Pairing: 11th Doctor x Reader
Prompt: Can you do an 11th doctor x reader where the reader constantly on the verge of tears and one day the doctor notices and asks about it all day and she keeps saying it’s nothing, but gets mad at her for always hiding her feelings, ultimately breaking their trust and making her feel like she should die, but she realizes it’s because he cares about her and wants to understand her? This is really long sorry you can shorten it if you like. Xx
You let out little sniffles as tears welled up in your eyes. You stared down at the console, half-listening to the Doctor as he ran around you and the console. They were in-between adventures at the moment and the Doctor was getting antsy. You gave a small smile as your vision blurred with un-shed tears. You could always count on him to make you smile.
You tuned back in.
“-e was quite the strange fellow! Always going on about painting and rare art pieces. Yes, he enjoyed collecting them. However, he was interesting to talk to and he could make a good cup of tea! Such a good conversationalist I’d been perfectly oblivious to the fact that he was pregnant and having triplets!” He rambled on before pulling up a lever with a happy little sigh.
“Isn’t the miracle of life so brilliant, (Y/N)?” He asked, looking over to you with a bright grin. However, it faded when he took in your glassy eyes. He turned to face you completely with a serious look on his face. “(Y/N)? What’s wrong?” You shook your head quickly before wiping at your eyes. “Nothing. Just womanly things.” The Doctor straightened up before looking away with a light blush and clearing his throat looking extremely uncomfortable.
“Uh, I see. Well, I’ll just leave you to it.” He said in a rush before running out of the room. You stared after him with a glum look before turning and looking back down at the console.
This happened a few more times over the past few weeks.(Months? Days? You weren’t always sure with him.) You would tear up and he would come over in concern to try and figure out what was wrong with you. Then, you would make up some bullshit excuse to get him off you. However, you noticed that he seemed to get more and more annoyed and frantic every-time he came over to you and you brushed him off.
Today seemed to be no different.
You teared up while you were leaning against the console and the Doctor was imputing coordinates for some sort of vacation planet. A part of you doubted that it would be so relaxing and stuff. There would probably be an invasion or a type of threat or maybe you both would somehow manage to offend the alien leader.
Knowing the Doctor, it would not be a surprise.
And, like it happened before, the Doctor jogged over to you and lifted your chin. His eyes peering into yours. “(Y/N), tell me what is wrong.” He asked, or demanded actually. You shook your head before speaking in a shaky tone. “It’s nothing. I just-” You were interrupted when the Doctor got angry and yelled. “Stop lying to me!”
You stared at him with a dropped jaw and looked at him in surprise. He stared at you with dark eyes filled with a type of unwavering intensity. “Don’t lie to me, (Y/N). I was willing to let it go whenever you began crying. But, I can’t anymore. I can’t deal with you lying to me. Just tell me, okay?” He told you trying to calm down and get answers.
You slowly shook your head. “Please. Doctor, I can’t tell you. Just leave me be, okay? I just can’t.” The Doctor was silent as he stared down at you with an unreadable expression. “Why do you do this?” He asked finally. You gave him a confused look. “Do what?” “Hide from me. Hide your feelings. Lie to me. Do you not trust me? Is that it?”
You gave him a hurt look. “Of course I trust you.” “Then why do you lie? Why do you hide? If you tell me, I’ll be able to help you. I know I could. But, I won’t be able to if you don’t tell me.” You remained stubborn and refused to give in. “You can’t.” The Doctor finally exploded.
“Why are you being such an ape?! Do you not understand?! Do you trust me so little?! Do you want to cry? Do you like the tears, is that it? I can help you! I can help you and stop you from crying! Do you not care?! Why are you being such an idiot?!” He was breathing hard by the end of it, his eyes dark from hurt, worry, and anger.
You stared up at him through tears. The tears fell from your eyes and all you could do was look at him with sadness and heart-break. Was that how he always thought of you? As a dumb ape? You let out a whimper as you slowly backed away.
His eyes widened as regret and guilt washed over him. “(Y/N). I’m so-” “Leave me alone.” You hissed and he froze mid-step as he had began walking towards you. You eyed him before running away. You could hear him call after you but you continued to run. One destination in mind. Your room.
That night you cried yourself to sleep. And by the time you woke up your eyes were red and puffy and you felt horrible. You slowly got up and shuffled to the door to go make yourself some hot chocolate. Who cares if it is in the morning?
You turned the knob and the door swung open and before you could step out you noticed the Doctor asleep next to your door. Despite the anger you felt towards him, you couldn’t help but feel warm inside. You remembered hearing him whine and beg you to let him in the night before. You ignored him and eventually he stopped. He must’ve waited outside your door for you to come out all night.
You, against your will, began smiling at how adorable he is. You shook your head to clear those thoughts. You were supposed to be angry. You cleared your throat and walked to the kitchen.
… For now.~
