YN is Jackson older sister and Bill is her fan!so when he finds out he tries his best to get Jackson to introduce them, and when he does,Jackson can’t help and teels big sis that Bill has a crush on her and he’s just super adorkable to admit! later they all say that on an interview, and the kids love to make fun of them

“Jackson please don’t run! Be careful, sweetie, you’re gonna-” you stopped yourself when you heard you little brother giggle and you realized what you’d just said “Oh gosh I am turning into mom!” you breathed out, eyes wide.

Your little brother ran back to you, wrapping his small arms around your legs and you looked down to be met with his adorable smile “Yes you are! But I am always going to love you the most! More than mom and dad, and more than anyone else in the world!” he said and you giggled.

“And you will always be the number one man in my heart, JR!” you leaned down to pick him up and kiss his cheek as he wrapped his arms around your neck with a big smile.

“Even before dad?” he asked and you grinned, nodding your head.

“But we’re not gonna tell him that, because it’s gonna break his heart.” you pouted, and he giggled.

“You bet it will!” your father piped in, saying with a serious nod and you laughed with Jackson as he kissed your cheek before going to help your mother.

“And… even more than him?” he said with what was supposed to be a smirk on his face and you chuckled, tickling his belly.

“You sly little tease!” you grinned as he squirmed in your arms “Alright, maybe I really do like him a little bit but-”

He rolled his eyes so dramatically at you and shook his head “A lot!”

Hi! Any words of encouragement for a burnt-out med student who failed the anatomy exam and is retaking it in a few days, but is SO exhausted after a month of studying that even looking into the textbook is painful? I love your blog and the way it approaches knowledge and science and I thought, hell, maybe you have something, because at this point I really don't have anything, not even hope, hah.

HEY OKAY MY FRIEND YOU’VE ONLY GOT A COUPLE MORE DAYS AND YOU’RE GONNA SMASH IT, OKAY? YOU WERE ACCEPTED INTO MED SCHOOL BECAUSE THE PEOPLE THERE KNOW YOU HAVE WHAT IT TAKES TO PERSEVERE AND SUCCEED AND SO DO I. I BELIEVE IN YOU.

“Why do we even try? When the barriers are so high and the odds are so low—why don’t we just pack it in and go home? It would be so much easier. It’s because in the end, there’s no glory in easy. No one remembers easy. They remember the blood, and the bones, and the long agonizing fight to the top. And that, that is how you become legendary.”

I’ll Be Okay

Summary: You supported Jin’s dreams, and were there every step of the way. Whenever he canceled on you, you were okay with it. Whenever he had to be in the studio, you were okay with it. You were okay with everything he did, and when he broke up with you to continue his dreams you were somehow okay with it. Even though you had a big surprise for him…

“Mm, babe where are you going?” You groaned as the other half of the bed dipped. With squinted eyes you saw your boyfriend putting his shoes on, getting ready to leave.

“Ah Y/N, I have to get to the studio.” Jin tied his shoelaces and patted his knees. He felt your arms snake around his neck and your head leaning against his back. If he could, he would stay here for the whole day, like he was supposed to do, but plans change and they needed him in the studio to record.

“I thought you had the day off?” You whispered, still half asleep.

“I thought so too, but they need me in today.” He felt your head nod against his back and you let go of his neck as he got up from the bed. You laid back down and Jin pulled the blankets up to cover you so you could fall back asleep. “I’ll see you tonight, promise.” He placed a gentle kiss on your temple as you cuddle against the blankets more.

“Take your time Jin, you can’t rush perfection.” You smiled at him as he let out a chuckle. “If you can’t come by tonight just text me.”

“Will do baby.” He rubbed your arm one last time before he left the bedroom. Another day he was leaving you for work, and another day you were okay with it.

________

*Flashback*

“Y/N, what if I told you I want to be a singer instead of an actor?” Jin sat down next to you at the library as you were studying for an upcoming test. You pulled out the one earphone that was in and laid down at the table. Jin’s hands were folded on the table as he looked at you, his leg was shaking telling you that he was anxious.

“Well go for it Jin.” You placed a hand on top of his and his head tipped forward. “If it feels right then do it. I’m all for it! I mean you might have to take different classes now instead of acting classes…” He cut you off.

“No, Y/N the thing is.” He licked his lips and grabbed your hand with his. “I was recruited today by some company.” Your mouth formed an O as you nodded your head at his words, and without a beat you replied:

“Well go for it babe, I believe in you.” He kissed your temple, the load that was on his shoulders seemed to have gotten lighter. With your support, he could do anything.

“Are you sure about this Y/N?” His chin was on your shoulder as he looked down at your papers.

“Jin, I’m beyond sure, you should do it! Are you sure about this though?” You wanted to make sure he was okay with doing something that was outside his major.

“I guess I’ll find out.”

________

“Jin you look so badass!” You said to him through the phone line as you saw some of the teaser photos that were released for their upcoming debut.

“What are you talking about? I’m always badass!” You laugh filled up the phone line, and it brought a smile to his face. It relaxed his whole body, as he was tired from the recent activities.

“Whatever you Jinnie.” And the way that nickname rolled off your tongue, it was the best sound to his ears he’s ever heard. “Anyways, I’m making some dinner tonight for us, I was wondering what you wanted for dessert.”

“Y/N, I can’t make it tonight anymore, I thought that since we would be close to our debut I could see you but I still can’t.” His voice was sympathetic and you knew he felt bad. You didn’t mind though, because he was living his dream, and having fun while doing it. And even though you haven’t seen him in what felt like forever, he always managed to keep you updated.

“No! Jin don’t worry! I completely understand! Just make sure to get some rest okay?” He let out a little half smile with one nod of his head.

“I will Y/N.”

And that’s when it all started. You coming second to his job.

*End Of Flashback*

________

You never minded though. You love Jin with all your heart. Meeting him in your first week of college, he caught your eye that’s for sure. You were the first one to make a move, asking him to grab some food with you at a nearby restaurant that the two of your grown to love. You don’t know how long it’s been since the two of you been there together.

While Jin went off to become a famous idol, you stayed back to focus on your studies trying to become a nurse. And when Jin debuted in 2013 with his group you were his biggest fangirl. All of the times he could never see you, the times that he stayed up to practice instead of sleep, the times that he skipped a meal to focus on singing, it all paid off. While Jin kept apologizing to you that he could never see as often, you always told him that it was okay. You were proud of your boyfriend.

He always supported you as well. Making sure that you ate your meals, that you drank enough water, and to get some sleep instead of studying all night. He would love to see you drift off to sleep while he was video chatting you, and seeing you so relaxed and in a peaceful state of mind that it made him more at ease.

He fell more in love with you with each text, and video chat, and with each visit he had with you. You grew accustomed to each other lives, and when he introduced you to the other members, they were fond of you and loved you as well.

He couldn’t find anyone like you, he knew he wanted to be with you for a long time.

________

“Hey guys!” You walk into the dance studio with bags of food hanging around your arms.

“Noona!” Jungkook called as he raced over to you, and started looking inside the bags.

“Hold on Kook, let me set them down at least.” You giggled as you let the bags fall off of your arms and onto the floor. The guys floated their way over to the smell, and started to dig in. Your boyfriend was the last one to walk over, placing a kiss on your lips. “Well hello handsome.” You winked at him, and kissed him again. Now your arms were wrapped around his neck while his were wrapped around your waist, the members not taking notice at your affection.

“Well hello gorgeous. What’s all this for?” He nodded his head in the direction of the food.

“Well I’m on my lunchbreak and I thought why not bring some food over for you guys?” You patted his chest and brought your hands down to your pockets. “You should eat babe.” Jin agreed with your words as he sat on the ground with his members and started to eat.

“I love your scrubs Y/N.” Taehyung said to you with a mouthful of food, and you looked down again to see what ones you were wearing. Just a light pink color, with white shoes and your hair a mess. It was already a long day at the hospital for the nursing students, and you all have another 4 hours ahead of you.

“Oh thanks Tae.” You all sat there in a comfortable silence while munching on your food and scrolling through your phones. It’s been almost 2 years since they debuted, and each day you spent with the guys you loved it even more and more. They have become a part of your life, and you wouldn’t want it any other way.

“Breaks over, we need to start back up again.” Their instructor came out and was the first one to break the silence. They all shoved the rest of their food into their mouths and set their containers back into the bags. They all said their thank you’s to you as you grabbed each bag to throw into the garbage.

“Thanks again babe.” Jin kissed your temple and off he went.

________

You’ve been with Jin for 3 years now, and this morning he texted you telling you to wear something fancy for tonight because he has something special planned. You don’t know why, but you have butterflies in your stomach and you felt like a middle school girl who was talking to her crush for the first time.

As the night approaches, you chose to wear a black gown, with your hair slicked back into a pony, and your makeup looked like it was professionally done. It took you a few hours to get ready for Jin to pick you up, but the outcome was worth it.

You were ready 30 minutes early before Jin would pick you up, so you turned on the TV and sat on your couch waiting for his text to tell you that he was here. And as 30 minutes passed you received nothing. An hours passed, then two hours, then three, and you were consumed in a new show that was being played.

The door unlocked at 11:35 and in walked Jin, wearing his practice clothes. He threw his bag down and kicked his shoes and ran to the couch to see you. “I’m so sorry Y/N, we got caught up in practice and we had to finish the dance moves.” He was out of breath trying to explain to you what he was doing.

“Jin,” You stood up and and placed your hands on his stomach and ran them up over his chest and to his shoulders and eventually around his neck. “I understand, the most important thing is, is that I have you now.” You kissed his lips, and he let one hand slide to your cheek while the other wrapped around your waist.

He broke the kiss and stood back a little to take in your figure. “God you look so damn beautiful Y/N.”

“Thank you.” You whispered to him. He got out his phone and played a slow song while grabbing your hand and swaying back and forth to the music. You looked at the man in front of you, and you couldn’t be any more prouder of him than you were. He’s living his dream, being so busy, and yet still finding time for you. He was the love of your life, and no one could replace him.

“What are you thinking about?” He asked you. You must have zoned out and he caught you, but when he spoke to you, you just smiled. “What?” He said with a hint of laughter in his voice.

“Nothing, I just love you.” You said to him, and he placed a kiss on your lips, leading down to your neck.

“I love you too.” He removed his lips from your neck. “And I love this outfit on you, but you wanna know what I would love more?” You let out a hum signaling him to tell you what he would love more. “This outfit on the floor.” And before you knew it, you were being carried to the bedroom, bridal style.

________

Pregnant. You were pregnant, in fact you were 3 weeks pregnant. Excitement, and nervousness filled your body as you found out this news. You couldn’t wait for Jin to come to your apartment tonight after schedules and for you to tell him the news. Even though this wasn’t the order you were supposed to be doing things in, you were still excited to have a baby with your beloved boyfriend of 3 years.

But what you didn’t know, is that you and Jin were on different agendas.

________

Jin walked into your apartment to be faced with you pacing around the kitchen area. He took your beautiful self in, with your pajama shorts and tank top, getting ready for bed. And when you spotted him, you ran over to him and wrapped your arms around him. It’s been too long, like always, but you don’t mind.

“Jin I have some….”

“We need to break up Y/N.” It came out of his mouth faster than intended. You unwrapped your arms from around his neck slowly and stared at him.

“What?” You asked him in confusion. You thought things were going fine, even though he was never around that often, he still tried. Was he getting tired of you? Was he told to end things with you? You weren’t sure why he was doing this, but you needed answers. “Why Jin?” Your voice came out soft.

“Y/N, I love you baby, I really do believe me. I just, I just don’t have time for you. I’m neglecting you and isn’t fair to you. You need someone who will always be here with you, and not keep you waiting.” He held your hands in his, his thumbs playing with your palms.

“Jin, I love you though, you making me wait for you is no big deal.”

“But it is to me Y/N.” He sighed and looked down at your hands. “I can’t keep doing this, I’m hurting you and me. Maybe in the future we can be together when things are figured out and I have more time, but right now,” He shook his head and released his hands from yours, “I can’t do this anymore.”

He was expecting more of a reaction out of you, tears, screaming, hitting, anything. But all he got was the normal you. A smile on your face, a hand cupping his cheek and a kiss on the lips. “I understand Jin. Live your dreams now, I’ll always be here for you.”

And with that, he left your apartment.

________

As the months went by, you couldn’t feel sad for the sake of your baby. The first week was horrible, you couldn’t even shed tears. You laid on your bed and stared at the ceiling. You thought things were going fine, but in Jin’s mind he was hurting you. Then as the week passed, you had to pull yourself together and start taking care of yourself for your baby.

You had to move things around in your second room in your apartment to make it a room for a baby. You set up a crib right way before you got too pregnant, and got all the tough work done earlier on in your pregnancy. You attended appointments by yourself, and even when the doctor asked “Will the father be joining us today?” you always said “He’s busy today.”

And each night you would read your growing stomach a book, or watch TV with it. And on special nights you would see Jin perform with BTS and you whisper to your stomach, “There’s your daddy, he doesn’t know about you, but he would love you so much. Hopefully soon he can see you.”

________

“Will she be taking the father’s last name?” The nurse asked as you were holding your baby girl. You nodded your head at the nurse as she wrote down the last name on her birth certificate. “And what about the first name?” You stared lovingly at your daughter once more before deciding.

“Luna. Kim Luna.” The nurse smiled at you, as you rubbed your finger against her cheek. You were in love.

“Beautiful name.” The nurse walked out of the room, and it just left you and your beautiful baby girl.

________

“Have you talked to her since the break up?” Namjoon asked Jin. It’s been 9 months since he decided it was for the best if you moved on and found someone else. Someone who wouldn’t make you wait, someone who could move in with you, someone who could give you the time of day. Jin wanted to be all of those things, but with the job he has, he couldn’t. He would give anything to take it back, but he knew he couldn’t be selfish anymore, and gave you up.

“We talk sometimes. She’s probably busy now, she’s getting ready for graduation soon. God she has to be so stressed Joon, and I’m not there for her.” He let his head fall into his hands as they were backstage before a show. Jin doesn’t even know how he got on the topic of you but he did. “Do you think she hates me?”

Namjoon let out a sigh, trying to think an answer. “I don’t think she hates you Jin, she loves you too much.” Jin nodded took his head away from his hands. “Do you think what you did was the right choice?”

Jin scoffed. “I thought it was, but it turns out it wasn’t.”

________

Two weeks had passed since you brought Luna home. Even though she keeps you up at night, you wouldn’t trade her for anything in this world. Even though she cries at random things, and makes you stressed, she’s still the most beautiful little girl you have laid your eyes on. And at just 2 weeks old, she knows her father’s voice because every time you see a music show and his lovely voice sings into that mic, Luna is at ease.

And one afternoon, while you were getting Luna ready for a nap, rocking her in a chair, your phone wouldn’t stop vibrating, and the I.D. said ‘Jin’.

“Hello?” You answered with your phone in-between your shoulder and ear.

“Y/N?”

“Yes Jin?”

“It’s been months.”

“Yeah it has been, I’ve been super busy, and I’m assuming you have been too.”

“Yeah, I have been. I just needed to hear your voice that’s all.”

“Oh, well I guess you got your fix then.” He laughed at the other end. Your daughter was sound asleep now, so you picked her up and set her in her crib.

“Can I see you later tonight? I mean you don’t have to agree, it’s just…” You cut him off.

“I’d love that actually.”

“Really? I’ll swing by your place if that’s alright? The guys will be here, and I think we need to talk one on one.”

“Sounds perfect Jin.” With that you hung up the phone, and looked at your daughter.

“You’re gonna meet your daddy tonight Luna.”

________

“I’m sorry it’s a mess.” You said to Jin as you were picking things off of the floor. With Luna in the picture you haven’t really had time to pick up much. You always haven’t been sleeping much, and since Luna is in bed for the night, you were supposed to be in bed for the night.

“No worries Y/N, you should see the dorm, it’s much messier than this.” You let out a light giggle as you threw some things into the trash. Jin looked at the kitchen, and saw baby bottles scattering the counter, but he didn’t think anything of it. He just assumed that you were watching your friends baby from earlier this week.

You made your way over to the couch to sit across from Jin. “It’s been awhile hasn’t it?” You said to him and he nodded his head in agreement.

“Yeah it has been.”

“I see things are going well though, I watch you on TV, and I watch your music videos and I also buy all of your songs. I guess you can say I’m a major fangirl.” You winked at Jin as he laughed. How could you still be like this after almost 10 months?

“You were always the best at being a fangirl.” You smiled at him. “Y/N,” Jin started and you looked at him as he licked his lips and his eyes got glossy. “I think I messed up.”

“What? Jin? What’s wrong?”

“I shouldn’t have…” Crying. The baby monitor was blaring, filling the living room with cries. Jin looked at it shocked, scaring even him.

“Can you hold that thought one second please.” You got off the couch and walked into Luna’s room. She wouldn’t stop her crying, so you picked her up and and cradled her in your arms.

“It’s alright baby girl.” You cooed, and Jin heard it through the baby monitor. “Why are you crying huh? Are you hungry? You don’t need a diaper change. Should we get some food?” Jin heard your footsteps walking through the hallway and into the kitchen. He saw the little girl in your arms, with a white onesie on.

You came back with a bottle in hand, and Luna’s eyes wide open looking around at her surroundings. Jin was staring at the baby, trying to think who’s it could be.

“I’m sorry it’s just she was crying so much, and I couldn’t leave her.” You explained yourself as Luna took the bottle in her mouth.

Jin ran a finger along side of her cheek, as she drank the milk from the bottle. “What’s her name?” He asked in a whisper.

“Luna.” You said back to him. Earlier today when Jin called, you were so excited for Luna to meet her dad for the first time. But now, you didn’t know how to tell him. How to break the news to him that he was a father. If he didn’t break up with you, it would almost be 4 years that you two would have been together, but here you two are. In the comfort of your apartment, holding your daughter, talking about your relationship with Jin. What an odd situation.

“She’s beautiful.” He stuck a finger in her hand and Luna grasped onto it with all her strength.

“She should be, her father is handsome! She gets her looks from him.” You smiled at her, as you were both fixated on her.

“Who’s child is it?” Jin had her hand wrapped around his finger while you were holding a bottle, feeding her. This is what a family should look like, it felt right.

“Ours.” Jin’s eyes went wide, and you both stared at each other. He was waiting for a kidding at the end of sentence. “She’s ours Jin.” Your voice grew softer with each syllable.

“What?”

“Our three year anniversary, do you remember what we did?” His face turned red as he started to connect the dots in his head. “The day you broke up with me, was the day I was going to tell you that I was pregnant.”

“And why didn’t you?” His voice was quiet but a little harsher than you expected. “Why didn’t you tell me Y/N!”

“Because I didn’t want her to be the reason you stayed Jin. I didn’t want to make you miserable by staying with me because of Luna.”

“That’s bullshit Y/N! I wanted to stay with you! I thought what I was doing was right and it wasn’t, and now here I am ten months later, trying to get you back into my life and then also being told that I have a daughter!”

“It’s a lot I know, and I’m sorry. I understood that you were busy and I didn’t want to bother you. I was doing fine, in fact I still am doing fine.” You gave him a half smile as Luna finished her bottle and you removed it from her mouth. She licked her lips a few times before you placed a towel on your back and started patting her back to get her to burp.

“You always say that everything is fine Y/N. You say that when I cancel plans, when I can’t be with you as much, yet you say it’s fine, why? I know it isn’t fine.”

“Because it really is fine Jin! It’s your job and I understand that you have to make sacrifices! But at the end of the day I’ll still be here! That’s what love is!” Jin leaned in and kissed you with Luna between you two.

“I’m sorry, I was stupid and thought what I was doing was right when it clearly wasn’t. I couldn’t stop thinking about you Y/N, you really are the love of my life, and now,” He nodded towards Luna. “I have two loves of my life right here in front of me.” Your eyes got glossy as a tear fell down your face. Jin saw, and took Luna from you and placed the towel on his shoulder and patted her back. You wiped your tears away, and felt your heart swell with happiness.

“I love you too Kim Seokjin.” You let out a breath before talking again. “And tell you the truth, it’s been a rough two weeks. I think she plots against me so I don’t get any sleep.” You let out a little laugh. “But god Jin, I wouldn’t trade her for the world. She is the most perfect human being on this planet.”

“Besides me?”

“Are you really comparing yourself to your daughter right now?” You got up and sat next to Jin on the couch and leaned your head against his shoulder. “Weird to think that you’re father Jin.”

“I know, but I love it already.” He turned towards you and placed a kiss on top of your head. “Are you saying yes for me being back in your life then?”

“Yes Jin, I haven’t stopped loving you, and this little one here knows who her dad is.”

“What?” He laughed a little at your comment.

“Every time I play your songs or you perform on a show, and you start singing, she goes quiet and just listens.” Jin finally took Luna away from his shoulder and saw that she was sleeping, he cradled her in his arms as the both of you looked at her. “When I was pregnant with her, I told her everything about you, I have a feeling she’s gonna be a daddy’s girl.” Jin shook his head with a big grin on his face. “What?”

“Y/N, I’m a dad.” His grin got wider and wider. “And you’re a mom, and we’re parents to a beautiful baby girl.”

“I know.” You got off the couch and signaled for Jin to follow you. You walked to Luna’s room and he placed her in her crib. He pulled you closer and placed a kiss on your forehead, then your nose, then your lips.

“Thank you for giving me a second chance Y/N. I know this time, I’ll be here more often.”

“Jin, it’s your job remember that. Just know that I’ll always be okay and so will Luna. Our little family.” You grabbed his hand, and walked to your bedroom and climbed in the bed, patting the empty spot beside you. Jin got the hint and crawled next to you. “It’s been too long.” You told him, as you shut the lamp off.

“That it has Y/N.” He pulled you closer to him. He could never get enough of this. He knew that he was in love you. He knew that leaving you was the worst decision of his life. He just wanted you to be happy, but after 10 months he knew that you were each other’s happiness, and this time he isn’t letting go.

Light Up the Ice - Chapter 1

Summary: Aelin Galathynius has never really been into sports. Yes, she likes to keep in shape, and she works out, but watching people run up and down a field, trying to keep a leather ball away from each other? It’s always seemed a bit childish to her, and decidedly NOT a way for a grown adult to make a living.

Rowan Whitethorn has recently been drafted by the Terresen Staghorns, one of best teams in the EHL (Erilean Hockey League). And since he moved to Terresen from Wendlyn, it’s been hard for him to get more than 30 seconds alone from someone demanding a picture with him. Getting drafted straight out of college wasn’t exactly what he had in mind, but he’s not complaining. Until he accidentally meets a girl. More specifically, until he accidentally meets his neighbor. She seems to have no idea who he is and for some reason, that’s refreshing. But will she still want to be with him once he shows her the truth?

Author’s Note: Well, friends, here we are! My newest multi-chapter has begun! This is a spinoff of my one-shot Missed Dreams and Lost Sleep which, if you haven’t read, I suggest you read it before you dive into this one! You can find it HERE! I’ve been bouncing this idea off of @tacmc for about a month at this point and I am so excited to share it with you guys! Enjoy!

Keeping his feet moving was the only thing that kept Rowan Whitethorn from falling asleep on the ice. He harshly tapped his stick on the ice, letting his teammate know he was open for a pass.  The puck glided across the ice to the other side, and he skated around the back of the net, changing his position to where he was supposed to be next.

He danced around the edge of goal, staying out of the way of the goalie and was ready, waiting. He didn’t see the stick of the defensemen in front of him, however, and his skate got tangled up in it.

He hit the ice, shoulder first, taking the other player’s stick with him and groaned. Before he could make a move to get back on his feet, he got hit in the chest with the puck. Hard.

Gasping and resting on his hands and knees, he heard the whistle blow.

“Whitethorn!” He looked up, finding Coach Brello skating through the neutral zone. “Where the hell is your head today?”

He made it back to his feet and winced as he rubbed at his chest through the thick pads. Ress retrieved his stick from the ice by his feet and clapped him on the shoulder.

Everyone knew Brello was fair, but he was harsh when it came to slacking off on the ice, whether that was at practice or during a game.

“Just didn’t get a lot of sleep last night, coach,” he said, standing to his full height of 6’4. “My building had a false fire alarm and we were all evacuated for most of the night. I’m here, I promise. It won’t happen again.”

“I’m sorry to hear that. Let me make sure you can get some sleep tonight.” Almost as one, the entire team turned to glare at him. “Speed backchecks, let’s go! Line up!”

There were quiet grumbles as everyone skated to the other side. Rowan’s line sidled up beside him.

Lorcan, the Terrasen Staghorns’ captain, and Rowan’s left defenseman glared down at him. “Getting real sick of running drills thanks to assholes who can’t do their job at practice.”

Fenrys, his right winger, snorted from Rowan’s other side. “Says the one who caused us to run puck control drills for forty-five minutes last week because you bounced the Valg’s captain’s head off the ice.”

“He deserved it. He was playing dirty.” The sentence was more growl than it was words.

Gavriel, his right d-man, said under his breath, “If you don’t both shut up, coach will have us running a lot more than just backchecks.”

As the whistle blew and Lorcan and Gavriel took off towards the puck at the center of the ice, Fenrys nudged him. “You sure you didn’t finally get some last night?” There was a gleam in his dark eyes. “Didn’t finally sample some of the sweet things Terrasen has to offer?”

He turned away so the fastest forward in the EHL wouldn’t see the blush attempting to creep onto his already flushed face. “No, man, I wasn’t with anyone last night.”

Lie. It was an outright lie, but only because Fenrys was talking about spending some time in the bedroom. He didn’t say anything about the front lawn of his building or the diner down the road.

The whistle blew, alerting them that Lorcan netted the puck. He and Fenrys took off, having to go 2x2 until one of the pairs scored. They hadn’t lined up fairly, and Rowan planned to use that to his advantage. Two forwards against two d-men would typically be pretty evenly matched, but with Fenrys’ speed and Rowan’s puck handling, they would make quick work of their captain and alternate.

Fenrys beat him to the puck – unsurprisingly – and passed it to Rowan as he made to curve behind Gavriel. He chipped it with his stick, sending it around Gavriel, who expected it to skirt in front of his skates. Lorcan anticipated it though and had fallen back, ready for the forward to charge ahead. Fenrys wrapped behind the net and with expert skill, Rowan sent the puck to him and fell back. Lorcan had to decide, keep an eye on Rowan or keep Fenrys from netting the puck.

He chose wrong.

Turning to press Fenrys, the puck slid to Rowan’s waiting stick. Rearing back, with a crack that filled the empty arena, he sent the puck flying towards the goal. It caught in the netting and the goal horn blew.

“Looks like Mr. Whitethorn finally decided to show up for practice,” Brello hollered from the box where he and the assistant coach were manning the horn controls. He glanced at his watch. “Next line, reset the puck and go. They completed the full drill in less than 50 seconds. If you cross a minute, you’ll be running drive drills until my wife gets home from work.”

The entire team knew that Brello wasn’t married.

Skating over to the benches, the first line grabbed their bottles. Rather than drinking his, Rowan sprayed the water over his face and neck, shaking his silver hair out.

“Good misdirect, Rowan,” Gavriel, said, one leg swung over the wall separating the ice from the bench.

As he nodded his thanks, Lorcan said, “Use that against Red Desert tomorrow night and they’ll have no idea what direction you’re coming from.”

The rest of practice flew by. Rowan tried to keep his mind on the game, on practice, but his mind kept drifting back to last night. Back to the laughs that he’d shared with her; to the 24-hour diner she’d shown him down the street; to when he’d stood outside her door this morning and asked if he could call her and she’d said no, temporarily causing him to think back through the whole night. Had he been that far off on how she’d been looking at him? When she’d said he could just knock on her door and then shut said door in his face, a devilish smirk on those lips, he couldn’t do anything but stare. And then smiled as he headed to his own door down the hall.

Pulling his phone out of his bag, he saw it was just after 5:30. People with real world jobs would just be getting off work now, so maybe he could catch her just as she was getting home. Maybe they could grab dinner. As he sat down in the locker room to take off his skates, that plan went out the window.

“Kennedy brothers, Whitethorn, Bourne.” He glanced up to see Brello holding a clipboard. He suppressed a groan. “I want you clocking another 3 hours in the gym tonight. Do it here, do it at home. Hell, do it at Planet Fitness for all I care. But I want at least an hour of cardio, an hour of free weights and an hour of bands. The rest of you rest up. I’ll see you at 10:30 for pre-game ice time tomorrow.”

Knowing that Bourne lived in a fancy high-rise with a gym and the Kennedy boys had a gym at home, Rowan elected to use the facilities gym. It wasn’t often he could work out in solitude. His morning run was the closest he got, but only because he was up before the rest of the city was.

Since he’d been drafted by the Terrasen Staghorns, it had been nearly impossible for him to get more than 30 seconds alone before someone noticed him, but so was the life of a professional hockey player in the Erilean Hockey League.

Coming from Wendlyn, he knew nobody here, yet everyone seemed to know him. Luckily, a few of his teammates – specifically, his new line –  hailed from the same lands, and he’d gotten in tight with them. They were now a force to be reckoned with, a perfect line of offense and defense and it was almost as if they had one thought process running throughout them.

That’s one reason that the girl from last night had been stuck on his mind. She looked at him like he was just a normal person, not a professional athlete. He wasn’t sure if she was very good at ignoring the obvious or if she genuinely didn’t know who he was.

Stripping out of his pads and putting on an old shirt from his days at the University of Doranelle, he tied the laces on his shoes and made his way to the gym. Might as well get this over with if he had any hope of seeing her again tonight.

Pulling the door open to her coffee shop, Aelin attempted to fight off a yawn. The little bell tied to the knob jingled, alerting Lysandra that there was someone coming in.

“Goooooood morning, boss, slash best friend, slash person who I love more than anyone else on this planet.” The dark-haired vixen called from behind the counter.

“Hey,” came a male voice from beside the door; Aelin’s cousin, Aedion.

She pointed a wet rag from where she’d been wiping down the counters in his direction. “Hush up. You don’t make my schedule.”

Aelin looked from her cousin back to her best friend, yawned, and said, “Somebody is obviously about to ask for another day off.”

“Blame him!” Lysandra said, pointing to Aedion, who immediately set his cup down and held his hands up in the universal gesture for I didn’t do anything. “He got tickets to the hockey game tomorrow night and wants me to go with him.”

Aelin fought the urge to roll her eyes and headed behind the counter. Lysandra handed her a cup of black coffee and she walked towards her office, sipping the sweet nectar as she unlocked the door. “I just don’t understand why you’d want to pay to watch a bunch of grown men play a child’s game.”

Aedion had stood and followed her into the back office Aelin used as her base of operations. He dropped a few envelopes on her desk and Aelin immediately began to open them, yawning again. Bills, ads, and teenage resumes; the usual mail she received. “Children don’t beat the shit out of each other when they play,” he said. “These guys do. It’s awesome.”

“Ooh.” The sarcasm lacing Aelin’s tone as she threw the sales flyers in the trash was evident.

“Come on, Aes,” he said, sitting in the chair in front of her desk. “My boss gave them to me because he can’t go. I really think Lys would have fun. Please?”

Turquoise and gold eyes met across the desk. Looking at her cousin, his bottom lip jutted out like a petulant child, she rolled her eyes. “Of course, I’ll let her have the night off. I’ll just cover the barista shift tomorrow night. It’s not a big deal.”

Aedion jumped up and ran around the desk, planting a loud kiss on his cousin’s cheek. Aelin pushed him away as she fought off another yawn.

“Okay, that’s the fourth time you’ve yawned since you stepped foot in the door,” Lysandra said, leaning on the frame of the doorway separating the office from the front of the Staghorn Café. “What’s up?”

Aedion turned and looked her up and down. “You didn’t finally get laid, did you?”

“Ugh, Aedion,” Aelin groaned. “You’re practically my brother. You don’t get to ask things like that.”

“Yeah, Aedion,” Lysandra said, smacking him on the shoulder and plopping into the seat he had just vacated. “But I’m the best friend, so I do. Who’s the lucky guy?”

Letting her head fall into her hands, she said, “I did not finally get laid.” She put emphasis on finally since so were they. It had only been 3 months since she and Chaol decided they just didn’t work as a couple. They were actually great friends now, his current girlfriend working as Aelin’s baker, filling her shop with the delicious scents of freshly baked bread and pastries. She and Nesryn got along surprisingly well, considering the awkward way they knew each other.

“The fire alarm got pulled in the building at, like, three this morning. I had to sit on the front lawn until the sun rose and they cleared the building for us to go back in. I’m just tired, that’s all.”

“So there wasn’t a guy involved?” Aedion asked, and the tips of Aelin’s ears involuntarily turned pink as she thought about him.

Lysandra squealed and shoved Aedion out the door. “Man the counter, babe.” She slammed the door in his face and sat back in front of the desk, her green eyes huge as she waited for Aelin to fill her in. A muffled “I don’t even work here!” could be heard through the door. Lysandra sat, waiting.

Aelin couldn’t stop the smile that broke across her face, causing Lysandra to squeal again. “It was him, wasn’t it? Your neighbor?”

“Rowan,” was all Aelin said, and Lysandra cried, “You got his name?!”

So Aelin gave her the quick recap of the night, from waking up to the alarm screeching to turning around and seeing Rowan in nothing but boxer-briefs, to watching the sunrise and grabbing breakfast from Emrys’ Diner down the block. By the time Aelin finished, she could tell Lysandra was already trying to decide what kind of dress she should wear as the maid-of-honor in their wedding. Her green eyes were wide and she asked, “What’s his last name?”

Aelin opened her mouth and then closed it. Somehow, she hadn’t gotten it last night. They’d mostly talked about trivial things; movies they liked, their favorite breakfast foods, the path Aelin normally took when she was running.

“I’m not sure,” Aelin said honestly.

“You have to find out! What if it’s like “Johnson” or “Peters” or,” she gasped. “Cox?”

Rolling her eyes, Aelin pointed towards the door. “Out. You can have tomorrow night off. Enjoy watching the man-children ‘beat the shit out of each other’,” she said, quoting Aedion.

Blowing a kiss across the desk, Lysandra jumped up and ran back out front.

Yawning, Aelin took another long drag of her coffee.

She was exhausted. She hadn’t gotten to run this morning or take a shower or even start her laundry from the night before. But it was worth it.

Glancing at the time on her computer, she saw it was 11:45 in the morning. She wouldn’t be home until nearly 10:00 that night. Hopefully, he wouldn’t stop by when she wasn’t home. Hopefully, if he did, he wouldn’t take her lack of answer as a lack of interest.

Hopefully, she’d be seeing him again tonight.

Robbed (Lin-Manuel x Reader)

Summary: You admittedly robbed someone of an Oscar. Lin unadmittedly was robbed of an Oscar. But you meet each other so everything turns out okay in the end.

Word Count: 1,400ish (for my first fic? yikes)

Warnings: non-existent knowledge of how the Oscars actually work, a tweet more than 140 characters, shamelessly including a dancing Matt Damon.

A/N: Hi, I’m brand new. My first fic ever. I’m nervous about posting it so any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

(Yes, I am not over the Oscars yet. In my mind, Lin won and gave an acceptance speech so beautiful I wept.)

You smoothed out your dress as you posed for pictures. There was no wrinkles or folds that needed smoothing - your handler and stylist had made sure of that - but your nerves made you forget what to do with your hands and apparently smoothing the fabric that was draped around your body was the best thing you could come up with. You attempted to turn towards every direction you were being yelled at from, giving them what you hoped to be good shots, but you were too busy overthinking your every move to care about how good you looked in the pictures.

“[Y/N], Center Stage wants an interview.” your handler stepped in, adjusting the bottom of your dress so you could walk without tripping before leading you further down the red carpet. You marveled at the sheer star power you found yourself surrounded by as you walked.
