this is by far one of my favourite scenes between these two

Comparison of Steven’s and Nora’s Tapes

For Steven:

Isn’t it remarkable, Steven?
This world is full of so many possibilities.
Each living thing has an entirely unique experience.
The sights they see, the sounds they hear, the lives they live, are so complicated and so simple.
I can’t wait for you to join them.

Steven, we can’t both exist.
I’m going to become half of you.
And I need you to know that every moment you love being yourself, that’s me loving you and loving being you.
Because you’re going to be something extraordinary, you’re going to be a human being.

Take care of them, Steven.

For Nora:

Isn’t it wonderful, Nora?
This world is full of so many possibilities.
Each living thing has an entirely unique experience.
The sights they see, and the lives they live, are so complicated and so simple.
I can’t wait for you to join them.

Nora, we can’t both exist but i won’t be gone.
I’m going to become half of you.
And every moment you enjoy yourself, that will be me loving being you.
Because you’re going to become something extraordinary, you’re going to be a human being.
And that’s my favourite part, a human being.
A human being, a human is an action.
i wonder who— how you’ll be, what you’ll think, what you’ll want…
I’m so happy for everybody who’s going to know you.
I’m rambling.
if they look to you, trust yourself.

Take care of them, Nora.

From what we can see, comparing the two videos, Steven’s was shot first. Not only are Greg and Rose more unsure about what they’re going to say and do, they’re also figuring out what should go into the video in the first place.

The first few scenes, which show Greg’s sleeping, messing around, and meeting the seagull for the first time, as well as Rose’s not knowing what the buttons do and experimenting with them, reveal that whatever practice they did going into the video shoot ultimately didn’t prepare them for it fully.

At the same time, when comparing what’s being said between Steven’s and Nora’s tapes, they have the same substance; the same message is being delivered: Rose hoped her child would get to live life to the fullest and make experiences that were fun and happy. She wanted to assure her child that she cared, even though she wouldn’t be there. Most of all, she wanted to assure them that being human was a great thing.

The thing is, Steven’s message is much more brief, and a little more formal. Rose clearly practiced what she wanted to say, and in the first tape, she went for it, likely because of nerves.

By the second filming, she seemed more comfortable in front of the camera and that’s also why she could clear up her nerves and keep expounding on her ideas.

So Steven, who read very deeply into the words of his mother, may have picked up on her saying he would be extraordinary and a human being. And he fixated on becoming someone worth calling extraordinary, when in fact, Rose had always meant to say by virtue of living, one could be extraordinary.

And we can’t really blame him, because he went from being another Beach City kid to being at the centre of an intergalactic conflict. It’s hard to accept that these things would happen to him if he weren’t destined for something.

I’d go as far as to say that hoping he was part of some magical destiny gave him strength at times, despite how bleak the situation could be.

The thing with this line of thinking though, is how much it wears on someone. The responsibility of being accountable for all these people and all these systems that were quite obviously out of his control and consequently responsibility in the first place was heavy on him.

Steven does want to be a hero. He does want to help people. But he felt more comfortable with this being his choice and his decision, not some destiny thrust upon him, not a tradeoff between his life and the many others he’d have to save.

I think Greg’s talk with him helped him process those feelings, which he’d been keeping inside for a while now. Steven thought everyone expected him to be like Rose, and that may have been true at some points in the show, but his father never did. And that’s what made Greg’s words so reassuring, because his sincerity could be felt in all of them.

A/N: Thank you to all those who followed me and read my first fic!  I’m thinking of doing a part two to this one, so if you like it, let me know!

Your fire escape had always been your favourite part of your apartment.  Situated outside your bedroom window, you had spent countless hours of your life lounging on the metal steps, reading a book or catching up on some homework.  Last summer, you had wound a string of fairy lights around the rails, which were coated in shiny dark paint.  Your landlady had protested at first but, after you proved that they weren’t endangering the use of the fire escape in any way, she had let you keep them.  The small victory had brought a smile to your face, and now your escape was even cozier than before, and was still just as cozy a year later.  This year’s summer brought scorching heat and clear nights, and you spent most of your free time out on your escape, trying to catch a breeze.

You sat on your fire escape now, wearing a lightweight hoodie and pajama shorts, doodling in a journal.  School was out for the week and tomorrow didn’t require a six am wake up call, leaving you free to stay up late and admire the Queens skyline at night.  It was nights like these that you loved the most; nights that seemed like they were pulled straight from a movie scene, with stars that glimmered like flames, a full moon bigger than you had ever seen before, and the sounds of the city mixing in with the quiet melodies that drifted out of the speakers propped up on your window sill.  You would be content for the rest of your life if you could keep moments like these forever.

The Best Films of 2017 - Mid-Year List

There have already been many great films so far this year, so I felt it worth doing a run down of my favourite films of the year so far. These all reflect the cinema releases we’ve had so far in the UK in 2017 - for that reason this list includes some films that were released in the US in 2016. Enjoy, and I’d love to hear your thoughts on the best films of the year so far!

Honourable mentions: Their Finest, Colossal, Gifted

1. Get Out, dir. Jordan Peele

This film really knocked me for six, to such an extent that I simply had to see it twice in the cinema. It got even better upon a re-watch, when I was able to watch it with full knowledge of the characters’ underlying motives and the things to come. It’s a terrifying concept (the racism of an all-white suburb is taken to a horrifying extreme) executed with incredible panache, and you feel every emotion that Chris goes through thanks to Daniel Kaluuya’s excellent performance. Get Out also represents one of the most brilliantly communal experiences I’ve ever had at the cinema - I won’t spoil it, but let’s just say that the audience erupted into spontaneous applause at a key moment in the climax. Simply fantastic.

2. The Handmaiden, dir. Park Chan-wook

This film is exquisite - it’s first and foremost a beautiful boundary-smashing love story, and an absolutely marvellous tale of female defiance. It transplants Sarah Waters’ novel Fingersmith to 1930s Korea, and the story is effortlessly adapted to become intrinsically interwoven with its new setting. Sookee is a talented pickpocket plucked from a thieves den and sent as a handmaiden to trick a rich heiress into falling for a conman. To say any more would spoil the twists, but this film is just a masterwork of suspense, keeping you guessing throughout a series of interlocking pieces that take their time to reveal their secrets. I’ve seen the theatrical cut and the extended version, and they’re both great - you’re in for a treat with either.

3. Jackie, dir. Pablo Larrain

This is a film that soars on the strength of Natalie Portman’s incredible performance, which is complemented by Mica Levi’s haunting score. Portman’s performance is painfully vivid, with her agony and wretchedness coming through so intensely that it’s often uncomfortable to watch. Jackie is probably the best portrait of grief I’ve ever seen, and it sucks you into a famous historic event by providing an incredibly intimate perspective on it. This is great cinema, but be prepared for suffering.

4. A Cure for Wellness, dir. Gore Verbinski

This is a delightfully strange Gothic fairy tale of a film, and I’m amazed and impressed that a Hollywood studio gave Gore Verbinski a budget sufficient to pull it off with such beauty and style. I’ve seen this film attract love and hate in equal measure, but I adore it - the trailers set you up for a rehash of Shutter Island, but nothing could be further from the truth beyond the isolated setting. If I had to compare this to anything, I would compare it to Roger Corman’s Poe cycle of films from the 1960s - it has a similarly lurid sensibility and a deep-seated sense of fantastic romanticism at its core. Great if you’re after something uncompromisingly bonkers.

5. Wonder Woman, dir. Patty Jenkins

This film represented pure joy for me - I couldn’t have anticipated how emotional I was going to get at witnessing a (wonder!)woman crossing No Man’s Land and deflecting bullets with her bracelets. This simultaneously rejects the wry self-awareness of the Marvel films and the grim self-importance of the previous DC movies, instead unabashedly depicting a superhero who triumphs thanks to her overriding belief in love and compassion. Patty Jenkins adds endless little touches - from funny moments to quiet scenes where characters talk simply to learn about each other - that enrich the film and make it feel vivid and intimate in a very rare and special way.

6. Silence, dir. Martin Scorsese

This is truly the work of a master filmmaker, and it represents a stunning artistic achievement and a moving and intelligent investigation of the threshold of faith. Scorsese tried to get this made for decades before finally succeeding, and his passion for and belief in the project shine through in every painstakingly crafted frame. Silence is equal parts beauty and brutality, and it uses this contrast to illuminate the painful questions that the faithful must ask themselves when faced with the harsh reality of the present world. It’s heavy stuff, but well worth your time if you’re up for a film that raises more questions than it answers.

7. In This Corner of the World, dir. Sunao Katabuchi

I had no idea this film existed until a few days before I saw it, but I was really struck by its poetic treatment of the joys and tragedies of life. This film follows a young bride who moves to live with her husband’s family in WWII-era Japan, and while it deals unflinchingly with the trauma and horror of war - particularly the bombing of Hiroshima - it’s also surprisingly funny and ultimately hopeful. The power of this film comes through in the little moments of human connection and the way that the full potential of animation is exploited to maximum effect.

8. La La Land, dir. Damien Chazelle

A lovely ode to the classic Hollywood musical, La La Land is a technical marvel that sticks with me because of its heart and humanity (those words are recurring a lot, right?). It tells a very small story of a love affair between two dreamers in Hollywood, but it feels much bigger than them because of the way in which their story is told. La La Land draws from influences across the spectrum of cinema, and its homages to the classics are joyful and loving. The final ‘what might have been’ sequence represents the perfect marriage of raw emotion and filmmaking virtuosity.

9. Okja, dir. Bong Joon-ho

Not many films can balance flatulence jokes with uncompromising critique of capitalist greed, but Okja pulls it off with aplomb. The core story hinges on the innocent and endearing friendship between a young girl named Mija and a bio-engineered super pig called Okja, and the film succeeds because you totally buy their connection and desperately want the two of them to have their wish and live together in the mountains. I’m delighted that Netflix gave Bong Joon-ho a platform to make such a weird beast.

10. Logan, dir. James Mangold

Logan may be bleak, but that isn’t what makes it great - Logan is fantastic cinema because it remembers that superheroes are still people who struggle with their own souls as much as super-villains. This film features the best character work managed in any of the X-Men films, and Hugh Jackman, Patrick Stewart and - in particular - Dafne Keen give heart-rending performances that really ground the film and give it an emotional core. I hope we get more superhero films like this, and that the takeaway from it for the industry is the importance of stressing character rather than frantic spectacle.

Most anticipated films still to come: War for the Planet of the Apes, Valerian and the City of A Thousand Planets, Dunkirk, The Beguiled, Mother!, Logan Lucky, Blade Runner 2049, Murder on the Orient Express, The Shape of Water, Annihilation, Star Wars: The Last Jedi

GoT S07E03 Thoughts

And here we go again.

As always, these are my rambling nonsensical thoughts on the episode, but disclaimer, my stream lagged so i missed maybe 30 seconds to maybe a minute of the episode. Let’s begin.

Jon and Tyrion’s conversations had to be some of my favourite scenes from this episode. That shared smile between them when Jon first lands on Dragonstone and they greet each other was so pure. There is potential for a great friendship between them. They both have an understanding for each other that they don’t share with anyone else. Jon as a bastard and Tyrion as a dwarf. This was evident in earlier seasons too, but more so now that they have both found their places in the world. They respect each other, but they’re fighting for very different causes (and for different reasons) and I wonder if this fledgling friendship will become a point of contention for them later in the story.

Anyway, I wouldn’t be me if I didn’t say that one of my favourite scenes had to be Tyrion and Jon’s conversation about Sansa. What I loved about this scene was although it was fleeting, it still gave us Jonsa feels (if you’re inclined to read the scene this way anyhow).

When Tyrion says, “does she miss me terribly?” Jon is very quiet and they let that silence play on long enough for it to be a significant marker in a conversation. Jon didn’t want to talk about it. It wasn’t an awkward silence; it was absolutely an annoyed, aggravated silence. And then what’s great is that Tyrion immediately went on the defensive and says that the marriage was never consummated.

It’s a strange thing to say, especially when they were so friendly earlier. Wouldn’t it be safe to assume that if Jon had any suspicions that Tyrion had hurt/touched Sansa against her will that exchange would’ve gone very differently? There was clearly no need to mention it at all, but yet Tyrion did and Jon’s response was “I didn’t ask” in a clearly annoyed tone that suggested if this topic didn’t end soon someone was going to get choked out. Either Jon really hates the thought of Sansa with another man he turned into grumpy kitten Jon or he doesn’t want to think about his sister having sex at all. But bear with me here, if it’s the latter, why have this dialogue at all? There’s no narrative reasoning for this whatsoever unless Jonsa is a real possibility in the future and we’re supposed to continue to think about Jon, Sansa and ‘sex’ in the same line of thought.

Okay, okay, admittedly my shipping goggles are on, but I still maintain the fact that it’s a weird piece of dialogue to have. If all they wanted to do was establish Sansa as a real political player, they could’ve cut that entire 2-3 lines out and just went straight into:

“She’s smarter than she lets on.”

“She’s starting to let on.”

And now that we’re onto the topic, I absolutely believe the mention of Sansa’s intelligence here serves two purposes. The first is to establish Sansa as a real political player here. She’s been underestimated by everyone in Westeros, but she’s far smarter than anyone gives her credit for (yes, even Jon).

In fact, jumping straight to Winterfell, you are given a whole scene of Sansa demonstrating that intelligence – not only in keeping everyone fed, but in keeping the soldiers protected. She understands what it takes to rule. But what I love about this sequence of scenes is Littlefinger praising her then going on to claim to know Cersei better than everyone and Sansa just shutting him down, saying she knows her better. Once again, we’re being forced to consider all that Sansa’s learned from Cersei. She just didn’t learn how to play the game but she learned Cersei herself. If anyone can outplay Cersei, we’re being led to believe it’s Sansa.

Why I think this is important is how this episode also demonstrated that Cersei is once again one of the smartest and most devious rulers in Westeros. She completely outmaneuvered Tyrion, Daenerys and Olenna. People think her ‘madness’ from losing her children will make her weaker, but she’s still as shrewd as ever. She is very much Tywin’s daughter, but she’s much more ruthless. Tyrion may be smart, but thus far? He’s not as smart as his sister.

But who is?

Well, there’s a ‘queen’ in the North who is, and the more I think about it, the more I think this quote is actually referring to Sansa:

“Aye. Queen you shall be… until there comes another, younger and more beautiful, to cast you down and take all that you hold dear.”

Because Cersei is right. Dany is a revolutionary, not a ruler. She can conquer and free slaves, but she doesn’t know how to rule. She’s not nearly as intelligent as Cersei in playing the Westerosi game, but Sansa is. She’s learned from the very best after all. Whether I’m wrong or right, I am convinced Sansa’s role in this war will be far greater than just ruling Winterfell in Jon’s stead.

Its second purpose is basically to reaffirm Jon’s faith and trust in Sansa and her judgement. But what I found interesting is the way he says it is almost in an exasperated way, like he knows she is and she continues to “twist him in a way no one else can” because she’s too smart for her own good. But alas, the shipping goggles are on, so take that what you will.

Now onto the big anticipated meeting. Honestly, I enjoyed Jon and Dany’s interactions. The juxtaposition of them as individuals and rulers were pronounced in the last episode, but they were even more glaringly so in this one. While Dany continues to talk about her rightful place and her indignation that he refuses to acknowledge what is hers, Jon continues to fight for his people and the war up North. I mean that’s just the thing, isn’t it? Every mention of Dany being this benevolent ruler who cares about the people doesn’t actually come from Dany. She doesn’t actually say she wants to save the people of Westeros. It’s always someone else because maybe, just maybe it’s not really her true purpose here in Westeros. Yes, I don’t believe she would be indifferent to the loss of innocent lives, but if it was the only way to get her to that throne, wouldn’t you think she’d do it? Wouldn’t Dany say ‘to hell with all of it’ and fly her dragons and burn everything in sight for that throne? If it was her only option, she would choose herself over the people.

Hell, she even says it. After her speech about all she’s overcome, she says the only way she’s endured any of that was because of her faith in herself. While it’s a good speech if you take out the context, Dany’s survived and persevered this long because of her unwavering belief in her birthright, which was to rule on the Iron Throne. Everything else comes second to that. And I refuse to believe that the ultimate hero of the story is someone who believes themselves a hero and entitled to a kingdom.

Whereas Jon was thrust into his position. He would choose the people over himself and that difference was emphasised by this quote they just had to repeat twice:

“…took a knife in the heart for his people.”

Also, the fact that Jon cut Davos off before he could blab about Jon’s resurrection and Dany’s fixation on this feels highly foreboding. It’s definitely going to come back up, but in what way, I don’t know.

Objectively speaking, I could see how Jon3rys could be hinted in this episode, as Jon and Dany come to understand each other, but personally, I believe it’s a tentative alliance at best that borders on an impasse rather than actual understanding. Right now, they can work because Dany has bigger fish to fry and Jon needs dragonglass. But when their objectives clash? What then? You could even see this opposition highlighted in the way they were filmed on that cliff. They’re standing together yet they’re facing opposite directions. They spend far more of that scene looking away from one another than looking eye to eye. Having their first one-on-one interaction being filmed in the light is also quite telling. The sun can be a symbolic source of goodness, but it can also be an oppressive force. Actually, it made me think of this quote from Albert Camus’ The Stranger:

“The sky was already filled with light. The sun was beginning to bear down on the earth and it was getting hotter by the minute. I don’t know why we waited so long before getting under way. I was hot in my dark clothes […] it was inhuman and oppressive.“

Jon is a man of the North. His season is winter. I’ve said in previous metas that having Jon’s resurrection coincide with Winter’s arrival was symbolilc. Where usually in literature winter represents a time of stagnancy or even regression in the hero myth, for Jon, it represents rebirth and growth. Winter is a time for Starks. Having such sunlight bearing down on them in this scene (looking more like summer than winter) and Jon still wearing his furs seems to forewarn perhaps bad consequences with this alliance.

For my Jonsa shippers, this is the exact opposite in how Jon and Sansa’s scenes are shot. They’re almost always in dimly lit areas or surrounded by candlelight, and snow is usually falling. Their reunion also coincided with Winter’s coming, so don’t despair if you are over Jon3rys meeting.

Speaking of how scenes are shot, Sansa and Bran’s reunion couldn’t be more of a stark (ha ha) difference to Jon and Sansa’s. Yes, he was never going to run towards her, but she didn’t nuzzle him. I’ve always said the choice of having Sansa nuzzle Jon’s cheek was a bizarre one. It’s just odd. People don’t nuzzle their family members. But maybe she wasn’t in the nuzzling mood, fine. Go to the godswood scene though and there just seems to be such a distance between Sansa and Bran. I think that’s partially Bran being the Three-Eyed Raven as well because the distance was also entirely about who he is now as well.

Anyway, Clearly in the books Bran’s importance and power is more obvious, so they had to demonstrate somehow that Bran as the Three-Eyed Raven can see everything. But why does he bring up Sansa’s wedding? If they wanted to show off his power, they could have him bring anything else up, so why her wedding? Why bring up Ramsay at all? Shouldn’t Bran know better than that? Especially to tell her she looks beautiful that day after already implicitly saying he knows what Ramsay did to her. It feels unnecessarily cruel for Bran who, while seemingly distant, does love her. It has to serve a purpose for them to write that in. Perhaps foreshadowing a future wedding in the cards for Sansa? Perhaps a fake one to LF? Or maybe something further down the line where it’ll be the opposite of everything she had with Ramsay. No godswood, no beautiful white dress, no snow falling, but with someone she loves and who loves her. I don’t know but I’m just speculating here.

Moving on to my favourite scene in the episode though: Cersei with Elaria. Honestly, Lena Heady is a phenomenal actress. Everyone is so focused on Cersei being this horrible evil villain, but you forget the real nuances to her character. When she asks Elaria why she killed Myrcella, it was delivered in such a vulnerable tone. You really, truly get a glimpse of the heartbroken, grieving mother who just tried to do her best for her children (whether that best was actually good or not), but then immediately after, you get the vindictive, cunning and formidable Cersei as she kisses Elaria’s daughter. It was amazing. Horrible but amazing.

Second favourite scene had to be Olenna’s. What is there to say? She is the Dowager Queen of Badass Bitchery and Snarky Comebacks. Give me a great, complex female villain any day! I wouldn’t even call Olenna a villain tbh. But what I mean is I would 150% take morally grey or morally corrupt female characters over your atypical one-dimensional girl-next-door ones any day, week or month.

Stray thoughts that I don’t have time/energy to write about:

Did anyone else get flirty vibes between Tyrion and Dany?

And does anyone think Jorah’s “perhaps our paths will cross again” sound entirely too foreboding for Sam?

Characters: Bucky x Reader
Warnings: Language, lots of innuendos, Bucky being little shit
Story prompt: “I made the mistake of thinking ‘This can’t get weirder.’ Sorry.”

A/N: First time I’ve done a writing challenge of any kind, thanks @jurassicbarnes for letting me take this one!  I haven’t written anything fluffy in awhile, this felt necessary, and it may require a smutty style follow-up. Also, while I may be a complete shit talker IRL, I am terrible at pool and don’t know what I’m doing, so hopefully this makes sense. And I really need to find someone to edit my wordy ass…

A/N 2: Oh look, I wrote a sequel. Another kinky wager.

It’s because of your rigid work environment that you gravitated toward the local bar. It was one place you could let your guard down, unwind and relax. Distancing your professional and personal life was a necessary ingredient in your sanity, a dichotomy you actively encouraged.

2015 for me, played a MAJOR role in the progression of a romantic relationship between Camila and Lauren. Their harmless/platonic behaviour shared during X-Factor was replaced by a flirtatious tension underlying in their interactions. I’ve re-watched several interviews from 2015 and C and L’s body language simply confirms to me that there was a romantic involvement between the two. I think mid 2014 to early 2016 C and L were together. At times, there’s an obvious negative tension between the two but thinking practically, any disagreements or arguments they had their actions were picked apart by fans. Naturally, at some point we’re bound to see a difference in their behaviour and interactions towards each other. In the post, I’ve filtered out a few key points that happened in 2015 and tried to explain the exact moments that personally confirmed to me certain aspects of ‘camren’. I’ve skipped a few months in which I didn’t think anything too necessary happened, enjoy!

Fifth Harmony Spills ‘Reflection Tour’ Secrets & Shares Embarrassing Valentine’s Day Story! - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zJ8slmkAgdc

Okay, so the girls begun the year promoting the ‘Reflection Era’ in an interview with Chelsea Briggs at the 2015 People’s Choice Awards. Those in the 5H/Camren fandom will know Chelsea is not one to shy away from the idea of C and L being together, even going as far to favourite pictures (including manips), retweet and reply to fans encouraging her as being the “captain of the ship”. Overall the interview was pretty neutral, there was no ‘serious’ interaction. However, something L mentioned caught my attention. Check out 3:27 to 3:44, Camila mentioned after NEW YEAR she got the flu and was “knocked out in bed for 3 days”. Bear in mind, the girls were home from the final week of December through to the first week in January. Lauren mentioned she also go the flu, saying “Camila, Normani and I” then proceeded to mention the rest of their team. What’s very interesting is Normani NEVER agreed with L, she just continued laughing, looking at C as if she knows exactly what’s going on. L and N wouldn’t have seen each other until the girls met early January for Reflection tour rehearsals. So L and C been sick at the same time must have meant they were together during New Year, possibly after spending NYE together?

Fifth Harmony Behind The Scenes | Scoopla - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MClFNEugdj4

Feb 2015, the girls are promoting their upcoming Reflection tour in Australia. For me, I don’t think the girls knew the cameras were still rolling, the interviewer (who I thought was SO rude to the girls) is engaging in small talk before he starts his actual interview. At 0:41 we have C singing one of L’s notes in sledgehammer. L responds “I love that by the way” with C replying “thanks sweets”. The reply seemed so natural to me, they had a little flirty banter going back and forth which appeared to be the norm between the two. Diving a bit deeper, “sweets” is a term of endearment shortened from “sweetheart”. By definition: a pair of lovers in relation to the other, especially when both partners are young. Interesting. The girls then continued casually chatting and interacting during the background before the interview commenced. Nothing too major in February.

March 2015

Fifth Harmony Backstage Reflection Tour Interview- https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qrgGj6NYJCw

A lot of Camren going off in this one. First to mention the very close proximity the girls are sitting in, yes it’s a small sofa they’re sat on but N, A and D all have enough room without their legs touching. Anyway, 1:16 C asking L if she has anything in her teeth, any excuse for Lauren to stare at C’s lips longer than 5 seconds haha. 2:40, I genuinely think L forgot she was in the middle of an interview. C was leaning into her and you can see L about to knock her head onto C’s. Also, L’s “woo” was a little unnecessary, you could tell she was disguising the fact she was so close to her ‘girl’ in public. All throughout this interview you can see C attempting to rest her left arm on L’s leg, but L’s arm blocking her. However, in the following interview: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jl2xqA5bYEc taken the same day, C’s arm is resting firmly on L’s thigh for the majority of the video. For me, that’s a very intimate position to sit in and we definitely do not see L complaining. Back to the previous interview though, at 5:15 the interviewer talks about the “Suga Mama body roll’ being the perfect opportunity to “look back at your man”. L agreed, however whilst the girls did the body roll facing forward, L turned into C’s direction whilst C looked round to L and smiled. I found this one especially interesting.

‪‪Fifth Harmony Dancing With The Stars Live Chat - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kBH5rNCSt18

This is a suspicious one for me. The great thing about live streams is little moments like these, they can not go unseen. 5:08 C reaches for Normani’s leg, but L seems to gently reach for C’s forearm as she does so. Like for me, that interaction is definitely not platonic. It’s almost protective, definitely a slip up on L’s behalf. 5:27 C interacts with Normani again, however this time places her hand over L’s. She also reaches out for Normani’s leg AGAIN, but ends up resting her arm across both L’s. Again a completely unnecessary touch on C’s behalf. Its only at 6:39 when L moves away from the camera do we see C and L were actually sharing a chair together. These secret touches from this interview reminded me of one in 2014, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H8SEGhg8fVs C blatantly grabbing L’s hand with L noticing, looking down and pulling away SO fast. Caught red handed.

This interview gives us a little moment between the two. 1:17 the famous “thanks buddy”.  However, it’s Dinah, Normani and Ally’s reactions that confirm something to me. N and A are smiling at the two, A leans into N whispering “what did they say” (presumably Ally thought they said “baby”). N replies “buddy”, but her face says it all. She raises her eyebrows smirks whilst the two are giggling at each other. C is oblivious to what is going on, she’s just sat smiling to herself after her little compliment from L. After, we see Ally whisper “camren” to Normani, prompting her to playfully slap her on the leg. Now, look to your left you’ll see Dinah realising EXACTLY what is going on. 1:27, D takes a breath and mouths “camren” to Ally. The three then casually continue listening to L. This little interaction with the D,A and N is very suspicious to me. Why would they react like this if nothing romantic was going on between C and L?

Frankie P shows Camila of Fifth Harmony the Austin Mahone Video - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o7U7lEQvKrA

I was debating whether to put this one on here but I’ll just briefly touch upon it. Just quickly for me, the Camila/Austin relationship was PR. There’s no doubt. I know in previous interviews back in 2014, C mentioned being “heartbroken” from her first love. In this interview, she mocks and humours the situation, like fans humoured their managements poor attempt of a PR relationship. To me she doesn’t look AT ALL hurt. In this interview, Camila and Lauren seem to find the whole situation hilarious. Especially L, who’s giggling away to herself throughout. What’s interesting is Ally, Dinah and Normani barely laugh, so why does L find it THAT funny? She knows.

Fifth Harmony: The Bandmate Game - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1A0bR5mgsBY

Okay, I’ve either taken this one out of context and completely misunderstood or I’ve got it right.  The little game is playing out accordingly until one question at the end. See 3:58 “What is something, besides brushing her teeth, that Camila does every night before brushing her teeth”. When I first saw this my mind went straight in the gutter. Replacing the “brushing teeth” part, with Lauren. Anyway, besides the scarily in sync “particular” at 4:17 and the girls throwing out super random things, Ally gets the “put on your socks” prompting L to say “untucking the bedsheets”. This I find VERY strange. I completely understand the girls have lived with each other for 3 years prior. HOWEVER, untucking the sheets is like a routine. For me, you don’t pick up on something like that unless you’re a part of that specific routine. If your partner does something often it becomes part of your routine. It’s SO specific as well, that specific that none of the girls got it apart from L. Also, L’s reaction. She’s so proud she got it, and you can tell that C’s impressed too. That 4:26 high five is also interesting. The little clap they do before is so in-sync it’s SCARY. They regularly mirror each other’s behaviour. It’s a subconscious imitation of the other person’s gesture and is super common in intimate relationships. If you watch a lot of interviews with the girls, it seems to ONLY be C and L who show these types of behaviours towards each other. This is something confirming some sort of romantic involvement to me.

Fifth Harmony nos cuentan sus secretos-  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lxiAtrMSXL4

Finally guys, this is one of my favourite ever interactions between the two. You can see how comforting they are to each other. Firstly, 2:03 L’s little giggle into C, is the cutest thing. 2:14 L asks C “something that I like about you?”. C nods but her body language is timid. She’s grasping her hands super tight on her legs and she subconsciously licks her lips. For me, it’s a nervous tendency, like she’s intrigued in what L is going to say about her. When Lauren says her mind, you can see C visibly relax. L knows C’s passion for her craft comes from her expression through writing. After hearing C’s solo music, she doesn’t hold back from speaking directly from her heart. She’s honest, genuine and we feel that in her words. You can see how appreciative C is of L’s comment. She replies “that means a lot to me” insisting L’s opinion matters, it comforts her knowing L finds her work “beautiful”. The little hug at 2:44 is also super cute. You can tell L didn’t expect it but the way she holds the side of C’s head is extremely loving/protective. Just look at their smiles, you can’t fake that. When Dinah starts speaking, C whispers “thanks” to L, prompting L to turn around and smile at C. Not just a little smile, but a genuine smile. A smile you’d gibe to your partner after they just complimented you. After this little interaction between the two, you can see they are both genuinely buzzing for the rest of the interview. Don’t you just love the tea.

Space and Relationships

Closeness and Relationships

Okay, so I’m watching S03 for the N-teenth time and I’ve noticed a couple cute things for the romantics on this site. Let’s begin!

So let’s start with a couple of basics on relationships and the use of space. Around each person are levels of space we use to show and share intimacy. Mind that some of these spaces change from culture to culture, which I’ll talk about in a bit.

12x10 - “Pterodactyl Screeching into the void” - Part 1

My title is borrowed from @postmodernmulticoloredcloak comment on my crazy blogging after first watching this episode earlier. I feel like it is a fitting title for how this episode made me feel. To clarify, these are very very happy pterodactyls.

Steve Yokey wrote this episode and he appears to have well and truly taken up the gap left when Robbie Thompson sadly left the show. In fact this episode to me channels the ghost of Robbie in many different ways. From the fanfiction-esque moments of poor suffering third wheel Sam, to the meta nod to Charlie Bradbury, there is much of Robbie to be found here. Basically, it was bloody perfect.

I feel like there is so much to talk about in this episode that fandom will be chewing on it for months if not years to come. Yokey has picked up the characterisations brilliantly, and seems to have an understanding of what the fandom desperately craves in terms of Castiel, his character, his personality and his development. I adored his sass in this episode. Some other writers *cough*bucklemming*cough* struggle to really capture Castiel’s sass and humour. Showing their lack of understanding of Castiel’s persona and his intelligence and instead writing him in a way that is jarring and sometimes basically stupid. Castiel is far from stupid. In this episode he was written perfectly, in a way I haven’t seen since Edlund’s time. Is that a sweeping statement? Maybe. But I’m still riding my high so let me have it this time.

This episode gave us three of my favourite things. Badass and Sassy Castiel, Overprotective grumpy husband Dean, and poor long suffering brother Sam. (baring in mind this is how they are usually written in fanfiction nowadays this is exactly my jam and I am so so happy to see it play out on screen. Seriously who sold their soul to Crowley for this episode?)

This review will also be in two parts. Because I have so freaking much to say about it.

The first part will focus on destiel, the second on everything else including Castiel’s emotional arc (as separate from destiel), his relationships with angels, angels and gender and Lily Sunder’s character.

PART 1 - ALL THE DESTIEL

Matty’s Interview with The Sunday Times Style

I wish I had a teenage daughter. Why? Because here I am with Matt Healy, the frontman of the 1975, who has just offered to take his shirt off in order to give me a tattoo tour. There’s the one dedicated to his nana; his mum, Denise “Loose Women” Welch, is on his foot; his dad, Tim “Auf Wiedersehen, Pet” Healy, is on his arm; and his brother, Louis, on the back of a calf; there’s the one dedicated to William Burroughs, the author of his favourite ever book, Queer; then there’s the one on the inside of his left wrist… of his passport number. “I got bored of being constantly woken up by a woman offering me a landing card while my tour manager, who always carries my passport, is conked out somewhere behind me. I thought it would be useful. It’s really all I need on a plane.

Welcome to the world of the 1975, whose second album, I Like It When You Sleep, for You Are So Beautiful yet So Unaware of It (yes, really), went straight to No 1 in both America and the UK last year, and who won the best band award at the Brits in February. They have just announced that their third album, Music for Cars, will be out next year, and when we meet they are about to go on tour, kicking off in Mexico and ending in July at Latitude Festival in Suffolk, where they will headline alongside Fleet Foxes and Mumford & Sons. If you’re not familiar with their music — think Pete Doherty mixed with One Direction, maybe — it’s probably because, like me, you’re too old. That said, Mick Jagger, whom the band supported when the Stones played Hyde Park in 2013, is a huge fan — so fond of their hit single Chocolate, he has been known to put it on after dinner for guests.

Yeah, I remember that gig,” says the 28-year-old Healy, with a faint Northern accent. “It was before I had my eyes lasered and I wasn’t wearing my glasses. Pointless. There were 50,000 people there and I could only see about four of them, but out of the corner of my eye I could just make out this gyrating figure and it was Jagger dancing to Chocolate. Mick Jagger — can you f****** believe it?

Error Pt 1

pairing: yoonkook x reader

 genre: soulmate!au, college!au, basketball player!yoongi, angst, smut, poly!yoonkook x reader

 word count: 2,082 words

 warnings: homophobia

preface: au where when you look in the mirror you can only see your soulmate in the reflection

Part 2

The first time you ever really remember looking in the mirror and understanding what you could see was when you were six. You’d wandered into your parents’ bedroom and stood in front of the wooden, full-length mirror in front of the window. You had jumped at the reflection. On one side sat an older boy, he must have been at least thirteen –maybe fourteen. His hair was dark, pitch black and he had a short block fringe that now, you imagine he regrets. His wide nose reminded you of a cat or a lion and in that moment he had it scrunched up, showing displeasure. You didn’t think he was beautiful then, but adorable in his pubescent state and teenage angst.

Your eyebrows had furrowed taking in the other side, a much younger boy than the other but still older than you – probably eight. This boy exuded adorable, down to his bright, shy smile that reminded you of a bird to his nose that seemed too big for his face and his mop of dark hair. You had never been more confused. The distinct split between the two scenes was clear. Your excitement overwhelmed you. You had two soulmates.

After that it was never a good thing. Your parents hadn’t believed you, it was unheard of and everyone from then on decided you were an attention seeker. Your parents begged you to ‘grow out of it’ to ‘stop making stuff up’. People at school were relentless with their gossiping and labeled you a greedy slut all because of what you saw in the mirror.

Despite that, you couldn’t stop loving the boys in the mirror. Watching them grow older they became so beautiful. The elder first, as he changed his hair with a fierce undercut and various colours over the years (although you had your favourites), his jawline grew sharper and his features maturing from the nerdish boy you used to see. He thinned down but still had lean muscle that helped him with his basketball career; you love to watch him play. His air of dominance juxtaposes with his playfulness that you crave to have love you. Then the younger, his nose grew into his face and suited him well as he became a man. He hasn’t lost his boyish charm, his shyness that you want to protect; the softness of his pout paired with his curious gaze. The skinny figure was gone, replaced with thick thighs, biceps and from the times you had caught him in the shower muscles galore. They were fucking hot and you want them in every way possible.

You need your soulmates more than anyone, desire them in such a way that burns you to feel the need so fiercely. For once, when you meet your soulmates, you would find the only two people in the world who would believe you and the only two people who could prove everyone wrong.

When you were eighteen you moved out and moved far away from people who knew about your soulmates. You took your best friend, the only person you really gave a shit about and vice versa and moved together to an apartment in Seoul.

Your nikes slap against the floor of the corridor as you make your way to your class. It’s your first day at college and you’re already fucking late unsurprisingly. You pull your backpack over your other shoulder and burst into the lecture hall for musical composition, stopping the professor mid sentence and causing the entire class to turn and look at you. You’re just about to spout out your apologies when your mouth drops. The mop of hair turned his head too, this time its lighter –he’s seemed to prefer it like that as he’s grown older-. He’s fucking gorgeous. You don’t even take a second to tell if he’s noticed who you are you just take the seat nearest to you and take a deep fucking breath because holy shit it’s happening.

The professor starts talking again but you can’t hear a word of it. You unzip your bag fumbling for your compact mirror that you cant seem to find no matter how much noise you make, catching the attention of people near you. You almost begin to cry when you find it and you have to clasp a hand over your mouth to stop yourself when you open it. On one side see the bright lights of the hall and the wooden rows and you just can’t fucking believe he’s here. The relief swamps you, drowns you. Finally.

Needless to say the class fucking drags. You don’t care about anything coming out of that professor’s mouth and every second is like days as you stare at your compact and try to hold your emotions in. When the professor announces that the lecture is over those are the only words you hear and you scramble further to the front towards your youngest soulmate, nervous yet elated.

He’s packing away his things and he doesn’t seem to be tense at all indicating he didn’t see you. You shuffle through the row towards his desk and touch him on the shoulder. ‘Hi.’ you say nervously. It’s an underwhelming greeting but your mind is spinning so fast you can’t bring yourself to care. The mop of brown looks up at you and his face falls. ‘I’m y/n,’ you say shyly ‘I’m your soul mate.’ He shakes from your grasp. ‘Leave me alone, please.’ He says firmly and the sweet, shy boy you saw in the mirror seems lost in that moment.

‘Huh?’ you’re so fucking confused. This is not the moment you dreamed about. What the fuck is this?

‘I don’t want anything to do with him and consequently, you. So please, leave me alone.’ He’s so curt he hardly even sounds angry and that scares you more -like you couldn’t change his mind if you put a gun to his head.

‘I don’t understand. You mean our soulmate?’ you ask, bewildered. He grits his teeth and cringes.

‘He will never be my soulmate.’ He spits. ‘I’m not a fucking faggot.’ The beautiful boy with the adorable smile and the thick thighs turns the other way and gets the fuck out of there.

You slump into the section of the bench he had just evacuated. The room is empty, all the students have gone and all you can care to do is sit and cry.

You drag yourself home after a while, feeling pathetic and feeling like your world has come crashing down –it has and it’s painful. Once you reach your apartment door you reach in your pocket for your keys only to drop them on the floor and you sigh and lean against the wall for support as tears still slip down your cheeks. You wipe them quickly, bend down to pick up your keys and unlock the door. Bags flung to the floor, you shuffle towards your room feeling broken.

'Y/n! How was your- oh shit.’ your best friend Hyunmi rounds the corner before noticing your tear-stained face. ’

Yeah, oh shit.’ you reply

‘What happened?’ she breathes pulling you close as you begin to heave with sobs.

'I found him, Hyunmi. The youngest, with the bunny teeth and th- the pretty arms but h- he doesn’t want me.’ your chest hurt as you let out yet another sob and Hyunmi could do nothing but stroke you hair as you cried.

You hadn’t looked in the mirror for the past week. Dreading being reminded of your soulmate who shredded your dreams. You wanted to look, to try and find some shred of hope that he gave a shit but you were haunted by the encounter. Hyunmi was trying her best to comfort you but with you being the more outgoing one she was struggling to get you to leave your bedroom let alone the apartment. You lay on your bed, curtains shut with the glare of your laptop in front of you when Hyunmi decides that she’s had e-fucking-nough. ‘

Y/n get up.’ She orders, entering the room without a knock.

‘I don’t want to.’ You reply, not even glancing at her.

‘Y/N Y/L/N, you have another beautiful soulmate who’s waiting out in the world for you and for god’s sake you don’t want to end up missing out on him too so get the fuck up.’

‘It’s not that fucking simple Hyunmi. What if he doesn’t want me either? What if the same shit happens?’ You argue.

‘What kind of crappy excuse is that? That’s not you. That’s not who you are. You fight for what you want. You take risks. You owe it to yourself to try. Don’t argue with me on this just because you’re scared.’ She retaliates. It’s the first time you’ve seen her stand up to anyone and assert herself. You realize quickly if you’d pushed her to that point then you need to listen to her.

 ‘Okay.’ You breathe.

‘Okay?’ She questions. Shocked that your stubborn ass would actually back down from your standpoint.

 ‘You’re right.’ You acknowledge.

 ‘I love you.’ She says.

‘Yeah, I love you too.’ You smile weakly.

A few days later you’re doing your best, you’ve been looking in the mirror again and although you know you shouldn’t all your hope is entrusted in the elder. You hope his years have taken away the childishness the younger displayed and you’re suddenly more desperate to find him than ever. To have someone smooth over the chaos your other soulmate has left. You stare at him, practicing in the court, going out for drinks and the need for him is stronger than it has ever been.

Today you have musical composition and you feel sick at the thought. You plan to get there early, hoping to take a seat at the very front so that you don’t even have to look at the back of his head. You’re practically running through campus to try and get there and when you reach it you’re twenty minutes early. You ease the large door open gently in order to peer inside and upon seeing the empty hall you let out a sigh of relief. You take a seat in the front and try to calm yourself down as you remember the rejection and hurt that ripped through you last time you were here.

You bend down to reach your bag and get out your equipment when you hear the door open and you lift your head up to look at the intruder.

‘Oh… I… I’m sorry.’ It’s him.  Your heart feels like it’s breaking all over again, just like that.

‘I guess we had the same idea.’ You state, unsure of how to feel or act. He didn’t seem so angry this time around. You get up and approach him tentatively.

‘I- I’m sorry y/n. I don’t want it to be like this. I’m a good guy. I don’t… I don’t want to hurt you.’ He says like he’s needed to say it for a long time.

‘I need you.’ You reply, wishing that you weren’t the kind of person who spouted out your feelings so honestly.

‘Fuck. I can’t do it. I gotta go.’ He says, seeming conflicted. He turns to go but you grab his arm feeling the veins you’d always admired when you’d seen him working out. He winces as you do so, like he can feel the bond that pulls you together like magnets.

‘Please, wait,’ you don’t know how to convince him ‘like… fuck, can I at least know your name or something?’ He shakes you off.

‘If things were different, I think I could love you.’ And it’s then that you’re reminded of the shy little boy you used to watch giggle on the floor as he played with his anime figurines.

‘But you can. You can.’ You urge.

 ‘Not with him.’

‘But he’s beautiful and strong an- and determined.’ You say as tears begin to build in your eyes.

‘I know.’ And he says it so softly that you feel as if you’ve overheard a private moment that he didn’t intend for you to know about, for anyone to know about. He turns to leave and you can’t stop him as you’re stunned by his words that contrast so much to how he’s been acting. Just before he opens the door to leave he turns back, a single tear slipping down his face. ‘My name’s Jungkook.’ and then he’s gone again.

A/N: Ahh I hope everyone enjoyed this! This is my first story so I’d love feedback and I promise there will be smut and Yoongi in the next chapter, which will be coming soon.

anonymous asked:

can you recommend some korrasami fics?

Of course I can! Man, I don’t even know where to start, but these are some of the ones that come to mind (they aren’t ranked in any particular order):

March of Progress by @threehoursfromtroy

The Avatar must protect nature, foster peace, and keep the world safe.
The CEO of Future Industries must expand, innovate, and, at the end of the day, turn a profit.

Korra and Asami have fallen in love, and fallen hard. But when their duties come between them, their world convulses around them, and their pasts still haunt them both, can the world’s most powerful couple survive?

~ I’ve recommended this many times and still stand by this fic. We get to see the development of Korra and Asami in terms of their relationship, their characterization and their hardships. Also, the author is an absolute sweetheart!

http://archiveofourown.org/works/6996448/chapters/15938416

Place in the World by paxbananaKorra struggles to find her place in the world. Continuation-fic. Related to One on One.

~ Honestly, I think this may be one of my favourite ongoing korrasami fics so far. The author alternates between Korra and Asami’s perspective in this story and brings about brilliant characterization/introspection as well as culture (we get to experience a lot in regards to the Southern Water Tribe). Seriously… just read it when you have the time. (Yes, I know some people have a problem with the labels used in this story and I completely understand, but try to give it a chance. I think the author has been quite respectful in how they handled the whole situation - but, if this type of thing really does bother you, consider giving this fic a pass)

Absence of Light by @sniperctTen years ago, Avatar Korra opened a spirit portal in the center of Republic City. In the decade since, Korra has overseen a new era of peace. But there are dangers old and new, creeping shadows threatening to strangle and choke out the light and throw the world back out of balance. In the absence of light, what hope remains?
~ I’ve recommended this to some people because it’s honestly one of the best stories that I’ve ever read (this too, has its own series called The Avatar and the Inventor). Here, we have a badass married Korrasami couple and a very interesting/dangerous villain. We also get to see some good ol’ characters from ATLA!http://archiveofourown.org/works/4269738/chapters/9667932

The Everthere by @guileheroine

Korra and Asami on the steady, special road to life partnership. A post-reunion, post(ish)-college roommate AU.

~ So, I’m not usually a fan of AU stories, but this one has left me stunned on multiple occasions. The characterization of Korra and Asami is divine, their relationship progression is so pure and beautiful and the story is captivating. It’s a slow burn story that is definitely worth your time!

http://archiveofourown.org/works/8541466/chapters/19581724

(The characterization in this story reminds me of Nightmares and Daydreams by SorbetLaitier - another sort of slow burn type of story that I would highly recommend ~ https://www.fanfiction.net/s/10837027/1/Nightmares-and-Daydreams)

All These Broken Hearts on That Pole by Gummy

Korra knew this was insane. Absolutely utterly mad. The first time she ever stepped foot in a strip club and of course she had to fall for one of the strippers. The entire thing felt like a tired, worn out cliche. But cliche or not, something was happening and she sure as hell wasn’t going to let it slip through her fingers.

~ This is another AU involving a strip club - need I say more? I haven’t read this one in a while, but I would definitely say that it’s worth the read!

Parts to Play by @darling-gypsum

Asami Sato has been raised her whole life to distrust benders, but now, she doesn’t know quite what to make of the Avatar. The two girls bond as the Equalist threat looms over Republic City, but the threat could be closer than Korra realizes. Asami’s allegiances are tested. (designed to blend the “Asami Equalist AU” into most of the show canon, so Korrasami, Makorra, and Masami ships are all acknowledged and explored)

Unseen moments in the last two books, as Korra and Asami fly out of and back into each other’s lives.Sequel to “Parts to Play” Books 1 & 2.

~ This is definitely a must-read story! It takes an alternative path in books 1 & 2 with an equalist!asami narrative. Book 3 & 4 are more of what we are used to in the show. The characters really get fleshed out and we get to see lot of behind-the-scenes moments/interactions. A very beautiful story/series indeed!

http://archiveofourown.org/works/3987445/chapters/8951752

http://archiveofourown.org/works/6108466/chapters/14000713

Book 5: Light by @asami-snazz

A complete Book 5 story following Korra and Asami from the final and beyond as the couple navigate through their new relationship whilst also dealing with rising anti-spirit tension at home and considerable political instability in the rest of the Four Nations as Korra and Asami are tested more than ever before.

“The canon seemed to be being fired carelessly from the Spirit Wilds. Korra…No…Gut instinct told Asami that the Avatar would be there.”

~ I’ve always had a great liking for this story! Very nice characterization and relationship-building for both Korrasami  with a really neat plot! It starts out fluffy but gets very interesting as the chapter go on! We get to Asami have some amazing moments and we also get to see a bit more about Korra’s mental state. Highly recommend this!

Stand on the Horizon by theinvisblekunst

In 159AG, a portal opened at the bottom of the Mo Ce Sea, allowing giant monsters that became known as the kaiju to enter the physical world. For eight long years, the world’s benders were the first line of defense, but the loss of life became too great. A fifteen year old Asami Sato has the solution, and she presents her idea to the world: Build giant mechs to fight the kaiju. She calls them “jaegers.” Now, three years later, her jaegers are the primary kaiju-fighting weapon, and she’s determined to pilot her own. Who knew the avatar would also want to be a pilot.

~ Another AU that I decided to give a chance and wow, I was not disappointed. I was a big fan of Pacific Rim merely for it cool action-packed sequences. The idea of giant robots fighting giant monsters is always pleasant to think about. Throw Korrasami into the mix and you get an even more entertaining story, especially when the drift is involved.

This story was quite emotional for me, but I can’t recommend it enough! Korra and Asami become the true legends in this AU.

anonymous asked:

Do you have a favorite guide? something like "Story Plotting for Idiots" type thing? I think I'm pretty well read in terms of lit and movies and such. But I'm at a loss as to where to start to start working on my own. I have TONS of ideas, always have, but the organizing of something longer than say, 500 words always gets bogged down. HALP?

I guess the closest thing to a favourite writing guide that i have is Stephen King’s On Writing, though there’s less ‘this is how to do writing’ and more ‘this is how Stephen King does writing’. Fortunately, or unfortunately, depending on how you think of it, there’s no single way to approach writing that is going to work for everyone, it’s all very subjective and personal.

Even going from one project to another, sometimes the same approach won’t work, it’s a matter of what works for you at that moment, for that project.

You can google ‘how to write’ and you’ll come up with dozens of ‘foolproof’ guides and approaches, ‘save the cat’ or ‘the snowflake method’ or a dozen other things. Some of them will have elements that will be helpful to you, and you should feel free to cherrypick what you need and discard the rest – these approaches are written by people for whom they’ve worked. If it doesn’t work for you don’t agonise over it, just move on, try another approach. Keep on plugging.

That said, the one approach that I’ve consistently been able to use and have work for me, is a very blunt approach. Similar to Stephen King’s ‘write three pages a day every day’, and sort of inspired by the whole NaNoWriMo approach to writing, “BICHAK” (Butt in chair, hands on keyboard).

I call it ‘tippy tappy’.

What I do, is I have my ‘outline’ – which is usually a single sentence describing what will happen in a scene, plus a couple of sentences about the emotional/ conflict outcomes that should come from that scene – and then I sit down, set a fifteen minute timer, and just type until the buzzer goes.

So long as you keep tippy tappying on the keyboard for the whole amount of time, you’ll have something to show for it. One scene at a time, one fifteen minute chunk at a time, and that’s pretty much the only way I get anything substantial done.

Now as to HOW to plot?

I seldom know exactly how my story is going to go, or how exactly it will end. I’ve talked about a Problem based approach to narrative, and I start with that, generally. Here is a Problem that is going to affect the characters, who are these people and how are they going to react to it, what is going to happen in their lives as a result of the problem?

I’ll use my current project as an example, I’m about 4000 words in, it will probably wind up being around 60-80k by the time it’s finished. My outline so far encompasses the first two chapters. At the moment I don’t know exactly what the antagonist is going to do, but I do know how to lead up to it.

My outline looks like this:

[Sorry about the blurring, I just wanted to show how I have it laid out without folks reading my awful notes!]

So I have an A4 notepad, ruled with a line down the middle, just for personal preference. In blue headings and green notes, I have my outline for chapter one. I’ve finished all but the last scene in chapter one, and I’m at 4000 words in the manuscript, so you can see it’s a fairly compact way to outline.

The black heading and red notes is for chapter two. It also just happens that I’m writing from alternating perspectives between my two protagonists, so the different colours helps keep those two POVs distinct. I may or may not write a chapter or two from the antagonist’s perspective at some point, and when it gets to that I might pick a third colour set to write those in, depending on how complex my notes are to look at.

When outlining, the main thing that needs to happen is that you have to be able to tell at a glance what you’re up to and what you wanted to happen next. I quite often get into trouble because I’ll start writing an outline and then wind up accidentally writing on my outlining page, I get so caught up in details that I forget the longer-term goals that I set out intending to write down.

Using bullet points to keep outlines manageable is something else that I’ve found helps. Keeping things simple ‘Jack wants X but he’s conflicted about Y and that leads to trouble with Z’. These are just the notes to remind yourself of the path you’re going to take. And if you find a path that branches off in a direction you didn’t expect, but it looks more exciting? Take the branching path. Keep your old notes in case it leads to a dead end, but after wandering around you’re going to have more material to work with, and more material is always good.

No writing is wasted.

I have TONS of ideas, always have, but the organizing of something longer than say, 500 words always gets bogged down

Okay, having tons of ideas is a way better problem than having not enough ideas, so we can work with this. 500 words is a great starting point.

  • Pick your favourite ideas that you think will fit together.
  • Decide what you think the big Problem of the story is going to be, what do your characters need to resolve in order to have an ending?
  • In one sentence, write down what will happen in the first scene
  • In 1-3 sentences, write down how the main character will feel about it, what changes for them in the course of that scene, and what they want going forward.
  • Do the same for the next two or three scenes.
  • Sit down at your writing implement of choice (computer, notebook, stone tablet, etc)
  • Set a timer. You can start with ten minutes and work your way up. Sometimes I do 20 minute or 30 minute stretches, but mostly I find that 15 minutes works best for me, personally.
  • Close all windows except for your writing project, pause netflix, turn the tv off. Have your outline beside you.
  • Start the timer and until it goes off you’re either writing, or you’re staring at the blank page. Trust me, writing is a whole lot better than looking at a blank page.
  • Keep writing. Tippy tappy.
  • When the timer goes off, go get a drink, walk around. Look at facebook or scroll tumblr, whatever you want to do.
  • Repeat until you have a novel.

Essentially, whatever system you pick can only take you so far, no matter how you organise it, writing a novel is a whole lot of just sitting down and writing. One letter after another until you have 80k words. Tippy tappy.

I find that not worrying too much about the whole novel helps. I just focus on the next 5000 words. I know what will happen in the next 5k, and I can write 500 words and then 500 words and then 500 words, and it adds up.

The overarching Problem of the story keeps the gist of the scenes pointing in the right direction, and having the open-endedness of the plot as a whole means that if I suddenly discover a new direction as I’m writing I don’t have a whole bunch of outline work that I suddenly feel like I’m abandoning or losing.

Figuring out what outlining method works for you is going to take trial and effort, but you’ll get there. One scene at a time, one paragraph at a time. Every little bit will help you learn what you’re doing and what you want to do.

BOKUAKA [Bokuto/Akaashi]

Among Us (verse, M) by dgalerab - X-Men AU with a side of kick-ass, angst, more angst and the dynamic between all the characters AND the character development is just… my favourite thing ever. You’re in luck if you’re an IwaOi (and KuroKen) fan too: this is literally the fic that converted me from being ‘neutral IwaOi’ into ‘I’m now completely and irrevocably in love with them’. read also: e-v-e-r-y-t-h-i-n-g by dgalerab, starting with Notes: Bokuto Koutarou (G)

arrogant boy, love yourself so no one has to (oneshot, G) by earlgrey_milktea - Bokuto-centric character study and the consequence of familial expectations. Hooo boy, this was the first BokuAka fic I ever read and it still hits hard. So, so well done. read also: and your heart’s against my chest (G)

Behind Bricks (multi, E) by deathbelle - “Akaashi has always had a good idea of what his future would look like. Becoming a prostitute hadn’t been part of the plan.” Okay, I’m captivated by Akaashi’s characterisation when he’s between a rock and a hard place - and it’s not as explicit as you’d think (or at least not yet), but there’s a huge level of introspection and ‘what would you do’ in this fic and I cannot get enough of it. No kidding, the weekly update schedule of this is the reason why I now look forward to Saturdays.

better than spy films (oneshot, G) by dalyeau - Akaashi is Kuroo’s new roommate and Bokuto falls in love. …Yes I know dalyau’s fics are some of the most popular BokuAka fics on AO3 but~ they’re exactly that for a reason and I’ll forevermore adore the heck out of them. read also: love in the time of wifi (G), tea-stained polaroids (G)

bitter (twoshot, G) by silvercistern - Valentines/White Day fic. The fact that these two chapters were posted on the corresponding days make them all the more sweeter– or… not sweeter? Good bitter? (And yes, the countdown to White Day was agonising purely because I couldn’t wait for this update and it was so, so worth it.) A headcanon I could 100% believe in Akaashi and, of course, no-one would pick up on something like that faster than Bokuto Koutarou. Super quirky, completely adorable. read also: Character Development (T)

Finale Thoughts on 7.07

This was a bad eighty minutes of television.

On the one level, I don’t know how they got to eighty minutes, when so much of this episode was people walking places very slowly, fanservice conversations, waiting for other people to arrive, and stating character arcs to each other. On another level, from the sheer amount left offscreen, there ought to have been eighty minutes of story to tell.

magnusbaene  asked:

how about some squad observing magnus and alec being in love? alternatively: magnus and alec in the institute, being competent but also cute af, if you'd like ♥

the institute is a steady buzz of activity when alec finally escapes from his meeting, hours of back and forth with stubborn clave ambassadors refusing to admit that there was still immediate danger, even with Valentine in chains. Someone had taken the soul sword, and Valentine was way too calm for a monomaniac in custody. in the end alec had decided to ignore their advice, which was quite plainly that they should fix up the wards and resume business and usual, and would instead lead an investigation into the missing mortal instrument himself.

when he finally reaches the ground floor, exhausted and irritable, he finds a certain warlock leaning casually against one of the desks, deep in conversation with clary. it makes alec smile, the tension in his shoulders falling away the closer he gets and it makes something soften inside that magnus falters mid-sentence to fix alec with a comforting smile. “rough day at the office?” he asks, producing a cup of to-go coffee and a paper bag, “i brought you breakfast”

“if that’s a croissant from the Parisian bakery i will marry you right now” alec tells him, stealing a soft kiss and gladly accepting the proffered food. beside magnus, clary offers alec a warm smile. that’s a thing they’re doing now, smiling at one another; tentatively easing into the kind-of-almost friendship they’d thought about before everything happened with clary’s mom.

Yuri on Ice Fic Rec Mega List

So, this is my own YOI Fic-rec list, compiled from my absolute favorites I’ve been reading during the last three months.

But first, a couple of notes:

Not a lot of angst here (there is some) because I much prefer fluff (and smut), or both (as my friend likes to put it – smuff). Almost all of the stories are T and up, most are M and up.

I don’t do sad endings, y’all. The YOI story is so fucking optimistic, it deserves to be treated as such (sure, if your kink is major character death, go for it, it just won’t be on MY list).

I much prefer the novels, dammit, the longer the better, but there is a section with one-shots and short stories, I just like it less.

I ADORE healthy relationships with good communication, and except for the obvious here, most of these are.

So what do we have here?

A few Fill in the Gaps (FITG) stories, a few Time Travel (TT) stories, two major skating AUs (one of them probably one the best known fics in this fandom) and one completely different AU, One Sub/Dom story that cured me from “50 Shades” (don’t judge me), lots of fluff and domesticity, lots of communication in relationships, lots of social media shenanigans, a few crack stories and a WHOLE LOT OF LOVE ON THE ICE.

The only ships are Victuuri and Otayuri (when they’re older), as I don’t ship them with anyone else, and other ships as side notes.

So. Onwards.

The Novels

Honorary mention - The Rival series – Until My Feet Bleed and My Heart Aches/Of Bright Stars and Burning Hearts, by Reiya. Complete/WIP (Rated E)

General: Ah, boy. So much has been written about this series I don’t really have to add a lot. If you are in this fandom and read fic, you will have heard about this story long before this.

Just for the record – a “What If” AU, told first from Yuuri’s perspective (UMFB&MHA, complete) and then from Victor’s (OBS&BH, WIP), about what would have happened if one small detail was different and the result would be a rivalry between the two. One of the first fics I read and a DAMN GOOD ONE. Like I said, it’s the only one on this list with actual long lasting ANGST, but it’s also beyond sweet.

Bonus points:

Amazing world building, wonderful characterization, handling difficult issues very well, and very good writing.

LOOOOOOONG. As in, novel length. For someone like me, that’s wonderful.

OBS&BH has a pretty regular update rate – especially regarding the fact that Reiya is a FUCKING MEDICAL STUDENT, so tons of kudos to them for keeping the updates as regular as they are.

Reiya (kazliin) is very active here, and answers asks and gives us world building and top ten lists and LIFE I tell you.

One of the best usages of Social Media snippets.

Comments:

A third fic is planned, with lots of fluff and extra scenes, which is something we are looking forward to in the extreme.

Don’t skip the music connected to the story, as it is very important!

Bear Your Soul on the Ice, by SassySalchow (diedraechin). WIP (Rated M)

General: At age 14, Yuuri goes to train with Yakov in Russia and meets his idol, which turns out to be a real dork. The story spans years of both their lives and their relationship (with each other and other people), and it so wonderfully researched and wonderfully written.

Bonus points:

Long, and getting longer. As far as we know, the story is supposed to be around its middle point, and as it currently has 21 chapters and 126,442 words, you do the math.

Amazing (!!!!!!) Original Characters, ones that you don’t want to let go of, and can’t really remember that are not a part of Canon.

The skating descriptions are STUNNING.

Pretty regularly updated.

Social media shenanigans – and texting – from before WhatsApp, oh, dear lord.

Comments:

Additional fic (Life and Love off the Ice) always being updated with titbits and extra scenes.

Winter Song, by proantagonist. WIP (Rated E)

General: One of my favorite FITG fics, and one of the best written. It begins after chapter 7 and goes on after the finale. Lots of really cute Victuuri, tons of healthy communication and fluff (…and smut, yeah).

Bonus points:

Did I mention the COMMUNICATION? I don’t think I did. C-O-M-M-U-N-I-C-A-T-I-O-N. Yeah.

Wonderful characterization of all those involved, with extra cuteness when it comes to Yuuri’s family.

Healthy sex. Really. And it progresses in a REASONABLE PACE.

Call Everything on the Ice…, by shysweetthing. Complete (Rated E)

General: Another FITG fic, with Victor being extra insecure and cute as hell while being very bad at directions and learning Japanese. Some miscommunication and angst here, but nothing major.

Bonus points:

The last chapter is extra cute, way into the future.

Victor and Yuuri’s family, my god.

LANGUAGE KINK. YES.

No Less Unthinkable, by rageprufrock. Complete (Rated E)

General: Well, this one is really tons of smut (a lot in the first chapter, less in the second), but it also portrays Yuuri as somewhat more experienced than you would normally see, so that’s cute. First Chapter is pre-canon, second is FITG for S01.

Bonus points:

Wonderful characterization.

Yuuri and Yuri, LOLZ.

Best sex talks EVER.

Quite a lot of crack. Seriously. These people are HILARIOUS. Snap Stories. Phichit. Dear god.

CHRIS. CHRISCHRISCHRISCHRISCHRIS.

Also, it might be 2 chapters… but it’s long. J

Katsuki_fc wrote, by tetsurashian. Complete (Rated G)

General: How Social Media viewed the happenings of S01. Obviously CC, and FUNNY AS HELL.

Bonus points:

THE CRACKIEST CRACK OF CRACKLAND. Really. DO NOT drink ANYTHING while reading this.

People being supportive which is FUN.

Sweetsilversub, by phlintandsteel. Complete (Rated E)

General: Remember the Dom/Sub story I talked about? THIS IS IT. It’s mostly CC (with a bit before canon and divergent from a point), FITG for the sweetest relationship in the world. Some chatroom talks, a couple of Dom/Sub Scenes between Victuuri and HEALTHY COMMUNICATION.

Bonus points:

Did I mention the communication?

YUURI IS THE DOM AND VICTOR IS THE SUB. It fits so well, my god.

The Dom/Sub scenes are handled so beautifully.

Nice and long (you see a pattern here, don’t you?)

OCs are super cute.

The Carnage of the Art, by ExorcisingEmily. Complete (Rated T)

General: CC Post S01. When Yuri gets hurt, Victor and Yuuri take care of him. Some guilt and some angst here, but a lot of relationship building.

Bonus point:

Extra Podium Family - so much love between the three.

TWO PAIR SKATES!

Beautiful characterization and writing.

On My Love, by RikoJasmine. WIP (Rated T)

General: After a car accident, Yuuri finds himself in the past. It’s probably my favorite TT story, as it is incredibly well written. It’s also kind of a tear-jerker, so be warned.

Bonus points:

Yuuri being confident is great.

Vicchan lives!!!

Yuuri being able to be great at what he does, and Victor falls so hard for him it’s magnificent.

THE BANQUET!!!!

Victor and Yuuri’s family! CUTENESS OVERLOAD.

Fluffy as hell.

Comments:

Update rate is quite slow on this one (not complaining, just saying - I know fic writers have a life and whatever they give I’m grateful), but it’s still already nice and long. Worth the wait, IMHO.

Re: Yuri Katsuki, by Ishxallxgood. WIP (Rated T)

General: CC, S01 told from Phichit’s perspective. Lots of crack, lots of social media, super cute and fluffy.

Bonus points:

Phichit is stirring the Victuuri Ship, y’all. Enough said.

Phichit spends money… XD

ChulaCommeti!

From Almaty, With Love, by BoxWineConfessions. Complete (Rated E)

General: The best Otayuri fic I found, where Yuri goes to stay with Otabek for the summer in Almaty. Pretty slow burn, but seriously good read. Some angst (though I’d call it a tear jerker), but worth it.

Bonus points:

Absolutely STUNNING writing and descriptions.

Almaty in summer is described so life-like it’s as if you’re there.

Both Yuri and Otabek are so well written and their interactions are funny and sweet. And real.

Also long.

Comments:

Second fic in the series (Line and Verse) has extra scenes before and after and is just as well written.

Home, by Kurenaito. Complete (Rated T)

General: Post S01, when Victor and Yuuri adopt two girls. Very sweet family dramas.

Bonus points:

Great OCs, well portrayed.

Extra Yuri being a big brother.

Comments:

Two extra fics in the series (Spark to Flame) – Clara tells all (short) and Spark, which picks up after Home and is a WIP.

Blackbird, by sixpences. Complete (Rated M)

General: WW2/Cold war AU, where both Yuuri and Victor are spies. I’m not big on AUs that aren’t skating, but this one is… Just fucking beautiful. Some angst and it can be a tear-jerker, but it’s really, REALLY worth it.

Bonus points:

One of the best written stories I found, including characterization, plot development, pace, descriptions and emotion.

Nice and long.

Yuuri is not a timid little thing! Yey!

THEY JUST LOVE EACH OTHER ABOVE ALL ELSE, MY GOD.

I cried quite a lot during this, but it’s the good kind of tears.

Very well researched.

The sex scenes are not explicit but the go RIGHT TO YOUR BONES.

Comments:

There will be extra fics in the series (Birdsong) to accompany the main one, with more about the side characters and a bit more about our Victuuri.

Turn back the Clock, by IronScript. WIP (Rated T)

General: TT where Both Yuuri and Victor go back in time. This is pure fluff.

Bonus points:

Long and getting longer!

DID I MENTION THE FLUFF

One Shots and short stories

OK, so true, these aren’t my favourites, but these few are still good enough for me to love them.

You can have everything, by shysweetthing. Complete (Rated T)

General: CD – when Yuuri finds Victor’s phone in the Sochi GPF HILARITY ENSUES.

Bonus Points:

Total Crack most of the time (except for Vicchan).

Everything that’s silver is not gold, by SassySalchow (diedraechin). Complete (Rated M)

General: Soulmates story, where the marking on your body grows when you see your soulmate. CC and very fucking cute.

Bonus points:

Pretty long for a one shot and very well written.

Super cute, just about it.

So this guy walks into a bar…, by silvercistern. Complete (Rated E)

General: Victor and Yuuri pretend to not know each other and Victor is BAD at seducing Yuuri. Crack and a bit of smuff.

Bonus point:

Well, the crack, and the fact that Victor can’t seduce FOR SHIT.

Also, being a couple can be very comfortable.

Drunk on You, by kiaronna. WIP (Rated T)

General: Soulmate AUs one shots, each chapter is a whole different story. Most are CC and quite cute.

Bonus points:

Not “regular” soulmate AUs, so a bit more imagination.

Lots of cuteness overload.

That’s it - if you guys have fics to recommend, I’ll be happy to hear!

So...Hamlet.

First off, here am I waking up this morning after Hamlet.

Second off, OH MY FUCKING GOD!!!! I just…there are NO WORDS! The play starts out with HIddleston sitting at a piano, silence, then he starts playing AND SINGING! It was this absolutely heartbreaking song and the whole theater is dark except for one spotlight right on Tom. Then all of sudden FANFARE LIGHTS, SET CHANGE, PANDEMONIUM as the play truly begins. @imaginaryboyfriendcollection and I were sitting in the last two seats on the end, in the front row literally ON THE STAGE. I was on the very end so I was right by the stage entrance and the entire night the actors kept freaking me out because I couldn’t hear them creep up behind me preparing to come out on stage. This also meant every time Hiddleston came out on stage from my side his lovely most wonderful smell of happiness, rainbows, and sunshine would waft past me. It was the greatest high ever! My favourite part of the play was when Rozencrantz and Guildenstern are sent to figure out why Hamlet is going crazy. Rozencrantz and Guildenstern are played by two AMAZING women and so they changed the gender of the names to RosAcrantz and GuildAstern. My favourite was Ayesha Antoine who plays Rosacrantz (seriously Tom NEEDS to date a WOC I SHIP THESE TWO SO FUCKING HARD!) Anyhoo back to the scene, Hamlet is sitting on a couch brooding wearing a hoodie, black jeans, war paint on his face, and his shoulders a draped in the flag of Denmark. When Rosacrantz and Guildastern walk in with a black BeatsAudio Pill speaker playing an upbeat song, Hamlet jumps up and a dance party ensues. I believe this is where the couch humping part came in but I can’t really remember because I was so in awe of everything. But the moral of all of this is Ayesha Antoine and Tom Hiddleston are soul mates and my OTP and my true ship and good god I need them to date after this because they were amazing together and shes all short and petite and he’s all tall and amazing and just UGHHHHH I LOVE THEM! Anyhoo, the play continues, Hiddleston crys real tears and at one point a teardrop drips off his nose and poor baby he looked so sad and miserable. Don’t even get me started on the sword fight between Hamlet and Laertes all I could think about was Coriolanus and that interview where Tom says his sword broke and went flying through the audience. Since I was sitting literally RIGHT THERE I could just see that sword breaking and flying at me or someone losing their footing or something. Another thing to note is throughout the entire play everytime Hiddleston would raise his arms his shirt would rise up and his little tummy would peak out and it was cute and adorable and in his death scene he falls to the ground with his arm reaching up and you can see his abs peaking out and basically I couldn’t cry at the death of Hamlet because I was too busy oogling Tom’s abs staring at me within touching distance.

So yeah…that was my night. Please keep and eye on @imaginaryboyfriendcollection blog today as she is a far more eloquent writer than I am and probably remembers more details. But now you know my favourite scene, the fact that Tom needs to date a WOC, and he humped a couch.

Endless list of favourite K/S scenes in TOS

And The Children Shall Lead

One of my favourite episodes when it comes to K/S is “And the Children shall lead”, S3E4. The episode is pretty famous because of the turbolift scene above, which is something we really need to talk about.

KIRK: I’m losing command. I’m losing the Enterprise. The ship is sailing on and on. I’m alone. Alone. Alone. I’m losing command.
SPOCK: Captain.
KIRK: I’ve lost command. I’ve lost the Enterprise.
SPOCK: Jim.
KIRK: I’ve got command. I’ve got command. I’ve got command.
SPOCK: Correct, Captain.

The most heartbreaking thing here is probably that Jim believes he’d be alone in the universe as soon as he loses his command, which tells us a lot about his character development throughout the series. When people flirt with him he usually shuts them down with the knockout argument that the Enterprise is his only mistress. And it’s true that he lacks a social life because of his demanding post.

But it’s quite telling that he thinks no one will stand by his side as soon as he loses his title or his ship.

ENTER Spock.

Spock who recognized Jim’s rapidly approaching panic-attack and pulled him into the privacy of the turbolift in the first place.

Spock, who tries again and again to pull Jim back, to calm him down. He calls him captain over and over to remind Jim that the panic-attack is unfounded, that the aliens on the ship induce them in everyone except Spock himself (the lucky Vulcan). But Jim continues to panic, Spock seems unable to reach him in this state.

And than Spock calls him “Jim”, something he usually only does when he is emotionally compromised or feels especially affectionate towards Jim. And it works like a charm.

Being reminded that Spock is more than his first officer, that Spock is his friend is what pulls Jim finally out of his state of panic. Because, as it is evident in Star Trek III later, Jim loves his ship and his command, but more than that he values Spock in whatever capacity one chooses to interpret their relationship. And he knows he is not alone as long as Spock stands by his side. For all his ship and his job can give him they can do nothing to take away his greatest fear: dying alone

But Spock is there with him and he can.

And there’s even more in this episode worthy of addressing. Because after they left the turbolift and tried to fix engineering there is this little scene that wouldn’t be remarkable (apart from Spock voluntarily touching Jim to reassure him) if it weren’t for the lighting. Directing a TV-show is a very delicate affair, especially when the budget is as limited as it was in TOS. So to get great effect one has to use whatever is at hand. In this case: the lighting of the scene. I absolutely refuse to believe that the shadows of Jim and Spock move the way they do by happenstance.

There is a connection between our two heroes that is in it’s very essence something hidden, something subtle. Something one needs to take a closer look at to see. Shadows have ever since been used as tools to show hidden agendas, desires (there are quite a few disney moves that come to mind, just as an example) and, yes, also feelings.

This episode is in the third season, Jim and Spock already survived Spock’s pon farr, they traveled back in time together, they were both accused of mutiny and treason, they risked their lives countless times for each other up to the point of endangering the entire crew for each other and they made it this far.

Bones already spoke with Jim about his “affection for Spock” (Operation Annihilate) and the good doctor witnessed Spock basically admitting a “genuine, warm, decent feeling” (Bread and Circuses) for their captain. And now THIS^ happens and I’m supposed to believe that it’s an accident? I don’t think so.
