this is what happens when i bring my laptop to school

Some of these will not apply to many people so pls take them with a grain of salt. Also I’ve been collecting these pretty much for the two years I’ve been in college so it’s not a guide, they’re just… random I guess.

Making friends

Warning - specially tailored for super shy people aka me

  • There’s a thing called the ‘first week window of endless oportunities’. It’s when groups are still forming and everyone’s desperate to make friends. This is the time to put your best self forward (I’m not saying be fake, just a little extra friendly).
  • Leave. Your. Door. Open. Do it. Even if you have a roommate. Best way to make friends the first week.
  • Actually get out of your room. You’re not going to meet many people if you hole up in your room. If you have a tv room or people are watching a movie, I don’t care if you’re not interested in what they’re watching, go.
  • If you have the balls to go to the room nextdoor and introduce yourself then you probably can skip this section by all means do it!
  • But if you don’t, going from door to door asking for help with your laundry takes a lot less courage + you will learn how to do laundry. Asking to borrow something (pencil, hair tie, hair dryer) also works.
  • If you’re staying at a residence hall, ask to sit with people at lunch! Nobody is going to say no, i promise.
  • Similarly if you see someone alone, ask them to have lunch with you!
  • Also if you meet someone you get along with, as soon as you can, ask for their number ‘so you can go to the dinning hall together’.
  • Remember people’s names - it makes people feel like you actually care about them. I know it’s hard but make an effort. Also it just gets annoying when someone asks about your name for the fourth time. Use mnemonics if you have to.
  • Asking what someone’s major is and where they’re from is standard procedure when you meet them but it doesn’t make for an interesting conversation. Think of other questions!
  • Make sure to arrive about 10 min early to your classes. There’ll be very few people and so it’ll be easier to strike up a conversation (actually people will probably talk to you without you having to say anything which is g r e a t)
  • Say yes - as a rule of thumb, your social life should prevail over your academic life the first two weeks. This is the time where you’re not really pressed for time. Say yes to watching movies, say yes to going to lunch, say yes to going to campus events (and even to parties). Obviously don’t do anything that makes you really unconfortable but do try to step out of your comfort zone
  • Make friends with an upper-classman from your same major. Or at least be on speaking terms. Talk to them on Facebook, ask them about your major, just use any random idc excuse to introduce yourself, it doesn’t really matter how you do it.
  • Don’t go home every weekend, even if you live close by. You’ll miss out on the best of campus life and some of the most fun memories with your new friends.

Keeping your old friends

  • If you know you’re going home for the weekend, try to finish most of your assignments/studying and make time to hang out with your friends. Spending time with them is the best way to keep those friendships alive.
  • But! Don’t worry too much if you can’t come home or make time for your friends too often, you just have to make an effort to text them regularly. It will come naturally if it’s your best friend, but don’t forget to set a reminder to text other close friends at least once every two weeks.
  • You may think you don’t care now but you will once you come home for the summer.
  • If any of your friends are staying in your hometown for college, be ready for them to get another friend group. That doesn’t mean they’ve forgotten about you, but don’t be mad if they seem to have a lot more plans that don’t involve you. You can always ask to tag along some time and maybe even become friends with these people!
  • Some people you’ll just lose contact with. Don’t fret it.

Organization

  • Please print out or buy a calendar that has a whole page for each month. With boxes preferably *shameless plug*. You may think you have it all under control but there’s nothing like being able to see all your due dates, hang out plans and laundry days at a glance. (Also js but the pilot frixion are perfect to use on calendars because they’re erasable).
  • There’s so much space under your bed. UTILIZE IT.

Jughead had been typing away on his laptop for hours now. Groaning in pain as your back slammed against the gym mat for the thirteenth time that hour, you steadied your movements to a gradual stop as you tried to catch your breath, admitting defeat and throwing your hands up to surrender, the burning sensation in your ribs growing impossibly hotter. Jackson stood above you, looking down at your body with an amused grin as you almost cried in agony. Again. This was your fifth self defence lesson and yet there you were, laying on the ground begging him to stop. Again.

“You know the whole fucking idea of self defence if that you’re supposed to defend yourself from the attacker, right?” He kicked his head back as he laughed at your struggle with no guilt or consideration lingering beneath mocking tone.

He was right. You’d never felt so weak before, so vulnerable and pathetic as your bruised body barely managed to get to it’s feet so you could look him in the eye.
“You’re not teaching me anything! You’re just hitting me!” You protested as you limped away from him to grab a well deserved drink of water. Bending down to get inside your gym bag was the very definition of pain, your body felt like you’d been hit by a truck and battled with a shark in the same day.

“Rule number two; always be on guard. You’re expecting me to tell you my every fucking move, my training isn’t about that. It’s about heightening your senses, knowing your surroundings, spotting your attackers weaknesses before it’s too late…” He spoke calmly as he quietly walked up behind you, earning you to turn around and catch his fist before it could strike your ribcage.
“Well would you look at that? You actually learned something. See; I don’t just hit you for the sake of hitting you.” Jackson smirked, effortlessly tearing his hand from your tight grip.

“What’s rule number one?” You frowned as you crossed your arms, trying your absolute best to conceal the proud smile threatening to spill over your lips. It was the first time since beginning training that you really felt like you could do this, that you could really take care of yourself without having somebody else save you.

“Never fall in love.” He stated nonchalantly, pulling you from your thoughts whilst patting his sweat-beaded forehead with a white hand towel, signalling the end of the session.

RIP To My Youth

Pairing: Jughead x Reader

Description: Jug and the reader have been best friends since they were kids, but lately, things have changed, Riverdale has changed, Jug has changed and Y/N thinks maybe it’s time she changed too.

Part 2https://thatsadbreakfastclub.tumblr.com/post/158505761114/rip-to-my-youth-pt-2

It was getting to the point where I was having internal battles with myself every night. ‘Y/N he’s working on the novel and the newspaper, of course, it’s going to be harder for him to spend time with you’ versus ‘he’s moved on, he’s closer with Betty now, he and Archie are closer too, you’ve lost him, you’re irrelevant’. These were the thoughts that had been consuming my brain for the past couple of weeks. Jug was my best friend, right? Maybe I should text him? Maybe not. I started playing with my pale grey cap, my nervous tick of sorts. Jug could always tell when I was nervous because I would fiddle with the cap “Y/N” he’d say “spill it, you can’t hide anything from me, I can read you like an open book”. Thinking about this little memory was bittersweet. How can someone who’s practically by your side every day suddenly just have no real interest in talking to you? Ever since the murder of Jason Blossom, it really feels like everything in Riverdale has changed.

I glanced at my clock perched on my bedside table, 7:45 pm sigh. Maybe doing some homework will take my mind off all this bullshit, who’s idea was it to put me in advanced algebra anyway? Oh, that’s right my father, who I really wish was here right now and not away on some business trip. Tonight would have to be a lonely one. That’s when I remembered I had Jug’s math textbook, there it was sitting on my desk. I flipped it open and sure enough on the bottom left-hand corner was a small ‘property of Jughead Jones’. Perfect I could use this as an excuse to text him.

Hey Jug, I forgot I had your math textbook? Want me to come drop it over? The two-hour wait to get a reply just built up more and more anger inside of me Hey Y/N, I’m working on an article with Betty right now, could you drop it off to me in the newsroom in free period tomorrow? This was it, this was fucking it, oh I would take his textbook to him tomorrow and I would also confront him about this whole thing, that’s what I’d do straight up ask him why I was suddenly dead weight, I’ve had his guys back for so many years and now I’m just nothing, I won’t have it. Will do I sent back, cool calm and collected and then I was going to give him a piece of my mind tomorrow.

Getting ready for school was never a difficult task for me, I pretty much did the same thing everyday. My Y/H/C was tied into a ponytail with the front strands falling onto my face framing it. I put on my classic ripped boyfriend jeans and a black t-shirt, accompanied by my army jacket. To finish off my classic look I added my signature grey cap and put on my favourite dark grey lipstick. I wasn’t the girliest of girls, that was for sure, but everyone seemed to identify me by my style and in this I found comfort. After giving myself the once over in the mirror I grabbed Jug’s textbook from my desk, shoving it into my bag and I set off for school.

The day dragged on and on, I had a tonne of classes with Kevin and Ronnie today so it was nice to hang out with them for a change. This was of course until Kevin pulled the “I haven’t seen you and Jughead together in a while, what happened you two are usually joined at the hip?” line “You guys are my otp, I hope there’s no trouble in paradise” Veronica added. “Ronnie we’re not dating, why does everyone always think that and honestly, I don’t know, I guess he’s been too busy with this whole novel and newspaper thing to remember me as well” I replied giving my best interpretation of a fake smile. Veronica and Kevin gave me sympathetic looks.

As the bell rang, signaling our release I was packing my things together when Veronica grabbed my arm. “Y/N you need to tell Jug how you feel, I don’t know if you’ve even admitted it to yourself yet but it’s pretty obvious you’re in love with him, I can see how much not seeing him is hurting you and I think it’s best if you face this head on” I was so taken aback by this, I mean for years I’ve always had people ask if Jug and I were dating but no one had been this blatant with me. Was she right?, No he’s my best friend, I couldn’t be in love with him no way. I let out an awkward laugh “I don’t love Jughead, we’re just friends” It came out so defensive that Veronica raised both her eyebrows and folded her arms “the fact that you’re being so defensive about this just further proves my point” She said in a sing-song voice. “I gotta go Ronnie” I replied standing up from my seat and walking out the classroom “I only say this cause’ I care” she yelled after me.

Making my way towards the newsroom, I’d never felt so nervous in my life, like get a grip girlie it was just your friend, surely this whole not speaking to me thing was just, not even a big deal and I was hyping it all up. I was still going to have a go at him though because he was angry when Archie ditched him and now he’s okay with doing it to me? Not on my watch.

I had the math book in my hand as I was walking up to the door of the newsroom, I had my best ‘pissed off face’ going on I was ready.

I had my hand almost on the doorknob when I took a quick glance through the doors glass window. That was when my stomach fell, my jaw dropped and my heart involuntarily shattered. It was just a glimpse that’s all I could allow myself to watch, but inside that dusty old newsroom was one Jughead Jones kissing Elizabeth Cooper. The feelings hit me like a truck, and then everything went numb.

I didn’t know what to do so without giving any sign I was there I dropped the math book and ran, I ran out of the school I ran past pops and all the way home. By this time the tears were free falling, I couldn’t stop it and I didn’t care. Once I was in the safety of being inside my house with the door locked I gave in to my emotions and just slid down to the floor.

Wow, I felt so stupid and so naive, why didn’t I see this coming, it all made perfect sense now. I guess this was me also coming to terms with the fact that as usual Ronnie was right, I was painfully in love with Jug and now I was too late to ever do anything about it.

The more I sat there and thought about it the more I came to realise that this was my fault. I held Jug up to this crazy high standard and just assumed it would always be him and me at the end of the day. I had sacrificed so much to hang out with him, to keep my “image”, I avoided making too many other friends, I avoided parties, extracurricular activities you name it I wasn’t a part of it. Now it was all going to change, it had to change. Maybe this was the wake-up call I needed. I had to work on myself, be better, be stronger. Most of all this needed to happen because this meant I could quite literally not be around Jughead anymore, I think seeing or talking to him would make me cry, something the new me will NOT be doing.

I picked myself up off the floor and headed to the bathroom to wash my face. “Get a grip Y/N, ” I told myself staring into the mirror. It’s like as soon as I come to terms with the feelings I think I may have had for years, I have to immediately try to get rid of them. I think this was a coping mechanism for me, and I think the reason I’ve never let myself admit that I had feelings for him before was because I fear rejection so much so very much, and I had to do what I knew would keep him around and that was to continue to be his friend. Well, little girl it’s time to grow up.

And what’s the best way to look more mature and confident, change your style. From what I’ve witnessed from the media, what you wear can have a profound impact on how people view you. This is what I had to do first, get rid of the “old me” look. This meant bye grey cap, bye dark lipstick ( I mean what was I even trying to do with that? Look like a corpse?) (oh wow corpse jokes really funny, maybe a bit too real in light of recent circumstances.) And also a very big goodbye to my jeans and army jacket, that would have to go too.

Looking through my closet it was apparent I didn’t have much to work with, I would definitely have to go shopping this weekend, I’ll bring Ronnie and Kevin along, they know fashion and are probably more than willing to help me out. AH HUH eureka! The dress I’ve been looking for! About two months ago I bought this really nice burgundy skater dress that I was planning to wear on a summer trip away, but when that got cancelled I never really had an excuse to wear it, until now. It showed a lot of leg, which I was surprisingly pretty comfortable with. The thought of people seeing me in this tomorrow made me feel a mixture of excitement and nausea.

The next thing that would change was the hair; no more would it be hidden by a cap and just randomly pulled back behind my face. I would wear it down and give it a curl. I think that would give me a nice elegant edge. God, I really don’t think anyone’s even going to recognise me tomorrow, kinda funny really. The next thing I had to do was go on to the school website and look for an extracurricular I would be willing to do. Hopefully, this would be a good way to make new friends and keep me busy.

I went and grabbed my laptop from my desk, as I did this I heard my phone vibrate, which meant I had a message. The name that made the screen light up made my heart skip a few beats, it was from Jug Hey, I just found my math book outside the newsroom? Why did you leave it there and not come inside? SIGH, reading that was like a knife to my chest, I immediately deleted the message, this may be immature but I needed time, I can’t bring myself to talk to him and if he can do it to me I can sure as hell do it to him.

Shaking those thoughts away I was brought back to the task at hand. Logging onto the schools web page I found the list of extracurricular activities going on at Riverdale high. Chess club? Pass. Girl’s soccer? Hard pass.  Mathletes? No way in hell. Come on there has to be something here. After fifteen minutes of looking to no avail I scrolled past the extracurricular activities. Eventually I saw an ad posted by the she-devil herself Cheryl Blossom, apparently, one of the river vixens had broken her ankle and a new vixen was needed immediately, auditions were tomorrow after school. Hmm, could I do this? Maybe I could? The old me would never dream of being a cheerleader but the new me, maybe she could. You know what, fuck it. It was decided, I caught myself slightly smiling as I clicked ‘attend’ on the event. It felt like a breath of fresh air, tomorrow I would walk into school confident and new. I was going to cure my own broken heart. I just hoped a run in with Jughead wouldn’t make it all come crashing down.

On History and Pie

Summary:  A nonathletic!Jack fic, where grad student and history nerd, Jack Zimmermann meets the cute Samwell student/baker Eric Bittle at the Bread and Butter Bakery.  Will the two make a love connection?  For @devereauxsdisease and @victorineb who love this incarnation of Jack as much as I do.

They’d chatted at the bakery enough times that Bitty was able to pull the information from Jack. He’d started coming to the bakery about four weeks ago, and during that time Bitty became more and more charmed with the second year grad student.

He always sat in the corner armchair, ordered a black coffee, two macarons and a slice of whatever the pie of the day was. Bitty first noticed him when he came in to order a slice of Weary Willie cake.

Bitty loved his job at the bakery, it gave him some extra cash while he attended Samwell. Whenever Bitty was there, he was the de facto person in charge. Shirley and Spencer, the owners of Bread and Butter adored Bitty.

“We never had any kids of our own, so you’re the closest thing to it, Bitty,” Shirley said to him one evening over a cup of earl grey tea.

So Bitty stood there, face to face with the bluest eyes he’d ever seen the first time Jack walked in. The Clark Kent glasses in front of them did nothing to hide the fact that they were beautiful. It was a good face, a handsome face. He was burly and tall, and Bitty loved that. He smiled, and Bitty’s body language invited Blue Eyes to speak.

“Can I get a slice of the Weary Willie cake?”

“Sure can, handsome,” Bitty said as he began to ring up Blue Eyes’ order, who blushed furiously. “What else can I do you for?”

“Coffee. Black. Medium, please,” he replied looking down at the counter.

“Why don’t you go find yourself a seat and I’ll bring it out to you,” Bitty said with a warm smile.

“Thank you,” Blue Eyes said softly and then turned to walk toward the corner armchair.

When Bitty approached, Blue Eyes had pulled out a laptop and several textbooks, the one on top of the pile was called Foundations of Modern European Intellectual History.

“Doing a little light reading, huh?” Bitty said as he put the cake and coffee on the side table.

“Oh, haha. Yes.”

“Do you go to Samwell?”

“I’m finishing up my masters in history there,” he said as he held up his book.

“That’s great. I haven’t seen you here before,” Bitty said wanting to know more about History Blue Eyes.

“I saw the chalkboard outside listing the Weary Willie cake and the history nerd in me became curious.”

“Look at you! You certainly are a history major.”

“Did you make the cake?” Jack asked raising his eyebrows.

“Sure did. My moomaw had the recipe from her mama.”

“Well, it’s not often I find a somewhat obscure historical reference on my way back to the history building.”

He stared at you, carefully studying your face. “Uh, Y/N? Did you hit your head on something? Are you okay? Did you drink too much? You do realize that I’m Bucky, right?”

Riverdale high school. First class in the morning.

The students start to fill the classrooms. Some of them are sleepy, as if they still were on their beds. Some others were ready to keep learning another day more and the rest just hated to be there.

You couldn’t be put in none of the groups mentioned before. You were just there. Ready for the classes? Of course. Eager for them? Not that much, at least usually. First class on Mondays were always an exception. Your favorite subject; psychology.

You were sitting in the placed you always used to occupy since the very first day without a partner by your side. Not that you didn’t have friends at all, you just knew how to enjoy loneliness most of the times.

A/N: sorry I’ve left you waiting for so long but part two is finally here!

Series: Part 1 Part 2 Part 3 Part 4

You ran inside your old house, it felt strange to be home. But that’s where this place was… Home. Your place with John was never a home, it was just a motel; a room with four walls. That’s not what a home meant to you, it was a person more than a place. That person to you was your mom and you needed her now more than ever.

When you opened up the door you had expected her to be on the couch watching a movie or something. The TV was on, however she wasn’t there. Your mom would never have left the TV on and gone to bed, so where the hell was she? You shut the door behind you and checked in the living room once more.

Heading up the stairs you heard the noise of the TV from her room. Why would the upstairs and downstairs TV be on?

“Mom?” You called out, but there was no answer. “Mom, it’s me, Y/N… I’m sorry, things didn’t work out with John.”

You walked into her room and saw her foot hanging off the end of the bed. You figured she must have fallen asleep while watching TV. You smiled as you thought of her peacefully laying there and not having to worry about anything. You wanted to cover her with a blanket but as soon as you walked in, you saw something you weren’t prepared for.

Summary: Jughead Jones, facing the reality of having nowhere to stay anymore when the Drive-In gets shut down, finds temporary shelter at the Blue & Gold office. But what happens when an upset Betty Cooper catches him on the act?

Read on AO3

(Sooooo, I’m watching Riverdale and my feels about Bughead are over the moon!! And now that we learnt some bits and pieces about his life and that he doesn’t have a house anymore (my heart is broken, I just love Jughead) I had no other choice but to write this, hope you all like guys!!!)

Jughead knew the routine by now. Scrunched down and trying to make his trademark combat boots as soundless as possible, the raven haired boy cautiously popped his head from the corner he was hiding, icy blue eyes scanning the empty corridor in from of him. A quarter to nine, the great clock over the entrance of Riverdale High informed him and he slightly frowned, biting anxiously on his down lip and drumming his slender fingers on the tiled wall next to him in anticipation. Radio commercials along with the icky sound of track soles stepping on wet floor could be heard faintly inside the now lifeless school building, a tell-tale sign that his misery for the day will soon be over and Jughead could be nothing but relieved about it. He was tired and even more so mentally tired, with all the small town drama and its joke of residents as well as his spiraling thoughts about his novel and the newfound reality he had to adjust to, that being his current situation of well, yeah, being homeless, plus the here and there thoughts about a certain girl next door, a girl he knew all his life and a girl he always knew belonged to his best friend, that lately seemed to invade his mind an awful more lot. Yeah, Jughead needed a place to lie down, even if that was the dusty floor of the Blue & Gold.

When Barry’s angry he tends to shut everyone around him out. After a squabble with you, he’d storm out to clear his mind, allowing both of you a good amount of time to calm down before he returns and you two can actually talk things through.

We all also know that Barry is a crier so it’s highly possible that he would break down into tears when either he or you try to apologize. But the night would definitely end with some I’m sorry cuddles or some makeup sex.

Our Booth ~ Jughead Jones

Okay, I have quickly become extremely obsessed with Riverdale, and mainly Jughead! I love the new twist on the character, and I absolutely love the way that Cole Sprouse portrays him, so I needed to write something for him.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
   You had just moved back to Riverdale after three years of being away. You were excited to see all your old friends again and to see what they were like now; especially your old best friend, Jughead Jones. You had both been pretty devastated when your mom told you that she had gotten a job that required you to move. You two had kept in touch for almost two years after that, but it faded to a couple text messages here and there, until the two of you just completely stopped. For the last two years you hadn’t seen or heard anything from your absolute best friend in the entire world.
   Your mom had sent you to pick up your takeout at the local diner and your personal favourite place to eat; Pop’s.  Jughead and you used to come here all the time, every friday night you would sit at the same table and just talk about life, that booth was your happy place. Walking in, Pop comes from behind the counter to greet you.
“(Y/N), I didn’t know that you were back in town, how are your parents?” He asks.
“They’re great, they actually sent me to pick up our food. You know that none of us can resist your burgers” you smile at him.
“Well, I will get that ready for you, it’ll take a minute so, make yourself comfortable.”
“Thank you Pop”
    You look around the room and notice that the place is completely empty except one person; you didn’t expect anything different at this time on a Friday night. The boy looked to be about your age with black hair covered by a beanie, he was typing away furiously on his laptop.
    Damn, he is attractive!
   He also happened to be sitting in your favourite booth. You decide to go talk to him, maybe you’ll have a friend before you start school in a couple days.
   Standing next to the table, you greet him, “Hello, would you mind if I sat?”
“Why?” He asks, not looking up from his laptop.
“I don’t know, maybe so we can have a conversation? Doesn’t seem like you’ve got a line up of people wanting to talk to you.” I sassed.
“Fine, whatever” he agrees, not looking at you still.
“Thank you” I reply politely, sitting down across from him, “I’m starting to understand why people aren’t fighting to be your bestie.”
“I really don’t care if people like me, I’m fine on my own.” He rolls his eyes at you.
“Wow, you’re really hot, shame about the personality though” you snark
“Well, I don’t think anyone could ever be as lovely as you” he tells you sarcastically.
“Whatever. What are you writing?” You ask, pointing to his laptop.
“A novel” he answers.
“About?”
“What happened here this summer, the murder of Jason Blossom” he says flatly.
“Interestic topic” you try.
“Order for (L/N)” Pop says, bringing the bag of food to the table and placing it in front of you, “ It’s good to see you two back together again, and in your booth too. You know (Y/N), Jughead never sits at a different table, even in all the time that you were gone.”
   Pop smiles at the two of you before making his way back behind the counter.
“(Y/N) (L/N), is it really you?” Beanie boy asks you, losing the grumpy attitude instantly, closing his laptop he just stares at you wide eyed.
   He searched your face like he was trying to memorize it. he had a look of pure joy on his face and you assumed that you had the same look. You had missed him so much, and now he was right here in front of you again, you were overjoyed to have your best friend back.
“The one and only” you answer happily, “ you look different Jug.”
“So do you” he answers with a grin, “I didn’t even recognize you.”
“Did you really always sit here?” You question.
“Every Friday, six O'clock on the dot” He answers, “I guess I just hoped that one day you’d come back through those doors and everything would go back to the way it used to be; you and me against the world.”
“That is the sweetest thing I have ever heard Jug” you say, causing a blush to appear on his cheeks, “I guess your wish finally came true.”
“I guess it has” he smiles, “come on, let me walk you home, I haven’t seen your parents in ages.”
The two of you stand and he packs up his bag, before throwing the strap over his shoulder.
“They have definitely missed you” you beam, “but, not as much as I have.”
“Good to know (Y/N), cause I have missed you to” He says, pulling you in for a tight hug.
  You stand there for a minute, just hugging, trying to make up for the years without eachother. His head rests on top of yours, while yours is laid on his chest.
“Damn, you got tall Jughead.” You laugh from your place in his arms.
“I like it, I’m the perfect height to rest my head on yours” you don’t have to see his face to know that he is smiling.
“You’re such a dork.” You laugh.
“I know, I got that from so many years of hanging out with you” He jokes as the two of you pull away from the hug. He grabs one of your hands in his, intertwining your fingers as he grabs the bag of food with his other hand.
   You pay for your food and exit through the front door of Pop’s into the chilly September weather, walking together down the sidewalk, hands clasped together tightly.
“Now, what’s this about me being hot?” Jughead teases you lovingly.
“Shut up.”
Do this. Do that. Turn your focus here. I need your help over there. Why didn’t you do better on this quiz? We need your help decorating the dance. Why didn’t you come to my party Friday night?
Why can’t you do better?
Why can’t you be better?
It felt as if someone had a vice grip on your mind–the pressure from your thoughts and the surrounding sensories building. The day had started out alright, you were a little low on sleep, but nothing you couldn’t handle. With your planner by your side and a to-do list written out, everything would be okay.
Until third period, when you couldn’t find your planner and suddenly, you’d felt as if you had lost control of everything. You attempted to calm your racing mind by writing and re-writing your list of things to do on various sticky notes and blank sheets of paper, but to no avail. Writing things down helped you to keep everything in order, but it had to be in a planner to work.
It had to be neat and precise to give you a sense of control.
And without it anchoring your nerves, your thoughts ran wild. Worries about deadlines, doubts about interactions with friends, and fears of not having your next step planned out flooded your brain, filling it up to the brim–but you refused to allow any to leak out. Throughout the school day, you make sure to maintain a composed appearance in front of your friends and classmates; smiling when needed and speaking up when called on. Even though it was a battle against yourself to avoid crumpling into a wired ball in the middle of the hallway.
To the most of the school, you were fine.
To one of your best friends, you were not.
Jughead had been keeping an eye on you since he saw you freeze up in third period. He’d known you long enough to realize what the furrowing of your brow and the drawing in of your limbs meant–panic. He was also wise enough not to bring it up in school. Rather choosing to remain by your side as much as he could, trying to deduce the root of your distress and how he could help fix it.
You could tell what Jug was doing, as soon as he began to silently walk with you to your different classes, whether or not he attended them with you. It brought a slight sense of comfort in knowing that someone was aware that something was off, without you having to outright tell them. Jughead had always been someone you could turn to in times of need and vise versa. Talking about the whirlwind of emotions that had a tendency to fill your heart and mind, was never something that you were very skilled at. So, having the one person who you wanted to know how you felt, already know with no words spoken, was a gift all unto itself.
Of course, today was the day your teachers decided to assign all of the big term assignments, and each one pushed you closer to the edge. Relief flooded your system when you heard the final dismissal bell ring. Go home. Do homework.
Simple enough. That you could handle.
Jughead joined you on your walk home, the fresh air and blue skies cooling your nerves ever so slightly. You and he walked side by side, your eyes fixated on the sidewalk beneath your feet, while Jug’s were focused on you. He wanted to ask if you wanted to grab a bite a Pop’s, for his stomach sounded like an overprotective mother bear, but he knew that you’d say no. What you needed was to follow whatever plan had accumulated in your mind in order to regain a sense of control.
And so, he decided on grabbing some food at your house; it wasn’t unusual for him to hang out there anyhow. The trees that were lining your street casted cool shadows over you, which gave your skin a break from the vibrant sun that was out that afternoon. Pushing open the front door, you were happy to see your house just the way you’d left it–one less thing to worry about. Your parents wouldn’t be home for a couple more hours, meaning you would be granted with peace and quiet as your thoughts fell back into place.
Jughead followed you up to your room, making sure to leave the door slightly open, and took no time in flopping on your bed while you settled down at your computer desk. Placing your backpack neatly to your right, you pulled out that night’s homework as your laptop booted up. Though you were still on edge, you were able to focus a bit more now that you were in your space. Pulling out the sheet of paper that listed your homework, you began to silently estimate how long each assignment would take.
Math would take you around forty-five minutes, another twenty minutes for history reading, and probably another hour for your English writing assign–
Freezing your train of thought, you glanced up at your laptop when you didn’t hear the usual melody that played as it turned on. The screen was black. Wierd. You swore you had pressed the power button. Shrugging it off, you pushed the on-button and waited.
Nothing.
You pressed it again, holding it longer this time.
Blackness.
You checked to make sure it was plugged in while you were at school, it was, meaning it should have a full charge. You pressed the power button one more time, but to no avail. Your laptop wasn’t turning on. This… this couldn’t be happening. Not now. Not today.
The logical side of your mind was telling you that you could head to the library, or a friend’s house to finish typing the English assignment, but, at that moment, all rational thoughts went out the window. Your neck and shoulders tensed and you could feel your toes curling into the soft carpet underneath your feet. Forehead twisting in distress, you rested your elbows on your desk and your head in your hands. The room was silent, but the silence was too loud. Your fingers curled into your scalp, nails digging into your skin, trying to keep the tears from escaping.
Breathe, you thought. Breathe.
But, soon breathing turned into hyperventilating, which drew Jughead’s attention away from the book he had been reading. He quietly marked his page and put the novel to the side. Scooting forward on your bed, he asked, “How are you feeling?”
The thick lump in your throat took a couple of swallows to get down, before you managed to softly sputter, “Completely out of control.”
Jug stood from his spot on your bed and walked to your side, careful not to touch you because he knew at that moment, physical contact was the last thing you wanted. He grabbed ahold of the back of your desk chair, pulling you away from the laptop and spinning you so that you were facing him. Slowly, you lowered your hands from your face, your breathing becoming increasingly ragged as you attempted to steady it.
Jughead’s eyes locked with yours, “(Y/N), I want you to breathe in time with my counting. Okay?”
You nodded.
“One. Two. Three.” In.
“Four. Five. Six.” Out.
“One. Two. Three.” In.
“Four. Five. Six.” Out.
You could feel your heart rate slow as you found yourself gaining control over something once more–your breathing. Closing your eyes, you inhaled and exhaled in time with Jug’s voice. This continued for a few moments before you felt the intrusive thoughts knocking at your mind once more. Eyes flying open, you stared at Jughead, trying to convey to him that you required another distraction–and quickly–without opening your mouth.
He got the message and hurriedly racked his brain for something–anything–that would make your mind go blank. And while he didn’t physically desire to so, he lurched forward and pressed his lips to yours anyway. He could feel your entire form go rigid with shock, and he knew that his tactic had done the trick. His lips remained on yours for another instant before they retreated. Jughead didn’t fear you getting the entirely wrong impression.
He did have feelings for you in a romantic sense–though, that moment may not be the best for revealing how his feelings went past friendship–just not a physical desire. You knew that was how he was, though, which is one of the main reasons the kiss took you completely off guard.
You blinked, “But… you-”
“It distracted you, didn’t it?”
You swallowed and gave a slight nod.
Jug smiled, “Then my plan worked and was worth it. Now, I’m famished. Let’s head to Pop’s.”
Notes: So this turned out a lot longer than I expected whoops. The opening scene is mainly for background and setting, taken pretty much directly from the episode (adding in the reader of course haha). Anyways I hope to be writing more Jughead in the future so let me know what you guys think!
“The drive-in closing is just one more nail in the coffin that is Riverdale. No, forget Riverdale. The coffin of the American Dream. As the godfather of indie cinema Quentin Tarantino likes to say–”
“Please, god, no more Quentin Tarantino references,” Kevin interrupts Jughead, glancing over at you with an expression practically begging you to rein Jughead in from his rant.
“What? I’m pissed. And not just about losing my job. The Twilight Drive-in should mean something to us. People should be trying to save it!” Jughead exclaims, leaning back against the booth with a huff. Veronica leans across the table, grabbing Jug’s hand gently to try and calm him down.
“In this age of Netflix and VOD, do people really want to watch a movie in a car? I mean, who even goes there?” She asks, trying to get him to understand the reason for the tear-down.
“People who want to buy crack,” Kevin responds, and you shoot him a warning glare.
“And cinephiles. And car enthusiasts. Right, Y/N?” Jughead turns to you, hoping that you’ll be on his side.
“Yeah. It’s a piece of town history,” you add, before Jughead turns his attention to Betty on his other side.
“Bets?” he prompts, drawing her out of her thoughts.
“Totally,” she responds absentmindedly, which seems to be enough for Jughead.
“Anyway, it’s closing because the town owns it but didn’t invest in it. So when an anonymous buyer made Mayor McCoy an offer she couldn’t refuse–”
“Anonymous buyer?” Veronica cuts in. “What do they have to hide? No one cares.”
“I do!” Jughead exclaims, and you take one of his hands in yours, interlacing your fingers under the table in an effort to calm him down. You’d known since the start of your relationship that he wasn’t much into PDA so you refrained from it, except for the occasional hand holding and Jughead’s arm wrapped loosely on your shoulders when he felt like it.
Jughead smiles down at you when you take his hand, before addressing the rest of the group.
<><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><>
To be blunt, having a twin sucked ass. Well, with your experience it did. At least you were the older one, which had to count for something. Ok so there was a two minute difference between the two of you, but you used the leverage when you could.
 Reggie was always a little asshole, even when the both of you were kids. He always stole your toys out of your hands claiming they were his. And he was the perfect golden boy in your parents eyes. His arrogance only sky rocketed with their parental encouragements.
He was always very popular in school. Had the coolest friends, was part of all the sports teams, and when he came of age, dated the prettiest girls. You on the other hand were always different.
You preferred reading and staying indoors rather than playing with everyone else. Of course your parents still forced you to try out for sports, (you soon enough became partial towards softball.)
 Your stupid brother and his rather loud reputation never meant well for you. Everyone knew he had twin, but never bothered to really get to know you, always assuming you were like your brother.
Nonetheless, writing was your specialty. You always had a way with words. You knew from an early age you wanted to major in some sort of English profession, whether it be teaching it or writing it. In fact, that’s how you ended up meeting your current boyfriend Jughead Jones.
At first he was skeptical of you, but once the both of you clicked, it was one of the best things to happen to both of you. Thinking back on the whole start of it all always brought a smile to your face.
“Ok girls, I’ll see you guys next practice.” You had hollered over to your teammates before swinging your backpack over your shoulder as they all shouted their own farewells. You left the school grounds and decided to go to Pop’s. One, because their food was amazing and two, you were hoping you could get some work done in the usually peaceful setting.
 You made the effort to walk over there even though your sore limbs protested greatly. Once you got in to the beloved Diner, you went up to the counter and ordered your usual before going to find a seat.
 As you walked through the small building, your eyes locked with stormy blue ones for a few short seconds. And in that short amount of time you were intrigued. He watched you with a weary stance, as if he were mapping out your every move before you executed it.
You’d seen him before. Jughead Jones, he was in your English class. But you never talked, just silently drifted off into the lesson given that day. With a split second thought you decided to approach him as you waited for your food.
“Hi.” You said hesitantly, immediately beating yourself up on the inside for making a fool out of your self for coming over. Hi? Really, that’s all you could come up with? You reprimanded as you stayed silent and watched him.
 Of course all that had happened in a moments thought and he actually replied quickly. “Hi.” He said with an unsure look. You looked around and noticed he had a laptop out that he was typing in, taking up your interest you decided to try and make conversation out of it. “What are you doing?” You asked as you nodded over at his device.
He looked to see what you were referring with a quickly glance and replied with a short worded answer. “Writing.” You grinned, you had a passion for the subject. Deciding to trust your gut, you sit yourself in front of him and smile brightly. “What are you writing about?” You asked. He still looked unsure of you, although, these types of looks weren’t unusual when you met new people. Mostly because Reggie and his erratic behavior met them first.
 "Why do you want to know?“ He asked with an eyebrow raised. “Oh, I love writing. I hope to have a career to do with the subject one day.” You answered as you messed with your fingers over the table.
 "Hm.“ He said in thought. “What?” You asked. He shrugged. “I don’t know, I guess I just figured that the twin sister of the oh so famous Reggie Mantle would be more.. well, Reggie-like.” “Well, I play softball if that’s what you mean. But otherwise I’ve always been the more soft spoken one I guess. My brother is just a real pain in my ass all the time.” You huffed as you crossed your arms.
 "Interesting.“ He looked at you for a few seconds, considering whether he could trust you. He smiled when he saw the genuine curiosity in your eyes. "Well if you must know, I’m writing a novel.” “That’s awesome! About what?” You asked. “Riverdale.” “Well that was descriptive.” You retorted as he cracked a grin.
 Your food finally came out at that time, your fries looked exceptionally delicious. “Wanna share?” To which he grinned.
 That encounter alone sparked on many more encounters after that. After meeting up 5 more times after that first one, he asked you out. You obviously hid it from your brother, neither of you could even imagine the torment that would come.
 The both of you had been together for a little over 6 months now. A whole summer had passed and the two of you were still going strong. When sophomore year started, softball started again too.
 He always went to your games and was the cute supportive boyfriend. Whenever you made a home run he was always right there for you. And it wasn’t like your brother ever went to your games so you never had to worry.
When you had started dating Jughead, his three other friends adopted you in their group and they were all for your secret relationship, never bringing it up when Reggie was around. Archie came close a couple times to spilling the beans but Betty and Veronica usually kept him in check.
 It was a particularly sunny day when another softball game had taken place. It was the final game of the season, which meant your parents were obligated to come too. However, this meant they were forcing Reggie to be “supportive” of his sister. Of course Jughead had come to watch.
You were the best pitcher on the team so that was the position assigned on the field for you. Before you ran out with your teammates, you gave Jughead a quick kiss, promising to see him afterwards. You didn’t realize your brother had come to your game until your eyes had met when you made it to the pitchers mound.
He smirked but applauded with everyone else, cheering you on. The first batter on the other team made it to the plate and hit the bat against the ground a couple of times before getting into position. You smirked and readied your arm before pitching.
 The game lasted a couple of hours, your team winning by a home run (that you had made). Your entire team was hollering as was the crowd. Your parents told you they were proud of you and that’s when you noticed Reggie was missing.
 "Hey, where Reg?“ You asked your parents. Your mom wasn’t paying attention to you as she typed away on her phone. "He went to talk to someone I think.” Your dad said before leading his wife away to the car.
 You shrugged before going to find your boyfriend. When you found him, you realized he wasn’t alone, Reggie was with him. “Oh god.” You muttered under your breath as you approached them.
“Oh, hey sis. Good job on your game.” He said before continuing his malicious staring at Jughead. “Reggie, what are you doing?” You asked. He turned to you again. “Just finding my answers from this little freak here.” He turned back to Jughead who only looked at him with a pissed stare.
 "So, are you gonna answer my question? It was you who killed Blossom huh?“ "I didn’t.” Jug spat. “What’s it to you anyway Reggie? Just leave him alone.” You said as your eyes met Jughead’s a couple times. “Because my coach has been non-stop breathing down my neck thinking it was me! I figured I can try to catch the person who did it so he’d leave me alone. And I bet it was him.” Reggie stayed as he looked at Jughead.
 "Reggie stop. Leave Jughead alone, he didn’t do anything.“ You said as you tried to shove Reggie away from him. "Oh, so you’re friends and with the little freak. Wouldn’t put it past you, you’ve always been weird. You know, I wonder if it was you that killed him.” He said. Your jaw dropped.
“What the hell Reggie. Are you really accusing me of murder!? Murder Reggie, that’s insane. And besides, you know I was at an early softball practice on July 4th. And Jughead and I met up right after to hang out so why don’t you take your stupid accusations somewhere else.” You snapped at your brother.
 "Why are you protecting him? This little geek is just a stupid nobody that nobody likes.“ He growled. "I like him! Reggie, he’s sweet, and funny, and caring… and all the things you aren’t!” He stopped and stared at you analyzing your words carefully.
 "Wait… are you two… oh no way.“ His eyes widened as he looked back and forth between the two of you. "Back off Reggie.” You spat as he his shoulders slumped and he walked off giving you one last glare before disappearing around the corner.
 You grinned as you looked over to Jughead who was in shock. “Well, so much for not telling him.” He commented with a sly smirk before wrapping you in his arms and congratulating you on your win.
If you let me (Justin Foley, 13 reasons)
Justin Foley. Star basketball player, pretty smart, and a ladies man. He made his rounds with the girls at Liberty High. That was, until he met you. Everything changed about two months into him dating you. It wasn’t all about your physical relationship with him. Or even the emotional relationship. There was something beautiful about the perfect balance of those. Neither of you had felt it in your previous relationships. This was so different.
It had been an hour since Justin had dropped you off after a dinner date at a local Mexican food restaurant. You had a warm feeling enveloping your entire being. It was a feeling you got every time you’d spend time with Justin. He’d drop you off and you’d change into pajamas and be doing chores or something, but you wouldn’t be able to wipe the smile off of your face. Spending time with him meant the world. You were cuddled up on your bed, watching a random episode of Friends on your laptop when your phone started to buzz. It wasn’t a call, but you could tell you had been texted at least three times. You looked at your phone. It was Justin.
Hey. Need to see you.
Mom won’t tell the POS to fuck off, I can’t be here anymore.
I’m in your yard, can I climb up?
You locked your phone and crawled off your bed and over to your bedroom window. You unlocked your window and slid it up. Justin lunged at you, kissing you softly and slowly. He did this when he wanted to calm you down or when he needed to calm himself down.
“Seth again?” You whispered, moving aside so we could crawl in through the window.
“Who else? He’s the only one who ever comes back more than once or twice.” He shut your window. You took his hand and lead him to the bed. You set your laptop on the floor and turned the blankets down so you could both crawl into bed. Your parents’ room was downstairs, so you two usually didn’t fret much about getting caught. In fact, Justin usually spent the night two or three times a week. He would leave at five in the morning. No one had ever caught you guys. So this was now a casual, common occurrence.
“I dunno, I kinda like when we comes around. Gives me more time with you.” You said, a hint of joking in your tone of voice. You nestled into him, kissing his jawline mindlessly.
“You’re the only reason I find this even remotely appealing.” He ran his hand up and down you arm soothingly.
“Just once I’d actually like to see my mom choose me over something.” He mumbled into your hair.
“Justin, I really do think she cares-” he didn’t let you finish. He was quick to cut you off because he knew where it was going.
“I have to face it, Y/N. If it’s not Seth, it’s another guy, and if it’s not another guy, it’s drugs, and if it isn’t drugs it’s literally anything in this world besides me.” He was speaking in a hushed tone, as the sound of footsteps downstairs filled the otherwise silent night. He was hurting though, you knew it.
“Move in.” You mumbled. Justin tensed up. It was obvious he didn’t expect this. You didn’t know how he’d react, however you couldn’t help but say it.
“Yes, because your parents will allow their minor daughter to have a live in boyfriend. I love you, but that’s.. no.” He pulled you closer. You pulled away, sitting up in the bed. You turned on your bedside lamp.
“I’m serious, Justin. We have a spare room, and it’s downstairs not up here. My parents love you. If they knew what you were going through at home…” That was when Justin sat up, his eyebrows seemed to be furrowed in annoyance.
“You cannot throw me a pity party just to make your parents more lenient.” He pushed your hair out of your face.
“It’s not like that. They care about you.” You just look at Justin. He laughed a little, bringing you onto his lap.
“Not enough to let their little girl shack up with a boy in high school, I’d bet.” You crossed your arms over your chest.
“You’re looking at this all weird. Let me do the talking. I can make this happen, if you want it to, that is.” You looked him in the eyes.
“I’ll always take care of you if you let me.” You continued, kissing him. He reciprocated, and in that moment you knew he understood.
“I love you. There will be a point in life where I will be able to take care of you.” He stroked your hair, his chin resting on top of your head.
“Ya know what time I can’t wait for?” You whispered looking at him with your eyes practically smiling.
“What time is that?” Justin didn’t move or say anything else.
“When we’ll be taking care of each other, at the same time.” You looked up and your smile met his. You were both looking forward to that time.
SORRRRY if this was bad. But I do hope it wasn’t and I hope it was enjoyable.
—————
“So what do you guys want to do next? Facials, manicures, some gossiping about Reggie Mantle’s latest fling?”
“Kevin, no.” Betty groaned. “The last thing I want to hear about is Reggie’s sex life.”
You laughed and turned back to Betty’s little trinkets, checking them out. Girls night was being hosted at Betty’s house and you were having a great time so far. You, Betty, Veronica, and Kevin were listening to music and just chatting mindlessly about things like school and the dance.
“Oh, I love this song!” Veronica exclaimed.
Before you could ask what song it was, it flooded through the speakers.
I was a quick-wet boy
Diving too deep for coins
You froze. It was your and Kevin’s song. The song that was playing when the both of you got together. Your first kiss. Your first dance.
Your mind felt burned out. You were sick of all this research. Why couldn’t you and your brothers and Kevin go on a vacation? One vacation. That’s all you were asking for. You sighed and rubbed your eyes. Kevin was on the opposite side of you, trying to translate the tablet. Some upbeat pop music was playing quietly from the radio. All of a sudden, a slow song came on the radio.
I was a quick-wet boy
Diving too deep for coins
You paid no attention to it. Kevin however, looked up at you for a second, then to the radio, then back down to the tablet again. Should he or shouldn’t he? After toying with it for thirty seconds, he took a deep breath and got up and walked to your side.
Stole me a dog-eared map
And called for you everywhere
You looked up from your book at him and Kevin held out his palm. You looked at it for a second before a hint of a smile came on your face and you placed your hand on his. Kevin smirked as you got up.
Have I found you?
Flightless bird, jealous, weeping
Or lost you?
He placed one hand on your hip and kept his other in yours. You placed your free hand on his shoulder and the two of you started to sway, slowly at first. Then the slow song picked up the beat just a bit and Kevin spun you around and smiled.
Now I’m a fat house cat
Nursing my sore blunt tongue
You giggled as you spun and came back into contact with Kevin. The two of you continued to dance, every once in a while smiling or chuckling at your movements. By the song’s upcoming conclusion, the beat had considerably slowed down and the both of you swayed very slowly, gazing into each other’s eyes.
American mouth
Big pill stuck going down
The song hit the final note and you and Kevin both leaned into each other at the same time, kissing each other softly. You finally broke the kiss and you looked at each other, trying to figure out the other’s reaction. Then at the same time, the two of you broke out into smiles and softly chuckled. You wrapped your arms around Kevin’s neck while Kevin snaked his arms around your waist. You rested your head on Kevin’s shoulder while Kevin rested his head on the side of your head. You both closed your eyes and continued to sway gently to the music that wasn’t even slow now. You were lost in your own world, not wanting this moment to end.
“Y/N?” Betty asked from behind you. “Are you okay?”
You gripped the table so hard your knuckles turned white.
All of your street light eyes
Wide on my plastic toys
“Um, can you guys turn that off please?” you asked quietly, trying to keep your voice steady and your tears at bay.
Kevin quickly turned the song off and the three of them looked at you. Veronica slowly walked over to you.
“Y/N…” Veronica said, gently putting a hand on your arm. “Are you alright?”
You flinched at the touch and turned around to face the three other teens.
“I gotta go,” you said, quickly wiping a fallen tear away, hoping the teens wouldn’t notice.
They did.
“Um, thank you for having me over, Betty. Bye.” You quickly said before all but running out of the house.
You didn’t notice the photo that fell out of your jacket pocket.
“Wait, Y/N!” Betty called, but you were already downstairs.
The teens heard the front door close and Veronica and Kevin ran to the window, peeking out of it. You ran until you got to the end of the driveway, stopping. You ran a hand through your H/C locks, breathing heavily.
“Who gets PTSD from a song?” Kevin asked.
Veronica glared at him.
“What?” he asked innocently.
They turned back to you. You shoved your hands in your plaid jacket pockets and walked off down the street, beginning your journey to Pop’s.
“Hey guys?” Betty asked.
Kevin and Veronica turned to the blonde who picked up the fallen photograph.
“You need to see this.”
All you wanted was a milkshake to go. You would walk home and then lock yourself up in your room until Monday morning. You could try to convince Sam and Dean that you were sick on Monday to prevent going to school for one more day, but you knew they wouldn’t believe you. As you walked into Pop’s with those things on your mind, they instantly faded away once you saw Jughead sitting in his usual booth typing away on his computer. Seemingly feeling your gaze, Jughead looked up at you and smirked. You couldn’t help but smile back as you made your way over to the raven-haired teen, sitting across from him.
“Hey there, Ms. Winchester.” he said.
“Mr. Jones.” you said back as you stole a couple of Jughead’s fries.
“What brings you to this fine establishment at these hours?” he asked as he looked down at his laptop again. “Weren’t you supposed to have a girls night with Veronica or something?”
You froze, forcing the fries down your throat as you swallowed them.
“I was, but stuff came up. So I left.” you mumbled.
Jughead looked up at you at your change of tone and closed his laptop, giving you his full attention.
“Something happen?” he asked.
You shrugged.
“Not really. Maybe. I don’t know. It’s kinda stupid.” you said.
Jughead nodded.
“Do you want to talk about it?” he asked.
You shook your head.
“Not particularly.” you said weakly.
Jughead nodded again.
“Fair enough,” he said as he sat back in his seat. “I know how it feels when someone pressures you into talking about something you’re not ready to talk about. So I’ll back off.”
You smiled at him.
“Thank you, Jughead. I appreciate it.”
Jughead smirked at you again.
“However… For the dance…” he began. “I do need to know where you live. I’d like to pick you up.”
The smile fell off your face.
“D-Do you?” you asked. “I mean… don’t people just meet each other there?”
Jughead chuckled.
“Not if they have dates they don’t.”
The smile came back to your face.
“So this’ll be a date, huh?” you joked.
Jughead blushed and looked down.
“If you want it to be.” he said shyly.
You beamed.
“Of course, Juggie,” you said.
He looked up at you again with that soft smile you loved so much. You took a deep breath.
“I guess I’ll tell you where I live then,” you began. “I’m staying at the—”
“Incoming.” Jughead interrupted, looking at something behind you.
You frowned.
“What?” you asked as you turned around.
Your eyes widened as you saw Veronica walking towards you, something in her hand.
“Ronnie.”
“Y/N,” she began, eyes darting between you and Jughead nervously. “Um, here. It fell out of your pocket when you left Betty’s.”
She handed you the object and Jughead craned his neck to see what it was. You felt your breath leave your body as you realized what it was. It was the photo of Lily from when she was three months old.
“Great,” you croaked. “Thanks.”
You wanted to put the photo away as quickly as you could but you found yourself unable to stop staring at your daughter and her little smile. It had been four months since you had gotten that picture. You wondered how big she was now. What she could be doing. Could she sit up yet? Roll over? Crawl?
“What’s her name?” Veronica asked tentatively.
You looked up at her, ready to deny knowing anything about the baby in the picture but stopped once you saw her face. Veronica Lodge wasn’t dumb. She had put together all the pieces. She knew who Lily was.
“That’s none of your business.” you snapped as you got up, shoving the photo into your pocket.
“Y/N—”
“I said, it’s none of your business, Veronica!” you yelled as you exited your booth.
The diner quieted down and everyone looked at you. You turned around, ready to leave when you felt someone gently grab your arm. You stopped, looking back. Jughead looked up at you worriedly, his hand gently enclosed around your arm. Tears welled up in your eyes.
“Y/N…” he said softly.
You couldn’t take it. He had figured it out too. Lily may have had Kevin’s smile and hair color, but she looked exactly like you otherwise.
You quickly pulled your arm from Jughead’s grip, running out of Pop’s as fast as you could. Even with your lungs burning and your legs feeling like they would give out at any second, you continued to run, your chest heaving. After running for God knows how long, you came to a stop, falling to your knees. All the emotions that you had kept bottled up for the last few months hit you at full speed and you finally allowed yourself to cry. As you cried, you weren’t sure if you could stop. Or even if you wanted to.
A/N: Y’all know how I love my angst. :) Hope you liked it! Please send me feedback! Oh, and for anyone confused with dates, the reader was gone for eleven months in total (seven for the remainder of her pregnancy and four in order to get back in shape), and she’s been back for three. That makes Lily seven months old. Hope this clears up any confusion!
Admit It
Anon Prompt: “Hi, can you do one where Juggie gets really jealous of best friend Y/N because she always goes out but she is just doing it on purpose? Because she likes him? Then they admit their feelings.”
A/N: I just wanted to say that I’m really thankful for the kind messages from everyone and for the followers who have been so patient with me. I’m sorry it’s been so long. I’ve also never written heterosexual smut before, so sorry if it sucks!! Smut is in the read more, so don’t read if you’re uncomfortable with smut and non asexual jughead
The people around me cheer as I furiously chug the beer, I’m in a race against Reggie Mantle.
Loser must buy the winner a life time supply of Pop’s whenever they want.
Half of the party seems to be cheering me on, whilst the other cheers for Reggie’s victory; from the corner of my eye, I look over at Reggie who at the wrong time, sucks in air and ends up choking, he spits beer everywhere.
I finish mine and crush the can triumphantly; I smile at Reggie who is wiping beer of his face.
“Good game, Mantle.” I laugh, holding my hand out.
“I can’t believe I lost to a girl.” He huffs, shaking my hand.
“Didn’t you get the memo, Reggie? Chauvinism is dead.” Jughead says, wrapping his arm around me.
“Hey Juggie!” I giggle, the alcohol is going to my head, so is the loud thrum of the music.
Note: So um I had an idea, this happened. I’m planning to turn this into a series if you guys like it enough. I don’t know what will happen if I do but we’ll see if y’all want it to be a series or not. I based the library off the one at my school, it’s two stories and I love it and there’s a great spot in a corner next to a plug that I was sitting last week.
AU: College
You groan as you quickly rush through the library in search of a spare table next to a power point to set up at. Just 10 minutes ago everything was perfect, you’d found a nice quiet place outside to sit and work on your essay in the warm sunshine.
Then suddenly you felt a chill as dark clouds covered the sky and you felt the first of the rain drops. By the time you made it to the cover of the library you were completely soaked from the heavy rain that had set in and didn’t look like it would be going anywhere for a while.
Of course every good table in here is taken, why would anyone be outside in that? You ask yourself as you make your up to the second floor of the library in the hopes that you can find somewhere up there to sit.
As you move closer to the back corner your hopes are raised as you spot what you think is an empty table but when you get there you find someone sitting there, tucked away in the corner out of sight.
You stop right next to the table, the smile of relief falling off your face as you glare at the guy sitting there.
