Season 7.

The scene opens on the Swan-Jones house. We go into the house. It looks different than before – actually well-lived in now. Books and toys are scattered about and pictures hang on the walls. The camera pans past some of these pictures. There are obvious ones hanging like Emma and Killian’s wedding photos, Emma and David by the Sheriff’s car, but there are new ones, as well. Emma and Hook in the hospital room cradling a small bundle, happy and exhausted grins on their faces. There’s Henry in a graduation robe, flanked by both Emma and Regina. There’s a shot of Regina with a mystery character we haven’t seen together, clearly at their own wedding. There’s even Belle with Gideon, smiling happily. Basically, a few years have passed, and it’s been a good few years.

We hear a squeal, and the scene turns to Emma and Hook preparing a child for bed. Emma’s phone rings, and she learns that there’s a crisis on the docks. Looks like it’s a job for the Sheriff.

“Sure you don’t need backup, love?”

“Please, after the demagorgon last month, this is gonna be a cakewalk. Sure you can handle bedtime?”

“It’ll be a cake walk.”

They kiss, and Emma goes off to save the day. Because she’s Emma Swan, ass-kicker extraordinaire.

We stick with Killian and little Swan-Jones. It’s story time, and the kid holds up a “Once Upon a Time” book. They begin to flip through it, and we realize that this book is different. There are new stories than what we’ve seen.

“Your brother’s been busy, but how about I tell you about a story that isn’t in your brother’s book.”

The kid’s eyes go wide. It’s interested.

“You see, Once Upon a Time, your Aunt Regina…”

And there we go. It’s a new season. The season is literally this story featuring everyone who is coming back. There can be flashbacks within flashbacks. Emma doesn’t die. She’s off kicking ass. We learn that most everyone gets their HEA/HB. If there’s a season after that, it’s another story. The series ends with Hook telling the kid to go to sleep, tomorrow is a big day, after all.

“It’s your Mum’s birthday.”

If we get JMo to come back, the scene cuts to her party at Granny’s. Everyone is there. Henry is wearing a college sweatshirt. Snow and Charming are there. Regina is being her fabulous self with her love interest, who we meet in the story, by her side. Emma, surrounded by her family and friends, blows out the candle. We go full circle.

I’m team I don’t care about anything aside from the fact that the character I’ve loved for 6 years and the couple I’ve been invested in for 5 years when I was told it was never going to happen. That it was a crackship and that her and Bagel were endgame, is now getting married.

I literally could care less how Emma looks(she looks beautiful in a princess dress), what the location is( I love the location, now I wonder what rooftop?), that it’s the musical episode(excellent, getting to here JMO and Colin hopefully sing together is everything), nothing at all.

All I care about is that their getting married after 5 years of waiting, this is all worth it.

One thing I noticed was Henry with the book. As we all know Killian and Emma are in the SB, so…if Henry reads off a bit of the CS movie I will be a wreck.

This is going to be an amazing, beautiful episode and to many that have been here since even before Hook was even introduced and we fell in love with Emma Swan. Well this is the victory.

Who would have thought the lost girl Emma Swan in 6 years when she was wishing herself a happy birthday alone would now be getting married to her true love, being escorted down the aisle by her parents, and have her loving son watching on(hopefully he’s the best man).

THEY’RE GETTING MARRIED! I’M FOCUSING ALL ON THAT AND NOTHING ELSE!

Cielizzy headcanons

1) Ciel has a tendency to spoil Lizzy with lavish gifts, such as exquisite jewelry, the latest Parisian fashions, and sweets from Belgium and Switzerland. He does this out of guilt since he and Lizzy rarely spend any time together. As a result, Sebastian now has a secondary job as a purveyor of women’s fashion. Packages show up at the Midford estate so often that half of them are still unopened.

2) Lizzy and Ciel sometimes spend their afternoons reading together. In the beginning, they sat next to each other on the library sofa until one day Lizzy decided to read The Flowers of Evil by Charles Baudelaire. This sparked a spirited debate between them on the abstract concepts of excess, decadence, and lust that eventually resulted in their first kiss—one that left Ciel stunned and Lizzy very, very embarrassed.

3) Once, after returning from a mission for the queen, Ciel fell ill with pneumonia. Lizzy declared herself immune and sat by his bedside, putting cool washcloths on his forehead, making sure he drank enough water, and reading Henry Wadsworth Longfellow’s epic poem Evangeline, A Tale of Acadie out loud to him. One of Ciel’s favorite lines from the poem is this: “Silently, one by one, in the infinite meadows of heaven,/ Blossomed the lovely stars, the forget-me-nots of the angels.” To him, it represents a fleeting moment of tranquility, hope, and possibility.

4) Ciel tolerates Lizzy’s hugs because he likes her strawberry-daisy fragrance.

5) Lizzy remembers the birthdays of all the Phantomhive servants and always gives them a little present to commemorate the day. If she can’t stop by the manor, she sends them a postcard wishing them the very best followed by a cute little gift she hand wrapped herself. —> Since Sebastian doesn’t have a birthday, Lizzy celebrates his “birthday” on January 20th—the feast of Saint Sebastian, a martyr who was killed for his Christian beliefs by the emperor Diocletian.

6) Ciel and Lizzy like to play croquet together during the summer months. It’s one of the few physical activities that Ciel can play (and win) without Sebastian’s help.

7) While playing cards, Ciel’s respect for Lizzy increased exponentially after her slight of hand beat him in Schnapsen (a German point-trick game more commonly known as 66). Now, every Tuesday night, Lizzy comes over to Phantomhive Manor and they play cards until 11 (an indecently late hour, my goodness! So Ciel makes sure Sebastian escorts her back home safely). Sometimes they’ll invite Soma, Sieglinde, Joanne, and Cheslock but mainly, it’s just the two of them.

8) Lizzy and Ciel chose to learn Russian together because it’s a language neither of them knew; it was also an opportunity for the two of them to spend more time with each other. Ciel corrects Lizzy’s grammar and phrasing while Lizzy helps Ciel with his pronunciation. Both of them read books to help practice their Russian—Ciel began by reading Fyodor Dostoyevsky (he took a particularly liking to Crime and Punishment) while Lizzy indulged in Leo Tolstoy’s War and Peace. —> After they got married, Lizzy and Ciel frequently spoke to each other in Russian, sometimes adding in a dash of French or Latin. As a result, Phantomhive Manor became quite the multicultural arena (and a place of great confusion for all the servants—except Sebastian).

9) Even though Ciel never became fond of dancing, he made an effort to escort Lizzy to more balls and parties after he learned that other noblemen had been flirting with her. Several of those hapless gentleman would wind up with serious injuries when leaving said party—such as one of them tripping over a misplaced bullet and tumbling down the stairs, breaking his arm, bruising his ribs, and suffering a concussion. Odd.

10) Sebastian wound up coordinating their wedding and was nicknamed “bridezilla” by everyone involved. Exhibit A:

“You call this Chantilly lace? This looks like a scrap of fabric with holes in it!”

“I knew humans were incapable of a great deal but never once have I ever encountered someone so constantly inept. I wanted gardenias with a hint of pink. A hint. Something that conjures up the image of a lady’s first blush. But this, this bouquet would be a disgrace even in hell!”

*Looks at violinists* “I’ve never been faced with a dilemma so difficult. You have all been hailed as the best violinists in Western Europe and yet here I stand, being forced to choose the least terrible amongst you inadequate, tone-deaf monarchs of the mediocre. In fact, leave. Just leave. I’ll play the bridal march myself.”

“Where is the wedding cake? Where is the—of all damnation, THAT’S the wedding cake? It looks like a sofa Baldroy set on fire.”

*Inspecting the flower girl* “No, no—her walk is pitiful and her gap-toothed smile ruins the atmosphere.”

“A church? You expect my young master to get married in a church? Well this is just preposterous—how am I, the wedding coordinator, supposed to supervise the event if he’s getting married in a church? Why wasn’t I informed of his radical venue choice? Was it my intern? Did my intern forget to inform me? A church?

My dudes, instead of making s7 a reboot filled with characters no one will ever care about, make a two hour special: Happy Beginnings - After the Final Battle (or some other tacky name like it).

David arresting Leroy for leroy-ing, Snow teaching about birds, Regina opening an apple stand, Henry shopping for a new scarf, Killian Jones buying a boat and naming it Jolly Roger Junior, Emma Swan celebrating her birthday with her family for the first time… Make it a christmas special, I don’t care. Just give these characters time to enjoy themselves and BREATHE. The entire freaking fandom want to watch this sort of thing and yet, here we are…

Mother’s Day

Mother’s Day was a bitch. At least it was for the Lynch Brothers and, by extension, Adam Parrish. Crammed into their usual pew, Declan, Matthew, and Ronan sat with bent heads as the priest delivered the special homily recognizing and honoring all the mothers, and especially the Holy Virgin Mary for bringing our Lord and Savior into the world to save us all. Ronan dug his fingernails into his wrist and focused on that instead of crying. Matthew was sniffling. Declan had a hard, removed look in his eyes. Aurora Lynch had passed less than a month ago.

Adam sat on the steps outside of the St. Agnes apartment, listening to the drone of the pipe organ and waiting for Ronan to emerge. He had not seen or spoken with his mother in months.

Blue Sargent was currently deep into the 300 Fox Way Mother’s Day Madness. It was a day when all the childbearing women of the household were given free reign to order about their offspring. Typically this meant asking for extravagant breakfasts, massages, and calling out a never-ending chorus of “fix me another drink, will you?” Blue and Orla were grimly making mojitos in the kitchen, the fresh mint giving Blue all sorts of flashbacks to time spent with Gansey. Orla was quickly getting frustrated with her lack of attention.

Gansey had declined to visit DC for the usual champagne brunch at his family’s home. His mother was, of course, deep into her political campaign and she had been most disappointed when Gansey couldn’t come, especially because it would mean he that was missing her fundraising gala. Helen had called numerous times to berate him but Gansey had only replied that he could not leave Ronan alone.

Ronan was not alone, even if Gansey had left, he wouldn’t have been alone. He had Adam now, as well as Declan and Matthew. It was shocking and wonderful to spend time with Declan and enjoy it. But the reunion with Declan reminded Ronan of one awful truth: Declan had never been reunited with their mother. All those trips to Cabeswater—bringing Matthew along but excluding Declan—Ronan didn’t think he would ever forgive himself.

Henry Cheng was spending the day with his mother and he rather wished that he was not. His mother was…complicated. What did one do when the person who birthed them and raised them went through a radical transformation and became a Power? Henry spent the morning at his mother’s side, entertaining himself with RoboBee while she did the things that she did. Lots of phone calls were involved and meeting with intense looking men in suits, including former hitman, Mr. Gray.

After the morning service at St. Agnes was over Ronan fetched Adam and the two of them went back to the Barns. Matthew and Declan joined them. Later, Gansey arrived with Blue and Henry. Ronan had stripped out of his Sunday suit and was sprawled on the lawn in his usual attire of shredded jeans and black muscle tee. Adam was lying on the grass next to him and he was helping Opal make crowns out of daisies and clover and Queen Anne’s lace. Chainsaw stalked around the trio, making her usual raven commentary that only Opal and Ronan could decipher. Declan was grilling and Matthew stood at his elbow, chattering away and holding whatever Declan told him to. The scene was remarkably similar to Ronan’s eighteenth birthday party except that they all looked tired and sad.

Blue settled down next to Ronan and showed him how to blow on a blade of grass to make it whistle. Ronan, being the musician of the bunch, mastered the skill and before long he and Blue and Opal were composing grass symphonies. Adam contented himself with chewing on a long stem of grass and applauding. Henry and Gansey gravitated to the grill. Gansey quizzed Declan about his apartment and the dream business. Henry, whose mother was tied to the trade of dream objects, supplied his insights. Matthew got bored and ran over to play with Opal; they had ganged up on Ronan and before long the three of them descended into a loud, tangled mess of limbs.

Adam watched with a fond smile, silently wondering at these strange dream creatures. He wondered most of all about Ronan, who had given life to both Opal and Matthew, becoming, in a sense, mother and father and brother to them. He had also given life to a host of dream animals and the recently departed Cabeswater (Adam felt a pang remembering the spectacular forest). With a deep, heartfelt sigh Adam decided that Ronan was probably one of the few people alive to know, on some level, what it was like to be a god. Gods made something from nothing, populating the world with their creations. With all of his imagination and power and his ability bring forth the perfect partner (rather like Niall had done with Aurora), Adam was again overcome with the knowledge that Ronan had chosen him. He was dating a god…

Declan interrupted the wrestling match to announce that lunch was ready. Everyone gathered around the picnic blankets. There were hotdogs and hamburgers with the fixings, potato salad, chips, slaw, baked beans, deviled eggs, fruit, cupcakes, tea, and a pitcher of mint mojitos that Blue had smuggled out of the house. The food came from the grocery store deli but the cooks there were good, getting the down home food just right. Everyone loaded up their plates and dug in. Opal was soon a mess and Ronan fussed at her and tried to clean her face off but she kept batting his hands away. Ronan gave up with a frustrated huff and Blue laughed, asking if he was finding child rearing to be difficult. Ronan smirked and tousled Opal’s hair, “You have no idea.”

After their bellies were full it was time for remembrances. Declan started. He talked about Aurora, getting choked up as he told about how she always knew when he was having a bad day, how she would find a way to make him smile. Ronan did not talk and Matthew cried. Adam said that Aurora had shown him what a mother should be and that he had loved every moment he had spent with her. Blue and Gansey chimed in with their memories of golden Aurora visiting with them beneath the boughs of Cabeswater.

They did not speak of the mothers who were still living, though they did raise a glass in honor of mothers in general. At some point Henry made the comment about Gansey deserving recognition for mothering them all through their years at Aglionby. Adam asked if Gansey wasn’t more of a father figure and Ronan answered, gruffly, that he was both. “He nags like a mother but then he gets all authoritarian like a father.” Gansey looked affronted but Blue agreed, teasing him for his dad jokes and dad fashion choices. It was decided that Gansey could be an honorary mother and Opal solemnly placed the flower crown she made on his head.

The day drew to a close and they went their separate ways: Blue returned to 300 Fox Way, Adam to St. Agnes, Henry to Aglionby, and Gansey to Monmouth. Declan and Matthew stayed with Ronan at the Barns. The brothers sat on the front porch and watched the sun set behind the trees. Opal raced around the lawn, chasing fireflies and shrieking in the language of the trees. Ronan found it ironic that Opal, originally named Orphan Girl, had since gained an unlikely family while he and his brothers had become the true orphans. They were all the family they had in this world.

Matthew nodded off and Declan woke him and sent him inside to sleep. Before Declan retired for the night he placed his hand on Ronan’s shoulder and squeezed. “Mom would be proud of you,” he murmured. “Dad, too. You’re a hell of a guy, Ronan, and I’m so damn lucky that you’re my brother.”

Ronan sat on the steps until it grew uncomfortably cool. Opal was curled up next to him, her head in his lap. He watched as the lightning bugs settled down and the deer crept out of the woods. It seemed impossible that the world kept going now that Niall and Aurora were gone. He felt a twinge in his heart and recalled the ghost of a boy who had been his friend. Gone but not forgotten. Ronan sighed deeply and picked up Opal, cradling her to his chest as he went into the house. Ronan put Opal to bed, brushing the hair out of her eyes, and watched the dream girl sleep. So many things had changed, were still changing, but Ronan would not forget the loved ones who had passed on. He scratched at the still itchy skin over his hipbone where the tattoo text spelled out remembered. As long as he and his brothers lived Aurora would not be forgotten.

Mother’s Day was a bitch.

A Pirate’s Perfect Birthday

Short Post 6-B fic where Emma throws a party for Killian (and gives him the best possible gift). Also available on FF here.

A/N: Hello everyone! Surprise! I know I am on vacation AND to top it all off my laptop died earlier this week (so I am dealing with a whole lot of denial about the work I lost) BUT I could not let today come and go without some CS fluff. Because I have a number of readers with birthdays today (hi Jenn!) and coming up, it seemed fitting to write something new, and since last year I did a birthday for Emma, this year I’m making one for Killian. . Anyway hope you guys enjoy and thanks for reading!

Staring at the fully decorated and brightly lit living room within her and Killian’s home, Emma had to admit that things were going better than she’d at first anticipated.

When she originally came up with the idea of a celebration in Killian’s honor done in the style and with the purpose of a birthday, she’d had understandable concerns. After all her husband, fond as he was of celebrating her and the other members of their family and friends in town, wasn’t usually predisposed to moments celebrating him or providing him with what he felt for were undue accolades. For a man who was so charming and who often played at roguish swagger Killian would rather not be the center of attention at the end of the day. But Emma knew in her heart that Killian more than deserved to be celebrated and that even if he resisted today’s activities, she would be sharing a gift with him that would make it all worth it.

“Are you sure you don’t want to go a little bigger with the decorations?” Her mother asked in a genuine tone, pulling Emma from her quiet musings as she did. “You know it’s not too late for us to embellish the theme a little bit. We could do something with sailing or the ocean or anything really… Oh I know! Pirates of the Caribbean! Killian’s seen those movies, right?”

Henry sneaks a glance around as he hurries up the stairs desperate for a moment alone. It’s Father’s Day and they’re having a big family barbecue. It’s fun and it’s amazing to have a family day without curses or bickering…but he can’t help but feel the weight of loss.

So he slips away just so he can have a moment to remember.

He’s halfway up the stairs when he hears it, a sniff followed by a muffled whimper. he frowns following the sound to his mom’s room. Henry pushes the door open cautiously and notices her sitting on her bed, crying as quietly as she can. When he enters her head snaps up and she hurriedly wipes away the tears.

“Henry,” she says, her voice hoarse, “I thought you were downstairs.”

“I was,” he replies moving to sit beside her, “But I…” he sighs, “I miss my Dad…is that why you’re up here?”

Regina nods as she wraps an arm around his shoulders, “Yes…it was my own fault…but…I…on days like today I miss him even more.”

“I barely got a chance to know my Dad and by the time I remembered him, he was already gone. Ma tells me stuff but…”

“It’s not the same.”

He nods wiping away a tear as he slips an arm around her shoulders and rests his head against hers, “Can i sit up hear for a bit?”

She nods and they sit in silence for a few more minutes before the door opens once more. It’s Emma, and she she smiles sadly when she spots the two of them crying silently. “Make room,” she announces coming to sit between them, the pair of them separating so that she can hug them both.

“You should be downstairs,” Regina tells her.

Emma shrugs, “I noticed you were both missing…I think I know why.”

Henry sighs, “We miss our Dads…it’s Father’s Day and they’re not here.”

Emma nods, “Not physically,” she replies, “But they’re always in your hearts, they loved you and you still love them so let’s remember them too. Tell me a memory…a good one.”

Henry frowns as he tries to think of one, he has far too few but finally a day comes into focus, “When he first came to town, we went down to the docks and played swordfighting. It was only with these stupid little toy swords but it was fun. We laughed and he let me win, told me I was the hero of the day and the hero of the day always gets ice-cream. That was a good day.”

Emma smiles sadly, “I’m sure he wished he could have had more. He loved you kid even if he didn’t get enough time, he loved you.”

Henry nods, “I know….Mom have you got a good memory to tell?”

Regina smiles, wiping the tear from her cheek, “We didn’t have Father’s Day in my land but I knew when his birthday was. My mother made sure there was a ball with extravagant gifts and dancing but I wanted to do something. I was four so it was the first time I was really aware of it being his birthday so I skipped my lessons and drew him a picture. Mother was furious and banned me from the ball. I was scared and upset but then my father found me. He told me it was the best picture he’d ever had. He hugged me and thanked me for making it his best birthday ever.”

Emma smiles kissing the side of her girlfriend’s head, “He loved you.”

Regina nods, “He did.”

Emma hugs them both tightly as she says, “Happy Father’s Day to those with us and those who aren’t.”

“Who we still love and remember,” Regina adds.

Henry smiles, “Forever part of our family.”

It’s my birthday so what better occasion for some Captain Cobra Swan silliness?

“You two are absolutely ridiculous.”

Both Henry and Killian tore their attention from the video game currently on their television at the sound of Emma’s voice. The distraction proved to be fatal; neither one of them could regain their rhythm. “Aww, man!” Henry cried when the game ended abruptly. “Thanks a lot, Mom. I had a good streak going, too!”

As she tucked her phone out of sight of her boys, Emma swallowed a chuckle. She was trying her hardest to appear annoyed by her boys’ choice of activity but she was fairly certain her amusement was clear as day on her face. “This is what you play when you play video games?”

“The control devices for Henry’s other game systems are not made for one-handed pirates, love,” Killian reminded her, somewhat out of breath from his previous effort.

“I get that but this?” Emma threw her hand out in the direction of the television. “This is what you decide to play instead?”

Henry shrugged. “You don’t need hands, just feet.”

“Aye. Although,” Killian interrupted, frowning down at Henry, “I’m not entirely sure what this particular activity has to do with dancing. I know how to dance. This is not dancing. It’s simply stepping rapidly.”

Henry considered his point “Maybe that’s where the ‘revolution’ comes from.”

“Well,” Killian huffed, “there are some revolutions that just shouldn’t be fought.”

That finally did it. Emma busted out laughing.

Always happy to make his Swan laugh, Killian smiled at her. “What’s so funny, love? I don’t suppose you’d be willing to try your hand at this activity. Or your feet, I suppose.”

No, she most certainly was not, thank you very much. In answer to Killian’s question, she held up her phone. Henry, who must have just now figured out what she’d been doing before she interrupted them, grinned. “I was just thinking,” Emma replied, “that I now have the fearsome and debonair Captain Hook on video playing Dance Dance Revolution.”

With a teasing grin on his lips, Killian stepped up to her and plucked the phone from her hand. “Turnabout is fair play, love. It’s only right that I get to record you.”

Emma heaved a mock put-upon sigh. “All right, fine, I guess if I have to.” She turned to a grinning Henry. “Is this the one with ‘Forever Sunshine?’”

“Yep!”

“All right.” She turned to Killian and smiled. “Watch and learn,” she said, thanking the heavens for the few years of fake memories and the year of real ones in New York of repeatedly playing this exact game with Henry.

When she was done with the song, Killian was suitably impressed.

The three of them ended up spending the next couple of hours playing, taking turns sitting out and only stopping for good when it was time to get dinner going. Who would have thought that one of the best days Emma would have would involve nothing more than her, her boys, and a ridiculous video game?

It had been Henry’s fault.

Thanks to him, Emma had gotten addicted playing video games during her pregnancy, and her favorite had been Portal. So when Halloween rolled around, and the invitation to Regina’s costume-mandatory party came in the mail, she excitedly began putting together her Chel costume.

It had required Henry’s replica portal gun, which she’d gotten him for his birthday after he’d begged for one. So when she went upstairs to ask him if she could borrow it, she had to explain why, and he got really excited.

“We should come up with a theme!” he’d said.

“What, video game characters? But you were Link last year.”

“No, not video game characters. Potatoes.”

“Potatoes?” The hell?

“Yeah, you’re doing Portal 2 for your costume, right?” She’d nodded. “So, stick a potato on the portal gun!”

“Well, what are you going to be?” she’d asked. “And what’s Killian gonna do?”

“I’ll help him.”

“Kid, you remember what happened last time you helped Killian dress up for Halloween.” There had been a misinterpretation the one and only time Killian had ever attempted to dress up for the holiday. He’d gone with the other meaning of “dress up,” which had resulted in him wearing a three piece suit.

And Henry had been the one to help him; he’d insisted up and down that it had totally been a mistake, but Emma didn’t buy it. It had been pretty embarrassing, too, although Henry didn’t know that Emma had been under the impression that Killian was planning to dress up as Han Solo, so she’d shown up in the gold Leia bikini under a trench coat.

“I’ll make sure that doesn’t happen this time, I promise.”

“Good, because he was embarrassed about that, and you know how much he hates messing up when it comes to fitting in here.”

“I said I promise.”

She shouldn’t have believed him.

On the afternoon of the party, she was all set to go. She had on her costume, complete with homemade long-fall boots (okay, so she used a tiny bit of magic to make those). Hazel had on her cute little Space Core helmet, which August helped make. She was in the process of trying to keep the potato from falling off the portal gun when Henry scampered down the stairs in his Samwise Gamgee costume.

“Wow, Mom, you look great!”

“Thanks, kid. Have you been practicing your potato rant?”

“‘Boil ‘em, mash ‘em, stick ‘em in a stew,’“ he said proudly. He went up to Hazel and gave her a big kiss. “Do you wanna go to space?” he asked. “Gonna go to space? Space?”

“Aiming for that to be her first word?”

He laughed. “Nah.”

“Where’s Killian?”

“He’s in the garage.”

“Why?”

“He won’t be able to walk down the stairs in his costume, so I’m gonna help him get it on there.”

“The hell is he dressing up as?”

“Oh, you’ll see,” Henry said, slightly evilly, before scampering out the door. Uh-oh.

But Hazel was starting to fuss. She gave up on the potato for the time being, pulled off the Space Core helmet, and brought Hazel over to the couch. She was still in the middle of breastfeeding when she heard a bit of a commotion outside. Through the door, she could hear Henry almost coaxing Killian along, probably trying to help him up the front steps.

And then the door opened, and Killian awkwardly stepped through.

Emma burst out laughing, and his face immediately went dark. “I knew it,” he said angrily. “I knew this was another one of his pranks. Bloody hell, Emma, tell me it’s not so bad.”

“Oh my god,” she said. She had to calm down; she was laughing so hard, Hazel was having trouble latching. “Oh god, there’s an episode of Friends we haven’t gotten to yet, and that’s Ross’ costume.”

“No.” Ross was his least favorite character. “Please tell me you’re lying.”

“And he shows up at a Halloween party wearing that, and it’s like … this big potato pun–you wouldn’t get it.” She was ruining her eyeliner from laughing so hard. “Henry, get in here!”

“He’s already gone,” he said miserably. “He said he’d meet us at Regina’s.”

“I have an idea,” she said. “I just need to put Hazel down so I can get you out of that abomination.”

When they arrived at Regina’s, Henry was visibly disappointed that they’d found a way out of his prank, and then mildly confused. “I don’t get it,” he said, staring at Killian, whose costume now consisted of a beret, an apron, and a the little egg frying pan Zelena had gotten them as a housewarming gift back in the day (it was small enough to fit into the pocket of the apron, so Killian could free up his hand when he needed to).

“I’m a French fry,” Killian said proudly. “And you should beware.”

“Why’s that?”

Killian leaned in and whispered, almost too quietly for Emma to overhear: “I’ve been known to be rather single-minded about getting revenge.”

Late birthday present to one of my favorite Lancastrian women, my Lady the King’s Mother, Lady Margaret Beaufort. She has recently been villainized yet again by TWP and honestly, she gets such terrible representation. She became a mother aged 13 and had to care for her son and his claim in the world of men. Margaret was a victim of the troubling times of the Wars of the Roses. The survival of her son and his title were her main priority and her ambitions for the throne were only grown once Richard III ascended.

CHAPTER SEVEN

The name of the bar blared cheerfully from a green marquee over the front doorway.  Despite the cold, the door was thrown open, emitting a generous belch of country music and beer-fueled revelry from inside. Gaudy poinsettia decorations blinked from the front windows, a tinsel-clogged wreath dangling from the door handle.

“The Four-Leaf Clover, huh?” Emma said as they trudged toward it, their boots crunching in the gravel of the parking lot, cars clumped tightly together at the far end. “Sounds like a fun place.”

“Hmm,” was Jones’ only response.

Emma gasps as they exit the bar and her mother disappears in a plume of purple smoke. “Regina…”

“Relax,” Regina replies walking back over to her, “I was just making sure she made it home safely…I’m not sure how we’re going to explain that viking helmet to your father though…”

“Early birthday present?” Emma jokes, a smile cracking through and lighting up her face.

Regina grins back upon seeing the glow of that smile before shuffling slightly, “What about you? Do you want a magic ride home?”

Emma sighs scuffing her feet across the floor before admitting, “I don’t know…Henry stayed at the apartment and I’m not sure I like the idea of going back to that big empty house.”

Regina nods in understanding before offering Emma her arm. Once Emma loops her arm through Regina’s, the brunette offers, “You can come back to mine…just for tonight…save us both from being alone.”

Emma smiles tilting her head closer to Regina as she nods, “Just for tonight…”
