s birthday.

4. Pete has previously stated that “someday we need to make the purple one” in regards to fob’s previous albums on Instagram.

5. Fob filmed a music video around two weeks ago, which was stated by a fan in the area who witnessed filming.

6. Pete backed this up through his now-deleted-tweet that said something like “this week was 😑and the next is😎” around the same time of the music videos filming. (I don’t remember the actual wording of the tweet, but it was something like that).

7. This now makes sense that the video he was talking about was probably either an actual music video or the teaser released yesterday.

8. Purple is probably an album because of all these previous statements above and the many hints both Pete and fob have dropped.

9. This is also the start of a new era, which is defined by the gif of a purple wave that is now of fobs official website and their new twitter layout.

10. Pete has a string of tweets that have the emoji 🔮, which is purple, and sound like lyrics. (Documentation of these are on this site somewhere)

11. The album is probably titled something like “young mania” or “young maniac” because of Petes current twitter name which is “yng mnc” with purple emojis in between.

12. The teaser for the movie theaters was also in a purple color wave and started off with the words “Mania Entertainment”. This is a music production company.

13. Late last year and into this one there was some drama about fob maybe leaving island, their current label to our knowledge, so maybe this is their new label? This is backed up by some of Pete’s tweets during late 2016 and early 2017.

14. If this is new music, it is probably a mixture of previous fob music styles with something new. This is because all of their previous albums have been red or blue, which switch every album cycle and red and blue mix to make purple.

15. They have a show scheduled in Brazil in September of this year.

16. It has to do with the ocean because of the theater teaser and the wave gif on fobs site.

17. DCD2, Pete’s record label, has been tweeting more actively lately. Idk if this means anything, but it would also add more credibility to the whole “leaving island thing”.

18. Island Records hasn’t tweeted anything about the fob news to my knowledge, so maybe they really did leave the label?!!?

19. I’ve seen some speculation on this site that this is their last album. This is because all of the previous albums fall into either a blue or red theme in order (tttyg-blue, futct-red, ioh-blue, fad-red, greatest hits bnd-blue, srar-red, abap-blue). Purple breaks this cycle and thus may be their big finale. All the hype going on alludes to this as well.

(If this last point is true I will die)

And lastly, whatever this is, I can’t wait. It’s definitely something new and I want to be supportive in any way I can 😊!

Thanks to anyone who read through this long post. It means a lot.

If anyone else has more info feel free to add onto this post.

Next up in the Last Young Renegade track by track, Nightmares. I imagined a conversation with my childhood self, how revealing it might be, and what I might learn about my fears then vs. now. We outgrow many of our fears, but some never change, and I think that’s a very interesting piece of the human psyche, how we don’t always overcome, but learn to do a better job of filing away. For so many years I had been carrying around unwanted baggage. I’d been doing such a good job of pushing things off to one side, rather than dealing with them head on, that all these issues would pile up and become overbearing. This song is a culmination of those emotions coming to a head, and I think it really helped me to visualize some of the skeletons in my closet that I needed to let go for good. Melodically I wanted to be adventurous, go to unexpected places from verse to pre-chorus, and pre-chorus to chorus… This song is always teetering on the edge of it’s next part, and I think that somewhat anxious, anticipatory movement goes hand in hand with the theme of the lyrics.

Get the album at smarturl.it/atllyr and keep an eye out for the next part of the track by track.

Support Older Girl Groups Pt. 1: f(x)

This week on Support Older Girl Groups we are supporting f(x). If you want to know why you should participate even if this week isn’t about a group you stan, check out this post

So what this is is sort of a masterpost of ways to support the group of the week. And since it’s my favorite group and people have been taking about their status as a group a lot lately, I thought a logical place to start would be f(x).

This is far from everything f(x) has released, I just chose a few for each category so it would be easier to get the view up in a noticeable way. If you can’t put your effort into everything on this list, put your effort into 4 Walls, Free Somebody, All Mine, and On My Own.

About the group

F(x) is an SM girl group that debuted in 2009. They were originally considered Asia’s Dance Group by SM.The members are Victoria, Amber, Luna and Krystal. Sulli also used to be part of the group. If you are looking for some different concepts, f(x) is definitely for you! They have done so many different concepts. I think you will notice their individuality as a group immediately!

Title tracks

4 Walls was their last music video and album to be released. It was released in 2015, so quite a while ago. It’s currently at 27,161,327 views, but deserves way more. Let’s get it to 30mil!

Red Light came out in 2014 and was their last music video and album with Sulli. It currently has 36,027,739 views, so it’s close to 40mil! it would be really awesome to get it to 50 mil sooner rather than later too.

Rum Pum Pum Pum is pretty close to 50 mil, and it would be really great for them it! It currently has 46,309,778 views.

Stations

All Mine was the last music video f(x) has released. it was released in July of 2016 and currently has 8,411,608 views. Let’s get it to 10mil! This is a really special music video and song because it had been so long since f(x) had any activities together, and it has been a long time since, Also the music video was directed by Amber! I would be really great if this music video in particular had a big spike in views!

Heartbeat is an amazing and sweet song by Amber and Luna. It’s honestly such a great song and Amber and Luna make such a could unit (they really should be a subunit.) But the music video is still yet to reach 1mil views! It’s currently at 901,491 views. That’s not that bad for a Station song but Heartbeat and the group deserve so much more. Let’s get it to 1mil and then much farther from there!

Borders is an Amber solo that she wrote and is very special to her. Honestly I cried to first time I heard it, it’s just too dang relatable lmao. Another thing that you might like is it is in English, and it has subtitles in both Korean and English. It currently has 5,221,617 views, which is actually pretty good for a Station song. But Amber has really been having hard times with her solo work an SM, so a spike in the views could really help.

Solos

Free Somebody is Luna’s solo debut from May 2016. It’s such a great song that shows off both her beautiful voice and dance skills. Sadly it was not promoted well and got overshadowed by other SM comebacks, so it didn’t do nearly as well as it should. It currently has 8,154,679 views. Let’s get it to 10mil!

On My Own was part of Amber’s Crossing series that she was making on her own Youtube Channel. Sadly, Crossing was never finished. We are not sure what happened to it, but based off of her cryptic Instagram posts (still the last two she posted if you want to go read them), it doesn’t sound like it was good. On My Own is a really important song to support for the same reason as Borders. It’s currenly at 1,040,418 views. Let’s get it to 2mil! and then maybe even 5mil!

I Don’t Want to Love You was not exactly a solo, but a collaboration between Krystal and June One Kim. It’s also not under SM and it’s not in Korean so it wasn’t that popular. But watching it will still help support f(x)! Also, it’s a really interesting and different song. The music video is actually a little spooky (also the intro kinda drags on) But still please support it becasue it’s a good song! It currently has 453,638 views. Let’s get it to 1mil!

Other Stuff to Check Out

Luna’s Alphabet is a vlog series on Youtube that Luna has been making, and it’s getting a season 3 soon! The videos usually range from around 5 to 15 mins long. And don’t worry, there are English subtitles!

Amber’s channel is where she posted her Crossing songs. There are only 4 videos but it wouldn’t hurt to subscribe anyway!

What The Pineapple was Amber’s Youtube channel for basiclly anything else she wanted to post. There are lots of funny things on it you should really check it out! Also it is primarily in English but there are Korean subtitles. Sadly it has been a long time since she last posted to it, but maybe if the views spike she will bring it back, or get to start something like Luna’s Alphabet.

Ending Notes

Please reblog this and share this as much as possible! This project will do no real good unless it is a group effort. And please watch the videos as much as possible! It would do the most good if you guys watched each one (or at least the title tracks) multiple times a day this week (and weeks to come.) I’m not expecting you to take the time to watch all of Luna’s Alphabet or What the Pineapple, but if you could watch all the music videos that would really help not only f(x), but all older girl groups! If you want people to put the effort to help out your favorite older girl groups, help out other people’s faves too! Remember, next week’s post could be your favorite group!

Also remember!

Listen to all of these songs on Spotify

Buy them and or the albums if you can

Look out for Victoria’s solo album coming out soon

follow them all on social media

When did it become OK to be a dick to Taylor Swift?

She has every right to be proud of her achievements

by David Farrell 3 days ago 209 Views

~~

It’s cool to hate Taylor Swift.

If you were to believe what people say about Taylor Swift you would think she is nothing less than an evil mastermind bent on world destruction when, in fact, she is simply a musician whose work has been justifiably recognised for its more than considerable merit.

You may say that people hate on Taylor because Kim Kardashian exposed her as a snake, but in reality this was just the final straw. The tide has started to turn against Taylor well before that. The hate she received and is still receiving for winning the Grammy for Album of the Year in 2015 (which was completely beyond her control by the way) is a perfect example of that.

The fact is that people loathe to celebrate successful people, especially women. When it seems like someone is getting popular, they are immediately seen as too big for their boots and the criticism starts rolling in. They are the real snakes, not Taylor.

A perfect example of this is this article from BuzzFeed which accuses Taylor of making her entire career off playing the victim. BuzzFeed have previously been very supportive of Taylor, publishing articles like “21 Times Taylor Swift Proved She Has A Heart Of Gold”, “17 Reasons Why Taylor Swift Couldn’t Possibly Top “1989”. If you’re going to be critical, then please show a consistent line.

The truth is that now that it’s in vogue to hate on Taylor, publications like BuzzFeed have readily jumped on the bandwagon. Penning a 20-page long essay about how much you despise someone is tantamount to creating a ‘Mean Girls’-esque burn book. Not only is this playground behaviour, but also a colossal waste of everyone’s time. The whole article is redundant because by engaging in a personal attack upon Taylor’s character it ends up doing very thing it claims Taylor Swift has based her whole career on – turning her into a victim.

The disturbingly ruthless character assassination of Taylor has come about in an age when America is rebelling against the traditional girl next door. This once practically untouchable archetype has now been thrown out of the window in favour of celebrating diversity, which is undoubtedly fantastic for society. What we must be careful of, however, is to not go too far the other way in order to achieve this goal of equality.

How can the persecution of what Taylor stands for – the girl next door – belong in the diverse accepting society we want to create? This is a society where there is room for the gay kid, the black kid and the girl next door to sit at the same table, rather than one where the girl next door is left out to justify the years she enjoyed the spotlight over others. That’s called reverse discrimination, which benefits nobody. What we need to strive towards is equal spotlight, equal recognition.

There now exists a paradox whereby white artists like Taylor Swift, Justin Bieber and Ariana Grande, who all received Grammy nominations this year, are still clearly favoured by established institutions such as The Grammys, as evidenced by the events of last Sunday, but their work is unfairly dismissed by the masses as redundant fluff.

Taylor Swift winning Album of the Year angered a lot of people and whether or not it was the right decision it was the decision which was made and Taylor has every right to be proud of her achievement. After all, this was the moment she had worked for since she was 15. The culmination of the fruits of her labour. The fulfilment of her dreams. To rob anyone of that satisfaction is bullying no matter what the reason.

The fact is that ‘1989’ was, in fact, one of the best albums in recent memory, you can check out this BuzzFeed article for all the reasons why. You don’t need to carry a political message in order to be a bloody fantastic album. Taylor’s mastery lies in reinvention and pitch perfect PR campaigns. And newsflash, every single artist manipulates the media – Beyonce herself is just as shrewd a businesswoman and people adore her. It’s a fickle business.

The matter is one of respect. Artists, generally speaking, are much better at showing respect for one another, which is important considering that we lived in an era when pop is looked down upon as a lesser art. Taylor Swift had already declared herself a fan of Kendrick Lamar when she asked him to feature on her song ‘Bad Blood’. If Lamar did not respect Taylor’s work he would have declined, which begs the questions as to why the general public is so damning of Taylor on behalf of Lamar when the artist himself publicly has already declared his respect for her work.

Taylor Swift is an intelligent, strong woman who has managed to create a successful career for herself out of nothing and that is purely based on talent, not playing the victim. Do you think people who buy her albums if they carried the same message, but without her level of musical mastery? Absolutely not. Does society need to change to recognise more diverse talent – of course, but don’t blame Taylor Swift for a problem that should be equally shouldered by all of us.

People gassed Remy Ma’s head up to the point where she thought she could end Nicki’s career by making another diss track and y'all were gonna love it, but that shit backfired on her ass. I told people not gas her up she is doing the same shit that Lil Kim did (making several disses and doing interviews only to talk about Nicki and not the music) she’s pissed off that Nicki’s not responding? So the fuck what get over it. Now Remy looking stupid out here doing diss tracks when nobody is responding to her dumb ass.

Should’ve used the momentum off the first diss track to put some music out that had nothing to do with Nicki Minaj, but this jail bird wanted to waste it on that trash ass 2nd diss and now she taking the “L” instead of the “W” she wasn’t smart enough to capitalize off it when she had the chance.

Meanwhile Nicki in Paris for Fashion Week and is in the studio preparing for her next album whilst Remy will be stuck in the tri-state area cause of her probation begging Nicki to respond, the bitch has too much time on her hands, she needs to stick to Love & Hip Hop if she wants beef with anyone who will allow it. Also I’m telling you guys right now if Nicki responds it’s going to be on her album where’s she gonna make people purchase it (ex: Roman Revenge x lil Kim diss) it won’t be free that’s for damn sure.

This whole beef is not even about rap anymore this shit comes down to one thing jealousy, she’s jealous that Nicki set the bar high as fuck for a female rapper (she internationally known because she crossover to pop, broke records on billboard, and she’s the highest best selling female rapper to date something these other females rappers can’t grasp) bitches hating cause she did something they couldn’t do. While they’re catching charges and going to prison for x amount years over shooting somebody or not snitching on someone, she’s catching Grammy nominations, triple platinum albums, Billboard charting success. Remy wants what Nicki has and it’s not going in her favor at this point she’s been out three years from jail and has not done a single thing but be on LHH make a flop album with Fat Joe. She hasn’t release anything by herself and when she does it’s about Nicki now it’s not about Remy no more it’s about NICKI MINAJ cause that’s all she’s good for now is Nicki beef drama and all these radio and talk show hosts are gonna use her for their ratings while she’s sitting looking stupid on Wendy Williams couch talking about another woman who doesn’t care about her life or career at the end of the day.

He picked up your phone to see that you were playing the Wings album on repeat, having his song in particular playing over and over. He smiled and moved your hair out of your face and placed a small kiss on your lips. He remembered you telling him at one point that you listen to his music when you felt sad or alone which made him a bit upset but he understood.

“I’m here now darling. No need to feel alone.”

Suga: You had gone down to the studio to spend some time with Suga since you knew he wasn’t going to be home very much for the next little while. You laid down on the couch they had in the studio and closed your eyes and fell asleep listening to Suga practice some of his new lines. Namjoon nudged Suga and pointed over in your direction. Suga smiled and went over and placed a sweatshirt over your body. He leaned down and kissed your forehead and walked back over to Namjoon.

“She falls asleep to my voice almost every night. I kind of expected this to happen.”

Jin: You and Jin were enjoying your time together, just watching a movie while laying in bed when you looked up and admired his face. He smiled and looked back down at you. “What?” he would asked only to have you shake your head. You looked back to the tv then back at him again. “Y/n what?” You shook your head again this time Jin lifted your chin so you were looking at him once more. “What is it y/n? I know you want to ask me something.” You let out a deep sigh and finally replied, “Can you sing me to sleep? Please?” His smile would grow and he would lean down and kiss your nose.

“Always, my love.”

J-Hope: Jhope was out with his friends, just enjoying his time out with his guy friends when you decided to check up on him. “I’ll be back pretty late, what’s up?” He would text back. You didn’t want to tell him you couldn’t sleep but you did anyways. “I can’t sleep..” “Do I need to come home?” You didn’t want to say yes but in the end, you just wanted to fall asleep to his voice. “Too late I’m coming home.” He came home about twenty minutes later, crawling into bed behind you and wrapping you in his arms. “Sing to me?” You asked.

“You’re so cute. Of course.”

Taehyung: You had recently watched an old movie with Taehyung, causing him to fall in love with the music in the movie. He had taken the time to download and listen to the whole album of the movie, singing it almost all the time. He was in the kitchen, doing the dishes when you heard him seeing “Fly Me To The Moon” by Frank Sinatra. “Tae?” You would call out. He would stop singing, lifting his head up from the dishes. “Hmm?” “Nothing. I just really like that song.” He smiled and and began singing it again until he noticed that you had fallen asleep. You usually fall asleep with headphones in so when he went over to help you to your bed, he noticed your sleep playlist was filled with songs he sang and even his own songs.

“My girl, falling asleep to my voice. That’s so CUTE!”

Jimin: Jimin had spent the week at home with you while he was on his break. Every night, he would sing you to sleep, letting you lay in his arms has you two cuddled together. The time had come for him to leave again so he could go back on tour. You two hadn’t said anything but you knew both knew it was going to be hard. Jimin had disappeared for a couple of hour the night before he had to leave. When he come home, he knocked on the door to have you open it to him holding a huge teddy bear and a small basket. He sat down the bear and handed you a CD with the words ‘sing me to sleep’ on it.

“I got you this bear that I sprayed with my cologne and this CD is something I made so that you can fall asleep to my voice every night. Kind of like I never left and before you know it, I’ll be home.”

Jungkook: Jungkook kind of knew that you liked to fall asleep to him singing over even talking. He started to catch on when you’d cuddle up to him when he was talking on the phone with someone or practicing his vocals. Finally, he had just come out and told you that he knew you did it. Your face would go bright red but continued to pull out your phone to show him your playlist of his covers that he did throughout the year. “I really can’t sleep without hearing your voice.” He would pull you into his arms and kiss the top of your head.

“Honestly, I just fell ten times more in love with you and your cute face.”

Matty’s Interview with The Sunday Times Style

I wish I had a teenage daughter. Why? Because here I am with Matt Healy, the frontman of the 1975, who has just offered to take his shirt off in order to give me a tattoo tour. There’s the one dedicated to his nana; his mum, Denise “Loose Women” Welch, is on his foot; his dad, Tim “Auf Wiedersehen, Pet” Healy, is on his arm; and his brother, Louis, on the back of a calf; there’s the one dedicated to William Burroughs, the author of his favourite ever book, Queer; then there’s the one on the inside of his left wrist… of his passport number. “I got bored of being constantly woken up by a woman offering me a landing card while my tour manager, who always carries my passport, is conked out somewhere behind me. I thought it would be useful. It’s really all I need on a plane.

Welcome to the world of the 1975, whose second album, I Like It When You Sleep, for You Are So Beautiful yet So Unaware of It (yes, really), went straight to No 1 in both America and the UK last year, and who won the best band award at the Brits in February. They have just announced that their third album, Music for Cars, will be out next year, and when we meet they are about to go on tour, kicking off in Mexico and ending in July at Latitude Festival in Suffolk, where they will headline alongside Fleet Foxes and Mumford & Sons. If you’re not familiar with their music — think Pete Doherty mixed with One Direction, maybe — it’s probably because, like me, you’re too old. That said, Mick Jagger, whom the band supported when the Stones played Hyde Park in 2013, is a huge fan — so fond of their hit single Chocolate, he has been known to put it on after dinner for guests.

Yeah, I remember that gig,” says the 28-year-old Healy, with a faint Northern accent. “It was before I had my eyes lasered and I wasn’t wearing my glasses. Pointless. There were 50,000 people there and I could only see about four of them, but out of the corner of my eye I could just make out this gyrating figure and it was Jagger dancing to Chocolate. Mick Jagger — can you f****** believe it?

Kiwi: Part Three

A mini-series based in Jamaica during the writing/recording of Harry’s new album. Enjoy. x

Kiwi: Part One // Kiwi: Part Two

“Where are yeh taking me?”

Harry’s voice called out to her as she led him uphill through the forest, the humidity of the Jamaican air causing the material of her shirt to cling to her back. She turned around to look at Harry as he scaled up behind her, his blue muscle shirt showing off the inked skin of his arms. She flashed a grin, reaching a hand out to him as she spoke.

“It’s a secret, Kiwi. That means I can’t tell ya,” she laughed a little, and he reached out to take her hand in his. She gave him a tug and pulled him up to her level, smiling at his dimpled grin. She released his hand and turned to continue walking uphill, grabbing onto the straps of her bag. “It’s one of my favorite places here. Found it a little after I moved to this side of the island, and I usually come here on my free days.”

“How long’ve yeh been here fo’?” He asked, running a hand through his unruly locks that had yet to be tamed by the heat.

“About a month and a half now,” she answered. She waited for him to catch up and take the few steps he needed to before she started to walk again. “How about you? What’s a superstar like you doing here?”

“Been here for about a week now working on the next album,” he explained.

“What made you want to come here?” She asked.

“It’s a peaceful place,” he answered, reaching to brush a stray lock of hair out of his face. “The past few albums I’ve made with the boys have mostly been recorded on the go—in hotel rooms or between a handful of different cities. I loved it an’ I wouldn’t give the memories away for the world, but I wanted something different this time ‘round.”

“Makes sense,” she said, glancing at him over her shoulder with a smile on her face. “Almost there.”

Harry followed her to the edge of what looked like a small cliff. He took a few steps towards the edge and looked over at the pool of water at the bottom of what could have easily been a hundred foot drop. He then watched as she set her backpack down on the ground and began removing her t-shirt, revealing the white bikini top underneath.
