I Got You On My Mind [Part 4]

Jungkook Soulmate AU (Angst)

[Part One] | Previous Part | Part Four | Next Part

Summary: After your memory loss, adjusting back to normal life has been difficult. Luckily, Jungkook is always there for you. Still, something seems off about him, and you just can’t understand why.

“Oh yeah, I’m being discharged tomorrow,” you told Jungkook, who was pushing your wheelchair through the hospital. He insisted that you needed a change of scenery. “My parents are going to pick me up and drive me back to my apartment.”

“I-I guess it’s too early for the ‘meet the parents’ thing, right?” Jungkook stammered, uncharacteristically nervous. “Unless you want me to. Like, I don’t mind if–”

“Chill, Jungkook,” you laughed, cutting his off his rambling. “I think they’re more worried about my brain damage than any soulmate business.”

“The doctors said you’ll recover your memories though, right?” Jungkook asked, worry lining his words. “Your memory loss won’t be permanent or recurring?”

“They said my memories will come back slowly,” you replied, shrugging your shoulders nonchalantly. “But most of the time, the memories will have to be triggered by something. They also told me I might have short-term memory issues for the next little while.”

“That seriously sucks,” Jungkook said. “If you need any help with anything, just let me know. I don’t really know how I’d be useful, but don’t hesitate.”

“We’re not in the same department,” you snorted, turning to peer up at your soulmate who was both familiar and foreign in this instant. “This is gonna make school so difficult. I’ve forgotten nearly three months worth of content!”

“Maybe take the semester off?” Jungkook suggested. “Amnesia is a pretty valid reason. Have you talked at all to the university?”

“No,” you groaned, sinking into the wheelchair. “I don’t want to think about responsibilities right now. Just marvelling in the fact I’m still alive and kicking.”

A silence fell between you and Jungkook as he pushed you through a more crowded area of the hospital. You noticed a few younger visitors visibly gape at Jungkook, then glare at you jealously as you rolled by.

You agreed with them–how was Jungkook so damn good-looking? You hit the soulmate jackpot, for sure. Still, even if he looked different, you didn’t doubt that you would like him just the same.

“You know, it’s pretty crazy,” you blurted out unthinkingly. “I’ve been talking to you my entire life, and I always thought meeting you would feel like meeting an old friend. But honestly, you’re a total mystery to me right now. Maybe it’s because of the memory loss, or maybe other people feel this way, too.”

“No, I know what you mean,” Jungkook responded quietly, trying to figure out how to express his thoughts properly. “It’s just…we have an idea of who our soulmate is in our heads. When they’re not exactly that person, it’s kind of confusing.”

“And I’m sure there’s a lot of stuff we still don’t know about each other,” you agreed. “Honestly, I tried to make myself seem a lot better than I am.”

“Yeah, me too,” Jungkook laughed, though it sounded a bit off. You brushed it off as embarrassment. “Didn’t want to disappoint you.”

You turned your head and looked up into Jungkook’s eyes. “You couldn’t have disappointed me Jungkook, really. I’m just happy to finally meet you,” you replied, giving him a small smile. “And it’s kinda paradoxical, isn’t it? Disliking your own soulmate. Weren’t we, like, made to like each other?”

“I guess,” Jungkook said, staring ahead unwaveringly. He pushed you down another hallway, which led to the cafeteria. You only knew because of the wafting smell of hearty food was growing stronger by the second. “But nothing’s ever that simple.”

“Don’t I know it,” you sighed, laughing a little in spite of yourself. You turned the corner into the bustling cafeteria, the noise of the crowds deafening compared to the near-silent, depressing halls of the hospital.

“Want to grab something to eat?” Jungkook asked, the heaviness of your conversation vanishing before you could even blink. “I was going to grab something for myself, too.”

“Sure, I’ll have whatever you’re having,” you agreed. Out of habit, you reached down to pat your pockets for your wallet. “Oh shit, I don’t have any money on me. Don’t worry about it, then.”

“It’s cool, it’ll be my treat,” Jungkook said. When you turned to look at him, he was giving you a lopsided smile.

“Then, is this our first date?” you asked cheekily, delighting in the way Jungkook’s cheek burned. You never expected that a guy like Jungkook, with this terrible fuckboy persona, would be so easily flustered.

“If you want it to be, sure,” Jungkook answered, coughing into his hand awkwardly. You just laughed, and Jungkook pushed you forward wordlessly.

Life at home after getting discharged made staying in the hospital seem like an amusement park. After being sentenced to bedrest by your parents–and having Jieun enforce it with an iron fist–you spent your days bored out of your mind.

In only one week, you had binge-watched three shows, reread all of your course notes (and they didn’t help you remember anything), and read more manga that you had ever read before in your entire life.

You were positively itching to get outside and do something, but what bothered you the most was that you hadn’t talked to Jungkook since your “first date.” When you had gotten home, you jumped to charge your dead phone, which miraculously hadn’t been destroyed in the accident. But when the device finally charged, you soon realized that you had no way of contacting Jungkook.

For some reason, his phone number wasn’t saved in your contacts. Even though Jungkook had said you had met before, apparently you hadn’t exchanged numbers. That seemed very strange to you.

When you asked Jieun about it, she just shrugged the question off. She said your situation was a bit complicated, but that she’d have to leave it up to you and Jungkook. But Jieun did say that she would mention it to him when she saw him at school next.

Sighing, you reached for your phone beside you. It was still early in the morning. Time had lost all meaning to you, since you spent every moment of the day trapped in your apartment. A bit bitterly, you watched your friends’ Snapchat stories and longed to return to normal daily life.

Suddenly, your phone began buzzing. You dropped it in surprise, and it landed on your nose. The impact stung, and you cursed, reaching clumsily for the phone. You saw an unflattering picture of Jieun illuminate the screen. Eventually, you were able to answer.

“Hey, what’s up?” you asked, rubbing your hand against your sore nose.

“Y/N, I’m so fucking stupid!” Jieun practically screamed. Wincing, you held your phone away from your ear. “I know you shouldn’t be moving around, but I need you to come to the university right now. I’m working on a group project that’s due in two hours and a bunch of our files got corrupted. I have some stuff backed up on my laptop, which I left at home like an idiot!”

“Don’t worry, I can bring it to you,” you reassured quickly. “I won’t fall into traffic on the way there. It’s like a ten minute walk, so don’t worry.”

“Just don’t strain yourself, okay?” Jieun ordered, the panic still evident in her voice. “Don’t go to quickly and look both ways!”

“Hey, only I can make fun of myself,” you quipped, pulling yourself out from underneath the covers. “I’ll be over soon, I just need to get dressed.”

“Okay, see you soon. Thank you so much, Y/N,” Jieun said, and the both of you said your goodbyes before you disconnected the call.

You glanced down at your pyjama bottoms and at the thick cast over your right leg. Changing pants would be a battle for another day. Unsteadily, you stood up and balanced your weight on your unbroken leg. You reached for the crutches leaning against the wall beside you and tucked them underneath your arms.

As quickly as you could (which was not very quick), you had thrown on a clean shirt and a jacket. Your hair was a mess, so you shoved on a beanie to disguise the tangled frizz. With Jieun’s securely laptop in your backpack, you began the trek to school. Suddenly, the journey seemed incredibly long.

When you finally arrived on campus, you were panting lightly and sweating. You made your way into the music building, relatively unfamiliar with its layout. You detached yourself from one of your crutches and reached into your pocket for your phone. Quickly you sent Jieun a text letting you know you were here.

There were a few benches in the foyer, so once you hobbled over to them, you set your bag down lightly and placed your crutches against the benches. Flopping down, you discreetly tried to massage your sore armpits.

But you were glad to finally be out of the apartment. The fresh air made you feel infinitely better.

“Y/N?” a familiar voice called. Your head whipped around in the direction of the voice. Jungkook a few meters away from you, looking as dark and intimidating as ever. His wide-eyed expression kind of ruined the image though. “What are you doing here?”

“Jieun forgot her laptop at home,” you replied, pointing to the backpack at your feet, as Jungkook made his way toward you.

“Shouldn’t you be at home?” he questioned, stopping when he was standing in front of you. You craned your neck to at him properly. “Is it okay for you to be walking around so soon?”

“Please, don’t get started on that,” you groaned, squeezing your eyes shut. “My parents and Jieun are unbearable. I’ve been lying in bed doing nothing all week.”

“You know, that honestly sounds like heaven,” Jungkook joked. “I’m so swamped right now. I haven’t slept in days.”

You inspected Jungkook more closely. His eyes were ringed by purplish dark circles, but they were hardly noticeable. How unfair–he always looked good.

“Hey, why haven’t you talked to me all week?” you asked suddenly, narrowing your eyes at Jungkook suspiciously.

“I was meaning to call or text or something, but I don’t have your number,” Jungkook answered sheepishly, scratching the nape of his neck awkwardly. “Didn’t know how to ask for it, since you haven’t been around campus lately.”

“Why’s that, though?” you continued, glancing down at your feet. “I mean–you said we met before. Why didn’t we keep in contact?”

“W-well, we did meet, but it wasn’t a proper conversation,” Jungkook explained stutteringly. “It wasn’t under the most normal circumstances, but–”

“Y/N!” Jieun’s loud voice suddenly interrupted. She burst into the foyer, looking absolutely frazzled. Her hair was a mess, her eyes were bloodshot, and you were pretty sure there were coffee stains on her shirt. “Thank god!”

Your friend ran over to you and practically dove for your backpack. She grabbed her laptop and hugged it tightly against her chest.

“Thank you so much. I’m so sorry I made you come all the way here,” Jieun cried, sounding frantic still. “Are you okay? Sore anywhere? Go home right away, okay? You need to rest. And please don’t tell your parents!”

“Oh my god, I’m fine Jieun,” you whined. “I think I can handle walking for, like, two minutes.”

“I just don’t want anything to happen!” Jieun insisted, stomping her foot childishly. “We’re speeding up the recovery process by being extra careful!”

You rolled your eyes. “Whatever. Go work on your project and try not to fail.”

“I will,” Jieun replied. “I’ll bring dinner on my way home.” She turned, only spotting Jungkook for the first time. Her eyes narrowed and she frowned slightly. “Jungkook.”

“Jieun,” he replied, just as shortly.

You looked between the two of them, wondering why there was so much tension. It looked like they were having a silent conversation, and you hated not knowing what was going on. You had the suspicion they were hiding something from you–but for the life of you, you couldn’t figure out what, exactly.

Eventually, Jieun just nodded and strode away, leaving Jungkook with a tight expression. Visibly, you could see Jungkook try to shake away the tension, his jaw unclenching. When he turned back to you, his features were schooled.

“Give me your phone,” Jungkook said, reaching out his hand and smiling softly. “I’ll add my number.”

- Girl in Luv

Okay, so this one was a bit filler-y. Originally I had planned to make this one angsty too, but I figured you guys could use the respite. Also, it would have been like 4k words and it’s like 2:30AM and this girl needs to sleep. Anyway, stay tuned!! Thanks as always for reading, and I hope you all enjoyed. Your replies and reblogs/tags are so cute I read them all 💛💛💛💛

“It’s February 14th, Neil!”

Nicky was exasperated. It was obvious by the way he looked out of breath even though he was just standing there being rather noisey.

Neil scrunched up his nose. As much as he loved Nicky, he wouldn’t mind hearing him less right now.

“What’s your point, Nicky?”

The thing with Nicky, however, was that when you requested a straight answer, you instead got a show.

Act one of this show was apparently looking around at the rest of the foxes and proclaiming, “Can you believe this kid?!”

Andrew was coming from his appointment with Bee so wasn’t at the locker rooms yet for practice. Neil found himself silently hoping he would get there faster to shut Nicky up.

Usually everybody would just let Nicky go on his rant, half ignoring him and half egging him on. But when Neil looked past him, he realized that all the Foxes were actually paying attention. Their eyes were focused on Neil with a combination of pity, confusion, and general annoyance.

Nicky was making a huge fuss now, not actually getting to the point but rather going around it. “Of all the days to not know-”

But Matt cut him off. Which was odd, because Matt usually didn’t cut Nicky off.

“Neil….do you really not know what today is?”

//so I was thinking this morning (always a dangerous sign) that I’ve talked a bit recently about how the Tumblr RP community isn’t always very good at encouraging people to find ways to manage or get to their drafts, and is instead more likely to coddle peoples’ anxieties without actually helping them at all.

So this is a post of a few tips and tricks that might help RPers manage some of the more common anxieties I see crop up in our circle. Now, I’m not a full psychologist and nor am I licensed counselor. But I do have my master’s degree in clinical psychology with the intention to go on for the PhD (or get licensed to practice if I don’t get into a program) so I do kinda know what I’m talking about. Hopefully some of this advice is a little helpful:

1. “My drafts just stress me out.” This is a pretty common complaint, but I think in most circumstances it’s caused by stress going on outside of the RP world. Take a step back and breathe. Handle whatever is going on in your real life. That always comes first. If you come back and your drafts are still causing you to feel panicky, the next step is to find out the more specific reasons why. That’s going to help you best address the anxiety. Read on for some common reasons.

2. “I’ve gotten so behind, there’s so many and I’m overwhelmed.” This happens all the time! You take a hiatus for a week or two, or life just got really busy for a while, or just lost muse and now it’s back. But in the meantime, your drafts have piled up- suddenly you’re looking at 20, 50, 100- how do you even start?

The best way I’ve found to handle this is to break them up into smaller chunks. It might be helpful to copy and paste your partners’ replies over into one or more word documents. You can then further organize those word documents even more. One for short replies, one for long, one for medium length. Or you can organize by muses, by how long the draft has been in your folder- whichever way you want to handle this. If you want to put one reply per document, you can organize them into folders instead. How you do this is entirely up to you.

Set a small goal for yourself- even one draft a day is better than no drafts at all. But by breaking the work up into chunks, you’ve taken a lot of the pressure off yourself. A goal of 1-5 drafts a day is a lot better than looking at all 50.

Another tip- use the queue! Or simply keep completed drafts saved in the drafts folder until you’ve caught up enough to start posting. The queue will stagger your posts so replies aren’t coming out all at once, and your partners aren’t able to immediately reply back. And obviously keeping them in drafts even after they’re done lets you have more time to catch up. These are just a couple of tips, however, and there are probably other good ways to manage drafts. Find what works best for you!

And don’t be afraid to drop a couple if you have no muse for those threads anymore. Just let your partner know, they’ll understand. And if they don’t, they’re just an asshole and who needs that, right? It is better to communicate that you’re dropping them, however, so you’re partner isn’t left hanging.

3. “I haven’t replied in weeks, I’m worried my partner hates me.” I guarantee this is not true. Most people in the rp community are very understanding of slow response time. Your partners want to rp with you- they’ll be thrilled to see a response, even if it’s been several weeks. Responding, even slowly, shows a lot more dedication and excitement over your threads.

So if it’s been several weeks, and you finally have muse for that thread and want to reply to it, but feel guilty or anxious because it’s been so long- reply anyway. Your partner will be so happy to see your response.

Another way to alleviate this anxiety is to simply talk to your partner. And I know, this can be scary- but sometimes you have to bite the bullet and do the thing that makes you anxious. Take it slow if you need to, but communication is the best way to feel better about it. And I guarantee, you are going to feel so much more proud of yourself if you did the thing that made you anxious than if you didn’t.

That goes for replying as well.

4. “I feel so inadequate compared to others. I should just stop.” This is an example of what mental health professionals call a “negative automatic thought”, or “NAT”. And like real gnats, these little thoughts get all up in your ears and start buzzing around. They can spiral out of control very quickly, until you feel absolutely terrible about yourself. These thoughts are very common in people with both anxiety and depression.

But the thing is, they can be changed. You can actually re-wire your brain with a little work so that it won’t think these thoughts quite as often. One of the most effective ways is to simply replace the negative thought with a positive one- even if you don’t believe it. So if your negative thought is “I’m horrible compared to other people,” a replacement thought could be “No, I’m just as good as anyone else,” or “my writing is unique to me and it has value.”

You will not believe yourself at first, and it will seem a little bit weird when you start. It’s also a little challenging- your negative thoughts are automatic, you’re so used to thinking them that you aren’t even fully aware of it it half the time. But when you do catch yourself spiraling off into those negative thoughts- try to stop them. This is something we teach in therapy and over time, it does help. And it does get easier.

5. “It has to be PERFECT.” Perfectionism is at the root of a lot of peoples’ anxieties. But I challenge you with this- why? Why does it have to be perfect? What will happen if it’s not perfect?

The answer to that, usually, is “my partners will hate me/lose interest/think I’m stupid or a bad writer.” Perfectionism is usually a fear of judgment, and it’s usually fueled by feelings of inadequacy or fears of failure. So to that, I refer you back to the previous advice about negative automatic thoughts.

Challenge your thinking about your perfectionism. A good replacement thought for this one is “even if it’s not perfect, my partner will still be happy that I responded. My writing is still valuable to them.” Another good one- “imperfection means there’s room to grow. Mistakes don’t mean I’m a failure or no good.”

In general, don’t let anxiety say “I can’t do this.” You can do it. Anxiety is not a permanent state. The body cannot sustain it very long- the elevated heart rate, heavy breathing, heightened arousal- it’s physically impossible for it to last. Eventually, your body will start to calm itself and even back out. This is something that is very hard to sit with, because your natural instinct is to run away from the thing that’s making you anxious. Your instinct is to close the drafts folder, to close the messenger, to log out of tumblr and ignore it all completely. But the truth is, that only makes your anxiety worse in the long run.

Now, if these tips don’t help, or you’re finding your anxiety is so bad that it’s affecting your daily life in almost everything- I encourage people to please see a psychologist, psychiatrist, or some other mental health professional. Anxiety that’s chronically preventing you from doing the things you enjoy is anxiety that probably needs treatment. Having the extra support of a therapist or medication often makes it possible to implement some of these strategies, or find better ones that work for you. Especially if you’re having a hard time managing things on your own.

Anybody that wants to add to this with other ideas that have been helpful to you, please feel free to do so.

“Admit it, Bruce” - Batman x Reader (NSFW)

Thank you VERY MUCH @craftersdust :). I’m a bit self-conscious about my writing, because I’m French, and I know sometimes I don’t phrase things right, so thanks.

And here’s for your request, of course, very NSFW :

-Oh hello, I’m Bruce Wayne, I never have fun because I’m the dark knight, and someone dark cannot smile, like ever, and…

-Are you done ?

-Honey, I’m just warming up.

For the past ten minutes, you had annoyed your husband by (very badly) imitating his voice and just stating all of his flaws (mind you, you thought he didn’t actually have many). You accentuated your annoying behavior by tapping regularly with your fingers on the counter of his bat computer, while he was trying to concentrate.  It wasn’t just because you wanted to annoy him that you did it though, he totally deserved everything. He was refusing to accept that he was wrong, and you were right, and it bothered you because that happened way too many times. He hated being wrong. You knew it, this time his stubbornness just annoyed the Hell out of you.

-But I can stop if you…admit you were super jealous.

-I wasn’t jealous Y/N. At all. Why would I be jealous of a guys like that ?

-Mmmm…Because I used to be in love with him and that he’s very attractive and successful ? Funny and smart ?

He refused to look at you, but you saw quite distinctly his jaw clenching. You smiled, oh this was gonna be fun.

The definitely not definitive sports anime guide

So I did a thing a while back (a year ago, in fact) where I tried to make a primer for sports animes. I have since watched Many, Many More so let’s do this again (still no Daiya no Ace tho).
Based purely on my own meandering experience, here’s a hopefully comprehensive guide on picking your next set of adoptive sons.

Note: There’s ten shows so this is going to be long, you guys. Just… so long. And there will be many exclamation points.

You loved the pale blue light and how the morning sun made every surface glitter with the day’s new ice crystals. You could practically feel the static electricity in the air, dancing across your skin snapping little sparks when you rubbed your hands over your arms for warmth. Past time to light a fire.

A quick glance at your phone told you they weren’t here. Not yet. You tried not to be annoyed, knowing that if he called you he must really need help and safety. Naturally a night owl, the 4:30am call was a harsh awakening but when you saw “Steve” on the caller ID everything shifted. It always did for him. He carried a sense of urgency everywhere he went and your history made it impossible to ignore.

English Is Hard, Okay?! Langst Prompt Fill

For the anon who wanted a story where Lance had a hard time speaking English and the paladins teasing him for it.

Lance walked into the kitchen one morning with dark circles under his eyes. He trudged over to get a bowl and began filling it with food goo.

“You look like shit, Lance” Keith teased, trying to egg Lance into one of their normal fights. The other paladins ignored the banter, used to the Red and Blue paladins fighting.

“Yeah, I know. I don’t feel like fighting today, Keith, sorry,” Lance said, trying to get his food goo and leave as quickly as possible.

Keith frowned. Lance wasn’t playing along.
Usually this kind of stuff cheered the Blue paladin right up!

“Wake up on the wrong side of the bed? I was just teasing, you just look a little tired,” Keith said, trying, again, to lighten the mood.

“No, you know what Keith? I didn’t wake up on the wrong side of the bed I woke up in the wrong fucking bed after a dream where I had to watch my family die!

And I can’t even know if they’re actually alive because I’m not even in the same fucking galaxy as them and I didn’t want to fight and I thought I made that clear when I literally told you I didn’t want to but obviously I was wrong.

Hopefully I made it clear this time so I can go eat in my room and nobody will bother me,” Lance said calmly. The lack of emotion in his voice was unnerving. He took his bowl, grabbed a spoon, and left the room.

The other paladins glanced at each other with wide eyes as they watched the usually energetic and fun paladin walk off to his room.

Keith ate the rest of his meal with his head down, and nobody dared to break the tense silence.

After breakfast everyone broke off to work on their own projects or do whatever they needed until group training.

A few hours later, everyone was waiting in the training room for Lance. He walked in about ten minutes late, dressed in workout clothes the castle provided. He stared silently at the ground as Allura began to lecture him on his tardiness.

Training began with a few warm up laps around the room.

Lance visibly pulled himself together and worked a smile onto his face.

He nudged Pidge as he passed her, and high fives Shiro as he passed him.

Lance always enjoyed this portion of training since he was undeniably the fastest paladin (without their lions anyway).

When they slowed to a stop after five laps, Allura directed everyone to different parts of the room to work on things each were bad at.

Lance was shown the middle of the room, to fight close range with the gladiator. Hunk gave Lance a sympathetic glance.

Lance fought the gladiator for almost two hours. The other paladins had been allowed a break when they managed to finish whatever task they were given, but Lance had been at a stalemate with the damn gladiator.

The blue paladin began to slow down due to exhaustion, and the gladiator got in one well placed hit before it shut down.

Lance plopped himself down on a bench with the rest of the paladins as Allura and Coran talked.

Shiro leaned forward to look at Lance, whose eyes were closed as he leaned against the wall.

“Hey, you did good, buddy,” Shiro said, knowing that Lance had worked harder than any of them had that day.

Lance opened his eyes at the praise. He was sure he was going to get scolded for losing, and a smile worked it’s way onto his face.

“Thanks, Shiro. You did really well too. Hunk, you were really awesome with that thing you were running on.”

Pidge barked out a short burst of laughter.

“What was Hunk running on, again, Lance?” Pidge asked, barely concealed laughter coloring her voice.

“Um the thing where the ground moves so you can run in place?” Lance explained, frowning.

“Oh my god, Lance doesn’t know what a treadmill is!” Pidge shouted, cackling.

Her laughter prompted everyone but Lance to laugh along with her. Everyone had needed a laugh after a tense morning and a hard workout.

The laughter died down and Hunk looked over to see that Lance had tears in his eyes and his muscles were tensed.

“Hey, Lance, buddy, you alright?” Hunk asked, drawing the team’s attention.

Lance shook his head.

“I know it’s stupid and you guys think I’m stupid but it’s really fucking hard sometimes. I never learned the damn word.

Just like I don’t know what half the stuff Hunk and Pidge are talking about because I learned science and engineering and math in Cuba. In SPANISH.

I have to translate everything I’m thinking into a different fucking language because I grew up with no English at all!

And when I got to the Garrison I had to deal with people’s bullshit on my accent and how I couldn’t speak English correctly and I thought you guys didn’t care about stuff like that but maybe I just hadn’t messed up yet!

I’m sorry I suck at English and I forgot what a fucking treadmill is, but I promise you, I didn’t forget because I’m stupid. I remembered what to say in Spanish.

I’m sorry if my explanation wasn’t good enough, but I’m pretty sure you guys wouldn’t have understood it if I told you Hunk was running on a cinta de correr!!!” Lance yelled, taking a few deep breaths as he finished ranting.

Lance stood there, fuming for a few moments, tears openly streaming down his face. Everyone stared in shock, unsure what to make of Lance’s outburst.

The blue paladin waited for someone to say something, and when no-one did he bolted from the room, eyes wide and terrified.

Hunk ran after him after a moment. He knew exactly where his best friend would be.

Thanks for this prompt! Hope you like it! I’m thinking of posting a part two?

“This is already the third time this week you’re going out with that Bryson,” Seth said as he sat on my bed.

“I’m fully aware of how many times I’m going out with him,” I chuckled back at him as I did my make-up. “He’s a really nice guy.”

“I never said he wasn’t, it’s just…” he paused and looked at me in the mirror, “never mind.”

“No tell me, what’s the matter?” I asked confused as I turned around to face him. Seth has always been honest with me so I always listened to what he got to say.

“Aren’t you moving a bit too fast? I mean, only four months have passed since Roman and you broke up.” He carefully spoke.

“I’m not moving ‘too fast’, I’m moving on with my life and I’m sure Roman too has moved on.”

“He’s still not over you,” he mumbled quietly, hoping I didn’t hear it. I decided to not have this discussion with him and try to focus on tonight. “So this Bryson dude, you really like him?”

“I do, he’s really sweet, he cares about me, makes me laugh,” I smiled as I wore my heels.

“Roman does too, remember that time the three of us were at the lake and he pushed me into the water just to make you laugh because you felt down? Or that time when sprained your ankle when you wore those ridiculous high heels and Roman carried you on his back the entire night? Also the time the two of you were all over each other, hugging and kissing each other, causing to ignore the shit out of me.” Seth reminded me.

“How can I forget?” I chuckled, thinking back. Roman and I were super close and we loved each other so much that when we broke up, everyone was in awe, even the two of us couldn’t get used to it at first. The reason we broke up was mainly because of me not being able to get used him being on the road so often. I tried my hardest to adjust and he saw how much I effort I was making, but eventually, he made the heartbreaking decision to end things. I didn’t agree, of course, but he said it was the best for us both. ‘’Look, how unfortunate it is, things just didn’t worked out between us.’’

‘’What if he wants you back? I’ll kick your ass if you’re staying with that Bryson kid.’’ Seth said frustrated.

‘’It’s not your decision to make, but thanks for letting me know what I can expect,’’ I sweetly smiled as I hugged him. ‘’Thanks for looking out for me, but I’m a big girl.’’

‘’Whatever you want y/n, I still think you and Roman should get back together,’’ He said. As he was about to speak, the doorbell rang. I jumped excitedly and grabbed my bag.

‘’You can let yourself out right? Love you Seth,’’ I kissed his check and ran downstairs.

‘’You’re making a mistake girl!’’ He shouted, causing me to roll my eyes, ‘’Love you too.’’ Seth has always been like a brother to me and even during the time me and Roman split up, he never failed to be there for me when I needed someone.

‘’You look stunning,’’ Bryson smiled as I opened the door.

‘’Thank you,’’ I smiled. ‘’You don’t look as terrible as expected.’’ I joked. He laughed and took my hand in his.

‘’Bryson?’’ I heard Seth’s voice behind me. Oh lord, save me.

‘’Yeah that’s me, who’re you?’’ Bryson asked confused.

‘’My name’s Seth, nice to meet you. I’m y/n’s best friend. Oh and also the best friend of her ex,’’ Seth slyly smiled. I turned around and gave him a death glare.

‘’Oh well, it’s nice to meet you. Y/n told loads about you.’’ They shook each other’s hands, Seth smiling fake.

‘’Good things I hope.’’

‘’The most wonderful things, we gotta go now. Bye Seth.’’ I hastily said as I grabbed Bryson’s hand and rushed to his car. ‘’I’m sorry about that,’’ I sighed as we sat down. ‘’He can be an idiot sometimes.’’

‘’It’s fine baby, don’t worry.’’ Bryson smiled and placed his hand on my thigh. ‘’You ready to go?’’

‘’Totally.’’ I smiled back. He started the car and we drove off.

——————–

‘’Ever been here before?’’ Bryson asked as we parked the car. ‘’It opened a few months ago I think. Their food is absolutely delicious.’’

‘’Well, you made me pretty curious,’’ I smiled. He bend down and gently kissed me.

‘’Let’s eat till we can’t walk anymore.’’ Bryson laughed, making me laugh too. We crossed the road and entered the restaurant. The smell of fresh cooked tomato sauce filled my nose. ‘’We ordered a table for two,’’ he said to the waiter. I looked around while Bryson and the waiter figured things out.

‘’I can’t stop saying how beautiful you look,’’ a familiar deep voice said from behind me. My heart sank in my shoes. I slowly turned around, praying that it wasn’t who my mind immediately thought of. But as usual, the universe hates me. It was Roman with another girl, also on a date. I didn’t realize I was still looking at him until his eyes fell on mine, widened with surprise and disbelieve. If it was because of  me being with someone else or just being in shock by seeing me, I don’t know. I could punch myself in the face for not turning back right away, instead, I kept looking at how good he looked; his hair in a pulled back in a bun, his beard was trimmed,  he wore a grey suit with a white shirt.  I was speechless by the way he looked, not that he looked any different than before.

‘’Y/n, you ready?’’ Bryson asked. I quickly turned my head and nodded with a smile. I had no idea how to feel about this whole situation. Seeing Roman after four rough months filled with all kinds of emotions, left me with more feelings than I actually should have at the very moment. ‘’Babe?’’ He spoke again. Roman coughed roughly, indicating how irritated he was by how Bryson called me.

‘’Yeah I’m sorry, I was just thinking of something.’’

‘’It’s okay sweetheart, let’s sit down, we’re at table six.’’ He wrapped his arm around my waist as we started to walk to our table. I would normally never even think of turning around, but since the relationship me and Roman had was so intense and strong, I couldn’t just keep walking without a quick glance over my shoulder. He was standing there with the blonde girl at his side, looking overwhelmed.

‘’It’s an amazing place,’’ I distractedly said as I sat down, praying that Roman wouldn’t sit anywhere near us. I took the menu and my eyes scrolled over all the delicious food, getting hungry by just looking at the names. While being occupied with reading the menu, I felt people sitting at the table next to us.

‘’Have you decided yet?’’

‘’Everything looks so nice, I can’t choose,’’ I laughed as I looked up. My eyes automatically wandered, finding Roman and his date sitting next to us. Lord why? My heart started to race, I felt myself getting hot; I was turning into a nervous wreck, scared that I might say something wrong or being too close with Bryson. I shouldn’t have these thoughts, especially when Roman was the one who ended things between us and moved on with his life as well.

‘’Are you okay?’’ Bryson asked.

‘’I’m fine,’’ I lied, biting my lip.

‘’Alright, I’ll take the steak with the salad.’’ He spoke as he put his menu down. ‘’What about you?’’

‘’I think I’m going for the spiced rice with vegetables.’’

‘’Sounds lovely,’’ he smiled and waved his hand at the waiter to tell her our orders. ‘’So, how have you been doing?’’

‘’I’ve been great. I took two weeks off though, I needed to help my friend with moving to his new place,’’ I said as I took a sip of my water.

‘’Is it Seth who’s moving?’’ Bryson asked. I could feel Roman’s eyes burning right through me, shifting in his seat lightly.

‘’Uhm yeah, it’s Seth who’s moving out,’’ I uncomfortably said. ‘’But how are you doing? How’s your job?’’ I quickly asked, trying to change the subject for both Roman and mine sake.

‘’Mine’s quite alright, just the usual. Had to explain why I was wearing a turtle neck to work the other day though,’’ He smirked, ‘’You left some marks on me which were quite visible that even your foundation couldn’t cover.’’ Bryson ran his hand through his hair as Roman almost chocked while drinking his water. ‘’I didn’t mind at all and if I could, I’d gladly show them, but when you work in an office, you gotta cover things like that up somehow.’’

‘’You’re right,’’ I smiled briefly, biting my tongue in the hope I would wake up from this nightmare. I carefully looked over to Roman, finding him frowning with his jaw clenched, obviously boiling with anger. His whole body tensed as Bryson intertwined our fingers and smiled. Roman couldn’t care less about the girl he was with, clearly not listening to her long dreaded stories she was enthusiastically sharing.

‘’I remember you having-,’’ he paused and got his phone out of his pocket, ‘’I gotta take this one, do you mind?’’ He asked. I shook my head, thanking god he couldn’t finish his sentence and smiled lightly. The waiter brought us the food right when Bryson answered the phone. I was happy because that meant I could focus on my dish instead of looking around awkwardly. It had been a long time since I’ve eaten this nice, praising the chef in my head while eating slowly. Suddenly, my phone vibrated. Thinking it must be Seth, I took my phone out of my purse. It was my turn to choke on my delicious food when I saw Roman’s name on my lock screen. He send me a text saying: ‘I wanna get underneath the table and make it hard for you to talk.’ I looked over to him and rolled my eyes. ‘’I’m sorry, it was my boss asking if I finished that project.’’

‘’It’s fine, don’t worry,’’ I said as I took another bite from my food.

‘’So back to our subject,’’ he smirked. Oh god no. I knew that if he would continue talking, Roman would defenitely say or do something to make him shut up and I’m not letting that happen.

‘’You know what, let’s talk about something else okay,’’ I suggested, sounding a little irritated. I looked at my phone again and Roman sent another text saying: ‘You look so ravishing baby, oh how I’ve missed seeing you like this.’ I ran my hand through my hair and decided to send him something back: ‘Stop it Roman.’ was all I typed before pressing send.

‘’You alright? It’s like you’re not really enjoying tonight.’’ Bryson concernedly spoke. ‘’If you wanna go, just tell me.’’

‘’No I’m fine,’’ I insisted, ‘’just have a lot on my mind, I’m sorry.’’

‘’Don’t be love, it’s all good,’’ he smiled. I could feel Roman looking at us from the corner of my eye, anger and frustration radiating off his body. This was going to be the most unpleasant dinner ever, I could tell.

——————–

‘’I wish they served bigger portions,’’ Bryson mocked as he wiped the corners of his mouth with the napkin. Throughout the dinner, Roman never stopped sending those text messages, he continued those looks and it drove me insane.  ‘’Anyways, I’m going to pay okay, be right back.’’ He smiled and walked to the cash register. I was getting myself ready to leave as I heard Roman’s date saying she had to use the restroom. Once she was gone, Roman shoved his chair so he was sitting next to me at the table.

‘’Who’s that,’’ he nodded Bryson’s way, clearly irritated. I rolled my eyes and sighed. ‘’What?’’

‘’Do you seriously expect me to tell you after not even try to contact me in those four months? Speaking of contact, why the hell did you sent me those texts?’’ I hissed.

‘’I think I have the right to know,’’ He spoke dangerously low. ‘’If I wouldn’t say anything, I’d be fooling myself.’’  He kept his eyes on mine. I was quiet for a moment until he broke the silence, ‘’Come with me to my place, let me explain everything.’’

‘’You honestly think I’m agreeing on that? Look, like I said, I haven’t seen or spoken to you in four months Roman. I can’t just ignore everything that happened.’’

‘’I’m not asking you to ignore anything,’’ he looked at Bryson who was still busy paying. I think it’s better to have this conversation at my place unless you want to be disturbed by that jerk.’’ He said annoyed. I sighed and threw my head back. ‘’Please y/n, I promise you, you won’t regret it.’’

‘’What am I supposed to say to him?’’

‘’We can also just leave,’’ his low voice spoke, making me shiver. He noticed and slightly smirked as he scooted his chair closer to me. He looked over his shoulder to see if Bryson was still busy. ‘’You coming with me?’’ he asked once again. I was gonna hate myself for the decision I was about to make. I closed my eyes briefly and nodded. I’m still weak when it comes to Roman. He sighed in relieve and stood up. ‘’Let’s go.’’

‘’I gotta tell Bryson first, I ain’t leaving like this.’’ I said as I stood up. Roman looked at me worriedly. ‘’I’ll be right back,’’ I reassured him. As I was about to walk over to Bryson, Roman grabbed my hand and made me turn around. ‘’What’s wrong?’’

‘’Nothing, it’s just…’’ He bit his lip and looked at me up and down, ‘’You look so luscious.’’

‘’I’ll be right back,’’ I lightly smiled and walked over to Bryson while wearing my coat. ‘’Hey, I just bumped into a friend of mine and we wanted to catch up, we haven’t seen each other in ages.’’

‘’Oh,’’ he looked a little disappointed, ‘’um alright I think.’’ He smiled and gave me a hug. ‘’Have fun. I hope you enjoyed dinner.’’

‘’Thank you and I did, thanks for everything.’’ I waved at him as he exited the place. I couldn’t help but feel guilty towards him. As I turned around Roman was standing right behind me. ‘’What about your beautiful date?’’ I asked.

‘’I left her some money and told her to do with it what she wanted. She seemed happier when I gave her the money than taking her out on a date.’’ He chuckled. I shook my head and grinned, walking outside with Roman following behind me. I made my way towards his car and waited for him to unlock the doors. ‘’Seems like you still remember,’’ he said as he sat down.

‘’Something such as your car makes quite a statement.’’ I said as I fastened my seatbelt. He chuckled.  I inhaled the familiar scent of his car; it still smelled new with a touch of peach. I looked around and saw he still had the car mat I gave him. Roman once spilled his drink while I was driving his car so I decided to buy another mat for him and he was so happy once he discovered it. I smiled at the memory and looked out of the window as he started to drive towards his house. What used to be a car filled with stories, laughter and sometimes even the harmonious sound between our bodies colliding together, was no longer the case; not one word was being exchanged between the two of us. We drove into his street and a weird feeling came up, nostalgia came close to describe it. As we entered his house, all the memories came up again.

‘’You okay?’’ He asked. I nodded and walked towards him into the living room. ‘’You want anything to drink?’’ I shook my head and sat down on his couch. I had so much mixed feelings right now. ‘’Thank you for coming,’’ he started as he sat next to me.

‘’You’re welcome.’’ I quietly said.

‘’I made a huge mistake,’’ He whispered, ‘’the moment I let you go.’’

‘’And it took you four months to realize?’’ I huffed as I stood up. ‘’I fought for us Roman, I wanted things to work out between us. I knew I had to adapt myself to your lifestyle and I tried my hardest.’’

‘’I know you did, I saw how much you tried and I appreciated it but do you think I liked seeing you having trouble with trying?’’

‘’You could’ve accepted the fact that I did my best? You ended it just like that,’’ I teared up. ‘’I wanted to try, Roman. I never understood why you couldn’t.’’

‘’There was a reason why I ended things, y/n. You think I liked seeing you like that? Bursting out in tears whenever I left? Feeling obligated to stay with me?’’ He stood up and walked towards me. ‘’I never wanted you feel that way, I care about you too much.’’

‘’Yeah sure, if you cared about me at all, you would’ve tried.’’ I turned around so I was facing him.

‘’You know what they say; you don’t know what you have until it’s gone and I’ve realized I need you.’’ He spoke.

‘’After everything I’ve been through, you actually have the nerve to say that now?’’ I asked stunned, ‘’Are you being serious right now or are you playing some kind of sick game because this isn’t the slightest bit funny.’’ My voice full with frustration and disbelieve. It was like I had no control over my body as my hand flew upwards to meet his face. He was quick in action and prevented my hand making contact with his cheek. His large hand wrapped round my wrist easily

‘’What do you think you’re doing?’’ he asked angrily. He stepped closer to me so there wasn’t any space left between our bodies, my wrist still in his tight grip.

‘’I-I’m sorry, that wasn’t my intention,’’ I stuttered, shocked by what I just tried to do. ‘’I should go now.’’

‘’You’re not going anywhere babygirl.’’ His pupils were blown, pure lust and fury in his eyes. Hearing him call me like that after months, made me get goosebumps.  ‘’When I saw you with that guy in the restaurant, something snapped,’’ He wrapped his arm around my tiny waist, his beard brushed against my cheek as he whispered, ‘’no one gets to touch you like that, only me.’’ His deep voice spoke. Without warning he picked me up and threw me over his shoulder as he carried me upstairs.

‘’Roman put me down,’’ I said, trying to sound convincing. He chuckled and smacked my ass. I squealed and dug my nails in his back. Once we entered his familiar bedroom, he threw me on the bed with so much force that I bounced in the middle. He started to loosen up his tie as he hovered above me.

‘’You think you could just try to hit me huh?’’ Roman growled as he grabbed both of my wrists and pinned them above my head. ‘’You were wrong babygirl, actions have consequences.’’

‘’Roman I don’t think we should be doing this,’’ I breathed heavily as he tied my hands to the bedframe with his black tie. He smirked as his hands roamed over my whole body. I betrayed myself by letting out a muffled moan. Who was I fooling? I wanted him as much as he wanted me.

‘’I can stop if you want me to,’’ he whispered as he started to pull back. I shook my head and bit my lip. ‘’Tell me what you want,’’ he demanded, his lips touching mine lightly. I didn’t know what to think, say or do that moment. I missed everything about him; his smell, the way his body felt, his touch. I was completely overwhelmed by everything that was happening but you didn’t hear me complaining. ‘’I still haven’t heard anything yet.’’ He unbuttoned his shirt, throwing it across the room, leaving him shirtless.

‘’Please Roman, I need you,’’ I admitted as I looked him in the eye. The words sounded familiar leaving my lips. Suddenly, I remembered something, something he always enjoyed hearing me say, his weakness. ‘’Please daddy,’’ I whispered. His eyes widened and I could tell his whole body language changed from need to lust. A low growl left his chest as he tore the dress off my body. I was about to complain about ruining my favorite gown, but when he looked me in the eye, I forgot about everything.

‘’Look at you,’’ he licked his lips and got rid of his pants, ‘’all merciful for me.’’ He bent down and unclasped my bra. ‘’Lay back baby, let daddy take care of you.’’

‘’Oh fuck,’’ I moaned as his lips closed around my right nipple, sucking slowly while looking at me. I threw my head back in pleasure, enjoying the way his touch felt against my heated body. His large hands lazily trailed to the waistband of my lace panties, slipping his hand inside. My body tingled as my sensitive bundle of nerves was being touched after so long.

‘’You’re already dripping babygirl, you missed daddy that much, didn’t you?’’ Roman murmured. I nodded, not being able to talk. His tongue left a wet trail from my collarbone to my ear, biting on my earlobe as he pushed his digits inside of me agonizingly slow. I gasped in pleasure as I felt my walls being stretched. Since we broke up, I haven’t been with anyone else. I haven’t craved anyone else their touch but his’.

‘’Fuck baby you’re so tight,’’ he groaned as he looked down. My back arched off the queen sized bed, breathing heavily. He pumped his fingers in and out of me slowly while biting down on my neck. ‘’You love riding daddy’s fingers, don’t you babygirl? You love it when I tell you not to cum, when I whisper dirty things in your ear that turn you on and only make you wetter,’’ his deep, rough voice whispered against my skin. ‘’Tell me, who does this pussy belong to?’’

‘’Y-you daddy,’’ I whimpered. He slowly added a third finger, making me scream in pleasure. I tried to wiggle my hands free from the knot he made so I could do something. I had no idea what, maybe grab his hair or the sheets, something. Once he felt my walls clench around his fingers, he stopped and gently pulled his fingers out of me, leaving me breathless. The heat in my lower abdomen got stronger as he licked his fingers and hummed in approval.

‘’Not yet baby,’’ was all he said as he got rid of my panties and spread my legs. He dove in between my thighs, kissing my drenched pussy like he was kissing me. My head fell back and my eyes closed, letting my other senses take over. His tongue circled my clit slowly before sucking on it gently, inserting his tongue in me right after. I could feel my climax already starting to form, he never had to do much to make me cum, his voice alone was enough.

‘’Roman I’m…so…fuck,’’ I moaned, not able to make a proper sentence. The pleasure he was giving me made me feel intoxicated. He hummed against me causing my hips to rise. He placed his strong arm around my waist, holding me down. ‘’I’m gonna cum,’’ I breathed heavily.

‘’Good girls ask for permission.’’ He said as he added his fingers back inside of me. I couldn’t postpone my orgasm longer so I had no choice.

‘’Can I cum please,’’ I whimpered, ‘’please daddy?’’

‘’Cum for daddy,’’ he smirked and delved his tongue further in my entrance, making me see stats. I haven’t felt this good in a long time. He licked his lips as he crawled back up to kiss me. I groaned when I tasted myself as his tongue slipped in my mouth. We kissed for a good five minutes or so, all the anger, sadness and frustration seemed to have disappeared. I was stalking for myself; Roman, at the other hand, was still frustrated and I could tell by his whole body language. Besides, I know him too well.

As he pulled back, we were both breathing heavily while looking at each other. He climbed off his bed, pulling his pants down along with his boxers. My mouth watered as my eyes fell from his eyes to his dick. ‘’You missed daddy’s dick?’’ He purred as he started to stroke himself while walking to the side of the bed. I nodded and wiggled my hips. He chuckled and climbed back on the bed again, knees next to my body so his dick almost touching my lips. ‘’Suck it,’’ he demanded. I stuck my tongue out and licked the tip, making his head fall back. One hand found his way in my hair as the other started to rub my pussy again. ‘’Ah fuck babygirl, I missed that little mouth of yours,’’ he grunted as I moaned. I could hardly focus as he slowly rubbed my pussy. My mouth closed over his dick, sucking slowly, each time taking more of him. I looked up at him; his eyes shut in pleasure, his whole body tensed. I could feel his dick throb so I knew he was close to cum. He hissed and yanked my hair back, bending down to kiss me. ‘’You want me inside of you?’’

I nodded, watching him walk to the end of his bed, his eyes never leaving mine. I felt so vulnerable but safe at the same time. He positioned himself between my legs, rubbing his dick up and down against my wet slit. He pushed  himself inside of me slowly. I gasped at how big he felt; like he was doing me for the very first time. ‘’Jesus y/n you’re fucking tight,’’

‘’Oh fuck,’’ I whispered. He kept his slow pace going for a while, letting me adjust to his size. After he felt like I was stretched enough, he lifted my leg onto his shoulder and started to vigorously thrust, literally taking my breath away. My head started to spin, my body tingled and I knew I wasn’t going to last long. Neither was Roman.

‘’Ain’t nobody ever told you who your real daddy is?’’ he growled, ‘’You’re mine and I ain’t letting you go anymore,’’

I moaned at the heartwarming yet extremely hot statement he made. This man is just too amazing for words and I’ve missed him. So much. ‘’I’m so close,’’ I moaned. He lightly smiled and started to rub my clit in fast motions. ‘’Oohh myy goddd.’’ My voice grew louder, my insides started to clench around him, the heat in my lower abdomen was starting to build; signing that I was close to another orgasm. Roman noticed and I could tell he was also on the verge by the way his thrusts became sloppy and slow, his breathing became heavier. His dick started to throb inside of me, pushing against my walls which created this incredibly pleasurable feeling.

‘’Cum for daddy babygirl,’’ he moaned.

‘’Romann,’’ I cried out his name as my orgasm shattered throughout my entire body. Roman followed shortly after; his dick twitching inside of me while moaning my name. As I opened my eyes, his hands were placed at either side of my face. I smiled at him and he gave me one in return as he untied my hands. ‘’I think I’ll have to stay the night,’’ I spoke as I snuggled up against him under the covers. He chuckled and placed his arm around me.

‘’I’m really sorry y/n, about everything,’’ he genuinely said, ‘’I’m sorry I hurt you and I’m sorry for not accepting that you tried.’’

‘’That’s all in the past now Ro,’’ I answered him.

‘’Good to hear, because I was thinking,’’ he looked at me and caressed my cheek, ‘’maybe we should try again?’’

He patiently waited for my answer. Not that I had to think about it, I just wanted to make him sweat. ‘’Alright, let’s try.’’ I smiled. He kissed me and intertwined our fingers.

‘’I promise you, you won’t regret it y/n, I love you.’’ He sealed his words with a passionate kiss and we both drifted off.

One of the things I love about Black Paladin Lance is that there are so many possibilies for how he becomes the Black Paladin.  Here are just a few ideas I’ve had:

  • Allura brings up the fact that they’ll need a new Black Paladin and Lance immediantly steps up.  He was the leader pre-voltron so it’s only natural, really.
    • This can also go many ways.
    • Keith freaks the fuck out at Lance because um, hello?  There’s no way Lance would make a good leader, he’s reckless and talks them all into messes all the time.  Not to mention the fact Shiro said he should be the leader, Keith isn’t going to go against Shiro’s words
      • Lance points out that Keith is just as reckless as Lance is, expect Keith is at his most reckless in battle so it’s not a really good idea for Keith to be the leader.  He also mentions that of course Shiro picked Keith for the leader, if Keith’s really that blind to favourism he’s an idiot.  Shiro barely looks at Lance, Hunk, or Coran.
      • The dispute quickly tears the group apart.  Coran and Hunk are for team Lance, Allura (and techinally Shiro) are team Keith
      • Pidge could go either way, on one hand she could go for Keith because 1. She trusts Shiro, and 2. She too doesn’t really notice how good a leader Lance is cause that the type of leader Lance is.  Shiro’s a very obvious leader, he stands above the others (both literally and figuritively) and is helps pull others up.  He’s not entitled but his energy basically screams follow me.  Lance isn’t like that, he’s the type of leader that will stand in front of you when there’s consequences or danger, but outside that he’s standing with you or behind you and pushing you to be your best.  So Pidge just sort of didn’t notice she followed his lead in the garrison.
      • Or Pidge could be Team Lance because she did notice
      • Personally i perfer Pidge being Team Keith and then realizing very quickly she made the wrong choice
      • Lance quickly notices that they’re not getting anywhere arguing about it so he relents (very much ‘fine, whatever, you lead voltron, have fun with that!’ and storms off).  Which, ironically, just further proves he’s better black paladin material
      • Keith becomes the Black Paladin, Lance the Red, Coran the Blue (they need Allura in the castle), Pidge and Hunk remain as they are
      • Keith leads and he’s not terrible at it he’s just not all that good and he doesn’t have time to learn and Lance has to do a lot of back seat leading because Keith just doesn’t understand their strengths and weaknesses, is trying to hard to channel Shiro and becoming a pretty big dick (Shiro’s in a different position, he was already their upperclassman, Keith is techinally meant to be on their level but acting like an upperclassman and it’s pissing everyone off), he’s no help in statergy meetings, and he runs off by himself in battle all the fucking time
        • Lance starts having to shout ‘switch’ during battles beause it’s a better system than arguing with Keith.  He goes off at the guy whenever he runs off.  He ends up having to explain Keith’s half baked ideas.  He’s basically the leader without the black lion and he is so sick of Keith’s shit.  Red is too and they bitch and moan about it together.  Black and Keith don’t talk.
      • And despite all this the only person to come around and think Lance should be their leader is Pidge, Allura is still very, very sure Lance is not a good idea
      • Until she actually she’s him in action.  For whatever reason Lance is forced to pose as Voltron’s representative/Leader on a planet and Allura expects it to go terrible but it doesn’t.  Lance is still flirty and ridiculous but he’s able to sit down and be serious.  Maybe Keith pissed someone off and Lance has to talk Keith’s way out of jail, maybe he’s trying to convince them to help despite the danger it puts the planet in
      • Whatever it is he succeeds and when he comes back they have a whole new talk about who the leaders going to be.  Lance is given the role and the first thing he asks is if Keith is truly fine with that.  Que Keith feeling guilty because he expected Lance to be an asshole about it but nope
      • Lance is still immature and insists on making Voltron bow after distressing things, tells Pidge they can finally make Voltron dab and other such stuff but he’s serious side is out more often and everything goes amazingly with Voltron
    • OR: Keith doesn’t speak up.  Maybe he doesn’t think Lance will be the best leader but he doesn’t want to be the leader.  Allura’s still not very sure about it, but Coran and Hunk (and maybe Pidge) all insist it’s a good idea and no one else steps up so Lance becomes the black paladin
      • Everything goes really well.  Again, Lance is immature and a flirt but when the situation calls for it he’s as good and mature a leader as Allura and Shiro
      • Allura apologizes for misjudging me and Lance jokes about her finally falling for his charms in just a matter of time and Allura gets pissed and Lance laughs only to admit that it means a lot she said that
      • He doesn’t find out Keith was meant to lead until they’re saving Shiro.  Lance walks in the black lion behind him (his armour now black) and Shiro can’t make out who it is at first he just says something along the lines of ‘keith, i knew you’d come for me’ with a grin and Lance frowns and steps closer and says ‘i’m not keith dude, can you see okay?’ and shiro finds and his first reaction is to ask if Keith is okay, why isn’t he the black paladin? and Lance is starting to get pissed because seriously shiro?  is it so unlucky to him that Lance could be a leader?  But he sucks it up and answers everything calmly because he has a fucking person to save
      • Shiro doesn’t even think to thank him in all that goes on and Lance just gets really, really bitter
      • like he knows he shouldn’t be and all but he’s upset.  He’s been running on fumes for weeks making sure everyone else is healthy, coming up with plans with Allura and their allies, making those allies, and just all the stress of causing all the shots and now this.  He still manages to collect himself and put on a brave face but he has a short fuse these days, he’s on edge, and everyone is on edge because of it
      • the tension doesn’t help either, they’ve saved shiro but now what?  it’s not like shiro can just slip back into the place he had, he needs time to heal and readjust and everyone else needs time to readjust like they planned to save shiro but they never really planned past that
      • Things with Shiro and Lance just get worse.  Shiro doesn’t know how to treat a Lance who no longer has a hero complex, who knows he’s earnt his place and has a right to speak up against Shiro.  Shiro finds it weird enough that Lance is sitting in on all the meetings they’re having, let alone that he’s an active part of those meetings unlike the others who may listen but don’t really interact (thinking the BoM style planning, Lance was clearly listening in and looking for faults in their plans only to find none while the others weren’t paying as much attention)
      • It also doesn’t help that he doesn’t see the awesome leader Lance was because normally Lance is so much more patient.  He hears Lance ask why Keith didn’t tell him about Shiro’s wish and Keith admits he didn’t want to lead and Lance gets mad because this isn’t school anymore.  Someone can’t be your replacement because you don’t want to do something.  They get into an argument but that’s more or less the way they commicate, so what Lance says gets through to Keith it’s just not how Shiro would do things
      • And that’s what it comes down to, really.  The fact Lance leads in a different way to Shiro.  He never once tried to be shiro because he know it wouldn’t work.  He’s a great leader in his own right, it’s just that shiro has a hard time seeing anyone elses training styles as right.
      • They end up having a heart to heart in Black.  Lance was chilling in his pilot chair sort of just sighing and trying to get it out of his system and Shiro showed up to reconnect with his lion and he stumbles upon Lance and Black like just talking.  And Shiro doesn’t get it because it was never that easy with him but that’s because they’re different people with different needs.  Lance needs to talk, Shiro doesn’t.
      • So Lance and Black talk in a way only pilot and paladin can.  Shiro clears his throat and Lance ends up telling him how he feels (like the crystal seen with coran).  He tells Shiro how he’s just… he knows he’s going to be kicked to the back on the group again because thats what happened last time and he just isn’t happy about it because he’s made his spot on the team and now it’s falling through his fingers.  He admits he’s made Shiro was surprised Lance was the leader, like Lance knew Shiro didn’t notice him but it still hurt.
      • And Shiro feels like shit and they work through their problems like adults
  • OR: Lance doesn’t step forward as leader.  They’re in their lions about to go into battle but Keith… Keith can’t enter Black.  The lion once more has his particle barrier up and he won’t let Keith in.
    • Lance, because he’s in red and feels its better he sit out than Keith, flies over to see if he can help.  Keith’s still trying to push in and Lance makes a joke about needing to knock (like he did with Blue) and it fucking works.
    • Maybe they don’t realize at first cause Keith was also pushing at the barrier but Keith steps forward and Black doesn’t lower his head.  Instead the cat basically rolls his eyes and moves to lower his head and let Lance in
    • Lance is hella shell shocked and just sort of… walks in.  Like, okay then I guess I’m your paladin now?  ‘no shit kid lets go’ says black as Lance sits in his pilots chair and it just sorta happens
    • he rejoins the fight and everyones like ‘you got it working!  good job’ and Lance is like ‘well actually’
    • Hunk, Coran, and/or Pidge could be like ‘called it’ or everything could just be really confusing and tense until Black rolls his eyes again and tells Lance to just focus already holy fuck dude war zone
    • Things go swimmingly
  • OR: Allura annouces it has to be the blue paladin, always.  The Blue Lion is the only one with a qunsitence that will match the black lion and therefore they don’t have a choice, lance is the leader
    • Lance is thrilled at first and then not everyone else is
    • Hunk and Coran are so proud, as are the mice
    • Again, 50/50 on if Pidge is okay with this or not.
    • Keith is not, he complains that Lance is nothing like Shiro (Lance argues that neither is Zarkon) and gets really uffy about it
    • Allura attempts that she’s not happy about it either but there’s not really anything they can do so they’ll have to stuck it up and deal with it
    • Their balant dislike of Lance pushes him to not be so proud.  He knows if they’re going to work as a team they’ll need to all accept him as a leader so he starts pushing himself way to hard
    • he also tries to be more like shiro, which really doesn’t work out for him
    • he’s not sure Black will accept him at first but the lion does only he refuses to commicate with Lance properly.
    • Lance pushes himself too far in training, barely gets any sleep, and constantly gets into fights with Keith and Allura because he’s just looking out for them but fuck off lance, just because you’re the black paladin doesn’t mean you can order us around
    • his insecurities just get worse
    • he starts getting wreckless, not as a leader but as a person
    • he takes every hit he can for the others, stops eating almost entirely, stops talking as much etc.
    • Coran and Hunk notice but they don’t know what to do (Hunk’s used to calling up an older sibling or Lance’s mama for this but he can’t right now) but Allura and Keith are blissfully unaware.
    • Until Lance ends up in the healing pods because he pushed himself too far and Allura and Keith get mad at him for it and Lance just doesn’t have the energy to fight.  He ends up telling them to search for a new black paladin then, if they’re so against him he will back down the moment they find someone.  Maybe they’ll actually give that person a chance to be a leader
    • He doesn’t say it rudely or like they could never find another, he just says it plainly and then Hunk leads him to get some food.
    • Que Allura and Keith feeling like shit and realizing they really haven’t given Lance a chance.  Allura reviews it and wow, Lance is actually great in battle as the black lion.  In fact the biggest fuck ups are from Keith refusing to listen.  Keith has a good long think-and-stare-at-my-blade session
    • They both decide they do need to give Lance a chance, Lance doens’t exactly trust them at first but they try and everyone finds it fits rather well.  Lance starts to relax more now that Allura and Keith aren’t jumping on his every flaw.  Allura starts listening to him.  Keith starts following his orders
    • And they’re happy
    • For all of 5 minutes

Part 1

A/N: @iknowyoufeelme because you gotta be the first to know this is up

“Mind if we join you?” he questioned. You could see the look in Calum’s eyes and knew what was happening. He was jealous. The type of jealous that made you question just exactly where the two of you stood in your “relationship.”

Before either you or Eric could respond Calum was sliding into the booth along with his friends. As a result, you were smushed between Eric and Calum while Calum was between you and Ria. “What are you doing here?” you asked Calum. To everyone else your words sounded like an innocent question, but to Calum he could clearly hear the waver in your voice and a hint of annoyance. You could see the smirk on Calum’s face begin to grow.

“We just stopped by to grab some food. You know I think I saw you at the party, Y/N I could have sworn I overheard you saying you weren’t coming tonight,” Calum said. For a split second you could see Calum glower at you. His jaw had clenched and he looked down at you with raised eyebrows.

“Y/N decided last minute that she wanted to come,” Eric answered for you. He looked at Calum with the same expression the Maori boy was giving and you could feel his hand pull you into him even more. Calum had noticed the action too and his clenched jaw grew even more.

“Hi I’m Ria. I don’t think we’ve properly met,” Calum’s girlfriend interjected, breaking the tension that was in the air. She had peered over Calum’s shoulder and sent you a beaming smile. You studied the girl curiously taking in her dyed blue hair and piercing brown eyes. “I’m guessing you all have class together?” she commented, resting her chin on Calum’s shoulder. You were stunned. Ria’s friendliness taking you aback for a minute. The two of you had crossed paths before, but had never actually spoken to one another. From looking at her now you could tell Ria had not the slightest clue what was going on. She only assumed what Calum must have told her that they were going to grab something to eat.

“I’m Eric,” the boy beside you spoke up, reaching the hand that wasn’t wrapped around you to shake Ria’s hand.

“Y/N,” you smiled, feeling guilty at the fact that you were fucking this girl’s boyfriend and she had no idea. You had always wondered what it would be like to meet Ria; thinking she would be the nastiest person ever or some stuck up bitch. Instead you were met with the opposite. This girl seemed sweet and from the looks of it she was so in love with Calum. It made you sick to your stomach at the fact that you were hurting her.

“You two look like a couple. Am I right?” she asked. You could feel Calum stiffen up beside you and broken sentences began to leave your lips as Calum stared at you curiously.

“Uh no-we’re-uh,” you muttered not sure what to say.

“We haven’t gotten that far yet,” Eric laughed making an uneasy smile come across your face. Calum was scowling now and you swallowed hard. This must have been what Eric wanted to admit. That he had feelings for you and wanted to take you out on a date.

“Are we going to eat or what!?!” one of Calum’s friends whined. Michael, you mentally reminded yourself. Calum’s group nodded in agreement and before you knew it they had gone off to grab food.

“Excuse me I have to use the restroom,” you muttered, slipping past Eric quickly and making a dash for the bathroom. You felt terrible and your fingers tightly gripped onto the porcelain sink as you dry heaved into it. You felt tears prick at the corner of your eyes and your breath became ragged. “What are you doing?” you muttered to yourself. Your head lifted and you stared at your reflection in the mirror. Your eyes closed and you sucked in a deep breath before slowly exhaling. You then turned on the faucet and began to dab cold water on your face to cool your skin. Ria didn’t deserve any of this. She didn’t deserve to have Calum cheating on her. After finally meeting the girl you realized all of this was wrong. Your feelings for Calum went beyond sexual intimacy which made you feel even more guilty. After a few minutes you left the bathroom only to run into Calum.

“So you and Eric huh?” Calum questioned, leaning against the opposite wall and staring at your with dark eyes. You rolled your eyes at his words and crossed your arms over your chest.

“So you’re all of a sudden jealous?” you scoffed, “Go back to your girlfriend, Cal and let me enjoy my night.”  You tried to walk past him, but Calum was quick to grab your arm and pulled you back into him.

“I thought I made it clear that you weren’t coming to the party tonight and yet when I look across the room what do I see? You grinding up against pretty boy back there,” Calum hissed. You bit onto your bottom lip and your eyebrows furrowed in confusion. You weren’t sure if Calum was angry that you had gone to the party, or that you were flirting with Eric, or both. “I’m telling you now that I’m not one to share, so whatever the fuck you have going on with him you need to end it,” Calum demanded. You looked at him in surprise and you could feel your anger boiling.

“You’re not one to share!” you exclaimed, immediately being shushed by Calum. You accusingly pointed your finger at him. “You’re such a hypocrite. You’re not one to share, but I’m the one sharing you, Calum!” You pushed at his chest in anger the minute he took a step towards you. “How could you? How can cheat on Ria? Sit there next to her all while you’re secretly screwing me in the backseat of your car?” you questioned. Calum stared at you in shock. “You wanted me to stay in my lane and so I did. Not once did I approach you at the party, but all of a sudden you get jealous and follow me out just to ruin things.” You caught your breath, chest heaving up and down at your small rant.

“You done?” Calum questioned, looking at you with a bored expression. Your mouth clamped shut and you could feel your skin become hot. Calum peered out the hall and his eyes landed to where the group was. Everyone had gotten back to the table with their respective food. They were all to engrossed in conversation to notice that you and Calum were gone. “I’m not the only one in the wrong here, Y/N. You knew from the jump that I had a girlfriend. You enjoyed sleeping with me as much as I enjoyed sleeping with you, so don’t go around pointing the blame at me when you’re the one at fault too,” he said in a low menacing voice. Calum licked his lips and he inched closer to you until he was towering over you, but also looking down at you. You swallowed hard and just like earlier that day your breath was sucked out of you. “Just because you went against what I said I’ll be stopping by your place at three to remind you who’s in charge. This is the last time I’m telling you…I don’t share, so end things with Eric.” With that said he left to head back to the group and seconds later you rejoined them. Your happy mood deflated as everyone sat eating and Calum spent the rest of the time making out with Ria.

“You and Calum are what!?!” Eric questioned, mouth parting in surprise. His mouth quickly closed when he felt the food almost fall out. You quickly glanced at your surrounding to make sure no one was eavesdropping on your conversation. Talking in the dining hall resulted in everyone knowing your business whether you wanted them to know or not.

“We’re sleeping with each other,” you repeated, nose scrunching up in fear of what Eric might say. You flicked your fork about in the pasta you had been eating and avoided Eric’s gaze. He swallowed the food in his mouth and then cleared his throat.

“Why are you telling me this?” he asked, shifting in his spot at how awkward the air between you two had become. Eric’s feelings for you was clearly known by now and hearing that the girl he was currently seeing was also having sex with someone else wasn’t something he wanted to know. He wasn’t expecting your lunch date to turn into this discussion at all.

“Because I really like you and I thought you should know because I’m such a terrible person for sleeping with a guy that has a girlfriend,” you explained. It was true, in your mind you were the worst person ever for possibly ruining a relationship. Ever since the party you and Eric had been spending a lot of time together. You had even gone on a few dates to Calum’s dismay and throughout the whole thing you were still seeing Calum.

“You’re not a terrible person, Y/N,” Eric reassured, grabbing your hand and giving it a small squeeze. He let out a deep sigh and asked the question that was nagging at the back of his brain. “So what you’re telling me is that you’re a side chick?” Eric hesitantly asked in shock, he slumped back into his spot. When you said you had something to tell him, well Eric wasn’t expecting to hear this. You quietly nodded and was suddenly aware at how much he was staring at you.

“It’s not something I’m proud of okay? I feel bad because after meeting Ria and seeing how nice she is…god I’m so stupid for getting myself into this mess,” you sighed, chewing frantically at your bottom lip. This wasn’t fair to Eric or Ria.

“Then why not end it? Clearly you feel second to Ria, so you shouldn’t feel like that with someone you’re dating,” Eric explained. He somehow caught on to the fact that you must have had some type of feelings for Calum. Otherwise you would have ended things sooner.

“Calum told me to end things with you. He doesn’t like to share,” you said. Erick blinked back in surprise. You eyebrows rose in a ‘yeah I know’ type of way and you continued to poke at your food. Eric rolled his eyes.

“What does he mean “he doesn’t want to share” that’s a bunch of bullshit. Y/N you should be with someone that doesn’t hide you away from the world. Someone that wouldn’t cheat on their girlfriend,” Eric said, he squeezed your hand again. You could already tell what Eric’s next words were going to be, but Eric wasn’t the one to say it.

“Someone like you I’m guessing?” the all too familiar voice butted in. Eric’s face contorted into a scowl and he turned in his spot to face Calum.

“Always a pleasure, Hood,” Eric said. You could hear the sarcasm in his voice. “But yeah now that you mention it Y/N should be with someone like me,” Eric stated. You could see Calum’s hand ball up into a fist and the vein on his neck only seemed to pulsate as his anger grew. “At least she would know she was number one in my life. Unlike you,” Eric said, staring Calum down. You were lost for words. Even if you and Calum weren’t in a relationship you knew just how possessive he became. In Calum’s mind you were his even if you were just his side piece. You could feel the tension get thick and it must have been felt around the area too. Almost everyone that was close by was staring at the three of you. Overhearing everything that was being said.

“What makes you think she would want to be yours?” Calum taunted, raising an eyebrow in challenge. “You don’t know Y/N like I do, so I suggest you back up off my girl before we have a problem,” he said. Eric smirked at Calum’s words and scratched at his cheek in amusement. Eric looked at you then back to Calum and then back to you again. To both yours and Calum’s surprise Eric’s head dipped down to give you a quick, but passionate kiss.

Calum so far hadn’t made a move, but Eric decided to take things one step further. Getting up from his spot and getting in Calum’s personal space. “I don’t think she’s yours, but you know I wonder what Ria would think about your little affair with Y/N?” Eric’s words came out as a threat. “You know I think I see her coming into the cafeteria now,” Eric stated. Calum didn’t even hear Eric’s last words. Eric had already pushed Calum’s buttons enough by kissing you and he tipped the scale even more by threatening to expose him as a cheater. Calum’s fist flew up and collided with Eric’s jaw. You let out a small yelp and reared back as Eric stumbled for a second then took a swing at Calum too. Not too long after the two were fighting right there in front of everyone. Eric sent a punch to Calum’s stomach making him double over in pain for a minute before he sucker punched Eric in the eye.

“STOP IT!” you yelled, not wanting to jump between the two in fear of getting caught in the crossfire of their punches. They were on the ground now and you watched in horror as Eric tackled Calum down into a chokehold. “Holy fuck,” you gasped, your hands flying up to grip at your hair. Calum jabbed his elbow into Eric’s stomach and Eric grunted, hiis hold on Calum releasing. Calum gasped for air, but was quick to get back to fighting.

“CALUM!” Ria shouted now joining you to watch the two boys go at it. Calum’s attention was taken off of the other guy at the sound of his girlfriend’s voice. Ria was looking at him in surprise not sure why he was fighting Eric. At that moment Eric pinned Calum down to the ground and overpowered him. You had remembered Eric telling you he was on the wrestling team for the college.

“Tell her!” Eric demanded making Calum face Ria. You shook your head no. This was the opposite of what you wanted. Calum spat out blood and glared at Eric’s words. “If you don’t I will,” Eric threatened. Though he didn’t have a chance to fulfill his threat, Calum’s group of friends pushing through the crowd and pulling Eric off their friend.

“Break it up!” Luke yelled, pushing Eric in your direction and flinging Calum towards Ashton and Michael. “You don’t do this shit on school grounds man!” Luke yelled, slapping Calum upside the head. Calum wiped blood from his mouth and glanced towards you. You were too busy trying to make sure if Eric was okay to notice his longing look. But Ria noticed it, her attention shifting between you and Calum. Out of everyone in the group she didn’t know her boyfriend was cheating on her with you.

“Look I have feelings for you too Y/N and I won’t be second to that asshole, so whatever you have with Calum you need to figure it out and when you do then give me a call when you’ve sorted it out,” Eric said, grabbing the napkins you had given him to wipe his bloody nose. He gave you one last kiss before grabbing his things and leaving. Pushing past Calum and exiting the cafeteria before campus police could show up. You let out a huff and looked at Calum in worry. Your attention was taken off of him when you felt a tap on your shoulder. You turned to see Ria eyeing you nervously.

“I couldn’t help but overhear what Eric had said to you, but answer my question honestly,” she slowly said. Her words had reached Calum’s ears, who wasn’t standing that far away from the two of you, and his eyes widened in horror. Clearly Ria had put two and two together, though she had some suspicion about Calum cheating this fight only seemed to heighten it. Now she was going to the source wanting to hear from your mouth that you were in fact having sex with her boyfriend. “Are you sleeping with my boyfriend?” she questioned.

My family is going to be moving houses at the end of June, and since I’ve started packing away my books, I thought I might as well share some of my books with y’all and give some book recs while I’m at it!

First up is the LGBTQ+ books I own. Unfortunately, I don’t have very many given it’s kinda difficult to find ones with plots that I like. (I contemplated whether or not to include the wtnv novel in this one, but seeing as it’s not centered around Cecil and Carlos, I decided to leave it out for now).

But anyways, here they are:

Aristotle and Dante Discover the Secrets of the Universe by Benjamin Alire Saenz - A coming-of-age story about two young Mexican boys, Aristotle “Ari” Mendoza and Dante Quintana, who are as different as can be, but who somehow manage to forge an unbreakable connection that spans from childhood to adolescence, and beyond. Ari is angry and confused and from a broken family. Dante is gentle, and emotional, and is “crazy about his parents”. Dante knows he’s gay. And Ari has no idea what to make of his relationship with his best friend.

This one is super sweet and isn’t in the picture because it’s with Natsu at the moment. But it’s really thoughtful and adorable, and I just love Ari and Dante to bits and pieces. Definitely a must-read, guys!

Beautiful Music For Ugly Children by Kirstin Cronn-Mills -  About a young trans teen named Gabe who recently came out to his best friend and parents. The book is about him trying to make peace with who he is. Mostly, he does this through his love of music, and his bond with his next door neighbour, an old man who helps him get his first radio show, where he quickly develops a following of fans who fall for his unique taste in music and his quirky personality.

Carry On by Rainbow Rowell - A Harry Potter-inspired fantasy book with an absolutely fascinating magic system. We follow an orphaned chosen one who’s just trying to get through the his last school year at his magic boarding school, the Watford School of Magicks, while the entire magical community somehow expects him to save them from the villain who’s been stealing their magic. And not to mention having to deal with his archnemesis vampire roommate who has probably been trying to kill him since the moment they met in first year. But after being broken up with by his girlfriend, and invited to his aforementioned archnemesis’ house over Christmas break, needless to say nothing is going as he would have expected. This entire book reads like some kind of strange, drarry roommates au fanfiction, and it’s absolutely GLORIOUS.

every day by David Levithan -  “A” doesn’t have a body of their own. For every single morning of their life, they’ve woken up in a different person’s body, with no friends or family or life to call their own. And it’s all fine. A’s gotten used to it, made peace with their fate. They’ve learned not to get too attached to anyone, learned not to attract too much attention or interfere too much with the life of the body they wake up in. That is, until they somehow find themselves falling in love with the girlfriend of one of the guys whose body they’re borrowing one day. I actually had to consider for a while whether or not to include this book, because a lot of the most important bodies A inhabits throughout this book are male bodies, and the main female lead is straight. But A themself is nonbinary and pan. They identify as whatever gender the body they’re in is, and are attracted to people regardless of their gender. Loved this book to bits and pieces, really bittersweet. It has a sequel called “Another Day” which is focused mainly on the Rhiannon, the female love interest, but I haven’t read that one yet since I’m not terribly interested in her.

Fan Art by Sarah Tregay - This one is….very juvenile. And by that, I mean it’s one of those idyllic, clichéd ya romances that we all like to pretend we don’t like, but that has all the tropes that we just adore in fanfiction and that we inevitably end up finishing in one sitting. It’s about a high schooler named Jamie who’s recently realized he’s head over heels for his (seemingly) straight best friend, Mason. Cue teen drama and angst and mutual pining. A really cute, light read with an adorable little comic near the beginning.

More Than This by Patrick Ness - Seth attempts suicide by trying to drown himself, and is pretty sure he succeeded. He felt his skull bash against the rocks after all. Only…he wakes up, naked, thirsty, starving, and utterly alone. He has absolutely no clue where he is, but the abandoned, crumbling, overgrown streets seem somehow vaguely familiar to him.

A suspenseful, thrilling, heartbreaking post-apocalypse with a gay protag that absolutely definitely has room for a sequel, though I don’t think the author has any plans to write one.

Openly Straight by Bill Konigsberg - Rafe Goldberg is openly gay, and has a pretty good life. His parents are super supportive, he’s popular at school and has lots of friends, and no one really cares that he’s gay. But he’s getting tired of always being labelled as “the gay friend”. He just wants to be a “regular guy” and not “the gay guy.” So when he transfers to an all-boys’ boarding school, he decides to become “openly straight” instead. But just when everything was going perfectly for him, it all starts unravelling when he finds himself falling for one of his new friends.

I have mixed feelings about this one. I enjoyed it quite a bit while I was reading it, but the ending left me quite unsatisfied, and after having some time away to think about it, I’m not entirely sure I like the main character very much. He’s kinda really manipulative. Read at your own risk.

Proxy by Alex London - Sydney “Syd” Carton is a proxy. Rescued from the wastelands as an infant, his debt to the city was bought by a huge corporation that sells the lives of orphans like him to various rich and powerful people, who buy them as scapegoats for their own children. Syd’s patron, Knox Brindle, is exactly the rebellious, asshole bad boy that every proxy dreads. When Knox breaks an expensive vase, Syd is beaten. When Knox crashes a car, Syd is forced to donate a dangerous amount of blood to keep him alive. When a girl dies because of Knox’s aforementioned car crash…Syd gets the death penalty. His mad attempt to flee his fate leads to the accidental kidnapping of his patron and has the two of them branded as terrorists, leading to a crazy, cross-country chase that will change their entire world as they know it.

This book. Is literally one of my favourite books in the entire fucking world. Hands down the best dystopia book I’ve ever read. The characters are absolutely fantastic, the character development is fucking amazing (Knox somehow ended up becoming my fav character???), the world is rich and vibrant, and the book is beautiful and thrilling and utterly heartbreaking. If you read just one book from this entire list, let it be this one. It also has a sequel, for those of you interested, though I haven’t read it (and don’t plan on it either), so I can’t really vouch for it.

Will Grayson, Will Grayson by John Green and David Levithan - When two boys from completely different social circles and personalities somehow stumble across each other on one mutually crappy night, their shared name brings both their lives careening together in a strange, complicated, and downright frustrating way.

This one….was kinda dark. It was funny, because one of the Will Graysons is an edgy lil emo kid who thinks strictly in lowercase and writes angsty poetry and he’s absolutely adorable. But it also addresses some very real hardships and struggles that both gay and straight teens have to face.

Klance head canons? Please?

Ooooo I gotchu  \(・∀・ )/

  • Lance sings all the time
    • Like, he’ll sing actual songs, but he also has a habit of making his own lyrics whenever he feels the need:
      • L: Mullet man, mullet man, does whatever a mullet can-
      • K: Lance, that doesn’t even make sense!
      • L: Neither does your hair!
    • The others complain, but they all, deep down, actually quite like hearing Lance sing, especially Keith:
      • L: *singing nonsense*
      • K: You have a really pretty voice, you know that?
      • L: *too flustered to speak for the rest of the day*
      • K:  (-_- ) Typical.
  • Keith is a cup: holds things.
    • Literally, anything Lance finds on the ground, be that a cool looking rock or stick, or something he picks up at a strange planet, he hands to Keith to carry
    • It all started because Keith offered to hold something for Lance once since Lance’s pockets were already full (he has like…two that are actually functional) and it never stopped
      • L: Keith can you hold this please?
      • K: Do I have a choice?
      • L: I mean, you don’t have to…*pulls out the puppy eyes, and Keith is weak*
      • K: Finnnnneeeee…
    • He doesn’t mind that much though, since seeing Lance’s eyes light up whenever he hands him something he finds interesting is so worth it, even if at the end of the day he’s carting around like, 15 pounds worth of extra junk
    • But they’re treasures to Lance, which makes them priceless to Keith
    • He did, however, make the mistake of offering Lance his utility belt after a particularly overzealous morning of collecting, and got the silent treatment the rest of the day because No way in HELL am I wearing something so hideous! And How dare you even suggest such a thing?!
      • Keith wanted to be offended, but imagining Lance in a “glorified fanny pack” (his words, not Keith’s), was too much to handle, so he let it drop
  • Lance’s pants are not actually jeans. They’re jeggings.
    • K: They don’t even have pockets!
    • L: It’s called comfort Keith, look it up.
    • K: It’s impractical.
    • L: Coming from the guy in yoga pants.
    • K: These are LULULEMON YOU IGNORANT SLUT.
    • L: ಠ_ಠ
  • Lance knows Morse Code
      • he learned it as a child after seeing it in a movie, and he and his siblings all used it as a way to communicate after bedtime
      • since they weren’t actually talking to each other it made for a good loophole, and they got really good at conversing that way
    • post Voltron discovery, Lance finds himself tapping out random sentences on surfaces around the ship whenever he’s nervous/stressed/or missing home, as a way to calm himself
    • the others all think its just him being fidgety, but Keith knows
      • he picked it up from watching too many spy movies as a child, and though he never had any siblings to send messages to, Keith found comfort in the fact that he could outwardly insult his teachers/adults without them knowing what he was saying
    • Needless to say Keith knows what Lance is saying as he taps his fingers idly on the table at dinner one night
    • And later on, he understands the questions Lance is asking from the soft taps against his wall (his bed is right next to Lance’s, that’s canon folks-plus those walls are thin as fuck)
    • Questions Lance used to ask his siblings after their parents had tucked them in:
      • You up?
      • Did you like supper?
      • Can I sleep in your bed?  (Lance used to get terrible nightmares, and sleeping alone was a big no-no)
    • And Keith is smiling to himself as he hears these messages, because he can just imagine Lance’s poor parents having to suffer through the irregular knocks and taps, knowing their kids were up to something, but having no proof
    • But then his smile fades, because he knows Lance must be hurting
    • He knows that he’s missing home, and his family, even though he hides it from the others
    • So Keith lifts a hand hesitantly, and taps out an answer to Lance’s first question against the wall that separates their rooms:
      • Yes, I’m awake.
    • There’s a few moments of silence, and then Keith hears a quick series of taps:
      • You can understand this?
      • Obviously.
      • Oh…then: Did you like supper?
    • And it goes on like that, with them conversing without words, with Keith hearing the odd chuckle or two coming from Lance’s room after some of his replies, and it warms Keith’s heart
    • It’s after an hour or so of this that Keith feels bold enough to answer the last of Lance’s initial questions, and he taps out the words quickly so as not to chicken out:
      • There’s room in my bed if you want to sleep over.
    • And he’s holding his breath as he awaits a reply, but the next knocks he hears don’t come from the wall, but rather his door
    • And as Keith gets up to answer it, he sees Lance standing there, pillow in hand, blanket draped across his shoulder, and a sheepish grin on his face
    • And Keith grins back, moving aside so Lance can enter, and the two pass out curled up against one another, warding off nightmares and smiling in their sleep.
      • The next morning the two walk in on Hunk questioning Allura about the mice getting into the walls, and Lance nearly chokes from stifling his laughter
    • Oh boy I actually have a lot for this one, so…be on the lookout for a fic ;)
I Won't Say It

Requested by an anonymous flubble for their birthday. They wanted an Eleven fic based off of the song “I Won’t Say I’m In Love” and I’m pretty sure I nailed it (I even managed to incorporate some lyrics).

And for those of you wondering why Jack Harkness is here - first of all, Jack Harkness is too good to not be here, and secondly, he’s the best person I could think of to be a sassy singing Greek Muse in a toga whose most pressing interest is matchmaking. (Except for maybe Donna, but I don’t think she’d put up with all this nonsense.)

Also, look at this gif. Look at those lips. Just look at the lips. Look at them.

“I’m not doing this with you, Jack.”

“Like you have anything better to do than me.”

You glared at Jack Harkness, Captain of the Innuendo Squad, and wondered how long it would be before Jack got distracted by something shiny and ran off. That’s basically what he did last time. Alright, so last time, the “something shiny” had been a blue alien woman in very revealing clothing (what she was revealing, you weren’t sure, but that was not one bit human at all), but the point stood that Jack could be distracted from this current line of discussion. But, considering the lack of revealing aliens in this situation and how intent Jack seemed to be on having this conversation, you doubted it would happen like that again anytime soon. Shame.

“You’re disgusting,” you said plainly, playfully tossing a grape at him so he would know you weren’t quite as angry as you sounded. He leaned back and caught it in his mouth.

“You love it," Jack said around the grape. He chewed it with a smirk on his face.

You picked up another grape and stuck it in your own mouth. "No. And we’re not talking about this.”

“Oh, so we’re not talking about your very mature, reasonable crush on a really sexy Time Lo-”

“No, we’re not!” you snapped. Now you were angry. Or at least very, very frustrated.

This conversation happened a lot. Every time the Doctor left you and Jack alone in the TARDIS (which the Doctor seemed a little uncomfortable with because he always tried to take you with him and leave Jack behind, but you and Jack weren’t having any of that), Jack hounded you about your ‘crush’ on the Doctor. It wasn’t a crush, though, and you knew that, and you were pretty sure that Jack knew it too, which was why he was pushing it so hard. Because it was more than a crush, way more, and Jack wanted you to say it.

“And we’re not talking about it,” you continued, angrily chomping down on another grape, "because there’s nothing to talk about.“

"Who d'ya think you’re kiddin’?” Jack drawled. “You like him…”

You rolled your eyes. “What are you, four?”

“Nah. I’m six, at least.” Jack gave you that grin, the you-can’t-hate-me-because-I’m-so-cute-and-sinful grin, trying to take the edge off of the conversation. It didn’t work. "Honey, I think the world of you, but this is ridiculous. You love the Doctor. Can’t you face it like a grown-up?“

Hurt stung you. He hadn’t actually said anything offensive, but there had been a veiled accusation of immaturity there, and you couldn’t defend yourself and tell him that it wasn’t like that, not without saying exactly what you didn’t want to say. So instead, you said:

"Get off my case, Jack, would you?”

Jack scoffed irritably. Jack rarely got angry, as far as you had seen, but this was obviously getting to him. You didn’t want to see what an angry Jack was like, but you weren’t going to give in just because he got huffy. There was no good reason for him to get to bully you like this and you weren’t about to let him do it, either.

The grapes were left forgotten on the granite countertop of the island in the TARDIS’s oddly compact kitchen. You had stood up in an effort to regain the upper hand by making yourself taller than Jack, but Jack was leaning forward in his seat, halfway to standing up himself. Oh, he wasn’t going to turn this into an actual fight, was he? You had never fought with him. Why did he have to push this?

“You can’t keep denying this. It’s unhealthy,” Jack hissed. “You’re too proud to say it and you’re making yourself miserable.”

“Oh, please.” You put as much biting sarcasm into your voice as you could, trying to stave back the sting that was making your eyes water. You were going to cry. You didn’t want to cry, not in front of Jack or in front of anybody, but especially not in an argument like this.

“You love him.”

“No way. Nuh-uh.”

“And he loves you too!”

Now that was taking it too far. That hurt.

Jack!” you snapped. A single hot tear welled over and made a scorching path down your cheek. You aggressively wiped it away, trying to save face despite your complete loss of control.

You knew your face was red - you could feel the heat of blood rushing up to your face. Your ears were hot and your mouth felt full of cotton. You weren’t sure how this had escalated so quickly, and maybe it wouldn’t have under normal circumstances, and maybe you wouldn’t have let tears fall so easily, but this was a wound that had been festering for years and Jack had poked at it in all the ways that hurt the worst.

Jack stared at you, stunned by the way you had broken so quickly. He didn’t know what to do - he knew that you needed to face up to this, but he hadn’t realized that it was so bad that you would… well, this. He had never made you cry, not once in all the years since you had met. The Doctor, who could sometimes be extraordinarily insensitive, had made you cry multiple times, and Jack had never failed to give the Doctor hell for it, but this wasn’t the Doctor. This was him. Jack had made you cry, and he didn’t know what to do about.

“I-” He swallowed, trying to find the words. He stood up from his seat, slowly moving to comfort you. “Aw, Sweetie, I’m sorry, I didn’t mean-”

“Just stop, Jack. Okay?” You shuffled towards the sink, purposefully out of Jack’s reach. "Just stop.“

You grabbed a scrubbing brush and began to clean dishes that had been left to soak in soapy water. The TARDIS could do he own dishes very well and didn’t mind doing them, but you liked to extend her the courtesy of doing it yourself. Not to mention it was a good distraction. With your back to Jack, you couldn’t see him and he wasn’t saying anything.

Finally, you heard the scrape of a chair and the quick footsteps of Jack making his escape from the kitchen. You sighed in relief even as another traitorous tear slipped from your blotchy cheek and into the sudsy water. You looked at your murky reflection. Your eyes were already red and puffy, just for two little tears, and your cheeks were terribly flushed.

"Get a grip, girl,” you told your reflection, and then you splashed it away with frothy suds and a tea-stained mug.

Since bringing Jack back onto the TARDIS, the Doctor had been torn about the decision. On one hand, he really liked Jack and was glad to have the man back. On the other hand, you really liked Jack and Jack really liked you and that meant that the Doctor didn’t get you all to himself anymore, which he didn’t like. Since finding you, he hadn’t really bothered bringing other companions aboard for very long, mostly because he liked it best when it was just the two of you, as it should be. But on the other hand, Jack was sort of a good security measure. The Doctor wasn’t a fool - he had lost companions before and he wasn’t so arrogant as to think that he wasn’t in danger of losing one again. Jack was like extra security for you, which was good. But on the other hand, you were spending more time with just Jack when the Doctor wasn’t around, and that made the Doctor terribly nervous, because Jack was handsome and charming and tempting and romantic and a man and you were- were- well, he was a boy and you were a girl and the Doctor didn’t like what his brain came up with when he wondered what went on when you two were alone together. But on the other hand, Jack was trustworthy and the Doctor knew that you were safe with the captain. But on the other hand, you had very pretty lips, and Jack couldn’t resist a set of pretty lips, and the Doctor couldn’t recall seeing you kiss anyone ever in all your travels, so perhaps you were letting Jack kiss you, just because humans got lonely without kisses. But on the other hand-

Oh, goodness, that was more than enough hands. That was at least six hands and he didn’t have nearly enough, even if he used his feet.

But the point was, in the end, that even though the Doctor knew that you were quite safe with Jack, the Doctor hated leaving you with him, because the Doctor would spend his outings thinking of Jack kissing you and you kissing Jack, and the very idea of it made him feel frantic. So he would do whatever errands he needed to do and then scurry back to the TARDIS as quickly as he could, often entertaining the thought that, maybe, if he asked nicely, you would get your kisses from him instead of Jack. The Doctor was lonely too, after all, and it seemed more than fair to him that if you were both lonely, you could be unlonely together. Jack could and would get his kisses from just about anyone else in the universe. The only person who the Doctor wanted was you. Wouldn’t it be fair for you and the Doctor to be together while Jack had the rest of the universe? Yes, that was perfectly fair.

This, of course, was all very ridiculous, and the Doctor knew it.

He had no proof, or even the barest bit of evidence, that you and Jack were anything other than good friends. And he wasn’t so silly as to think that he could just ask you for a kiss, or that he could woo you like a Gallifreyan might, but it was a beautiful fantasy that he liked to entertain. And it was true that humans got lonely. Your species was meant to be in pairs. There were some of you who didn’t need it or want it for some reason or another, but the majority of human beings were much better off when they were in pairs. Romantic pairs, that is, and devout pairs, not the casual sort. And you didn’t weren’t part of a pair, which meant that you could have all the friends in the world, but that would not stop you from feeling that loneliness. The Doctor empathized, to a degree - Gallifreyans didn’t feel that pressing urge to find a bond-mate until much later in their lives (the second puberty, if you will), so the Doctor had gotten through many of his regenerations with some curiosity towards the idea but no sense of loneliness or hurt in his lack of partner. Then he had hit the age when that changed, and since then, there had been a terrible gap that he wanted someone to fill. That he wanted you to fill, if he could have his pick, but he doubted you would agree. So, knowing what it felt like, to be missing the other half of something so dear and yet not knowing how to find it… the Doctor couldn’t find it within himself to be angry or blame you at all if you were interested in Jack

The Doctor opened the door to the TARDIS, arguing with himself over whether or not to find you immediately or leave you in peace with Jack. As it turned out, there was no answer to that debate, because Jack was sitting in the console room, looking awful, and you were nowhere to be seen.

Jack looked up at the Doctor with an odd expression on his face. The Doctor stared back even as he shut the TARDIS door behind him.

“… Jack…?” the Doctor ventured to say. “What’s the matter with you, eh?”

Jack grimaced. “I screwed up, Doc.”

The Doctor blinked in surprise. Jack wasn’t terribly proud, not compared to many of the Doctor’s other companions, but rarely admitted to failure before he was absolutely sure that he couldn’t fix his mistake or at least give another attempt to do better. 'I screwed up’ were not words to be heard from Jack Harkness’s mouth.

“What happened?” asked the Doctor, dreading the answer.

“It was…” Jack sighed, pinching the bridge of his nose. “I was just trying to get her to admit it to herself, y'know? It’s been hurting her. I can tell. I thought that if she could say it in front of me, maybe she could tell you, and then you’d both stop dancing around it like it’s not there… you two would be so perfect, and you don’t even…”

The Doctor’s nose wrinkled in confusion. “Jack, what are you talkin’ about?”

Jack scoffed. “Both of you are hopelessly oblivious. Doc, she loves you.”

No. No, no, not this. Jack wouldn’t pull such a cruel joke.

“I mean, she really loves you. She is in love with you. She has been for ages. Maybe even before I met you guys. I dunno.”

Stop. Stop, it hurts. Don’t lie. Don’t tease. It hurts.

Then Jack sighed again, heavily, and pursed his lips. “I tried, and I screwed it up. She got upset. Cried. I’ve never made her cry before, Doctor. And what did you do that has her so convinced that you don’t love her, huh?”

I never said anything. Actions speak louder that words, but I never kissed her, either, and I never gave her a flower or shiny thing or a note full of love words. What I’ve done for her, she could logic away to concern and friendship and the protection of a companion. I never said that I love her in straight words or unquestionable actions. How was she to know?

“Where is she?” the Doctor asked when he finally regained his voice.

“Kitchen,” Jack grunted.

You furiously scrubbed away at a pan that you had already scrubbed twice. You were soaked all down the front of your shirt from splashing yourself. There were suds on your face that itched and your fingers were starting to prune, but you didn’t care. You were too upset to care. You usually knew better than to take anything Jack said too seriously, but this time, that was impossible.

“Hey.”

You paused. When had the Doctor gotten back? “Hey, Doctor. I didn’t hear you come in.”

“I love you.”

The pan you were scrubbing slipped from your grip and splashed loudly into the sudsy water in the sink. You turned around so that you could face the Doctor, scrubbing-brush still clenched in your hand.

“I love you,” the Doctor repeated, green eyes large and pleading, "and I… I know that I’ve never said anything about it, or shown you how I care, and I’m sorry. I was… scared. I haven’t, I mean, felt this way, not since… well, Rose, really, but this isn’t about Rose. It’s about you. And me, but mostly you. Or, um, us. Because Jack said, and I- I- I want… I want what he said.“

You swallowed, trying to make your voice come out steady: "And what… did Jack say, that you want?”

“That you love me,” the Doctor whispered, stepping closer to you, “and that we would be perfect.”

“I bet we would be,” you agreed, and the Doctor’s eyes lit up.

“I was thinking the exact same thing!” he exclaimed, and he swept you up for a kiss, soapy clothes and pruned fingers and all.

Essays in Existentialism: Rivals

Clarke and Lexa are rival cheerleading captains with a little too much sexual tension. They both stay in the same hotel with their teams for a competition.

“I want absolutely no fraternization,” the coach said as he placed his hands on his hips and moved up and down the sidewalk in front of the hotel. “There will be no pranking, no fighting, no yelling, no touching, no post cards, no letters, no hugging, no anything, with the opposing team. Am I understood?”
