this is one happy little plant

🌱Green Witch Tips🌱

I get a lot of asks about plants; what dried herbs to start with, what kind are good for beginners, what I would recommend new witches own, how to grow them, etc. That’s totally okay because you guys know I love helping you out but to make things easier I’m just going to talk about plants for a while, okay? Enjoy!

Let’s Start At The Beginning🌿

“What should a beginner witch have in their cabinet?”

I get asked a lot what are some good herbs or dried flowers to have for people who can’t grow their own. Just remember, it’s not necessary to have herbs in your practice, all you need to be a witch is a desire to be a witch! But these are the herbs I recommend and/or are my personal favorites.💜

  • Orange Peel - This is great for uplifting energies and bringing happiness into your life, they can help with intuition, bring prosperity and abundance, and they can help strengthen friendships and relationships. They’re loaded with Vitamin C & A, it’s a powerful antioxidant and great for relieving congestion(add it to your bath!) You can eat them, burn them, make a tea, add it to your bath, whatever you see fit!
  • Basil - This is great for bringing in money and prosperity, love, flying/astral work, exorcisms, and is great for protection. Basil has potent antioxidant, antiviral, and antimicrobial properties. It is also an anti-inflammatory.
  • Mint - Mint is probably one of my favorite healing herbs, it can help bring you strength, luck, money, and safe travels. Mint is an anti-inflammatory and an antiseptic. Ideal for treating indigestion, flatulence, varicose veins, headaches, migraines, skin irritations, rheumatism, toothache, and general fatigue.
  • Chamomile - One of my favorite meditation plants, it also aids in centering and finding peace, protection, self-love and healing! It’s great for fevers, indigestion, it works as an anti-inflammatory for wounds, and makes a good insect repellent.
  • Rosemary: It’s often used for protection, love, purification, healing, sleep, and youth. When burned it emits powerful cleansing and purifying vibrations and is used to rid a place of negativity. It provides anti-inflammation, anti-fungal, antibacterial, and antisepticproperties. And research provides ample evidence that rosemary not only improves memory, but helps fight cancer.
  • Onion: It is used for protection, exorcism, healing, money, and abundance in life. Grown in pots or in the garden they repel negative energy and evil intentions. You can cook onions to attract money and luck. Onions are high in vitamin C, a good source of fiber, and are good for regulating blood pressure.
  • Thyme: It can be used for good health, healing, sleep, courage, love, purification, psychic powers. It can be burned for good health and purification and can be used in healing spells. It can be used to help bronchitis, whooping cough, sore throat, colic, arthritis, upset stomach, stomach pain (gastritis), diarrhea, bedwetting, intestinal gas (flatulence), parasitic worm infections and skin disorders.

Growing Your Own Indoor Plants 🌿

These are what I recommend for beginners(inside) I tried to include a variety of herbs, succulents, and houseplants because I know some people prefer one of the other. This includes generic care tips like storage needed, how much light, water, etc. If you’re looking for magical plant care tips scroll down to the next category! All plants picked are cat and dog friendly.

  • Spider Plants - absorb negativity while improving both the energy and air quality of your home. They’re great for low-key daily cleansing. The pot does not need drainage, moderate sunlight, during growth water once or so a week, at adult(one year) water more frequently, during the summer do not let the soil dry out, keep it moist! Generic garden soil is fine.
  • African Violets - ruled by the planet Venus, promoting spirituality and peaceful vibrations. Their five-petaled flowers are protective and link the plant with the pentagram. Keep them in a warm location where they get plenty of light, and these darling little plants will happily bloom for you all year round. They’re roots are very fragile so over watering can definitely kill them, make sure the soil is completely dry to touch before water. They do best with soils that include peat moss or vermiculite.
  • Succulents - bringers of love and abundance and can be among the easiest of house plants to grow.  Succulents are ruled by the moon. Succulents definitely need plots that have drainage holes, the soil should be a mix of rocks and soil or just buy premade cacti soil! Water two to three times a month depending on size. Full sunlight is best!
  • Swedish or English Ivy -  are protective as well as decorative, and never more so than when trained to grow outside on house walls. Potted and brought indoors, they serve the same function, for their curious stems and leaves drive away evil and negativity from their dwelling place. They are also though to promote fidelity and fertility. Medium light, simple garden soil, they do like moss, ivy’s prefer to be on the dry side when the soil has been dry for 2-3 days then water!
  • Catnip - can bring love into the home, works for cat magic or dieties, helps promote happiness and aids in sleep/astral travel magic. It can be successfully grown on a sunny windowsill, providing you give it enough water and remember to pinch out the flowers to encourage leaf growth. You can start pinching off leaves as soon as the plant hits about 6 - 8 inches.
  • Basil - it can help steady the mind, brings happiness, love, peace, and money and protects against insanity. Keep basil in direct or medium sunlight, keep soil moist, make sure to pick the leaves regularly to encourage growth throughout the summer.
  • Lemon Balm - associated with the moon and neptune, can be used to dispel melancholy and depression, it is traditionally used for compassion, fertility, happiness, healing, longevity, love, mental health, prosperity, and divination. Lemon balm likes a steady supply of water, but good drainage is a must.The plant recovers quickly from wilt, so it’s best to err on the side of dry rather than too wet, which will encourage root rot. Any good, fast-draining potting soil will likely do.
  • Thyme(a personal favorite) - planet venus, it’s good for clairvoyance, cleansing, courage, divination, dreams, exorcism, faeries, happiness, healing, love, money, prevents nightmares, protection, psychic development, aannnddd purification. It’s a pretty useful little plant and it’s super cute if you ask me! Water completely each time but allow the pot to dry before watering again. Fertilize thyme with a weak solution of fish emulsion or liquid seaweed once a month - I swear by it! Trim off flowers and dry them for a sachet or use them in tea, bath, etc!
  • Rosemary -  It’s often used for protection, love, purification, healing, sleep, and youth. When burned it emits powerful cleansing and purifying vibrations and is used to rid a place of negativity. Same grow tips as thyme!
  • Orchid -  it can be used for elegance and beauty, concentration, strengthening memory, love, intuition, harmony, focus, and will power. I personally love having my orchids around during self love magic and glamour spells. It needs ample water but should be allowed to dry out some between watering - make sure to not over water it. Some orchids can be air plants!

Magical Tips For Growing Plants🌿

Just some tips and tricks I’ve learned over the years, some of these may not be super witchy but still definitely helpful for strong plant babies!

  • Sing or talk to your plants daily! Not only will the positive energy they receive help them grow strong, so will the more direct source of Carbon Dioxide. 💕
  • Use rain water or moon water to water your plants! You can really use any kind of water but I advise against sea water unless you boil the salt out first.
    • Bonus! Charge your water with crystals. I like to leave mine out under the moon with moss agate, clear quartz, and rose quartz to encourage growth into a strong, beautiful plant.
  • If you smoke weed, ashes are lovely to give to plants once a week, most ashes work to be honest. You can also use left over tea leaves to compost as well, you can infuse/encourage your plants with energies of the tea!
  • You can also include eggshell powder or water from when you boil eggs in your waterings once a week to help aid it’s growth.
    • I wouldn’t suggest feeding them plant food until their adults though just because it’s really simple to over feed them. But it’s okay to throw some eggshells in the beginning.
  • Sigils! Put sigils on everything, your watering can, the containers your plants are in, on the window they receive their sunlight from! Have fun, gardening is a great time to explore yourself and your craft.
  • Leave your plants under the moon to let the charge. Or when they’re in the sun let that charge them to bring energy and happiness into your home and life.
  • Leave crystals next to your plants or create little spell jar to keep in your garden. I have one of citrine, clear quartz, bay, oak, and a little love letter to Freyr because he’s my patron god and a god of nature.
  • This may sound weird but I swear my little green guys love jivin’ to music, play some and dance around with them, let them be lively and included in your life. We’ve been listening to a lot of Janis Joplin lately.
  • If your plant indoors you don’t have worms!! Oh no! Poke little holes in your soil (after their healthy sprouts) to make sure the soil isn’t compacted.
  • Understand how much space your plants are going to need.  It’s a common mistake for gardeners to get too small of pots. Research the type of roots your plants have - not all grow down some grow wide and need wider more shallow pots.
  • Look for the best place in the house for each plant, and don’t be afraid to try different locations until you find the best spot. Some plants are picky and that’s a-okay!

I hope this is able to help someone with their little green babies. Gardening can bring such joy to ones life, I hope it can for you!🌿

DIY: mini knotted plant hanger

If you’re scrambling for a last-minute gift, or are haunted by endless blank walls and empty spaces, this quick craft is your solution.

Start simply with some rope and a plant of your choosing. I typically go for thinner rope, which makes for daintier hangings.

Cut 4 pieces of rope about 2.5 times what you envision your final product to be.

Fold the ropes in half to create a loop and tie a knot. This will serve as your hanger.

After the top knot is complete, begin your first row of knots by tying two adjacent strings together. Repeat this pattern until each rope is tied to the one next to it.

For your next row, tie knots a couple inches below the row above, using one string from each pair to make a new knot. Be sure that you continue to use adjacent ropes so that the knots continue a circular pattern.

You can pick any amount of knotted rings you’d like. The width that the knots are apart from one another depend on the width of your plant. For example, if your plant is smaller, you may want to make the rows of knots closer together to create a weaved look around your plant.

Finally, tie one knot at the bottom of the plant hanger using all of the strings, similar to how you made the top (just without the loop).

Your final product should be a variation of the plant hanger pictured below

You can utilize different textures and make them in multiples - they sure look good together.

I hope this little demonstration pumps some inspiration into your bloodstream. Happy crafting!

  • lying on a sunflower field with muddy feet and giddy heart, the weather is humid, your eyes are dozing, and you feel the coolness of sunflower leaves and grasses on your back.
  • watching the waves on the ocean dancing in rhythm, its serene sound harmonizing miraculously on your ears and you feel the water kissing your legs
  • waking up on the wrong side of the bed yet seeing your cute dog still sleeping so soundly, solemnity and the smell of lavender candles in your room
  • picking strawberries and trimming bushes on a fine, fine weather while wearing a cute straw hat with an embroidered flower on the right, and a cute yellow dress
  • the collection of happy memories in a cute bottle with sands from all over and seashells, jar painted with mustard yellow and a pink ribbon

  • smelling like paint after working on a nice sheet of canvas, drawing multiple strangers, sketching cute sceneries, and having paint smudges all over your fave shirt because of acrylic.
  • classical music in a coffee shop while waiting for somebody special (may or may not be a friend) smelling like a cup of coffee and embracing the solemnity of the atmosphere
How to do a sigil

Yes hello I am a Alex and this is a thing of how I do a witchcraft. If you do this a certain way feel free to not listen. If you don’t like the way I do it lit, donut do it this way :3 that is all

What is a sigil?

“an inscribed or painted symbol considered to have magical power.” -google
aka a digital or physical painting/drawing/craving/or anything with a design that is given a certain meaning by the person who made it.

What are sigils used for?

The maker draws a doodle (more or less) and charges it with their intent.

Can anybody make one?

Anyone :3

How complicated does it have to be/look like?

It shouldn’t be that hard or pretty, as long as it pleases you it is fine

What materials do you gotta use?

Whatever you got. digital or physical. Paper and pencil/pen/blood/wax/anything - Wood drawing things/knife to carve
Literally a n y t h i n g

Do sigils have to be aesthetically pleasing?

Nope :3 just has to have meaning it you/someone you’re making it for

Do you have to be a witch to use sigils?

No you don’t. It’s up to you and your beliefs

Where can you put sigils?

*cracks knuckles* Shoes, binders, behind phone cases, under tables, under chairs, on your nails with sharpies then put nail polish over it, in your car, in a pillow, draw them on yourself (thighs, stomachs, arms, whatever), clothes tags, out of ketchup on your food, literally anything and everything you can think of

Can I cut out a sigil for a keychain or somethin?

Yes, and you can put them on your alter, hang em in a car, etc

Can you use sigils in spells?

Yes you can, just like tarot cards and oracle cards

Can you have two different sigils for the same thing?

Yes you can (ex.  if you have one for happiness, but want to make another one for happiness, you can draw a different design) (ex. 2- if you see someone make one to ward off depression and want to make one for the same reason, you can make one but with a different design)

How do you “activate” a sigil?

As soon as you draw it, it’s activated. However if you want to give it a little umph, you can bury them, burn them, submerge it in water, etc. If burning you can wafe (is that even a word) an object through the smoke to charge it with your intent

Are sigils used for cursing/hexing too?

Sure can be, up to you and your beliefs/craft

What all can you use sigils for?

Everything. happiness, good luck, help to study, anti*illness*, help your plants grow, help your phone battery last longer, help Kendall to not be a bitch, the list is endless

And finally, how do you a sigil?

  1. Understand what you want the sigil for, I would suggest a simple one at first so I’m going to explain how to do it for happiness
  2. Gather your resources, again I’m doing a easy one so I am going to “use” a pencil and paper
  3. Get in the mindset of the intent you are going for, so this one is happy. Maybe do some stretching before and clear your mind
  4. Now that you’re all razzle dazzled in a happy mood, close you eyes and thing, what shape in happiness to you right in that moment. Do you thing it’s a bunch of lines or even as simple as a heart? Thing about it
  5. Now if you have trouble with step 4 (like I do, ADHD is a lil bitch) play some music that makes you happy or a movie. Does Frozen make you happy? Maybe draw a lil snowflake
  6. Now as fun as it is to draw an elaborate sigil, remember, this can go into your Grimoire or BoS for you to copy onto other things

The most important thing now,

Magic requires consent

Please don’t put “Make Justin love me”

Instead you can put “Attract someone who would love me that has the same traits as Justin”

Stay safe beans and happy sigiling!

(is that a word)

The Domestic Garden Witch: Pocket-Sized Green Thumb

So maybe you’re a college witch with limited space and money, limited to the one window in your dorm. Or, maybe you’re a witch without extensive backyard space who wants to start up a magical garden. Perhaps you’re a kitchen witch who wants the freshest herbs right at her fingertips.

For many witches, having a garden seems to be a bit of a no-brainer. After all, plants and magic go hand-in-hand. Plus, when thinking of a witch, it’s hard not to think of a cottage in the woods with a little vegetable garden out front. Unfortunately for the majority of us, our cottage in the woods is a tiny flat, and our garden out front is a windowsill with limited space.

This is when it comes time to embrace your craftiness and bring your garden indoors! Not only does it place your garden in a convenient location, it also allows you to freshen the air, recycle what would otherwise harm the earth, and embrace your witchy green thumb!

An Excuse to Have More Wine!

Okay, so this is a cute and somewhat family oriented garden. It breaks away from the more meditation-oriented garden from last week, and strays away from the initial intensity of terrariums. But it sticks to the simplicity and ease of care that you would have with any succulents!

With midterms and various other tests plaguing our college witches, there’s sure to be plenty of wine being consumed in order to ease that tension. (Or, if you’re like me, your excuse for having a lot of wine is the fact that you “cook” with it.) Regardless, corks are often seen as nothing more than a tedious obstacle blocking your way to the delicious and happy-inducing fermented grape juice inside the bottle. Well, to most folks, anyway… I’ll leave the significance of corks in wine bottling to one of my kitchen witchery posts. So when all is said and done, many corks end up just being thrown away by the end of the night.

Succulents come in a range of shapes, colors, and sizes, from the massive saguaro to the tiny rock plants. But what makes them so easy to care for is the fact that often they can easily root from clippings and they require very little water in order to survive.

Corks, meanwhile, are great at maintaining low levels of moisture for extended periods of time, providing an ideal potting source for succulents. As such, it only makes sense to bring a bit of green into the home by using the corks as a pot!

You Know the Drill…

All you need (aside from the wine) is a cork, a drill with two bits (a quarter inch bit and a smaller bit for making a leading hole), potting soil, a little bit of aquarium gravel, and some clippings from small succulents.

Using the smaller bit, drill a leading hole into the cork, being careful to avoid drilling all the way through it. Then, use the larger bit to widen the hole so as to turn your cork into a miniature pot. Add a little bit of potting soil, followed by your clipping. Add a little more soil and gently tamp it down to secure the clipping into place, and decorate with a little bit of aquarium gravel. It’s as simple as that!

A common use for these plants is to glue a magnet to the back, allowing the succulents to serve as living refrigerator magnets. For me, I see these adorable little succulents being great gifts or even cute decorations for the small dorm room.

As I’ve mentioned, not much care is needed beyond watering every ten days or so. You can use a dropper to administer the water, or carefully use a small spoon to apply water.

How Can I Witch This?

Succulents vary greatly in their magickal uses. Jade plants are exceptional for inviting wealth into the home, whereas agave is great for attracting sweet and positive energies. Coordinate your plants with what your intent is. The cork itself can be decorated with runes, sigils, symbols, et cetera, or can even be studded with crystals!

If you’re going for the magnet idea, you can take a green spin on the concept of crystal grids, and instead create a succulent grid right there on your refrigerator, using the intent from the plants to attract the energies you want much in the same way as you would arrange crystals!

As mentioned before, these little plants make for great gifts, and therefore can be used as spells for others, as well. Aloe for healing, or jade for prosperity, et cetera.

If you’re trying to practice discreetly, these plants are a great way to do so!

And lastly, you can place crystals in the bottom of the hole you’ve drilled to correspond to the intent of the plant or to encourage health for the plant. This is a great way to practice a little bit of garden witchery in a very small setting!

Play around and get creative with the different ways that you can work with these little succulents to brighten your dorm or window!

May your harvests always be bountiful!

Blessed Be! )O(

pagan holiday guide 2017

hello friends!!! some of you may know me as a pagan (originally wiccan but decided that wasn’t the path for me so now just a pantheistic pagan). there’s lots of pagan holidays so any excuse for a party right?? here are the ones this year and what they’re all about and how to celebrate them!

John buys Sherlock flowers.

It’s on a whim; he walks straight past the florist on the commute home every other day, doesn’t he? Only today the gaudy Easter arrangements and strands of faerie lights are something like a siren song, and he stops in front of the shop and bites his lip and stares at the window, and something in him says that this is a thing he ought to do.

He never bought his girlfriends flowers.  They wilt and die, after all, and there’s all that awkward scrambling for water and a vase to put them in. Always seemed a sad waste of ten quid.  Wine was a far more sound investment for an evening.

Sherlock won’t expect flowers, though, and there’s something about that that makes the idea infinitely more appealing.  There’s no generic flowers-chocolates-wine-jewelry progression with Sherlock.  There are instead ‘here, I saw this book on people who’ve been killed by their exotic pets and thought you’d enjoy it’ gifts and ‘here’s a Lucky Cat because I love making you laugh’ gifts, and he thinks flowers might be just the thing for a ‘here, I think you’re lovely and wanted you to have something lovely’ gift.  It might even be a surprise, and it’s not often John gets the pleasure of surprising the World’s Most Observant Man.

He goes inside and stands there awkwardly, tries to browse casually and feels more awkward still.  Eventually the shop-keep takes pity on him and strolls over and gives what sounds like a prepared sales pitch for straight blokes.  Which is fair enough, John thinks, but he still appreciates how the man’s demeanor loosens up considerably when he tells him he’s looking for something for his partner, emphasis on the not-a-wife-or-girlfriend.

He leaves the shop with a recommendation for a pub he ought to check out, several enthusiastic well-wishes for his and Sherlock’s relationship, and a dramatic bundle of irises wrapped up in soft green paper.

They’re tall, and curly, and vibrantly purple.  They make him smile.

He jogs up the stairs back at 221b to the bellow of Sherlock’s voice telling him he’s late, and that he shouldn’t have bothered stopping for bread on the way home because Mrs. Hudson already brought some.

John wears a small, knowing smirk that grows into a grin that grows into a wide, joyful smile at the sight of Sherlock’s furrowed brow and sudden, surprised silence.  This is good; this is very good.

John clears his throat and ducks his head slightly, holding out the flowers and watching Sherlock as he stands there quietly in his pajamas.  John thinks he can feel his face go red.  He tells Sherlock the flowers are for him.  He tells him he saw them and thought of him.  He tells him lots of things, talks about the supportive shop-keep, makes a few awkward jokes, realizes he’s rambling nervously, and shuts up after a minute.

Sherlock takes the flowers.

He stares at them, blinks a few more times, then shifts into John’s space and leans down and gathers him into a hug with his free arm, dropping his face into the space between John’s neck and his jacket collar.  There are muffled words spoken into his skin, something like ‘thank you, they’re beautiful’ and ‘no-one’s ever.’  John brings his arms around Sherlock’s waist and breathes into the curls at the nape of his neck.  They smell dusty and warm, like an unwashed day spent in the flat.

He feels suddenly nauseous with how much he loves him.  He does.  He’d buy him flowers every damn day if it would make him happy, fill the flat with them; sod his pollen allergy.

He watches a few minutes later as Sherlock clatters through his lab supplies and rifles through the kitchen cupboards before finally holding up an enormous beaker with a triumphant flourish and filling the thing carefully with water and irises and the little packet of plant food that came with them, and John thinks the awkward scrambling for a vase didn’t turn out to be that bad after all.

The Domestic Garden Witch: Making Pets Happy

Gardening for Your Familiar

This past weekend, I went to one of my coven sisters’ place to run a game of Dungeons and Dragons. This in itself isn’t that unusual - I usually play about a game a week, and every other week is held at her place. However, she is definitely a witch who spends plenty of time both in the garden and in the kitchen! A fellow animal lover, with three cats and a couple of dogs, it’s always enjoyable to visit. What surprised me, though was an addition to her home’s normal features: a little garden close to the ground meant for her cats!

Whether a college witch or a witch who’d been practicing for a long time, it’s fair to say that many of us - dare I say that perhaps most of us - have dogs, cats, or some other kind of pet. And while there are plenty of spells out there for familiars and pets, it’s rare that I see spells focusing on gardens for them. So of course, my sister’s garden is featured this week, because it is absolutely brilliant!

A simple project, done in the same way you would any container garden, consider growing plants that your furry friends can safely consume. Where the magic comes in is the intent with which you grow your plants and with which you pot them. The example above makes use of cat grass, catnip, mint (which the kitties love to rub up against), cilantro, and parsley.

But let’s take it a step further, as there are plenty of other animals out there!

Aquatic Gardens: Just like with terrestrial pets and plants, live plants can be added to an aquarium with care. Not only do they breathe new life into your fishes’ home, but they help oxygenate the water and depending on the species of plant and fish in the environment, could provide a food source. Sometimes the plant itself is the pet, as in the case of marimo moss balls!

Terrarium Gardens: In the past, I’ve mentioned bottled gardens and terrarium gardens. Whether reptile or amphibian, plants can help provide a more natural surface for climbing, can provide a food source for herbivorous friends, and - as before - help bring more life to the terrarium!

Formicarium Gardens?: Admittedly, not everyone has a colony of ants as a domestic pet. But as with any animal, ants require care and maintenance, and a proper formicarium usually has a larger area for foraging. Though the ants will be healthy with a steady supply of feeder insects and sugars, adding plants will not only make the “outworld” a more aesthetically pleasing environment, but a more diverse one for the colony as well. In addition, ants have been known to tend to plants, harvesting sap and nectars while also keeping the plant nourished and maintained. Take it a step further by adding pitcher plants - a plant that could easily be a pet itself - which not only help control the colony population, but also promote a mutual relationship with ants (the plant offers nectar to the ants from its inactive pitchers, and while it does “eat” ants, the ants will still take care of the pitcher for the sake of the nectar).

Bringing it Outside: Some of us count horses and other outdoor animals as pets. The same principle applies - set aside a box garden specifically to help nourish your friends and bring some joy to the stable. Similarly, if you don’t have any pets, you could set up a garden to encourage wildlife. It’s not uncommon to see beautiful flower gardens for hummingbirds, fruit trees and berry bushes to encourage wild birds to visit, and gardens set off to the side specifically for deer.

What This Brings to a Witch

Part of being a witch or of being pagan is nurturing a relationship with nature. There are many ways of doing this, from adopting an organic lifestyle to assisting in conservation efforts, to even learning how to forage and to recognize various plants. But it goes without saying that pets, plants, and animals can all do much to help us learn about our role in the world. They teach us how to be ourselves, how to live in the moment. Even the ants in a formicarium can teach us about how to naturally be efficient and productive.

This in itself is magical. It’s a natural spell that is meant to enliven the spirit and while it does do quite a bit to make the animals in our lives happy and healthy (even more so when planted and grown with intent), it also turns around and gives us the very same blessing.

Grow your garden, and tend to it and your animal friends with love, and they will teach you far more than you may realize!

May all your harvests be bountiful! )O(

I made some moon water to use on the lil succulents I’m currently propagating. I’m also using moss agate to help these little cuties grow, as moss agate is one of the best stone to increase plant growth. It’s also used to attract prosperity and abundance and is associated with nature spirits bringing earth energy into its healing!

Pidge’s Garden

Building off an idea from my Allura + Earth post

  • When Pidge comes home from space, she declares that she wants her own garden.
  • (Matt laughs at this because Pidge?? outdoors??? until he realizes she’s dead serious. Shiro doesn’t laugh because he values his life.)
  • So while Mrs. Holt figures out how she’s gonna get her family and Shiro treated for space-related PTSD (does she call NASA, or???), Pidge starts clearing out the yard.
  • Shiro and Matt and Commander Holt end up helping because being rooted to the earth is good for their trauma.
  • Then Pidge runs out and buys a bunch of plant books and does crap loads of plant research for weeks until she’s FINALLY ready.
  • She buys seeds. She plants them.
  • She stays outside watching them for days until buff!Matt picks her up and carries her off. “You’re gonna get sunburned, Katie.”
  • “Patience yields focus,” Shiro says. Pidge tells him to shut the quiznak up.
  • AND THEN ONE MORNING PIDGE GOES OUTSIDE AND THERE ARE SPROUTS
  • SHE RUBS HER EYES A FEW TIMES, THEN RUNS HOLLERING INTO THE HOUSE
  • (There is a confused moment where everyone thinks it’s aliens and Mrs. Holt fears for their collective sanity)
  • AND SHE DRAGS MATT AND SHIRO OUTSIDE AND POINTS TO HER LITTLE SPROUTS, AND SHE’S SO HAPPY SHE’S CRYING. THEY LIVE!
  • From that point on she becomes Gardener Extraordinaire
  • feeding her plants the good soil, watering them, shielding them from excess rain and heat
  • She even makes a little water feeder for bees
  • Before long, the Holt + Shiro family residence is surrounded by flowers
  • There are flowers in window planters and in vases and pressed in books
  • There are fresh vegetables and fresh herbs and fresh tea
  • And the nightmares of darkness and imprisonment and torture and war are slowly replaced by dreams of beautiful gardens

Requested: Hey love!! How are you? Can i ask you one thing? Alright… I hope you can make an imagine where reader and shawn are all goofy, sassy, bitchy and all those playful relationship. i hope you can make imagine just based on how playful their relationship is. thank you very much.

Note: I thought a lot about how I wanted to write this concept and I finally settled with writing four completely unrelated scenarios or moments to illustrate the type of relationship requested.

Your name: submit What is this?

~~~
“Babe, I love you and that song, but shut up.” You tell Shawn partially joking, but also partially serious because Shawn has been singing the same two lines of Barcelona by Ed Sheeran practically non stop for the past twenty minutes and you’re getting to the point where you really can’t take it any longer.
“In Baaaaaarcelona!!!” Shawn sings very high pitched for a reason you don’t understand obviously ignoring your demand for him to stop. You barely even look up from your phone. Instead, you just reach out your hand and place it over his mouth. But you feel his teeth graze your palm and then he moves and bites down lightly on your fingers.
“Ow!” You say, retracting your hand and pretending it hurt a lot more than it actually did.
“Don’t even lie, y/n, you like when I bite you,” Shawn says, and your eyes widen and you immediately look around to see if anyone heard Shawn’s comment because he didn’t even bother to say it quietly and his band is all in the dressing room with you. Luckily, they’re all busy doing their own thing so no one seems to have heard Shawn’s comment.
i just love the idea of gardening!derek. it started out bc he needed to know about aconite and healing herbs but now all he wants to do is grow gorgeous sprawling gardens. he finds it soothing and rewarding to tend his plants and watch them grow. :)
This is a perfect headcanon, I am so completely on board with this concept.
I’ve always been in love with the idea of baking!Derek or woodworking!Derek because he just seems like the kind of person who would be so soothed by that kind of activity. Like working out (which Derek has been shown to use as a coping mechanism) these are straightforward physical tasks requiring little mental effort, which is honestly just so great for pushing through certain forms of depression.
And gardening is another hobby that fits right into that. It’s the kind of quiet and straightforward activity that you can see a positive result from, but it’s also low pressure: if you bake some bread and it doesn’t rise right, if a particular flower dies or weeds creep in… it’s not the end of the world. It’s a place Derek can screw up without worry about lives on the line, but it’s also something that can produce something positive and beautiful that he can be proud of, that he can look out into his yard and feel this bright, warm feeling blossom inside him over. That he did something good, he made that. And maybe it’s a silly thing, small and insignificant in the grand scheme, but it makes him happy. Makes him feel like he’s getting a little bit of control back in his world.
And now I imagine Stiles being the one to get him started on it. Just showing up at the loft one day with a simple little spider plant dangling awkwardly in one hand, saying it’s a housewarming or whatever, the place looks too empty and hey, no big deal if you kill it ‘cause I got it for like five bucks and Derek aims a sarcastic smirk at the implication but when Stiles leaves the plant is sitting at the corner of his table. And Derek ignores it determinedly for a day or so on principle before he ends up pouring a little water out of the glass he’s drinking from into it because why not, right? It’s not like it’s actually a hassle to water the thing once a day. Just as easy to keep it alive as not.
Except, Derek wonders a few days later, squinting to see if the thing seems a little yellow at the tips, is he supposed to water a plant like this every day? Is he drowning it? Is it getting enough sunlight, or… whatever else plants need? Which is how Derek finds himself at the local gardening store, fists stuffed into the pockets of his his black leather jacket, asking the startled looking salesman a series of clipped questions on how to care for spider plants.
It’s a couple months before Stiles shows up with another plant (because the first one seems lonely) and then before he knows it, Derek’s racking up a collection. The long table in front of his window becomes a veritable flower bed, out of place but strangely homey at the heart of the sparse loft.
Derek doesn’t actually buy any of his own plants until he moves, over to a little cottage on the outskirts of town. It edges the preserve, not the way the Hale house had but close, and the small space is comfortable and pleasant in a place the echoed warzone of the loft never could be. It lets him patrol for trouble more easily, he tells the pack… and then once they’re gone, in the quiet where only the plants can hear him, admits that he likes it there.
But the yard is sparse, even when he transfers the majority of the plants (the ones that would survive outside, anyway) to the garden, so a few days after he’s moved in he finds himself back from the gardening store, car bed packed with shovels and trowels, ferns and groundcover, and a few carefully chosen bright flowers.
He finds himself out there often. When he’s stressed or the loneliness twists too deep in his gut, when harsh memories push him too close to dark dreams. There’s always something to do: weeding, watering, trimming, landscaping. It’s soothing, somehow, watching the yard develop. Feeling the odd burst of pride when a bud blooms, or when the little edging wall he’d made from scavenged rocks in the preserve comes out just barely lopsided. When it starts to look like a home.
And when Stiles appears at the edge of his yard, a half-hour early for a pack meeting, to find Derek on his knees in the dirt, carefully coaxing a bunny-bitten geranium upright in the earth.
“See Spiderplant’s doing ok.”
Derek glances up, follows Stiles’ gaze out to the cluster of grasslike plants lining the flowerbed leading into the preserve.
“That’s the runners. The original’s…” on my nightstand, he doesn’t say. It feels like that might say too much. He lets the words hang, goes back to carefully patting dirt down. Stiles is quiet for a few beats, though Derek can hear him moving around the edges of the garden, taking it in. No one’s been back here before, and a part of Derek tightens up at the intrusion. Like Stiles –– clever mind and quick tongue –– might see something in this space to take away the haven Derek’s made here.
But when he finally pushes himself up, brushing dirt from his knees with dirty palms, Stiles is watching him with eyes that remind him of how he looks at the garden.
“It looks good,” Stiles says, and he’s not looking at the flowers.
Derek doesn’t look away for a long moment and then glances down, a faint smile playing over his lips.
“It looks good,” he echoes, because it does. And he’d made that. Something that isn’t broken. And maybe that means he isn’t broken too.
Remember the Promise, Carl Grimes.
A/N: I made another one! I hope you guys like it as much as you have the last ones!
Summary: The reader and Carl are in a “no strings attached” kind of relationship that is as complicated as can be. Due to the disapproval of the reader’s mother they’ve been sneaking around for quite some time. Despite efforts to stop it, they both feel it turning into something more.
Damian & Batmom
Requested by an anon
Summary: HCs of how Damian is protective of Batmom/the general dynamic of the relationship.
Warning(s): None
-Just like with everyone else, he doesn’t admit to liking you for a long time.
-If you’re allergic to cats or animals in general, at first it really irritates him and puts a strain on your tries to bond with him.
-Then he begins to realize you still let him bring animals home and don’t complain about them… One day he brings it up to Bruce and Bruce tells him flat out, “They know (animals/cats) make you happy.”
-He becomes a little less annoyed with you then and even tries to make sure that the animal you’re allergic to stays away from where you frequent. When only one or two people are home, it’s said that even the vacuum cleaner can be heard running in his room.
-Damian likes to garden as well, if you two can bond over that it would be increasingly helpful. Gardening silently next to each other, only talking to make remarks about the plants or simple questions.
-He finds the calm and peacefulness of the gardening relaxing, spending it with you eases his inhibitions he had about you, and seeing him care so tenderly to plants reminds you that he has the capacity to care and be tender, it simply needs to be nurtured, like a plant.
-I like to stick with the headcannon that he calls Bruce’s s/o “ummi”. But he only saves it for certain occasions.
-”I didn’t ask if you are able to. I said you’re not, Damian. No means no.”
-”But… Ummi…” He mumbles, mimicking a hurt puppy in his voice.
-It’s out of character even for the adolescent, but, maybe that’s what makes you give in to it so often. Though you definitely make him give you an affectionate hug after he calls you that, reiterating just how much you appreciate/like him calling you that, just making sure he knows how much it means to you.
-Should any villain bring your name up - your real name or code name - he swings without question, it’s caught Bruce’s attention quite a few times, especially because then they can’t figure out what the rogue was going to say about you.
-He gets slightly jealous when one of the other kids demands your attention(like Dick wants you to come stay with him in Bludhaven because he’s sick.)
-His jealousy towards you comes out in attitude, mixed with thinking of reasons why you can’t go/do something with the other child.
-He even gets that way towards Bruce. If Bruce heads towards you for a hug Damian will slyly get in between you beforehand and start talking. After a while you start catching on though and gladly swoop in to give Damian a bear hug(bonus points if you motion for Bruce to join the hug.)
-He’s just really possessive. Even more so when he’s sick.
-When he’s sick, it’s a whole different story. You’re constantly called “ummi” and he’ll blatantly ask you to hold him or watch a movie with him.
-”Ummi. Put in that brainless movie about the lost fish. Or the girl with the ridiculous hair.”
-”No! Ummi… watch it with me.”
-He turns into the biggest bundle of cuteness when he’s sick and you don’t let a moment pass up where you can baby your baby.
-Though that usually means you’re next on the sick hit list.
-On rare occasions he’ll come up with a poor excuse just to get to accompany you on your errands.
-”I’d like to see how poor that bank’s security really is. Hatter’s broken into it three times already. I’ll come with you.”
-Though really it’s because he just likes to do things with you, you’re not overly pushy as his other relatives, or as annoying as Drake. That and then he can jump into action quicker should anything life threatening happen.
-Soon after he came back to life, he said he loved you. Flat out, plain as ever, with just a hint of brokenness in his voice. After everything that had happened, hearing that come from Damian you started crying, and so did he.
-From that point on, he made sure he told you it often. Even if it was in confidence it meant the world to you.
