— “Conflict. As the world tethered on the brink of anarchy a new hope arose. An elite international taskforce, charged with ending the war and restoring liberty to all nations. Overwatch. Soldiers. Scientists. Adventurers. Oddities. Guardians who secured global peace for a generation. Under its steadfast protection the world recovered. And today, though its watch has ended, its sowing ideals of freedom and equality will never be forgotten.”

Neighbor POV

I don’t know when I’ll get around to actually writing this, but I have this idea floating around that I love: Jack’s new neighbors making wrong inferences based on what bits (heh) they overhear.

• At first they’re a bit awe-struck/leery when this famous hockey player moves in. At this point, he’s not really a ::person:: to them yet, he’s still a character. But one by one they figure out that contrary to whatever the media is peddling, Jack Zimmermann is an awkward dork, so the majority of their floor secretly adopts him. They may or may not take turns spilling coffee on or ‘bumping into’ any paps who camp outside their building. Jack never figures this out
• 'I heard him talking to a Betty or Betsy the other day!’ Cue joy, bc they were starting to worry that he needed friends outside of the Falcs roster
• Then August rolls in with the overwhelming scent of cinnamon and sugar
• They immediately joke that Jack Zimmermann is dating Betty Crocker
• Someone bumps into a new blonde kid in the elevator with his arms absolutely ::laden:: with grocery bags (so much butter), and they assume it’s someone new to the building til he gets off on their floor, too, and then oh, OH he juggles the bags to take out a key to Jack’s place, and— then their partner drags them around the corner and lectures them for gawking
• look, they live in a nice building with thick walls, but LORD they can still hear the bass line of Partition
• Jack’s immediate neighbors are a married couple, and at first they were a bit leery of this new (big) jock’s reaction, but he didn’t treat them any different than the other neighbors (which was with admittedly more of a distant [tired] politeness, but eventually they all figured out he wasn’t aloof, the poor boy just had zero social skills) so for the longest time, they thought Jack didn’t realize they were a gay couple and was instead assuming they were just roommates. But then one night they were dressed to the nines, on their way out to celebrate their anniversary, and they ran into Jack in the elevator. And over the sound of the elevator music, on their way down to the lobby, Jack asked (wistfully?) 'Date night, eh?’ And the couple look each other in the eye before they admit it’s their tenth anniversary. Jack beams, offers his congratulations, and asks where they’re heading. Later, they find out that their fancy meal had been paid for, along with a pre-ordered slice of celebratory pie that 'passes muster’
• They all keep seeing the blonde kid, and they all learn that he’s the sweetest, kindest kid ever, always real helpful if ever anyone’s struggling with their bags or trying to wrangle over-excited dogs, but he really seems like he’s trying to hold back. If ever any paps are camped out, he goes real pale and ghosts. He never introduces himself.
• Finally, someone overhears Jack call the kid 'Bitty’ and it all just clicks.

…I can’t decide which way I want to take it from here? Do they all agree to become their secret-keeper? Do they go out of their way to distract the paps as much as to protect this Bitty as they do for Jack? Or do the couple next door gently offer their congratulations, to let them know they have their support? All I know is they organize a floor-wide party to celebrate when Jack and Bitty come out, and Jack realizes how much he has his neighbors’ support, and (I need him to know this) how much they’ve become his friends, too.

You know what? Fuck beauty contests. Life is one fucking beauty contest after another. School, then college, then work… Fuck that. And fuck the Air Force Academy. If I want to fly, I’ll find a way to fly. You do what you love, and fuck the rest.

Little Miss Sunshine | 2006 | dir. Jonathan Dayton, Valerie Faris

It’s so strange to look back at the summer before coming to college…my life has changed so much since. I can honestly say I did not partake in the freshman 15 and have loved living where I have constant support from friends, a gym membership, and healthy food readily available to me. It’s been a long road, but I’m sure glad I took it.

You weren’t supposed to fall in love. (Not again, at least.)

All you were supposed to do was fake a smile, look good on his arm, and make everyone believe that you were in love.

Nowhere in your agreement did it say to enjoy the warmth of his arms, the smile that curves on his beautiful reddened lips, the sound of his deep, guttural voice whether it was when he was talking or singing or even whispering sweet nothings in your ear. It was all supposed to be a simple exchange where you finally got to see your best friend, not revisit feelings you shoved away when you were in high school. But maybe the heart wants what it wants. Maybe you just liked the thrill of doing things that you shouldn’t or the way he made you feel just from a mere hand on your hip or caress of his fingertips brushing back a wild strand of hair…

Everything about Shin Hoseok was positively the worst and best thing that could’ve happened to you, and it’s his damn proposition to blame, unless you want to get more technical then maybe it was the moment he entered your life.

When my college career ended, I told everyone “never again” I was also told “you can never run like you use to after a year like yours”.

Well guess what:

I’ve now been running consistently 6 days a week. I haven’t done that since I was a sophomore in college.

There’s just something that after the high demands and standards, after that all leaves you’re left with what you fell in love with in the first place…

The run.

There’s no more boundaries
Pace or mileage requirements

It’s just what you do that day

Whether it’s 1 mile or 13

You best bet you enjoyed your run

I can’t promise every run will be good
Or every run will be horrible

That’s life, it all has its ups or downs

Just love the run.

If you’ve ever wondered how much of an asshole my roommate is, in the hour I spent doing calc homework without cell signal, she sent me the transcriptions of the following: The Gettysburg address, The lyrics to 5 Jon Cozart songs, And last but not least, Obama’s farewell address. (Followed quickly by a meme)

This is what I put up with.

@alazypizza

ask-the-holiday-nightguards  asked:

Okie. I think it was yours that was about Lance's about Lance's home life with the abusive father. And that got me thinking about a different take on it. What if, his father promised his mother a lot of things. Going to college (if they could) after he did. Never having to work a day in her life after he couldn't send her to college. Getting to go on a vacation after they raise enough money and then not being able to do that ect. (1/2)

After Lance turns 13, he hears his parents argue every night about funds and gets the brute end of it. With him being the one who has to care for his younger siblings because his older siblings have all left for different reasons. Ending is up to you (2/2)
~~~~~
Oh okay!! This is really cool and interesting. I hope you like it!!
~~~~~
We all have little problems about ourselves that we just can’t help. Some people have a problem with lying, while others may have trouble with stealing. Lance’s dad problem was always making promises. More specifically, promises he couldn’t keep. Ever since Lance could remember, he could always hear his dad making promises to his mama.
“Mi amor, I promise that when the kids go off to college, I’ll do the same. Get an education to create a better living for ourselves.”
“Marcia, I promise you that I will take you and our family on a grand vacation. Take a break from the beach and go somewhere with grassy plains and mountains as far as we can see.”
But he would never keep them. It wasn’t his fault really. It just that all the promises he made had something to do with money. Money they didn’t have. Lance knew this from the late night arguments that would often wake him and his younger siblings awake. He would round them all up, and tuck them back into their shared bed, whispering small reassurances, lulling them to sleep. Lance would then creep down the stairs, wincing every time the old wooden steps creaked underneath his feet. He slowly lowered himself on the stairway, sitting on the steps. He could see the shadows of his mom and dad in the kitchen, safe from their view.
“Diego, we can’t afford this. We’re struggling to pays the bills as is, and we were late last month. We can’t keep doing this.”
“Marcia, it will be okay! I promise-”
“No!! I’ve had it with your ‘promises!’ The promise you never keep, that fill me with false hope!” His mother hisses.
“Well what do you expect me to do? I’m doing everything that I can! If Lance would grow up and get a job, he could help the family out!”
“You know that Lance does plenty around the house. He the oldest now since his older siblings left and gotten married! He watches the younger kids. He helps me so much. Cooks dinner, cleans, puts the children to rest. What more can he do?”
“He can get. A. Job. Something to get money from! Work at the local market or farm! He could put that prodigy brain of his to use and find a way to make money!Anything!”
Lance shakily let out a breath. He eyes began to sting, and he could feel the water begin to form. He would do anything to help his family.
Marcia let out a long sigh. “We will work this out, Diego. But for now, let’s get back to bed. We’re lucky we didn’t wake the children. Again.”
Lance held his breath as he listen to his parents footstep fade away to their bedroom. Lance let a few tears escape as he slowly made his way back to bed, legs lightly shaking and his jaw set. He would find a way to help provide for his family. Even if it killed him.
~~~~~
A few days later, Lance walked down the sandy beaches of his home to get the mail that his mother asked him to. His hands were in his pockets as he kicked up sand and whistled a random tune. When he got to their rusty old mailbox, he brushed away the dust and the beginnings of a cobweb. When he reached in to retrieve the mail, he felt a thick envelope. Curious, he took it out, flipping it around him in hands, trying to find the addressor. With wide, disbelieving eyes, he ran his fingers over the top the envelop. Addressed to him personally was a letter from the Garrison.
EVERYTHING WRONG WITH T70S SEASON 8
Feel free to add.
  • Boring opening sequence.
  • Donna doesn’t know why she and Jackie are friends for no apparent reason.
  • And keeps getting better by not actually caring about her or anyone but herself. And Randy.
  • Hyde’s villain mustache.
  • It’s been just a month since season 7 finale, why on Earth Kelso looks like if he hit the gym 24/7 for three years?
  • Fez/Jackie.
  • Hyde’s clothes.
  • Jackie pining for Fez. I’m going to say it again: Jackie PINING for FEZ.
  • Samantha.
  • No Eric, no Kelso.
  • What on Earth is Hyde doing married to a stranger and how he got to accept it so easily?
  • For some reason, Hyde suddenly doesn’t care of his friends either.
  • How’s that we were never told both, Jackie and Hyde, had half brothers? How is that this didn’t made them bond even more? What the fuck?
  • Jackie doesn’t fight Hyde about his bullshit, doesn’t even slap the asshole.
  • Hyde leaving drugs is a bad thing and his friends make an intervention so he will start consuming drugs again. It’s not funny. IT’S NOT FUNNY.
  • “Whorus maximus”, says ex-feminist Hyde.
  • The fuck is wrong with Fez’s super greasy hair, I–
  • Donna/Randy, Eric breaking up with her via letter for the most stupid reason ever after we got entire episodes in season 7 about how the distanse was not going to be an obstacle for them.
  • New guy suddenly is “the best”, is Hyde in love with him or what?
  • Hyde slaps Donna’s ass.
  • Red and Kitty are ok with a stripper living in their basement instead of, I don’t know, kicking their now fucking married son out of their house.
  • There was nothing wrong with Kitty’s hair, you suck, writers.
  • Jackie lets her romantic life be dictated by a fucking list.
  • Ridiculous dream about the beauty and the beast staring Jackie and Fez, when their “love story” is NOTHING like that one. It’s worse.
  • Is Kitty an alcoholic now? Ok.
  • Bob decides to leave town.
  • Donna doesn’t go to college and does actually kind of nothing with her life but wait for Eric, doesn’t go to college even after he breaks up with her and instead starts dating a guy she has met for about a month and keeps doing nothing.
  • Hyde yells at Samantha like his parents used to yell at each other to then have sex, because that’s healthy, alright. And the show makes it look like if that’s fine and good for their already unbelievable relationship.
  • Jackie constantly gets injured, humilliated in public, stepped on and fucked over. She literally gets green hair from her one true love, Fez.
  • Out of nowhere, Jackie thinks she IS a bad person and constantly says so and the laugh track is put because, for some reason, a girl hating herself is funny.
  • Hyde is married and nothing changes for him, he is still the same asshole living in his adoptive parent’s basement to the point the show kinda forgets about Sam for entire episodes.
  • Donna decides her new best friend is the stripper, because she wasn’t a bad friend already.
  • Zero chemistry between Donna and Randy. Fez and Jackie? LMAO, ridiculous.
  • Hyde’s beer belly.
  • That guy that took Hyde’s place and face.
  • Jackie’s sudden shallowness and other backwards steps, even wrose than her season 1 self.
  • Fez macho and playboy self, like, eww.
  • Caroline’s mental illness is still a joke, even more so now.
  • Donna decides to not tell anyone, not even Jackie or Hyde, that Eric broke up with her but tells new guy that is obviously going to get into her pants.
  • Samantha is actually married to an old man that could be her father.
  • Romantization of old guy-young sexy woman relationship right there.
  • Hyde is ok with everyone saying his wife is a whore and even says they can watch her take off her clothes but have to pay him, actually uses the phrase “Sam? What I told you? They have to pay ME first.” when insinuated she was going to strip for his friends.
  • Hyde calls Jackie a whore, a bitch, and other names after he couldn’t stan some random guy calling her that.
  • These people aren’t kids anymore and for the sake of jokes decide to do shit like stealing, proclaim drugs are ok, doing nothing all day but talk bad about the other and hold their life on pause because the show forgot they aren’t teenagers anymore.
  • Actually, all characters are worse than when they were teens.
  • Fez/Jackie (yes, it’s here two times).
When the knock falls on his door in the middle of the afternoon, Chowder is so grateful for the distraction from his homework he could cry.
He gets up, opens the door, and smiles–it’s Farmer, and she has a cardboard tray with two carry-out cups from Annie’s in her left hand. Kissing her briefly in greeting, he grabs one of the coffee cups. (It doesn’t matter which he takes, since they both drink it the same way anyway-no cream, two sugars.)
“You just saved my life, Cait,” Chowder informs her, sitting back down in his chair as she sits cross-legged on the bed. “I’m pretty sure another two minutes of staring at this screen and I’d, like, snap. Like those people on the news who are just, you know, postal workers or whatever, but then one day out of nowhere they try to stab a nun or something.”
Farmer raises an eyebrow. “That bad, huh?”
Request: We got you
Request: How about a story where Y/N is a new girl in Charming, working as a waitress at the club’s favourite dinner. You start to get close to them and they ask you to help serve at some parties and at one a prospect, or hangaround, gets a little too handsy and they have to step in?
Tig Trager Warns You, This Imagine Contains: harassment
They got divorced. After years of happy marriage, my parents got divorced. I guess it wasn’t such a happy conjugal life after all. I was in college and my last summer break was close, I had no idea where I should go. My father was still living in our house, but mom had moved to California. My only plan was to work during the summer, save money, and when mom called, telling me her friend had a job for me, I made my decision. I packed and hopped on a plane to California.
The job was as a waitress in a Charming’s diner downtown and I just glad to have my own money and that experience. I had been doing fine, getting good tips, especially from the Sons. The Samcro bikers were regulars at the diner, coming over from breakfast or lunch after a run to somewhere out of town. I liked them, despite all the things I had heard around town. They were always nice to me.
That morning, they were talking about a party and it would be a big one apparently. They sounded so excited that I thought I had become invisible as I poured coffee on their cups, but then Bobby talked to me.
“How about making some extra cash sweetheart?”, he looking at me over his glasses, “This is gonna be a huge party and Gemma could use some help. You have experience, should help serve at the party”
Gemma Teller. I had heard a lot about her and, to be honest, she was the one who scared me among the Samcro family. I bit my lip, “I don’t know Bobby”
“I know you heard about our parties and that we’re savages”, Tig smirked, “But we will keep you safe. I promise”
They were looking at me, waiting for an answer, “I’ll think about it. I promise”
I did thought about it and realized, looking at my plans for next semester, that the extra cash would be great. I knew my mother wouldn’t like it, but I said yes anyway. Boys showed up at the diner on the next day and Jax gave me his mother’s number, I had to deal with Gemma now. I was so nervous when I called her, but she was gentle and said the boys had said good things about me. She needed me at the clubhouse on Friday night, but if I could be there earlier it would be even better. By the end afternoon I met Gemma at her office and she introduced me to the other girls helping at the party. They were used to those parties and I felt a bit intimidated, worried about doing a good job.
I had been helping Chuck all day and was seated outside, on a break, when the boys arrived. They hopped off their bikes and Chibs was the first one to see me, wrapping ar arm around my shoulders, “Hi darling. How are you doing?”
“Good”, I smiled, “Gemma is great, she told me to help Chucky, stay close to him”
“Don’t worry sweetheart”, Bobby entered the clubhouse as we all followed him, “And tells us if anybody bother you”
“Okay”, I nervously nodded.
“We mean it”, Tig emphasized and kissed the top of my head. They were being nice, but I was still nervous. I decided to find Chucky and go back to work.
Boys were right, it was a big party indeed. I saw kuttes from at least two different places and many hangarounds too, people who knew the Sons and were friends of the club. Chucky wanted me to stay behind the bar since I was new around there, said he didn’t want anyone taking me for a sweet butt or crow eater. I did what he told, but that didn’t stop men from hitting on me. I had said no a dozen times already and it had worked so far.
I just had opened a new bottle of whisky when this young Son leaned over the counter, asking for a drink. I served him, but he didn’t let me go, grabbing my wrist.
“Let go”, I calmly said, but he just smirked.
“You do know that you’re here to please, don’t you babe?”, he licked his lips and I only felt disgusted. He was drunk and couldn’t hold my wrist when I pulled back.
“I’m not your babe”, I hissed. I knew I should tell one of the boys, but I also wanted to handle it on my own, “Get lost”
He glared at me for a second and then shrugged, walking away from the bar. I rolled my eyes when I saw the prospect patch on his back. I breathed deeply as I looked around and noticed Gemma staring at me across the room. She just raised an eyebrow; I nodded that everything was fine and continued to work. At some point, people started to leave, find rooms or just fall on the couches or floor. Gemma told me I could go, paid me and kissed my cheeks, saying I had done a good job and she hoped to see me again soon. I grabbed my car keys and walked outside. I just had closed the door behind me when someone grabbed my arm and pulled me to his chest.
“Leaving without saying goodbye to me?”, his drunk giggle was enough for me to recognize the man as the idiot that was hitting on me later.
“Let me go”, I clenched my jaw and was ready to hit him if I had too. My father had insisted on self-defense classes before I leave for college. He laughed but it got choked on his throat when someone else held him in a lock. Chibs kept me from falling, holding me by my waist.
“Are you okay?”, he asked. I nodded, watching Tig and Happy hold the prospect as Jax approached him. Samcro president had a smirk on his lips and I couldn’t listen him, but he clearly was threatening my stalker, whose eyes widened.
“Do. You. Understand?”, Jax asked louder, the prospect nodded and he told Tig and Happy to let the boy go. He ran as the devil himself was after him and Jax finally turned to look at me.
“Are you okay darling?”, he asked.
“Yes”, I nodded, “Thanks… What did you just say to him? You scared the shit out of that boy”
“Don’t worry about that darling”, Jax winked as him and Chibs walked me to my car, “We got you”
Kaneki and Touka: Parallel Journeys, Part 2
First Part here.
Kaneki on Touka’s Transformation
Kaneki considers Touka’s transformation to be a positive thing. He is aware that he is part of the Ghoul’s World, and to fulfil his goals he knows that he will have to go deeper into it. So when Touka offered to go with him, potentially undoing all her development in the direction of the Human World, Kaneki felt like he had to refuse, to protect Touka from herself, even while it pained both him and her to do so.
Kaneki wants Touka to live like a human, because it’s the life he himself wants, but feels he cannot have. His martyr complex demands that he must shoulder the burdens of everyone else so that they can live happy lives while he alone suffers. But it’s precisely because of this complex that Touka suffers in the first place since she only wants to be by his side. In trying to be ‘save’ Touka, he only ends up hurting her.
And himself too. His own Human emotions, and the truth, nag in his head to give up his warped sense of responsibility and to go down and see her, but he shuts them out by allowing himself to be distracted by his ‘Ghoul business’.
He knows in his heart that Touka can never be a complete Human with her Ghoulish past, but won’t accept that truth. Just as he will not accept that he can never be a complete Ghoul with his Humane past.
Seriously, if any of the characters consistently listened to Yoshimura then this series wouldn’t be a tragedy, it would be a peaceful coffee shop AU. GO BACK TO ANTEIKU, KANEKI. What Anteiku represents is spiritual Half-Ghouldom - Ghouls living alongside Humans and being both monster and man, living in peace when they can and fighting when they must; a world away from the constant fighting that Kaneki’s Group undergoes and from the impotent passivity of the life of a college student. This revelation comes immediately after Yoshimura reveals that he is the father of a half-Ghoul, and it’s not just Eto - it’s the community he founded. Kaneki still doesn’t understand that, as a half-Ghoul, this is his home, where he can be both Kuroneki and Shironeki.
You’re a Half-Ghoul in body, Kaneki, so be a Half-Ghoul in spirit too.
Touka on Kaneki’s Transformation
Touka sees Kaneki’s slide completely into the Ghoul’s World as extremely negative, as he casts aside the very qualities that inspired her to change in the first place. It’s a trend she’s seen before. with both Ayato and herself, and she wants none of it.
This ‘endless bullshit’ is exactly what Ayato is doing now in Aogiri, and exactly what she did in her past hunting doves. To see Kaneki repeating her mistakes is infuriating for her.
The Bridge to Half-Ghouldom
The scene on the bridge is pivotal to our protagonists’ position on the Human-Ghoul spectrum - it’s hard to find a more symbolic setting than a bridge, after all. On one side of that bridge is the road back to the Ghoul’s World, and the other leads back to the Human’s World. Kaneki and Touka meet in the middle, and although they both leave the same way they came, the encounter with the traveller from the opposite road changes their perspectives forever.
It’s this retort from Touka that really snaps Kaneki out of his hero act. He begins to realise that if he keeps going far, far down the rabbit hole into the Ghoul Wonderland, Anteiku may not accept him back at all. He might lose his home - and it frightens him, because he realises the world of the half-ghoul is his home, not dark back alleys brawling with Aogiri.
And then Touka proceeds to demonstrate why she still belongs at Anteiku.
Kaneki’s efforts to “humanify” Touka were a complete waste of time. Touka doesn’t want the complete powerlessness that comes with living in the Human World. She wants the love and affection that it provides, but what’s that even worth, when the one she wants it from most is a denizen of the Ghoul World who refuses to give it to her? Against her better sense, she proves here that the Ghoul inside her is still alive and well. That’s why she still belongs at Anteiku - in spirit, she’s become part Human, but she’s still part Ghoul. She fits better into Anteiku’s hybrid world than the current Kaneki does.
Kaneki, seeing the Ghoul still within Touka, gives up trying to cut off part of his own nature.
And accepts that Human part of him while staying true to his new self as well, going back to Anteiku but changing his role.
Meanwhile Touka’s old self has been brought to her awareness, even if she’s still viewing it as a relapse rather than an indisputable part of herself, not realising that it was the Ghoul part of herself that she has been repressing that was what convinced him to return.
Both come close to Half-Ghouldom and the reconciliation of their fractured sense of self…
But, as is typical in tragedy, the revelation comes too late, and when the push comes to the greatest shove they remain in their separate worlds as the symbol of the worlds’ union goes up in flames, destroyed by the CCG, who want to keep those worlds separate for good.
Kaneki sticks to the ‘Ghoul’ way, and this is his punishment:
Touka wants to go down the Ghoul’s way again, but the memory of Mado’s wedding ring, one of the major stimuli for her journey into the Human World, paralyses her. She cannot escape the ‘Human’s Way’, and it’s deeply painful for her. And this is her punishment:
But despite all that, she keeps faith. She believes Kaneki will find a way back to that Half-Ghoul paradise, and sub-textually, herself as well.
But Anteiku, named after the antique coffee cup that Yoshimura saved to drink with his half-ghoul child - making the shop a beacon for the half-ghoul spirit - has been destroyed. So where does hope lie now for the hybrid existence?
It lies in :re.
Part 3, the finale, is here!
