this is like the first time she's let anyone see max like this

Honestly I love how laid back the Camp Camp fandom’s shipping is. You can toss headcanons about almost any ship, and people will be like ‘huh, that’s kinda cute, never thought of that lol’

You ship Harrison and Neil?
You ship a science kid who can’t for the life of him figure out how Harrison can do all these tricks, with magic boy who’s quietly flattered Neil ‘has so much interest’ in him? You ship a relationship comprised solely of jealousy and anger until it slowly flip-flops into one-sided admiration and finally mutual love and begrudging respect? Sweet

You ship Harrison and Nerris?
They hate each other, but hell, all of us can see what a great match they’d be– if they aren’t one already. Two magic dorks playing D&D, playing pranks on each other and not being ashamed to take full credit for them, tripping the other just so they can catch them and hold them romantically in their arms (Harrison usually does this, but Nerris would jump off a bridge before letting herself be held romantically by Harrison). This is a ship waiting to flourish, and the only way it could possibly get better is if we could have an entire episode dedicated to their rivalry but end it on a note of mutual regret and apology and,,.. oh wait.

You ship Nerris and Nikki?
Sure! We can all picture the adventure girlfriends sneaking off into the woods, Nikki having the time of her life while Nerris won’t stop rolling perception checks. They probably climb trees and do all sorts of zany stuff together–Nerris is be considerably less able than Nikki, but like hell will admit it. Nikki finds her persistence adorable. Sometimes, she’ll give Nerris piggy back rides– Nerris likes to pretend she’s on a dragon, and Nikki doesn’t mind humoring her. They frequently fall asleep cuddled in Nerris’s cape.

You ship Nikki and Max?
That’s not a personal fave of mine, but hey, I can see it. They’d do all sorts of outdoorsy stuff together, Max always (and sarcastically) making sure she doesn’t pull some crazy shit that’ll land her in the hospital. Nikki, in return, would teach grouchy boy to live a little.

You ship Preston and Max?
Awesome, that’s one of my OTPs. Loud theater son x snarky little shit is a yes please. Preston probably falls for Max first, but is horrible at hiding it and finally confesses with a loud, cheesy soliloquy (Max agrees to go out with him only to shut him up, then proceeds to helplessly fall for him like an idiot.) Preston loves theater and Max likes movies, so at first there’s some arguing and affronted gasps, but they end up bonding over musicals. When Drama Boy gets too heated up over something, Max is quick to temper him, either verbally (‘Preston, calm down, jesus’) or physically (eyyyy). Getting 'too heated up’ for Preston can range from getting a really good play idea to remembering Nurf, and that’s a tough range to keep up with, but Max is up for the challenge. In exchange, Preston gets Max to open up more than anyone– for someone so self-centered, he is an excellent listener. He probably steals some of Max’s best quotes and puts them in his plays– Max always notices, but never says anything (he’s flattered lol)

The Camp Camp fandom doesn’t give a shit about shared screen time, or canon sexuality (probably cause it doesn’t exist), or anything. As long as the characters have potential chemistry and the shipper stays respectful, everyone’s chill with everything.

Except Maxvid.

We don’t talk about Maxvid.

Ok, the hate Max is getting is fucking ridiculous. I’ll link this post from reddit by CiB789 which might explain her reasons for not contacting Chloe. Remember, people, Max is not evil, she does not hate Chloe, she didn’t do that out of spite, she feels bad for what she’s done and she did everything she could to redeem herself in the first game. Social anxiety sucks.

Remember that by the time of the texts we see in Before the Storm it’s been over a year since William’s death. I expect in the immediate aftermath of William’s death Max was better at keeping in touch (especially as that point the move was recent) And in that time (based on what she knows when they reconnect in Season 1) Chloe isn’t actually telling Max anything about what’s going in her life.

The busy excuse is a tough one for Max. She strikes me as the sort who finds it every difficult to just text or phone someone without them contacting her first (indeed, in Season 1, just about all of her text conversations are initiated by the other person). Chances are if Chloe texts her with the stuff she does text herself with- essentially with small talk, and Max doesn’t see the text immediately she seems the sort to have difficulty responding hours later (because then she’s initiating contact). And then you have the “well how do I respond to this?” quesiton- and if she can’t find an answer to that it can become easy to say “well I’ll think about it later”. And then a week later it’s impossible to come up with anything you think you can say. Which is where shyness becomes guilt. Max feels like she’s being a shitty friend to Chloe due to this shyness (this is evident in Season 1, where Chloe right from the get go is at the forefront of her mind, and her diary has her describing herself as a terrible friend). So eventually she’s not only too shy to reply to Chloe, she’s starting to think that Chloe hates her for failing her as a friend. When Chloe then texts her calling her “the Queen of the crickets”- that probably hurt Max to read this, especially as it (in Max’s mind) probably confirms the “well she hates me now” hypothesis.

Finally ignorance. All Max knows by the time of BtS is that Chloe lost her father around 2 years ago. Chloe hasn’t said things like “I have a step father and we hate each other” or “I’m lonely” or “I’ve not made any new friends”. That is, Chloe has given Max no indication that Chloe hasn’t moved on, nor has she given Max any indication that Chloe needs her. I couldn’t help but think that if Chloe has texted Max saying “Feeling shitty, please call” then the second Max got that text Chloe’s phone would ring. Had Chloe sent any of the letters she’s not sending, Max would be there for her come hell or high water.

Finally, remember from season 1 that Chloe (eventually) had Rachel- the implication we get there is that Max never found anyone to fill the Chloe shaped hole in her life. She’s still writing in her diary five years later that Chloe is her best friend, and that she let Chloe down.

So basically, Max’s shyness and guilt pushed her to a point where she probably doesn’t think that Chloe wants to hear from her. I actually feel really sorry for Max here. I expect some of this will end up in Farewell.

Celestial Navigation:  Prison Break

Okay, so here you go!  This is for the Anon who was having a rough time of it like a month or so ago, and I said I’d write this, then got started and couldn’t get it to go anywhere.  It just…sucked.  I don’t know.  I’ve tried to clean it up some, so hopefully, it is fun and will lift Anon’s spirits if they are still out there.  I didn’t forget.  I just had a hard time with this one, so I hope it is remotely close to what you were hoping for.  Anyway, enjoy!  Thanks everyone.

anonymous asked:

What do you think everyone's favorite Disney movies are?

Hoo boi!! Let’s see…

Daichi: The Fox and the Hound. Like legit, you know that mother fucker watches this when he’s home sick. He curls up on the couch with tissues (totally for the cold and definitely not for all the tears he be sheddin’ by the end of the movie). He considered changing Pochi’s name to Copper when he first got him but then decided against it because Noya had promised to find him a new home and he didn’t want to get too attached. (Ha. Ha.) Then by the time he realized he was stuck with him, it was too late to change it. He regularly holds Pochi’s paws and says, “I’m a hound dooooogggg.” Suga has it on video and watches it when he’s feeling down.

Suga: If you ask Suga what his favorite Disney movie is, chances are he will tell you “Cool Runnings” or “Max Keeble’s Big Move” just to be a little shit and get you to say, “No… I mean like… you know. The animated ones. Uhm… like when you say Disney movie they’re the ones that pop up in your head…” “Ohh… you mean like the Lizzie McGuire Movie.” “Suga no.” But actually, his favorite is Frozen. Honestly, that “Let it Gosong was LIT and he never misses an opportunity to sing it. “Suga, did you eat the cupcake I told you not to-” “LET IT GOOOO LET IT GOOOOO.” “God damn it.” Or when Daichi is getting out of the shower… Suga kicks the door of the bathroom open, LOVE IS AN OPEN DOOOORRR! “SUGA GET OUT.” He absolutely loves it. He dressed up as a perfect male Elsa for Halloween. Any time someone disses on it, “It wasn’t THAT good…” a fist fight breaks out. Let people enjoy things, you fucks.

Oikawa: Lilo and Stitch. “It’s not because the aliens! Shut up, Iwa-chan!” It’s totally because it’s a heartfelt story about family sticking together and definitely not because there are space ships and aliens and lasers. Nope. Iwaizumi made him a Scrump doll for their fourth anniversary and Oikawa takes it with him whenever he travels and totally, no way, definitely does NOT sleep with it. Nope.

Iwaizumi: Oliver and Company. Despite having the voice of an angel, Iwaizumi has very few indulgent songs that he sings when he’s at home. “Why Should I Worryis one of the few that he actually does belt when he’s in the mood. Just imagine him sliding in his socks around the kitchen as he’s making dinner, singing into a wooden spoon… “Why should I worry? Why should I care? I may not have a dime, but I got street savoire faire.” It’s Oikawa’s little secret that he will never share with anyone. On Iwaizumi’s last birthday, Oikawa dressed up as Georgette and sang “Perfect Isn’t Easy”. Like… he just pranced around the bedroom singing, “Though many covet my bone and bowl, they’re barkin’ up the wrong tree. You pretty pups all over the city, I have your hearts and you have my pity. Pretty is nice, but still, it’s just pretty. Perfect, my dear, is me.” Iwaizumi laughed so hard that he started crying and it was definitely the best birthday he’s ever had.

Matsukawa: A Goofy Movie. And not just because of the memes. Because of the strong familial bond between Goofy and Max and how hard Goofy tries but just can’t seem to get it right. Matsukawa can see a bit of his own father in him, as they had their own troubles back when he was in high school. They got through it and have an even stronger relationship and he can see that in this movie. (but it’s mostly because of the memes.)

Hanamaki: The Princess and the Frog. He’s got that Friends on the Other Side,” song memorized and sings it while he’s…. well… “working”. Also, RayXEvangeline is his OTP and he will go to the grave preaching their love. He used to go catch frogs in the pond near his house when he was a kid so honestly he just has a total soft spot for the little critters. Oh and he thinks Prince Naveen is a total hottie. 10/10 would smash.

Bokuto: Aladdin! Oh man he could watch this movie every day for the rest of his life and never get tired of it!!! He’s even dressed up as the Genie for Halloween more than once! He’s got that “Friend Like Me” song DOWN. He can do all the voices and everything! In fact, one of the main reasons Akaashi fell in love with him way back in high school was because on the few occasions that it was Akaashi that lost some confidence, Bokuto would sing the song to him and change “Aladdin” to “Akaashi” and it never failed to cheer him up to hear, “Mister Akaashi, Sir, what will your pleasure be? Let me take your order, jot it down. You ain’t never had a friend like me!”

Akaashi: Monster’s Inc.! Oh man Akaashi loves this movie so much. One of the only times you can see him visibly get giddy is when this movie is playing. It’s honestly the most adorable thing Bokuto has ever seen and every time Akaashi imitates Boo and says, “Kitty!” in a cutesy voice, Bokuto legit ascends to a higher plane of existence. He definitely plays the jazzy OST in the background when he’s sewing, humming along with the melody. He also may or may not have pushed a small child down in his desperation to get into the theater for the very first showing of Monster’s University. (Also, don’t tell anyone, but he made himself a Sully pajama onesie and definitely wears it all the time, but knows Pain in the Ass Kuroo-san would never let him hear the end of it if he found out so he keeps it a secret even from Bokuto.)

Kuroo: The Emperor’s New Groove. Kuroo has most definitely dressed up as Kuzco for Halloween around the same times Bokuto has dressed up as Genie. (In both the llama and human form.) His ringtone was also “Perfect World” for the longest time, until Kenma changed it one night after getting tired of hearing Kuroo shout out “Me!” after the “This Perfect World begins and ends with-” part before answering his phone.

Kenma: Toy Story. Hey, the less actual human beings in a movie, the better, ammiright? As a kid who didn’t have a lot of real friends growing up, the concept that your toys came to life and loved playing with you as much as you played with them was a really beautiful concept to him. He had always been a really rational kid, and knew that it was fiction, but there was some part of him that always thought, “But what if?” After the first time he watched Toy Story, he started treating his toys more gently, and daydreamed that even his videogame consoles and all the characters within them were alive and got excited every single time he took the controller. Not to mention Sid’s Scare Scene gave him ungodly satisfaction to watch after he acquired a few bullies in primary school.

Asahi: Up! Because… Because… *sobs* they were so in love… and he was such a grumpy old man but then… *SOBS* BUT HE WAS HER ADVENTURE AND OMG DOUG AND THEN THEY WERE WATCHING THE CARS TOGETHER AT THE END AND… AND… *wailing*

Nishinoya: MULAN! Kick ass women and plenty of fight scenes and most importantly… “To be a man, we must be swift as the coursing river. With all the force of the great typhoon. With all the strength of a raging fire. As mysterious as the dark side of the moon!”

Kiyoko: Brave. Strong independent woman that don’t need no man and instead wants to ride her horse and shoot her bow and fight bears and learn to connect and understand her mother? Uhhh…. sign her the FUCK up. Also, King Fergus reminds her so much of her dad that she can’t help but giggle every time he shows up on screen. And that hair animation? ENCHANTING. She can’t tear her eyes from it.

Yachi: Tangled. Oh c’mon. Duh! Yachi is so TOTALLY Rapunzel. It’s not even funny. She relates HARD with the heroine and oh my GOD it’s so cute to see her flouncing around her apartment in her PJ’s, singing, “And at last I see the light! And it’s like the fog has lifted!”

Hinata: The Little Mermaid. REDHEAD. A REDHEAD! Oh man Hinata used to watch this movie every day. He was so excited to see a redheaded Disney princess. His mom bought him a fork just so he could brush his hair with it. He used to have a little fish tank in his room and he named all of the fish after the characters. “I’m going to marry Ariel when I get older!” Little did he know, he ended up being Ariel and falling for the tall, black haired prince with the bright blue eyes instead. Oopsie Daisies.

Kageyama: Finding Nemo. There’s something about small… orange… things that draws Kageyama to them. He really has no clue what the heck it is. He has been caught a few times muttering, “Just keep swimmin’. Just keep swimmin’.”  Under his breath when he’s stressed out, either on the volleyball court or in school. Pretty much everyone has noticed but they’re a little scared that he will stop doing it if they point it out so they pretend not to hear him. It’s just too cute of a habit to lose.

Miya: Hercules. Okay Miya is low key in love with Danny Devito and so anytime he’s in ANYTHING, it’s his favorite thing. Not to mention Meg reminds him high key of a certain tsundere who won’t say he is in love. Although, if he’s being completely honest, Miya relates a bit more to Hades than he does Hercules (I think you mean HUNKules).

Shirabu: Moana. So, Shirabu doesn’t really watch a lot of movies. Okay, he NEVER watches movies. He doesn’t have time. He’s got better things to do. The few movies he HAS seen were pretty much whatever Miyazaki Hayao was putting out and even then, he wasn’t really attached to any of them. Then Moana came out and he was quite literally DRAGGED off to see it by Miya. He swore he wasn’t going to have a good time and sit with arms crossed, complaining the whole movie, but then some ANNOYING asshole laced their fingers together and refused to let go and UGH. So obnoxious. But then that same annoying asshole seemed to have a lot of fun and hummed to the tune of Shiny on the way out of the theater and down the street. And well… it did have good music. And it looked pretty. And then when Miya took him to dinner afterwards, Shirabu had managed to choke out a reluctant, “Thank you” and had to suffer through an exuberant, “What can I say except you’re welcome? But you know… Shirabu wouldn’t be against the idea of seeing more movies in the future….

Welp. That’s what I came up with. Seem fitting? Thanks for the ask, I had a lot of fun thinking about this!

Summary: Chica’s acting funny, and when strange things happen, even stranger assumptions are made

Authors Note: This story is told as the reader is female. As alwats, for my NonBinary/Male pals out there, if you would like for me to rewrite the story with genderless pronouns, just let me know and I’ll get it up as soon as possible

Ethan Nestor was not a cat person. Sure, he thought they were cute, thought they were soft. Yet, if there was any other type of dog in the room, he would immediately make a b-line for it. He loved Chica to bits, hugging her and petting her as much as possible. In a way, it was his way of remembering his dogs back home. He missed his two best friends, Max and Dexter, more than anything in the world. His love of dogs was something everyone knew. Many times, the team would lose track of Ethan just to find him curled up on the floor cuddling the golden retriever, or even taking her for random walks if she needed it. It was a precious relationship they had.

Until one day, when Ethan walked through the door, Chica immediately ran up barking loudly. Ethan jumped, surprised by her sudden attack. Never had Chica ever been so hostile with him, so aggressive. A large blush covered his cheeks, embarrassment dusking face and neck.

"Chica! China, no! No barking!“ Mark approached Chica, forcefully pulling his dog away from the red faced editor. Amy was quick to rush over, pulling Ethan in the other direction.

"Ethan? You okay?” The boy only nodded, quickly brushing himself off as if trying to get rid of something.

“What happened?” She asked as Mark approached them.

"I don’t know. I’ve never seen her act like that before.“ As if coming to a realization, Mark slowly looked to Ethan out of the corner of his eye, who was still rapidly sweeping his hands over his clothes. "The last time she did that, was when Katherine brought her cat home for the first time." Ethan completely froze, a small grimace twitching his lip upwards. "Chica doesn’t take to nicely to cats .” Amy quickly turned to Ethan, her eyes wide. Ethan? With a cat?

“Ah! See, no. Not what you’re thinking. I was just, uh. When I was walking from my car, a cat came up next to me. I pet it for only like a second. Ha. Wow, Chica has a really strong nose. What a smart dog!” And that was that.

Ethan immediately threw himself into editing, only talking when absolutely necessary. He fumbled over things, dropped his headphones more than once, and even walked right into a chair. Everyone was concerned. Was he okay? Never had they seen the blue boy act so strange, and that was saying something. Ethan was the first person out the door that day. Granted, he was one of the first to be there, but rarely had anyone seen Ethan leave that fast. He had finished all his work, so why did Mark find his actions suspicious.

The next day, Ethan was back. He walked in with his usual swagger, greeting Chica with a smile and a pat before plopping down at his desk. He waved hello to his friends, cracked jokes, and even was willing to film a video with Mark and Tyler. Mark couldn’t help exchanging looks with Amy, confusion pushing his eyebrows together. Had yesterday just been an off day? Did he completely imagine it? Despite Ethan acting like his usual self today, Mark couldn’t help the nagging feeling that lingered.

His confusion only raised as weeks past and Ethan’s behavior only began to get stranger. Somedays, the blue boy would come in with a large smile, happily bouncing all around, nothing fazing him. Others, he would come deflated, like he was upset but no one could figure out why. Well, not everyone. Ethan and Katherine only seemed to get closer as Ethan’s behavior became more sporadic. They would sometimes be found in the small kitchen, whispering quietly to each other, but as soon as anyone entered, they would break apart and continue whatever they were doing silently. Other times, they would leave together, claiming they were carpooling, despite the fact that they lived in complete opposite directions, and brought their cars that day. The rest of the team couldn’t help but get more and more suspicious. It was Pam who suggested maybe they had started dating, but wanted to keep it a secret incase it didn’t work out. Based on what they had seen so far, no one had disagreed, and a pact was made. They would give Katheryn and Ethan as much space as they wished, and no questioning them. They would tell the group when they were ready.

Nearly a year had passed, and now Mark was getting angry. If Ethan and Katheryn were actually dating, they would have told them already, surely! He started huffing, pacing back and forth. Amy sat across from him, lounging on his couch.

"I just don’t understand. Do they not trust me?“ Mark started pacing faster, rubbing his hand through his hair. Amy sighed lightly. Mark did have a point. Amy thought that Katheryn was her friend, her best friend. They always told each other everything, even the gross stuff that should have been kept to themselves.

"I don’t know, Mark. But I trust Katheryn. If she hasn’t told me yet, there has to be a reason. Maybe they want to be super sure before they tell us. It is a big deal after all. Mark sighed, pacing back and forth for a few more seconds before giving up. He plopped himself beside his girlfriend, laying his head in her lap. Sighing one more time, he crossed his arms.

"But I wanna knoooooow.” The childish response pulled a laugh out of the blonde woman. Leaning down for a quick kiss, Amy pressed play on the movie they had had queued up a few minutes ago, relaxing into their Sunday night plans.

Another month or two passed, the group now settling the idea that Katheryn and Ethan were dating. Now, it was a waiting game. When were they going to tell them? And just like that, the bets began. Tyler had guessed within the next two months. Pam had said within four weeks. Amy had said in the next two. And Mark, ever the optimist, said by the end of the week.

However, as the week passed, as Friday quickly approached. On the day in question, everyone had gathered in the editing room, passing glances to each other. The only people missing - Katheryn and Ethan. Mark was getting more and more excited. Today was the day. It had to be the day. Mark’s excitement only grew as Kathryn quickly rushed into the room, a bright smile on her face.

“Guys! Ethan really wants to see you at the front door.” Her smile pushed her cheeks into her eyes, but it didn’t seem to die down, even though it was starting to look painful. She quickly waved her hand, beckoning them to follow her. And they all did, almost too excited. Despite her confusion to their eagerness, she pushed them forward, crowding them into the small entrance way of the office. Ethan was already there, nervously bouncing on his toes. He smiled sheepishly as they finally arrived.

"Hey guys.“ He scratched the back of his head, looking to the ground. "Listen. I know I haven’t been the most discrete the last few months, but I have a really good reason."

"Ethan. We already know.” It was Tyler who had spoken. Mark was quick to retaliate, shoving his elbow into the taller man.

"What? No, no we don’t. Continue, Ethan. You were saying?“

"Wait.” It was Katheryn now who stepped forward. “You know? For how long?” Amy looked at her guiltily.

“A year."

"A year?!?” Ethan shouted in surprise. His stomach twisted into knots. A year. They had known for a year. He could have avoided all of this sneaking around, all the secrecy, for a year. He felt deflated now, but almost relieved.

“I’m so sorry Ethan!” Amy spoke again, stepping forward. “We really wanted to ask about it, but we wanted you to do it on your own terms.” The genuine smile that crossed his features made the rest of the room smile just as easily.

"You guys are the best. Well, not the best. Could have saved all this secrecy and panic, but I’m glad you all know now.“ Ethan smiled again, now more excited than nervous. "I’ve been waiting all year to tell you. I really wanted to do it sooner, but I knew I wanted to be absolutely sure before I introduced you to her.” This caused the room to gain an air of confusion. Meet? But they all knew Katheryn already…unless…

"Wait! You’re not dating Katheryn?!?“ Pam practically shouted this, pointing accusingly between the two parties. In an instant, both Ethan and Katheryn had looked at each other for a second before shouting loudly in disgust.

 "What? No way in hell!"

"I mean, no offence to Katheryn, but no way!” Before anyone could get any louder, a single hesitant tap on the door caused the room to fall silent. The disgust that once covered Ethan’s face was replaced with excitement. He wasted no time throwing open the door, a new comer standing just at the threshold. In a very three stooges fashion, the team had all lined themselves up to get a glimpse of this person, the person who was in fact dating Ethan and wasn’t Kathryn. Ethan swopped down with no doubt in his mind, claiming her lips in a sweet kiss. She smiled brightly, returning it quickly before being allowed to step through the door. She smiled at the group, scanning her eyes over one before giving her brightest to the one familiar face in the room.

"Hello! It’s very nice to finally meet you all. I’m (Y/N).“

 Extra

The group was now walking down the street, heading to their favorite lunch spot. (Y/N) followed in tow, her hand clasped tightly in Ethan’s. They were lagging far behind the others, trapped in their own world, occasionally stopping to admire the view, or share another quick kiss. "I just don’t understand.” Amy said, turning her head to look at the shorter brunette. “How do you know (Y/N)? And what was with all the secrecy?” “Oh!” Katheryn almost looked guilty, looking to the floor before meeting her friends eyes. “Remember when we went to see that movie? The really cheesy one with the dead girl?” Amy nodded in recognition. “Well, when I was headed to the bathroom half way through the movie, I spotted Ethan at the ticket booth, hand in hand with that girl. And he saw me too. He quickly panicked, and made me promise not to tell anyone. They both wanted to go slow, didn’t want to be pressured by their friends.” “But that still doesn’t explain why Chica’s was acting weird around him.” Mark said ahead of them, turning to walk backwards to join the conversation. Kathryn laughed lightly. “That’s the day I caught them. That night, Ethan slept over at her house. She has the most adorable cat in the world. Oh my god, you guys need to meet her. She’s so sweet.” And thats how the cast and crew of Markiplier ended up at your house, Chica and your precious cat alternating sitting people’s laps, laughing and getting to know you. You were so lucky your boyfriends friends were so kind. You shared a smile with Ethan, leaning over to give him a sweet kiss. Yep, you were definitely very lucky.

Counting Down My 8 Favorite Movie Mean Girls

I honestly wouldn’t be the woman I am today without some of these girls. Even though they are bitchy as hell they all have self confidence and don’t give a fuck about what anyone says. My next post will be a think piece on movie mean girls so keep an eye out for that! Enjoy my favorite bitches. *SPOILERS* but I’m honestly judging you if you haven’t seen movies 6 through 1.

8. Lindsay Edgecomb (Halston Sage)

Movie: Before I Fall (2017) [Read my review for it here]

Best Line: “Are you trying out for a tampon commercial?”

Lindsay is the newest mean girl since her film was out this year but she deserved a spot. She was certainly cruel but we found out why she was so mean which makes her soft which puts her at the top of the list.

7. Madison Morgan (Bella Thorne)

Movie: The Duff (2015)

Best Line: “And then she’s all like bitch if I wanted your opinion I’d ask and I was all like bitch if I cared what you thought I’d ask. Ugh, my grandma is so annoying.”

Madison is straight up just there to make your life a living hell. Most mean girls learn their lesson at the end of films but Madison gave zero fucks the entire time. Although she could be up there with the heavyweights she isn’t as iconic as the rest of the list so I’ll let her sit pretty at number 7.

6. Taylor Vaughan (Jodi Lyn O’Keefe)

Movie: She’s All That (1999)

Best Line: “I could win this thing in fluorescent lighting, on the first day of my period, cloaked in T.J. Max OK?”

Taylor Vaughan was your typical 90′s mean girl. All she wanted to do was win prom queen and destroy an outsider’s life. She’s overlooked and honestly she’s just an unstoppable force. You could say she’s… all.. that. HA.

5. Jennifer Check (Megan Fox)

Movie: Jennifer’s Body (2009)

Best Line: “It smells like Thai food in here. Have you guys been fucking?”

Jennifer Check is not only evil but the biggest bitch ever. The worst part is that she’s the meanest to her best friend. I mean sleeping with someones boyfriend is disgusting but eating someone’s boyfriend is unforgivable. Jennifer is number 5 cause she’s got a taste for petty and useless teenage boys.

4. Regina George (Rachel McAdams)

Movie: Mean Girls (2004)

Best Line: “Good. So it’s settled. So you can go shave your back now. Bye Jason.”

Oh Regina George so beautiful, so iconic, and sharp as a tack. She’s ruler of Northshore high and her posse even has their own name. Not only did she make mini skirts and pink cool but she even learned to be nice in the end. Although Regina was a mega bitch she changed her ways and channeled her feelings into contact sports. I know all are you are probably thinking how can such an iconic person be number 4? Well when I post the next 3 ladies you’ll see why.

3. Kathryn Merteuil (Sarah Michelle Gellar)

Movie: Cruel Intentions (1999)

Best Line: “God forbid I exude confidence and enjoy sex.”

Kathryn is my favorite kind of bitch, rich bitch and the reigning queen of the Upper East Side. I can’t even begin to name the things that make her basically evil. She made a bet with her step brother that included sleeping with him, she ruined an innocent girl, and in the end she’s still maintaining her bad girl habits at her brothers funeral. If that’s not the definition of mean girl I don’t know what is. Blair Waldorf wishes she was her.

2. Heather Chandler (Kim Walker)

Movie: Heathers (1988)

Best Line: “Fuck me gently with a chainsaw do I look like Mother Teresa?”

Oh Heather C I do love thee. She was ruthless and literally was rude to everyone even her best friends. No wonder why Veronica wanted her dead. Heather literally watched Veronica puke at a college party and laughed after. I mean who wants to be friends with that? Heather started mean and she died mean too which places her on top at number 2.

1. Courtney Shayne (Rose McGowan)

Movie: Jawbreaker (1999)

Best Line: “I killed the teen dream, deal with it.”

Oh Courtney my personal favorite. She had the hip 90′s outfits, a cool car, and a posse to follow her around. All l things you need to be Queen B. I like Courtney cause she’s great in a crisis. Someone witnesses you guys moving a dead body? Give her a makeover and make her cool. What kills me about this movie is that Courtney’s demise isn’t killing her best friend it’s turning a girl into a monster just like her. I mean to take down the best you gotta learn from the best am I right. Even when Courtney is getting screamed at at the dance she still doesn’t deny the fact that she literally killed her best friend with a jawbreaker. Courtney has the best compusure and the best lines and this is why she’s number one.

Your POV

You had just finished your shift at Pops and decided to take a shower, it should be a while before your best friend/high school crush/roommate Jughead Jones came home, he was working late investigating for his novel with Betty.

You turned on the water and got undressed, putting your hand in the stream line to check the temperature, you jumped in.

It wasn’t an extraordinary shower, you washed your hair and body, shaved, and washed off that day’s make up.

You turned off the water and then you jumped out you reached for your towel but realised you didn’t have one, you decided to run to your room and grab it, so you walked to the door

Ao3 Link

Summary:  After discovering the wonders of Ladynoir fanfiction, Adrien sets out to start his own with his classmate Marinette helping him along the way. But when does fiction start becoming reality?

This story is also beta’d by the wonderful @serendipitousReckonings here on archive, @dickerdoodlez on tumblr.

Chapter 1

Adrien was never the writing type. He did write well - written papers and essays – at least according to his teachers – and was even occasionally asked by a few of his classmates for some writing tips. But, it was for educational purposes only. He‘d never had any sort of passion to write an actual story and he never thought of himself as the imaginative kind anyway. His mind was almost always focused on school, his responsibilities set by his father, and his masked identity. He never really had that luxury of being able to think about anything else. Well, except for his Lady, but that was something entirely different.

I just keep thinking about the bay or bae choice but like in the context of the choice the beast gives Wirt at the end of over the garden wall. Like the tornado asking to choose between chloe and Arcadia bay and Max just responding with, "that's dumb" and choosing something else that saves everyone lmao

Haha, I’ve never drawn that comparison but that’s amusing. OTGW is one of my favorite stories in general at this point, though. Thinking on all of this led to an informal essay that helps me ground myself in my own mistakes with other fics I’ve worked on, All Wounds’ planning stages, and how I’m approaching its impending ending.

This one’s a bit of a doozie.

(I will be referencing elements of the endings to Over the Garden Wall, Life is Strange, Steins;Gate, and Oxenfree, in case you’re worried about knowing things you don’t yet want to know)

OTGW and LIS are very different stories dealing with very different themes, and OTGW can get away with a blunt and brusque resolution like that because it’s a dark comedy that’s in many ways subverting or teasing a lot of melodramatic tropes. LIS often introduces tropes and then peels back a layer and asks us to look deeper, which is a whole other sort of deal.

The problem, though, is that its own finale and final climax kind of doesn’t hold up, because it hinges upon a choice that really makes no sense – and a moral-oriented choice, at that, which makes it even harder to swallow.

With Wirt and the Beast, there’s a physical character within the world to confront. To call out. To vanquish or scare off or outsmart. Greg’s disposition can be broken apart and he can be released. The entire story is about mystery and, well

OTGW makes no allusions that its story isn’t supposed to quite make sense, it embraces its mystery, and it subverts things by making ‘reality’ a hidden element until the final act.

The story makes it pretty obvious that this world isn’t supposed to make much sense, too, which leads us to not really question things when it doesn’t.

Wirt is the elder brother, he’s supposed to set an example, he’s supposed to look out for his sibling, and he fails.

And while there’s a lot of darkness to this story, it is, ultimately, a comedy, first and foremost, and most resolutions with the various antagonists are resolved with some kind of clever or amusing tactic. It doesn’t want us to take it too seriously, and it’s often making fun of tropes in dramatic fantasy stories.

What’s happening with Max, Chloe, and the tornado isn’t so physical as being lost, as confronting magical beasts. It’s abstract and unexplained, yet the story wants us to take it seriously and tries (weakly) to ‘explain’ things. This falls short because there aren’t really any concrete, established rules, and yet we’re supposed to buy into everything being Max’s fault when we don’t even know how it’s her fault. This is tricky because within the context of the narrative, it makes the player assume the position and perspective the creators wanted:

Max Caulfield is supposed to choose between the greater good, or what she desires as an individual.

The premise of that choice is great, and it’s what the entire game has been foreshadowing and leading up to. The execution is just very iffy to me because of the dodgy attempt at explanation…without explaining anything. ‘Chaos Theory’ literally does not work the way the game alludes to it. The writers know none of this makes sense, which is why in the finale they unfortunately go as bluntly as to make Chloe say:

Eric x Reader

Part One

“We all know why we’re here, (Y/N) would you like to explain yourself?” Max asked as he hurried in and sat down, not looking at Eric or Tori.

“Running to Abnegation gave my child the best chance to correctly decide on her faction.” You said seriously and everyone seemed to be taken back.

“So, you were pregnant before you left?” Eric asked through gritted teeth.

“Yes, less than two percent of Dauntless children leave Dauntless I wanted to give my child a chance to experience a faction that had a higher…” Eric shook his head and stood up.

“Are you saying that she wouldn’t have the chance to change factions if I raised her!” Eric snapped and Max motioned for him to sit.

Can you do a prompt where Victoria isn't actually mean but comes of as such like "Max looks so pretty" and max is like "what?" And Victoria is just flustered and caught off guard and says the "I SAID YOU LOOKED SHITTY GO FUCK YOUR SELFIE" (doesn't have to contain that but I think it would be cute to see that Victoria only acts like that because she is flustered and crushing hard on max XD)

How to Deal with Crushes

Contrary to Victoria’s surname, she does not in fact “chase” anyone or anything. If anything, people chase after the Chase’s and the same principle is applied to Victoria, just look at her Vortex Club lackeys. Of course they’d follow her, who wouldn’t? She’s popular, efficient, and everything they could only hope to be. Whatever else she didn’t have, she grabbed onto without unnecessary chasing.  If she wants something then she gets it, end of story.

So it’s safe to say that she is most definitely not crushing on Max Caulfield.

Nope, she’s not falling for her waif hipster bullshit and her awkward shy pretense. The girl was short too so Victoria always ends up literally looking down on her and her annoying doe-eyed expression that seem to bring out her freckles. Especially those damn freckles. She would bet that underneath those poorly coordinated bargain clothes that Max had matching freckles on her shoulders which is lame. She’s a walking fashion disaster and Victoria has to stop her hands from tearing away those hideous clothes not because she wants her naked or anything, those clothes are just that terrible.

And her pictures? Selfies! Not even the kind that’s thought through and planned. No, Max just takes ordinary selfies. The kind of selfies that you post on social media and not in art galleries. The kind of selfies that show what her face looks like in the morning where the lighting is just right to add depth to her annoying freckles. The kind of selfies that reveal to Victoria the undeniable truth that Max is kind of cute.

God, she is pining over her so hard.

But she can’t let anyone else know that. See it from her point of view. She’s spent so much into her heartless bitch reputation that she can’t just let go all because of some dumb hipster with a cute face and a good eye for photography. She almost forgot about that part. Max has terrifying skill with the camera even though she doesn’t even know it. Victoria’s photos look amateur even next to some of Max’s selfies. That’s also one more thing she won’t admit out loud.

Max’s talent infuriates her just as much as it turns her on. She makes it look so easy, so effortless. She’s just using her retro-cam and the quality of her photos are worth more than what the best studio can produce. Max is Victoria’s competition and she hasn’t met someone that could fit the rival role so well in terms of skill. She likes to entertain the thought that maybe Max could fit the girlfriend role while at it too. One time she commented on Victoria’s photos being Avedon-esque and Victoria practically swooned inside. Still swooning about that until now.

Victoria is sitting on one of the benches on campus. It’s not like she deliberately chose this particular bench because she spotted the familiar flash and whir of a certain hipster’s camera nearby. It’s Max. Of course it has to be Max, who else? Victoria would never sit on this godawful excuses for furniture if she had a choice. The view helps her forget that her car has better cushioning.

Max is in her element again, with her back at Victoria, taking a photo of whatever. It’s sunset and with it there’s a poignant sense of romanticism painted across the campus. The sun’s rays sift through the trees and fall onto Max just right to give her this ethereal shine. Victoria captures her in the moment without even thinking. It’s only after the click of the shutter does she realize that she’s already looking through the viewfinder. She pulls back and stares at the photo she doesn’t remember taking and then back at the subject in front of her. While the photo was gorgeous like all her work naturally, it could only hope to capture the actual beauty before her.

“She’s so pretty.” Victoria almost sighs dreamily out of earshot.

Or what she thought was out of earshot since Max’s head spins so fast at the catch of her words. She shoots her a confused look. “What?”

And oh, god. Max looks way better with her face showing and she’s wearing that stupid doe-eyed look again and fuck, fuck. Victoria’s brain goes into panic mode. She doesn’t know what to say and it does not help that Max’s face is so distracting. The lighting shifted along with her movement and glistens along her frame and fuck, she looks lame in her clothes but she also looks radiant like what the fuck? And Victoria is still staring and oh, god what should she say?

“I SAID YOU LOOK SHITTY!” She yells at her with too much force to sell the intended spite. Nice one, Victoria. Smooth save. That will definitely tell Max that she is interested in her. Why don’t she go ahead and add some more flirty undertones. “GO FUCK YOUR SELFIE.” There it is. The words come out of her mouth as if on auto. Despite her face sporting a domineering look, Victoria very much wants to hide her embarrassment. It’s a good thing that she can hide her blush underneath her usual layers of anger.

Max looks more confused than offended and Victoria just wishes for her to go away so she could make a dash for her car and scream there. “Okay…?” She asks more than says, as if testing the waters. Victoria can’t help but snarl back just out of reflex and it’s enough to tell Max that the water is boiling and there’s a high chance that it will turn into a bloodbath. She sighs and it almost sounds like she was expecting something different.

Victoria already has plans on berating herself for again ruining another moment with Max and will do so as soon as she walks away but Max has other plans. There’s that bright flash again only this time it’s aimed at her. The whir of the camera isn’t lost to the buzzing in her brain. “Did you just…?” She can’t quite bring herself to finish her sentence, she can’t trust herself anymore.

Max is still in her element, not at all put-off by Victoria’s gaping, it must be the camera. There’s something empowering about holding a camera that makes Max bolder than her usual shy self, not that Victoria would notice that. Max just takes the photo as it develops with her nimble fingers. Victoria could tell the exact moment that it finishes when Max’s face erupts into a smile so wide she doubts it could fit the frame of a photo. “This one’s a keeper.” She shows it to her and Victoria feels her breath catch in her throat.

At first glance, Victoria’s posture in the shot looks intimidating but that’s not the main point. The focus is her face. She thought she was making just another one of her mean looks but evidence speaks otherwise. Her eyes are smoldering as the swathes over her and it almost makes her look warm. Warm and inviting. She can’t tell if it’s from the photo or the feeling in her chest but there’s a warmth that wasn’t there before. “This is…”

Pretty, I guess.” Max casually shrugs and Victoria’s head snaps up at the word. Just when she thinks that a smile looks cute on Max, she’s annoyingly adorable with a smirk too. “Pretty awesome.” She’s teasing. The hipster actually heard her and she’s flaunting it and Victoria should be mad at anyone who dares talk back to her but all she can think of is how Max is obviously flirting with her and she’s so happy that even her scowl looks friendly enough.

This is her chance! She can feel it with her heart beating so fast. Victoria has never run in her life aside for fitness but her heart is hammering wildly like it does when she jogs. Except she’s not running right now but it’s something similar. This is a chase and Max is her target and she can swear that she’s so close. She swears she almost feels it with her fingertips like how hers is brushing over the photo. The mood is set and the setting is just right. She’s going to do this and she’s going to get this right. She can’t mess this up now.

“Pretty amateur, smallfield.” And great, we’re back to gradeschool flirting again. Victoria represses the urge to just hit herself for being so lame. Really? Is that the best she can give? And what’s with that stupid nickname? She panicked okay. She has boys wrapped around her finger but she can’t fucking compliment a hipster girl that she likes without burying it under seven layers of insult.

“Still pretty.” Max insists with a smaller but still cute smile. She then takes back the photo and places it securely in her bag. Victoria tries not to think too much about the fact that she might even see the photo on the wall of Max’s room. “I guess it was nice talking to you, Victoria.”

“Yeah and you’re such a delight yourself. Get out of my face.” Victoria almost praises herself because the first sentence is the closest thing she’s gotten to an actual compliment. Max is already walking away but Victoria waits until she’s out of sight. Too bad she isn’t out of mind. Max calling her pretty is up there on her best-memories list next to their Avedon-moment. Max is also coincidentally on her to-do list.

God, she’s so fucking smitten.

You, Shawn and Aaliyah were currently sprawled out on Shawn’s bed. It was incredibly late, but none of you wanted to sleep.

You had been in an in-depth conversation about bananas, but you all got lost along the way. As one would, talking about…bananas.

“Shawn?” Aaliyah piped up from her place on the end of the bed.

“Yeah?” He answered.

“Do you wanna get a tattoo? Like ever?”

Alec rushed around the Institute, trying to control the damage that Sebastian had left in his wake. Everyone was terrified for themselves, their families, their friends. There was no telling who Sebastian would kill to find out more about the Mortal Instruments. He was still raising Hell, even though it had been five days since his attack on Max and the Shadowhunters that had been guarding the mirror.

Five days. Alec knew he was using Sebastian as an excuse to forget about Magnus and bury himself in his work, but he was always there, lingering in the back of Alec’s mind, torturing him constantly.

You and Simon had been friends since you were in nappy’s. Your parents having been friends for ages, therefore you were always destined to be friends.
You were best friends since you could play, both of you helping each other with things, him being very protective of you from the get go.
Even when he properly got into the YouTube thing with JJ, he would always spend time with you, away from his online career.
When he moved away to London things had got a bit harder, phone calls and facetimes the main way of communication in between him filming videos.
He came home relatively frequently, loving to see his family, his dog, you.
He was coming home this weekend, it had been a while since he’d been down, but he just wanted a break from YouTube and the stuff that came with it.

His mum had phoned you the night before, inviting you to their house for a small welcome home dinner.
You arrived at his house, knocking gently on it even though his parents always tell you to just come on in every time.
His mum answers the door, greeting you with a big smile and a warm hug, the homely smell of a warm dinner surrounding you.
She points at the living room door, making her way back into the kitchen where you could hear Simons dad pottering about.
You quietly open the door, popping your head in to see Simon lounging on the sofa, Herbie’s head on his lap, the TV on in front of him.
He glances up at you, expecting it to be one of his parents, but he does a double take when he saw you, a bright smile lighting up his face, getting quickly out of his seat to come hug you.
Your head fits perfectly into his chest, his arms snugly wrapped around your waist, his cheek resting on the top of your head.
He was wearing a pair of black shorts and an oversized grey hoodie, the familiar scent of his cologne surrounding your senses, relaxing you into his warm embrace.
He very gently rocks you back and forth, feeling your smile against his chest, cuddling properly into him and making up for the time that you haven’t seen him.
You were fully relaxed in his hold when you felt something trying to wiggle its way in between the both of you, the soft fur circling your legs.
You pull back with a giggle, seeing Herbie wagging his tail in between the two of you, looking up at you.
He turned around on the spot, hitting Simon in the legs with his bum and tail to fully turn to you, Simon letting out a disgruntled huff at how much his dog loved you.
You laughed, bending down to pat him on the head, your hands carding through his soft fur as he licked your cheek.
You stood up, sitting down beside Simon on the sofa, kicking your legs up beside his, his long arm covering the tops of your shoulders, his hand absentmindedly drawing little circles on your arm.
Herbie jumps up between you, moving in circles to get comfortable, somehow head butting Simon several times before setting his head on your lap.
You giggle at Simons annoyed face, holding his nose and checking that it wasn’t bleeding.
He pulled out his vlogging camera, pointing it at himself, a small portion of you in the edge of it.
“This is how much my dog hates me,” he said, pointing at his nose, “He headbutted me, just to then lay on y/n. And what does she do? Cuddle him. Unbelievable.”
You stifle a giggle, him pointing the camera so that you were more in frame, then down to Herbie who was almost falling asleep on your lap.

Simon’s viewers didn’t know you all that well. You didn’t live in London with them so you weren’t in that many videos. However, there were a few random games he played with you, and the one real life challenge he did with you, the comments on it not the nicest of things. Which lead him to turn them off on the videos that had you mainly on them.
In the vlogs he did at home he tried to mainly keep you out of them, the viewers not really liking how close the two of you were and he didn’t want to see you get upset because of stupid people on the internet. In most vlogs, you were just your legs in the background walking past or a small giggle at something stupid he was doing or your reflection in a window while you filmed for him.

You spent the night relaxing, having a lovely family meal, his brothers coming home for the night too.
You sat in the living room, watching TV all together, cuddled into Simons chest, his arm keeping you pulled against his warm chest.
His brothers decided to head home, both of them messing Simons hair up on the way out the door, giving you a light hug.
Soon after, his parents decide to go to bed, saying goodnight, hugging you both, his mum kissing you both on the head, beginning her speech about not staying up too late.
Simon sits and edits one of his videos, you sitting beside him, your head on his shoulder, watching how concentrated on editing he is.
You talk back and forth a bit but you can tell he’s not that engaged in the conversation.
You sit up, crossing your legs under you, pulling a blanket from the back of the sofa over you.
“You only see me once, maybe twice a month max and your sitting here editing?” you joke.
He turns to look at you, a small frown on his face. He saves all his work, turning off his computer fully.
“You know I was only joking, right? I don’t mind you working,” you say, scared that you might have annoyed him with your comment.
He turns to you properly, shaking his head, “You’re right,” he said quietly, opening his arms out for you to relax into them, hugging you into his chest, wrapping the cosy blanket around the both of you.

You sit and talk about things for hours. How YouTube is, how his friends are, how he is feeling really, away from the cheery YouTube version of himself, you convincing him to just take a break for a little bit, cut down on his work load because you could see how tired he was and just how stressed he was because he just wanted to please his viewers.
Your conversation eventually came onto relationships, an ever slightly touchy subject since Simon hated your boyfriend, or now, ex-boyfriend. Simon had made it very clear from the beginning that he didn’t like him, your then boyfriend reciprocating the feelings.
You told Simon that you were no longer together, a small smile making its way onto his lips. But it slowly faded when he saw the upset look on yours, anger seeping around the both of you when you told him how he treated you towards the end, and how you ended it when you found him in bed with another girl.
He pulls you into a proper hug, resting his hand on the back of your head to keep it cuddled into him, kissing you gently on the head.
He held you for a while, a peaceful silence coming around you. He looked down at you when he felt your breathing even out, seeing your eyes gently closed shut and your lips parted slightly, a blissful look on your face.
He turned everything off, gently lifting you up, carrying you up to his room, tucking you under the blankets, which wasn’t unusual from the number of sleepovers you had had together.
He crawled in beside you, covering the both of you properly with his soft blankets, wrapping a strong arm around your middle, placing a kiss on your head.
“Sweet dreams love,” he whispered, relaxing behind you, not knowing you were half awake when he did it, both of you cuddling until you fell asleep properly.

You woke up to Simon lying beside you, scrolling through Twitter.
He turned his head to face your moving figure, a smile making its way onto his face at your sleepy expression.
“Morning,” he says, overly cheery for your mood, a groan leaving your lips, your hand coming up to hit over his mouth.
He chuckled, reaching up and pressing your hand to his mouth firmer, kissing your palm before letting go, locking his phone and cuddling into you.
You cuddled all morning, having a proper in depth chat about things that had been happening.
“So we talked about my love life last night, what’s happening with yours?” you said, tracing shapes with your finger on his bare chest.
He let out a short laugh, “Absolutely nothing.”
“Come on Si, something has to be happening.”
“I mean obviously there are girls about but they’re not really that interesting to me. I haven’t had a proper girlfriend in years purely because of my schedule. I’m so busy all the time, especially with travelling and events, I wouldn’t want to make them feel like they’re second to my job.” He explains, running his fingers gently up your arm.
“But I think I’ve gotten to the stage where I want to find a girl to properly try things with. I’ve done all the cool fun parts with my friends, now I just want to do those cool fun parts with my partner.”
“Do you have your eye on anyone?” you ask casually.
He nods lightly, “I don’t think she likes me back though.”
“Can I ask who it is?” you ask, feeling his heartrate pick up immensely under your ear on his chest.
You hear a small “Fuck,” leave his mouth.
You hear another mumble, although you couldn’t really make it out what he was saying.
You sit up to look at him, asking him to repeat himself.
“You,” he says, a strong pink blush marking his cheeks, a steady procession of the word ‘shit’ leaving his mouth.
He grabbed the edge of the blanket, pulling it over his head when you didn’t say anything in reply.
You smile to yourself, gently lifting the blanket, seeing Simon with his eyes clenched shut, not wanting to see your reaction.
You pulled the blanket over both of your heads, your head coming closer to his, feeling his light breath on your face.
You traced your finger over his facial features, coming to rest on his jaw, leaning in to very softly connect your lips.
Although he’s surprised at first his lips move in sync with yours easily, his hand coming up to run through your hair, both of you smiling into the kiss, happy that you finally got what you had both wanted since you were young.
His hands gently rested on your waist as you kissed, a slow passionate kiss, making up for all the times you’ve wanted to do this but haven’t been able to.
You hear someone open the door to his room, a gasp leaving their lips as you come from under the covers, falling into his chest at how obvious  what you were just doing was.
Simon looks up to see his mum standing in the doorway, a smirk on her lips.

“It’s about time.”

what's another embarrassing story you have?

Alright let’s talk about my last day of high school.

So like, my school had this program where seniors could actually leave school like a month and a half early and work as interns for people in the neighborhood or something (Senior Study? Community Study? I forget what it was called). Most people did it because, hey, getting out of school early AND if you did it you didn’t have to take final exams- but some people chose not to and some couldn’t do it. I couldn’t do it because, I think I had too many detentions (long story)? I don’t remember if that was the reasoning, but I didn’t actually wanna apply in the first place because the idea sounded lowkey terrifying to me at the time for whatever reason. So anyway, our grade had suddenly dropped from like hundreds of kids to like, maybe 15-20 something. So, naturally, everyone left had even more of  ‘Kings of the School/Senior Privilege’ attitudes than usual. We were mostly just dicking around at this point.

So basically, all the classes that were just seniors were like…anywhere from 2 to 5 people max. So the teachers kinda stopped paying attention too, and didn’t really even seem to realize who was there and who wasn’t. And high school was such an…exhausting time in my life that I was thrilled with this, I just wanted it to die already.

So we get to my final day, and I am relaxed to the max. All I had to worry about that day was my fifteen minute “Fault In Our Stars” play for Theater last period. I slept through most of my other classes, or texted my friends from other schools, or read, or ate candy. It was a great day. And after how tiring, stressful, and emotionally overwhelming high school had been, I was really loving this as my last day. I deserved this for my last day, you know? A nice, calm memory!

So, I’m in my forensics class, and it’s maybe 15 minutes to the bell but I was worried I might have had a chemical on my hand, so I asked to go to the bathroom. Mistake one: Not just waiting to go until after class. Mistake two: Leaving my phone in my bag instead of slipping it in my pocket.

So I go to the bathroom, it was like down two halls and on the corner kinda. I could see the doors that lead to the stairs on both ends, and the elevator, and the door to the upstairs gym from the entrance. I go in, wash my hands and I start to walk back out.

And the fucking alarm goes off.

Not the fire alarm, the “We have a gunman in the school” alarm. We were in full fucking lockdown.

Before I can even fucking react, All the doors are slammed closed. There’s a rule that teachers have to lock the door and cover it and not open it for anybody but the principal who knows a secret knock code, which I didn’t know. The doors to the stairways were closed, the gym was probably locked, and I wasn’t gonna risk an elevator. So I ran back into the deserted bathroom.

Now, here’s the thing- usually, when there’s a lockdown or a lockdown drill, comes over the loudspeaker and says whether it’s real or not, and if it’s a drill we’ll have been notified it was going to happen because the teachers tell us. My forensics teacher didn’t even give me a hall pass, so he clearly hadn’t been anticipating this. My school had only had an actual, real life lockdown once, and that ended up being a false alarm- it was right after Sandy Hook, someone looked on the grainy security camera to see some boys holding an umbrella like it was a gun, people panicked. Right now there was no announcement, just the alarms blaring, so I was freaking out.

And then I start fucking hearing someone pounding down the halls.

And I’m just like…not fucking today. I do not deal with all this bullshit just to die on my last God damn day of school. We are not doing this, Satan!

So some surge of need for survival that I’ve never experienced blasted through me, right? So I fucking run into one of the stalls, and brace my back against the wall, with one foot up on the toilet bowl and one foot on the paper dispenser, and my arms against the door and the far wall, so that when someone came in to see if people were in there, they looked under the doors and didn’t see any feet. The person eventually left but I didn’t get down because the alarm was still going.

I need you guys to understand how hard this was though. Like, first, I had to keep my head and neck at a painful angle so my hair wouldn’t be visible over the top of the stall. Also, I have like, a lot of back problems, and bad ankle, and shitty knees (I’m literally an 80 year old man), so to hold this position for 40 minutes as I ended up having to do was quite a fucking feet let me tell you.

And I was so fucking terrified while this was going on too. At this point I’m positive it’s not a drill, because those last 15 minutes tops. I didn’t have my phone on me so I couldn’t text anyone to see if they knew what was going on. Someone is still walking around and banging on doors, and I’m certain it’s not a police officer because wouldn’t they be talking???

And then all the sudden, the alarm shits off??? And the principal comes over and is like “Everything’s fine go to class” WITH NO GOD DAMN EXPLANATION, and I hear people moving through the halls and loudly freaking out about what just happened, and I am forced to come to terms with the fact my body has ceased up I literally can’t get out of this position. Oh my God.

Finally, after like ten minutes of using my one moveable leg to kick the wall in hopes of getting someone’s attention, some random girl comes in and hears me. She deadass had to climb under the stall and open the door to get it open before helping me down. She was cracking the fuck up the entire time and her friends who were using the other stalls were demanding to know what was going on like. Holy shit.

(side note: apparently it was a bomb threat but they ended up finding no evidence of anything in the school. Although, like? Wouldn’t you want to remove people from a building before looking for a bomb? Is that just me?)

So that was well and good, but then??? I guess she mentioned it to her older brother who was in my gov class??? Because next thing I know all the remaining seniors and some junior boys were going “YEAH JAVERTS A CHAMPION” and cracking up whenever they saw me that day. And like, I can appreciate the humor in it and was like “Oooh yeah I #SURVIVED” and all that but I was just. Cringing so hard the entire day. I only thought to respond to your ask with this story bc someone just messaged me about it on facebook. I’m never stepping inside a high school again omfg.

A Family Friend

A work based on @directium‘s Teenage Dadvid!AU

Summary: When Gwen got paired with the weird teenage dad for their history project, she didn’t know what to expect. Who could have guessed he would end up being her best friend?

Word Count: 5983

Gwen had only been at this school for about a month, but she didn’t like it much. It wasn’t necessarily any worse than her old school, but it wasn’t any better, either. At least at her old school, she still had her friends.

Her new friends weren’t bad, though. Well, maybe “friends” was too strong a word; she didn’t really know them that well, and she got the feeling that theirs was only a temporary sort of acquaintanceship. They got along fine during school hours, but she couldn’t really see them hanging out a couple years down the road.

Take Jen, for example. Gwen had met her in the history class they shared. They got along well enough; they both loved fashion, and gossip magazines, and trashy reality TV shows. But beyond that, there wasn’t much. Not enough to form a long lasting friendship. Still, she enjoyed hanging out with her, just chilling at lunch or exchanging snarky comments in class.

This particular class, they were being assigned a project. It was stupidly simple: make a presentation about whatever president you thought was the most influential. The teacher paired them up, to “lighten the load” or whatever. He sat at his desk, reading off the list of names. “Kate and Lisa. Jen and Daniel. Michelle and Gina. Gwen and David…”

Gwen stopped listening after that. David… which one was he again? She twisted around in her seat, scanning the room and trying to find a face to the name. A boy with reddish-brown hair caught her eye, flashing her a big smile. That would be him, her mind supplied. She’d never talked to him before; he seemed nice enough, though. Maybe a bit of a goody-two-shoes, but at least she wasn’t getting stuck with one of the idiotic assholes who drew dicks on the desks in the back of the room.

The teacher spent the last fifteen minutes of class explaining what he expected from them in far more detail than necessary, not that Gwen was listening. She stuffed her books into her bag, ready to leave the moment the bell rang. She had lunch next, and damn was she ready for a break. Luckily, this teacher wasn’t one of those horrendous “the bell doesn’t dismiss you, I do” jerks, so she was out of her seat the second she heard the bell.

“So you got paired with David, huh?” Jen said as they left the room. “Tough luck.”

“Why?” Gwen was confused at the sympathy in her tone, but then a spark of excitement struck up inside her. “Is there something wrong with him?” She always loved a good piece of gossip.

“I don’t know about wrong, per se; he’s just weird. He doesn’t really have any friends.”

So he was an outcast. There could be some drama there. “Why’s that?”

Jen shrugged. “Probably because he spends too much time taking care of that kid of his.”

Gwen stopped dead in her tracks. “He has a kid?” She half-twisted around to try to catch a glimpse of him as he left the classroom. He’d always seemed so mild-mannered and polite, definitely not the type to have a baby so young.

Jen nodded, pulling her arm to get her moving again. “It was a whole big thing that happened freshman year. I’m kind of surprised you didn’t hear about it already. Totally normal school year, nothing weird, nothing suspicious; we have a couple days off for Thanksgiving, and David comes back to school on Monday with a baby.”

“Whoa.” That was something she didn’t see coming. “So who’s the mother?”

“No one knows.”

“Seriously?”

“A bunch of kids have asked him, and I think Daniel even tried to steal his phone once to go through his texts, but he won’t say. And trust me, we’ve tried to figure it out ourselves. No dice. There were, like, one or two upper classmen who were pregnant at the time, but they didn’t have their kids until way later in the year.”

“Someone from a different school, then?”

“Must be.”

Gwen shook her head half in disbelief, trying to get used to the idea. “That is not something I would have expected.”

“It’s not something anyone expected,” Jen said. It was all the school had talked about for months after it had happened. “This is seriously the first you’re hearing of this?”

“Yeah.”

Jen hummed for a moment as she thought it over. “Well, I guess people don’t talk about it so much anymore.”

“That sucks,” Gwen sighed. “I want to hear about this shit.”

“Why don’t you ask him about it?”

“What?”

“You’re going to have to spend at least some time with David to get this stupid project done. Have him tell you about it then.”

“Do you think he would?” It seemed pretty personal, not the kind of information you’d hand out to a total stranger. Which, now that she thought about it, might be why he hadn’t really told any of the other kids anything.

“I don’t know. Aren’t parents always looking for excuses to brag about their kids?”

“I mean, I guess.” It was a little different than bragging, though.

Jen gave her a look that was borderline condescending. “You know I’m right. Just ask him. What’s the worst that could happen? He says no? Doesn’t want to talk to you?” She shrugged nonchalantly. “Not exactly a catastrophe. Now hurry up so we can get to the cafeteria already; I’m starving.”

The soonest Gwen managed to catch up with David ended up being just before their next history class. He was already at his desk when she came in, doing what looked like math homework.

“Hey,” Gwen said as she stopped next to him.

“Hi, Gwen,” David greeted brightly, looking up at her with a smile. “What’s up?”

“We need to find a time to work on this project.” It was due on Monday, after all. Not a whole lot of time to work, but then again, it seemed like the sort of project they could bang out in a couple of hours, so she wasn’t concerned. “Are you free after school?”

David shook his head, smile morphing into an apologetic half-frown. “I wish I could, but I have work.”

“How about this weekend?”

He thought for a moment. “Uh, yeah, I think that should be fine,” he said, though he didn’t sound very certain.

“Great. Saturday? My house?”

“Um, are you sure we couldn’t do it at my house? Or at, like, the library or something?”

“I don’t know my way around that well yet,” Gwen said with a small shake of her head. “Just come to mine, it’ll be easier.”

David bit his lip, looking a little uncomfortable all of a sudden. Gwen watched him fiddle with his pencil, and her eyebrows drew together in confusion. “What?”

“It’s just that I’d have to find someone to watch Max, and…”

He trailed off, and Gwen decided to take advantage of the moment to do a little digging.“Max is your son, right?”

David nodded. “His daycare isn’t open on weekends, and the last time I tried to get a sitter he was an absolute nightmare.” He sighed before continuing, talking to himself more than Gwen. “I guess I could try leaving him with Mrs. Duka again, but he won’t like that at all. Oh, that’s not a tantrum I want to deal with.”

“Why don’t you just bring him with you?”

“What?” David asked, attention snapping back to her. He looked almost shocked, as if he couldn’t believe she would suggest something like that.

“Bring him with you. I don’t mind.” Truth be told, she was actually pretty curious; to the rest of the school, David’s kid was old news, but this was the first she was hearing of it—old drama could still be good drama. Besides, no one had ever figured out who the kid’s mother was. It was almost guaranteed that Gwen wouldn’t know her, but that didn’t mean she couldn’t at least try to find out who it was. Maybe if she charmed him enough he’d spill.

“No, I couldn’t. Max is a handful, and he’s always making messes; I don’t want you to have to put up with that.”

“Bring him anyway; I want to meet him.”

“I—really?” His eyebrows drew together in confusion, and honestly, was it really so inconceivable that someone else was interested in his kid?

“Sure, why not?” Gwen didn’t exactly love kids, but she’d live if David brought his for one afternoon.

“O-okay.”

“Okay. See you Saturday. Maybe around one?” she said, writing her address down on the top of David’s paper.

“Yeah, see you Saturday,” he echoed bewilderedly as he watched Gwen walk back to her desk.

***

David stepped off the bus with Max in his arms and started walking towards Gwen’s street. Thankfully Max hadn’t been too difficult so far, but David didn’t expect his good mood to last.

“Remember, Max, we’re going to be on our best behavior today. So that means no screaming, no throwing things, and you’re going to listen to me, okay?”

Max gave a sharp kick to David’s side. “I wanna walk,” he whined.

David sighed. “If I let you walk, will you promise to behave?”

Max nodded, his curls bouncing adorably. David doubted that he actually meant it, but let him down anyway. There was no real reason not to let him walk, and besides, it’d let him get at least some of his energy out.

“No running, now, alright?” David told him, so of course the first thing Max did once his feet hit the ground was take off sprinting. David rolled his eyes and sped up a bit, watching Max carefully to make sure he wasn’t about to go somewhere he shouldn’t.

Max stayed on the sidewalk, but David should have expected that that was where his cooperation would end. Soon enough, Max had reached the curb. He stopped for a moment, like he was trying to figure out where to go next. “Wait for me there,” David called to him. Max, however, had other plans, turning the corner and starting to run again.

“No! Max!” David yelled after him, Max’s mischievous laughter drifting back to him. David upped his pace to a jog so he could catch Max before he got too far away. When he rounded the corner and saw Max toddling wobbily down the street, clearly pleased with himself, he let out an amused sigh before resuming his jog.

David caught up to him with a play-roar. He grabbed Max around the waist and pulled him back against his chest, leaning in to blow a raspberry on his cheek. Max giggled, batting uselessly at David’s face and trying to squirm away. He twisted around to face David with a smile. David smiled back affectionately and gave him a quick kiss on the forehead. “Come on, little monster,” he said, standing up. “We need to go this way.”

David took his hand and started to lead them back in the right direction. He had to slow his pace considerably so that Max could keep up, but that was nothing new. “So what do you want to do after Daddy’s done with his work today?”

“Get ice cream!” Max shouted, looking up at David with a wide grin.

David gasped, pretending to be shocked. “Ice cream? In March?” Granted, it was a pretty warm day for March, but that didn’t mean he couldn’t have a little fun with his kid about it.

Max nodded enthusiastically. “Yeah!”

“No, we couldn’t.”

“But I want it,” he pleaded, putting on the puppy-dog eyes he knew David was weak for.

David tried to find the willpower to resist, but it was no good. “Okay,” he eventually relented, “but only if you’re super good today. Deal?”

Max’s grin was back as he nodded in agreement, and David couldn’t help but smile in return. The kid was just too cute for him to handle, sometimes.

When they reached Gwen’s street, he started scanning the house numbers. He found Gwen’s easily enough, not too far from the street corner. The second he stepped onto the front path, however, Max changed his mind about their outing. He’d been fine with it when they left, but now he lagged as far behind David as he could. David had to practically pull him up the steps; Max dug his heels into the ground, but it did very little good.

Safely on the top step, David released Max’s hand, and he immediately latched on to his pant leg. As he pushed the bell, chimes echoing throughout the house, he felt the kid press his face into the backs of his knees. He gave his head a gentle pat, listening to the quiet thump of footsteps approach the door.

The door swung open, and David flashed Gwen a smile. “Hey,” he said. “Sorry we’re a little late.”

Gwen rolled her eyes. “Barely. It’s only been, like, six minutes.”

David shrugged. “I like to be on time.”

She was about to wave him inside when she noticed the little boy watching her from behind David’s legs. She put on a friendly smile, leaning down a little so she wouldn’t tower over him quite so much. “You must be Max.”

“Oh, yeah!” David said happily. He stepped to the side and crouched down, placing a hand on the boy’s back to gently push him forward. “Max, this is my friend Gwen,” he introduced her. “She’s the one who invited us over today.”

“It’s nice to meet you,” Gwen said with a sweetness that did not come naturally to her, taking a moment to really take in Max’s appearance. She had to admit, he was pretty cute. He didn’t look anything like David, though. The only feature they shared were the green eyes, but even then, the shades were nowhere near similar.

Max stared up at her, looking almost angry.

“Say hello, Max,” David gently instructed. When he didn’t listen, David took on a firmer tone. “Max.”

“Hi,” he eventually mumbled, leaning into David’s side.

David rubbed his back a bit and smiled up at Gwen before standing back up. She took that as the cue to move things along. “Well, come on in,” she offered, moving out of the doorway so that they could pass.

“Thanks,” David said, taking Max’s hand and leading him inside. “Should we take our shoes off?”

“It doesn’t matter.”

He considered it for a second, glancing down at Gwen’s socked feet, before kneeling to untie his sneakers. “Take your shoes off, Max.”

Max stomped his foot. “I don’t wanna,” he protested.

“Remember what we talked about? Best behavior.”

Max huffed, crossing his arms and pouting. David pulled his own shoes off and debated what to do with Max. Normally, he’d insist he take his shoes off, which would undoubtedly lead to a tantrum. At home he could deal with that, but he didn’t want Gwen’s first impression of his kid to be a screaming, screeching mess.

After a moment, David decided the best thing to do would be to take Max’s shoes off for him. He reached over and pulled up the velcro straps on the boy’s tiny sneakers. Max didn’t seem particularly happy as David lifted his legs to pull off his shoes, but he didn’t fight it either.

Gwen watched them together; it was a little weird. She couldn’t even picture herself taking care of a younger sibling like that at this age, let alone a kid of her own. She elected not to comment on it. “We can work in the dining room,” she said instead, leading the way.

She and her family were mostly unpacked, but there were still a few boxes hanging around that they hadn’t gotten to yet. The dining room was the cleanest room they had at the moment, not a box to be seen. Gwen sat down on the far side of the table, where she had her notes and textbook waiting to be used, and David sat opposite her. He pulled his own books and a laptop out of his bag, which he left open on the floor.

Max followed David into the room, hovering beside his chair. He looked like he didn’t really want to be there.

“Think you can play quietly for a bit?” David asked him. Max could be a little unpredictable in the ways he played—sometimes he was a tornado of energy, screaming and running and damaging furniture; other days he was content to sit on David’s lap and pretend to work like him.

Max nodded as he dug through David’s bag, pulling out a plastic dinosaur and a toy car. David studied his the toys he choose with the slightest bit of a frown. He’d probably be quiet enough, but if he was playing with his car he’d be all over the place; he’d have a hard time keeping an eye on the kid and getting his work done at the same time.

Luckily, he’d had quite a bit of practice with this sort of thing. It was how he worked at home, glancing up every couple of minutes to make sure Max didn’t leave the room or accidentally tip anything over.

It was no small relief to him that Max never strayed too far. He stayed on his side of the table, crawling underneath the chairs but never going more than a few feet away. From what he could tell, Max was having his car be chased by the dinosaur—why, he had no idea. But Max seemed entertained enough, and the only noise he was making were quiet vroom sounds, so he supposed the particulars of what he was playing didn’t really matter.

David looked up at Gwen with a bright smile, pen tapping on a clean sheet of paper, ready to start writing. The fact that he was so eager to work actually pissed Gwen off a little. Seriously? she thought, raising an eyebrow. David just smiled wider.

“Anyway,” she said, pulling over her textbook and flipping to an appendix in the back. “First things first: who are we going to do this on?” She glanced over the list of presidents, not that she really remembered who had done what.

David followed her lead, turning to the same list in his book. “Well,” he said, “there are a lot of obvious ones: Washington, Lincoln, FDR… Do you care if we end up doing someone a bunch of other groups have done?”

“I literally could not care less.”

He nodded, quickly glancing over at his son before turning his attention back to the book. “In that case, maybe FDR? There should be a lot to work with.”

“Sure. Whatever.”

“Do you want to start with a short biography?”

“Do we have to?” she almost whined.

“I think so,” David said as he opened up a new slide show for them to work in.

“Fantastic,” was her flat reply, skimming through the later pages of the book to find the right chapter. David gave her a half-smile and did the same.

They were able to get through a decent portion of their project before Max started acting up, kicking the legs of David’s chair. “Stop that, Max,” he said without looking up from his laptop. Max made a frustrated sound, but didn’t stop. “Max,” he warned, but the kicks continued. He looked down at the kid, face displeased and voice firm. “Max, I said stop.”

Max’s face scrunched up, and David could tell that he was just moments away from a tantrum. He’d been so good today; what happened? Wait… shit. David glanced at his watch and nearly groaned. It was 3:34. How could he have been so stupid?

“Sorry, he’s just a little cranky,” David explained, mentally berating himself. “I usually would have put him down for his nap half an hour ago.”

It was a little weird to hear him talk like that; to watch him switch from (mostly) normal teen to father in the blink of an eye. As far as Gwen was concerned, nap times were things that adults worried about, not people her age. But somehow, it seemed natural for him to be acting like that.

Well, if David could be mature, so could she. Max needed a nap? Why not just let him take a nap? “He can sleep in my room,” she offered.

David shook his head. “No, it’s fine. I’d rather have him where I can keep an eye on him, anyway; he gets into trouble a lot.” Leaning down on his chair, he grabbed Max around the waist. “Come here, li'l monster,” he growled playfully, scooping the kid up onto his lap and planting a kiss on the top of his head.

Max squirmed a bit, but didn’t otherwise fight him. His eyelids were drooping as he looked up at David. David smiled, brushing some of the hair out of Max’s face. “It’s nap time for you, mister,” he said, gentle but firm.

Max whined, putting on what David was starting to think of as his signature pout. “Not sleepy,” he objected drowsily.

David chuckled a bit. “Too bad,” he said, pulling Max in to lean against his chest. He ignored the kid’s continued whining, switching his focus almost entirely back to his work. He did start lightly rubbing Max’s back, though; within minutes, he was asleep.

Gwen watched them over the top of her textbook. With Max asleep, it was the perfect time to ask some questions. After all, the main reason she’d wanted David to bring Max over here was so she could figure out who his mom was. But something was holding her back. Against all her expectations, she was starting to like David; he wasn’t that bad of a guy. A little weird, sure, and way too enthusiastic about everything, but he was nice. All of the things she wanted to know were extremely personal, and she was feeling a little bad about asking him to tell her all of that.

Her curiosity won out over her guilt. “So I gotta ask… Max’s mom…?”

David sighed; he’d expected the topic to come up sooner or later—it always did. He’d lost track of how many random kids at school had come up to him and demanded he “tell them everything,” just wanting something else to add to the rumor mill (and yes, he knew all about the rumors, and the gossip, and the wild speculations). He usually deflected, or shot the question down with a simple “that’s not really any of your business.” But Gwen was different; he liked her. He could easily see them becoming friends, which is something he couldn’t say for anyone else. He wanted to be open with her. “Honestly, I don’t know.”

“You… don’t know?”

David shook his head. “I don’t know who either of his birth parents are.”

“Birth parents?” The look on Gwen’s face was one of confusion, shock, and maybe a little horror. “I’m sorry, did some crazy agency seriously let you adopt a kid when you were fourteen?”

“No, it wasn’t like that.” David’s heart twinged painfully, the same way it did every time he thought about that night. He wrapped both of his arms around Max, hugging him close. “I was walking home from school one night and I found him. In a dumpster. His parents had thrown him in there and left him to die.” His throat started closing in on itself and he swallowed thickly, pleading with himself not to cry. “I know I should have taken him to the police or something, gotten him placed in foster care, but… My own parents gave up on me when I was ten. I know what it feels like to not be wanted by anybody. It’s kind of hard to explain, but I couldn’t be yet another person to just pass him along before he was even a week old! I couldn’t set him up for that sort of life.”

Gwen was at a loss for words. “Wow,” she whispered. What else was there to say to that?

David sighed again. “I know it probably doesn’t make much sense, adopting some random kid when you’re barely older than a kid yourself. But I just couldn’t do that to him, you know?”

Not really, Gwen thought, but nodded anyway. “He seems like a good kid,” she said after a while, uncomfortable with the silence.

David let out a short laugh. “You’re just lucky you caught him on a good day.”

“Oh?” Gwen said, raising an eyebrow in an open invitation for elaboration.

David gave her a half smile. “There’s a reason I call him ‘monster.‘”

“Do tell.”

“I would, but I’m pretty sure that would take the rest of the afternoon.”

“He’s that bad, huh?”

David shrugged. “I’d like to say it’s just the Terrible Twos, but he’s been fussy for as long as I’ve had him.” David’s eyes went soft, looking down at his son. “Still,” he said quietly, “I can’t say I’ve ever regretted it.”

They were silents for a few moments before a new question popped into Gwen’s head “Sorry, it’s just… why keep it some big secret?”

He looked back up at her, confusion evident. “What do you mean?”

“You could’ve just told everyone that you found him instead of, like, making it seem like you were trying to hide something. You wouldn’t’ve had to deal with everyone asking all the time.”

David took a second to choose his words. “Max is going to feel bad enough knowing that he was abandoned. He doesn’t need other people to make him feel bad for it, too.”

Gwen went quiet; she hadn’t thought of it like that. It was so easy to forget that kids were people, too. What must it feel like to know that your parents had literally thrown you out? She could imagine all of the gossip the story would spark, and poor Max would be the one to suffer most from it. It seemed almost noble for David to be shielding him from all of that.

Max was asleep for about an hour. He was a lot more subdued when he woke up, sitting quietly on David’s lap and watching him work. Every so often he would point at something on David’s screen, demanding to know what it was and what David was doing with it. Gwen smiled as she listened to him try to explain US history at a level a two-year-old could understand.

Eventually the little boy started getting antsy, so David put him down again. He reached into David’s bag and pulled out a pad of paper and a box of crayons, sitting down under his chair to draw. David watched him for a moment to make sure he was settled before turning back to Gwen so they could finish up their work.

They were just putting the final touches on it when Gwen heard the front door opening. “I’m home,” her mom called, coming up the all.

“Hey, Mom,” she called back.

Her mom came closer, turning the corner to peer into the dining room. She had her mouth open, ready to say something, but stopped when she saw David. “Oh, hello. You must be David. It’s nice to meet you,” she said, reaching out to shake his hand when she spotted Max sitting under David’s chair. “And who is this?” she cooed, bending over to smile at him. “Aren’t you just the sweetest thing?” Max stared back at her, pouting grumpily.

David grinned. “This is Max,” he told her before leaning over a bit to catch Max’s eye. “You want to come out and say hello?”

Max stayed put under David’s chair, eyeing the woman warily. She looked like one of those women who always came over and pinched his cheeks whenever David took him out somewhere. He hated having his cheeks pinched.

David gave her an apologetic look. “Sorry, he doesn’t like meeting new people that much.”

“Oh, you don’t have to apologize. I remember those days well enough from when Gwen was little.” She ignored her daughter’s spluttered “Mom!”, continuing as if nothing had happened. “It’s so sweet of you to be taking care of your little brother for the day.”

Gwen winced, but David was unaffected. Enough people had made the same mistake that he’d gotten over the awkwardness of the situation a long time ago. “Actually, Max is my son.”

“Oh,” she said, taken aback. “I’m so sorry. I-I just assumed…”

David smiled reassuringly. “It’s alright. I know it’s a little weird for someone my age to have a kid.”

She cleared her throat awkwardly, wracking her brain for something to say. “He’s adorable,” she eventually managed.

“Thank you.” David’s smile never faltered. Gwen’s mom gave him a small nod before retreating into the kitchen. He watched her go before turning back to Gwen, still smiling. She opened her mouth to say something, apologize maybe, but David lifted his hand to stop her. It’s fine, he managed to say without speaking.

Gwen nodded absently, turning her gaze down to the table. She felt bad, even though she told herself she shouldn't—David wasn’t upset, she hadn’t been the one to make the mistake, there was no way her mom could have known; it didn’t matter. The silence between them stretched on, and Gwen hated every second of it.

“I’m thinking spaghetti for dinner tonight,” Gwen’s mom called from the kitchen after a few moments.

“Sounds good,” Gwen called back. She glanced up at David, and suddenly it seemed a little rude to be talking about this in front of him just as he was about to leave. “Do you want to stay for dinner?”

“No, that’s okay; I wouldn’t want to impose.”

“It’s no imposition,” Gwen’s mom quickly assured him, trying to make up for her gaffe.

“Believe me, it is. Max is very picky; half the time I can’t even get him to eat anything at home. It’s very nice of you to offer, but it’ll be easier if we just go.”

“Are you sure?” Gwen asked, feeling almost disappointed.

David nodded. “Thanks, though.”

He saved the slide show one last time before closing his laptop, sliding it and his books back into his bag. He leaned over to look at Max, telling him, “It’s time to go, now. Clean up your toys.”

“Do I hafta?” Max whined, pouting up at David.

“Once we’re all cleaned up, we can head to Prof’s for dinner,” he bargained. Prof’s was a diner the two of them liked; it was far from healthy, and usually David tried to avoid feeding Max that sort of junk, but he figured he deserved some sort of treat for being so well behaved all day. Besides, he was running out of foods Max ate at home.

“…okay,” he said quietly, even though he didn’t look particularly taken with the idea. His pout stayed stubbornly in place as he reluctantly began to gather up his things.

David let out a barely-audible sigh of relief, thanking his lucky stars that Max wasn’t fighting him on this. In fact, all things considered, he’d been almost unbelievably good all day. David didn’t know what he’d done for karma to grant him such a cooperative kid today, but it must have been something amazing.

Max shoved his toys into David’s bag, handing him his drawings so they wouldn’t get crumpled. David did a quick once-over of the floor to make sure nothing had been overlooked. Thus assured that Max had gotten everything, he zipped his bag closed and stood up, hefting it onto his shoulder. “C'mon, let’s go put our shoes on.”

David made his way back into the front hall, Max following quietly behind him. When David knelt down to pull on his sneakers, the kid hovered at his back, glancing behind them every couple of seconds. Gwen had followed them into the hall, stopping a few feet away at the edge of the den. She watched them, for lack of a better thing to look at.

When David had finished tying his shoes, he stood up, guiding his son towards proper politeness. “Max, you want to say thanks to Gwen for having us over?”

Max was still for a moment, eyeing the stack of papers David was holding, before he stood up on his toes to reach for them. David dropped his arm down, trying to figure out what Max wanted with the papers. After a moment, it clicked. “You want to give her one of your drawings?” Max nodded, so David spread the pictures out for him to look at. “Which one do you want to give her?”

The kid looked over his options for a moment before selecting one. He studied it briefly, then shyly slid into David’s side. He turned his gaze over to Gwen, who was staring at a photo hung on the wall and pretending like she wasn’t listening.

David gave Max a reassuring smile and nudged him towards Gwen. “Go ahead,” he said softly.

Max shuffled over to Gwen, pulling on her pants leg to get her attention. “Gwen?”

She smiled down at him. “Yes, Max?”

He looked up at her nervously for a moment before holding the drawing up for her.

Gwen gasped, as if she hadn’t been standing right there while he and David were discussing it. “Is this for me?” she asked, feigning surprise.

Max nodded, watching her like he was trying to gauge her reaction.

“It’s beautiful! Oh, I love it! Thanks so much,” she gushed, and Max beamed. Truth be told, she had no idea what it was supposed to be a picture of; it was just a bunch of multicolored scribbles. Not that she was going to let on about that—he was just a kid, after all.

She caught David’s eye as he walked over to them, flashing him a small smile which he eagerly returned. He stopped behind his son, resting a hand on the back of his head. Max twisted around to look up at him, smile brighter than the sun.

“She liked it!” he exclaimed happily, bouncing excitedly on the balls of his feet.

“That’s awesome, bud!” he said, giving Max’s hair a quick ruffle. The boy giggled, a sound that was music to his ears. “But we have to go now. Why don’t you go put on your shoes?” Max turned his head to look from Gwen to him, still smiling proudly, before walking towards the door and plopping down on the floor, grabbing his shoes to put on.

“You should feel honored,” David told Gwen, watching Max to make sure he didn’t need any help.

“Why’s that?”

David smiled. “You’re the first person he’s ever given a picture to.”

That probably shouldn’t have made her as happy as it did. “I’ll treasure it forever,” she half-joked, holding the drawing over her heart.

He chuckled lightly, turning his attention back to Max. He had his shoes on and was waiting for him by the door. “All set to go, monster?”

Max nodded as David and Gwen walked over to him. Gwen pulled open the door for them; it had cooled off considerably since the afternoon. David pulled Max’s hoodie out of his bag and helped the kid put it on, glad that he had brought it despite the warmth of the afternoon.

“See you on Monday,” David said to Gwen as he took Max’s hand, leading him down the steps.

“Bye Gwen!” Max yelled to her, far too loud.

Gwen smiled and waved back. “See ya!” she called. As she shut the door, she made a mental note to pick up some kid-friendly foods for Max to have when she invited them back next weekend.

Shawn liked driving.

It was like he could forget about everything while driving and listening to his favorite tunes, whether it was a cloudy day listening to John Mayer or a perfect sunny day where he turned on the volume at its max and didn’t give a crap about what was going on outside the doors of his Jeep.

But this time was different; the inside of his car was eerily quiet, the only audible thing was his breaths. It didn’t feel like he was actually driving, his eyes couldn’t process the streets or the lights flashing in front of him.

All that was in his mind was tears, yelling and the awful feeling of his heart breaking.

Speaking as a bisexual woman who is female leaning, I love Rooster Teeth. I am so happy for the LBGT pride shirt (even fi I’m broke and can’t buy it) because it’s them recognizing those parts of the audience. Is it pandering? Yeah, they’re a business. They’re gonna take advantage of an opportunity. It doesn’t mean that they don’t care about those members of their community. The fact that they are even selling to that part when many companies do not says something. And they announced this at the LGBT panel, which yes that exists and they have a good number of people on it, and that made me really happy,

Which is why seeing the RT/RWBY fandom accuse them of being homophobic angers me. Look, I get it Representation is a HUGE thing. As much as I love RT, they absolutely should include more. Day 5, from what I have seen online cause as a non-First I can’t watch it, has a lesbian main character. Actually I DO know because Josh Flanagan made a journal post explaining how he realized that he should incorporate that. But I still see why one example still angers people, especially on the RWBY end. But does not including more mean homophobic? Hell no it doesn’t.

As I said, RT HAS LGBT employees who, from what I have seen, all enjoy workig there. Kdin (trans), Max (gay), Mica (bi), Patrick (gay), Mariel (lesbian), and I’m pretty sure I missed a few. Various RT employees (Barbara, Michael, Ashley, Burnie) either work and/or have expressed being supportive of those people before. Burnie has even expressed regretting using slurs that cane be offensiv e int he past (I’ve never heard him sue them, but going off early RvB I can believe that he did and eventually realzied that he was wrong to do so and grew up). Burnie, Barbara, and Michael have used female pronouns for Kdin. Michael once corrected Gavin for using male pronouns. Barbara runs Always Open, a podcast that has tried to be LGBT friendly, has Mariel on regularly as Barbara’s co-host, Mica is a semi-regular, and Max and Patrick have also been on a couple times. Ashley has both Mica and Kdin working in her division and from what I’ve seen before, treats them as regular people. Jon Risinger has used correct pronouns for Kdin and has had various LGBT employees (Max and Patrick have been on pretty frequent actually) on On the Spot and treated them as he would anyone else who has been on. At this year’s RTX, a female fan of RWBY expressed how coming out (IDK as what but that’s beside the point) made her family abandon her. Their reaction? Lindsay, Arryn, and Miles (aka the terrible queerbating writer or so fandom likes to say) ran off stage before she was even done talking to hug her with Barbara also following. Kerry was outright crying during it. Tell em that these people are homophobic. Go ahead and try.to tell em that these people are homophobic after that. Just try it.

Again, I understand. Representation is important. More can be done and should be done. We shouldn’t quit asking RT to continue to add more diversity. But they absolutely support and love their LGBT fans and have LGBT hires who from what I can tell, are very happy to be there and all I’ve seen in BtS stuff and podcasts, they are treated like everyone else. We should keep asking for mroe inclusion, but remember to be civil about it, so stop throwing ‘homophobic’ around. Let them grow and evolve to improve more because they are absolute on the right track especially compared to the early days. Heck I only listed ones we know about, RT has over 200 employees we don’t see regularly so there are probably more that we just don’t see. But please, keep telling them to include LGBT representation, but do NOT be an asshole about it. And if you want to show that? But the LGBT shirt. Pandering or not, it will tell them that you want more representation and that will tell them that they should. And than you RT for being a great company and please keep doing what you do best.

AH JAMILTON!!!!!

  • How did they they meet?: They met at work when Washington put them both on a project together. They didn’t exactly hit it off.
  • Who developed romantic feelings first?:Thomas does. He has an instant attraction to Alex but it’s lessened when Alex is the biggest asshole in the entire world but by the end of the first project they worked on together Thomas developed a small crush on the small, brilliant, abrassive man.
  • Who is their biggest “shipper?”:Peggy is their biggest shipper in that she is the one constantly pushing Alex to ‘get some’ and Peggy is the first to notice that the ‘some’ that Alex wants is Thomas.
  • When did they have their first kiss and under what circumstances?: They had their first kiss a year after having met. They were working together again. They fought like cats and dogs when working together but no one could deny that the quality of work that they produced was incredible. So they were paired up often. They grew to respect each other so working together became less of a chore. This opens Alex up to unsupress his desire to have sex with Thomas and Alex kisses him in the middle of a discussion about the pros and cons of a national bank.
  • Who confessed their feelings first?: Alex did it first technically because he was the first to express his feelings when he kissed Thomas butThomas was the first to verbalize his feelings. Quickly following Alex kissing him Thomas asks him if he’s serious or just fucking around because he wants to be serious.
  • What was their first official date?: Their first date is a semi-awkward dinner date at La Grenouille which is the most exclusive French restraunt in NYC. They have dinner and it’s fine then they opt to walk home instead of cathcing a cab and their conversation picks up because the more casual setting. They end up walking in circles around Central Park and neither get home until well past one am.
  • How do they feel about double dates/group dates?: They aren’t fans exactly because they don’t mingle well with each other’s friend groups.
  • What do they do in their down time?: At home Alex curls up against Thomas’s side on the couch writing on his laptop while Thomas watches tv or does some work of his own. Alex also spends a lot of time in his office.
  • What was the first meeting of parents as an official couple like?: Alex meeting the Jefferson’s was a experience to say the least. Thomas’s dad didn’t approve of the relationship and they had a major pissing contest. Thomas’s mom on the other hand falls in love with Alex. Alex is a little uncomfortable because he isn’t used to being mothered (besides by his friends).
  • What was their first fight over and how did they get past it?: Their first fight actually took about a three weeks to happen which was shocking to even them that it took that long. It was over Thomas moving too fast and Alex being afraid of commitment. They stop speaking for about two days before Thomas shows up at Alex’s doorstep to apologize. Alex tells him that he doesn’t have to be sorry because they were both dicks in the situation.
  • Which one is more easily made jealous?: Alex, the man who flirts with anyone who crosses his path, is the most jealous person you’ll ever meet. If he sees someone even look at Thomas he becomes the most obnoxious boyfriend ever. He just draped himself across Thomas and hangs off of him as if claiming him.
  • What is their favourite thing to get to eat?: Take-out is their go to. Thomas loves mac n cheese but they never have the time to cook. Chinese is the usual but they’ll get the occasional pizza.
  • Who’s the cuddly one?: When they first started sleeping together they went to sleep on the opposite side of the bed but every morning woke up tangled together. Alex is always the one who somehow wrapped himself around Thomas in the night. Gradually they begin to get closer and closer while they’re awake and eventually they get into bed a start cuddling immediatly.
  • What their favourite cuddling position?: They have three. There is the classis big spoon/little spoon in which Thomas curls around Alex and cacoons him. Second is where Alex jetpacks Thomas. Then the third is them chest to chest with Alex’s legs wrapped around Thomas’s waist and Alex’s forehead resting on Thomas’s chest.
  • Are they hand holders?: Alex isn’t a hand holder naturally but he adjust to hand holding once he started dating Thomas who was a hand holder to the max. They keep in professional at work but on dates they don’t let go of each others hands. They’ll spend an entire movie holding hands without letting go once.
  • How long do they wait before sleeping together for the first time? What’s the circumstances? They start sleeping together almost instantly. After that initial kiss at work they have sex that night. It’s not romantic, it’s more passionate. Heat of the moment that is quick and dirty and sweaty.
  • Who tops?: Alex tops and I’m very certain of this. Alex is a switch and is willing to top/bottom but Thomas is a hard set bottom and that isn’t changing.
  • Who does the shopping and the cooking?: Alex does the most shopping. This is mainly because he needs to get out the house. They switch off on cooking. Every other weekend Alex will cook, then Thomas, then maybe take-out another week.
  • Which one is more organized and prone to tidiness?: Alex is mentally more organized but a disastor on the outside. His workspace is chatotic but he claims to know where eveything is. Thomas is more tidy outwardly. He picks up Alex’s clothes that he drops on the floor. He doesn’t like cleaning up after Alex but he feels the need to.
  • Who proposes?: Thomas proposed. Alex had never thought about marriage before Thomas proposed but he had considered the fact that he wanted to sped the rest of his life with Thomas. (Thomas may have gotten the idea to propose after Alex drunkenly proposed to him with a ring pop and didn’t remember the next morning).
  • Do they have joined Bachelor/Bacheloette parties or separate?: The rev set insists that they are able to throw Alex a separate Bachelor party. They go all out. Thomas sets ground rules thought. Including: no strip clubs, no strippers, no drugs (even the weaker ones), and no blacking out drunk because if Alex showed up hungover to their wedding Thomas would be pissed.
  • Who is the best man/maid of honour? Any other groomsmen or bridesmaids? : Alex’s Best Man & Groomsemen: John, Laf and Herc. Thomas’s Best Man & Groomsmen: James, John Adams and James Monroe (Alex is not happy with his choice in wedding party).
  • Big Ceremony or Small?: They have a huge ceremony consisting of their families and every other person they have ever met because they’ve gotta keep up their political affiliations.
  • Do they have a honeymoon? If so, where?: They honeymoon in Paris. Alex thinks it’s a waste of money because they spend a majority of of the time in their hotel room but Thomas insisted.
  • Do they have children? How many?: They do have kids. Three. Two boys and a girl.
