James Comey testifies before the Senate Intelligence Committee

  • “The explanations, the shifting explanations confused me and increasingly concerned me,” Comey said of his firing. Trump’s subsequent reasoning for firing him “were lies, plain and simple.”
  • “It confused me when I saw on television the president saying that he actually fired me because of the Russia investigation and learned again from the media that he was telling privately other parties that my firing had relieved great pressure on the Russia investigation,” Comey said.
  • Comey also confirmed that at the time of Flynn’s firing — when Trump asked Comey to “let this go” — Flynn was under criminal investigation.
  • In yet another bombshell moment at the hearing, Comey said he took meticulous notes about his interactions with Trump because he was concerned Trump “might lie about the nature of our meeting.”
  • Comey worried Trump sought something amounting to quid-pro-quo in order to keep his job.
  • Comey testified, under oath, that he worried Trump had called him to the White House in order to get something in return for keeping his job.
  • “My common sense told me that what’s going on here is he’s trying to get something here for granting me the chance to stay in my job,” Comey said. This is a developing story (6/8/17 10:45 AM)

THINGS YOU MAY HAVE MISSED IN THE BACK TO YOU MUSIC VIDEO TEASER

1. The newspaper next to Louis is the Los Angeles Times and has an article named after a lyric in Back To You: “Baby, here we go again!”

2. The bedside table next to Louis when he’s packing his suitcase is home to a One Direction record for Midnight Memories.

3. An air freshener can be seen hanging from the car window featuring Louis’ LT logo and it’s also in the scent “Royal Pine.”

4. Outside the car window you can see a billboard advertising the music video. “Back To You, Official Video, Out Tomorrow.”

5. When Louis is bored on his phone waiting for his plane, he begins typing out lyrics to Back To You in the notes app.

6. The travel tag on Louis’ suitcase has Bebe Rexha’s name on it and Digital Farm Animals.

7. The departure sign has Back To You on it.

8. The departure sign announces that Louis will be going on tour next year! LT Tour 2018.

9. The car Louis gets into for his ride home has the license plate “DNC5STER” for Doncaster.

10. The radio is playing Back To You and teases that it will be released at midnight. You can hear Louis on the radio singing a few lines, but the driver then reaches over and turns it down.

Bonus: Throughout the video Louis wears a yellow sweater with the word “tomorrow” written on it to symbolize the song release tomorrow.

1. Always have a water bottle in your car

2. Carry an extra lighter (even if you don’t smoke)

3. Get something new where you go to eat often, not just your usual.

4. Make a budget for yourself

5. But don’t forget to give yourself some play money and always round up on how much things cost so you have money left over

6. If you’re texting someone, but nervous to send it, just click the fucking send button. You typed that shit out for a reason.

7. Stay out late. Wake up early. You’ll be glad you had all of your day.

8. If something makes you laugh until your sides hurt, write it down in the notes in your phone, you’ll want to remember that later.

9. When you’re talking to someone, and you suddenly think of something you want to say, put up a finger and wait for them to finish talking. It’ll help you remember what you wanted to say, but you won’t interrupt them.

10. Go to plenty of concerts. Especially outdoor ones. Get drunk with your friends, but not sloppy drunk. Just drunk enough to scream your favorite songs and dance without feeling embarrassed.

11. Even though the best present is someone’s presence, it’s still always nice giving or receiving an actual gift.

12. Always keep a change of clothes in your car. Including a pair of shoes. You never know.

13. Keep at least $20 cash on you at all times. Gas is usually cheaper when you pay with cash, and not everywhere you go to eat splits checks.

14. It’s okay to be sad, but try not to forget about what makes you happy.

15. Coupons are always fantastic.

16. If you think something is cute, fucking wear it. Don’t worry about what everyone else thinks. You’ll look great, I promise.

17. Sex stores are fun, even if you just want a good laugh.

18. Plan out your days off with your friends, that way you aren’t stuck around asking the “I don’t know what do you wanna do”

19. Don’t forget to remind your friends how much they mean to you.

20. If someone gives you a compliment, smile and say thank you. They wouldn’t say it, if they didn’t mean it.

21. Drink plenty of water. Not only does it keep you hydrated, but clears your skin.

22. I know you might want to be tan, but is it really worth being burnt and exposing yourself to all that skin cancer bull shit? No. Use at least SPF 15. It’s not that hard and you’ll still tan. So stop being a brat.

23. You’re allowed to be happy. Don’t ever let anyone tell you otherwise.

24. Aim to be better, not bitter.

25. Some days are better than others.

26. You can never over pack. Pack what you want. You’ll be glad you have options to choose from.

27. Take those extra hours at work. It’ll be worth it when you see your paycheck.

28. Clean your fucking room and make your bed you slob. It’ll look so much nicer and you’ll feel better you did it.

29. If you have to, make the first move. It’s scary, but someone has to do it.

30. Take plenty of pictures. Of the sunset, your food, your friends, your dog, selfies. Everything. That way, later when you scroll through your camera roll, you’ll remember everything about that day, good or bad.

Small tips that make a (healthier) difference

Hey you! I dare you to try your best to follow this checklist tomorrow! But hey! Not so fast. Why not try it again the next day (and every day after that)? Sometimes it’s the smaller changes that can in fact help improve our health and wellbeing, especially when we think we’re short of time. School stressing you out? Everything is going to be ok. Try a few little things here. Tick everything off that you completed! Tell me how it goes for you!

This was a spontaneous post and I’ve found that I’ve been making errors in my posts recently! Plz correct me bc I am an egg. Hope u like it anyway.

Morning:

  • Wake up as soon as you do naturally or when your alarm goes off. Make your bed! Open the blinds!
  • Get out of bed and s t r e t c h – all the way from the very tips of your fingers to the tips of your toes. (Trust me, this feels good)
  • Set your intention for the day. This might be weird for some, but try it. Example: Today I will be productive. I will be focused on my tasks and I will take the time to relax when needed. It doesn’t have to be as complicated – Example 2: I can do this. Remind yourself again.
  • Eat breakfast. A MUST. Try my favourite: eggs (poached, scrambled or fried) on toast with avocado or baked beans. Yes. We are on a roll today.
  • Drink one full glass of water within the hour of waking (don’t down it all in one go though!).
    • Add 1/8 of a lemon to this. Lemon is great to alkalise the body and getting that digestive system of yours goin! This will flush out toxins in the body and support your immune system too!
      • Side note: Wait half an hour before brushing your teeth after this (or maybe do it before) because lemons are acidic after all and can probably do some damage to your shiny whites.
  • Try having a water bottle by your bedside and beside you throughout the day as a constant reminder to drink water as you see it. Trust me, this has helped improve my water intake a lot.
  • Organise your day. What are your plans? What are of priority and what are not? Try brain dumping this, and then organising each task/item into a list, categorised in importance. This will help decrease stress throughout the day and easy referral back to this list.
  • Dress in some lovely clothes! Your fave sweater and some cool black tights? 100%!! What about that pretty skirt you like with a nice top? HECK YEAH!!!

Midday:

  • Lunchtime! Eat again. Wholesome foods are an absolute must whenever you can.
  • Aim for 3-4 cups of water by lunchtime (inclusive of the glass of lemon water you had this morning).
  • Remember that intention you set this morning? Say it again.
  • Throw a compliment at someone. Be genuine. This will have a butterfly effect. If someone throws one at you to – don’t disagree! Say thank you. You rock, don’t doubt that.
  • Are there any ticks beside those tasks on your checklist from this morning? I hope so!
  • Throw in a random burst of exercise! In public too – who cares! Pick one of these: 50 starjumps! 3 sets of 10 squats! A quick walk around outdoors!

Arvo (/Afternoon… Straya):

  • Hit that 3pm slump? Same. Here are a few ideas to get you going, especially coming home from a long day:
    • NAP! 15-20 mins. No longer. No less. Be strict here or your sleep pattern might go funny and we don’t want that. (And groggy headaches are gross)
    • Exercise! This is so fundamental to our health and wellbeing. Try out short pilates videos (no equipment) here (that as living proof, work) or some really cool yoga videos here, here, and here. Yoga is great. Try this daily. Or take a brisk walk for 30 minutes  = wake up your brain, pick up your mood AND burn some fat. C’mon, go get your shoes!
    • Have a healthy snack, such as those listed in this great post by @tbhstudying. Get your brain and bod going, my friends!
  • Write down your to do list for any work, study or event related things that you need to complete this afternoon. Set out all your equipment, sort out your papers from the day and get organised!
  • Clear your (bedroom/bed/desk/floor/work/closet) space for 5 minutes every day. I’m guessing that you’ve started to pile a few things here like I do. This will save you time and help maintain cleanliness, staving away from the complicated stress that comes from having to reorganise just about everything which we all know to hate when we’re busy with other things.
  • Have you had your 5th and 6th cups of water of the day yet? Get to it!
  • Sit up straighter and you’ll look more confident and feel more confident. Your back will also be very grateful for this.

Night:

  • Continue all your extra to-dos. Get this done. You can do it!
  • Make sure to put something in your body guys. I’m talking food here by the way… don’t let that sentence mislead you! This is especially important for those of you probably thinking “I’ll just eat later” or “I’m not hungry”.  Eat. EAT NOW. PleASE.
  • Spend some quality time with your family. How’s their day been? Tell them about yours too.
  • Glasses of water No. 7, 8 and beyond should be here.
  • Prep your meals, lists, notes, outfits, etc. for the next day. Getting these things sorted now will help you get it out of the way and save you time!
  • Settle down a little. It’s time to wiiiind doooooooownnn. Read a book. Scroll through Tumblr (aaayeee!) – but not too deep into the pits okay guys. Watch a little TV.
  • I know a lot of posts say to switch off 1-2 hours before bed. If you’re literally glued to your electronics, try switching off 5 minutes earlier every day and replace that with something else. What about doing your prep items for the next day (listed two points back!!)? Or, do get those pesky chores out the way.
    • Side note: Cleaning your room often will help freshen it, get rid of itchy dust and decrease the chances of bugs and other smol random things to crawl around your room. (If that’s not a little motivation then I’m not sure what is…). It’ll also keep your space maintained so you don’t have to do it all at once. *Shudders* Plus the likelihood of those gross germs from the world hanging around and building up in there is a no-no.
  • Sleep! 7-8 hours. Your body will thank you for it. CRUCIAL for healthy brain and body function. Plus your mood and skin will improve (i.e. gOODBYE EYEBAGS and hELLO GLOWING SKIN).
    • Side note: I see you reading this at 12am when you should be sleeping. I see you.

I hope this has helped you guys a little or at least inspired you to make a small change to your daily routine! Try doing a few items here (e.g. glass of lemon water, sitting up straighter, 8+ cups of water) and record this on a habit tracker! The smallest changes often have the greatest effects!

Don’t forget to let me know how you go.

Also, as a note to all my trans folks who bind. Remember to take your binder off if you’ve been wearing it for 8 hours and never keep it on if you’re going to do any kind of physical exercise because you could get some nasty bruises or even crack a rib if it’s too tight. Be safe, y’all.

4 May 2017 || ig || May Study Challenge

Day 4: May is AP Exam season! What are your tips for studying for tests?

First of all, happy Star Wars day! May the force be with you during your exams (and in general).

The Day Before

MORNING (8-10AM)

  • wake up, have a nice breakfast (not too much coffee pls)
  • get dressed!
  • tidy up your study space if necessary
  • get out your notes one last time (only the summaries/final notes if you have any of those)

DURING THE DAY

  • go over your notes once or twice again and check if you have everything memorised
  • go over everything you especially struggled with another time
  • stay hydrated
  • eat light and easily digestible things
  • cut out caffeine after 4pm because you need a good night’s sleep!
  • take breaks :)

EVENING

  • personally, i don’t study the night before an exam (after 6pm)
  • take a nice bath or shower
  • if you eat dinner, don’t make it too late or too heavy
  • set your alarm and two backup alarms, and if possible tell someone who will be awake at that time to wake you up if all else fails (or to give you a wake-up call)
  • pack your bag with EVERYTHING you need (including water, keys, paper, pens, ID, calculator, bus pass, tissues, tampons/pads if needed)
  • if you want, set out the clothes you want to wear the next day so you don’t have to worry about it in the morning
  • go to bed before midnight, ideally at a time that allows you 7 to 8 hours of sleep

The Day of the Exam

  • manage your time in a way that allows you to be at the exam location half an hour in advance (earlier buses etc)
  • have breakfast!!! don’t skip breakfast, it gives you the energy your brain needs during the exam. if you feel like you can’t eat anything, try just toast or a granola bar or dry cereal or something like that. tea is good as well.
  • don’t drink more caffeine than you usually would. you’ll probably be nervous as it is and caffeine makes you extra hyped
  • go to the toilet before you leave your house
  • if you feel like you would benefit from it, skim your notes one last time (on the bus maybe or during breakfast)
  • if that would just freak you out, read something else (comics, the newspaper, tumblr, whatever really)
  • get encouragement!! have someone tell you that you’ll do fine or wish you good luck. it’ll make you smile and have a more positive attitude. possible people: best friend, parents, siblings, grandparents, and of course tumblr or other social networks.
  • if other people make you even more nervous because they all seem so much better prepared than you (they probs aren’t though), avoid them. listen to music or read something or avoid the exam room itself as long as possible. focus on yourself if you work better that way.
  • if talking to others calms you down, don’t choose the ones with headphones or books to talk to  because they’re probably the ones who want some peace and quiet
  • do your best! :)

Description / Request: The reader gets a call from an old friend inviting her to come to her wedding, one that’s being held in her hometown. Tom, who has a crush on the reader, agrees to being her plus one, much to the amusement of Jacob and Zendaya. Jacob makes Tom promise to tell the reader his feelings at the wedding if he can get proof that she likes him back within the next 8 days.

Author’s Note: So I got sent this request and liked it so much that I started writing it almost immediately. I added some details and it ended up being longer than expected so I think I’m going to turn it into a multi-part fic. Let me know if you like it and feel free to send me your own requests.

Part 2| Part 3

Everyone cheered as I caught yet another raspberry in my mouth. Tom, Zendaya, Jacob and I were all hanging around the craft services table, messing around while the crew got ready to film the next scene.

I reopened my mouth and leaped sideways as Jacob tossed another raspberry into the air. When I caught it once again, I dabbed furiously to my right.

“Why are you so good at this?” Zendaya asked in disbelief taking a sip from her water bottle.

I shrugged my shoulders and caught another raspberry in mouth, this one being tossed by Tom. I winked at him as I started chewing it causing a blush to appear in his cheeks. “While some of us were mastering the art of dancing,” I started making a pointed look at Zendaya and Tom. “I mastered the art of eating.”

“Preach,” Jacob said raising his hand for a high five. I grinned and slapped my hand against his rather aggressively. He hissed and retracted his hand. “Dam that stung,” he groaned, cradling his hand.

I cackled and opened my mouth to give a witty retort when the Spiderman theme song started playing. My hands reached into my back pocket and pulled out my phone which was receiving a call.

staying productive during the summer ☀️

hello! i only recently made this studyblr but today i just decided to go ahead and make a post! i thought this particular post would be relevant now because the summer is about to start or has already started for many of us. so, here are some ideas on staying productive during the summer:

work on all your summer assignments

this one’s kind of obvious. if you don’t want to spend the last week/day of the summer frantically doing ALL your summer work, do a little bit each day. to help get myself organized, i printed out some calendars (see picture) and broke down my summer assignments so that way, i only have a little bit to do each day.

prepare for next year

it would be a good idea to see what you can do to help your future self do less work next year. for example: as an ib student, i am planning on using the summer between my junior and senior year to write notes for ib chem and ib bio for multiple reasons, but also because i won’t have to waste time doing that next year. as you can see, i also used my calendar system for this by assigning a section or two to cover each day!

s l e e p

although you can’t really “catch up” on the hours of sleep you missed during the school year, you can still get enough sleep each day! relax! you can go to bed early or late, but you should be sure to get at least 8 hours of sleep! try not to sleep too much, though, because you won’t feel too good when you wake up.

clean!

if you’re anything like me, then after finals your room looks like a tornado hit it!!! now, whether this is or isn’t true, i think it would still be a good idea to do some cleaning. clean your room, organize your closet, donate old clothes, reorganize your desk drawers, rearrange your bookshelf…you will definitely feel so much better after you’re done.

do something cool

why don’t you spend some time during the summer volunteering or picking up a new skill or hobby? you can learn a new language, learn some new recipes, learn to code, learn to draw realistically–you can learn anything!

but don’t forget:

actually have fun

while i believe it is very important to be productive during the summer and get  work done, it’s also important for you to spend time doing things you enjoy: read, draw/paint, watch tv shows, movies, documentaries, hang out with your friends, play video games, play with your pets, go to the beach, visit an amusement park!

take care of yourself

  • work out a couple times a week. make or listen to a playlist while you work out, find an exercise buddy, and just devote some of your time to exercise! exercising has many benefits!!! it will make you feel good and fresh!
  • take care of your body. put on face masks, hair masks, moisturize…
  • honestly, just do what relaxes you! pamper yourself, you deserve it!
Things I would like to see in future SU episodes

1) Amethyst gets an eating buddy. Centi might be a good person for that, since it’s canon she likes to eat CHAAAAPS.

2) Steven starts un-corrupting gems, and we get more #friends

3) Opal gets some attention. Maybe even a mini episode arc that highlights how far Pearl/Amethyst have come.

4) Famethyst is saved, and brought to earth. They drive Pearl a little crazy the first few days.

5) Jasper/Bismuth redemption. Ruby squad is still up in the air, for me.

6) Peridot gets her new outfit with a star. Maybe Lapis, too?

7) On a related note: Where is the Lapis song, damn it.

8) We find out what Lion is, what’s in the treasure chest, and more about the temple fusion.

9) CGs VS the Diamonds. Things go boom. Much action. Wow.

10) Vidalia punches Marty in the nuts.

11) Hashtag Let Steven and Connie smooch 2017

12) New fusions… Especially one with Peridot. Steven and the other gems, too.

13) The long awaited “How Pearl and Rose met” episode.

14) The also long awaited “How Amethyst was found” episode.

15) A group song with all the CGs! As in, they all sing together, at the same time, in harmony.

16) Shorty squad mischief.

Simple tips for success

My social psych syllabus has a section which says:

How to succeed in this course:
In theory, it’s simple! Your grade is based on assignments, exams, and the final project. I will be available to help explain any concepts that you don’t understand, prepare for quizzes (or the final exam), and answer questions about assignments. If you study ahead of time, attend and prepare for class, and seek my advice (or your classmates’) when needed, you can succeed.

I honestly think that (for humanities/lecture classes at least) this is spot on. I’m shocked at students in my sociology class who come in late every class, don’t take notes, don’t attend the study group (where he basically reads us questions off the test and thoroughly prepares us), don’t do well, and then act surprised. My poor prof finds it so stressful too bc he’s like “I WANT YOU TO SUCCEED AND I AM DOING EVERYTHING I CAN! But you guys have to make the choice to show up!”

If you show up, take notes, meet with the teacher when you need help, and study, you’re going to succeed. You might not get an A if the class is really difficult, but you sure as hell won’t fail - and more importantly you’ll actually get something out of your education.

For both my sociology and psych classes, this has been my study method:

1. Go to class
2. Take and highlight notes
3. ASK QUESTIONS
4. A couple days before the exam, start reviewing my notes - just a onceover, to identify areas of confusion
6. Go to study group (this also helps with identifying what you need to know an what you don’t need to waste time studying for)
7. Answer all the questions/check off all the stuff on the study guide
8. The night before the test, review the writeup I usually do based on the study guide and read through the textbook chapter once
9. Go kill it!!!!

It seems a lot of steps, but it really isn’t. Most of it is intuitive - show up, take notes, attend study groups. The rest is pretty minimal studying compared to what I used to do, making flashcards AND study guides and rewriting notes.

I’m not saying this will automatically get you an A, but for those people who feel incredibly overwhelmed and like you have to be this superhero studier to succeed, please bear this in mind! In theory (of course there are exceptions) it isn’t as overwhelming or difficult to do well as it may feel - it really isn’t. You got this!

Clichés that are true:

1. It gets better.
2. You may not see it now,
but it gets better. So much better.
3. Keep going. It will be worth it.
4. You are not alone.
5. You matter.
6. You deserve to be happy.
7. It is possible for you
to be happy.
8. You are enough.
9. You are more than ‘enough’.
10. You can do anything you set
your mind to. Believe in yourself.
11. It is possible for you to live
the life of your dreams.
12. Life is beautiful.
Open your eyes.
13. You are beautiful.
Open your eyes.
14. You deserve to be loved.
15. You are loved.

Hello, it’s #optomstudies here again with another Sunday Study Tip on university life! Although it’s been a while, this will be a multi-part series that hopefully will give a unique insight, since I can go on and on about university :)

PART 3: STUDY

I wish I had known that there’s a lot more work that you can binge in university. It is super easy to fall into the trap of leaving everything to the last minute. Revise regularly and finish all your recommended reading. The workload is a lot more than I ever faced in my final year of high school, and somehow I did get used to doing more in a shorter period of time.

Keep up with your tutorial homework. Especially for subjects for maths, I can’t stress this enough, especially since this was the one of the causes of my subpar grades the first semester of uni. Even if you have to stay up late to finish it, I’d suggest that you do it. Because if you don’t finish it this week, you’ll just have more to do next week.

Make study notes for everything at first. To be absolutely honest, there are a lot of subjects where you don’t end up needing study notes all that often. But I’d suggest making notes for everything the first week, because very often I’ve done notes for a subject, decided that I didn’t need any, then regretted it later on in the semester when there was too much to study. If you’re a notes person, make notes for everything.

That being said, know that you can’t write notes for everything forever. Sure, first and second year you can. But keep in mind that notes are time consuming to make, and tbh not the most optimal way to get the most information into your mind in a short time. It’s good for when you’re trying to learn each and every thing in a subject, like in high school for your HSC for example, but in uni, it’s better to understand concepts and memorise big picture things at the end of the day.

Learn as much as you can in class. Skim through the lecture notes before class, and write down any questions, but you basically want to understand the concepts in class. If there’s anything that you don’t understand, try and ask the teacher and follow up on it at the end of the class if there’s not enough time for questions. Try your best to follow what’s happening at the moment it happens.

Revise regularly. The reason for this is so that you can change the shape of the forgetting curve. This is the number one easiest thing to procrastinate, because it is probably the hardest to do regularly. I find it easier to set aside one large chunk of time to revise, even though it’s not optimum. The reason is because if planning one hour a day to revise, it’s usually at the end of the day after all your homework is done… and homework almost always runs over the time that you set aside for it. In addition to that, you want to avoid having to write anything new in that session, so make sure you have your study notes already done

Don’t forget who you were in high school. I can’t count the number of people who have studied their hardest in high school and scored ATARs of 95+ and yet completely bum around in uni, and don’t seem to care as long as they pass the course. Idk, personally, it’s just not an aesthetic that I would want myself to have; you tried that hard in high school, was it just a means to an ends? Now that you’re in your dream course, it suddenly doesn’t matter if you can’t make heads or tails of it? My cheesy message is: You made it! Celebrate it! Embrace it! Love learning it! Evolve and develop your mentality for university now that the goals are not a 99.95 ATAR, but a goal of your own choosing.

Explore new methods of note taking. There is a plethora of information concerning lecture note taking, writing summary notes, and specifically for university too. Or try your own thing. I personally am someone who likes taking notes in red font on my lecture slides - any explanations or emphases that are expressed are highlighted, without missing anything while typing up the main points. And I don’t bother to rewrite things in my own words, as long as I understand a concept; I know this is heavily emphasised as a good way to take notes in high school (in almost all the note making tutorials I’ve read), but in uni you don’t have the luxury of time. Lecture notes usually are anywhere from 3 to 6 A4 pages per hour of study notes, so it’s unfeasible when you have 8 hours of lectures a week. Try something different!

Do a brain dump on paper. My friend swears by this method. You go to a lecture, and straight afterwards write down everything you remember from that lecture right there and then. Then the day when you sit down to study it, do the same thing. The amount of things you’ve forgotten will be in plain view, which gets you to put the hard yards into memorising. Do the brain dump again once you’ve finished everything to check that you’ve memorised more than you did that initial brain dump.

HOW TO WIN AT FRESHMAN YEAR pt. 2 (SCHEDULING)

God knows scheduling is hard, especially if you go to one of those schools that have the academic orientation *after* the course registration begins. Like, good job man.

Anhyhoo, here are a couple tips to help you schedule better!

  1. Look at the course requirements. I know this is a repeat, but this is essentially what you should build your schedule around.
  2. Look up course descriptions on the website. Sometimes, these have detailed information on the topics covered, assignment weightage, and even exam types.
  3. Talk. To. Seniors. Whether it’s on Facebook groups or subreddits, post a couple questions and you will defintiely get at least a couple answers. Most senior students will be more than happy to pass down tips/tell you what they wished they knew.
  4. Learn to correctly identify what the ‘easier’ courses are, so you can take them later as a GPA boosted if need be. To do this, do not go by what everyone else brands as a bird course, but look over the material you already covered in high school classes/you are interested in, and find a course that covers similar topics. You will get better grades with less work than if you took some basket-weaving course that everyone calls easy.
  5. Even if you are a morning person, try to vary the timings of your classes and not have an 8 am everyday. Even if you wake up at 5 am at home with no alarms, observed behavior is a hell of a thing, so allow yourself some extra time in the mornings. 8 ams also tend to be a lot less in demand, so if you think you can handle the timing, you can always switch into it later.
  6. Try to have no empty gaps between your classes. Unless you’re super focused, you probably won’t get too much done in these and will just end up dragging your day out.
  7. Try to focus the bulk of your courseload into the first couple days of the week, because most people stars going out closer to the weekend, and you don’t want to be stuck in a lab while all your friends go out.
  8. On that same note, try to have at least 2 days with 4 hours free at a stretch if you decide to work part-time.
  9. Apart from your class schedule, figure out a good homework schedule and stick to it. A good rule would be to spend an extra 2 hours on that subject for every lecture you attend. If you’re done with the homework, use this time to read ahead.

Part 3 (lifestyle) coming up!

Wammy’s House Headcanons (that all actually happened)

//As I’ve alluded to a few times, I went to a public school with very rigorous academic tracking, and thus spent most of my childhood among precocious, hypercompetitive oddballs who would have fit right in at Wammy’s House. So because I’m bored, here’s a smattering of the bullshit we got up to over the years that I think work perfectly as Wammy’s headcanons:

  1. In elementary school, a teacher noticed that a number of the kids weren’t getting along with anyone, so she dubbed them “the Friendship Group,” made them eat lunch together in her classroom, and tried to force them to make friends with each other. The first Friendship Group lunch ended with Mello hurling a chair across the table at Near’s head. There was no second lunch.
  2. In middle school, Matt started a secret Pokemon card club that met during lunch. Roger promptly banned it. Pissed, Matt started a secret poker club instead. Roger found out and banned it. Matt then started a no mercy rugby club…
  3. Also in middle school, Near, Matt, and Mello set aside their differences to conspire against a particularly obnoxious substitute. Through cunning use of distractions and good teamwork, they managed to sneak behind the teacher’s desk and unplug the overhead projector seven times in forty-five minutes. They also convinced the baffled substitute that Matt’s name was actually Fred.
  4. One day in the cafeteria, Near and Mello got into a loud and pointless argument about whether the Holy Trinity was polytheistic. The argument ended with Mello yelling “THREE PARTS, ONE WHOLE, DIPSHIT,” and smacking Near over the head with a stale cafeteria breadstick.
  5. In high school, Matt decided to scientifically test his theory that a particular teacher never paid attention to him by seeing how many pencils he could get to stick point-first in the ceiling before she noticed. It took her two days and nearly thirty pencils to catch on.
  6. On a Spanish class trip to Barcelona, several students got off a stop too early on the subway and wound up in a red light district. Mello somehow managed to offend a prostitute he tried to ask for directions, and the whole group was chased for several blocks by angry, screaming women. Mello was never allowed to live it down.
  7. In literature class, the students were given a list of novels and allowed to choose which one they wanted to read. Mello chose Moby Dick because he assumed no one else would, and he wanted to show off. Near chose Moby Dick because it would piss off Mello. Matt chose Moby Dick just to watch the Near/Mello shit go down.
  8. On a similar note, Mello spent weeks bragging about how perfect he was for a part in the Wammy’s House annual musical and telling everyone else not to even bother auditioning. Near, who hated musicals, auditioned for the same part just to piss Mello off–and got it.
  9. One day, Roger had a mixup and forgot to hire a substitute for the history teacher. Upon realizing they’d been left to their own devices, Mello and several other students began gleefully writing nasty messages about the teacher on the whiteboard–only to discover when they tried to erase them that the marker they’d been using was actually a Sharpie. Mello spent the last five minutes of class frantically scrubbing the board with soap and water and yelling at Matt to stop laughing his ass off and help.

Fighting Headcanon:

  • The first time Rhysand and Feyre get into a fight it strikes fear in the hearts of the Inner Circle.

  • The High Lord and High Lady are deathly quiet as they go about their day.

  • They also close of their minds, because their thoughts are simmering with rage that threatens to boil over

  • Remember that little magic love note? Now it’s the passive aggressive note.

  • “To the High Lady who keeps sending her snapping water wolves outside as a method of watering the flowers please note that not everyone is inclined to having the wolves track mud back in the House of Wind.”

“To the sensitive High Lord who is afraid of a little mud, maybe you can tend to the plants since your little wings manage to knock them down every time you come in for one of your so called “majestic” landings.”

  • Eventually Feyre decides to fly to the Summer Court in order to get some relief. She does so without telling Rhysand and since their walls are up he can’t tell where she is going.

  • After spending a few hours with Cresseida and Tarquin while basking in the sun on the beach they all hear a great boom in the distance.

  • Suddenly a shadow flies overhead and before they can stand from their chairs Rhysand lands in a spray of sand not far from where they are.

  • Rhysand rushes to Feyre and for a moment the High Lady believes something terrible has happened at their court.

  • “What’s wrong? Is everyone safe-”

  • Feyre’s worried questioning is interrupted when Rhysand engulfs her in a hug. His arms wrap tightly around her and he takes deep breaths. Inhaling the scent of his mate and making sure she is safe.

  • “I didn’t know where you had gone. Your walls were up and I couldn’t reach you - I thought you were taken from me. Again.” The last word is a broken whisper.

  • Feyre assures Rhysand that she is fine. More than fine now that he is here, because she wants to apologize for their fight.

  • Rhysand merely shakes his head and says they were both at fault and should have talked about it instead of letting it cause a rift between them.

  • “So…why don’t we go home and just have great make-up sex?”

“Feyre darling, I positively love the way your dirty mind thinks.”

  • So the High Lord of Night Court winnows them away back to their townhouse where they indeed spend the rest of the day and night having a glorious time in the bed, against the walls, on the tables and also in the bathtub.
