this is the only one that has legitimately made me laugh

The Ultimate Guide to POT Dates

POT
noun, (pronounced: pē-oh-tē)
A potential Sugar Daddy. This is a man you have not met yet, but are considering starting an arrangement with, or have been on a date with, but haven’t established anything solid yet. In short, a man who you think could potentially be your sugar daddy, but aren’t quite sure yet.

So you’ve checked out his profile, messaged with him a little, decided he could be the one for you; the main question asked now is - what do I do next?

The answer is simple, but for the Sugar Babies who are new, it’s often terrifying. Using the experience I’ve gotten after being a Sugar Baby for a while, I’ve put together a complete guide on how to handle that very first date, so that maybe it goes a little smoother than mine did! xo

Before You Meet

  • Get a feel for him over messaging/text - There’s nothing worse than being stuck for an hour or two with a man who has an attitude, is full of himself, or is just salty, that’s why it’s important to work out what type of person he is.
                    ‣ Identifying Factors:
                            - He has a sleezy username on SA: if his username is ‘CunnilingusMaster69′ or something along those lines, it’s blatantly obvious what’s he looking for.
                            - His responses don’t mirror yours: think about conversational mirroring and use it to help you gauge the success of your conversation. It’s a form of social psychology that is pretty important to how anyone is perceived. If you’re typing out paragraph after paragraph and he is replying with short responses (or vice versa), it’s obvious one party is more interested than the other.
                            - He asks for sexual photos: if he’s asking for sexual photos without even met with you for the first time, then he’s got one thing on his mind and it’s probably pay per play. However, most Sugar Daddy’s will ask for extra photo’s, to make sure you’re not catfishing them, so be ready for that request and have extra photo’s you can send that aren’t on your profile (I usually send one cute selfie and a second full body pic in a nice outfit.) Please note: Snapchat ‘puppy’ filter selfies are not appropriate to send as an additional selfie, maybe once you’ve met him a few times, but not prior to a first meet. You’re already younger than him, there is no need to make yourself seem even younger.
                            - He asks you questions of a sexual nature (ie: your favorite position, sexual history, what you’re into, kinkiest desires, etc): there is absolutely no need for tacky sexual questions, especially if you two haven’t met before. It is important to understand that yes, sugaring is based on sex, sugaring is sex work, but it’s not only sex. Sugaring is about companionship, chemistry, new experiences, and then sex. If he requires a detailed list of what you will or will not do sexually just to meet you for the first time, then he is obviously not looking for a sugar arrangement, he’s just looking for pay per play (which is fine if pay per play is what you’re looking for, each sugar baby is entitled to her own wants and desires out of an arrangement).
                   ‣ Tip:
                           - Whenever an SD asks me “what i am willing to do”, i always reply with this. It’s elegant, polite, and successfully moves the conversation to other topics.
  • Get as many details about him as you can - Meeting someone off the internet is always a little unnerving, especially when it’s a man twice or three times your age. To feel safer, ask for as many details from him as you can, then reverse search the information you have (ie: his phone number, email, name, etc.) to find out his address, income, family members, and other information of the sort. The same goes with photo’s, reverse search them to find out company info, criminal history, and if he’s on any other sites (this helps cross-check age, location, and other facts he has listed on his profile).
  • Choose an identity and stick to it - Think about the type of person you want to convey (ie: the struggling but motivated university student, the driven twenty-something, the educated single mother, the urban socialite, etc) and build yourself up around that image. If you don’t feel comfortable using your real name with POT’s, use a fake name. Invent fake facts and stories or recall certain facts and stories from your life that correspond to the type of person you want to be. Remember, the more you have, the better. Most POT’s will ask you to some extent, some more than others, about you (ie: your job, your likes/dislikes, your upbringing, your dreams/aspirations, your background, your parents/their occupation, etc) and you will need to be prepared to answer. On the other hand, be prepped with questions to ask him, this date is about getting to know each other, it’s a waste of time if you leave knowing nothing about him.
                  ‣ Tip:
                           - If you’re struggling with coming up with questions, check out this and this, there’s a large variety of questions that you could use.
  • Make sure he understands that absolutely nothing sexual will happen on this date - There should be no sex on a first date, absolutely nothing sexual. If your POT believes that coffee/lunch/dinner/drinks and a hundred dollars should equal sex in the hotel down the block, then you leave him right there and then. We are ladies looking for gentlemen with the means to provide for us and support us. If he’s only interested in sex in exchange for money, then he’s looking for an escort, not a sugar baby. (Note: if sex in exchange for money is what you’re looking for, then go right ahead and make that cash, every girl is allowed to make her own choices!)
  • Agree to meet in a PUBLIC place - Always meet for the first time in a public place (A restaurant, coffee shop, bar, hotel lounge/lobby, etc) because your safety and comfort comes first! If he invites you up to his hotel room for a drink, decline by saying that is something you would love to do sometime, but would feel better meeting in a public space first. If you starts arguing or does not agree to this, drop him. You don’t need to waste your time on an asshole like him.
                 ‣ Additionally:
                          - Have your own transportation to and from your meet! Do not get into his car thinking you’ll save a little cash, even if he was kind and definitely legitimate! Personally: I don’t let POT’s get me an Uber home either, I don’t feel comfortable with them knowing my exact address.
  • Ask for a gift - While this isn’t something that is necessary to do, it’s something that I do. If you’re aiming for a gift, make sure to ask after you have made plans to meet or at least a day before you meet, this gives the POT time to either go shopping for you or go to an ATM for some cash. If you’re aiming for travel compensation, then feel free to ask a few hours before or even during the date, travel compensation is something usually all POT’s will agree to. This or this are the ways I use to ask, either one usually work flawlessly.
                 ‣  Keep in mind
                         - It is not a red flag if he declines to bring you a gift! At this point in your relationship, he owes you just as much as you owe him, which is nothing. If he declines, just say that’s it’s okay and then (if you still want a little cash) try the travel compensation method.
  • Text to confirm - One of the worst things is dolling yourself up and then coming out to meet, only to find that your POT actually couldn’t make it. That’s why it’s important to confirm your meeting a few hours before in a quick little text.
  • Stay SAFE - Safety has always and will always be the number one thing in the sugar bowl which is why you need to make sure you have at least one person who know’s who you’re meeting, where, and when. If you don’t feel comfortable telling anyone you know in real life, message me and I will gladly be your safety contact. In addition to having a safety contact, it is always a good idea to carry around a bottle of mace with you, for creepy POT’s and creepy men in general.

During Your Meet

  • Make an entrance - Often, the first part of the conversation happens before you open your mouth, sometimes it happens before you’ve even laid eyes on them. When you enter any room, have your head up and your shoulders down. Don’t strut, but walk gracefully, swaying your hips gently, you can even look up videos of models on catwalks and learn how to walk like they do. Be dramatic, walk like you’re the center of attention - you’re a sugar baby: you’re young, stunning, and seductive. Pause in the entrance and survey the room slowly, let your eyes to travel from one side of the room to the other, until you locate your POT. It may sound a little silly, but a proper entrance will captivate anyone, especially your POT. Knowing how to walk properly and make an entrance is useful in practically every aspect of your life, not just in sugaring.
  • Keep the focus on them - I’ve noticed that POT’s (and SD’s in general really) love to talk about themselves, some SB’s will even go as far as to say that these men don’t care about the things you say unless it directly relates to them (in my experience this isn’t always true, it depends on the man). Try to find a way to refocus the conversation about him, you will easily become his favorite person to speak to.
                ‣ Additionally:
                         - If he shows pride, you give praise. If he says something, then pauses, and looks at you significantly, he’s waiting for the applause. Be there to give it to him. You don’t even have to think what he did was impressive. You just have to be there ready to dispense a pat on the back  Do not be over dramatic, smile, look impressed, and stroke his ego.
  • Pay attention when he speaks - Be engaged in the conversation: ask questions to further your understanding of the topic, make comments to indicate that you are paying attention, laugh a little to signal that you are having fun, smile to show that you enjoy being in his company, and make eye contact! If you look a person in the eye, it signals that you not only hear what they’re saying but are interested in it. If you have to look away do it slowly, this reinforces your interest and enjoyment of what you’re hearing.
  • Don’t fidget - It ruins your credibility. Often, stillness is compared with integrity. Those that can look someone in the eye and sit still are usually believed over those that try to say something while squirming in their seat. It’s important to have good posture as well, don’t slump in your seat and if you do, catch yourself and correct your posture.
               ‣  Don’t worry:
                        - Your hair looks fine, your clothing fits you well, and your phone will not explode if you don’t check it for an hour. Your main focus should be your POT, not the little things about your appearance.
  • Relax - You might be a little nervous over the first date, but chances are, he probably is too! Some SD’s are nervous the first time meeting, this might be due to the fact that you’re much younger than he is or he might be downright intimidated because of your looks. Your job is to make him feel at ease and the easiest way to help him feel at ease is to be at ease yourself. People play off each other’s energies and your body language speaks volumes, so try your best to just relax.
  • End on a good note - End the date with a hug or a handshake (or a kiss on the cheek, if you like him), something physical so that you touch and it leaves him wanting a little more. If you went out for lunch/dinner, tell him how thankful you are for taking you out, how much you loved the food, and how he has great taste in restaurants

After Your Meet

  • Assessing him - A person’s appearance and demeanor speaks volumes about them. Observe not his wallet, his cufflinks, or his shoes, but his mannerisms, his eloquence, and his overall conduct. Many good sugar daddies may not look the part, but they will act it. There’s no forcing chemistry, so it’s best to figure that out right away before delving deeper.
                  ‣ Questions to think about:

    - Does he ask you first what you want to eat?
                         - Is he interested in what you’re saying?
                         - How does he talk about his family, his employees?
                         - Is he nice to the waitstaff?
                         - How much is he tipping?
                         - Were your personalities compatible?
                         - Did you have a lot in common?
                         - Was it easy to hold a conversation with him, or were there awkward silences?
                         - Is this someone you’d be comfortable being seen in public with, going on vacations with, and generally spending time with?
  • Send a follow up text - If the date went well, shortly after you meet (a few hours or a day, at most), send the POT/SD a text saying that it was a pleasure meeting him and you’d love to see him again. When (or if) he responds, you might be able to schedule your next date!
  • Think about your loses - If the date didn’t go so well, you got a free coffee/lunch/dinner/gift. If your POT contacts you and asks you out again, decline politely and wish him luck finding what he’s looking for.

Allowance Talk - Yes Or No?

There’s a lot of disagreement on whether or not you should speak about allowance with your POT on a first date. I’ve had POT’s bring up numbers over text/on the phone/email (prior to meeting and after meeting) and during coffee/lunch/dinner/drinks. In my opinion, let him bring up the allowance talk.

  • If he does, express your desires concerning allowances, gifts, and how the arrangement will work. Most arrangements end due to schedule conflicts and misunderstanding expectations, be clear about what you want.
  • If he doesn’t, that’s completely fine too. You’ll most likely speak about it on your second date or over some electronic format.
  • If you touch on the subject but you notice he’s not too keen on delving into it at the moment, leave it alone. This sends your POT the message that you’re more interested in a suitable arrangement than the money, as well as that you are nowhere near desperate and while you are interested in him, not overly so. This lack of overt interest gives you more control of the relationship from the get-go. It also shows that he cannot control you or gain your interest with his money alone. This makes it easier for you to discuss the terms of the relationship, set boundaries, and negotiate your allowance later on.

What to Wear

Men are visual creatures, they love eye-catching arm candy, but most prefer elegance or casual classy to outright flashy. However, showing all your goods on the first meeting is not a good idea. Choose one thing to show off, this leaves his imagining and wanting more. Keep in mind where you’re meeting, as well. There’s no need to go all out if you’re just meeting for coffee.

  • If you’re meeting for coffee - Jeans and a pretty blouse will be just fine, top it off with flats or boots and you’ll be good to go. If it’s warmer out, a sundress is perfectly acceptable too.
                ‣  Keep in mind
                        - Meeting a POT for the first time in shorts is not appropriate, there is no need to play up the age difference between the two of you, even if it is hot outside.
  • If you’re meeting for lunch/dinner/drinks - A formfitting dress will do you good, especially if it’s dinner or drinks. Complete the look with a nice pair of heels and some jewelry, if you’re having trouble figuring out which jewelry to wear with what, check out this!
  • Makeup - Keep the makeup light and natural, opt for neutral colors rather than darker ones. Get your nails done, fill in your brows, foundation, mascara, light colored eye shadow, and lipstick/lip-gloss is all you’ll need. I prefer to top up my look with a slightly red nude lip (since my lips are full and the color makes them pop more), even though most SB’s suggest to stay away from all red’s.

So there you have it dolls, an ultimate guide to POT dates. Feel free to add on your own tips! Keep sugaring, dolly xoxo

My All-Time Top Ten Favourite Fanfics

I’ve thought about doing this list for quite a while now. Let me tell you why.

Being part of a fandom is, for the most part, quite awesome. However, being a fanfic writer can be quite daunting and discouraging, especially if you don’t get the feedback you’re looking for. As a writer myself, I just want to spread the love and point people towards some amazing, amazing works I’ve loved and have been inspired by since I was a mere thirteen year-old discovering ff.net for the first time. I really, really hope you guys check these stories out. In my humble opinion, they are even better than some original novels that have been published over the years. (*cough* Twilight *cough*)

At the end of the post, I’ve tagged TEN people here on Tumblr. I hope these people who are tagged will share ten of their all-time favourite fics and tag ten more people, and hopefully, we can keep this whole ‘support for fanfic authors’ thing going for a while yet. Fingers crossed! :)

1. The Life and Times (Harry Potter) by Jewels5 ( @itreallyatemyhand ) - The story of James and Lily’s sixth and seventh year at Hogwarts, and how they fall in love. This fic remains THE fic for me; it is practically canon in my mind.  If you’re a long-time Harry Potter fanfic reader, you’d probably have heard of TLAT. This fic has its own fandom, for God’s sake. (It’s even been mentioned in a Buzzfeed article? Whattt?) But if you haven’t heard of it, START READING IT NOW. I can’t gush enough about how well-plotted and well written this story is. It has inspired my own writing throughout the years and I’ve reread it more than five times. It physically pains me that it might never be finished, but don’t let this stop you from enjoying these 36 chapters. They will make you laugh, they will make you cry, they will make you fall in love, and trust me when I say - you won’t ever be disappointed. I still come back to this story every now and then, and every time, I fall in love with it a little bit more. - Multi-chapter on ff.net

2. The Queen Susan in Tashbaan, Part 2 of the Stone Gryphon (Narnia) by @rthstewart - The Pevensies aiding the British war effort in WWII. If you’re a history lover and a Narnia fan, you MUST read this story. The amount of history woven into this series is simply awe-inspiring. The plot still floors me, even after all these years. And the characters - both the canon ones and the original ones - are written and expanded so beautifully. Not only that, there is a lot of heart to this story and a very real, very palpable sense of bittersweetness to everything. - Multi-chapter on AO3

3. A Sea of Golden Sand (Narnia) by Andi Horton - The events of “The Horse and His Boy” through the perspectives of the Pevensies. This is everything - I repeat - EVERYTHING you’d want from a Golden-Age Narnia fic. This story chronicles the events leading up to the final battle at Anvard, from Rabadash’s visit to Narnia to Aravis and Shasta coming to Archenland. It is incredibly, incredibly well-written, filled with humour, heart, and amazing characters. And although it was published in 2007, most stories in the Narnia fandom don’t even come close to this level of badassery! Edmund, one of my favourite characters ever, is pretty much swoon-worthy in this. I’m legitimately in love with this version of Edmund. - Multi-chapter on ff.net

4. Troubles Melt Like Lemon Drops (Narnia) by Francienyc - The Pevensies navigating life in England after they’re not allowed to go back to Narnia. Lots of sibling bonding in this one, but by God, the simplicity and the subtleness of their pain! It has been years, but I still think of this fic every once in a while, and it still chokes me up a little. - One-shot on ff.net

5. Hung Out to Dry (Narnia) by @rthstewart - Jill/Eustace but with an angsty, heartbreaking twist. Despite how short it is, it is still one of my favourite things I’ve ever read. The aesthetics, the silences, the unrequited love - this story has it all. Every time I read it, I find myself still getting emotional by the simplest of sentences. In short, just exquisite. - One-shot on AO3

6. Fools (Harry Potter) by lyin’ ( @thegirlwholied ) - The First Order of the Phoenix, with the Marauders, the Prewett twins, and Marlene Mckinnon. I remember crying my eyes out the first time I read this story, years and years ago. Yes, there are a ton of First Order fics out there. But please trust me when I say - none of them is quite like this one. This story will undoubtedly shatter you, but in the best of ways. - Multi-chapter on AO3

7. In Their Autumn Beauty (Harry Potter) by lyin’ ( @thegirlwholied ) - The teenagers of the First Order of the Phoenix as seen through the eyes of the much older, much more jaded Dorcas Meadowes. This story is only 2,000 words long, but it has stayed with me for years and years. It is so, so beautiful. Please. Just read it. I beg you. It’ll take you only ten minutes, maybe. You won’t regret it. - One-shot on ff.net

8. Joy in the Mourning (Narnia) by Andi Horton - The Pevensies during the Blitz in London, after they’re not allowed to go back to Narnia. I also remember crying when I first read this. (Yes, there really is a pattern here; I do cry a lot.) This story really captures what the Narnia books are about: finding joy and hope amidst despair. - One-shot on ff.net

9. The Death of Kings (A Song of Ice and Fire) by La Reine Noire  ( @poorshadowspaintedqueens ) - The events leading up to and of Robert’s Rebellion through the perspectives of the Dead Ladies Club, primarily Lyanna Stark, Ashara Dayne, and Elia Martell. Usually, I’m not a fan of fics about Robert’s Rebellion; I find most authors’ take of the events hard to believe and the characters not well fleshed out. This story, however, is EPIC and SO well-written, you’d think it was canon while you’re reading it! I cried buckets at the end, of course. If you’re a fan of the ASOIAF books, definitely give this one a try. - Multi-chapter on AO3

10. Corellian Gin (Rogue One) by guineapiggie ( @ruby-red-inky-blue ) - Jyn/Cassian surviving Scariff, with bits told through the eyes of Bodhi. Of course, I had to squeeze in a Rogue One fic somehow, but I really had a hard time choosing ONE story from my old writing partner, guineapiggie. I nearly chose “The World Through A Scope”“Beinahe”, or something from the series that we wrote together (”Happy Endings”/ “Where’s My Love?”), but I settled on this one instead because it is one of the first Rogue One fics I read that made me tear up. I LOVE a bit of well-written romantic angst, and this story has it in spades. - One-shot on AO3

.

HONOURABLE MENTIONS (because I can’t quite help myself):

Harry Potter - Anything by lyin’ ( @thegirlwholied ), especially Brackets (Sirius/Marlene), Stray Thought (Sirius/Marlene), and the No, Nay, Never series (the First Order of the Phoenix).

Narnia - Firstly, anything by Andi Horton, especially King’s Champion (Edmund-centric) and The Better Part (Pevensies bonding). Secondly, The Delight of My Eyes (Aravis/Shasta) by Francienyc. And lastly, Rat and Sword Go To War (Pevensies in WWII) by @rthstewart , as well as the rest of her The Stone Gryphon series.

Rogue One - Resistance is Built On Hope (WWII AU) by ChronicOlicity, Floating, Sinking (fix-it fic) by @shu-of-the-wind, the violet hour (Jyn/Cassian modern au) by caramelle or @mellamymake, the road that sets into the sun (a beautiful Jyn/Cassian in the SW Legends-verse) by lyin’ ( @thegirlwholied ), and all the angsty Jyn/Cassian stories by guineapiggie ( @ruby-red-inky-blue ).

And don’t worry! You guys don’t have to write these long reviews for each of your recommendation like I did; I was simply bored and overzealous! :)

If you’re not tagged, but have seen this on your dash and want to jump in on the action, please feel free to make your own list and tag ten more people. Let’s show appreciation for fanfic writers who put so much work and time into writing these stories we love so much! <3

Here’s the thing.

I am a transgender man (see photo of my mug for context).

I love all trans people and I love non binary people. But lately some of my trans spaces (both on the web and irl) that are mainly non binary have started to feel a little hostile.

I want to make something perfectly clear before I continue - I love and respect non binary people, I think their genders are valid and I am in no way suggesting they are any less important that myself or any other binary trans person. I also need you to understand that this isn’t meant to be a post calling out non binary people at all, it is just me talking about my personal experiences in the hope that it can get people to be a little more considerate sometimes?

In university spaces, it seems that there is a growing population of non binary people that tends to dominate trans groups. Which is good in lots of ways, especially since it shows how this generation has become much more relaxed and aware that gender is a construct and fluidity is key. However, amongst people I know there is a lot of ‘ew gross men’, or 'ew gross trans men that are masculine’, while at the same time being predominantly DFAB populations.

Now trust me, I very much understand the dislike a lot of dfab trans people have of men. A lot of us are survivors and I think that does play a big part in how we feel about the gender overall. Not to mention it is not uncommon for men to be, for lack of a better word- wankers. However, I don’t think people consider trans men when we are talking about this.

Making a comment like 'ew men are so fucking gross’ to a room of trans people means that to a trans man you are saying one of two things - 1) you are gross, or 2) you aren’t gross because you’re not a Real Man, and you are excluded from this statement because you are and always will be, partly a woman. Even now I feel uncomfortable 'complaining’ about this. I have to remind myself that just as suggesting that a trans woman is somehow different to other women would be considered incredibly offensive, so is it for trans men.

I didn’t realise how much this stuff affected me until it did. Constantly being around people that talk about, how body hair on men is gross, masculinity is by default toxic, making jokes about my masculinity being toxic when I excitedly tell people that I’ve started going to the gym and its making me feel better about my body. No, it’s not funny. It’s MY dysphoria I’m trying to ease. I as a trans person want to feel supported and loved when I do things that have a chance of making me feel good about my body.

It hit me like a brick wall when I realised how much it had affected me. I was with my partner, and was trying to have sex, but I just broke down. I felt so incredibly disgusted with my body and myself. So much hair, so masculine. The noises I made, gross. The way I touched him, creepy. I couldn’t get out of my head the idea that later in life he would talk to people about how gross and unshaven I was, just like I had heard friends describe ex boyfriends so many times before.

I felt cheated because these were the changes I WANTED my body to make. But now they felt ruined. Spoiled.
It was after that realisation that I decided I had to get out. I stopped going to some of student socials and instead started attending a group for older trans people. It was so refreshing to meet other trans men for once (just because I rarely meet them at uni, and it was nice to talk to someone similar.) It was awesome to be around people who weren’t shitty about trans people being stealth (as I remember I once was.)

There are some important things to take away from all of this:

1) Telling trans boys and men that they are disgusting for wanting to be like men will only destroy self esteem and feed into the toxic environment that a lot of cis boys grow up in.

2) Non binary people are extremely valid and awesome, but also must accept they have a responsibility to cultivate a supportive and friendly atmosphere in spaces where they are dominant (I put this in here for university spaces especially)

3) Laughing at a trans man/woman for being excessively masc/fem presenting if you are a dfab nb person who mainly presents as fem or androgynous is facetious and not respecting that they may have to present that way to stay safe, (especially in the case of trans women that may be more 'obviously trans’) and that despite suffering prejudice in many ways, the one thing you are not realistically facing is street violence and such because you inevitably are not going to be clocked as trans. (which yes, does NOT make your transness invalid but we have to respect the different struggles people in our community face.)

4) Someone being stealth does not mean they are adhering to 'toxic gender roles’. It means they are either 1) trying to be safe or 2) surprise surprise they want to live their life as the gender they identify with. Trans people are not less legitimately trans because you think they are 'acting cis’.

5) Being a binary trans person does not give you privilege over nb people. Like seriously, trans women are literally the most likely to be murdered. Don’t be a dick. Erasure is a problem yes but it’s not the same. I read names out at the TDOR vigil and pretty much all of them were trans women of colour. Respect that. Help the community. This isn’t about scoring points over who has it the shittiest.

6) The idea that the only good kinda of trans men are 'soft sensitive kinda trans masc guys that don’t have surgeries and shave all their body hair’ is shitty and offensive (tho that kind of trans man is totally valid, that not what i mean). Its shitty because one you’re sexualising them either as more childlike or more feminine (both is rude, former is creepy), but its perpetuating the idea that trans men aren’t really men and the best ones are the ones that YOU think still kinda look suitably enough like women.

Note: Not really a revenge story on my part, but I believe this is a fine example of cosmic revenge for a larger hole. Long story, TL:DR at the end.

About seven years ago, I was in my sophomore year of high school. Let me just mention this, I was not your typical student:

  • I came from one of the poorest family in this town of three thousand. My dad was physically disabled for years before this and had been unemployed since I was in third grade. This left my mom the only working member of my family until my dad was put on disability. My dad, however, did not get put on disability UNTIL my sophomore year of high school, so around eight years, my mom was the only one working. In fact, there were times when I didn’t even get new clothes to wear for a new year as we couldn’t afford it.
  • I am legally mentally disabled. I was diagnosed with Asperger Syndrome in eighth grade and, legally, should have been in some special classes. This led the school to alter my schedule without my permission and resulted in my mom’s wrath to the school.
  • I am clinically depressed and went through a time when I did not take my medication as it made me aggressive. I have since switch medications and have become a lot calmer as a result.

Song Review: Taylor Swift’s ‘Look What You Made Me Do’

By: Chris Willman for Variety
Date: August 25th 2017

Well, it’s not just the lipstick that got darker. Taylor Swift sounds like she is never, ever getting back together with her old ingénue image in “Look What You Made Me Do,” the first piece of fresh solo music she’s released since 2014. This is hardly Swift’s first time playing defense in song, but the tone of the tune is intended to get you thinking the bad blood she sang about three years ago has seeped a little deeper into her bone marrow. For these three-and-a-half minutes, at least, she’s an even badder Type A.

This introductory track from her upcoming “reputation” album (due out Nov. 10; the small R is hers) feels like the un-celebratory flip side to the previous album’s leadoff single, “Shake It Off.” The catharsis and playfulness are a little harder to pick out in this one, though they’re there, if you listen hard enough, amid some textures and lyrics that sound a little on the grim side on first listen, and maybe second or third play, too. “I got smarter, I got harder in the nick of time,” she sings, in case anyone is still imagining her with that 2006 curl in her hair.

But if you’re au courant enough on all things Taylor to think that maybe those short clips of snakes she started posting the other day represented a desire for some skin-shedding, or that she really intended to send a signal when she wiped all her social media clean, Swift essentially confirms that with a spoken-word aside here: “I’m sorry, the old Taylor can’t come to the phone right now. Why? Oh, because she’s dead!”

Actually, it’s not just that late interlude that’s spoken-word; it’s the entire chorus, which consists of the title phrase, slightly amended, repeated over and over, over a throbbing-bass rhythm, as if she and producer Jack Antonoff had designs on doing an electro-clash update of the boom-car classic “Supersonic.”  (It’s the writers of Right Said Fred’s “I’m Too Sexy” who get a co-writing credit for a perceived similarity, though.) It’s part of the cleverness of the song that the tune’s pre-chorus seems to be building up to something big, only to drop into something so flatly stated, steely-eyed, and subwoofer-based. Whatever grander hooks she has in store (and based on past experience, you’d have to imagine there will be plenty on “reputation”) will have to wait until after this alluringly scowling teaser trailer of a single.

Who’s it about? Given how little of Swift’s previous work belongs in the fiction category, it’s a reasonable question, and one that’ll probably break certain sections of the Internet for at least the next few days. “How you laugh when you lie / You said the gun was mine” could be about a certain celebrity ex who publicly cast blame on her for a breakup, or about a certain perennial sparrer who leaked her phone calls to the world. Maybe the net should be cast wider, to a whole world of haters, as Swift sings about karma and adds, distressingly: “I don’t trust nobody and nobody trusts me.” That’s plasma, not tears, on her (MIA) guitar.

But it’s not exactly a victim song. “Honey, I rose up from the dead, I do it all the time” is the ultimate I-eat-feuders-like-you-for-breakfast line. And it’s a sign that, besides undoubtedly being legitimately angry, she’s still having a bit of fun here. “Look What You Made Her Do” makes the superstar sound like a tougher chick than the tougher chick we were already getting to know, but there’s also the undeniable element of Swift being a girl who just wants to have fun… the fun, that is, of playing around with her own fury.

THAT THING WHEN KIDS POINT AT YOU YELLING QUESTIONS WHEN YOU ARE VISIBLY DISABLED

It kinda sucks. It really sucks. I like kids and I work with kids and I’m totally used to it and it still sucks. It hurts my feelings.

I didn’t become disabled and get an instant magical free training in how to teach kids about disability and diversity. I also didn’t sign up for a delicate unpaid education-and-outreach job every time I go to the frickin’ grocery store. (I actually don’t have time for that).

BUT. And this is a big butt.

I am actually learning to love it, this stupid important unpaid job that I didn’t even get to choose.

I know I know, I have an unfair advantage because I already thought kids were ridiculous and hilarious to begin with. And I worked with them before I started using a wheelchair. But working with kids and having to have the disability conversation in so many iterations so many times over is teaching me a whole lot about this whole situation! And it got much less stressful after I realized this helpful key secret:

kids don’t actually have a problem with disability.

Especially compared to the adults you encounter who will or won’t ask about it and will or won’t hire you or date you or what-have-you, so many kids have absolutely no problem with disability. Unless the media // the adults around them have gotten to their brains before you, this whole conversation might be alarmingly simple, quick, and painless:

SCENARIO 1:

“hey why are you on that?” [“on that” refers to my wheelchair].

(whenever possible I put down what I’m doing in order to smile and make eye contact for this. It will probably be less than 20 seconds).

“oh my wheelchair? Great question! I have a disability that makes my bones crack easily, so it’s safer and faster for me to use a wheelchair sometimes. It’s just how I help my body be at its best!”

“oh!”

“cool right?”

“yeah!”

“did you have any other questions?” [I only throw that in on good days]

“um. nope!”

[kid goes to play]

[exhale]

My advice is to expect Scenario One. All you gotta do to prepare is have a one-sentence explanation of your assistive device / disability that you feel comfortable with. Kids do not give a shit about your diagnosis, and you don’t need to prove anything to them. All they need from you is a simple, casual answer.

I * always * explicitly use the word disability for a few reasons. I used to just casually say “I fractured my leg” which was also true, but kids learn really early on to feel pity for someone who has an injury, so they would say things like “ohh I feel bad for you” or “oh when will you get better” which always made the conversation longer and more uncomfortable. Then I realized I had a lot of power in shaping their interaction with disability (and their response to it) in these brief encounters, and also I GET TO DECIDE HOW I ANSWER! So I revised my answer to frame my injuries (and my wheels), as a normal, casual part of my life. Feel free to use my exact wording if it helps you:

“oh my wheelchair? Great question! I have a disability that   (very basic explanation)     so it’s safer and faster for me to use a wheelchair sometimes. It’s just how I help my body be at its best!”

Okay I studied sociolinguistics in college so here’s my geeky little break-down:

  • oh my wheelchair?” ← gives a nice nonchalant “oh this old thing” vibe and sends the message that it’s okay and normal to talk about wheelchairs.
  • great question!” ← teaches the child that disability is not shameful
  • I have a disability that ___” ← addresses the taboo right away, deflating any tension, awkwardness, and curiosity in the rest of the conversation. Suddenly you have all the power here, since there’s no secret anymore.
  • so it’s safer and faster for me to use a wheelchair” ← emphasizes the positive attributes of assistive devices. You could also say “it helps me do everything I want to do” or “my wheels are faster than my feet” or whatever you want. Again, simplicity works for you in this.
  • It’s just how I help my body be at its best!” ← hopefully kids are already getting some messaging about taking care of their bodies: brushing their teeth, eating a snack, sleeping enough, etc. This line should be relatable to them and also caps the conversation in a helpful way: it’s almost like saying “this is just how it is” and creates a sense of gentle, positive closure.

My personal opinion on the matter of disclosure is that the vast majority of kids don’t care at all about the fancy name of your disability. I don’t emphasize simplicity because I think kids need to be talked down to, I emphasize simplicity because it keeps the conversation clear, casual, and quick. In the adult world, disclosure is practically demanded of disabled people: even if they don’t ask, everyone wants to know what, exactly, is “wrong” with you. So my choice in not naming my specific disability in these conversations with kids is conscious and political. Not disclosing my diagnosis keeps our conversation out of the medical sphere (disabled people are so over-medicalized anyway) and gives us a chance to connect human-to-human. Some people feel that sharing a diagnosis will raise “awareness” for their illness or disability but I’m not sure that awareness is what I need from kids. I don’t need them to be aware that my bod has wonky collagen production, I need them to know how to interact with me respectfully. I’m not adamantly against specific diagnosis disclosure, (again, YOU GET TO CHOOSE what you say in these situations!) but I also don’t think it’s necessary or important and I think more often than not, it derails the conversation. Especially if you already didn’t have time for this to begin with. Guaranteed, a diagnosis disclosure will add time to this convo.

Often kids will ask what happened to you, assuming that you’ve had some kind of accident. I have a congenital disability, so even when I * have * fractured and had an ‘accident’ and that is why I’m wheeling instead of walking, I usually just casually say: “oh, nothing happened! Same old me. I have a disability…” and continue my spiel from there.

They will also ask what’s wrong with you (which is the hardest to stomach) and I do the same thing: “oh, nothing’s wrong! I just have a disability…” etc. If I’m just absolutely not in the mood or if a kid seems weirdly aggressive (which is almost never the case, but it does happen), I’ll cheerfully say “oh nothing’s wrong, but thank you so much for asking!” and that usually shuts down the conversation.

Lovelies, I know how fucking painful this is. Ugh it sucks so much. But it does get easier and gentler and sometimes kids say really goofy things that you get to laugh about later. This conversation is yours. You get to do as you please with it. Have fun. If you want, for little ones throw in an afterthought: “plus it gives me magical powers. But don’t tell anyone.” Having someone look at you like you could be legitimately fucking magical might make your day.

Hell, you ARE legitimately fucking magical. Go you for reading this and thinking about this and doing you.

love,

haley

Better Books. [Beast! Prince Adam Oneshot].

I’M SUCH TRASH. I’m pairing this with another one of my imagines: Where Adam Tells you his name.

After scanning the shelves for what seemed like hours, you had finally found the book you were looking for. Laughing softly in victory, you figured that Adam must have hidden it from you to assure that you didn’t read it again. You could hear his voice inside of your mind, ‘There are better things to read than that.’

You held the book in your hands close to your chest. Rubbing the spine gently, you felt somewhat conscious of the blue eyes lingering on you longingly from across the spacious room. Whether out of nerves or slight curiosity, you let one of your feet dangle from the ladder in the library, swinging around slightly so you could look back at Adam with a tender gaze. He was perched in a chair, sitting in what little sunlight was leaking into the castle from the overcast sky outside. Unfortunately, it wasn’t the sort of warm sunlight that soaked into your skin and made you feel a little more happy and optimistic. It was a dreary sort of sunlight that would bounce off you and create somewhat negative vibes. Fortunately though, you strode around with your own positivity the darkness that seemed to mindlessly drape around the entire residency.

By the time you looked back at him, he tried his best to seem completely invested in the book instead of the back of your head, but you knew better. It was something new between the two of you and has become more and more frequent. The stolen glances, as if it were forbidden to actually look at one another and allow yourself to be caught doing so. You had only stumbled upon the castle a month ago, and between then and now, he has actually warmed up to you surprisingly well. After all, it had only been a week or so since he felt comfortable telling you his name so you didn’t have to stumble around what to call him exactly.

Stepping off the ladder with a small ‘thud’ as you jumped onto the marble floor, you studied the book in your hand and made your way to the seat across from him. Adam noticed of course, watching you from his peripherals as you sauntered your way towards him and sat down.

Adam cleared his throat, setting his book down in his lap. “What’ve you got there?” He inquired, using his head to gesture to the gently worn out book in your hands. If he moved just right in his spot, the dim sunlight coming in through the large windows shined off his horns, somewhat reminding you of how water shimmered in the light.

You seemed a bit shameful when you answered quietly, “Romeo And Juliet.”

“Uhck.” He murmured softly, scrunching his face in mind disgust, “Have you not read that enough? It’s such a tragic story. The romance, the pining, the unforgiving end. That book will be in three pieces by the time you’re done with it. There’s so many books here, why choose the same one over and over?” Adam’s curiosity was legitimate. He never saw the wonder in romance like you seemed to. To him, they all seemed the same and never seemed to have the absolutely ideal ending.

You laughed quietly, “It may be. At least it’s a book that you don’t seem to care about. I’m sure I could set it on fire and you’d probably be very happy that I did.” Shrugging your shoulders, you rubbed the spine once again and answered simply, “It’s a bittersweet tale. I like that it’s not perfect. That’s what makes it enjoyable. Anyway, why does it matter what I read? It’s not like you’re the one reading it.”

He nodded his head in agreement. Thankfully, he wasn’t the one reading it, but he still argued, a bit more innocent and playful this time, “Perhaps, I can show you another story that’s just as good.”

“I dare you to show me one that I’ll love more than this one.” You held the book up and sat it down on the table to your right. “You’ve read everything in here, so I’m sure you can find one.”

Adam stood up, completely towering over you before holding a paw out for you to take. You smiled at him, accepting the help and let him lift you from your seat. “I accept your challenge. I’ve got just the book.” The smile he gave you was the gentlest thing you had encountered and left your heart swimming in an unknown feeling. You wanted nothing more than to see that smile for the rest of your days. Adam hesitated, but eventually let go of your warm hand before striding to the left. You followed closely, biting down on your bottom lip.

What was the feeling in your chest? It was as if someone had lit a thousand candles and let them burn inside of you. You denied any previous thoughts of adoration for Adam, telling yourself that you couldn’t possibly feel anything more than forced friendship for someone who was keeping you here. But at this point, the sensation in your heart was making you question your own words. There was no doubt some sort of attraction between the two of you. The hidden gazes, the gentle strokes of your hand against his arm while you pass him books.

If he let you go, who’s to say you wouldn’t want to willingly stay here with him? You would stay. Even if he didn’t ask, you would stay. But, why?

“Here.” His voice boomed you back to reality. Swallowing softly, you looked up at him with reddened cheeks before letting your gaze drop to the book in his hand. Taking a shaky breath in, you took it from his hands and studied it carefully. It seemed a bit more worn than ‘Romeo and Juliet’, the spine exceedingly bent at the moment, stirring you to ask, “Have you read this a lot?”

“More than most books here. It’s one of the books my mother used to read to me when I was a child.” Adam admitted softly, letting his icy eyes admire your reaction to the book. “It’s the only romance I can actually bear to finish.” He said without thinking. “You see uh— I never finish them, usually. Romances, at least. I leave them off in the ideal place, almost….”

“Afraid of ruining it with the actual ending.” You finished his sentence for him. Adam seemed astonished that you had actually understood. Pressing it to your chest, you sighed and whispered to him, “You’re taking an opportunity away from yourself though. If you never read the ending, you’re not reading it in the way it was intended to be read. Some…” You clutched the book a bit harder, something he noticed as your knuckles were turning while, “Some stories have a happy ending that are so out of sight that you need to keep reading on. You can’t let one bad ending be the reason why you can’t enjoy other endings.”

There was no fighting your words because as Adam let them sink into his mind, he came to realize that you were completely right. He opened his mouth, ready to discourse but couldn’t find anything to say. He couldn’t. He was in such a position that you words were undoubtedly true. Before the curse, his ending was a bad one, though he prolonged it for as long as possible. It took a sharp turn and seemed even worse for a while before you came waltzing into his life, giving the slightest shimmer that perhaps even he could have a happy ending in a story otherwise full of despair, darkness and hate.

“Let me know what you think.” Adam said quietly, looking at the book in your hands. “I hope… you like it.”

Reaching up, you pressed your hand to the right side of his face and completely captivated his attention. The affection was sudden and seemed to leave Adam completely defenseless as you smiled sweetly at him. It was a tender stroke and reminded him of the last time that he had actually been touched so affectionately. It had been years. If it weren’t for the dramatic height difference, he could look at you eye to eye and if given permission, he would have kissed you. Just to see a response, to see that if getting his hopes up wasn’t just a waste now that there were only a few more petals left on the enchanted rose.

Adam was certain he could kiss you regardless, catching you off guard. The nagging voice inside of his head worried that you didn’t want it though, and so he refrained as best he could and tilted his head towards your hand.

You let your hand linger on him for much longer than needed, eventually bringing it from the side of his face to his wide shoulder before walking back to your spot in the small amount of sunlight. It was his time to follow you back. Sitting down, you stared up at him and gave a warm smile, “I’m sure I’ll love it.”

MASTERLIST

A giggle left your lips when you were attacked by your child with a hug. “Woah there sweetie, wouldn’t want to hurt yourself now would you?” you teased, picking her up. “Now, how was my princess’s first day of school?”

“Awesome!” she exclaimed happily, waving to one of her newly-made friends along the way, “My teacher is really nice.”

“Really? He seems very nice.” you noted in agreement, “Did you get into trouble?” When your daughter shook her head, you were satisfied. You helped her into the car seat seat then drove off home.

“When is daddy coming home?” [D/N] asked curiously, clearly missing her father. You smiled at her through the rearview mirror.

“He’s coming home tonight honey.” Your smile widened when your daughter’s face lit up.

“Really?!” she gasped, moving excitedly in her seat.

“Really.” you confirmed with a nod, “That means we’ll have a big dinner to welcome him home.”

As soon as you reached your house, you allowed [D/N] to play while you worked on that dinner you told her your family would have. You made sure to make your husband’s favorite, knowing that he would be exhausted. The thought of seeing his face when he walked in the door made you grin to yourself.

The day flew by in a blink of an eye and you hadn’t notice until you heard the door open and close, followed by your daughter’s excited squeal and your husband’s voice which you missed so dearly.

“Mommy! Daddy’s home!” [D/N] shouted which was accompanied by a series of loud steps and you knew that your husband was going to get tackled by a very active child.

“Hey [D/N], I missed you.” [H/N] said, giving your daughter kisses all over her face. “How was my princess’s first day of school?”

“Fun! I made friends.” she informed, “You should’ve been there.”

“I know honey, I know,” he said sadly, “but daddy had to work. I’m sorry, I tried to get home as soon as possible.” You heard your daughter ‘hmph’ but her resolve was never strong when it came to her dad.

“I know I can’t possibly make up for missing your first day, but… guess what I got you from Japan?” your husband asked cheekily.

“What? Daddy, what?!” [D/N] demanded. You finished setting up the dinner table and decided to finally go see your husband. You got there just in time to see him giving [D/N] a Snorlax plushie which made her ecstatic. You leaned against the doorframe and took a moment to take in the sight of your family.

Your small, perfect family.

You caught sight of your husband’s eyes and it was like a switch. Love, specially reserved for you, filled them in a heartbeat. “Excuse me princess,” he told your daughter, “but I think mommy deserves some kisses too.” You laughed as he slipped behind his daughter and quickly ran to you, planting a loving kiss on your lips when he made it.

“I missed you.” you whispered. As a humanitarian, your husband often flew to other countries for work. You knew he loved his work and you loved him for it, but he always rushed home because what he loved more than work was his family, especially his little girl.

“I miss you too love.” he responded, kissing your nose.

“Ewww.” [D/N] complained, making you laugh some more.

“Okay prince charming, dinner’s going to get cold.” you warned, ushering them into the dining room. You had just sat down when the doorbell rang.

“Were we… expecting a guest?” [H/N] inquired with a frown.

“No… we weren’t.” you murmured, getting up to see who it was. You opened the door cautiously and your eyes widened at the sight that greeted you.

“Dad?”

“[F/N]… it’s… been a while…” your father, the one and only Bruce Wayne, said with a slight smile.

“It has.” you agreed, but made no attempts to let him in. “It’s late, why are you here?”

Bruce glanced at his feet nervously before answering, “just wanted to see how my daughter was doing.”

“Love, who is it?” [H/N] called, walking into the hallway, but he froze when he saw you with your father. “Oh…” You turned around to glance at [H/N], flashing a gaze that plainly said ‘help me’ and you expected him to help you, but instead, your husband said, “we’re having dinner, why don’t you come in Mr Wayne?”

You sent your husband a look which he returned with that shit-eating smile that made you fall for him.

“Oh… will you be okay with that, [F/N]?” Bruce questioned, knowing fully well of your hostility. You kept staring at your husband, who was pleading for you to let your father in, when you sighed in defeat.

“Yeah,” you muttered reluctantly, “yeah I’m okay with it.”

You stepped aside and allowed your father into your home and your husband, being… your husband, greeted Bruce wholeheartedly.

“It’s an honor to meet you Mr Wayne, I’m [H/N]… [F/N]’s… uh… husband.” [H/N] extended his hand for a handshake which Bruce returned.

“Call me Bruce.” your father stated. [H/N] led Bruce into the dining room and you followed behind while also trying to muster up the courage to sit through a dinner with the father you hadn’t seen face-to-face in five years.

“Daddy, who’s that?” [D/N] asked, staring at Bruce. Your husband ruffled your daughter’s hair affectionately.

“That is your grandpa.” he answered.

“I thought I already had a grandpa.” she said, referring to your husband’s father.

“This is your other grandpa sweetie.” you said quietly. “Dad… this is [D/N], my daughter.”

And after you took a seat, the dinner began.

Your husband’s voice was faint from your position on the couch downstairs. As he was reading bedtime stories to your daughter, you sat in front of your father.

Bruce Wayne had changed over the years. You had always seen him in the media, in magazines and newspapers, but seeing him in person made you realize how much he had aged. He wasn’t young anymore yet he still had a certain strength to him.

“Your daughter looks just like you when you were her age.” he started, his eyes conveying his sadness and regret.

“I didn’t think you’d remember what I looked like.” you responded coldly. “You were always too busy.”

“I know,” Bruce admitted, “and I’m sorry.”

“You’re half a decade too late dad.” you said harshly. “When did you notice that I never visited, that I never called or even tried to communicate with you? When did you notice that I wasn’t there anymore? And when did you realize I had my own family?”

Bruce hesitated to answer which was already enough information for you. “I… Dick told me a month ago…”

You shook your head in disappointment. “And you didn’t even notice before that…”

“I’m sorry [F/N],” Bruce apologized, “I know I disappointed you.”

“Yeah, you did.” you agreed, but when you saw how genuinely miserable your father looked, you calmed down, but that didn’t mean you were through. You were far from through. “You know, I loved you, dad. I loved you so much. I used to… wait for you to come home every night and hug you and I refused to sleep until I get to do so.” A smile ghosted your father’s face as he recalled the memories. “I loved you with all my heart, but you never loved me with all of yours.”

Bruce nodded, accepting your statements as they were true. He didn’t love you enough and he regretted that. All he wished was to be able to turn back time so you were given the love that you deserved.

“I know that I missed your life.” he whispered, “your first concert, your high school graduation, your college graduation and… even your wedding and your child, which I didn’t even know about… I missed so much.” He reached out to hold your hands. “And I know that I can’t do anything to change that. It may seem like a lie coming from me, but I do want to be part of your life, and I understand if it’s a little late but I’d rather start late than not start at all.”

You stayed silent through his entire speech. “What I’m asking you, really, is… give your old man another chance [F/N].” Bruce continued, “I may be the world’s worst father but I still want to be a father.”

You let out a small laugh but the tears in your eyes betrayed the expression you were trying to give off. “You know… you had your entire life to prove yourself and you didn’t. I forgave you time and time and time again and for what?” A few tears fell. “Empty seats at every important moment in my life. Being brushed off when I greet you every time you come back. Being cast aside for my other more talented siblings. I hated that feeling, that feeling of being completely nothing to my own dad. I hated it! So no, I don’t want to give you another chance!”

Bruce nodded sadly. “I understand–”

“But no matter how much I don’t want to give you that chance…” you continued, “a bigger part of me still wants you in my life…” you wiped your eyes as tears began to cascade down your cheeks, “because in the end, I’m still a girl who loves her dad with all her heart, and I can’t bear to lose my dad.”

Your father brought you into his arms and allowed you to cry on his shoulder but the very action only caused you to cry harder because you couldn’t recall a time where he embraced you like this. You felt him kiss your head and stroke your hair like he should’ve done years ago.

And you never wanted to ever let go. You loved that feeling, for it was a feeling that for the first time, your father loved you with all his heart and he wasn’t letting go.

The station is larger than you imagined, and you’re not quite sure where you’re going. At this point you’re just following instinct. You move through the halls, Dick’s call still fresh in your mind. “Mom, it’s Bruce. You need to come now … it’s bad.” You hadn’t been able to make out anything after that, the tears had muffled his voice too much.

As you turn the final corner it’s to see your boys, and the entire league. You try not to think about how bad it must be, for those looks to be on their faces. You pause for a moment, cherishing the last few minutes that you pretend everything’s okay. Then you rush forward.

The boys see you immediately, and it takes no prompting, they rush to you. Despite having been taller than you for several years now, the oldest three seem so small, and Damian, your poor sweet baby, he seems so scared. They cling to you, and you do your best to comfort all of them assuring each of them that it’s going to be okay.

After they’ve calmed down a bit you move forward and then you stop. There’s no love lost between you and Talia. You’ve seen the woman maybe twice in the four years since Damian has come to live with you. She’s no mother in your eyes, and she certainly doesn’t have a claim to your son.

You decide to focus more on the doctor. He confirms what Dick said on the phone. It’s not looking good, and it will all depend on the surgery. There’s a less than ten percent chance that Bruce will be able to be the man he was before this. That reassures you in some weird way, Bruce has always been able to beat the odds.

Finally, you take a seat. Your back is hurting, and your ankles are swollen, and technically, you’re supposed to be in bed at the moment. But, extreme times call for extreme measures. One hand goes to rest on your protruding belly, as the boys sit down beside you.

Dick is the first one to break the silence, “So how’d your doctor appointment go? Bruce was so bummed to miss it.”

You smile at that Bruce had been to every pregnancy check before this one. He had been so upset to miss this one. You hadn’t planned this. As far as you were concerned you had your hands full with all the boys. But one glass of wine too many had led to a forgetful night.

Some part of you had expected the boys to be disappointed. But they had met the idea of a new sibling with enthusiasm. In fact, one of the boys would typically go with you and Bruce to the appointment.

“Did the doc finally tell you what you’re having?” Jason asks with a grin “It’s another boy, isn’t? Something tells me Bruce is only for making boys. Look at the squirt.”

Damian scowls at the nickname, but he doesn’t argue with Jason’s statement. If you had expected anyone to be upset about the pregnancy it had been Damian. The boy had clung to his blood tie with Bruce for so long, you had worried about him feeling threatened. Instead, he had taken to the role of big brother rather seriously.

It had started out with him and Tim inspecting everything you ate. Then he had researched everything needed for a helping a healthy baby grow. Classical music had been playing non stop around the manor. Then one day, you had walked into what had been designated as the baby’s room, just to consider paint colors, to find that it had already been painted a soft yellow.

And there was Damian, working on mural. It was this pretty field of flowers, a nature scene. For a while you had just watched him paint before all of a sudden he had simply said, “It’s going to be a girl. And she should have a happy, and pretty place to grow up. Somewhere she can always feel safe.”

You had gone to him, and pulled him in close, not worrying about the paint staining his clothes and said, “Every child should have that Damian. I can only hope Bruce and I provided that for you and your brothers.”

Damian had simply hugged you back and said, “I’ve never felt safer than when I was surrounded by this band of misfits.”

You just laughed, because of course he couldn’t call it what it is, “A family.”

Coming out of the memory you find everyone silent, and you take a moment to examine them. They’re still dressed in their uniforms and they’re covered in dirt.

Quietly you suggest they go shower and change, when they protest, you tease and say that their stench is making you feel ill. That gets them going. A few of the League members inquire after you and the baby. Eventually they too leave, and then it’s just you and her.

Neither of you says anything until you can’t take it anymore and you finally ask, “What are you doing here Talia?”

She turns to face you, radiant as ever, her eyes as cold as ever. “My son and his father needed my assistance?”

“Is that a question or an answer Talia, because I’m not buying it. The boys are too distraught to see it, and the League doesn’t know you well enough to see it, but I do. I know everything about you Talia. I’ve read every part of the file Bruce has on you, and I won’t let you do it.”

She raises an eyebrow at that, “You’d let him die? You must really want his money.” She glances at your stomach, “After all your child is legitimate, and he didn’t even have you sign a prenup.”

You roll your eyes at that, “I care about what Bruce wants, and he told me that under no circumstances was he ever to go into the Pit. If there’s one thing in this world that scares him, it’s what that goop would do to his mind.”

She studies you for a minute, “Then I suppose I’ll take Damian with me when I leave then.”

“You have no right. Bruce and I have full custody. And Damian is just as much my child as any of his brothers.”

She smiles at that, “Is he as much your child as the one in your womb? Blood is thicker than water after all.”

You can’t help but scowl, “I hate that saying, because while I may not have given birth to those boys, while I may not share their blood, I’ve raised them. I’ve attended every parent teacher conference, shown up for every play, taken care of them when they were sick, worried every time they go out on patrol, held them after a girl broke their hearts, watched them grow, watched as they became brothers, and so much more that you will never understand.” At this point you’re right in her face, because you want your meaning to me clear, “Those boys, are my children, and blood has nothing to do with it. You just try and take Damian, and you’ll be the one to need that damn goop,”

She looks down at you amused, “Big words for such a little church mouse. What’s the little pregnant housewife going to do?”

You just smile, “I wasn’t always a housewife Talia. You would know that if you were actually able to find anything on me before Bruce.”

She actually looks a little frightened now, and you know it’s your eyes, they’ve slipped into that same hardness that had made people braver than her panic. You make one last statement, “Leave now Talia, and don’t you ever threaten my children again.”

She leaves, she never turns her back on you but she leaves. You take your seat again, and wait for him to come out of the shadows. You meet Clark’s eyes, and you can finally feel the tears start to build as he wraps an arm around you, you let them out. He just holds you while you cry, because he knows. He and Bruce are the only ones that know about your past, and he knows that it’s Bruce that keeps you grounded, that Bruce is the one that keeps you from slipping. And he knows that if Bruce Wayne dies, as soon as you’re able to, you’ll hunt down the bastard who caused it. And he knows that he’ll have to be the one to stop you.

For that reason Clark Kent prays that Bruce Wayne pulls through, for the boys, for you, and for your unborn baby girl.

Ok I know Halloween was a lifetime ago, but could you consider writing abt test of courage in high school!RFA, V & Saeran included? With MC ending up their partner? I think in Japan they have this kind of a school activity. Cue: accidental (or not) handholding, maybe hugs, furious blushing afterwards :3

Cute prompt! Hope you like it:)

Zen:

  • You were peer-pressured into participating in the test of courage
  • You were told just to pick a partner, and Zen not so subtly scoots next to you
  • “Oh, MC, you do not have a partner? What a coincidence. Me neither!”
  • The first few minutes into the cave where the test was held was not bad
  • There were cheesily masked teachers and bad decorations
  • But Zen kept asking if you were scared….and you really weren’t
  • You’re halfway through when you trip on a loose stone and stumble into his arms
  • He thinks you latched onto him because you had seen some frightening message on the wall
  • But really you were using to balance yourself
  • That didn’t use it as an excuse to keep holding onto his arm
  • You’re almost to the end and you actually see a light when someone in a cheap ghost costume pops out at you
  • It’s the only time you two actually scream and hug each other
  • You have one of those awkward untangling moments before walking out
  • You didn’t let go of his hand for the rest of the day though

Yoosung:

  • He just randomly agreed to do it and picked a stick to find his partner
  • When he found out it was you, he started to low key get nervous because he had the biggest crush on you
  • You two start out and there is a huge silence for a little bit
  • But then he starts rambling…
  • “Are you scared? If you get scared, feel free to hold onto me. When I get scared, sometimes I like to imagine that….”
  • He’s talking so much that when a teacher pops out and says “boo!” he doesn’t even notice
  • You guys progress through the scary house and it’s actually getting creepy
  • Just as you’re about to grab his hand, someone pops out in a matted gorilla suit
  • You guys hear a familiar voice going “hoo-ha-hoo-ha!”
  • Yoosung starts yelling at Seven
  • Seven pulls off mask and starts whispering loudly how he’s trying to play wingman for Yoosung
  • “But why are you in a gorilla suit!”
  • “Look…the school budget was low, okay?”
  • At this point, you burst out laughing
  • You’re not looking where you’re going and stumble sideways into Yoosung’s arms
  • Seven gives you both a thumbs up before disappearing
  • The experience may not have been what Yoosung wanted, but seeing your bright smile at the end made it worth it

Jaehee:

  • You two chose each other right away because you both are super close
  • Jaehee is surprisingly antsy through the whole thing
  • It wasn’t the scenery that got her, it was just having things jumping out of dark threw her off
  • You knew you had to do something when she almost judo flipped a teacher
  • You started to do different impressions of the other RFA members
  • “Don’t worry, Jaehee! I’ll protect you!” You say in your best Zen impression
  • This gets her giggling and makes her less uptight
  • She returned the favor when the place actually did start to get eerie, making you a bit on edge
  • She linked her arm with yours when she saw you flinch
  • She didn’t let go as you went through the worst part
  • Even when you left the cave, you still didn’t realize your arms were still linked
  • Oh well….you guys skip around sillily looking at the other attractions together

Jumin:

  • Your entire class was told to pick partners
  • It all happened so fast that you and Jumin were the only ones looking around dazed
  • So your teachers just threw you together and pushed you forward first  with nothing but two candles to light the way
  • He’s analyzing all the jumpscares
  • Goes so far as to give you psychological facts about when and where things are placed to make a full effect
  • At some point, your candle gets blown out
  • As he’s trying to relight it with his own, his also gets blown out….leaving you both in a haunted cave in the dark
  • You suggest to hold hands so you don’t get lost
  • You notice Jumin uncharacteristically stammering whenever he speaks to you now
  • Poor guy is just super nervous being so close to you
  • Meanwhile, a volunteering student waiting behind the scenes are expecting candles…so one of them ended up tripping over Jumin’s shoe in the dark, toppling him over
  • All you hear is, “Boo–AHHH!”
  • Someone comes over with a light
  • The student is trying to get up but he keeps slipping on the wet rocks, and Jumin is just so done so he’s just laying on the ground looking dead inside
  • After that whole mess is over and you two are finally outside, you start laughing over the whole thing
  • “Sorry that happened to you though, Jumin.”
  • “I wouldn’t have minded if it were you who had fallen into my arms.”
  • “W-what’s that supposed to mean?”
  • “Oh look…they have cotton candy over there.”

Seven:

  • Your class had to pull sticks…and you certainly weren’t his partner
  • Oh, well. He could fix that
  • A few bribes later and you two were walking in together
  • He’s liked you for awhile, so he’s really trying to impress you
  • Speaking of bribes, he also got information from the students running the test of courage
  • He knew exactly what would pop out and when so he didn’t end up screaming like a baby
  • You do get scared at most of the things, but you end up laughing at yourself right after
  • Which gets him laughing too, so you’re just both stumbling through in laughter
  • Unfortunately, one of the students didn’t get Seven’s bribe memo
  • He jumped out near the end with a legitimately scary costume and fake blood
  • You and Seven scream at the top of your lungs
  • You two are clutching onto to each other for dear life as you stumble back into a corner
  • You both just stay there in a moment of shock as the student disappears behind the scenes again
  • You start giggling, “I’m pretty sure your scream was higher than mine, Seven…”
  • “What? No! It was the–er–echo!”
  • At this point, you guys were at the end anyway so you walk out together…holding hands
  • You don’t even remember when he grabbed your hand, but you weren’t complaining

Saeran:

  • When it was time to choose partners, no one in the class wanted to pair up with Saeran
  • Even though he seemed like he didn’t care, you felt bad and came to stand beside him
  • He really wasn’t scared of any of the teachers or students jumping out of the dark
  • If anything, they were scared of him
  • They’d pop out with a scary sound, he would glare, and they would retreat
  • You guys get to the middle, and you’re actually starting to feel a little uneasy
  • You want to hold Saeran’s hand, but you’re not sure how he’d feel about it
  • But its getting darker, and you two can’t get separated
  • You slowly reach out for his hand and take it
  • Surprisingly, he doesn’t object
  • He’s actually trying to comfort you, explaining that there’s nothing to be scared of since there’s just the teachers and the scared feeling is just a mind trick
  • When you leave, you try to let go of his hand, but he doesn’t let you
  • He doesn’t say anything and appears casual, but he’s holding onto your hand tightly for most of the day

V:

  • He could tell you wanted to go in
  • But he could also tell you didn’t want to go in alone, so he offered himself
  • You actually have the time of your life, not because of the atmosphere, but because of V
  • He was usually calm and collected, but he kept flinching every time there was a jumpscare
  • You found it very cute
  • When you boldly pointed it out to him, you could see a slight blush creep into his cheeks
  • You find it really funny how his conversations are
  • You two are in the middle of the dark in some eerie place
  • And V starts talking about different philosophies and the meaning of life
  • It’s all very endearing
  • You somehow manage to slip your hand into his somewhere along the way
  • At first he’s a little tense, but by the end he’s holding onto your hand firmly

Can I request RFA reacting to MC proposing to them? c: Was thinking about that earlier today !! lol

I’ve read this HC before and I loooooovee ittttt sooo much I love this headcanon aaaaa I hope you guys like it as much as I do!! -Green

Yoosung:

-honestly, it wasn’t planned at all. Kinda. You did have a whole plan for a date, very romantic and a night to remember for sure.

-but when you woke up and saw Yoosung right there, sleeping so peacefully, you just had to do it. God, you just had to marry this man. Right now .

-so you get out of bed as quietly as you can, and you whip him up a sweet cup of coffee that he taught you from his barista club, and some strawberry pancakes with whip cream

-this boy loves sweet things so you write on the side of the plate with caramel ‘will you marry me, baby?’

-you did some basic latte art on his coffee, just a simple heart but you thought it was cute

-you put it all on a small tray and brought it over to the bedroom, where Yoosung was still sleeping

-you set the tray down on the nightstand, and sit right next to him, petting his hair and kissing his shoulders and cheeks to wake him up

-his lil sleepy eyes are so cute that you wanna ask him right then and there but you SomeHow resist

- “I brought you some breakfast in bed, honey” you give him the tray and he’s already surprised because !!! he loves your cooking, but what’s the occasion???

-first yoosung smiles at your cup art and drinks some of that, complimenting how cute you are and how good you are at making coffee!!! maybe even better than him?? ooo

-when he looks at the plate to see what you made, he almost misses the little words by the side. but he does see it

-at first he thinks it’s a joke. were you reinacting one of your books or something??

-but when he looks back at you to see you on one knee by the bed with a ring in your hand he actually screams

-without even thinking he totally throws the breakfast off the bed the coffee is safe on the nightstand thank god and jumps into your arms

-making the two of you fall on the hard floor but he doesn’t care because “yeah!!!! yeah!! yeah, i wanna marry you!!” he doesn’t even say YES he just keeps saying YEAH. because. YEAH!!! we’re getting MARRIED!

Saeyoung:

-saeyoung deserves the best of the best okay

-so you make a GAME out of it

-you make him search for the ring and it’s so complex that you honestly forgot where you put the ring

-you hid it the other night and woke up at the butt-crack of dawn, waking up your soon to be fiance along with you

-he’s cranky about it, but once he hears that you two are going on a scavenger hunt he’s BLASTING OUT THE ROOM

-saeyoung please put on clothes we’re going outside

-it’s really fuckin cold in the morning so you guys have to dress up warm, which to Saeyoung means 707 layers of jackets heheh

-the puzzle was made to be really challenging because you know how smart Saeyoung is, even if he pretends he isn’t

-it’s kind of like his Valentines Date (DLC) except a lot less romantic ,, and more adventurous

-one moment your in the bathroom until he breaks it apart to find a key, and the next moment you’re in the garage unlocking one of his babes. inside there you find a tub of ice cream, so you go to Saerans room! You find a bouquet of flowers, so now your suddenly at the supermarket! Just like that, and it goes on FOREVER

-the last stop (where the wedding ring is) is at the top of the hill in a small dog park where the two of you had your first date. by the time you get there it’s the middle of the afternoon

-Saeyoung isn’t even TIRED. he’s having so much fun!!!

-he has to climb one of the trees to find the ring, and you’re down on the ground and you kinda just go “o. that’s where i put it” because, again, you fucking FORGOT

-he hangs from one of the branches and hands the ring to you, and you see the confusion on his face, but also the playfulness

- “what could it mean??? i don’t remember a ring in our relationship. hmm… you truly are a master, because frankly, I’m stump-ed.” bu-dum cccchhhh

-you join on in, observing the ring curiously even if you knew what it looked like.

-it was a beautiful ring. you didn’t want it too flashy, that didn’t really match his personality. it had a diamond in the middle, with two moonstones shaped in crescents to hug the diamond on each side. one reason because it was his birth stone, the other because. it was a moon stone. spaaaace

- “hmm, the only time I remember there being a ring in our relationship is when I proposed to you??”

-Saeyoung laughs because it’s like lololol funny joke MC but then all the sudden your getting on one knee and he’s kinda just like. w h a t

- “don’t tell me you’re going to say no and ruin the adventure already? we still have to go to the moon, you know.” You try to be cocky but your voice is trembling. you’re literally proposing to Saeyoung who is hanging upside down from a tree like a damn monkey

-he falls off the tree

- “OH MY GOSH, ARE YOU OKAY??” you try to help him but he’s scrambling away from you. Your heart breaks a lil bc of that,,

-and then you see that your boyfriend is crying and he’s trying really really hard for you not to see and you don’t know if that’s a good sign or not

- “are you crying because you love me or because you’re hurt because I’m really worried about both” a legitimate question you have to ask

-AAGAHHH it’s cause he loves you!!!! hell yeah he wants to marry you!!!

-that’s what he wants to say but he’s crying so much it comes out as a bunch of nonsense. “h yeh.. wa -nanabb… maaaarrRRYYyy-mmm y-yo-uugh-ouuu ehhhehHH!!!

-after you get him calmed down he kinda just bursts into tears at random times the rest of the day because he’s so overwhelmed with LOVE FOR YOU

Jumin:

-you don’t even beat around the bush with this fuckin dork. You’ve TRIED. it DOESN’T WORK Y’ALL

-if you don’t tell him outright about something, he’ll never know what you mean

-you’re out at a very very fancy dinner. You don’t want to propose there because of paparazzi. you figure that the dinner will help the romantic mood though

-after the dinner, you two go out to his private garden, and you spend the rest of your date there, walking and talking

-at one point you stop the two of you at a small little bench and request to sit down

-you continue talking while you make a flower crown for the both of you because he’s a very pretty boy and you can’t resist.

-also you need something to do with your hands because you’re so nervous and jittery

-by the time you’re finished with them, you place one crown on your head and then offer him his

- “would you like to be my prince, Jumin?”

-he smiles at you, because gosh. u are… so cute. Of course he wants to be your fuckin prince !!!

- “forever. be my prince forever, okay?”

- “okay, MC. I promise.”

-you place the crown on his head, and without really thinking about it you place the ring on the top of his head too

-Jumin is like “?????”

-very confused

-when he picks it up, and sees it is an engagement ring, he almost laughs because when Jumin looks at you again you are struggling to get on one knee in the grass

- “are you asking me to marry you, MC?”

-UGH YES JUMIN YES I AM aSGHHGH HELp me

-Jumin full out just giggles. He’s got a little blush on his cheeks and everything. he looks damn beautiful. It’s like the guy is shining under the moonlight

- “please god marry me Jumin Han” kinda just slips out of your mouth before you can think about it

-he brings you up to him and gives you a very deep kiss before putting on the ring.

- “MC, if you need me to, I’ll be your king.

Jaehee:

-you had brought the whole RFA together at your apartment for a casual get together and game night

-and you planned to propose with everyone there

-you just wanted it to be fun and memorable for the both of you, and to have your RFA family with you sounded amazing

-you were. v v nervous but you couldn’t tell anyone because literally everyone in the RFA would snitch without even thinking about it they’re terrible

-the party was finally at that calm, but fun air you wanted it to be. Yoosung and Saeyoung playing Just Dance on the TV, Jaehee and Zen chatting about their daily lives and his musicals while you were preparing food with Jumin.

-I think out of everyone in the RFA, Jumin is the happiest for you two, whether he say it or not

-and really…. he was the only one who wouldn’t snitch….

-so while you were pouring drinks for everyone, you told Jumin you planned to propose to Jaehee tonight but you weren’t sure when the best moment would be

-surprisingly he gave you a?? side hug???

-he was so proud of you guys aaaaa

-Jumin wasn’t the most romantic person, but he did give you good advice. Let it come naturally. Don’t think of her saying no, just think of her saying yes, because she will. Jaehee will say yes

-and that was such a relief to hear that you gave Jumin a big ol hug and a smooch on the cheek before bringing out the food

-an hour goes by and you all are playing monopoly

-Saeyoung and Jumin are getting all the expensive houses and constantly competing for each others cards. No one knows how Saeyoung got so much money.

-Yoosung is making a little home with all the really cheap blocks and Zen is pulling his hair as he has to pay Jumin yet again

-then there’s you and Jaehee who watch the fire burn and maintain a normal board of moderately expensive houses.

-and you just feel so good at the moment. You and Jaehee cuddled in a blanket with your friends all around you

-so you turn around, kiss her on the forehead, bring out the ring and ask her to marry you

-ALL EYES ON YOU

-the fighting IMMEDIATELY STOPS and everything is so quiet

-…

-..

- “DAMMIT JAEHEE IF YOU DON’T SAY YES, I WILL” Saeyoung SCREECHES at the top of his lungs and he looks like he’s gunna c r y

-Jaehee does finally find her words and says yes, then the two of you kiss and everyone is standing up and cheering for the two of you

-they force you to do a slow dance together and really you wouldn’t have it any other way

Zen:

-you don’t want to do it in public, because of paparazzi, but… Zen does love attention..

-so you decide to propose to him after one of his shoes back stage

-you watch the whole performance with a nervous heart and shaking hands

-the whole time you just stare at Zen and you watch how beautifully he sings and preforms. He’s amazing at what he does. You just… feel so proud of him

-you really, really hope he’ll say yes. You need him to. You don’t think you could ever get over it if Zen said no.

-When the show is over, there’s usually a meet-and-greet with all the actors so you have to act quickly before he leaves for that and is too tired for a proposal

-you greet him with a big hug and a kiss, which he appreciates a Whole Lot

- “hey, Zen, I was.. wondering something today.”

- “yeah? what’s that?”

- “would you ever… in the future.. would you ever like to get married?”

-you catch him off guard and now he’s blushing like a FOOL

-of course!! especially if it’s to you, and he winks. He’s just casually flirting but you’re just like THE TIME IS NOW

-you slam down on your knee so hard that you actually start crying and Zen is just ????!!!!!! what h a p p e n e d

-you explain in tears while bringing out the ring that you wanted to propose but you got too excited..

-YOU’RE SO CUTE, O H MYG OD,,,

-Zen just laughs, picks you up and gives you a really big SMOOCH on the lips. pretend i didn’t say smooch because it was actually really romantic

-he dips you, what a nerd

-god, he loves you. he’s looking at you with such a sparkle in his eyes as he says ‘yes’ and putting on that ring, you forget all about your injury and go in for another kiss as he spins you around

-after he smugly shows all his fans the ring in pride

Do you have hcs for the worst injury each Batkid had? (Beside the ones that killed some of them)

(Because it’s almost too easy to hop on the angst express for this one… I’m gonna go with the “worst,” most embarrassing injuries each of the batkids has had. JUST BECAUSE.)

One of Dick’s favourite things to do in Wayne Manor (other than sliding down the bannister) was to swing on the grand chandelier in the ballroom. As a nine-year-old kid, the only risk this posed was getting a scolding from Alfred that “the lighting fixtures are not a trapeze, young sir”, and even when he did fall from it, the distance to the floor wasn’t enough to hurt him.

When he was twenty-five, on a dare from one of his brothers, Dick decided to give it a whirl for old time’s sake…

He forgot that he weighed at least a hundred pounds heavier than the last time he did it, and realised this too late as the chandelier came crashing down in a cacophony of shattering glass and clanging metal-work and breaking bones. It was rather miraculous that he walked away from it with only minor cuts and bruises and a sprained wrist, but remains the worst injury in his mind to this day.

Barbara grows to be very careful in her later years as Batgirl and again as Oracle, and is not exactly a natural klutz. But one of her first solo nights, she drove her motorbike off the pier at Gotham harbour and into the ocean while chasing Cobblepot’s lackeys.

It’s kind of hard to beat dying in terms of injury… but Jason would rather talk about his death than that one time he literally shot himself in the foot.

Let me repeat: JASON LITERALLY SHOT HIMSELF IN THE FOOT.

That is all.

(Bruce laughed, actually laughed, for ten minutes straight when he found out about it. Then proceeded to use the idiom every chance he could get, grinning at Jason’s scowl.)

Tim has… far too many dumb injuries to just pick one, let’s be honest. He legitimately has a folder in the cave dedicated to them, entitled: “Stupid is as stupid does.” The highlights of said folder include: that one time Tim slipped on a grape and got a concussion, the time Tim pulled his arms and legs inside his shirt to ward off the cold then tripped and fell, breaking his collar bone; the time he spilled steaming hot coffee in his lap and was in agony for a week; and the time he poked himself in the eye with his bo staff.

Formidable in combat, useless in day-to-day life.

Although Stephanie is notorious for being a dangerous mixture of clumsy and brash, leaving her with a collection of injuries that would put Tim’s to shame… there is one injury that she will never be able to live down and will yell at you in red-faced anger if you dare bring it up…

She once tripped and headbutt a guy she was flirting with.

Let me clarify: she headbutted his pelvis and got a nasty lump on her head.

He wasn’t too happy about it either.

Cassandra’s stupid injuries are usually quite intentional… running into gunfire and the like. But her high pain tolerance is actually her downfall. She once bandaged a wound up poorly, didn’t notice it was still bleeding, and fainted from blood loss while eating Tim’s mini marshmallows in the kitchen.

Alfred patched her up. She was fine, but only just survived Alfred’s long lecture.

Damian once got distracted while feeding Batcow, and the cow accidentally bit his hand trying to eat.

It was broken.

Batcow 1. Damian 0.

And last but not least, we have Duke. Who absolutely did not set his clothes on fire during the fifth grade school science festival while trying to demonstrate his makeshift, DIY flux capacitor.

Even if no one else was impressed at the story, he received a silent handshake of respect from Tim, which made his humiliation it all worth it.

@hpqueernet | introduction event - @ginnyweaslcy, gay albus potter

Albus Potter knew from the beginning his first year at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry and beyond that he had been deemed “Harry Potter’s disappointing son” by the media. After growing up in a home where everyone had been filled with so much love and adoration for each other, Albus has never considered for one minute that his parents would have been disappointed in him for being different. But the media was a powerful tool that helped instill the “Harry Potter’s disappointing son” mantra into the heads of thousands, including Albus himself.

So when the end of his third year rolled around, and Albus had finally admitted to himself that, yeah, he was pretty gay, his first thought was great, another adjective to add to my “Harry Potter’s disappointing son” list. Along with stupid, slytherin, and doesn’t like quidditch he could now add g a y

Tom woke that morning to a cold and empty bed. Nothing out of the ordinary, if any person was to look at it, but Tom knew that this wasn’t the case. Last night was beyond what he could’ve imagined. Last night was the best night of his entire life. The sun poured through the hotel room’s window, brightening every inch of the place.

Tom pushed himself forward, before resting on his elbows. Around the room, there was absolutely no trace of another person, other than him and Harrison. It was confirmed; his girl—you. The very girl that fell asleep on top of him in this very bed was gone. To say that it was only a dream seemed quite crazy, and to make sure that wasn’t the case Tom rested all his weight and strength on one of his arms before using the other to reach up to his neck.

His fingers brushed across the sore and sensitive spot in his neck dreamily, as he took in the memory that came with it. It was real, all of it; the talking, the feathery kisses, and the lust, the passion, all of it was real. The hickey on his neck proved that to be. A chuckle escaped his lips, from just remembering how he felt last night and he had come to the conclusion that he wanted more of it.

The two of you had been friends for years, and it was inevitable. Falling in love with each other. The only thing was that it took Tom this long to sort out his feelings. Meanwhile, you’ve been struggling with your own for almost a year and a half now. Maybe last night was a breakthrough, a breakthrough for the either of you. To finally find that special one.

The ping his phone made whenever someone texted him caught his attention, and a weird giddy feeling swarmed his chest. It’s her, he thought to himself, but he couldn’t have been more disappointed. It was only Harrison saying good morning and asking if it was safe to return back to the hotel. Tom replied with a good morning and told his mate it was safe to come back.

While he was on his phone, it didn’t take him long to notice the Instagram notifications. To his surprise, Tom found his account to be quite lively with photos of him and you. The two of you fairly tipsy, maybe even drunk. They were innocent, the casual kiss on the cheek photos, the casual waist hug photo. What he was really nervous about was the video.

The minute long video that showed nothing more but a black screen before it was set to play. Tom could only hope he didn’t just embarrass himself and bruise his career or even worse lose you. The video starts with him just looking at the camera and smiling from ear to ear.

“Bit of an issue, me and Harrison got separated in this party,—” the camera flips and shows the medium sized crowd enjoying themselves and partying.

The camera flips around again, and Tom is greeted by his face once again, “—but it’s alright because I’ve got this lovely girl with me…”

Furrowing his eyebrows, Tom watched the video version of him, point the camera towards you the girl whom he had wished to wake up next to this morning and probably every morning. Before he knew, Tom sees himself throwing his arm over you before pulling you closer into his chest.

“Isn’t she pretty—I think she’s beautiful, and fun, and absolutely amazing.” Watching what came next made Tom’s skin crawling with goosebumps. Laughing, you shook your head saying what looks like a no, but Tom watched as he frowns. “What do you mean no? You are amazing, darling. How long has it been? I’ve known this girl for so long, she never failed to surprise me, I love her. I legitimately love her.”

As the video begins to end, Tom sees you look up at him in shock before he sees himself bring his face to yours. Giving you a sloppy kiss. The video ends a few seconds after that and Tom could start to feel his heart beginning to beat heavily. He didn’t want to believe it, but how could he possibly deny the evidence in front of him. What’s worse was that he displayed his feelings to you and to the world, in the most horrible way ever.

Immediately he left Instagram and called your phone. Already thinking of multiple ways to apologize, but the only thing was. There wasn’t any regret in him, he enjoyed kissing you and he only wished to do it many more times.  The phone rung three times before the line went dead. Meaning she declined his call. Tom fell back against the bed and closed his eyes, letting out a sigh. Thinking he had ruined everything between the two of you.

“Is there a reason you’re calling me when I’m right in the other room?”

Standing at the doorway, there you were in nothing but his t-shirt and your underwear. Surprised, Tom looked at you confused.

“I thought you left,” he said, his voice sounding small.

You looked at him confused and walked over to the bed, “Why on earth would I do that?”

Tom smiled hearing those words slip past your lips. Within seconds he reached over to you and pulled you onto the bed, under him. “I don’t ever want you to leave, not now, not ever.”

“But McDonald’s is giving away free fries,” you raised your eyebrows looking past his face and towards the ceiling, “I might have to leave for at least-”

You couldn’t finish—he wouldn’t let you finish actually. Tom had cut you off, with only his lips. They were pressed firmly against yours, and a wave of excitement flushed through your limbs. The giddy feeling from last night returning to both of you. Everything last night was firmly embedded into your mind and you enjoyed every second of it. Reaching up to get ahold of his cheek, you felt him turn his head leaning into your touch and further into his kiss.

“Fine, I won’t leave,” you mumbled against his lips that were still firmly entangled with your own.

Tom didn’t care about McDonald’s or the greasy potato sticks. All he cared about was you. Holding you. Kissing you. Just being with you. As his kiss moved from your lips to your neck, you giggled feeling squeamish. Just to mess with you further, Tom’s finger dug into your sides moving specifically were the most ticklish places on your body.

You laughed hysterically and tried to get away from him but it was no use. Hearing the hotel door open, the two of you grew quiet.

“Oi, I bought quacksons you twats,” Harrison called out.

You burst out into a fit of laughter, only to have a Tom groan.

“I do not say quackson!”
