this is what happens in my head. don't judge me

Okay but.

Have you ever considered…Nick Valentine and his relationship with children?

That he had been in Diamond City for so many years that he’s probably seen the citizens grow from little ones, into adults and then starting families with children of their own?

That he probably always smiles to himself when he hears the news of another member of Diamond City giving birth to a new bundle of joy, and knowing that even though the world is dangerous – that they now have a new little star to light their way in the darkness. (And later going to introduce himself to them and the happy parents, because babies always seem fascinated by his glowing eyes, and he loves their bubbling)

Or that Nick more than likely goes out of his way to learn the names of the children of Diamond City, and does his best to become a mentor to them and answer any and all questions that they have for him – because the children were never afraid of what he was – and are always overjoyed when “Cool Detective Nick” gives them extra attention when he’s not on a case.

“Why do ya smoke, Mista Valentine?”
“Cus it helps this ol’ noggin of mine feel relaxed, kid.”
“Can I smoke too?”
“Aw, I don’t think so, pal. You don’t wanna wind up a dusty old mess like me, do ya?”

Think about Nick bringing one of the kids from the School House in with him to his office after their classes, and Ellie rolling her eyes playfully.

“Another one? Nick, really?” She would say with a sweet giggle, and Nick would ruffle the kid’s head and lean down to their height to place his hat upon their head.

“Nah, but you don’t get it, Ellie,” He would say in response to her. “This here is my lucky partner for the day.”

Now, think about Nick picking the squealing, smiling kid up over his shoulders, and carrying them out to the market place. Telling them that he needs their help, and relying on their wits and detective skills to discover just what happened to Takahashi‘s last batch of Power Noodles.

“Great job, partner! Without’cha the city would’ve been starving tonight! How, how’bout we get a bowl or two to celebrate our detective work, huh?”

Think about Nick turning fiercely protective whenever one of them are bothered by rude people on the Upper Stands, calling them “urchins” or “snot nosed brats”, or someone from the outside that had the gall to try and injure them to prove that it isn’t all fun and games, and “This is what happens to kids out here in the real world.”

Think about Nick placing a hand on the kid’s shoulder and retorting with wisecracks of his own to get the rude person to back down, or worse…standing in front of them, shielding them from the raiders and firing a warning shot, before picking up the kid and tucking them safe under his neck as they travel back home together; telling them that it will be okay.

Just…Nick Valentine and kids, okay.

Because, even though the world is a post apocalyptic hell… Nick is going to do all that he’s able to make sure that the children around him are taken care of, and above all safe, even when they’re parents aren’t able to.

And if all he can do is buy one of the kids a round of noodles, or play detective with them, or watch over them when they’re scared and crying and keep them safe from the close-minded of the city, and the outside world…by goodness, he’s going to do that.

Because he knows what it’s like to be lost in world that is too big and too terrifying for one person to take in on their own. And he knows that to overcome that fear – you need to have hope. You need to have joy, and you need to have a childhood.

And Nick is going to do all he can to make sure that the kids out in the Commonwealth get just that, even if it’s from a weathered old Synth Detective like himself.s

“And why the hell do you think I’d want your help?” He asked you and you smiled. “Well, other than the fact I just saved your ass from being killed twice, while in crutches, the guy who sent the hit on your family is a wanted S.H.I.E.L.D felon.” You told him. “Who sent to the hit on my family?” He asked and you scoffed.

“I’m not telling you, until you accept my help.” You stated. “Why does that matter? I would have though you good doers would want my head on a silver plate.” He said and you sighed. “In all honesty, Cap does. I, on the other hand managed to get your name off the CIA, FBI, S.H.I.E.L.D and Avenger hit list.” You informed him.

“Why?” He questioned. “Saving the favor for another time. Now, are we going to work together or what?” You asked. “Yes.” He stated and you smiled. “Alright, first we’re going to hide out at an old S.H.I.E.L.D safe house.” You told him and before you could lift a crutch, he harshly grabbed your forearm. “If you’re lying to me, you’re gonna have a lot to worry about than just some crutches.” He threatened.

“Yeah, okay.” You told him, rolling your eyes and yanking back your arm. “Let’s go.” You said and began to walk out. He rolled his eyes, seeing you stumble with the crutches and carried you into your car. “I didn’t need your help.” You scoffed. “What happened to your legs?” He asked, sitting down on the passengers seat. “A robot asshole shot me.” You said and turned on the car.

“You sure you can drive?” He asked you. “Question me again and I’ll have your head.” You stated and he chuckled.

Drunk | Sammy Wilk Imagine

“You sure you can do one more?” Sammy asks as you pour yourself another shot. You two are at a party where Sammy asked you to join him. First you were hesitant but you ended up coming anyways. Turns out you you were the one enjoying yourself more and Sammy was left to take care of you.

“I’m totally fine baby!” you answer, focusing on sounding sober. Sammy raises him eyebrow a little but let’s you do it anyways. Everyone’s cheering at you as you take shot after shot.

“Babe I think we should go” he says trying to pull you closer, and making you accidentally trip and fall on him. “Oopsiee” you say laughing. “I’m serious” he says looking concerned. “But the party’s not over, I’m having so much fun!” you pout.

“We’ll have fun when we get back home” he says, now pulling you out of the door. “Ooh, I know you want it..” you start singing and dancing around. Again you’re out of balance and fall on the ground.

“Sammy boy, this is the softest sand ever! Come here and try it!” you laugh happily. “Babe that’s grass..” “Ohh, sexi and smart, I love it” you say smirking.

This time he can’t help but laugh. “Thanks babe, you ain’t too bad yourself, but now get your cute ass up the ground!”.

“I lovee you, my sexi man” you mumble. “Love you too” he says while shaking his head amused.

You two get home and he carries you to bed, starting to take your clothes off. “I knew you wanted it” “Not right now babe, I’ll change your clothes” he says slightly chuckling. “Can you please stop, I have a boyfriend” you suddenly state. “Oh, who’s your boyfriend?” he asks. “His name is Sammy boy and he’s soo hot like you have no idea” you answer. “Thank babe” he says tilting his head back form laughter.

“Can we have sex?” you blurt absolutely serious. “Not right now babe, you’re drunk” he says sweetly. “I’m drunk, what happened?”. He keeps laughing at you as you lay there confused. “But seriously can we have sex tomorrow then?” “Who are you and what have you done to my innocent little baby girl?” “Ask the vodka, not me!” you say throwing your hands in the air.

Let Them Be Happy

Just a short little thing for mother’s day.

AO3 Version

“Happy Mother’s Day!!” Eren shouted as he threw open the door. His mother laughed and pulled him into a hugged.

“Hello baby. Thank you. Where’s Levi?” Eren was about to answer when another voice cut in.

“Where is my darling son? He isn’t hiding from me on Mother’s Day, is he?” Levi’s mother walked through the doorway, giving Eren a hug as he wished her a happy Mother’s Day as well. As if on cue, Levi emerged from the kitchen and started walking toward the little group by the door.

“I would never hide from you, mom. Especially not on Mother’s Day. Happy Mother’s Day, mom, Mrs. Jaeger.” He smiled and gave Eren’s mother a hug before moving over to his own mother.
