this is my favorite quote in the whole world

“Does this darkness have a name? This cruelty this hatred. How did it find us, did it steal into our lives or did we seek it out and embrace it? What happened to us that we now send our children into the world like we send young men to war, hoping for their safe return but knowing some will be lost along the way. When did we lose our way? Consumed by the shadows swallowed whole by the darkness. Does this darkness have a name… is it your name?”

we were like gods at the dawning of the world

Actually, there is a word for that. It’s love. I’m in love with her, okay? If you’re looking for the word that means caring for someone beyond all rationality and wanting them to have everything they want no matter how much it destroys you, its love! And when you love someone y-you just don’t stop. Ever. Even when people roll their eyes or call you crazy. Even then. Especially then. You just- you don’t give up because if I could give up… If I could just, you know, take the whole world’s advice and- and move on and find someone else, that wouldn’t be love. That would be… That would be some other disposable thing that is not worth fighting for. But that is not what this is.

Option D: Favorite Quote

“Now is the time for you to take the center stage. The whole world is waiting for you. Don’t forget what it is you want. Now is the time to take off. Fulfill your dream. Only you can make it a reality. Live your life. Dance your dream. Sing, sing… sing your own song. Do to the fullest, play to the fullest, and discover. Find your path, and go above and beyond it! Live your own life. Now is your beginning. This is your time.”

When my husband died, because he was so famous & known for not being a believer, many people would come up to me — it still sometimes happens — & ask me if Carl changed at the end & converted to a belief in an afterlife. They also frequently ask me if I think I will see him again. Carl faced his death with unflagging courage & never sought refuge in illusions. The tragedy was that we knew we would never see each other again. I don’t ever expect to be reunited with Carl. But, the great thing is that when we were together, for nearly twenty years, we lived with a vivid appreciation of how brief & precious life is. We never trivialized the meaning of death by pretending it was anything other than a final parting. Every single moment that we were alive & we were together was miraculous — not miraculous in the sense of inexplicable or supernatural. We knew we were beneficiaries of chance… That pure chance could be so generous & so kind… That we could find each other, as Carl wrote so beautifully in Cosmos, you know, in the vastness of space & the immensity of time… That we could be together for twenty years. That is something which sustains me & it’s much more meaningful…

The way he treated me & the way I treated him, the way we took care of each other & our family, while he lived. That is so much more important than the idea I will see him someday. I don’t think I’ll ever see Carl again. But I saw him. We saw each other. We found each other in the cosmos, and that was wonderful.

—  Ann Druyan on her husband, Carl Sagan.

The LEGO Movie was my favorite movie of 2014, but it strikes me that the main character was male, because I feel like in our current culture, he HAD to be. The whole point of Emmett is that he’s the most boring average person in the world. It’s impossible to imagine a female character playing that role, because according to our pop culture, if she’s female she’s already SOMEthing, because she’s not male. The baseline is male. The average person is male.

You can see this all over but it’s weirdly prevalent in children’s entertainment. Why are almost all of the muppets dudes, except for Miss Piggy, who’s a parody of femininity? Why do all of the Despicable Me minions, genderless blobs, have boy names? I love the story (which I read on Wikipedia) that when the director of The Brave Little Toaster cast a woman to play the toaster, one of the guys on the crew was so mad he stormed out of the room. Because he thought the toaster was a man. A TOASTER. The character is a toaster.

I try to think about that when writing new characters— is there anything inherently gendered about what this character is doing? Or is it a toaster?

Bojack Horseman creator Raphael Bob-Waksberg commenting on how weird gendered defaults in entertainment are, and why we should think twice about them.

“It was one of those rare s m i l e s with a quality of eternal reassurance in it, that you may come across four or five times in life. It faced–or seemed to face–the whole external world for an instant, and then concentrated on you with an irresistible prejudice in your favor.” - The Great Gatsby

Dating as an INTJ

INTJ: Why are you touching me?
INTJ: Do you really need to hold my hand?
INTJ: Should I touch you back? How do I touch you and show interest in you without being weird? Never mind…just gonna sit on my hands.
INTJ: Is this the right time to bring up that one weird question I had?
INTJ: He just asked about my favorite thing in the whole world 8DDDDDDDDDDDDDD *obsessively gives a full on lecture on the subject*
INTJ: I just wanted to let you know that I think you’re okay.
INTJ: *tells inappropriate joke to test other persons humor*
INTJ: You see, the thing is, I’m not really comfortable with the touchy thing…
INTJ: *narrows eyes* I don’t really understand this….dating “game” people talk about…
INTJ: So after we did it, I told him thanks and left….
INTJ: Do you think it would be okay if we sat on this couch without talking or touching for a few hours?
INTJ: BUT THEY DON’T EVEN KNOW ABOUT *Insert weird subject here*
INTJ: *Says something insensitive and harsh* *doesn’t know to apologize*
INTJ: Okay but like…give me a few days notice if you want to go to a party, I need time to isolate before I’m that social.
INTJ: But really, why are you touching me?

This was my favorite quote of the movie!

For me, I’m with our favorite no-maj, Jacob Kowalski: I could never imagine this world J.K. Rowling has created.

But J.K. Rowling DID have the brains to make this up, and we’re so grateful to her for this and the whole Harry Potter story and world!

“Favorite quotes?“

I love quotes honestly. I use them a lot in my writing and they inspire some of my work. Pretty much makes me a sucker for them in which in turn makes this a tad difficult when it comes to choosing the top favs, haha.

“There’s always another storm. It’s the way the world works. Snowstorms, rainstorms, windstorms, sandstorms, and firestorms. Some are fierce and others are small. You have to deal with each one separately, but you need to keep an eye on what’s brewing for tomorrow.”

Oftentimes, I find myself bathed in wanderlust.
Consumed by it.
Those are my favorite moments.
When my desire to see the world overshadows my anxiety of being in new places.
It makes me feel normal.
Makes me feel whole.

you’ve lost count of how many times
his fingers have curled around yours,
your skin pressed flush with his,
reaching out to him has become
your favorite kind of muscle memory.

you know just how his fingertips feel
gliding across the surface of your skin,
the way the goosebumps rise to the surface
in his wake like your whole body is just
begging to be touched by him again.

and now you’re standing here, with your
whole world balanced in his palms, and you
can feel your heartbeat in your throat because
you know every tendon, every muscle, how
hard he squeezes when he pulls you to him,
how easily he could just let go.

I love her and that’s the beginning and end of everything.

« I am so excited to work with Coach and love the clothes and accessories designed by Stuart Vevers. I am especially looking forward to getting to know the Coach team as well as becoming involved in the foundation’s support of Step Up. On top of all that, collaborating on a piece with Stuart for next fall makes this beyond special to me.  Being able  to create is my favorite thing in the whole world. I’m so excited to be a part of the vision and family coach AND I get the honor to design with Stuart Vevers  - ahhhhhh. »

I was 17 when I first heard this boys heartbeat. I knew I wasn’t gonna have it all figured out, but I knew I was gonna love him hard, put him first, and show him the world as I knew it. When he was 3 weeks old, we moved to the country, a small town in Idaho to be exact, and I got to know this lil special baby so well and feel the rhythm of motherhood… my own way, my own terms. 11 years later, my favorite thing to be called in the whole wide world is “Mom”. What an honor in life to be chosen to be his. Happy Mother’s Day to alllll da mommas out there, doing it their way, raising our future kings and queens. Salute you! All of you.

  • Dark Ghost: I will tell you my favorite story...about the greatest conqueror who ever lived: Napoleon! He was a might man, feared by all who looked up to him. Using his genius and his loyal army, he conquered all of Europe, then all of Russia, and finally the whole world. The end.
  • Takeru: Your story's all wrong! Napoleon's 1807 seizure of Portugal and the subsequent rebellion by the Spaniards cost France over three hundred casualties, untold sums of money, and contributed to the eventual weakening of the Napoleonic Empire.
  • Makoto: And your analysis on the invasion of Russia is also incorrect! Napoleon's invasion of 1812 resulted in massive casualties of his troops due to starvation and inclement conditions, and ended in a disastrous retreat from Moscow with his army defeated.
  • Alain: Yeah, dummy! And when he return to France, the allied nations of Europe united against him, which led to his eventual defeat at the Battle of Waterloo on June 18, 1815, where after he exiled to the island of St. Helena, where he died a miserable death from stomach cancer on May 5, 1821, stupid!
  • Dark Ghost: *is now getting beat up by Takeru, Makoto, and Alain*
It was one of those rare smiles with a quality of eternal reassurance in it, that you may come across four or five times in life. It faced–or seemed to face–the whole external world for an instant, and then concentrated on you with an irresistible prejudice in your favor. It understood you just as far as you wanted to be understood, believed in you as you would like to believe in yourself, and assured you that it had precisely the impression of you that, at your best, you hoped to convey.
