Hormones.

They’re funny little things.

Sometimes they take over your body and make you do things that you wouldn’t ever do if it weren’t for the obscene amount of hormones coursing through your bloodstream - you’d never eat a plate full of pasta and a whole chocolate bar right after or cry at the butter commercial cause that family looks just so damn happy that they have their butter and each other… And you would not, under any circumstances, be thinking about how much you want your friend to fuck you into oblivion if it weren’t for the hormones.

Wait, what?

(based on this) (look, there’s a part two)

Yuuri barely has time to grab his jacket when he runs out the door, much less brush his hair or find a hat. Unfortunately, he’s sure that that means that his hair is an absolute mess. It’s been getting long again, but in between classes and helping Yura out with his routine on the weekends, he hasn’t had much time for things like haircuts. Besides, Victor doesn’t seem to mind it, and Yura likes to experiment hairstyles on Yuuri “so that if it looks stupid, I don’t have to see it on myself.”

It’s not that big a deal, except on days like this, when he sleeps in (thanks a lot Vitya) and doesn’t have the time to really get it under control. He usually meets up with his friends before class, and he doesn’t doubt that they’ll notice, and probably tease him about it.

They notice.

“Yuuri!” Estephania gasps, sounding too scandalized for her words to be anything but teasing. “What on earth happened to your hair?”

Yuuri flushes. “I was running late,” he mumbles.

Richard snorts. “You sure? Because that looks more like sex hair to me, man.”

“Ooh, he’s right,” Estephania coos before Yuuri can protest.

He wonders if it’s possible to die of embarrassment (especially since they’re not entirely wrong). “No, really I–”

“We know, sweetie.” She reaches up and moves his hair around a bit, trying to make it look presentable. “You’re just too easy to tease.”

“You sure you’re really twenty seven?” Richard raises an eyebrow.

Yuuri just smiles at the ground in fond humiliation (apparently it’s not a common emotion, but it’s a little hard not to be used to the feeling when he’s married to the world’s biggest drama queen) and nods. “I am.”

His friends are too much sometimes, he admits. Richard is the embodiment of America in a lot of ways: loud, completely lacking a sense of social norms, a walking personification of testosterone. Estephania is less… everything… than Richard, but she’s very touchy and affectionate in an entirely platonic way that reminds Yuuri a lot of Christophe, only without all of the innuendo. But they’re both loyal down to their very core, and they’re not bad people.

His phone starts ringing, Stammi Vicino playing loudly. Yuuri picks up, keeping his phone away from Estephania’s hands. “Да, Vitya?”

“Dude! You speak Russian too?” Richard looks like Yuuri just smacked him in the face. The school year just started, so they’re all still learning about each other.

Yuuri just smiles, since Victor is in the middle of one of his usual mid-morning crises. “Vitya, calm down,” he says in Russian. “Makkachin is probably out with Yura. You know he takes her for walks sometimes. Have you seen him today?”

He manages to get Victor off the phone just before class starts, flipping his phone to airplane mode since he’s sure that this isn’t the last he’ll be hearing from his lovable trainwreck of a husband.

Sterek ficlet inspired by this: “i grew up not knowing i was royal and now i guess i’m heir to a throne and you’re the guy who’s supposed to be teaching me how to be royal bc i suck at it and oops we made out” au

This is kind of Princess-Diaries-ish. I know that’s been done before in this fandom (and thank god it has—it’s awesome), but I couldn’t help myself. Yay for self-indulgence!

*

Stiles thought the most annoying thing about suddenly being a royal heir to a small eastern European kingdom he’s never heard of would be the hyper-aggressive paparazzi, but he was dead wrong.

The most annoying thing is actually Derek Hale, the guy Stiles’ grandmother hired to teach Stiles how not to screw this up.

“Princes don’t chew with their mouths open, Stiles.”

“Princes don’t shove an entire fistful of curly fries in their mouths, Stiles.”

“Princes don’t wear pink-and-green plaid shirts from Target, Stiles.”

“Princes don’t slouch.”

They don’t slump, either, or yawn or sneeze or cough in public, or fist-pump, or drive beat-up old blue Jeeps, or wear bright colors, or rock out to the radio, or do anything fun.

You slam the door behind you as you stomp into the motel room.  Dean is still in bed just rising up on his elbow rubbing the sleep from his eyes.

“Whoa, they didn’t have the right set of dumbbells, princess?”

“Ha, ha, Dean.  No they were closed.  A water main broke or something.  How am I supposed to exercise without a gym?

“You wanna come with me for a run?” Sam asks stepping out of the bathroom in his running gear.

You’re about to give Sam your “are-you-serious?” look when Dean chimes in.

“This one?  Go on a run with you?” Dean laughs from his bed.  “Don’t you remember that hunt when she was being chased by a ghoul?  She tried to speed walk away.”

“Shut up!” you throw one of your shoes at Dean.

Dean ducks down as it whizzes past his head.

“Don’t get me wrong sweetheart, you’re the fastest speed walker I’ve ever seen.”

You were greeted with the sound of the TV blaring from the living room when you opened the front door of your house. Although he couldn’t see or hear you, it didn’t stop you from letting out a small sigh accompanied with a smile to yourself as you untied your sneakers and put them away neatly on the shoe rack. The thick white socks you wore made your steps quiet.

As you padded into the house, you weren’t surprised to find your roommate sprawled on the floor with his back leaning against the lower half of the couch and his long legs stretched carelessly under the coffee table. He was staring at the show playing on his laptop on the table but you weren’t sure if he was really paying attention to it. At first you opened your mouth to check if he needed a call back to Earth, then you saw the gaggle of men and women sprinting across the screen and gasped.

“JUNGKOOK! How could you?!”

When Damen laces his hands together, the left thumb is on top. Laurent fixes this detail with a look that is, as it were, a warm-up for the look he’s about to direct at Damen’s face. Damen is perched on the edge of the plush, over-quilted, impeccably white satin bedspread, elbows resting on his spread knees. He is crushing some of the red rose petals. Laurent makes a mental note to send a production assistant in here with fresh ones before they film the individual segments after the cocktail party.

Someone knocks at the closed door and says, “Um, I think–”

No,” snarls Laurent, wasting the first and most icily searing few seconds of his expression on the door. Silence follows.

“All right, what is it?” Laurent demands of Damen. “Is it drugs? Do I need to send someone out for some cocaine? Do you have a fucking headache? Has a soft-hearted AD whom I will summarily fire snuck you your phone, and you’ve found out that your cat’s died?”

“No,” Damen says, apparently to all of the above. After a moment he adds, in a tone that Laurent can’t parse, “I don’t have a cat.”

“Then what the fuck is wrong with you? I’ve seen potato salad with more vivacity than you’re showing out there.”

“It’s all so–staged,” Damen says, with distaste.

Laurent manages not to roll his eyes, but the violence with which he wishes he were rolling his eyes causes dull pain to gather behind them like a stormcloud.

Kissing Booth: All Genders Welcome

“Well that’s something you don’t see every day,” Kayla noted as they stared at a booth in the Houston rodeo.

“I don’t think that’s sanitary,” Austin mumbled.

But Will was hardly paying attention. He was looking instead at the raven haired guy running the booth with a smile on his face and a jar in front of him. He was… well gorgeous. His features were sharp, angled, exotic even. His skin was a beautiful olive tone, his eyes dark, ringed with dark lashes, his lips plump, his cheekbones high.

Will was completely swept away.

Suddenly two elbows jabbed into his sides and he yelped, swatting his siblings. “Do you want to stand in line?” Austin asked with a smirk.

A scarlet blush filled Will’s cheeks and he scowled. “No! Of course not! That’s completely unhealthy and… ridiculous.”

“You sure? Because I have five bucks in my jeans. You can either get five pecks or one good make out,” Kayla said.

Blushing furiously, Will walked away, hands deep in his pockets as he mumbled and tried to slow his heart down. His siblings fell into step beside him, laughing at his expense. Will couldn’t help but glance back at the kissing booth which was brightly decorated and had a very decent line.

A darker girl with tight curls surrounding her heart-shaped face and golden eyes sat cross-legged on a chair beside the booth, calling out for people to stand in line. There was a smaller sign under the one that read Kissing Booth which said, “All genders welcome!”

He’d be lying if he said he wasn’t considering it.

Summary: Marinette has a phone stealing problem and Chat confronts her about it.

Marinette stood, phone in hand, in the boys’ locker room. “I can explain!” She blurted out.

Chat Noir stared at her.

She rushed to explain. “So, I recorded a really embarrassing voicemail right?” She gestured to the phone in her hand. “Alya said I should get it and delete it!” She said, he gave her an unimpressed look for selling out her friend.  She switched tactics to pleading. “Look, just… let me delete it. Please?” She looked at him imploringly. “Adrien, he’ll hate me if he hears it. So…” Marinette drooped. “Please?”

Chat blinked in surprise. “That’s M-Adrien Agreste’s phone?”

She nodded, a little bit of hope welling in her. “Yeah, he’s a friend and classmate of mine.” She looked at him and panicked. “I swear I’m not some fangirl or anything!”

He shook his head. “I know Marinette.” He considered her. “You shouldn’t have taken that from his locker.”

Marinette looked down at the ground in shame. “I know.” She said meekly.

“Look, Marinette, you’re a good person. Put the phone back in his locker and I won’t say anything. You can apologize for the voicemail later. He’ll forgive you.”

“How do you know that?” She asked quietly.

Chat frowned. “He’s got you for a friend right? Can’t be that bad of a guy.”

Marinette frowned back at him. “Of course he’s not a bad guy! He’s one of the most wonderful people I’ve ever met!” She said hotly.

Chat smiled widely. “Then he won’t hate you for such a small thing, right?”

Marinette’s anger deflated. “Right.” She muttered and then blinked. “Right, Adrien would never hate someone for something so small.” She smiled.

She padded over to Adrien’s locker and hesitated for only a moment before putting the phone in and shutting it.

She turned to Chat. “So, what are you doing in here?” She looked at him suspiciously.

Chat gained a look of panic on his face and quickly looked at his wrist. “Oh my God! Look at the time gotta go bye Princess see you later!” The door slammed as he quickly left.

Marinette stared after him in confusion and Tikki came to float up next to her. “I think we need to go too, Marinette.” Tikki pointed a paw at the door.

“Right Tikki, let’s go home.” Marinette nodded. She’d have to think about Chat’s odd behavior once she got home.

Instead, she forgot all about it when they had to deal with an akuma.

After Marinette had dealt with Copycat she had headed home with a cloud of dread hanging over her. By now Adrien had no doubt heard her voicemail. She knew Chat was right about him not hating her, but he could definitely still reject her. Tikki assured her that rejection was a rather reasonable worst case scenario.

She spent the evening with her phone in hand. She compulsively checked her messages for any response and kept the volume on high just in case he called.

An hour after she normally went to bed Tikki had intervened and forced her to bed. “Just take the phone with you!” Tikki added. An hour or two of sitting in her bed and staring at her phone caused her Kwami to intervene again. “He’s probably already asleep and planning to talk to you in the morning.” She plucked the phone out of Marinette’s hands amid her tired protests. “Go. To. Sleep. Marinette.”

“Thanks for looking out for me.” She murmured as she fell asleep.

Fun fact, Marinette was not a morning person. For the first time this was actually a good thing as she had completely forgotten about her problems from the day before. It wasn’t until she was running into class, late again, that she locked eyes with Adrien and found her panic returning.

Adrien smiled angelically at her in greeting. She tried to smile back, but it was more of a grimace than anything else.

She sat down and resolved not to worry about Adrien’s reaction to her voicemail. He hadn’t mentioned it so maybe he deleted it before listening to it. She crossed her fingers and then focused on her teacher.

School went by quickly as she, for once, payed complete attention in all of her classes. She tried her best not to think about the voicemail and by the time class was ending she was starting to believe Adrien really hadn’t listened to it.

You know, until he turned around in his seat and asked if they could talk.

She told Alya she was going to stay for a minute and the girl gave her a comforting pat on the back. She supposed Alya was concerned because she could see the distress on her face. She told Alya it would be fine. She knew that Adrien didn’t hate her and that would have to be enough. Even if he did reject her.

Once everyone had left Adrien hopped over her and Alya’s desk. He leaned against the edge of the desk and turned his head towards her.

“So amazing.” She murmured. His eyes widened and his cheeks reddened. She blinked. “Did I say that out loud?” She squeaked out.

He laughed softly. “Yes Marinette, and thank you.” He grinned at her.

She shifted in her seat and turned to stare at her desk. It was really hard to look directly at him when he laughed and impossible when he grinned. Like looking into the sun.

“You… got my voicemail then?” She asked. Her voice was shaking and she didn’t even know how she was managing full sentences.

He nodded and beamed at her. “I didn’t know you felt that way about me, Marinette.”

She flushed all the way to the roots of her hair. “I-I um.”

“I’m really flattered.” He added his smile not dimming an inch.

Her heart slowly fell. “Your welcome.” She said softly. He really was too kind, rejecting her in such a nice way.

He brought his hand up to the back of his neck and scratched nervously. “So then,” He cleared his throat. “Do you want to go to the cinema Friday night?” He gave her a hopeful smile.

She stared at him in shock. She hadn’t planned for the best case scenario. “Like a date?” She held her breath until he nodded. “Yes! Of course I’d love to! When is the movie? Where do you want to meet? Do you want to meet my-”

“Marinette.” He cut her off gently and her mouth slammed shut. “How about we text about all that stuff later. If I don’t go soon my father will have at me.” He chuckled.

Marinette nodded rapidly. “Of course. Whatever you want, Adrien.”

After they had exchanged phone numbers and Adrien had left Marinette found herself slowly walking home with a goofy grin on her face. The grin didn’t fade even a bit as she did her homework and chores.

She finally got a hold of herself when Chat knocked lightly on the hatch to her room. She let him in and soon they were sharing a couple of cookies she had brought up for Tikki.

“Thanks for not telling Adrien about the phone thing.” She said gratefully. She took a bite from her cookie

Chat actually chuckled at that, a few crumbs falling from his mouth. “Not a problem.” He smirked. “Considering the look on your face I’m assuming Adrien wasn’t angry about the voicemail.”

She nodded the goofy grin taking up her whole face once more. “I can’t believe he asked me out.” The grin dropped off her face. “Oh no! What am I going to wear?” She was about to go into a panic when she heard Chat laugh.

She turned to him and pouted. “What’s so funny?”

He shook with laugher before smiling at her. “I think you’re cute and I’m sure whatever you’ll wear he’ll think so too.”

She blushed. “Um, thanks?” She couldn’t help but imitate Adrien from early by scratching at the back of her own neck in embarrassment.

Chat smiled. “No need to thank me. Just, can you do me one favor?” She nodded. He seemed almost nervous. “Try your best to have fun, okay?” He implored.

She smiled. “Of course. It’s Adrien after all.”

He flushed at her words and then smiled. “I got to get going.” He said and grabbed one last cookie. “Good luck with your date.” He said genuinely.

She grinned happily at him. “Thanks, I’m going to need it.”

He shook his head. “You’ll do fine.” He said confidently. “Thanks for the cookies!” He said as he left.

She waved goodbye and sighed. “Right.” She looked at her desk. “I have three days to make a sundress.” She cracked her knuckled with a smirk. “Let’s get to work.”

Tikki sighed form her hiding space. “Adrien won’t know what hit him.” She shook her tiny head and glanced at the hatch Chat had just left through. “Or maybe he will.” She smiled secretly.

Tikki looked down. “Wait. What happened to my cookies?!” She wailed.

Marinette looked at her apologetically. “Sorry, me and Chat ate them.”

Tikki fell face down onto the plate and moaned. “Noooooooooooo.” She groaned.

Marinette shook her head and smiled. She’d have to go get Tikki some more cookies soon. Chat had really enjoyed them as well. Maybe she should try to get him to come back for some more?

Humming happily at the idea, Marinette returned to sketching out the beginning of her dress.

“He did what?!”

“He jumped o-”

“I heard you the first time, I just.. he did what?!

Steve gave you a half smile, approaching you slowly to give you a reassuring hug but you held up your hand to stop him and he did. Glaring at him, he held up his hands in surrender and let you walk around him and down to the medical bay.

“Y/N, printsessa how are you today?” Pietro stepped in front of you, stopping you in your quest. Narrowing your eyes, you sent him a death glare that was cold as ice within a second he was out of your way.

When you finally reached the door to the medical bay Tony appeared. You groaned and tried walking around him but he stepped in front of you. Smiling like nothing was wrong. You glared at him.

“That look might work on everyone else, but not me, kiddo,” he smiled teasingly and went to ruffle your hair, you slapped his hand away.

Come With Me

// Draco Malfoy x Gryffindor!reader.

Requested: No.

Summary: Hermione and Y/n are in potions class when the Yule Ball comes up.

Rating: Mid-fluff.

Title: Come with Me. //

“Bloody hell y/n.”

You glance over at Hermione, confused at her sudden outburst.

“What’s the matter?” You ask.

“You messed up the potion. It called for bat wing, not bat spleen. Now we’ve got to start all over.” Her voice is filled with frustration as she begins preparing to make a new potion, and a sigh escapes your lips. You murmur an apology and pretend to begin working on the potion again. Hermione sighs loudly and turns to you. “Something’s obviously on your mind. You’ve been awfully quiet recently…” You glance up at Hermione, who gives her an exasperated look. “Well, tell me! What’s going on, why have you been acting so…so…strange?” You close your eyes and shake your head softly.

“It’s just…the Yule Ball.”

“The ball? Why’s that bothering you?” You open your eyes and meet Hermione’s confused gaze.

“No one’s asked me yet,” you state, turning back around to work on the project.

“Well, I’m sure if you asked Harry he would gladly take y-”

“I don’t want to go with Harry!” You whisper fiercely, whipping around in your seat. “It’s just…the person I want to ask me…he hasn’t. And he won’t.” Hermione sighs.

“I know the feeling, trust me.”

“I shouldn’t even like him. He’s a bloody idiot, it’s just…”

“Something about him,” Hermione finishes your sentence, staring off into space. “I know how you feel y/n, but you can’t just wait around for him to ask you. You’ve got to express yourself.”

“Oh, like you’re one to talk.” You tease, a smile replacing the small frown on your face. Hermione laughs softly and shakes her head, turning back to the potion.

“I know, I know. So…who is it?” You shake your head.

“No, no, no.” You say quickly. Hermione raises an eyebrow at her but doesn’t reply. She lets out a loud sigh instead, which gets the attention of the group in front of them. Draco turns around in his seat, leaning over the back of his chair.

“Is perfect little Granger having trouble with her potion?” He asks, nudging Pansy (who had been his partner because he was late to class). She laughs quietly, leaning forward like him. “Granger having trouble in class? That’s unheard of.” She doesn’t say anything; just keeps her head down, so Draco continues. “How are your parents doing, Granger?”

“They’re fine, Malfoy. I’d like it if you’d turn around and leave me alone.” He raises his eyebrows, and you can feel your cheeks burning– half from the second-hand embarrassment and half due to the fact that he was so close. You duck your head and hunch your shoulders slightly, trying to hide your face as you continue to work. This not only causes Pansy to look over at you, but Hermione and Draco.

“What? Not going to say anything to defend your friend?” Pansy squeaks, smiling smugly. You swallow roughly before looking up slowly, praying that the heat in your face has died down.

“Well,” you begin, casting your gaze towards Hermione. You take in her puzzled expression before you meet Draco’s gaze, and smile sweetly. “I wasn’t going to waste my breath correcting Draco. I mean, if I started I don’t think I’d ever breathe again-” Draco’s smile instantly disappears and he tilts his head.

“What did you call me?” Pansy’s eyes widen slightly as your mouth drops open. When you realize, his gaze is fixed entirely on you. You can feel the heat rising to your face.

“W-what?” You stammer, not daring to meet his gaze. His head tilts.

“Did you call me Draco?” He mutters. Hermione glances over at you, her eyes narrowing instantly.

“That is your name, isn’t it?” Hermione says, saving you from having to respond. Draco looks over at her, the sneer returning to his face.

“No one calls me that,” he says, his gaze sliding over to you again. “Why did you call me that?” Your eyebrows raise slightly, the pink returning to your face again.

“I don’t know what you mean,” you manage to say. Pansy picks up on the uncertainty in your voice, and in only a few seconds she erupts in a fit of giggles. One of Draco’s eyebrows shoots up and he glances over at her, a look of annoyance on his face.

“Did you hear her?” She snorts, her laughter stopping immediately as she meets your gaze. “I don’t know what you mean,” she mocks. “I don’t know how I didn’t see this before, but I have to admit, this is hilarious.” Hermione glances between Pansy, Draco and you, a look of disgust crossing her face.

No.” She murmurs, shooting a glare over at you. “No way.

At this point, Draco seems to be the only one who hasn’t caught on yet. You clench your jaw slightly as you feel the heat rising to your face even more intensely than before. This causes Pansy to laugh even more.

“What’s wrong, y/n? Someone flustered?” She pushes out her bottom lip in a pout. “Can’t talk to him? Can’t even look at him? Poor. Little. Y/n. Was he not supposed to know?” Hermione rolls her eyes.

“Get over it, Pansy. As if she’d care about someone like Malfoy.” Hermione comments, glancing over at you. You can tell by the look in her eyes that you would be talking about this later. Her comment seems to finally put everything else into place in Draco’s mind. His eyes light up slightly as it all falls into place, and his gaze slides over to you.

When you glance up your eyes instantly lock with his.

“What?” You ask, forcing as much annoyance into your voice as possible. His lips tip upwards as his eyes narrow slightly. “W-what?” You ask again. Your cheeks turn even redder as Pansy laughs softly. This finally causes Draco to break eye contact and he turns to Pansy.

“How ‘bout you keep bloody quiet, Pansy?” Her laughter gets stuck in her throat as her eyes widen from shock. She glances up at him.

“Oh, but Draco- isn’t it-”

“I don’t see how it’s funny,” he comments, glancing back at you again. “You fancy me- so what if she does too?”

“But- it’s"

“I don’t see how it’s funny,” he comments, glancing back at you again. “You fancy me- so what if she does too?”

“But- it’s y/n.”

“Mhm…” He mumbles, turning around to you. “It is.” His head tilts and he smiles softly- a genuine smile, before turning back around, forcing Pansy to too.

He glances over his shoulder one more time before turning around and focusing on the potion.

“What was all of that about?” Hermione whispers. “You like Malfoy?”

“Ugh…Hermione, please. I don’t want to talk about this right now.” You whisper, covering your blushing face with your hands. “…but, yes. I do.”

Another small smile slips onto Draco’s face as he hears your comment, and he adds the next ingredients to the potion before pulling out a slip of paper and scribbling something on it quickly.

You’re just recovering from your embarrassment as class ends, and you stand up, gathering your books into your bag quickly. Draco slides out of his chair gracefully and passes your table, making brief eye contact with you before dropping a paper by your feet.

“You dropped your-” Your sentence is cut off by a small smile, and what looks like a wink from Draco. You close your mouth quickly, and, feeling your cheeks heat up once more, you crouch down and pick up the paper, unfolding it.

Come with me to the ball, y/n? –Draco.

Summary: You move back to town after years and decide to remake yourself. Betty and Veronica push Archie to find a date to the dance and he asks you out. Little do they know, you had a summer fling with Jughead that ended badly, although you both still have feelings for each other.

You lived in Riverdale until fourth grade, when your dad landed a great job in another town. You never really had many friends, so you knew nobody would really care, but the hardest part was leaving the boy you liked. Archie, Jughead, and Betty would always be playing together on the playground and you couldn’t help but follow them around, hoping that they’d let you be their friend. They were nice to you, but never really understood why you were always around.

It was the summer before sophomore year when your dad lost his job and decided to move back to his hometown of Riverdale. Again, you never really had any friends, so it wasn’t hard to move. You decided to remake yourself over the summer, before unveiling the new you on the first day of school. You wouldn’t tell anybody you had come back until then. Unfortunately, that plan didn’t work, since you moved into the house next to Jughead.

It was the first day of school, and you worked hard on your hair and makeup so you could fit in better. Before first period, you saw Archie and Betty talking, but couldn’t gather the courage to say hi. There was no sign of Jughead anywhere. The rest of the day went by uneventful, with nobody bothering to talk to you. You were so tired of being ignored that when you heard about cheerleading tryouts, you made yourself try out. You needed to make friends, and you were pretty good at dancing so why not? The audition went pretty well and you were soon welcomed to the team. Things were looking up for you.

The next day, you strutted down the halls in your new cheerleading uniform and your favorite shade of lipstick. You felt powerful and ready to take on the world, so when you saw Archie, Betty, Jughead, and some other girl you didn’t even hesitate. “Hey, Archie. Hey, Betty.” you said nonchalantly before walking off.

“Who was that?” Veronica asked after you were out of earshot.

“[Y/N] [Y/L/N],” Jughead sighed as he leaned against a locker a few feet away, his gaze moving to the floor.

“Wait, that’s [Y/N]?” Archie asked, surprised to see you back in town. He craned his neck around his open locker to try to get another look at you, but you’d already rounded a corner.

“Who is [Y/N]?” Veronica asked Betty, looking puzzled.

“She used to live here when we were little. She always followed us around on the playground because she had a crush on Archie. I guess she moved back to town.” Betty stated.

“She doesn’t even seem like the same person.” Archie said, still awestruck by you.

THE NEXT DAY

Betty, Veronica, Archie, and Kevin were sitting together for lunch, discussing the next school dance.

“Oh come on, Archie, who are you gonna take to the dance?” Veronica asked.

“If you don’t decide soon, then we’re going to have to find a date for you,” Betty teased.

“I can find you a date, but it probably won’t be a girl,” Kevin interjected, causing everyone to laugh.

“No, I don’t need you to find me a date. There’s already someone I like.” Archie stated. He couldn’t tell them about Ms. Grundy, but he couldn’t let them set him up with some random girl he didn’t know either.

There was a collective “oooohhhh” at the table. “Who is it?” Veronica demanded.

“Uh, you’ll see at the dance.” Archie said, hoping his lie came off as nerves.

“Somebody’s just being shy.” Veronica teased.

“Yeah.” Archie sighed, frustrated that he was now in this situation.

THAT EVENING.

Archie and Jughead sat at a booth at Pop’s, both drinking milkshakes.

“Archie, what’s wrong? You seem distant.” Jughead asked, after popping the cherry from his shake into his mouth.

Archie sighed before explaining the situation he was in. “I need to find a girl who isn’t caught up in any of this drama, so it doesn’t cause any more problems.” He finished.

“None of this would be happing if it weren’t for Grundy,” Jughead leaned in and whispered to Archie, looking around to make sure nobody had heard him.

“Listen, Jughead, I know. But it’s happened.” Archie stated dryly, not pleased with Jughead’s reaction.

Jughead saw Archie’s face, and sighed. “How about that girl in our biology class? The one with the glasses?” He suggested.

You entered Pop’s Diner from the door behind the booth they were sitting at. Archie faced the door and saw you come in.

“Hey Archie.” You greeted him as you walked past the booth, making sure not to look at Jughead.

“Hey,” Archie waved as you walked by. Suddenly, his face lit up with an idea. “Wait, [Y/N].”

You turned around and walked back to their table. You snuck a tiny glance at Jughead, who had his full attention on his milkshake. “Yeah Archie?” You asked pleasantly.

“Uh, I was wondering…” Archie sounded nervous. “Do you wanna go to the dance with me?”

Jughead coughed loudly, clearly startled by what was happening. You smirked. This must be driving him up a wall, you thought. “Sure, Archie. Let me give you my number.” He handed you his phone and you could feel Jughead’s intense gaze on you as you put your number into Archie’s phone. You handed his phone back.

“I’ll text you when I get home. Bye, Archie.” You glanced at Jughead. “Bye, Jughead.” You said sweetly, knowing it would make him angry.

You stopped by the counter to pay for your food, before you headed for the door. You couldn’t help but look at Jughead. He was staring at you with anger and sadness in his eyes. You felt bad for what you just did to him, but oh well. He was the one who ended it. You held his gaze for a second as the memories washed over you.

FLASHBACK

It was the 4th of July, the third day after you moved to Riverdale. You only hung out in your house and sometimes sat on the curb reading when you wanted to get outside. That night you were rereading your favorite book as a figure walked down the street. It was Jughead. He had already known you moved back, as your parents made you greet the neighbors the day you moved.

“Hey Jughead.” You said, glancing up from your book.

“Hey.” Jughead sounded angry.

You closed your book and set it on the curb before standing up. “What’s wrong?” You asked, standing in front of him so he couldn’t move past you.

“Please just move, [Y/N].” He sighed.

“Tell me what’s wrong.” You demanded.

He sighed. “I was supposed to hang out with an old friend, but he cancelled on me at the last minute.”

“Archie?” You asked.

He nodded, and you could tell he was angry and hurt.

“Well why don’t you come in and have a frosted lemonade with an old friend?” You asked. He was the only person your age that knew you were back in Riverdale, why not have a friend to hang out with?

He smirked at your effort, but still refused. “No, I just want to go home.”

“Oh come on. Nobody can resist my frosted lemonade.” Before he could protest, you grabbed his hand and dragged him up the stairs into your house. His warm hand on yours sent tiny lightening bolts all the way up your arm.

After a nice conversation and a drink, you remembered something.

“Oh, Jughead I have something to show you!” You said excitedly, as you grabbed his hand again. You felt the tiny shock again as you lead him upstairs and into your room.

“Sit there.” You gestured to a spot on your bed, as you headed into your closet to retrieve something. After a few minutes of searching you found it.

You emerged from the closet holding up a tiny necklace. It had your initials and the letters JJ engraved on a heart. “Do you remember this? Your mom made you give it to me because she wanted us to get married.” You laughed. “I forgot that I used to call you JJ.”

He laughed, “Nobody else would call me that, but you. You always thought it was funny that nobody else thought of that.”

“Here put it on me.” You said excitedly handing it to him, and turning around so he could clasp the necklace around your neck.

His hands gently reached around your neck and closed the necklace. You felt the same warmth on your neck as his fingers touched the back of your neck. You blushed slightly, thinking about your old crush.

“Hey, I want to tell you something.” You said turning around. “You know how I followed you guys around a lot when we were little?”

“Yeah.”

“Well I didn’t really have any friends and I followed you around because I had a really big crush.”

“Yeah, I remember you liked Archie.”

“No, JJ. It was you I had a crush on.” You said, looking into his eyes. He stared into your eyes intensely.

“Really?” He asked quietly, taking a step closer to you. What was happening? You asked yourself.

“Yeah.” You said, your breathing started to get heavier.

Before you knew what was happening, Jughead had placed a hand under your chin, pushing it up so he could meet his lips with yours.

PRESENT DAY

You snapped out of your daydream. Jughead was still staring at you angrily. You didn’t care. He was the one who hurt you. You turned towards the door and walked out.

Connor and Evan are hanging out with weed and beer and Evan is a lightweight and a very talkative drunk. (Gay)
TW: smoking, weed, alcohol, mentions of depression, anxiety

“I want to get high. Or drunk. Or both” Evan stated bluntly. Him and his friend, Connor were sitting in Connor’s bed, watching tv.

“What?”

“You know how life fucking sucks? Like really fucking sucks with school and anxiety and depression and all that, well it’s being shittier than usual right now and you use weed or alcohol to take the edge off when life is being a bitch, and life is being a bitch so I want something to repress it for a couple hours. It’s ok if you don’t want to give me anything because they’re yours and not mine but I was just wondering and you know what, you don’t have to give me anything, it’s fine I’ll live without it. Sorry for even asking.”

“No dude it’s fine. I got you.” He said as he got up from his spot on his bed. He crossed the room to his closet and shuffled through some clothes and boxes until he found what he needed. He pulled a joint, a black lighter, and two bottles of beer. He lit the joint and handed it to Evan along with one of the beers. “Here you go.”

“Thanks.” Evan grabbed it gingerly and brought it to his mouth. He breathed in and started coughing immediately.

“That’s normal, you’ll cough for the first couple hits. Then you’ll hopefully get used to it. ”

“Ok.” Silence. “I feel edgy like I’m doing bad things without my mom’s knowledge. Do you always feel like a rebel ‘cause this is cool. We should go rob a bank or steal an old lady’s purse. Something like that!” Evan exclaimed.

“I think someone’s getting too edgy, do I need to take that away from you?”

“No, I’m sorry.”

“Don’t apologize you didn’t do anything wrong.”

“Sorry.”

“You didn’t do anything, if fine!”

“Are you sure?”

“Yes! I’m 147% sure. Now can you pass the joint?” Evan handed over silently. The two boys sat and drank and smoked and just talked and laughed until everything was gone. Evan was wasted after the one beer and half a joint because he is such lightweight, while Connor was barely tipsy. Evan was giggling in Connor’s bed over how funny the wall looked. 'Damn he looks cute,’ Connor thought.

“Hey Ev, I’m going to the bathroom I’ll be right back. Don’t leave this room, ok?” Evan, who was now laughing uncontrollably, managed to say an ok through his hysteria.

Connor was only gone for two minutes, at the most, but when he came back Evan was sitting on the bed, a different person, as he was yelling at the taller boy.

“AH! Who are you? Get out of my room!” He pointed

“Ev, I’m Connor, and this is my room.” He said slowly crossing over to Evan, trying to assure him that he was ok, but also getting kind of annoyed because this could potentially be a big problem.

“This isn’t your room you’re a liar!”

“What the fuck Evan, it’s Connor. I was gone for two minutes how’d you forget?” Connor was now standing at the edge of the bed next to Evan, who was sitting as far back from Connor as he could.

“You’re not Connor you imposter! But woah. You sorta look like him.” Evan crawled up to the edge of the bed and cradled his hands around the other boy’s face, feeling the features.

“What are you doing?”

“Touching you.”

“Why?”

“Because you look like my friend Connor.”

“Oh do I now?” Connor asked, now playing along with Evan’s drunken state.

“Ya, but you’re not as cute as him.”

Connor blushed, “he’s not that cute.”

“Oh but he is! His hair is long and beautiful and so soft, I could run my hands through it all day. And when he has it up in a bun it’s gorgeous and it makes his face look even better, and his face, oh his face. He doesn’t smile much, but when he does, there crinkles around his mouth that make his smile ten million times more beautiful. He also has the most amazing eyes. The most beautiful things in the world. I could stare into them for hours but I can’t because he’ll think I’m weird. But they’re a pale blue, kinda like the color of faded jeans or the sky, and the right one has a spot of brown in the corner. I don’t think he likes it because whenever it’s brought up he gets a little mad, like he never wanted because it makes him the 'kid with the weird eye’, but I think it makes him different and unique and beautiful.”

“What else do you like about him?” Conner egged Evan’s drunken rambling on to see what else he’d say about him.

“Connor Murphy is nice, and he’s getting better and further away from mean secluded Connor, but nobody cares to see that in him, but they still think of him as old Connor and that makes me mad. I just want Connor to be happy because of all the shit he’s been through, he deserves it. And Connor is also really funny too! His jokes make me laughs hard, that one time milk shot out of my nose. It really hurt, but it was a really good joke. I think it was about Jared. He’s so amazing and he deserves all the love in the world and I love him so much, since the day I met him I felt something for him, but he’ll never reciprocate my affections because he’s probably straight, and even if he liked boys there are better ones than me, so it’s pointless but I can’t let go of it. Just don’t tell him that I said all this because he might get mad and not want to hang out with me anymore or be my best friend and I don’t want that so I’m just going to keep quiet.”

Connor was flabbergasted. Evan, his crush since forever, his unrequited love, just drunkenly admitted his feelings about him. Connor was blushing so hard, he probably looked like a tomato. “You really do like him huh?”

“More than anything.”

Connor blushed harder than ever, and was probably brighter than a tomato. “Wow. I think he likes you too.”

“Really! You think?! No way, you’re lying.”

“He told me.”

“Holy shit.” Evan’s face glowing with his beautiful, radiant, signature Evan Hansen smile. He couldn’t believe it. “Hey, I’m tired, I’m gonna go to bed.” Evan laid down on the bed and instantly feel asleep.

“Holy fuck.” Connor muttered to himself. Evan talks a lot while drunk, but damn, he just admitted his love for Connor freaking Murphy of all people. He looked over at the boy in his bed, his eyes closed and he looked peaceful and adorable. He just wanted to hold him and protect him. Connor put a blanket over Evan’s body and crawled into the spot next to him, but leaving space between them, and fell asleep, smiling.

The next morning, Evan awoke with a pounding headache, reeking of weed, and no recollection of anything after he started drinking and smoking. It took him a minute to realize where he was, in Connor’s room, in Connor’s bed, with his arms around Connor. Shit. Did they sleep together? No, they both still had on their clothes. But Evan was holding a sleeping Connor in his arms. What is he suppose to do, take his arms away, and wake up Connor and have to explain that he had his arms around Connor, or does he stay and have to explain why he was holding the other. Evan decided that he’d do neither and pretend to fall back asleep and deal with it later. He was a minute deep into his plan when he sneezed and woke up the boy in his arms.

“Sorry,” Evan squeaked, unwrapping his arms from the other.

“About what, I just woke up.”

“For waking you and having my arms around you I didn’t even know I did it I woke up like that a-”

“Evan.”

“Ya?”

“It’s fine, don’t worry about it.”

“Are you sure?”

“Positive.”

“100%?”

“110% sure.”

“Thank you, also, sorry to ask, what happened last night, I don’t remember anything.”

“Don’t apologize, but you don’t remember anything?”

“Nothing, the last thing I remember is taking a hit.”

“Really?”

“Yes! Did I do something terrible? Please tell me! From what it looks like I did something bad, please tell me I didn’t do anything bad. ”

“No, you just talked a lot.”

“Oh god, sorry if I said anything embarrassing.”

“No, you just went on and on about how beautiful I was.”

“Did I? That’s embarrassing! I’m sorry, I didn’t mean to make you uncomfortable, I don’t like like you in a gay way because you’re not my type or anything but I’m not saying that I don’t like you, I like you but not that way.”

Connor was kind of hurt that Evan was denying everything he said. “You said you loved me last night.“

Evan started to panic, but tried his best to not show it. He couldn’t believe he did that. Evan decided he’d never get wasted again. “I didn’t mean it I swear I didn’t I was just out of it. Please don’t hate me.”

“You seemed pretty sure last night. Talking about how beautiful my eyes were and how much you loved my personality while you were holding my face. To me it seemed pretty legit.” Connor tried to see if Evan was was truthful in his drunken moments or not, hoping that Evan really did love him.

"Fuck. I’m sorry. I do really like you a lot and I didn’t mean to make you uncomfortable or anything. I understand if you hate me now and want me to leave I should go r-” Connor smashed their lips together. Evan was so shocked, he forgot to kiss back.

“I love you too Ev.” Connor said after they parted.

Evan was a blushing mess, “Can we do that again?” Connor nodded and connected them again.

JILY CHALLENGE | @howlingremus vs @queensaphrodite
lonely hearts club (marina and the diamonds) + muggle librarian!au

for my amazing partner, @queensaphrodite! and for elena (@meraudurs) and nai (@hiddenpolkadots), for inspiring me to write and create (and for helping me edit this <3)

The library closes far too early, in her opinion. Sure, it closes at eight, and sure, maybe she ought to try just showing up earlier, but in her defense, it isn’t solely her fault. She only gets off work at five, and there are just so many books to read. How are three hours anywhere near enough?

She frequents the place almost every day, knows it like the back of her hand. But there’s something off about it today. Maybe it’s the fact that the historical fiction section switched places with the biography section, but that was last week.

Lily grabs her books and walks up to the counter to ask Peggy whether or not there’s a copy of Everything, Everything available and oh shit that’s what’s different.

There’s a different librarian - a bloke - at the desk, with hair too messy to be legal, glasses too outdated to be unintentionally bought, and a shirt too wrinkled to ever have come in contact with an iron. He’s the kind of fellow who’d be perfect as the main character as one of the books Lily wants to check out - maybe a Peter Pan or a Percy Jackson kind of fellow.

Lily blinks.

Well, fuck.

He looks up from fiddling with the cuffs of his button-down, meets her gaze for a moment, and cocks an eyebrow.

“You’re the first person under forty I’ve seen so far.” His voice almost seems to echo, and it’s much louder than most librarians tend to be.

Lily can’t even tell if he’s being dense or just kind of cocky, but she’ll place her bet on the latter. It’s clear as day in the way he holds himself - self-assured, unashamed, even a bit arrogant but still good-natured.

She crosses her arms. “That’s not true, and you know it. You’re literally right next to the freaking children’s section.”

The bloke laughs, a sound almost out of place in this quiet library. She owes herself twenty dollars.

“Check and mate, I guess. But then again, it’s not like I can really see them.” He taps his glasses with a ridiculously long finger. “They’re getting smaller every day, I swear.”

Lily even smiles at that for a second, before stuffing it back where it came from. This arrogant, loud-mouthed (they’re in a fucking library, has he no sense of volume?), far-too-handsome idiot has no place in this library of hers.

(All the same, she wouldn’t mind reading about someone like him.)

“Yeah, sure” she says, quickly, trying to get to the point. “Listen, do you guys have another copy of Everything, Everything?”

He shrugs. “Hell if I know.”

Lily is done with this bloke. She makes her way around the desk to where he’s sitting, pushes away his chair (“Oi, what d’ya think you’re doing?” but he doesn’t sound particularly annoyed, just curious), opens up the catalog page on the monitor in front of him (the first thing she sees when she opens it up is a March Madness bracket - she now kind-of-sort-of-really wants to punch the guy), and soundlessly types in the words Everything, Everything.

No more copies available, but there’s one currently on hold. And it’s not hers. Damnit.

The guy standing behind her takes a look at her screen, and she can hear him let out a breath. “Oh, shit, that book? Isn’t that the one with like the mysterious guy and the girl who’s supposed to be sick but - “

Lily hastily shoves out her hand, as if to slap it over his rambling mouth. “No spoilers!” she all but yells. And she realizes that she’s being such a hypocrite right now, so she adds, a little bit more quietly, “Please.”

The bloke smirks, like he knows exactly what she’s thinking. “Alright, then.” He peers over at the screen once more, and Lily presses the power button. She gets up, and moves over to the side of the desk that she ought to be on.

“Well,” she says curtly, trying not to smile (for some reason) at this endearing annoying stranger. “Thanks.”

He grins at her. “Don’t mention it.”

Suddenly, something occurs to Lily. “Hold on,” she says slowly. “You’ve read this book?”

For some reason, the bloke turns red. “Er - um, no? I got it for my friend…Marlene? And like I read the summary on the back -”

Lily smirks. “Liar. You’ve totally read it.”

If possible, he turns even redder - it’s quite a funny sight. “I was bored, alright? And it was lying around - I really had bought it for Marlene - and I…may have skimmed it?”

Lily laughs and tucks a strand of red hair behind her ear.  “Why are you acting so defensive? It’s just a book, relax.”

“Well, it’s not as good as the Percy Jackson series.” Besides the point, but Lily can’t deny that it’s true.

“Fair,” she admits.

She notices a watch on his hand (it looks extraordinarily beat-up, made of old leather and a face of cracked glass), and checks the time. Crap, the library closes in a few minutes. “I really should be going,” she says, making sure she has all the books she wants before turning around.

(She’s not sure if she’s imagining it, but the librarian’s face seems to fall slightly.)

Just as Lily’s about to head back, she hears a quiet “Wait.” She turns around.

“What is it?”

“Er.” The librarian looks…pretty sheepish, and he rubs the back of his neck. “What - what does it say on your shirt?”

Lily almost rolls her eyes, and she pulls back the cardigan she’s wearing.

I left my heart in a book,” the guy reads. He looks back up at her.

“Is that, like, for a book club or something?”

Lily stares at him in confusion. “Sorry?”

“The shirt - you must’ve got it from some sort of club.”

“I…got it from Macy’s? So no, not a book club.”

He looks quizzically at her. “You know, you should probably make that shirt a book club, then.”

Lily raises an eyebrow. “For hearts in books?”

“Yeah, something like that. Like, aggressive bibliophiles or something.”

She perches herself on the desk, her legs starting to get tired of standing, and almost ends up knocking over a stapler. “Who’d join?”

“I would.”

“Seriously?”

“Yeah, and I’d grab some friends, too. Get some drinks, maybe some fries, and master the art of abandoning our poor, forsaken hearts in some dusty old books.”

Lily actually lets out a laugh. “I - don’t think that’s what it means.”

“But wouldn’t that be more dramatic?”

Come to think of it, it would be. Lily tries to envision it, but the only thing that really comes to mind is some sort of cult with an obsession for Bram Stoker and Mary Shelley. And they, of course, take their fries with a small cup of blood.

Anyways. She shrugs, and gets off the desk. “You do have a flair for the dramatics, then. Say, who the hell are you?”

His hands fly up to his hair - for what, to make it even messier? - and ends up almost knocking his glasses off the bridge of his nose.

“Stop giggling, bloody hell. And it’s James.”

Against her better judgement (sod it all, rational thought), she reaches over and pushes up his glasses. His hazel eyes follow her fingers, and he looks a little bit cross-eyed. It’s all a little bit sweet.

“James, is it? Well, I’m Lily, founder of the Hearts in Books Club.” The bloke - James, now - snorts at that, only causing to Lily to giggle even more.

James looks down at his watch . “I think the library closes right about now, you’d best be off.”

Lily swears under her breath, and James raises an eyebrow.

“Now, what was that?” The accent he’s putting on sounds a bit like some old-fashioned English professor, which kind of goes with the button-down, but not with the hair. “You do know you’re near the children’s section, next to so many impressionable young minds - you wouldn’t want to give them the wrong idea -”

“Oh, sod off,” she says, but not before glancing over to see if there’s anyone under the age of ten watching them. She checks to see if she still has all her books, and actually turns to leave.

“See you, Jimmy.” She smirks.

“OI, WATCH IT!”

~

Once she turns the corner, she can’t stop smiling. And even once she gets home and picks up her books and tries to - tries to lose her heart in them, damnit, she can’t stop thinking of James and the Hearts in Books Club and that damn hair.

Fuck, she thinks.

~

Lily returns to the library the next day, of course - she needs to pick up the sequel to Six of Crows, the novel she just finished.

(And she may or may not want to see if James is there.)

(He isn’t. Peggy is back, and though she loves Peggy, she’s a bit disappointed.)

(What is wrong with me, she thinks.)

After finding Crooked Kingdom, finally, she traipses over to the holds section. As far as she remembers, she doesn’t have anything on hold, but it’s always good to check.

There’s a book in her slot.

Furrowing her brows, she reaches up (and, quite embarrassingly, has to get up her tippy-toes; damn her lack of height), and grabs it. It’s hardcover, feels pretty new, and strangely enough, it doesn’t have that clear library binding around it.

The cover reads Everything, Everything. It’s the book she wanted yesterday - the one that the library shouldn’t have an available copy of. Confused, Lily opens the front cover, and the first thing she sees is a little note on a yellow Post-It, scribbled in Sharpie.

Lily,

Can this be the first book of the Hearts in Books Club?

See you Thursdays and Tuesdays.

- James.

There’s a little smiley face doodled next to her name, and Lily feels a strange, swooping feeling that she normally only feels at the end of a really good book.

And oh, fuck, she can’t stop grinning.

(But maybe, when she gets home, it’s something more than the book itself - something having to do with the note on the inside front cover - that prompts her to read it over and over again).

(Maybe. Just maybe).

The Birds and the Bees (Jughead x Reader)

Imagine: You’re hopelessly in love with your boyfriend, Jughead Jones. When the subject of physical intimacy comes up one day with your best friends, you find yourself afraid and in doubt.

Saturdays were one of your favorite days of the week.

Veronica would pull up in her luxury car and take you and Betty to the Galleria outside of town. You both would follow her around as she surveyed the newest imports and replenished her gorgeous wardrobe, talking and laughing the whole time. The wares of the Galleria were far above anything you could ever afford with your minimum-wage income, but you adored the two girls you would spend the day with.

Veronica always had the best gossip. Mostly passed along from Kevin, who refused to join (”I will not play into that gay stereotype!”), Veronica always had stories ranging from the scary to the scandalous to the just plain hilarious.

“And the cross-country team caught her getting it up the ass on a stump in the woods!” Veronica said, laughing over her kale smoothie.

“Ronnie!” Betty scolded, face red. You could tell she was suppressing laughter as well, sipping on her strawberry smoothie.

Anyway,” Veronica said, slapping her hands on the patio table in finality. “What about you, (Y/N)?” She grinned devilishly.

“Got any good sex stories yet?”

Part One

“Keep it tight or you’ll never hit the landing on dismount. You never get it right, and honestly how you took the gold last year is beyond me.” Lance walked up to you and looked dawn at you.

You stood with your hands on your hips, taking a deep breath. “Seriously Y/N, am I going to have to tie your legs together or something?”

“No.”

“Do it right next time or I swear I’ll do it.” Lance walked back from the mat and headed towards the cooler to grab a water. You rolled your eyes and walked back to the bar. You looked over at Lance, who wasn’t even paying attention before looking back to the bar and jumped. You gained your momentum and began doing the routine.

Once it came time to dismount you prepared yourself and let go, flipping and hitting the mat with the heels of your feet, almost maintaining your balance but ultimately losing and falling onto your back. You put your hands over your eyes and forehead sighing loudly while Lance started yelling again, his voice growing louder as he neared you. You shut him out and just focused on your breathing, trying to calm yourself of all the stress that had clouded your head lately. Your parents were on your ass about moving on and doing something else with your life, since they never really were supportive of your gymnastics.

“Y/N! Are you even listening to me?”

“It’s hard not to when you’re fucking screaming.”

“Watch it.” Lance squatted down next to you. “That attitude shit isn’t going to get you anywhere with me.”

You sat up and looked at your coach.

“What the hell is going on? You were perfect, haven’t missed anything for what, 4 years now? You’re probably on your last campaign this year, you are almost 21, you’re already pushing it. So don’t you want to go out with gold this year and stick it to the nation?”

“Yeah of course I do,” You put your head in your hands in defeat.

“Well, no offense, you’re not really showing it.” Lance moved from his squat and sat next to you on the mat. “Listen, what’s going on? Seriously. I’ve been your coach for 2 campaigns now and you’ve never been this distracted.”

“It’s just family stuff. I don’t want to talk about it.” You stood up and ran your hand across your forehead, covering it in a light layer of chalk. “I’m gonna get some water and go again.” You went to walk away when Lance grabbed your wrist.

“Sit down, you’re done for today.”

“I can go again it’s fine.”

“Y/N. You’re going to injure yourself if you keep practicing distracted.”

“I’m fine.”

“Clearly you aren’t.” Lance stood up and stepped closer to you. You looked up at his tall frame, slightly scared at the sudden aggression. “You’re not the coach, and you’re not the expert. If you wanted to coach yourself, I’ll leave. No problem.”

“You’re such an asshole. You know that right?”

“Yet here you are, still standing here. Still paying me to coach you.”

You rolled your eyes and began walking way.

“Be here tomorrow. 8am.”

“Yeah I know.”

You went into the locker room and changed into jeans and a t shirt. You let your hair down and ran some water on your face. You put your back on your shoulder and walked out into the main gym area. Lance had retired into his office in the back corner of the room. You walked over and knocked on the open door. Lance was behind his desk on his phone. When your presence was known, Lance ushered you in.

“I just wanted to say sorry for today, and that I’ll see ya tomorrow.”

“Close the door Y/N.”

You walked completely in and closed the door before turning back to Lance’s desk. He signaled for you to sit in the chair in front of the desk and you did, crossing your legs underneath you. Lance walked out in front of the desk and sat on the top of it.

“Honestly, what the hell is going on.” He sat and crossed his arms, still chewing on his gum.

You took a deep breath and leaned on the arm of the chair with your arm. “You know my parents right? All of them, my mom and Mark and my dad and Dana?”

“Yeah. I met them last year.”

“Well my mother has become such an uptight bitch since my dad left her and she met Mark. So in recent years, she’s wanted me to quit gymnastics. She has been harassing me about getting a man and settling down and, to quote her, “Stop wasting my time with gymnastics.” To her, being an Olympic gold medalist, is nothing. My real father and Dana are great but, my mother is just so fucking spiteful.”

“But your piece of shit mother isn’t your fault, so why are you taking the blame?”

“I don’t know. My mom is having this uppity society event next week, which I’m supposed to attend, and I don’t even want to think about showing up alone to be ridiculed by my mother all fucking night.” You laughed at how pathetic you sounded explaining the situation. “Which now sounds really fucking pathetic when I’m saying it out loud. Like I live on my own I shouldn’t care what my mom thinks.”

“Well I’d hate it if my parents didn’t accept my passion, but unfortunately I was forced into it and grew to enjoy it. But having a need to impress your parents is something that everyone has, and if you don’t wanna impress your parents then you’re trying to impress someone else. It’s human nature.”

You were shocked Lance was being nice and sympathetic about everything, you didn’t think he was capable of experiencing those emotions.

“Fuck your mom and that fucking asshole Mark. Fuck them both. You’re a fucking Olympic gold medalist and if that isn’t fucking impressive, then nothing will impress them. I relish in the fact that I won gold and silver.” You rolled your eyes. He ALWAYS relished in that. “I worked fucking hard for it, and you have worked hard for it. So fuck them, I don’t know what else to tell you.”

“Thanks… Lance, you’re being oddly nice.”

“I can’t be an asshole all the time, sometimes I change it up.”

You laughed and covered your mouth. “That’s bullshit. You’re always an asshole, there is no ‘mixing it up’ with you. But hell, if this whole coaching thing ends up not working out, you’d be a great comedian. Or prostitute, I mean might as well get paid for everything you fuck.”

“Your real fucking funny aren’t you?”

“I’m just calling it how it is.” You and Lance always bickered back in forth. You guys got along for the most part. “Ok I’m going to leave, but honestly thanks for telling me how it is, I always count on that.”

You stood from your chair and headed towards the door.

“Oh and Y/N.” You turned and looked at Lance who still was half sitting on his desk, arms still crossed. “If you ever feel lonely, and need some comfort. You have my number.” Lance smirked and winked at you causing you to fake gag and turn out of the room.

“In your fucking dreams, Tucker.” You closed the door and headed out of the gym. You tossed your bag in the back seat and got in your car. Lance’s office faced the parking lot and he was standing in the window looking at you. He brought his hand up to be a phone and mouthed “Give me a call” and smirked again before walking away. You started your car and pulled out of the parking lot into the Los Angeles sunset. Your roommate was out of town for the week so you had the apartment to yourself. You decided since you had a dreadful day, you were going to treat yourself to some junk food since you had been eating only 600 calories for the last 3 weeks. You didn’t want to get sick by introducing a bunch of unhealthy foods back into your life, so you just stopped and got some Chinese before heading back to your house. You took a quick shower, and changed into comfortable clothing before heading to your couch and turning on Netflix. You have been binge watching Gossip Girl whenever you found the time, which was never. After 2 or 3 episodes, you had finished your Chinese and already passed out on the couch, ready for training tomorrow, hoping it’d be a better day.

—————————————————————————————————

You pulled your hair back away from your face as you walked into the gym, your bag over your shoulder again. You opened the doors and felt the cool air conditioning it your face. It was a muggy day today. There were a few others in the gym today already working since it was almost noon. You waved hello and headed towards the locker room. Walking past Lance’s office, you saw him standing looking out to everyone in the main area on the phone. You waved as you passed and he nodded his head deep in conversation. You changed into your leotard and shorts and wrapped your wrist. You made sure your hair was tight and walked into the open room and towards the white board in the corner. It had a list of everyone who was training today and what they were supposed to be working on specifically. You were the only veteran gymnast training now, everyone else was working on being new Olympians. There were 3 other girls working on bars and beams today, and 2 guys working with one of the other coaches. The space next to your name was blank, so you just figured you could do whatever. Seeing that you worked on your bars routine for 4 hours yesterday, you wanted to take a break and go to the side room to work on your floor routine. The 3 Olympic standard floor mats were empty, as there was only a hand full of people in the gym today.

You walked to the surround sound speaker and plugged in your phone, going to your Spotify and playing the playlist called, “The Most Beautiful Songs in The World”. This playlist always calmed you and seemed to play into your soul. A song called “What’s Good” by Fenne Lily started playing and you went to the middle of the mat to stretch. Starting with your arms, you swung them around and made sure each joint was ready to support your body weight. After you were comfortable with your arms, shoulders, and neck, you moved onto your legs. First stretch out your feet and calves, you knew your main focal point would be your hamstrings. You had pulled you hamstring your first campaign and it always got sore faster than your other muscles did, but you were cleared to perform after 6 months of physical therapy. You did your 3 splits and lung style stretches to warm up your thighs, hamstring, and your inner thigh. After finishing with a handstand, you were ready to practice. You walked to your phone and put on your routine instrumental.

You went to the corner and took a deep breath, closing your eyes before reopening them and looking at the other corner, imagining yourself sticking the landing and nailing your routine. You took a few steps back and began running. You let your body do what it already knew how to and trusted yourself as you jumped and let your feet leave the mat, only to be replaced by your hands as you propelled yourself off the ground and flipped.

You landed on your feet, for only a moment before pushing yourself up higher for another. You had reached the opposite corner of the mat once your feet hit the ground. You stuck the landing throwing your arms up in a pose, before taking a step back to complete your second run. You did your jump again and took off again, propelling yourself to do a pike.

Once you landed your hands shot back up in a pose, before doing your final run. You ran and did a flip before landing and doing a jumping split.

You did your final few poses and your routine was over. You put your arms down and began focusing on slowing your breathing a bit. You heard clapping from behind and you turned to the door to see Lance standing there smiling.

“That was really fucking good.” He walked towards the mat and you went to turn off your playlist, grabbing your bottle of water and meeting him on the side of the mat.

“Thanks, it’s a new routine so it needs a lot of work still.”

“No. It’s honestly pretty great. Congratulations, I think it’s worth a gold medal kid.”

You beamed at him and sat down, stretching your legs a bit more.

“Do you feel better than yesterday?”

“Yeah I slept pretty good. So, I think that helped.”

“Good. I’m happy, I can’t have my best gymnast injuring herself over her bs family.”

“Yeah, I agree.”

“It just let’s her win.” Lance sat down next to you. “If you wanna annoy her, don’t let what she says get to you. Make it so you could give less than 2 shits what she says. I also have another idea too.”

“And what is that Mister Helpful?”

“Well you said your mom has a charity thing next week right?”

“Yeah?”

“Well what if, I came with you, and pretended that I was your boyfriend so your mom won’t give you shit?”

You choked on the water that you had been drinking. “What?”

“It’ll solely be so you can stop worrying about your mother’s approval, and can focus on trials in 2 weeks.”

“You’re joking right?”

“No. What I’m not good enough to be your fake boyfriend?”

“No, I’d just never fucking date you.”

“You’re acting as if I’m gonna actually try to date you. I don’t do the dating thing.”

“I couldn’t tell.”

Lance stood up, getting annoyed now. “Ok fine, fuck you then. I don’t need to do this. I want you to stop acting like a little bitch, but whatever, be fucking miserable for all I care.” Lance pulled out his phone and started walking away.

“Lance, wait.”

He turned around and smirked. “Yeah?”

“Will you still do it?”

“Maybe, if you get on your knees,” He leaned his head down and looked at you through the tops of his eyes. “and beg.”

“You’re fucking disgusting.”

“Hey, I’m fucking with you. Yes, I’ll still do it, if you’ll cut the shit.”

You smiled and jumped up, hugging him. He was so tall your feet came off the ground. He wrapped his arms around your waist and hugged back. Once you were back on the ground, you looked up at him.

“I’m going to call her and let her know I’ll be bringing my “boyfriend” with to the party.”

“Alright, I’m sure this is going to be,” Lance took a second and rolled his eyes with his hands on his hips. “fun?” His toned laced with sarcasm. You responded with an eye roll as well.

“It was your idea.”

“Don’t remind me. When you’re done run the routine again. I’m going to check on the others.” Lance turned around, popping his gum and walking back into the main room.

The training room was plunged into a bright dark. The various colours of the glowing neon lights cast a psychedelic atmosphere in the large room. Laughs and music could be heard all over the room, but the loudest noise was the one of the toy gun. It made a high pitched sound everytime someone pulled the trigger.

“Who thought it was a good idea to let Tony watch ‘How I met you mother’?” You screamed, running with Natasha towards the closest wall and hid behind it. Clint was perched on top of a block, shooting at the both of you.

Tony found sudden interest in Barney Stinson, a thirty-something playboy living in New York whose hobbies involved sex, catchphrases, drinking and laser tag. A striking resemblance.

“Same person who’s shooting at us.” She panted, hugging the plastic gun to her chest. She took a deep breath. “Cover me!”

Legend has it that there were six original families of vampires, whom all now living vampires originate from; the family of Kim is the most common kind with a normal thirst for blood. The family of Byun who exclusively drinks animal blood. The family of Zhang, who’s thirst for blood is humongous and almost unquenchable. The family of Do, a family who very rarely needs to feed. The family of Park is a kind that doesn’t limit their diet to only blood, but very often eats the organs and skin of the human they’re draining as well.

And so far, the mentioned families only have one difference: the diet. But the last family, the small family of Hūn Náo, is described as passionate, turbulent, restless and violent when their thirst is awakened. Hūn Náos have stronger senses and reflexes than the other kinds and their diet is limited to “bad blood”: the blood of extreme sinners. Because of their nature when exposed to the scent of the rare bad blood, the Hūn Náos became a feared kind, and further on, the kind turned shy and held back to avoid keeping the negative label.

As a Hūn Náo, you always used to turn heads with your strong and sassy personality, and maybe it was exactly that which attracted Byun Baekhyun to you?

It was odd, you and everyone knew it - no, forget that; everyone would have thought so if they knew.

Yet, somehow it had come to be. Your relationship with Baekhyun, that is.

One day, as you were walking down the hallway of the school building, your whole body itching to return to your dorm, rip off your bra and exchange the short checkered skirt for a pair of nice, comfortable sweats pants, when a shoulder lightly bumped into yours. The owner of the shoulder was no passerby, rather, he was walking right beside you. Your schedule let you leave school earlier every Wednesday when most of the other student still had one class left, and because of that the hallway was not crowded at all, but somehow this boy still chose to walk so closely with you.

So, you had looked over at him and scoffed. “Come closer.” Earning a surprised laugh from the boy, which at a closer, a more focused look was beautiful. He had dark, hooded eyes, a small pout and light brunette, tussled locks that gracefully fell over his cold forehead in a way you couldn’t quite describe. And then, he had had this rectangular grin to add onto his dazzling features.

A sniff of the air had surprised you, your stronger senses revealing the identity of his wonderful boy who found your sarcastic tone funny - a Byun. Along with the discovery came a clump in your stomach, and you swallowed, preparing to tell this Byun that you were a Hūn Náo and therefore probably not the best vampire to associate with. But just as you opened your mouth to tell him, your body tensing at the disgusted look you were sure you’d receive, the Byun had stuck his hand out into the air in front of you.

“I’m Byun Baekhyun, and you?”

You had reluctantly taken his hand, your mouth open wide as you told him your name, quickly and awkwardly followed by;

“I’m a Hūn Náo, Baekhyun, you may not want to speak to me.”

Urk = Fictional country ^_^

You sat at your computer, fingers breezing over the keys as you typed up some patient reports, when Seokjin poked his head through your doorway, followed by his girlfriend, a questioning look apparent on his face. Spinning around in your chair, you looked at him expectantly, a small smile on your face.

“Can I help you, Jin?” You asked, raising one eyebrow in a perfect arch, professional smile still etched onto your lips as you observed his expression.

“A man is asking if a teenage boy was admitted to the hospital today?” Jin finally spoke up, his broad shoulder leaned against the doorway, and you sighed, setting down your work, pushing a few strands of your hair out of your face.

“You might need to be more specific, Jin, do you know how many patients we get a day?” You tutted at him, rolling your eyes, and yet attempting to suppress a laugh at his dumbfounded expression, his girlfriend muffling her laughter, winking as she made eye contact with you.

Clearing your throat, still attempting to suppress the laughter bubbling up through your chest, you glared at Seokjin expectantly, and he threw his arms up in slight annoyance, only causing his girlfriend to giggle even more.

“All he said was, ‘Has a teenage boy, about this tall, injured, been admitted to this hospital today?’” Seokjin shrugged, unsure what to do about the situation.

“Jin,” you sighed, massaging your forehead in frustration. “I mean, I can try my best with the limited information you’ve given me, but there’s no promises.” You were about to turn back to your work, and yet realisation hit you, and you remained fixated in position, staring at Jin once again. “Who’s asking anyways?”

Seokjin simply shrugged once again, exchanging glances with his girlfriend, before the two of them stared at you expectantly, their eyebrows raised.

“Okay, okay, I’m on it, geez,” you muttered, pushing your paperwork aside and striding towards the door, snaking past Jin, but not before mumbling, “It’s scary how in sync the two of you are,” only causing them to shake their heads with a smile before following close behind you into the hospital reception. You nodded at the bustling receptionists answering calls as they gave you a small smile and wave, and you stopped in the centre. Your arms were crossed, your foot tapping expectantly as you glanced around, only to notice a blonde-haired man scrolling on his phone nonchalantly, his frame leaned against the wall, hood up over his head.

“That’s the guy,” Jin said from beside you, pointing at the very man you had been glancing at. You narrowed your eyes, your suspicions immediately rising, and your mind began racing, assuming all sorts of worst case scenarios. You mentally berated yourself, resuming your professional attitude and walking towards the man, who looked up from his phone, a lazy smile settling on his face.

“Hello, I heard you were looking for… a teenage boy who was admitted to the hospital today? As my co-worker told me,” you inquired, glancing over at Seokjin once again. “Who are you looking for specifically?” You crossed your arms, tilting your head to the side in a curious expression, and the man straightened up, pulling down his hood and running his hair through his blonde locks, a lazy smile settling on his face.

“Yeah,” the man finally spoke, his eyes gazing back at yours with a strangely curious expression, and you found yourself wondering just who this man was. He pushed himself up off the wall, self-consciously straightening up his hooded jumper under your watchful gaze, before saying, “As strange as this is going to sound, that kid stole my phone, and I’m going to need it back. Like now.”

Your eyebrows shot up in immediate suspicion, and you narrowed your eyes at the man, your senses once again on high alert. “I could’ve sworn I saw you on your phone just earlier, Mr…?” You asked, exhaling in frustration as you realised you still had patients to tend to, paperwork to sign, and an endless list of tasks you had yet to complete.

“Yoongi, call me Yoongi, and this is my work phone, he stole my personal one,” the blonde head responded, and as he looked down at his watch - Rolex, you noted - he seemed to grow more impatient by the minute.

You stared at Yoongi  in disbelief, throwing your hands in defeat, and beckoning to him to follow you. You strutted off quickly, the sound of your heels resonating through the room, and Yoongi followed behind in slight amusement, his head tilting to the side as he admired how your hair bounced on your shoulders, your head held high in a professional manner, your white coat swaying as you walked.

Pushing through a set of doors, you led Yoongi through a number of patient rooms, your pace quick, but his nonchalant and more of a leisurely stroll, causing you to grow more frustrated by how he peered into different rooms at his own pace. You didn’t have time for this. You had work to get to. And yet this strange man was strolling through, shooting you curious glances every now and then.

You spun around suddenly, expecting to take him by surprise, but he stood his ground, his expression simply amused more than anything.

“Were you trying to seem intimidating, Miss… (Y/N)?” He read off your name badge, a small smirk gracing his lips. “That won’t work on me, I’m used to… surprise attacks you could say.” He chuckled as you huffed, clearing your throat, and yet his words hung in the back of your head. Surprise attacks? Who was this man? Your suspicions from earlier began to rise again, and you glared at him, asking, “Would you be able to identify the boy? Seeing as you provided me with such limited information…”

“If I saw him, yeah,” he responded, still glancing around the building, and you massaged your forehead in frustration once again, willing yourself to stay patient. You beckoned to him once again, and pushed open yet another set of doors, leading him into a room with various young patients lying in bed, some conversing across curtains, others scrolling on their phones. Yoongi’s curiosity piqued as some of the teenagers waved at you, and you responded with a warm smile and a small wave.

“You’re supposed to be identifying the boy for me?” You reminded him, and he snapped out of his trance, peering down the room, before recognising one of the teenagers lying in bed.

“That one,” he pointed, and you sighed in relief, hoping to finally finish up with the matter, the two of you walking over to the bed the boy was currently lying in.

“Hello,” you stopped by the bed, addressing the boy who saw Yoongi standing just behind you, his gaze suddenly becoming ashamed as his eyes darted around. “This man tells me you have something of his?” You slowly turned back to glance at Yoongi, your own curiosity and suspicions rising as you noticed the boy’s ashamed gaze.

“I mean…” the boy mumbled, clutching the sheets in his fists as he looked down. “I might’ve…”

Yoongi scoffed, clearly annoyed by his attitude. “He didn’t seem shy when he stole my phone, hm?”

“Okay, okay!” The teenager finally blurted out, after something started ringing and vibrating vigorously in his pocket, Yoongi nodding at you in triumph as he held his other phone in his hand. The kid fished the phone out of his pocket, and the screen flashed with a caller ID, “Min Genius”. You noticed, and you slowly turned around to completely face Yoongi, your arms crossing over your chest.

“Yoongi, step outside for a minute with me please,” you commanded, and the man threw his hands up in surrender, amused smile still etched onto his lips.

The two of you walked outside into the empty hallway, and you glared him down, Yoongi watching your expression curiously.

“Still trying to act intimidatin-” He started, but you cut him off.

“Who are you exactly? Things aren’t adding up here, that boy came in awfully bruised and injured… did you hurt this boy? Are you part of a gang or something? Is that why you have such a ridiculous caller ID, as a code name of some sort? Answer me!” You fired questions at him, and Yoongi held his fist to his mouth, trying to suppress his laughter at the accusations.

“You, you think I’m a gang member? You are so far off right now, you don’t even know,” he finally burst out laughing, and you simply glared him down furiously, your cheeks dusted a deep pink colour at his laughter.

“Tell me, what it is you do then?” You huffed, attempting to regain some of your dignity.

“I’m an army general,” he responded, amused expression never leaving his face, and you stared at his in disbelief, not believing a single word that came out of his mouth. You looked him up and down, from his ripped jeans to his ruffled hoodie, and you shook your head in disbelief.

“Yeah, right, you’re funny,” you laughed sarcastically, and the man simply shook his head at you, brushing his fringe out of his eyes.

“I wasn’t kidding you know,” he finally retaliated, and you stopped, your eyes still wide with disbelief.

“WelI, I…” you stuttered. “You know what, we actually have an army doctor who works at this hospital sometimes, she’ll tell me if you’re telling the truth.” You huffed, storming off to your office, where you knew you’d find Jungyeon, likely looking over her tasks for the day.

Pushing the door open, Yoongi standing behind you with a smug expression, you called out, “Hey, Jungyeon? This man claims he’s an army general, you would know right? Is he part of your… unit, or anything?”

Jungyeon peered up from her work, a flash of recognition darting across her face before her lips curled up into a wry smile, a mischievous glint apparent in her eyes. She adjusted her cap, smoothing down her uniform, before lying, “No, I’ve never seen him before in my life, I think he’s lying to you.” She tutted at you, trying to keep herself composed at Yoongi’s slackened jaw, a slightly angry glint in his eyes, and you spun on your heel, staring at Yoongi triumphantly.

“You see, I knew it,” You held your head up high, proud of yourself, and yet you had no idea how wrong you were. Yoongi could only stare at you, his eyes darting from Jungyeon to you, and back again, grumbling under his breath as you ordered him out, mentally swearing an oath to himself that he’d prove it to you, next time he visited the hospital.

“Remember that I’m your superior, Jungyeon,” he called out before he left, and Jungyeon straightened up, tittering nervously in realisation.

“Sorry,” she mouthed back, and yet her lips curled up into a smug smirk once again, Yoongi frowning as you escorted him out of the building, the triumphant expression never leaving your face and you strided along confidently.

“Bye,” you called out in a slightly proud tone, pushing your hair behind your shoulder as you watched him walk off.

“Shame”, you thought. “He was handsome”, you chuckled under your breath, walking back into the hospital building to resume your work.

**

Days passed, and you found your mind often drifting off to the strange man you had met, recalling the way his lips curled up when he was amused at your frustration, the way his gums were exposed when he smiled - rather cutely, you found yourself noting - and you sighed, mentally berating yourself for being so easily distracted. You went about your day as normal, tending to patients in the recovery rooms, assisting in surgeries, completing the piles of paperwork that never seemed to end. You watched as Seokjin came back and forth with his girlfriend, as she leaned into his side, Jin looking down at her with the most loving expression. You felt a small pang of jealousy, but you shook it off, trying to focus your attention back on your work.

You were conversing with Seokjin and Jungyeon - dressed in her solider uniform as always - in the reception one day, leaning your elbows on the desk as you smiled at your co-workers as they walked by, when he walked in.

Yoongi strode into the reception of the hospital, a new air of confidence surrounding him, and this time he wasn’t dressed in a simple hoodie and jeans. Your eyes trailed up and down his figure, unable to help but admire how his uniform fit on his body, his badge dotted with three distinct stars, glistening under the artificial light of the room. His cap sat neatly on his head, his fringe visible beneath, and the smug smile on his lips ever present. You couldn’t help but stare, Jungyeon physically straightening up beside you, her once playful expression quickly straightening up as she saluted to him.

“What is going on?” You mumbled in awe, your mouth ever so slightly open as he approached you, a look in his eyes saying I told you so.

“Jungyeon,” he nodded, allowing her to finally drop her salute, and she looked away slightly ashamed. You noticed how her demeanor had suddenly changed in his presence and your eyes darted from her to him in a mixture of confusion, shock and awe.

“So, so, you’re telling me that you’re actually an army general? In the actual army? Like you lead a unit?” You stuttered, professional attitude long gone as you could only gape at him. You suddenly felt ashamed for judging him so harshly, even though it was out of concern for your patients. You took pride in your job, and you did care about your patients, no matter how stern you came off to outsiders. And yet this man was the first to make you feel shameful for acting in such a way, although you were yet to understand why.

“I’m sorry,” you sighed, your attention now fully focused on him. “I’m not the type who’s afraid to admit when she’s wrong, so I’m sorry.”

Yoongi nodded at you triumphantly, his once smug smirk curling into a warm smile, and he chuckled, a strangely nice sound when it wasn’t mocking.

“Now we’ve gotten that out of the way, maybe we should actually introduce ourselves properly.” He grinned, that gummy smile that was so strangely charming, and continued, “I’m General Min Yoongi, but you can call me Yoongi, I hate formalities where it’s not needed.”

“I… well, I’m (Y/N) (Y/L/N), as you probably noticed from my name badge… I work at this hospital as a doctor… damn it, you knew that…” You stuttered again, suddenly forgetting how to compose yourself in the presence of Yoongi. He could only smile, finding the sight incredibly endearing, a warm feeling spreading through his chest.

Your co-workers, bustling by, pretended to be focused on their work, and yet they muffled their laughs, gossiping amongst themselves, amused by the fact that the ever professional (Y/N) had forgotten how to even articulate her words coherently. Seokjin didn’t bother to hide his laughter though, shooting the two of you a dramatic air kiss, and you mentally noted to tell him off later.

Oh my, she’s adorable, was the only thought on Yoongi’s mind  in that moment, unable to help the warm smile that rested on his face, and he knew that this building was going to quickly become familiar to him.

**

From that day, he made sure to come visit - or bother you as you tried to call it, despite secretly enjoying his presence - whenever he had the time, the two of you slowly becoming close over time, often sitting up on the rooftop together during your lunch break.

Everything was going perfectly, until he began having to leave halfway through your dates without a viable explanation, and you had began to grow fed up with it. He would get a phone call, grave tone in his voice, and that was it. Your views began to conflict; as a doctor, your job was to save lives, and yet Yoongi was a general, a soldier, the front line of war and conflict. He did it to protect your country, but you couldn’t help but question the relationship the two of you had. You still knew so little about this man, he was so secretive at times, never fully communicating his emotions or his thoughts to you.

Eventually, the two of you began to fizzle apart, and you went a large period of time without seeing him, without his random visits to the hospital.

You couldn’t lie and say it didn’t hurt, that you didn’t miss him, that there wasn’t an aching gap in your heart.

He couldn’t lie and say he didn’t think of you during missions, sitting by his men as they flew over the expanse of the city in a helicopter, that there wasn’t an aching gap in his heart.

One day, he received an especially important mission; his unit along with two others were to be dispatched on a peacekeeping mission to the country of Urk, far away from his home country, his friends, from you. This is your job, he reminded himself.

Yoongi strode into the room, his arms folded behind his back as he set out the mission for his unit, the soldiers all attentive, nodding at his every word.

“This is a potentially dangerous mission, men. Keep your wits about you, always be aware of your surroundings, never let your guard down. Understood?” He warned, his men all replying with a systematic “Yes, sir!”

Yoongi simply nodded, sighing as he contemplated the looming task ahead of him mentally preparing himself for the mission ahead.

Meanwhile, back at the hospital, you were staring down the hospital director, your eyes about to pop out of your skull, the director simply returning the gaze with a smug expression.

“You heard me correctly, (Y/N), the army has asked for a medical team to be dispatched to the city of Urk, to assist the soldiers there. I decided you’d be perfect to lead, don’t you think? Collect your team and inform them, you’ll be leaving tomorrow.” And with that, he walked off, whistling to himself and leaving you indefinitely annoyed. There was nothing you could do about the matter, and you threw your arms up in frustration, wandering off to go inform your department.

Next thing you knew, you found yourself sitting in a helicopter with your team of doctors, everyone exchanging nervous glances, your body rocking slightly from the force of the helicopter whirring over the expanse of land. Your thoughts once again wandered off to Yoongi, and you contemplated. Would he be there? Your heart leaping at the thought of it, before sinking again. The two of you had parted ways, and this was a professional environment once again.

Likewise, Yoongi wandered around base, having arrived in Urk just a few days before, and his thoughts were - as always - drifting off to you again. He had been informed that the hospital, your hospital, was sending a medical team over to assist. Would you be there? Would you be leading? He had always thought you as a natural leader, smiling as he recalled your confident assertiveness that had completely disappeared the first time he walked in as General Min. He sighed, walking off to wherever he was supposed to be.

The helicopter finally landed in an open runway, the constant whirring coming to a halt, and the doors automatically opening. Your hand flew up to block the sudden sunlight that shone through, your legs cramped as you stood up, stumbling out of the helicopter. Your team followed close behind, and as you exited, you saw the line of soldiers ready to greet you, lead by him. General Min. Min Yoongi. He stood in front of his men, his posture straight and professional, and yet at the sight of you, his expression faltered, a sense of hope flashing across his eyes.

“Yoongi?”
