this is my favorite movie ever pretty much

anonymous asked:

Hello 😊 sooooo I've JUST recently gotten into SHINee ( honestly I've been wanting to get into SHINee for a while but I've just been lazy until now) so I'm new to the fandom--whooop! - So I was wondering, is there anything I should know about SHINee? Also could you recommend me anything SHINee related?

welcome to the fandom, sweetpea!

there’s a lot of history to tell from these past ten years, so I’ll give you a condensed version of things (there was this huge masterpost/introduction on shinee I was going to link but I can’t seem to find anywhere otl; I’ll keep searching for it, though); even more so because… I believe it’s easier, in fact, to learn about them slowly and steadily as you become more and more involved with them.

so, take all the time you need! it’s really more exciting to fall in love with the boys little by little tbh.

forget about the typical roles found in kpop groups: all five are vocals (and visuals). shinee as a whole is very different from currently active/3rd generation groups - even though they’ve been on the run for longer, they are still young, they always bring in new, exciting concepts and flawless performances and tend to be compared to rookies in what concerns their energy on stage; meaning, they work as hard and with as much enthusiasm as a group that just debuted.

taemin is very clumsy and has a habit of losing/breaking things by accident. (important: he hates bugs and I don’t say this lightly.) he’s very reserved and an introvert, but he loves his close friends and family dearly. usually more comfortable somewhere with food available. the personification of persistence and passion for what he does. also, he’s a soloist with three (Korean: Ace and Press It / Japanese: Sayonara Hitori) successful albums released. (you can find my - heavily biased - picks of favorite taem videos here.)

oh and still related to taemin - we have this thing where chanting his name brings in luck, apparently

minho is everyone’s dream boy: acts, raps, sings, writes his own lyrics, is gorgeous and charming and athletic, always working hard to become a better version of himself and the sweetest being you’ll ever hear about. he’s tall and big and all, yes, but don’t fool yourself: he’s soft, affectionate, touchy and a Real sap 24/7. his dad pretty much adopted the other four. he starred on a movie titled ‘Derailed’ recently; on KBS’s Hwarang: The Beginning and a bunch of dramas you can find on a masterlist at the end of this post.

key is a hardworking, inspirational and real example of someone who’s been through a lot and has a lot to useful advice to share based on previous experiences (also, he’s the king of aesthetics). he knows where he stands and doesn’t take bullshit from anyone - that’s why he’s the one to quickly shut down any member who’s being Too Much during an interview/show/etc; which is funny, because key himself is full of energy and will like, do the most for as long as he can get away with it. he’s been featured in a bunch of musicals and took part in a duo, Toheart, back in 2014. solo projects include a collab song with Axodus and an ost with NCT’S Doyoung.

a guide on how much of a sweetheart is kim jonghyun - he’s a complex being with a heart much too big and we’re always learning something new about him. I think the best way to get to know him is through the blue night radio; as its dj, he often shares bits of himself you’ll learn to put together little by little and love as a whole. he’s a soloist, too, with two officially promoted albums (Base and She Is) and a self-composed compilation (Story Op.1) released.

onew is their strength, their main pillar; someone who doesn’t impose his views on the boys and who, in exchange, is extremely respected and loved by each of them (despite his dad jokes and bad puns - they adore him, I’m not even joking). no wonder he won leader of the year back in 2015. ah, yes - he’s a prime example of sunshine incarnate. (he acts, too! he was a rockstar on the musical Rock of Ages and a doctor on Descendants of the Sun.)

the boys are so genuine in themselves, to each other and to everyone else those who work with them are all about compliments and admiration

and it’s not without a reason everyone says they are a family

the importance of the year 2013 to shinee and shawols

some songs you might want to check out (p.s.: their Japanese discography is amazing and don’t let anyone tell you otherwise)

they really like dogs

they’ve won a shit ton of awards since debut

they dote on their youngest like actual brothers

they are a mess™

shawolsource’s tag for masterposts of videos on each member + dl link for all their mvs (the last part compiled by me)

must watch (in my humble opinion): The Ultimate GroupSHINee’s Surprise Party for JonghyunVlive SHINee Begins and this mess of a promotional video

something I highly recommend checking on in terms of dancing and singing skills and the relationship between the members in general: their concerts. the first one I’ve ever watched was the SHINee World Concert III (which is still my favorite!) and if there’s anything that made me fall even harder for them, like… that was it. I can’t find link for all of them, sadly, but here you have the JATSWCII and SWCIV in full and playlists for the BMU TourI’m Your Boy Tour and DxDxD Tour.

some blogs that will help you out getting familiar with them are @fyjjong and @shineesubbed.

shawols wouldn’t ever miss a chance to go on and on about anything shinee, so - any questions, opinions or requests, don’t hesitate to hit one of us up. ♡

Yugioh Challenge 24: Favorite DSoD Moment

Yugi and Atem Reunite

There are so many great moments in this movie! But my favorite part, hands down, was seeing Yugi and Atem together again. It was a beautiful moment!

Yugi had pretty much given up hope that he’d ever see Atem again, but there he is. And Atem got to see how much Yugi has grown since they parted. It’s not even for very long, and they don’t say anything, but it’s just enough. They’re both just so happy to see each other again. I get the biggest grin on my face every time I watch it!

“Spider-Man: Homecoming’s” Seven Best Jokes and Why they Matter

Spider-Man has had a rocky ride when it comes to Hollywood. Sam Raimi’s first two films were instantly beloved mega-hits that proved the superhero formula could be a cash cow, but the next three titles that bore the wall-crawler’s name ranged from just alright to downright abysmal. In case you didn’t already know, Spider-Man: Homecoming is a MUCH needed course correction, and in my opinion the best Spider-Man movie, ever, by a pretty huge margin.

What makes it so special? Its sense of humor. Jon Watt’s attempt reminds me a lot of my favorite Spider-Man stories: the first few years of the “Ultimate Spider-man” comics penned by Brian Michael Bendis (who unsurprisingly gets a special thanks in the credits). What he does better than any iteration prior (or since) is fully convince the reader that Peter Parker is a goofy kid caught up in a world of larger than life choices, risks, and consequences. That premise is simultaneously kinda heart-breaking and, more importantly rife for comedy. Here are, in no particular order, the 7 best laugh out loud moments in Spider-Man: Homecoming and how they help give this movie its secret sauce.

Minor spoilers ahead, but I will write these in a way that the punchline isn’t ruined prematurely.

Life Doesn’t Always Turn Out the Way You Plan

I was trying to post this on AO3, because it’s going to be a multi-parter. But AO3 is being grouchy tonight. So the first part will go up here, and get put up over there when the database starts behaving itself again. Then the rest of the chapters will go up over there too.

“While You Were Sleeping” is one of my all-time favorite movies ever. It just doesn’t feel like Christmas unless I’ve watched it at least once. And because I love it so much, I won’t be able to resist slipping verbatim quotes in here and there. So, watch out for those. Also, I know this is a Valentine’s challenge, but this movie is so wrapped up with Christmas for me that I had to set it then.

I’ll be honest - after this chapter, the rest of this so far is pretty much an outline interspersed with scene scraps. I’m hoping to post at least twice a week, but the schedule may be, ummmm, flexible. I’ll still try to get it all done in the month deadline.

That said, enjoy!

Life Doesn’t Always Turn Out the Way You Plan

My dad used to say something to me all the time when I was growing up. He would get this distant look in his eyes and he would tell me, “Iris, baby, life doesn’t always turn out the way you plan.”

l just wish I’d realized at the time he was talking about my life.

anonymous asked:

do you know of any movies or music ddl likes?

Thank you anon for sending this question back. I think I may have accidentally deleted the first ask since I couldn’t find it in my drafts or my queue and for that I am so sorry. I love this question because it gives me the opportunity to do some research and discover/rediscover many things about him. However this task turned out to be harder than I thought since my memory is blurry, my bookmarking system is messy and DDL’s retirement news pretty much drowned many specific articles that I’m looking for.

Daniel Day-Lewis is a film fanatic. He loves wandering into a cinema and taking pot luck with whatever is on (I laughed whenever people tweeted they thought they just saw DDL queued behind them at movies). He loves even bad movies and likes to analyze the work of actors past and present. However, I don’t think I’ve ever seen the list of his favorite films although he always talks passionately about those whose work he most admires like Montgomery Clift and Charles Laughton. So I gathered some pieces from his interviews and articles and hopefully it will give you some insight into what kind of films DDL likes.

He is intrigued by all kinds of performances.

DDL reveres the greats like Marlon Brando and Robert De Niro. He dislikes John Wayne, loves Gary Cooper and prefers the Jimmy Stewart of Capra’s classic pictures to the Stewart of Anthony Mann’s westerns.

He saw Taxi Driver at least five times when it first came out.

In 1976, when he was 19, Daniel Day-Lewis saw Taxi Driver.

“It was a real illumination. I saw Taxi Driver five or six times in the first week, and I was astonished by its sheer visceral beauty. I just kept going back – I didn’t know America, but that was a glimpse of what America might be, and I realised that, contrary to expectation, I wanted to tell American stories.”

He is fascinated by Clint Eastwood.

“I used to go to all-night screenings of his movies. I’d stagger out at 5 in the morning, trying to be loose-limbed and mean and taciturn.”

Ken Loach is the biggest influence in his life.

“I am rather surprised that I haven’t made more stories about my own country but it is a mistake to suggest that the biggest influence on my life in terms of movies has been America. It was and remains Ken Loach and his whole body of work, not that I have ever worked with him. There is something unique and pure about the way he works, without a taint on it. His beliefs have remained unwavering since he made Cathy Come Home.”

He gave Carey Mulligan a personal note for the movie An Education.

When describing the gift from Daniel Day-Lewis, she explains:

“He wrote me this beautiful handwritten note a couple weeks afterwards just saying how nice it was to meet me and that he’d like An Education. His penmanship was beautiful. The note was the most beautiful thing. If my house was burning down, I would save that. It is so precious.”

“If….” is his major early influence

When asked about a movie he saw when he was young that made him say, “This is what I’ve got to do with my life”, Daniel mentioned seeing the movie “If…” about a rebellion at a British boarding school, with Malcolm McDowell.

“Certainly that was a very important moment, but not just because of Malcolm in that film. It was partly because I was at a boarding school at the time, and if I could have got away with setting fire to the place, I would have done it. And he created a banner around which all the outcasts rallied, and so that film was a big influence.”

Some of these are really shocking since it’s hard to imagine what kind of music DDL listens to so prepare yourself.

This is one of my favorite DDL’s legendary tales. For Gangs of New York, DDL listened to the music of Eminem to get into his character, the infamously violent leader of the Natives gang, Bill the Butcher.

“Yes, every morning around five, especially the song “The Way I Am.” I’ve admired him for a while. I’m always on the lookout for music that might be helpful to a role. It bypasses the intellect in a particular way. With this film, I realized I was listening to Eminem more than usual.”

Classical music

He listens to Bach.

Folk music

In one interview, while driving up the Wicklow Mountains, DDL slid a CD of Irish folk music by the band Planxty into the sound system, and the writer said the car was filled with layers of mandolins and guitars while DDL said:

“Nothing I say will be more eloquent than this music.”

(he loves not talking during interview) ;D

Snoop Dogg

This is the transcript from an interview with DDL back in 2003.

Q: What other music have you used to prepare for roles?
DDL: Sinéad O'Connor certainly has helped me. Bach. Nirvana. Snoop Dogg.

Q: That’s funny, I’m interviewing him tomorrow.
DDL: Are you! Will you, from this great distance, pay my respects? He won’t know who the fuck I am, but I think he’s very cool.

Jimi Hendrix

This is coming from his first son with Isabelle Adjani, Gabriel-Kane Day-Lewis:

“The first album I ever listened to was ‘Purple Haze’ by Jimi Hendrix; my dad gave it to me on my tenth birthday. My mom flipped out! I know there’s a lot of sex, drugs, and rock & roll all incorporated in his music, but there’s something I loved about that kind of rock & roll. It was so raw, and so authentic — it really spoke to me. My music is definitely soul, folk-oriented, and acoustic, though. “

We also knew he went to Adele concert with his son

and to Bruce Springsteen’s as well and hung out with him in Italy with Steven Spielberg.

1. Can you tell us your coming out story? 2. What's a thing you love that most people hate? 3. What's your best feature? 4. How's your head? 5. What was your first impression of me? 6. What is your impression of me currently? 7. What's a movie that shaped your childhood? 8. Do you believe in god? 9. What's your biggest weakness? 10. What's your opinion on Power Rangers? 11. How do you usually avoid an argument? 12. What's you goto comfort food? 13. What's your favorite kind of sex?

1. My coming out story kind of comes in two parts. In 11th grade a boy from Colorado came to my small town of Altus, Oklahoma and I had an instant attraction to and interest in him. He turned out to be gay, like me, one in a million in that world of about 20,000 people. Being a small town, his father worked with my stepfather…so we only dated for a month before my parents got involved and forced me into counseling to “pray away the gay.” I was “straight” after that but, of course, after being away from home and in the Navy for three years, when I came back home I didn’t want to go back into hiding so my parents found out that I was still “choosing” to live the gay life. So I was outed again because I met a guy on who called the house (cellphones were still nonexistent at the time, in 2005) who “sounded gay” enough to alarm my stepfather.

2. I don’t know that most people “hate” it necessarily…as opposed to not having really tried it. But I love natto, which is a sushi composed of fermented soy beans. Some places in the States sell it but it’s quite hard to find here and never tastes the same as it does in Japan.

3. My best feature? My brain, I guess, which is also my worst feature. I tend to overthink things to death. Anxiety can carry me into some pretty dark places. But I also think my tendency to overthink things helps me with work and relationships because I’m always thinking of others and of the best way to interact in every situation I encounter.

4. My head? It’s fine, I think.

5. My first impression of you was that you had a cool blog and I was happy that you chose to follow me.

6. Pretty much the same as 5. We haven’t interacted enough for that to have changed, really.

7. Gremlins shaped my childhood. It remains my favorite movie because it was both scary and funny. Its macabre sense of humor has informed my writing and my sensibilities ever since. I don’t know that any movie will ever affect me as much as this movie has. It seems silly, but it is quite unlike any movie I have seen.

8. I identify as an agnostic. I grew up in a very religious environment. I do believe in fate and coincidence as events that happen with import…I find it hard to believe nothing has any actual meaning. So, I believe god is possible…but it would be beyond anything we simple humans could comprehend.

9. My biggest weakness is my own self doubt and self hatred. I have a hard time getting past my strong dislike of myself, probably because of my upbringing in a religious environment that saw homosexuality as unnatural and a sin.

10. I love the Power Rangers! I was a huge fan as a kid. I convinced my very frugal parents to buy me the White Ranger’s Zoid and a few action figures (I know I owned the Red Ranger, at least).

11. I tend to overthink things, as mentioned above…so I hardly ever get into arguments. I can see other perspectives quite easily so I find it difficult to really get angry at other people. That might be the sociologist in me. So, I avoid arguments by simply considering others’ needs, I guess.

12. Pretzels! I love pretzels. I buy those huge tubs from Costco.

13. The kind where both guys get off at the same time. Very rare but that’s what makes it so amazing. And, of course, it’s always better when passion is involved (as opposed to a hook up).

I just saw Lego Batman and had a thoughts. What if the batkids wrote the whole thing as a joke which is why everything is so extreme and pretty much all of Batman's pessimist views came from Jason, Dick's extreme nature came from Tim and Damian, nobody changed anything about Alfred or Babs cause they know better, and Dick added all of the other villains and made them all extreme. So they wrote the best fanfic ever and someone made it into a movie. Cause I could see all that, the. Great movie!

Legit that movie is probably my favorite film in the last ten years or so, and hEADCANON ACCEPTED.

Day 26 of 31 (late): Favorite Screencaps From Any Movie/TV Show:

I’ve pretty much been posting those all month, so here’s how I’m gonna get around Day 27: The bloopers of Matt the Radar Technician are the best ever. Ever. This skit was so brilliant. Even my bosses came in laughing about it on Monday. I love seeing him just break down over the ridiculousness of it all. And it’s so adorable how Taran Killam and Bobby Moynihan couldn’t stop fanboying.

And I would be remiss if I didn’t say “I HAVEN’T HAD MY MUFFIN, MATT!”

“Dude, Matt straight up SUCKS.”

anonymous asked:

Cal Weathers is legit my favorite character ever in the movie and I'd absolutely love to see some head canons you have about him please if it's no trouble? :)

I’m actually pretty new to the character and don’t know too much about him beyond what’s on the surface, but here’s what I think thus far!
-He’s 100% a sweetheart
-he strikes me as a family man, I bet he has a very supportive wife at home that kinda detoxes him from all the teasing
-he and lightning maintained a good friendship after he retired
-he liked training with Strip more than the actual racing at times

It’s finally time for the Meetup!!!!
Every time we have one of these I tell myself I’m going to make a post and I ALWAYS forget. So shout-out to @elletromil for tagging me because without her I probably would have forgotten again. 😅
But I’m Taylor! I’m from Upstate New York, which means not the city and most of my neighbors are literal cows and goats but it’s cool. The coolest thing about me is probably that I’m a boxing trainer. (Still working out how to incorporate that into my Kingsman fics but I will do it eventually I swear.) I’ve been in the Kingsman fandom for…a while now. I saw the movie a few weeks after it came out all that time ago and I walked out of the theater, looked at my dad, and said, “That was the best movie EVER.” And the rest is history. 😂
I’m a multishipper and down for pretty much anything, but Hartwin and Merlahad are the ships I’ll take with me to my grave. I love writing fanfiction but my AO3 account has been pretty neglected lately due to a mix of writer’s block and general life stuff happening. It won’t be like that forever though. I also mess around with edits and those will pop up on my blog from time to time. But mostly I’m a professional Reblogger and Fangirl which I think suits me. 👌🏻 I’ve got a few favorite headcanons running around in my head with no idea on how to execute them so if you’re ever in the mood to talk some stuff and help a girl out I will always accept the assistance.
I love talking to people in this fandom, but I’m just really bad at initiating the conversation. But I don’t bite, I swear. But I’m always in hysterics over these characters and this franchise, and I’m always looking for new friends around the fandom!
That’s all, folks! Feel free to drop by anytime ❤️✌🏻️

@animals-bring-happiness replied to your post “Love working at a movie theatre cuz I get free snake enrichment in the…”

You have a snake?!?!?! Since when??? :0

i have four snakes! and i’ve actually had them longer than fox!

this my first snake Jory, but i pretty much only ever call her J. i bought her on craigslist for 25 dollars. She’s a corn snake, and in my opinion she’s the most beautiful normal corn out there. her head has a perfect arrow head shape on it. she’s the most active out of all my snakes and secretly she’s my favorite.

and here’s little king bradley, the second snake. he was 20 bucks at a reptile expo just a classic black and white banded california king. his size is very stunted because not long after i got him my escaped from his cage and he was missing for so long that i assumed he was dead. and he practically was when i found him! it took him a very long time to start eating regularly and for a king snake he’s a /very/ fussy eater. but he’s finally taking food from the tongs again, eating every week and steadily gaining weight. he has a unique squiggly mark just before his tail.

a few weeks after i got bradley, my brother asked me if i could take care of his friends snake for a month while he looked for a new place. obviously that didn’t pan out and after i’d had him for a year i decided it was safe to assume that he was mine. i named him wash, he’s a anerythristic corn snake. he’s got a healthy appetite and he’s a lazy boy with a tiny head.

and finally, Cro. she’s a pinstripe silver streak ball python, another expo buy. when i got her she was extremely EXTREMELY shy. she would only eat if i silently left her food in the tub without disturbing her, so she could discover it in her own. most of the time i would have to remove it uneaten in the morning. when she finally settled in, she turned into a big eater with an awesome feeding response. she’s still a pretty shy girl, and she always shits on me. but she’s beautiful and rather active for a ball! really enjoys new toys.

i don’t have any recent pics of them because my new camera sucks at taking close up pics. and i don’t talk about them here, because this is a dog blog, and i’m not interested in being part of reptiblr :/

“I went to the store today to buy a new copy of Adventures in Babysitting. As I was being rung out the girl at the checkout said she loved old movie’s from the 70′s I corrected her and she got angry, then proceeded to argue with me about what year Adventures in Babysitting came out.” She sighed softly shaking her head as she spoke. “I’m pretty sure she wasn’t much younger than me and i’ve never felt so old in my life.”

You can pretty much assume that I’ve watched every watchable mainstream lesbian movies out there 😂  so yes of course I’ve seen Carol and I love it so much 😍

my angel flung out of space

My favorite movie is The Secretary (uh-duuh) but I definitely don’t feel like I get to speak about it enough with friends ‘cuz they either haven’t seen it or don’t like it, which is OK, but, like, I just need to discuss all my favorite moments.

For example when Lee tells Mr. Grey that she loves him (twice) and he goes “sry, but I don’t believe that to be true” cuz sweet baby, he’s so convinced no one could ever love him for him, but then Lee goes “well it is tru, it is” and that’s it, you know, that’s the part that caught my heart. Not because she loves him. But because she’s pretty much telling him that “you can order my ass around and spank it raw, whatevs, but don’t come here tryin’ to tell me how I feel” and it’s beautiful.
