this is probably one of my favorite moments in the whole show

Favorite little Got7 things:

alright! *cracks knuckles* let’s talk about klance! i know all these points have been made in other posts but i’m just irritated and want to make my own post lmfao. i don’t understand people who say keith and lance don’t have any chemistry/potential/”romantic” moments…like…are you watching the same show that i’m watching? you don’t have to like the ship, dude, but there is no denying there’s something going on.

lance, your bi is showing.

do i even need to talk about the, “we are a good team” scene? this was ridiculously gay. holy fuck. tender hand holding. EVEN THE WAY KEITH SAYS LANCE’S NAME IS TENDER. they just sit there holding hands the whole time. they could have let go, either one of them could have let go, dude. keith wasn’t helping lance up. he kneeled down next to him and just…fucking held his hand? those soft smiles? lance doing the “fond eyebrow raise”? gay. and i know the purple lighting is from the galra crystal, but like…wow this whole set up was romantic as hell. seriously, sit back and imagine if one of them were a girl. boom, romantic. everyone would see it. so why is it so hard for some of y’all to see it here? not to mention the fact that we never actually saw the supposed “cradling” (i refuse to believe “I cradled you in my arms!” refers to this hand holding. there has to be more. a full on cradle). that was probably so fucking gay. AND THE EPISODE RIGHT AFTER, WHEN LANCE IS IN THE HEALING POD, KEITH BEING AN IMPATIENT LITTLE FUCK, FULL ON POUTING, TAPPING THE POD BECAUSE ALLURA WON’T LET LANCE OUT OF IT YET. EVEN THOUGH SHE SAID “JUST A FEW MORE TICKS.”

like, this boy can’t even fucking wait a few ticks because he just wants to see lance. there is no way to deny that he wants to see lance, talk to him, probably about their bonding moment. i bet he thinks everything is going to be different between him and lance now.

he’s also the last one to walk away from the pod. *eye emoji* why did they choose to show that? what was the Point? then, when lance comes out of the healing pod, keith gets this precious little smile on his face. he’s happy to see him. looking forward to talking about feelings and shit, most likely.

but! lance instantly flirts with allura and keith just says, “Classic.” he then proceeds to look salty as fuck with his signature broody arm crossing included. this poor boy. you’re killing him lance, you really are.

not to mention the many other times he has appeared jealous when lance is flirting. (”Jealousy, thy name is Keith.”) i’m not posting screencaps of all those moments because i’m so lazy and like i said, all these points have been made in other posts and i got other shit i’m focusing on.

here it is, the iconic, “We had a bonding moment! I cradled you in my arms!” scene. listen. i honestly can’t even think of a reason why keith would bring this up, unless he has a big fat crush on lance. it just did not fit into the conversation at all. let me type it out for y’all even though you probably don’t need me to. we’ve analyzed this to hell and back already but…

Lance: “Wow. Thanks, everybody. Sounds like the mice did more than you, though.”
Keith: “I punched Sendak!”
Lance: “Yeah, apparently after I emerged from a coma and shot his arm off.”
Keith, looking completely fucking devastated: “We had a bonding moment. I cradled you in my arms!” (his voice CRACKS)

honestly, he looks like he just witnessed his world fall apart around him. #mood

i don’t know about you, but this would not be my reaction unless, like i said, i had a big fat crush on the other person. he looks so betrayed, oh my god. and lance…wow. lance says, “Nooope. Don’t remember, didn’t happen.” now, is it just me or is this totally lance being a little shit about the fact that keith didn’t remember him in the first episode when they’re saving shiro? i bet it is.

alright, now this here, this is my favorite. this screenshot is titled “GAY this is so fucking GAY” in my files because um? their faces? those are very fond and tender expressions. this whole scene was so gay i stg. keith was flirting up a storm with this boy and it was amazing. let’s not forget that the planet lance was on with nyma highkey had the bi flag colors and there was two rainbows in this episode. symbolism, guys. these things mean a lot and are very important in animation. (there’s a lot more symbolism that many people have pointed out, including what i said above but my ass don’t have the time to put them all here)

the flirtation is strong in this one. here’s some more moments (i probably didn’t put them all idk i can’t remember) where keith is either a) flirty or b) looking at lance with that oh so soft expression. he doesn’t really look at any of the other characters like this (definitely not at allura lmfao), at least not that i’ve noticed. correct me if i’m wrong.

wow keith you’re soooo cool…

a very underappreciated Soft Look.

this whole scene kills me every time, i love everything about it.

PROUD OF LANCE FOR COMING UP WITH A SICK ASS PLAN!

this still haunts me. it haunts all of us. why!!! did!!! he!!! say!!! it!!! like!!! that!!! you can hear the winky face in his voice. the way he says this is equivalent to 100 winky faces. if you don’t think this is blatant flirting, you’re a lost cause.

of course you were. of course. you want his attention. it’s okay, we know, lance.

LOOK AT THAT SMIRK KEITH IS SPORTING!!! anyways, that is the face of someone flirting. i make the same damn face keith makes when i flirt. if one of them were a girl, IT WOULDN’T EVEN BE A QUESTION. IT WOULD BE OBVIOUS FLIRTING AND PEOPLE WOULD SHIP THE HELL OUT OF IT. but no, they’re two boys. dudes bein’ dudes. just guys bein’ bros. wow, what a great bromance.

now, just for shits and giggles, let us compare how keith looks when he’s literally cradling allura in his arms vs. when he’s holding hands with lance.

he deadass looks like this -_- with allura. there’s actually a fucking…slight frown on his face now that i really look at it, oh my god. even when allura removes herself and blushes, he still looks like that. now, wouldn’t you think that, hm…if they wanted it to be known that keith wants to smooch allura, they’d at least put a slight blush on his face to match allura’s or maybe have him appear to be a little flustered?

he’s gay. i can’t imagine him not being gay. (imo, him being galra is a big metaphor for him being gay. coming to terms with who he is and “coming out” to the other paladins. everything hunk says to him in “The Belly of the Weblum” are common things straight people say to gay people. a lot of people in the fandom seem to agree with this, but maybe we’re all just reaching idk) i just feel like…someone who likes girls would have a different reaction than keith’s when faced with a beautiful girl like princess allura in their arms. yeah, i know, this has already been said. but!!! it’s!!! true!!! all of their “romantic” scenes together were awkward, forced and came right out of nowhere and keith just…had no reaction. compare that to all the faces he’s made at lance. yeah. the difference is ridiculously obvious.

there’s honestly so much more i want to add to this, stuff from the comics and more subtle things (including a screencap of lance’s face in “Escape from Beta Traz” when he’s talking about keith and how he does cool shit. boy had the most fond expression known to man. u know the one), but everything has already been said by someone else. i’ll end it by saying this, again, because i’m really fucking salty: if one of these boys were a girl, there would be ZERO question about the purpose of these interactions. it would all be seen as flirting and romantic. it’s such a common trope. red and blue. fire and ice. they balance each other out. peace the heck out.

In Regards to Hate: On Victuuri

I don’t know what suddenly happened again but there’s a shitton of hate for Victuuri/Viktuuri(/etc) in the tags lately. People are welcome to feel however they want for a particular ship, but I just wanted to give my two cents by tackling the common complaints I’ve seen. I’ll start from the beginning so I’ll be addressing basically all the arguments against this ship I’ve seen so far. I’ve tried to maintain some sort of order for these, but honestly I just winged it at some point.  A lot of these arguments are also heavily character-based, so keep in mind that I’ll be deconstructing several scenes as well as character motivations as I go.  (As a note, this assumes you’ve seen the whole show. Also, I’m only using canon evidence from the show itself.)

This is like an informal follow-up to my super old post but also not really.

No I’m not avoiding work why would you say that.

WARNING: This is a massive post/wall of text. Grab popcorn.

Langst i thought about late at night im sorry

ok so i don’t have a lot of evidence on this considering i don’t have screenshots and i really need to binge voltron again but im making this off of pure memory so hear me out ok? im porbably looking way too deep into this lmao

I think Lance feeling like he’s a seventh wheel is completely justified.

Alright so everyone has had that moment where you make a joke and everybody just stay silent like it isnt funny, right? Well if you think about it, Lance has those moments every time he makes a joke or tries to lighten the mood, all of the time. Nobody really laughs at his comments or even pays much attention to them in the first place, only gets glares in return.

Now clearly, Lance usually cracks a joke for comic relief, but apparently no one else finds it funny. For example, he comes out of the pod after healing and everyone is happy to see him.  But as soon as he starts talking, people just groan and act like, “Oh, it’s that Lance, he hasn’t changed one bit,” and act clearly annoyed. Even his idol, Shiro, acts fed up with his shit- which in some cases is justified, but most times, it shouldnt matter, he’s just trying to be funny lmao.  Lance probably feels, unwanted, out of place, like he is the fifth wheel because no one really accepts him, and everyone finds him annoying.

Its not even just with Lance’s sense of humor, too.

People always think his ideas are stupid.

For example, the iconic scene where he keeps Keith from running straight into the danger that could get both of them killed, he suggests his alternate idea. Keith- who usually thinks Lance’s ideas are dumb, automatically jumps to the conclusion that his idea is going to be. Before he can argue, though, he works it out and sees that maybe Lance’s alternate route is a good idea.

People disagree with the way he wants to complete something, in season 2, Lance comes up with the idea to form Voltron in a situation and everyone vouches against it, however 30 seconds later, they end up forming Voltron, like he said, anyway.

Another reason, people also think little of him, they underestimate him, and that all starts with the Garisson. He was told that the only reason he ever got at his fighter pilot class was because his rival was kicked out of school, and without that he shouldnt have even been there. Again, he feels out of place, and like he doesnt belong. Then, his idol, his hero, Shiro, shows up, and when he finally feels like he has a purpose, like he could accomplish something amazing, but then Keith shows up. Even then, he doesnt give up, he is like “um excUSE ME BITCH I CALLED SAVING SHIRO FIRST” And once again, he doesnt want his rival that always beat him to do that once again.

And again in season two, there’s clearly favoritism happening between Keith and Shiro, and Lance is jealous of course. Like, he finally gets to meet and work with his idol, and when he wants to go with Shiro on a mission, SHiro chooses Keith over him. Man, I wonder why he’s so overdramatic about it. Its not like he was treated the same damn way at the gaRISSON OR ANYTHING NAHH

No, but clearly, he has an inferiority complex, especially when it comes to keith, because he knows hes better than him in every way.

People in the show also deny that he has any good skills, and even he himself starts to believe it, when sorta venting to the yupper. (i die a little inside whenever i see it)

I loved it when shiro gave him praise for once because it was specifically for him and not directed at the whole time. It was good job LANCE

And honestly the pride on his face was so heartwarming like omg thank you shiro for ackowledging him

im probably going way off track but anyway

daily dose of what its like in my mind 24/7 lmao

I hope in season 3 they kinda bring his insecurities up again as a sort of conflict i mean- with Keith possibly becoming Black Paladin, Lance is probably gonna be hella jealous and im sure thats gonna instigate a fight between them, and now theres not really a mediator. So. Fantastic…..

Guys i feel like a lot fo stuff goes right back to shiro, how lance probably aspires to be like him, or be good in his eyes and therefore be good for the rest of the team but hes having this inferiority complex because he feels unappreciated. Like hes just that annoying guy they dont really need and they could replace him if they wanted to, and keeping all of those thoughts hidden or masked by this confident facade is like

lance youre gonna break at some point

I hope lance gets the recognition and the acknowledgement he deserves in season 3 i swear he better not be tossed under the rug.

Something About a Feeling

This is it. My blood, sweat, and tears. It’s been a long time coming with this one, so I want to thank @trulymadlysydney and @outofworkactress for giving me the words I need to hear so I can finally release this into the world. I feel like a mother on their child’s first day of school. It’s a bittersweet feeling.

In the words of @permanentcross, this is my favorite sandbox to mess with, and the more I try to explain it, the worse it turns out, but simply stated, Harry is infatuated with a girl who would never want him.

I’ve edited this a thousand times, and it’s still not perfect, but if I don’t let this little bird fly away now, it never will. So, please be kind. I’m trying my hardest. x

The first time he sees you, a mere glance from across the room, he has to remind himself he has a girlfriend. A lovely woman, she was, like most of the female counterparts he took in his life, but like most woman he chose to spend his time with, they all had one thing in common. Temporary. He knew he was growing closer to the end with this one; Hannah, a friend of a friend who was easy on the eyes, laughed at his sore attempts at jokes, and quite simply, knew she herself was as temporary as a toothbrush. They’d keep each other company for the time being and a couple of months down the road, they’d part ways, and the rest would be history. Simple as that.

But the first time he sees you, cuddled a little too close to his best mate, peering down at his phone as a small giggle escaped your parted lips, he stops dead in his tracks and backtracks. You were a catch.

Niall had his arm swung behind you, resting carelessly along the wooden seats, and Harry almost digs at himself as he resorts back to their conversation the night before wondering if he had missed the part in text where Niall stated he’d be bringing a female guest of interest. He doesn’t remember anything of the sort, but it doesn’t go unnoticed when he hands his beer out to you, and you instantly wince when the dark lager meets your lips.

Looks like he was playing third wheel tonight.

Lance headcanon

Ok so we know that Pidge is a computer mastermind: she hacked into the garrison(probably multiple times), was able to create a complete fake identity, and still created more advanced scanners than what the garrison had.

We know that hunk is possibly a engineering genius: Even if he puts it more to cuisine, he could easily build a rocket engine out of scrap parts. We’ve seen him fix alien power thrusters that he has never seen before, or at least had very little knowledge of.

So why would they place the two smartest people the garrison has seen in probably years, with Lance? Someone that everyone thinks is just an average pilot? Someone who only got into the fighter pilot classes because Keith dropped out? But what if he wasn’t just an average cargo pilot that got lucky like everyone thought?

I headcanon that Lance is a tactical prodigy! A strategic mastermind! That he can come up with some of the most brilliant war tactics and battle plans that would trump any generals ideas for years to come!

Think about him using his gift to help organize some sort of Cuban resistance against its corrupted government( I don’t know the real situation in Cuba, or if anything is going on in Cuba, but just follow this for the head canon…au-ish thing I got going on.) and his plans help the people win against their government, and Lance is just happy now that his family will be safe and happy in their home.

The American government hears about this Cuban boy who pretty much lead the way to freedom for his country, about his prodigy status. And then they find out that the kid wants to be a pilot. And they take advantage of this.

They give this Cuban boy a free pass to America to go to the Garrison to become a pilot, and all he has to do is make battle plans for them every now and then. And of course Lance takes the opportunity, his whole family standing behind his decision to be the best pilot to come out of the Garrison.

Now they put Lance into the cargo pilot class at first, to keep him sated, and for awhile it works out. Lance is doing great in his classes, he’s even #1 in the cargo pilot class, and he sends the government any tactics, battle plans, etc. that he creates. Lance even made friends with his roommate, who is an incredible engineer and friend. But Lance wants more, he doesn’t want to stay a cargo pilot, he wants to be a fighter pilot, so he works harder in school to be able to move up. only problem? Keith took the last placement in the fighter pilot class, and now Lance’s government work is kind of lacking its usual brilliance.(can you blame him? His dream has been thwarted by some guy with a mullet! Of course he isn’t really doing his best.)

But then Keith gets kicked out because of some anger problems. So the higher ups make Iverson move up Lance and Hunk to fighter pilot and engineer, hoping that this will get Lance back into his usual groove. Iverson doesn’t like this, but orders are orders. So Lance and Hunk move up, and Pidge joins the group. But that doesn’t mean Iverson has to be nice to Lance, so he does all that he can to remind him that he’s only there because of Keith.

And then they all find Shiro, then join Voltron, and Lance can’t wait to help the team with his thing! He can’t wait to show them that he isn’t just a good shot, but an even better strategic mastermind! But the only one who really knows about Lance’s gift is Hunk, after long nights of listening to Lance talk in English and Cuban about tactical advantages and every battle plan he’s thought of. The others just think that Lance is just a flirt, who doesn’t really take anything seriously. So whenever he tries to put in his own ideas, he get shut down before he can really tell hem his ideas. It makes him start questioning his talent, and his place on the team.

Then during a mission, things go south. Fast. And Lance tries to offer up his plan on how to get out of there, but again he gets shut down again, something like “ shut up Lance! We’re trying to figure out how to get out of here, we don’t need your stupid jokes!” From who, that’s kinda up in the air at the moment. Then, uh oh! Lance gets captured while their escaping!

And Hunk is pissed. Beyond pissed! As soon as the team meets up to try and talk, Hunk goes OFF ON THEM!!! He tells everyone how Lance is a prodigy tactician and strategic genius, and that if they only listened to Lance than everyone might have made it out safe and Lance wouldn’t have been captured. And of course everyone is now feeling bad that they’ve always ignored Lance or shut him down before he could say his ideas. And Slav is now freaking out, because they have technology that can take information from people’s minds, and if the Galra find out about Lance’s talent, that could be really bad for them.

At first, the Galra do the usual thing; torture, regular beatings, rarely feeding him. But he isn’t spilling anything, so they use that machine on Lance, hoping to get information on Voltron. But when they find out that his brain is filled with incredible battle plans, you can bet your ass that they continue to use this machine to use his tactics against voltron. And all the while Lance is in constant pain, for the machine, from his injuries, and he can’t stop it. He can’t protect his friends, instead the thing everyone has called ‘a gift’ is going to hurt his friends. And he can’t do anything to stop it.

Wow, that was a lot longer than I was planning. but yeah, lance being crazy brilliant. I totally headcanon it. So I hoped you like, and if you got any questions, don’t be afraid to ask them!

hiiii, here are a bunch of fics I’ve enjoyed and loved reading throughout the month of february. I recommend that you read these great fics in march, if you haven’t already. there are SO many good and unique AUs this round, so please check them out!!

Archie Andrews Imagine

“I Hate Parties”

Summary: Betty and Veronica were always dragging you out to parties, the only thing that makes this one any better is the arrival of the one and only Archie Andrews.

Word count: 3030

a/n: It’s way longer than I thought it was gonna be but what the heck. Sorry if it sucks but I suck so it’s appropriate.

Parties had never really been your thing. Like you liked going out sometimes, and every once in a while you would be in the mood to dance, but after a while it just felt boring. Every time you got ready on Friday nights with Betty and Veronica you would be excited; ‘This time will be different,’ you’d think to yourself. But time after time it would end up the same way with the same house of people dancing to the same music and playing the same game of beer pong. Tonight was no exception.

“Can we leave yet?” you yelled over the booming bass to B and V, trailing behind them.

Veronica turned her head to answer you, “Okay, we literally, and I mean literally, just walked in. You haven’t even had time to get bored yet!” She pushed through the crowd and led the trio to the bar in the corner of the room. “So,” she turned to you and Betty with 3 shot glasses, “shots anyone?”

You rolled your eyes and looked to Betty for a go/no-go. “I’m convinced that you have some sort of radar or sonar or something when it comes to finding alcohol” Betty joked back.

“It’s residual from my days in New York,” she said handing each of you a shot glass. “Gentlemen, to our wives and girlfriends,” she started the usual toast looking at the two of you expectantly. You turned you Betty and completed it simultaneously laughing, “May they never meet” and downed the shot, feeling the vodka burn all the way down your throat. You weren’t a huge fan of alcohol, yet another reason parties weren’t your favorite place, but being drunk was fun sometimes. Since it was the getting drunk that was the annoying part, you generally stuck to vodka. You preferred its nail polish remover taste that could get the job done faster to the slow-working, carbonated urine formally known as beer.

Just then, the music changed to “Cake by the Ocean” by DNCE, a song that was notoriously Betty’s jam. Her eyes widened and she jumped up in down in excitement. “We have to dance!” she squealed pulling your and Veronica’s wrists toward the dance floor.

“I think I’m gonna sit this one out guys,” you explained trying to get out of this inevitable public display of embarrassment.

“What, you don’t dance Chad Danforth?” Veronica teased in a very Veronica-esque way. Betty chimed in, “Because we all know how that ends, Chad dances with Ryan like the whole time”.

“It’s not that I’m too good to dance, it’s just I’m not drunk yet enough to dance”

That must have been an acceptable answer because Betty simply pointed at you and began to back away with Veronica in tow with a “Hey batter batter, hey batter batter, swang,” to which you yelled back over the growing crowd with your hands cupped around your mouth, “I’ve got to just do my thang!”

B and V faded behind an ocean of people and you were alone. Just you and the vodka. Speaking of the vodka…

You turned to the bar and poured yourself another shot and stuck your tongue out at the offensive taste. You poured some coke into a red solo cup and started to walk away then thought better. You turned around and poured some more vodka in with the coke. What? It was gonna be a long night.

You made your way through the room, deliberately avoiding the table with the jungle juice and found a dimly lit corner to lean in.

I wonder where Archie is right now? It’s not like he normally hangs out with us at parties anyway. Since they always happen after football games he usually hangs out with the rest of the team, but you were curious. You would never admit it to anyone, not even Betty or Veronica and especially not to Archie, but you’d had feelings for him for quite some time. There were times when you wanted to tell him about it, he was one of your friends after all, but you truly felt that he didn’t feel the same way. It wasn’t worth the risk.

“You like hanging out in dark corners, loner?”

Speak of the devil and he shall appear. You could identify that voice anywhere: the one and only Archie Andrews.

“You like staring into dark corners, creeper?” you shot back.

Archie chuckled and approached with open arms for a friendly hug. “Hey y/n,”

“Hey Tom Brady, great game.” You pulled out from the hug but stayed standing close to him to be able to hear each other over the loud music.

He smiled, “It wasn’t exactly the Super Bowl, but thank you. So, what are you drinking?” He plucked the plastic cup out of your hand. “This isn’t the jungle juice, is it?” he questioned with a slightly alarmed but mostly joking tone. Reggie’s jungle juice was pretty famous, or more accurately infamous.

“God no,” you shook your head, “It’s just coke.”

“Good. Stay away from the jungle juice.” He took a sip and did a bit of a spit take into a nearby plant overdramatically. He looked at you with a faux-shocked expression. “Just coke, huh y/n?”

“Just coke as in mostly coke. As in there’s slightly more coke than vodka.”

“Alcohol’s illegal for people our age you know,” he warned just before he drank half of the cup’s contents.

You narrowed your eyes and leaned toward him as if trying to get a better look, “Why, you a cop?”

He glanced around, checking that the imaginary coast was clear before he leaned in. “You ever seen 21 Jump Street?”

“Ah,” you nodded.

“Yeah.” He said with a laugh, straightening his back and returned the cup to your hand. You thought his hand had lingered for a second touching yours; you were probably just imagining it. You had to be imagining it, but the moment was over before you could really be sure.

“Uh,” you tried to regain your composure. “Betty and Veronica were in the other room dancing the last time I saw them,” You offered figuring this had to be his destination. You were friends/friendly with him but they were all really close. The only reason you even knew Archie in the first place is because you had become good friends with the girls.

He shrugged his shoulders, “Okay.” He blinked at you and didn’t move. You tried to suppress the smile that was threatening to show itself. Maybe he was here for you. The electronic music blared on and you scanned the room, looking for nothing in particular in an attempt to make yourself busy, or at least make yourself look busy. The house was filled to the brim with a mix of people, some you knew, some you didn’t. People were singing and dancing and yelling and drinking and smoking and—okay, you couldn’t ignore it anymore. Archie was still looking at you! You could feel his eyes on you from the side.

You glanced at him and couldn’t help but let out a nervous laugh. He was just smiling down at you like a fool. “Is… is there something I can do for you Mr. Andrews?”

He smirked, keeping a laugh to himself, “No, it’s just,” he shook his head looking down at his feet. “Nah, never mind.”

“Oh, come on! What? Do I have something on my face? Is my hair messed up?” You ran your fingers through your hair trying to fix any possible issues.

“No, you look great. I was uh,” he looked back up at you. “It was just that you looked really cute.” He shrugged his shoulders and looked off to the rest of the party, the flashing lights washing his face with a blue and red light, hitting his cheekbones in just the right way to leave a shadow in the hollows of his cheeks. It wasn’t until that moment that you really noticed how close he was standing to you. He was at max 6 inches from you; he could lean forward the tiniest bit and kiss you (if he were so inclined). It all felt too good to be true. He had to be drunk or something.

“How many drinks have you had?”

“Just the sip of your ‘mostly coke’. Why?”

For some reason this answer bothered you more than if he had been drunk. The fact that he called you ‘cute’ while being almost completely sober was, as far as you could tell, reason for alarm. “Let’s go find some drinks.” Frankly, you needed another one.

You grabbed him by the wrist so you wouldn’t lose him in the crowd and began to push through the mess of sweaty bodies toward the familiar bar. You would have made it too, if it weren’t for the jungle juice. You were walking past the table with the punch bowl of the “juice” on it, the bar was in sight, when some random drunk guy with a cup full of, you guessed it, Reggie’s famous jungle juice rammed into you, spilling the entire contents of the cup all over your shirt. Your mouth hung open and the people around you all gasped.

Archie pushed between you and the guy, “Hey man, why don’t you watch where you’re going?” There was some real anger in his voice, and you weren’t going to lie, it was pretty hot.

“Well why don’t you mind your own business?” the guy said getting right in Archie’s face. He opened his mouth to respond but before he could get anything out you put your hand on his shoulder from behind him.

“Archie?”

He looked down at you, clenching his jaw. “C’mon Arch, it’s not worth it.”

He looked back up at the guy for a moment then back down at you. The crowd that had gathered around you all waiting in anticipation for Archie’s response.

He nodded his head, “I know where the bathroom is,” the crowd of people returned to their former activities with sounds of general dismay that there hadn’t been a fight. “Let’s go see what the damage is.” He grabbed your hand in his and led you in the opposite direction as the bar, down a hallway, and into a bathroom.

It was pretty dark in the house so you couldn’t really see how badly it had spilled on your shirt yet. Archie closed the door behind you while you felt around on the wall for a light switch. You flipped on the switch and he immediately gasped sharply.

“Is it that bad?” you asked. You couldn’t being yourself to look in the mirror yet.

“No… I mean it’s…” He tried to think of some consolation to give, unsuccessfully. “Yeah, it is that bad.”

You hesitantly turned to face the mirror, squinting enough to delay the inevitable. Your eyes sprung open and you found that yes, it truly was that bad.

“Oh my god.”

“I told you.”

“This shirt ruined! How am I supposed to wear this for the rest of the night?”

“Well, you did say you wanted to find another drink. I guess it found you first,” You looked at him in the mirror and rolled your eyes. “And I did warn you to stay away from the jungle juice” he laughed getting a closer look at the stain.

You turned to him and sighed, “I have to go home. There’s no way I can walk around like this.” You still didn’t like parties, and this was no exception, but you were actually getting to hang out with Archie alone. This was just your luck.

“Take my shirt,” He blurted out, rather loudly.

“Take your shirt? Like the one you’re wearing right now? Arch as much as I’m sure that every girl at this party would love to see you walking around shirtless, neither of us are at that point of drunkenness yet.”

“It’s fine. Even if you’re got my jersey, I’ve still got my letterman,” he countered, already peeling off his jacket and throwing it on the floor. “It’s not like I’ll be completely shirtless.” You thought about this for a moment before hesitantly nodding your head in agreement. You really didn’t want this night to end just yet. Plus, shirtless Archie.

You took off your stained t-shirt and threw it in the trash, no stain remover was powerful enough to work on that jungle juice. You stood awkwardly in just your plain black bra. You definitely had cuter, but you hadn’t planned on anyone, especially not Archie, seeing you shirtless tonight. Archie pulled off his jersey leaving both of you half naked. And let me tell you he was built with a capital B. Just as he was handing you the jersey, the bathroom door flings open. It seems neither of you had remembered to lock it in the chaos of the dark.

Kevin Keller stumbled into the room, clearly at least a little bit intoxicated. It took him a second but when he finally realized what he had walked into, at least what it looked like he had walked into, his eyes widened dramatically taking in the scene. It was understandable. You were sure this looked a lot worse than it really was.

“Oops!” he exclaimed.

“Kevin, it’s really not what it looks like,” you tried to explain to him with your hands out in front of you as if trying to calm a wild animal.

“Don’t even worry about it you guys. Your secret’s safe with me,” he tried to wink at you but the alcohol in his system just turned it into a sloppy blink. This sentiment did nothing to ease your concern. Kevin was not the person people told secrets to. Kevin was the person people told when they wanted the whole town to know something.

Archie tried to stop him too, “No, Kevin man, it’s not like that. Her shirt just-“

“Hey, you don’t have to explain yourselves to me. I always knew Archie - Y/n would happen. Don’t you worry about a thing. My lips are sealed.” He stumbled out of the bathroom and Archie quickly shut the door behind him, locking it this time.

You both stood in an awkward silence for a few seconds, neither of you knowing exactly what to say.

After about 30 seconds you asked already knowing the answer, “He’s definitely going to go tell Betty and Veronica about this, right?”

“I’m sure they already know.”

You nodded your head and took the jersey from his hand. He slung on the jacket and waited for you. You pulled his jersey over your head. It was big on you but not too big. It smelled like Archie. It felt right. He opened the door and you followed him out of the room, only for him to stop abruptly. You ran into him and then peered over his shoulder at what had stopped him. Who else but Cheryl Blossom joined by Josie at her side.

“Well, well, well. What do we have here?” she said in her Cheryl way, her eyes scanning up and down. “The quarterback and the rando hooking up at a party together. How cliché. Doesn’t this feel like a bad 80’s rom-com?”

Josie joined in, “Who’s Molly Ringwald in this situation?”

“I’m like Breakfast Club Molly Ringwald and Y/n’s like Sixteen Candles Molly Ringwald. That makes Archie Jake Ryan!”

Neither of you had the patience to try and explain the situation to her. Archie grabbed your hand pulling you in the other direction down the hallway. “It’s been a pleasure as usual Cheryl,” he yelled behind him.

Over the blaring music, you could just make out her say “Or maybe she’s more Pretty in Pink Molly Ringwald…”

He pulled you through a different part if the house to a patio where a few random couples were making out. They were taking up all the seating and he scratched his head not knowing where to go.

“Why don’t we just sit in the grass?” you suggested. You walked over to a far part of the lawn that was dark but still lit by the moon. The music was muffled and distant, present enough that would could have private conversation, but still muted. He sat down crisscross applesauce style and you followed suit, chuckling to yourself. You both sat with your forearms resting on your knees, leaving only a couple of inches between each other.

“We’re finally alone.” He stated quietly, sounding satisfied. The moon lit up half of his face and his fiery locks glinted as he tilted his head.

“Yeah, that’s why I come to parties. To be alone. Just me and two-hundred of my closest friends.” You breathed sarcastically.

He grinned at your reply. He looked at you for a moment. Just really looked at you. He was really seeing you.

He looked away timidly, “You look good in my jersey you know.”

You raised an eyebrow, “Yeah?” He nodded his head. You considered how to reply. “Well I guess I’m just gonna have to try out for the football team then.”

“Or,” He leaned in even closer, “alternatively,” his lips just centimeters from yours, “you could just…” He pressed his lips to yours, lightly but passionately, like it was something he’d been wanting to do for a long time. His lips were soft and it felt right, he felt right. It only lasted a couple of seconds but it felt like forever, in a good way. He pulled back and all you could both do was grin at each other.

All of a sudden, a mess of loud yelling coming from the house caught both of your attention. “Woo!!!” “Oh yeah!!!” “Get it!!!” “Hashtag Archie-Y/n!!!” Veronica and Betty were hanging out of a window calling out to the two of you. You looked up at the sky in embarrassment and Archie just shook his head at them, laughing. They pumped their fists and chanted “OTP, OTP, OTP…”

Archie stood up and put his hand out to pull you up, “Do you wanna go to Pop’s? Or anywhere that isn’t right here?” “Gladly,” you agreed, “I hate parties.”

Word Count:5.5k

Genre: Smut

“I wish you didn’t have to go so soon,” Jin whined as his girlfriend got up to leave, tugging on her hand as she stood up, as if he actually wanted her to stay. You watched as you ate your cereal, wondering how you were able to witness them together without gagging.

Nayeon was a beautiful girl, no doubt, and as far as you knew, very smart. But no matter how smart she was, she didn’t manage to see through Jin. After years of practice he perfected his little act to a T, shamelessly using it against all girls that walked his way.

“I can come back later tonight if you want,” she offered as she grabbed her purse, Jin close behind her as he led her out. Her voice was suggestive and soft and you were unable to help your grimace as you realized you might have to spend another night with your earbuds crammed into your head in order to avoid hearing them.

“I’d love if you could baby but you know I have to study for my chem final,” he lied, his excuse flowing smoothly from his lips. You rolled your eyes, one hundred percent sure he had never studied in his life. Normally he didn’t pass up an opportunity to bang unless he already had someone waiting on the side lines, which you assumed is exactly what was happening here.

“Ah okay then, I’ll text you later,” she said as she waved a goodbye to you, pretending you hadn’t been staring at them the whole time.

“Love you,” she purred as she went up on her tippy toes to kiss him, cupping his cheek in her palm.

           “Love you more.”

Okay, now you were for sure going to gag.

okay okay okay new list: top ten favorite critical role eps. IN ORDER

This is difficult, holy cow! I thought about defying this post and making a list of my ten least favorite eps, but was tragically unable to come up with ten episodes I disliked so, uh. Probably should’ve seen that coming. Okay, you win, here goes nothing, I’m definitely missing a bunch, this list changes on any give day, etc. etc. etc.

10. Episode 31: Gunpowder Plot. Every now and then, despite its huge cast, the show gets to highlight one-on-one interactions between Matt and a player. Scanlan spends the better part of an hour alone, a single gnome bard trying to navigate an ambush in an enemy stronghold. The process involves turning into a triceratops, defeating a dozen guards, breathing fire, and shoving a goliath off a flaming rooftop in the rain. That sequence is legendary for a reason.

9. Episode 25: Crimson Diplomacy. Mainly the first half, although Kit Buss is wonderful as Lilith and gets more screen time in the latter half. I think this episode kind of jump-started the more serious RPing on the show (which isn’t to say there weren’t great moments earlier!)–for the first time, it felt like it wasn’t so much the players worrying about losing a character as it was the other characters worrying about losing a friend. Vax completely failing to talk his way out of the Briarwoods’ chambers, “Jenga!”, Vex storming in with double natural twenties, “Sylas!” Matt did a phenomenal job juggling the tension in order to make this encounter feel like a difficult situation that was still winnable.

8. Episode 69: Passed Through Fire. I remember seeing a post from somebody who happened upon this episode on Twitch without having seen any of the rest of the show, and they said they were blown away by the emotional extremes in this episode alone. Pretty much everyone was crying, and then pretty much everyone was crying with laughter. There’s also the wonderful letter from Kerrek, VM doing shots, and the start of several RP threads that unravel over the course of the next few episodes. Also, the cliffhanger at the end of this one jumpstarts the endgame in a big way.

7. Episode 57: Duskmeadow. This was a really unexpected episode watching live, because the entire cast had been out doing interviews about CR all day and then came straight from that to this, so it’s a wonder anyone was coherent. And yet, true to form, we get Matt playing a dozen different recurring characters expertly, we get the long-awaited confrontation between Vax and the Raven Queen, we get a bunch of other wonderful character beats, and we get one of the most genuinely startling cliffhangers in the show, with a callback that stretches 36 episodes.

6. Episode 49: A Name Is Earned. The first half is a really archetypal low-risk fight for this show in that it showcases each of the characters’ strengths and weaknesses, often in hilarious ways–Keyleth accidentally disarming a trap, Percy attempting to hit someone with a lance and finally giving up and just shooting him, Vax stealthing by sinking into the snow up to the tips of his ears, Vex sending Trinket barrelling out as a cannonball. It’s a good time. And the sphinx’s puzzle is wonderfully fun and just complicated enough to keep everyone guessing–on rewatching, it’s great to see how Matt manages to drop hints without being too obvious about it. And, of course, the utterly heartbreaking moment where the whole Craven Edge arc comes to a head with Grog accidentally hurting Pike… oh man. So good.

5. Episode 63: The Echo Tree. The climax of the Feywild arc wound up being the payoff for a lot of character beats for Vex, and I’m not sure there’s been a villain who so easily and immediately got to the root of a character’s insecurities. Matt having this baddie incorporate the details of a short story that Laura wrote about Vex was vicious. It’s also so impressive that he was able to create a character who immediately brought up all of Vex’s insecurities and worries about putting her friends in danger, about being cruel and unwanted and never belonging, and there’s still that horrible guilt when she finally does fire on him. The sequence between Vex and Sondur is phenomenal.

4. Episodes 43/44: Return to Vasselheim/The Sunken Tomb. I’m counting this one as a two-parter because it features the same guest stars and makes up a pretty coherent little standalone. Absolute goofiness with amazingly funny little interpersonal moments between party members, guests, and NPCs; I’m a big fan of any time we get to see VM from an outsider’s perspective, and Zahra and Kash’s perspective is just the right mix of fond and sardonic. We get an oddly sweet after-school-special Grog moment, we get a beholder fight… and then we get everything going just unfathomably wrong in the last thirty minutes, completely out of nowhere. Half the party’s character arcs shifted permanently because of one failed saving throw.

3. Episode 89: Curious Tides. There aren’t a lot of recent episodes on this list, just because I generally only get to watch ‘em live and so they kind of all blur together and it becomes tough to remember specific episodes. But this one stood out. Any episode that can balance the extreme of a ritual that involves promising one god you’ll dedicate your life to killing another with the extreme of a well-meaning robot sketching the entire party while they’re sleeping? It’s a good time. Intense foreshadowing of some of the plot to come alongside hilarious (and wonderfully soothing) downtime shenanigans.

2. Episode 40: Desperate Measures. The completely world-shattering shift in the previous episode was startling enough, but it’s a testament to the RPing chops of the players and DM that they took the time to carefully play out the consequences of that change. What do you do when all the major population centers are being destroyed and any attempts to fight back are squashed? How far are you willing to go for a slim chance to instantly reverse what was done? Everyone in this episode is hurting and confused and frightened, and that comes across so well in the ways they lash out at each other. Despite the absolute crushing bleakness of the situation, this episode lays the groundwork for the emotional and plot-related beats of the next fifty episodes in the form of a tattered, piecemeal sort of hope.

1. Episode 52: The Kill Box. It’s one big battle, it should by rights drag out, but it’s so good. Every single member of the cast is so invested (Travis: “I can feel my heartbeat in my face…”), and it isn’t often that the party manages to catch Matt off-guard in a combat situation, but in this episode they just keep managing to surprise him again and again and again. And even their clever strategizing wouldn’t have been enough to save the entire party from the very real threat of a wipe once things start going sideways, if it weren’t for an absurd series of natural twenties to save the day. There have been a lot of mega-epic battles on this show since then, but none have hit this absolutely unreal combination of strategy and luck. This is the game-y part of the show at its absolute best.

Can you recommend any klance fics?.

I can definitely recommend lots of klance fics. As in, lots lots. I am not completely sure what you are looking for/what you have already read though, so I’m just gonna list some of my favorite authors with some of my favorite fics.

Quick additional info: there are no explicit fics on here, though some are rated mature. All of the stories have klance as their only ship but since I intended this to be author recs rather than fic recs, I will mention what kinds of other ships appear in other fics.

Now then, here you go, in no particular order:

manamune

- Crossroads (106k): not quite canon verse, not quite AU - check the summary

- Plunged (6k): canon verse, Lance teaches Keith how to swim

Roommates (6k): modern AU, Artist!Keith, Photographer!Lance, exactly what the title says

This author’s writing is amazingly smooth and I particularly enjoy their Keith. Crossroads was my favorite fic for a long, long time until I found some others that were just as good :D [this author also wrote some nsfw and sheith]

magisterpavus

- He Who Fights Monsters (65k): AU, there are dragons

This author has a style of writing that makes you forget that time exists. Like, you read their stories, look up 2 hours later and go “what the hell I only just started reading 5 minutes ago”. Their fics are pretty action-heavy but the romance part never falls short. [they wrote a lot of nsfw, their newest fic is shklance]

mackerelmademedoit

- Entangled (102k): canon verse, Keith and Lance get mind-melded

- Right-hand Man (4k): canon verse, Keith approaches Lance after the end of season 2 to talk about their roles from now on

Amazing characterizations here. I particularly enjoyed the OS because it seemed like something that genuinely could happen like this in canon… sadly I don’t think it will, but one can dream, right :’D Also amazing art! [they wrote some nsfw]

redburn

- it had to be you (9k): modern AU, Keith and Lance are professors, lots of flirting

- Echoes In Your Mind (7k): canon verse, Keith is turning Galra

- let the whole world know (4k): modern AU, soulmates AU

I honestly don’t know why I like this author so much? Probably because they can squeeze an entire story into less than 10k words, complete with character development and appearances from friends etc. I liked many more of their OS but there are just so many, you should check it out for yourself. [they wrote some nsfw and shallura]

varelsen

- Not That Bad (68k): modern AU, socially anxious!Keith, lots and lots of fluff

- just like that (10k): canon verse, Lance struggles with his crush on Keith

this author just? makes reading feel so good? so relaxing?? Their style is focused on conveying emotions and flows really nicely, I strongly recommend to give it a try. [their newest story is nsfw and includes lancelot]

battleshidge (Amiria_Raven)

- Drive Me Crazy (8k): modern AU, lots of flirting and stupid pick-up lines

- Next Level (33k; WIP): modern AU, online gaming, they know each other but they don’t know that they know each other

The style of writing is really, really good and I love how everyone’s friendships get portrayed. The author is also pretty good at writing conflicted emotions. [they wrote some shallura and shidge]

aknightley

- it’s all in my head (8k): canon verse, mind meld

This author is super good with emotions. You always end up feeling what the characters are feeling and I’d definitely recommend going through their other fics as well - once again, there are just so many that I won’t list them all. [they wrote some nsfw and shallura]

lemoninagin

- You Can Fog Up My Windows Anytime (3k): modern AU, all the awkward flirting

Another author that has a fantastic style of writing and portrays the characters really well. Also another author that wrote so many good things that I can’t possibly put them all on here. [they wrote some nsfw, sheith, shklance, shallura- lots of stuff, check the tags]

MilkTeaMiku

- Moonset Deep (50k, WIP): mermaid AU, lance is the mermaid

- The Quiet (40k, WIP): ghost AU, lance is the ghost

- 7 Days Series (pt 1 - 30k, pt 2 - 30k, pt 3 - 4k): canon verse, lance/keith get turned into babies

Amazing writing, plot-orientated. Don’t let that fool you though, the emotions never fall short. [they wrote some shallura, shance and other ships - also their fics aren’t rated. the ones listed are entirely sfw]

Zizzani

- Drive It Like You Mean It (94k): modern AU, street racing AU, it gets pretty intense later

This writer has a really fluent and nice style of writing and they somehow manage to easily let lots of characters interact. Everyone feels extremely in character and nothing feels forced. Also I know nothing about cars and yet their fics belong to my favorites, so give it a try. [they wrote some shallura]

shipstiel

- Of Don Juan And Elvis (3k): modern AU, soulmate AU

- Barbie Girl (2k): modern AU, soulmate AU, continuation

I’m not sure whether it’s just me but no matter what fic of them I read, they always feel– soft. Easy. Something good for in-between. One of their fics (not the ones listed here) has some pretty heavy topics in it and yet I still feel like that. [they wrote some shallura]

Gigapoodle

- A Moment in the Snow (3k): canon verse, Galra!Keith, snowball fights, fluff

- Carpe Diems and Chrysanthemums (14k): modern AU, hanahaki disease, trans Lance, angst with a happy ending

- A Quarter Past Midnight (14k): canon verse, trans Keith, angst with a happy ending

This author is amazing at writing angst. It just always hits you right in the feels. Like damn. I adore their writing so much but ho boy I was too scared to click the one Chara Death fic they wrote. I couldn’t do that to myself, the two longer OS that I listed here already gave me enough feelings. [they wrote some shallura]

Trashness

- Nightmares (15k): canon verse, sleeping together, as in snuggling, fluff

- Costumed Identities (42k): modern AU, cosplay AU, they know each other but they don’t know they know each other

This author writes Keith’s and Lance’s interactions really nicely. They also never fail to make me smile/laugh with their fics, they are all really cute!! Lots of light heartened stuff here.

SKayLanphear

- Running Flat (11k): canon verse, thought sharing, lance is trying to figure out who has the crush on him

- A Commutal Contract (24k, WIP): canon verse, bed sharing

I really really really enjoy this author’s Lance!! He feels incredibly in character and I swear I can see him act in canon just like he does in the fics. Their style of writing is fluent, nice and adapts really well to the situation.

[I also really enjoy witty_name’s and freshia’s fics, both of whom usually put background shallura into their fics though so I couldn’t list them here]

Aaaand that’s it for now! :D If you have a specific length/specific topics/specific ratings in mind for what you want to read, feel free to send another message!! You can also visit the fic rec tag on my blog, maybe you’ll find something else there.

/EDIT: now there is a part two with some other of my favorite fics

Author’s Note: Heyy guys! This is my entry for @buckysmetallicstump‘s Disney Quote Challenge. My quote is bolded! I hope you guys like this! I’m still trying to get back into the groove of writing. I’m sorry if this isn’t up to par. *hides face* feedback is always welcomed!!

the last ten months

prompt: the last ten months of your relationship with lin and he shows up at your doorstep

pairing: lin manuel miranda x reader

word count: 2,790 someoNE TAKE THE ALPHABET AWAY FROM ME

warnings: mentions of sex, light swearing probably, lil bit of angst

a/n: i’m actually really proud of this but lemme know what u think xoxoxoxo

now

You heard the knock on your door but tried to ignore it. It was 2:03 a.m., and you had a show tomorrow. When the pounding got louder, you groaned. Grumbling, you blindly patted your nightstand looking for your glassed. Pushing them onto your face, you pulled yourself towards the door.

You had barely hiked up your sweats by the time you saw him.

Lin.

He was soaked to the bone, dripping on your front step. You had to rub your eyes to make sure you were seeing this right, the previous ten months flashing before you as he breathed out:

“Y/N.”

ten months before.

You had been studying there for no more than an hour when the door chimed. Usually, you were the only one here. The coffee shop was practically off the grid and on the verge of going bankrupt, so the signal of a customer surprised you. Nevertheless, you went back to studying for your chemistry exam.

But when you heard his laugh, your head shot up. He was on the phone. You tried to go back to your work again.

Each time though, it got harder and harder to solve the never ending equations in front of you. Sighing, you threw your pencil down.

The brunette two tables away turned. Sheepishly, you mumbled an apology. He had his computer out now, probably working on something. He smiled though, something you don’t see often enough in New York.

“Whatcha working on?” he added before you could ignore him.

You looked down at your work before responded, “Chemistry,” you sighed.

“Yikes,” he laughed, “I failed that as a sophomore.”

That made you grin, turning a little so you could see him more clearly.

“What about you?” you pushed. His smiled grew, making your chest swirl,

“This,” he said, patting his computer, “is my current pride and joy.”

Your eyebrows shot up, interested.

“I’m writing a musical.” he said. You instinctively leaned forward, wanting to hear more. “It’s about Alexander Hamilton.”

“First Secretary of Treasury.”

His eyes lit up, “Yeah!”

He moved his chair closer, “I’m Lin,” he said as he extended his hand.

“Y/N,” you smiled.

nine months before

He saw you again. Every day for a month. He would sit in his seat, maintaining his distance, not wanting to push you. He showed up every day at three and got nervous when you weren’t there. Once, after about three weeks of this, he this slip. You blushed at his concern. However, knowing that you weren’t going to be there today, you left a note for the barista.

He arrived at the cafe, immediately searching for you, ready to share his new ideas with you for the show. When he saw the empty cafe, he panicked.

“Chill, dude. She left you a note,” the barista said, pointing to your usual table. Sure enough, there was a white piece of paper labeled: Lin

He rushing to read it, he nearly tripped over the chair in front of him. The barista rolled her eyes at him.

Reaching the paper, his eyes scanned the words quickly.

Lin -

I have an interview today. I’ll see you tomorrow. Finish Helpless - I can’t get it out of my head and I won’t be satisfied until I hear the ending.

Always,

Y/N

ps: barista is grumpy today. play nice.

Lin smiled at the letter. He read it over and over, and practically had it memorized by the time he ordered his coffee. He was trying, really. He was trying really hard not to fall for you. But every time he saw you, he couldn’t tell if his heart stopped or if it just started beating really, really fast.

eight months before

Coffee has progressed. He had convinced you to go to a sandwich place downtown, and then a bookstore, and then his apartment. Nothing was labeled, and that seemed to make it both easier and harder.

Easier in the sense that you knew if you said something wrong, he wouldn’t flip. Harder in the sense that all you wanted was to feel his smirk against your lips.

Lin was banging working on a new song for the show as you read. Eventually, he got frustrated and slammed his hands on the keys, causing you to jump. He mumbled an apology, embarrassed.

You offered a small smile, getting up and walking towards him. You placed your hands on his shoulders and his instinctively reached for them. You felt your heart flutter.

“Play it for me,” you tried.

He huffed, “It sucks.”

You shrugged, “Play it anyways.” And so he did. You made him slide over so you could side beside him on the piano bench. He felt your head fall on his shoulder. Lin didn’t even realize when his hand left the keys and grasped your own.

You didn’t leave until midnight, and he had almost convinced you to stay over. But you declined, you had an interview tomorrow. Before you left, he kissed your cheek.

When you woke up the following morning, you still hadn’t stopped blushing.

seven months before

He felt different. Maybe it was the way your dress held to you, maybe it was the fact it was Valentines day. Maybe it was the fact that you hadn’t defined the relationship. Maybe it was the bottle of red wine you two split. Maybe it was you. But Lin was far too warm.

It was probably the alcohol.

It was most definitely you.

The day before, he had offered to take you out for dinner “as friends.” You obliged, happy to spend time with him. The two of you had become practically inseparable, almost everyone noticing.

Your roommate, Kate, had even forced you into some red dress that nearly two sizes too small. Still, the look Lin gave you when you walked towards him that night made the fact that you couldn’t breathe manageable.

“You look stunning,” he gushed.

That night, he kissed you.

You were standing on the doorstep to your apartment, positive Kate was waiting up for you. He hadn’t made a move, and you almost left. But then his eyes were on you, and then his hands were, and then his lips were.

Feverishly, you clutched onto his jacket, pulling him flush against you. You could feel his smile against your lips. You were flying.

As he walked home, - well, more like skipped home - he texted his buddy Anthony.

to: anthony

Is ten minutes too soon to call?

from: anthony

How much do you like her?

to: anthony

Way more than I probably should.

from: anthony

Then you should’ve called her five minutes ago.

six months before

Some called it sexual tension, some called it chemistry. You called it teasing, he called it a curse.

So, after making out with him nearly every night - because God, that boy was a fantastic kisser - you started to feel a little guilty; maybe he wanted more.

You remembered stressing about it the night before. You absolutely wanted to sleep with him. Just the thought of his hands on you had you dropped into a puddle.

Still, you weren’t sure if he’d like you after. What if all he wants is sex? What if I’m not that good? He’s going to leave me.

Stop it, you thought. Lin wasn’t like that…right?

Right.

When you rang his doorbell the following day, he was wearing a teeshirt and sweats. Still, seeing you all dressed up in the maroon dress Kate had picked out the night before, he panicked.

“Did I forget we had a date? You look beautiful - I can go change. God, you look beautiful -” he was rambling.

You laughed lightly and shook your head. Walking into his apartment, you swallowed your pride.

“We need to have sex.”

He gaped, stumbling over his words, “Uh -”

You held a hand up, “We need to have sex.”

He took a step towards you. Bashfully, he muttered something to his feet. Immediately, you turned, “What?”

“I’m not ready,” he said again, this time stronger.

You blanched, repeating yourself, “What?”

“I really, really like you. And I want to have sex with you, God - I want to have sex with you, but I don’t want to ruin it if we do. I want it to be special with you, because - because, you’re special.”

You paused before taking his hand, “I thought I was making you wait. I didn’t want you to leave me because we weren’t having sex.”

Lin’s smile calmed your nerves, “I’m not going anywhere.”

Being with him was like standing too close to the sun. Your whole body was constantly burning, but there was never a dull moment. Everything was always moving with him. He was kinetic energy.

But your favorite moments were the ones at piece. Where the furniture, people, lives around you were in constant motion, but you were there. With him. Calm.

He was the eye of the hurricane; everything was quiet, for just a moment.

Times like these were rare: when his hips rolled over yours; when he would ask to try on your glasses to make fun of how blind you were; when he would buy your favorite ice cream, knowing you wouldn’t pick it up yourself; when you had to wear a scarf to cover up last night’s kisses; when he held you.

They were small, but they made your chest feel light and your toes tingle. So when he came home that night, pizza in one hand, a bottle of champagne in the other, you couldn’t shake the thought of loving him. You couldn’t shake the thought that this man was changing your life and you were doing exactly what you told yourself not to do: falling in love with him.

Still, just a week he said it first. He didn’t mean to. He was hanging up the phone with you when it happened.

“I’ve got to stay late today,” he said. He was at a workshop for Hamilton, the play finally coming together.

“Okay,” you said, working around the kitchen. You had planned to cook, but now that he wouldn’t be home for a while, you grabbed a box of CheeseItz and sat on the couch.

Lin signed something Karen had brought over, holding the phone between his shoulder and his ear.

“I miss you.”

You heard him chuckle lightly, “I miss you more.”

“Get back to work,” you teased.

“Okay, okay. I’ll see you when I get home.”

“Yep.”

“Love you.”

“Bye.”

You had both hung up before you realized what happened. Calling back so quickly, he had barely hung up the phone.

“Babe?” he asked, concerned.

“I love you too.”

You two had a big fight. It was bad. Your words were sharp as angry tears streamed down your face.

It was the first time in weeks that you had slept at your own apartment, slamming his door on the way out.

Kate held you as you cried, forcing you to turn off your phone as the endless dings only made you cry harder.

You didn’t sleep that night, so when you walked into the coffee shop, desperately in need of caffeine, you nearly broke down again at the sight of him.

Clearly, he hadn’t slept either. His hair was sticking up and his eyes were tired. The bags under them seemed to grow each day after work, but today seemed especially bad.

He sat at the table, nursing a cup of coffee. Beside him was a bouquet of peonies next to him. You couldn’t mute the quick intake of air, snapping his eyes to yours. After a beat, he stood and took a step closer you.

Simultaneously, you blurted out, “I’m sorry.”

He held you that night. And it was all you needed.

three months before

Lin left the week before. He was doing an interview in California and wouldn’t be back until the following Friday.

You were bored, honestly. You were bored of a quiet house. But worse than being bored? You missed him.

God, you missed him like hell. You missed the sound of his voice. You missed his endless piano playing. You missed his sweet notes you found of the counter when you woke up after him. You missed Sunday morning breakfasts where he would make blueberry pancakes and kiss you, tasting like maple syrup. You missed his warmth at night. You missed him.

So when your phone vibrated around 4:30 in the morning the following day, you checked it immediately.

from: Lin
I love you

You laughed lightly before your phone went off again.

from: Lin
I didn’t say that enough today

“What if they don’t like me?” you asked anxiously, refusing to get out of the car.

“Y/N, you have nothing to worry about. They are going to adore you.”

You bounced your leg. He wanted you to meet his parents. Tugging slightly at your dress, you huffed before taking his hand. He shut the door behind you, pushing you against it.

“They,” he started, kissing your nose.

“Are,” Your forehead.

“Going.” Cheek.

“To.” Jaw.

“Love…” Neck - you stopped him, pushing lightly. You knew if he kept going, he was going to get whatever he wanted. So, with the dignity you had left, you stalked in front of him and made sure to sway your hips a little more than usual. He whistled before running to catch up with you.

(For the record, they did love you.)

one month before

He told you this might happen. He did. He told you that the play was gaining popularity and that if it were anything like In The Heights, it might be crazy. You didn’t expect him to be gone so much though.

But as nights got later, and weekends away got longer, you started to worry if he had forgotten about you.

Your fears rang true when he forgot to call home and tell you he was flying to Vegas for an interview.

Lin called the following day when he remembered that he said he would call… yesterday. He was even more scared when you didn’t yell at him. When your voice was calm. It was so calm, that he almost missed it.

“I can’t do this anymore.”

now

“Y/N,” he breathed.

You didn’t know what to do, so you just stood there. After a moment more of the only sound being the rain pounding on the roof, you sighed.

You shook your head, “No.”

“Wait -” he tried, but you stopped him.

This time, sharper, “No. You - you don’t get to do that. You can’t just disappear from my life and leave me and then a month later come back and pretend like everything is okay and that I’m just going to forget how bad you hurt me -”

“Y/N, let me explain -”

“No! You don’t get to. You don’t get to stand here, all… all wet and sad and expect me to just accept it!” He was getting closer.

“Y/N -”

“No!” You tried to shut the door, angry tears running down your face. He stopped you, dripping on your door mat.

“Y/N, you don’t know how hard I’ve tried to walk away. You don’t know how hard I’ve tried to forget your smile and your laugh and your touch but, but God, I can’t! Okay? I can’t.” You had stopped pushing him by now.

“Every day, I go to work and I sing these songs and I do these interviews and all I can think about is you. All I can think about is how awful I was at the end and how much I need you in my life, okay?” You were barely breathing.

“Every day, I sit and wonder: how the hell did I let you slip away? How the hell did I let the best thing that has ever happened to me slip away?” He had started to pace.

“Every day, you were perfect. Every day, you loved me no matter the mistakes I made. And every day, I left. And every damn day, you stayed. And God, I should’ve stayed. God, I should’ve stayed.” He stopped, turning to face you. You took a step forward.

“God, I should’ve stayed,” he managed before you cut him off, pushing your lips onto his. You weren’t sure if the water on his face was from the rain or his tear, but you clutched him like he was going to disappear into thin air at a moments notice.

“You’re here now,” you finally said. Your lungs burned. Your eyes burned. Your heart burned. Everything burned. But he was there. And he held you. And he stayed.

anonymous asked:

How do you think Zuko's and Katara's parenting styles would mix? I feel they'll have worldly kids but I wonder if they'll shield them more than they should. Zuko's childhood might make him less tolerant to the negative portions of growing up, making him downplay war, gray morality and court issues. Love the pairing but I think their kids may have skewed views of reality

Despite their young ages, we can get a good idea of Zuko and Katara’s parenting styles from watching the show. Several times, they take on the role of parent or mentor to younger (or at least less mature) children:

Lee (parent: Zuko). From “Zuko Alone,” we can gather that Zuko is more than willing to stand up for a kid not his own:

Gow: Hey! You throwing eggs at us, stranger?
Zuko: No.
Gow: You see who did throw it?
Zuko: No.
Soldier: That’s your favorite word, no?
Gow: Egg had to come from somewhere.
Zuko: Maybe a chicken flew over.

Zuko: (in a threatening tone) Let the kid go.

He is firm, but fair in instructing Lee. Zuko could have yelled at him or sent him away for touching his precious dao, but instead he teaches Lee the meaning behind the swords.

Sokka (parent: Katara). As if this speech weren’t enough:

Sokka: When our mom died, that was the hardest time in my life. Our family was a mess, but Katara, she had so much strength. She stepped up and took on so much responsibility. She helped fill the void that was left by our mom.

There are a million ways Katara looks out for her brother’s wellbeing.

Sewing his clothes back together while he runs his mouth.

Cutting off his supply of hallucinogenic beverage.

Taking care of him when he’s sick.

Katara: I’m sorry you’re feeling so down, but I hope you know none of us see you that way.

Lending him moral support.

And encouraging him to go on unnecessary shopping sprees when all else fails.

As you can see, Katara nurtures, disciplines, and indulges Sokka depending on what his physical and emotional needs are at the moment. Like any human being, Katara gets overwhelmed sometimes, and snaps at her brother when she shouldn’t. But overall, Katara is a top-notch caretaker to Sokka as well as a sibling.

Toph (parent: Katara). Katara is a helicopter parent when it comes to Toph–not because Toph is blind, but because she knows how little real parents Toph got in her own home growing up. She tries to get Toph to understand the “power of teamwork”:

Katara: So, Toph, usually when setting up camp we try to divide up the work.
Toph:  Hey, don’t worry about me, I’m good to go.
Katara:  Well, actually, what I’m trying to say is, uh, some of us might fetch water while someone else might set up the fire pit or put up the tent. Even Momo does his fair share.

And points out that Toph’s acting out is a symptom of Toph missing her parents:

Katara: Ah, I see. You’re acting like this because of your parents.
Toph:  Whatever.
Katara: They were controlling over you, so you ran away, and now you act like your parents don’t exist. You act like you hate them, but you don’t. You just feel guilty.
Toph: I do hate them!
Katara: I don’t think so. I think you miss them. But you just don’t want to deal with that, so instead, you act like this crazy person.

Katara invades Toph’s privacy to dig up the wanted notice that puts them all in danger. But she admits her guilt and tries her best to patch things up:

Katara: I can’t believe I was so stupid. See, this is exactly why I’m against these scams. I knew this would happen.
Toph: But…this was your idea.
Katara: I know. I wanted to show you that I’m not so motherly. I wanted to show you that I can have fun too.
Toph: Katara, you are fun. If nothing else, you’re at least fun to argue with.
Katara: I know your relationship with your parents is complicated, and I shouldn’t have said what I said.
Toph: It’s ok. I was really mad when you said that because; well, because maybe it’s true. I try not to think about it, but when I left, I probably really hurt them.

We can see in the dialogue above how hard it is for Katara to be a kid and Team Mom at the same time. Her no-nonsense parenting butts heads with her desire not to be seen by her fellow kids as the unfunny, boring one. But she keeps trying her best, and in the end it works out. Katara is nosy, but also willing to change her own behavior when her parenting has a negative effect.

Aang (parents: Zuko and Katara). I don’t think there is any need to go into how much Aang is mothered by Katara throughout the series; in fact, I’ve done a whole post on it already. Despite not doting on Aang every single moment of his existence, Zuko’s parenting technique is actually much healthier than Katara’s. It’s also a good counter to the idea that Zuko would be so afraid of disciplining his children that he would let them walk all over him. Watch him train with his new student:

Zuko: I know you’re nervous, but remember… firebending in and of itself is not something to fear.
Aang: Ok. Not something to fear.
Zuko:  But if you don’t respect it, it’ll chew you up and spit you out like an angry komodo rhino!

(Cut to Aang who gives a yelp of fear)

Zuko: Now show me what you’ve got. Any amount of fire you can make.

And when he and Aang are meeting the Masters:

Zuko: Your flame’s gonna go out because it’s too small. You’re too timid. Give it more juice.
Aang: But what if I can’t control it?
Zuko: You can do it. I know you can. You’re a talented kid.

Zuko is, again, firm but fair, and encourages Aang when he shows improvement. While he would be understandably wary of punishing children, he is under no illusions about how hard and dangerous the world can be, even for someone as young as Aang. He understands that leaving Aang unprepared by pampering him would expose Aang to greater danger in the long run.

But Katara … oh, Katara definitely has problems with discipline where Aang is concerned. She doesn’t know how to stop giving Aang time and attention, and she doesn’t know how to do tough love, at least not towards the Avatar. I would argue that Katara is too wrapped up in seeing Aang as a symbol of hope who can do no wrong in her eyes to give Aang an honest assessment of who he is. She does provide a lot of hand-holding and emotional support that Zuko would be uncomfortable with, so if she were and Zuko were parenting Aang together, he might turn out OK. Still, there is no evidence that Katara would spoil a non-Avatar child, so I’m inclined to count Aang as an outlier due to his status as the Avatar.

Together, Katara and Zuko’s parenting styles combine support, discipline, encouragement, attention, comfort, protection, education, and love. They support the interests of the kids under their care and do their best to protect them from harm. But they also help the kids protect themselves–both by encouraging their fighting skills, and by creating as safe of an environment as they can within the group, while fighting a very unsafe war.

In Defense of Maggie Sawyer

@danvers-dimples said: I need your help. My sister is NOT a Maggie fan. She especially doesn’t like the “you get one” line, she found it too harsh. She finds Maggie herself too unfeeling. I completely disagree to be clear. Anyway could you write some good points for me to show my sister on why she’s wrong and Maggie is in fact a pure being, gifted to us from the Gods. Please.

Hey kids, it’s your friendly neighborhood Maggie Sawyer stan finally here to type up a way too detailed analytical post regarding two of the biggest misplaced criticisms of Maggie. I hope you don’t mind me bouncing off of your ask for this, but it presented me with the opportunity to do one of my absolute favorite things: defend unjustifiably hated female characters that I adore in a manner much too extra for fandom purposes. I’ll be taking a look at the most revealing aspects of Maggie’s character as they’ve been presented thus far, getting a little meta about her role within the show overall, and doing my best to explain away some of the popular misunderstandings of Maggie as a character, with particular emphasis on the differences between “Unfeeling” vs “Emotionally Reserved”, and “Harsh” vs “Honest”. Obvious disclaimer: this is quite long.

“Unfeeling” vs “Emotionally Reserved”:

From what I’ve seen, one of the biggest and most frustrating misinterpretations of Maggie’s character is the twisting of her emotional reservation into coldness. This one surprises me every time I encounter it, if I’m honest, if only because “unfeeling” is one of the absolute last words I’d use to ever describe Maggie for a multitude of reasons.

Title: Open It

Characters: Negan x You/Reader

Synopsis: You get shit-faced drunk on Negan’s birthday.

Warnings: NSFW, smut!

Note: Here’s my smut for @negansmutweek JDM birthday celebration! Not entire happy with it (but then again, when was I ever satisfied with my fics lmao) but I hope y’all enjoy this! xoxo

You opened your eyes and was met by a surreal blur, match that with an extreme headache with a side of sore throat. Scrunching your face, you let out a groan as you turned to your side to find a more comfortable position on the bed. And then it hit you— you weren’t in your room. You sat up almost too quickly, forgetting about the horrible hangover you woke up to.

“Fuck!” you hissed as you held your head in both your hands.

When you relaxed a tiny bit, you took it as a chance to look around the place. You were sitting on a king-sized bed with clean white sheets. There was a couch across from you, a drawer and cabinet leaning against the wall and a couple more pieces of furniture that somehow gave you an idea whose room you were in. Your heart pounded heavily against your ribcage and your headache grew a hundred times worse when you remembered getting really shit-faced drunk on your boss’ birthday. You looked down and let out a small gasp when you noticed that you were bra-less and was only clad in a loose, grey shirt and just your undies.

Note: Write-a-thon Day 3! This is loosely based on 11/22/63 by Stephen King, wherein the main character goes back in time to prevent JFK’s assassination. So you see where this is going. This is part 1 out of 2.
