this is not what i should be doing at all

Quick Question about today’s video...

I posted a 6 second challenge video with Cody Johns. And a lot of you are upset, very upset that I didn’t say or mention in the description box that AmazingPhil was the creator of the original 7 second challenge. And I’m slightly confused. (I’ve since credited Phil, do not fear!) I respect giving credit where credit is due. Of course!

I do A LOT of challenges on my channel. Some challenges I’ve created (that others have used without crediting me and it doesn’t upset me) and others that are variations of challenges that already exist. Should each challenge be credited with the challenge creator? This is a honest question. Do we all have to credit the creator of the girlfriend/boyfriend tags? Blindfolded makeup challenges? If so, who started those? And then how far do we go with what to credit? Should I start crediting the creator of hauls when I do a haul video? I didn’t come up with the idea of “haul videos”, someone else did, therefore they deserve credit like Phil, yes? Let me know your thoughts, I’m honestly really curious about this. What do you think?

Exo reaction when they go shopping for the baby with you

Sehun: Y/N:Hey Hun what do you think of this bodysuit, isn’t it cute?

Kai: I liked the purple one better than the one that you bought.

Tao: We were supposed to buy clothes together but you are not letting me choose anything.I wanna buy  that cute dress that I saw

Kyungsoo: Y/N:Should I pick the green one or the red one? in which one do you think he would look better

Juts choose one he is 1 month old he won’t care if he is wearing red or green

Chanyeol: Ah my heart, I can’t take all of the cuteness. They all look so cute for me

Chen: NO  I don’t think so, nope. There is no way in hell I will dress my baby with something like that. Put it down now

Baekhyun: Why are you buying everything in two, do I have a surprise coming on my way from that belly of yours?

Lay: Don’t you think that we should wait until the baby is born to actually buy clothes?

Suho: I love how excited you are and how dedicated you are to this but do you think that we can go home now? those 5 min that you promised me turned into 4 hours

Kris: What in the name of god is that and for what could a baby use it?

Luhan: Why are you buying only pink clothes? what if it’s a boy. Why are so sure that it’s gonna be a girl.Buy something blue also

Xiumin: Since you like this much to buy clothes for the baby how about when this one is born we should try for another one?

At least once a week I get asked some version of this question:

Hey Lady Kay, I’m in high school and I really really really really want to be a doctor. What do I do right now to give myself the best chance of getting into med school

Over the years writing on this blog I think I’ve answered this question a handful of times, but I thought it would be best if I just sat down and wrote a long official post for you all.

So here I give you my top 10 tips for what you should be doing in high school to start on the journey to medicine.

1) Explore broadly

Right now you’re all set on being a doctor. That’s great! But it’s incredibly important that you don’t become so focused on one path for your life that you forget to experience several things! You never know what you’re going to find interesting. Maybe you develop a passion for soccer or dance. Maybe you learn that you love teaching. Sure, spend some of your time reading about medicine or volunteering, but don’t become so focused you quit everything else.

2) Learn how to learn

There’s nothing more important you can do right now than figuring out your study style. Are you a visual learner who has to read information or are you a verbal learner who needs to listen to lectures more than once to remember things? Whatever your study style, make sure you work on figuring it out now so you can be ready to hit the ground running in college.

3) Challenge yourself

You’re not sure if you should go ahead and take AP Biology, or take that physics class even though math wasn’t your strongest subject – DO IT! High school is a really great place to try and push yourself. The best way to become stronger is to work a little harder than you’re comfortable with – the same thing holds in academics, the only way to become a stronger student is to maybe take a class that you’re not sure you’ll get an A in.

4) Focus on experiences that increase your empathy and world experience

You want to be a doctor, the first thing you have to learn is how to look at the people around you as fellow human beings. So far you’ve seen a very small corner of the world. You’re never too young to learn a little more. So whether it’s saying yes to the school trip to Europe or saying yes to just going around the corner to volunteer at a homeless shelter, get out of your comfort zone and see some of that big world out there

5) Have fun

Sure, right now you think high school is really hard. And, it probably is the hardest thing you’ve done so far. But don’t get so focused on the academics that you forget to do things you enjoy! Go see that move with your friends or join the club you think you don’t have time for. Write a novel, learn photography, play piano – whatever you’ve always wanted to do, DO IT! If you learn how to make time for fun things in your life now, you’ll have better balance for the rest of your life.

6) Read, everything.

Actually read the books they assign you in English class. Some of them will be awful, but a lot of them will be really good. More importantly, read whatever interests you. Read the books about your favorite hobby. Read whatever’s in the new and recommended section at the library. Read the books they’ve banned at your school library. Read everything. Read the books on your bookshelf, then borrow from friends and the library. Read the books on your parent’s bookshelf. Read it all. Voraceously.

7) Learn about playing as a team

If you’re looking at medicine as the goal, it’s incredibly important to know how to be a good team member. All of medicine runs in teams now. So play basketball or sing in the choir so you can learn how to lead (and how to follow!).

8) Get organized

Do it now, it will save your life. It’ll be harder to form the habit later.

9)  It’s never too early to volunteer

You’ve got the time! If you want to learn about medicine, start learning about service. You don’t have to be working at the local hospital for it to be relevant. Start tutoring kids at a local elementary school or walking dogs for the animal shelter down the street.

10) Be 16 (or 17 or 15).

Take chances. Kiss the boy or girl you’ve wanted to. Sing. Laugh. Make friends. Lose friends. Fall down. Stand up. Cut your hair. Write good poems. Write bad poems. Turn the music up. Dance. Make mistakes.

I don't think it's a coincidence they met Louis, but don't think the girls knew how staged the night would be tbh. I've read a post saying that a promoter tweeted one of them and told them where to find Liam and Louis. They went there, met Louis and he did his job, allowed them to have a photoshoot, because he or 1DHQ wanted us to see where he was and what he was doing. The girl on Twitter probably lied about 90% of the night, we know how these things work.

The fact that he was supposedly the one who said they should take pics combined with one of the girls being the one to leak the very staged FOUR vines and no pics of Liam who was there as well makes this all transparent as usual. These pics are boring though. If they want to get attention, then post vines of Lilo’s clubbing moves. That’s what I want to see.

Do I have to get a masters in linguistics to create my own language

Just sit down and do it. Start small and build it up. If you’re just starting out, you’ll make mistakes (e.g. if you don’t know precisely what you’re doing, you’ll do things that later on you may regret), but it’s a marathon, not a sprint. Plenty of time to learn, plenty of resources to learn from. If you hang on for 30 days, I’ll have a book out that gives you a crash course in the basics of creating a language called The Art of Language Invention. I think it’s pretty all right; pretty accessible. But yeah, I should hope you don’t need a master’s in linguistics to create a language, otherwise I have no idea what the heck I was doing before I got my master’s!

Official post from Mike Laidlaw on the upcoming Inquisition patch and “Trespasser” DLC.

“Hey, folks!

I’m writing this a little in advance of PAX Prime so that it can be put up right after our panel on Saturday. Hopefully everything went well, and you’ve heard all about the upcoming content that will conclude our adventures together in Dragon Age: Inquisition.

Before I go into detail, let me just say thank you. This game has been a crazy ride, from the moment we decided to completely rebuild DA on the Frostbite engine to today, when so many of you have stunned us with your amazing fan creations, passion and, of course, feedback on what we did right and where we can improve should we do another. Thank you on all counts!

Coming up, our newest patch targeting the Xbox One, PS4 and PC platforms includes a couple of treats in addition to the usual fixes…”

giriboy’s album is nice!!!

it’s kind of depressing??? in general and it talks about a girl like throughout the album i think that’s what he’s doing not about dating and fluffy kinds of stuff. but after they broke up and things

quick overall translations of all songs!!:

1. that should be easy is saying that forgetting that someone should be easy because there are so many other things that he has to do that are harder than that and he keeps saying don’t feel bad for me and those things :/

2. 2000/90 i’m not sure what he’s talking about but he finally cleaned his room that he wouldn’t clean in skit after breaking up with someone and he says that he feels good alone but at the end he says that he messes up the room again and invites all his friends because he’s scared of being alone and keeps saying that he will leave that place and at the end he says help me

3. we got married (feat. fromme) is about not wanting to marry the person even though they have been dating for a while the pre-hook?? part goes like hate me~ i can’t bear with it any more and i was waiting for you to tell me that you want to break up with me it’s sad but the song is so nice!!!! the hook goes like you probably have guessed it, we can’t go far as to marrying

4. 4AM this is so universal i love it we don’t even need translation

Hi, I'm a Christian and on occasion I feel some dysphoria, but I always feel guilty when I feel it, because I know that God made my body and it's perfect in his eyes, so how can I criticise it or hate it? I don't know how I should feel.

No where in the Bible does it say that our bodies are perfect. We are told that our bodies are temples of God and that we were wonderfully made by God; knit together by Him in our mothers’ wombs. We are beautiful and flawed, but definitely not perfect. There is a huge difference between beauty and perfection.

Think of it this way: no one is completely happy with their body. There are people (like me!!!!) who are super short and on the heavy side who don’t like what they look like at all, but can’t really do much to change it. I know dysphoria isn’t exactly the same thing, but I feel like the two are very closely related.

I also feel that one of the reasons for this being so common is that we aren’t supposed to feel at home in our human bodies. We are the souls that reside within them. Our human bodies are temporary. We are supposed to long for our heavenly bodies. God gave us our bodies so we could live on earth to do His will while here on earth. We are fearfully and wonderfully made, but it’s also normal to long for our heavenly bodies.

2 Corinthians 5: 1-10 describes this pretty well:

For we know that when this earthly tent we live in is taken down (that is, when we die and leave this earthly body), we will have a house in heaven, an eternal body made for us by God himself and not by human hands. We grow weary in our present bodies, and we long to put on our heavenly bodies like new clothing. For we will put on heavenly bodies; we will not be spirits without bodies. While we live in these earthly bodies, we groan and sigh, but it’s not that we want to die and get rid of these bodies that clothe us. Rather, we want to put on our new bodies so that these dying bodies will be swallowed up by life. God himself has prepared us for this, and as a guarantee he has given us his Holy Spirit. So we are always confident, even though we know that as long as we live in these bodies we are not at home with the Lord. For we live by believing and not by seeing. Yes, we are fully confident, and we would rather be away from these earthly bodies, for then we will be at home with the Lord. So whether we are here in this body or away from this body, our goal is to please him. For we must all stand before Christ to be judged. We will each receive whatever we deserve for the good or evil we have done in this earthly body.

Just remember that even in God’s eyes, your body isn’t what matters. It is temporary. What matters is what’s inside. What you feel. What you think. What you do for Him. He looks at your heart.

1 Samuel 16:7

The Lord doesn’t see things the way you see them. People judge by outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart.

Just know that you don’t have to feel perfect. It’s human nature to not be perfect. Perfect is God’s domain, not ours. We are beautiful, wonderful, and loved. Whenever you feel dysphoria, instead of feeling guilty, find comfort knowing that you’re really just longing for your true, heavenly body that awaits you.

I hope that can be of some comfort to you. I really hope that helps even a little.

guys. I’m taking a class at my university that’s all about the studio ghibli films and it starts tomorrow!! I dunno exactly what we’ll be doing but I imagine it’ll be something like watching the movies and then discussing/analyzing the themes/symbols/filming techniques and whatnot.

ok I just wanted to get that off my chest since I’m so excited and I want the day to be over so that the class will finally start. hope you all have a nice day!!

Have you read every single Batman issue? This is a real question, I'm in awe. Also, what do you think about the new Batman run? Should I start reading that - or do you have recommendations from old Batman arcs? -- I don't know about new 52 or DC all that much but it's just feels easier to start with the current run because they just look better? Some drawings from the old issues are really hard to look at. :D

Nooooo, I have not. I also haven’t read every Dick Grayson comic, though it’s mostly the 1940′s to 70′s that I skimp on. There’s just a loooot of comics out there, and it’s a pretty expensive habit over time.

I feel like my Titan knowledge is better than my overall Batman knowledge, but in answer to your question: I don’t keep up with the New 52, and I never recommend it because I personally don’t enjoy the new continuity. To be quite honest, the vast majority of people that I talk to prefer Pre-52 comics, even if they were introduced to comics through the New 52. If you want, you can start with the current Batman run, but every single New 52 relationship is fragmented, and it doesn’t have the same quality that you’ll find in Pre-52.

With that said, not all the art is ‘bad’ in Pre-52; I mean, you don’t have to jump back to the 1980′s just to enjoy Batman comics. There is plenty of content, from Hush, to No Man’s Land to Fugitive, to Damian’s appearance, etc to satisfy you without going that far back. For example, this art is from Hush in 2003.

You also might be interested in the Dick-Batman era, which I think had a solid couple years of art and storytelling.

(Batman #704)

In Pre-52 comics, you can also read about Dick and Babs actually having a relationship; this art was from 2005.

(Birds of Prey Vol 1 #86)

And this art was from 1999.

(Birds of Prey Vol 1 #8)

Dick and Tim actually being brothers?

(Nightwing Vol 2 #139)

So good art isn’t exclusive to the New 52 by any means, and there’s still thousands of comics from the year 2000 to 2011 to read. Even if you start reading Pre-52 stuff, it’s unlikely you’ll ever run out of stuff (I mean, I still haven’t run out of stuff and I’ve been reading comics for almost a decade). If the New 52 was selling quality stories, I’d recommend those stories, but honestly, the New 52 is a giant marketing scheme capitalizing on famous characters while leaving almost every other character behind in the dust. It’s the most inauthentic storytelling you’ll ever find in this industry, with a few exceptions, like DC’s Earth-2 which is actually pretty bad ass. Otherwise, though, I personally think it’s a waste of your money.

My personal recommendations, especially if you’re new to comics, is [The Batman Files]. Here’s a general overview for [Dick Grayson comics]. Here’s a more specific reading list for the [DickBat era]. If you’re interested in the more mainstream Batman comics, you can look up recommendations online, and the most well-known and popular will pop up pretty quickly. Usually it’s comics like Hush, Murderer/Fugitive, No Man’s Land, Batman and Son, Batman: Year One, etc. The Black Mirror has also become a very well-known graphic novel despite being Dick Grayson instead of Bruce. Then you might want to branch off and read Cassandra Cain’s comics. Maybe Steph Brown as Batgirl? Tim’s Robin run? His Red Robin run? Maybe Red Hood: Lost Days if you’re a Jason Todd fan. Overall, the Pre-52 has a lot of content to sift through, the characters are more consistent, and the stories are more in depth imho.

  • Me:Slytherin should have won the House Cup in the Philosopher's Stone
  • Family:No. They would have lost so many points if they had known what Malfoy was doing, he was breaking so many rules-
  • Me:Slytherin is not Malfoy
  • Me:And Gryffindor is not Harry Potter
  • Me:Dumbledore denied an entire house the prize they were working toward all year--after they thought they had won it, mind you--because he gave Harry, Ron, Hermione, and Neville points for breaking more rules than Malfoy did
  • Me:I understand that they saved the world
  • Me:But a school should not reward children (in a competition geared toward motivating them in their education) for putting themselves in danger, no matter what the result.
  • Family:Yeah but they knew what they were--

reflexings asked:

how can i feel good about myself? i hate everything about me and i feel so pressured every single day to put a smile on my face, but i hate it. i don't like anything about myself, and all i want is to feel confident and content with who i am but i don't know how and its killing me

i struggle with this a lot, too. anxiety and depression are not PART of us. they are a plague with which those of us who suffer need to fight every day. no one knows what they are doing, if they are doing it right, if any of it matters. you should just figure out how you want to make your time count & jump in, feet first. self-awareness is the mark of an evolved individual as far as i’m concerned. you can do this. i believe in you. I BELIEVE IN YOU.

life is long and full of surprises

i always knew what i wanted to be when i grew up. when i was in 9th grade, i wrote a report for school about being a lawyer. i went to the county courthouse and shadowed an assistant DA. i helped arraign people with DUI charges, even advising them on what pleas they should accept. i finished college early and started working at legal aid in chicago while i applied to law schools. it was a calling. it was a vocation. it was what i was going to do for the rest of my life.

all during law school - which was horrible, which was awful, which was everything bad that everyone said it would be and much much more - i ran welfare clinics, i volunteered, i interned at public interest law firms, i fought to find any relevant courses i could take. i knew what i wanted to be. i knew what i was going to do for the rest of my life.

after law school, i busted my ass to get a fellowship so i could get a public interest law job when there was no money to hire public interest lawyers. i created my own project area. i networked. i developed an area of personal expertise. i prepared to do this for the rest of my life.

and then - cracks. i fought for years to make my job more like something that i could live with, something where i wasn’t compromising my personal health and my personal life in serious and dangerous and really scary ways. i spent three years trying to find another job in the field where i could do what i wanted to do, what i was going to do for the rest of my life. and it didn’t work. and none of it worked.

and so, five years ago, after devoting years of work, three years of law school, more student loans than i care to think about, and literal blood and tears, i left. it wasn’t what i was going to do for the rest of my life.

i floundered around a bit, went in some wrong directions, but i’ve found a new thing i can do for the rest of my life - or for as long as it works for me. i don’t have to figure out the whole rest of my career now. i can trust myself to adjust and adapt. i can know that sacrificing over 100 hours a week to work and incurring significant mental health problems due to stress and trauma of work isn’t necessary.

i knew what i wanted to do with my life. i was wrong. and it’s fine.

Help, my boo is like absolutely perfect in every way and I’m totally head over heels for him, EXCEPT this morning he was talking to me about Nicki at the VMAs last night and he was talking about how she needs to chill out instead of attacking everyone (NOBODY INSULTS QUEEN NICKI IN MY PRESENCE) and then he somehow got on the conversation of how “nice guys” are a thing and I’m dying inside. I don’t think we’re getting anywhere debating either subject. What do I dooooo?? :(

(HEY, so I decided to answer this publicly but still respect the privacy of this person.)

What should you do? First of all, you’re not his teacher, you’re his girlfriend. It’s 2015 and you don’t deserve some guy who thinks Nicki is wrong for calling out racism or someone who is wrong headed enough to believe in the friendzone. I’m telling you right now you can do WAY better.

You shouldn’t have to hold someone’s hand through basic things like this. You said he is perfect in every way, but the ways he isn’t perfect are staggering.

With the Homecoming game coming up...

It’s hard for me, and I’m sure others, to forget how the football received the nickname, “pigskin.” A quick Google search will get you up to speed if you have no clue what I’m talking about. And, you should all totally join me in donating to a pig rescue organization! If not for me, you should do it to clear your guilty conscience. Think of all the little piggies you are saving!
