There’s a saying that goes around that when you do what you love you start to hate it because it becomes work instead of fun, and that’s the problem I’m talking about, allowing people to work at their own pace on benefitting themselves and society only improves the world because they truly are doing things they love and not because they have to but because they want to.
Eliminated the need to work to survive actually allows so much more to get done, disabled people will be able to work and do what they can without harming themselves and without fear of losing their government benefits because they had a single good day.
Eliminated the cost of education also further enriches the world because people can then truly study what they’re interested in, instead of studying for what they need a job in, or purposely cheating so they don’t lose scholarships, it would allow for people to actually learn and study what they find interesting which would lead to so many more scientific and artistic breakthroughs than what we have currently, and it would give access to this success to all.

Can you do a Alex imagine where you go to prom alone and so does he so you end up sorta coming together
title: everything has changed
word count: 1100
note: fckin cute… i love alex…….
Alex was still freshly wounded by Jessica and thus, he had gone alone to the Winter Formal. He wanted so badly to go with someone, but he knew that after the list, nobody would want to go with him directly. So instead, he decided he’d go stag, which wasn’t the most embarrassing thing he could have done.
You were also out of a relationship, having been deemed “not fun enough” by some douchebag football player who obviously didn’t understand that you actually had to work to achieve the scholarships and attention from big name colleges that you were looking at. It’s not like you wanted to go alone, but you had already bought your ticket, your outfit, and the flower arrangement that meshed well with your clothes and the suit your ex-boyfriend was wearing. Admittedly, you were looking forward to going with someone, but you weren’t going to let a lack of a date hinder your night.
The gym was filled with a soft blue glow and slow spinning specks of silver that were coming from the disco ball that always hung above the shiny wooden floors. There was a mass of bodies that danced together, albeit unorganized and messily. You found your place in the back near the refreshments table, relishing in the icy cold of the regular punch (Zach Dempsey had come by to politely let you know that the bowl on the right was spiked).
The next few hours were interspersed with forced dances and talking with friends, but every time you could break away, you did. The bleachers were never comfortable, but it always gave you a few minutes to sit down and not stand on your feet anymore. Alex Standall, the one and only, came and sat next to you, looking equally as dreary as you both watched your exes dance with somebody else.
“It’s shitty,” he remarked as another upbeat song faded into the speakers. “I matched my boutonniere to Jess’s dress months ago and now we’re not even together.”
“You tell me. I bought this stupid outfit just to match with Danny and he broke up with me yesterday,” you replied, rolling your eyes as you dragged your gaze away from the football player across the room. “What a dick.”
There was a silence between you, but it was comfortable. You had both come to the understanding that your exes were jerks and had messed up your nights. Alex broke the quiet as he finally looked over at you.
“You know, your colors kind of match mine. That’s funny.”
You looked down at your clothes and then over at his tuxedo, realizing that your color scheme did indeed match his; you laughed quietly.
“That is pretty funny.”
A slow song was beginning to replace the previous one and it was silent once more, only interrupted by the voice of the singers. People in the crowd were pairing up with each other, all of them seemingly comfortable with the person they were dancing with.
“Hey, uh…” Alex seemed apprehensive, but the look you gave him seemed to give him the courage boost he needed. “Do you want to dance? I know it’s stupid, but I don’t want our nights to be ruined by some stupid exes who broke it off and promised their slow dances to someone else.”
You raised an eyebrow, but nodded. “I’d like that, Alex.”
The soft smile on his face brightened up the space between you and he stood, stretching his hand out to you. You took it and he led you to the fringe of people where it wasn’t so crowded with intertwined couples. His hands rested tentatively on your hips, almost as if he were nervous to touch you. You draped your arms over his shoulders, just as anxious as he was. Then it was a matter of swaying and awkwardly whispering to each other about things as the song progressed. You were so wrapped up in a conversation with your dance partner that you hadn’t noticed how close you had gotten to each other.
In a boost of confidence, you wrapped your arms fully around Alex’s neck and rested your head against his shoulder. You realized just how nice and warm it felt to be pressed against him like this, like everyone else was. Your actions took him by surprise, you could feel it in the way his shoulders tensed, but it was only a few seconds before his arms were winding their way around your waist.
Even after the slow song ended and everyone returned to their awkward jumps and whatever other stupid dance moves they felt appropriate, you and Alex stayed intertwined, taking in and reveling in the warmth you were giving each other. It was something you hadn’t experienced with Danny.
“Would it be too much for me to drive you home? Or take you to Rosie’s after this is over?” Alex asked, his breath sending heat across your skin.
“No. That’d be really nice actually. I’m kind of hungry and the food here isn’t doing it for me,” you replied, laughing quietly.
The platinum blonde convinced you to bail early and spent the remainder of the time sitting in a booth at the best diner in town, sharing a milkshake and munching on fresh french fries. It was nice to get out of that stuffy gymnasium and into a setting where you felt comfortable and at ease.
Alex took you home afterwards, talking about some project in Communications class he was working on. You listened intently, genuinely interested by what he was doing in school. When he pulled up to your house, he parked the car and, like the nice person he really was, walked you up to your front door.
“Thank for making this night nice, [Name],” he said, standing on the top step. “I would have had a pretty bad time if you hadn’t agreed to dance with me.”
You let out a muted laugh, your breath falling out in billows of steam, a sure sign that winter really was here. “No problem. It would have been a lame night if you hadn’t sat next to me.”
You yawned and Alex smiled, a gesture nearly unnoticeable in the dim light of your front porch. Before he could wish you goodnight and turn to leave, you quickly pressed a kiss to his forehead. It elicited a blush on his pale skin and a nervous smile to overtake his tiny one.
“I’ll see you at school on Monday,” you said, turning to open your front door.
are there any like scholarships for trans or nb kids. college be hella expensive :(
oh boy, do I have scholarships for you. I’m going to include ones for queer people as well, since they tend to get grouped together lol
I’m a high school junior so I’m scouting early, so here we go~
Pride Foundation- this one is a list of scholarships, and it includes career specific ones as well as broader LGBTQ+ ones. there’s only one application which streamlines the process quite a bit.
FinAid- this one is again just a list of scholarships, but there’s a specific list of regional ones as well as college-specific ones, which could maybe help narrow down decisions.
HRC- this is a list of scholarships by state, which I know can be frustrating if you don’t live in a state with a lot of q/t resources. But it’s worth a try!
CollegeScholarships - not as great of a list as the others, but you could maybe still find something!
Point Foundation- so I actually know one of the people who received this scholarship and I know Emery does too. This is a great scholarship and gives you a lot of money - however, it’s pretty competitive. I also think the deadline for 2015 apps might be over, but it’s always a shot for 2016! it’s also a higher ed app as well, so you don’t have to be a high school senior to apply (I think the above ones are mainly for seniors.)
ten easy steps to formulate a strong scholarship essay
as i enter into my first year of graduate school, i figured it was finally time to tap into all this free internet money folks kept saying exists. writing essays is easy, right? we do it all the time in academic settings, why not try to get paid for it…??
before you get to writing it’s important to actually find some scholarships. here’s an excellently organized post by @jesussbabymomma that covers multiple databases. got some? great. let’s get to work.
>> the way i organize a scholarship essay is breaking it down to individual tasks [makes the whole situation far less daunting]; i top each task list with the scholarship name and the due date <<
1. the easiest way to start is to specify the requirements of your scholarship essay. go straight to the source, copy-paste the directions, write them down, put em somewhere you can continually look back on. is it a personal statement? are they expecting you to present knowledge on a certain subject? do they just want you to talk about how worthy you are of free money? asking your educated opinion on a topical issue? whatever it is, know it in and out. the actual worst thing is putting hella time into a scholarship essay only to realize you misunderstood the directions.
2. if this essay requires you to write expertly on something you know nothing about, gather your sources. tap into those databases you’ve used for research papers in academia [or google scholar is always a great free resource]. hone in on that subject and get to searching.
3. as you find usable sources, begin to create an essay outline. mine tend to be pretty lengthy and detailed.. by all means use an outline style that fits your needs. there’s a few different components to this step; i handle this pretty much the same way i would a regular research paper..
solidify your argument; (if there is an argument you need to make); i’ve found delving into my new-found sources helps me sort of figure out my stance along the way. look at all sides of the issue, bring them up in your essay, impress them with your ability to think critically. you got it, superstar.
consolidate sources; i will often paste links right in my outline. i then copy the specific quotes from the source and place them exactly where i want to use them in my argument. this helps so i don’t have to go fishing later.
gain understanding of the content; it’s.. it’s pretty important to know what it is you’re writing about.
4. after your outline is created, take a detour and write the works cited [bibliography, reference page, get-out-of-plagiarism-free card]; you certainly don’t have to do this step here.. i know some people like to wait until the end. i just think it’s good to get out of my head a little bit… put the critical-argument-creating/ stream-of-consciousness-writing on hold and do some good old-fashioned citing.
5. at this point you’re likely ready to begin the first draft. which in my case is essentially is taking the bullet points out of my outline and changing the font to something that may even look like it’s work the thousands of dollars i’m hoping to receive.
6. if you’re anything like me, this next step is the hardest.. proofread && DEDUCE. we’ve developed this amazing skill of cranking out ten-page papers… but now we’re being asked to operate within a 500-1000 word parameter. (sometimes less?!? like some have 140 characters yeah uhm okay). here i take out any extraneous adjectives and run-on sentences. i blame the lack of brevity on my degree in the humanities sector.
7. once you get sick of reading your own work, find friends to edit. peer reviewing is certainly worth the shot at deduced tuition. when i’m crunched for time, this is the step i skip.. but i always feel more comfortable submitting something i wrote that a few others have looked over as well.
8. next, take the time to research the scholarship organization. for schmoozing purposes. this can happen earlier in the process too.. don’t ask me why i decide to see where the organization’s principles lie until after i’ve written the paper.. i take this time to learn a bit about who i’m asking money from, and make a few tweaks to the essay if i need to.
9. almost done!! final proofread aloud. this really helps with cutting down on word count, and just ensuring the whole thing moves smoothly. i’m always pleasantly surprised how much better my essay flows after i read it out loud.
10. once you feel confident in your paper, send it off! my final step is submit & schedule a time to check back. sometimes organizations will post on the scholarship site which day they make their decision. make a note to come back that particular day to see the results! hopefully, you’ll get an exciting congratulatory email beforehand.. but it doesn’t hurt to be sure.
try these out, let me know if they work for you! now get out there and make that moneyyyy :}
I wander around the musical festival trying to pass the time. I’m here for one person and one person only… Jay Park. Yes, there are over a hundred artists playing today but I only want to see him perform. Plus I don’t know any of the other artists here, so there’s that.
I’ve been a fan of Jay’s since his 2PM days, long before AOMG was a thought. While Jay was my bias then I like the Jay of today a thousand times better. He’s more of an individual, his name is know in both Korea and in the States because he has gotten so successful.
So the fact
that Bitty went from a no contact co ed high school team to the first line of
an NCAA team is amazing. Like, despite his checking fear, Bitty must be good. So like, how good would he be if
he went through the system rather than figure skating? Mostly this is my really
complicated au to get Bitty to the NHL. Also I love the idea that Bitty is just
really good at hockey, okay?
Okay so after pewee football didn’t
work out, in say third grade, Bitty decides he wants to do figure skating. But
Coach is hesitant. Like really hesitant. So he encourages him to join a mite
hockey team (8 and under), because it doesn’t allow checking, unlike pewee
football, which allows tackling by the third grade in the South, in my
experience. Eric tries it out, and it’s certainly not figure skating, it is a
lot better than football, and when he tells Coach, he is practically thrilled.
But obviously, Eric is pretty good.
By the next year, when he gets to ages 9-10, he plays at level AAA. He’s fast,
he’s good with the puck, and good at reading the other players on his team. He’s
very popular. They call him Bitty, because, honestly, it’s a pretty obvious
nickname, and I imagine that Eric’s always been on the small side. He bakes
pies for the team with his mom and everything’s pretty good. He doesn’t have figure skating to express
himself like he did in canon, and obviously hockey is very hyper-masculine, even
at a young age I’d imagine, so that’s hard for him.
As he gets older, he gets teased a little bit,
both on the team and in school, about his size, about his baking, etc., but he
has enough friends on the team that it doesn’t become a huge issue, and after
all, he is a really good hockey player. He never gets locked in a closet. Coach
does catch some boys from his team calling him a f*g, and that is what sparks
the move to Madison. He knows his boy is pretty damn good at hockey, and if
Junior wants to really get somewhere, gay rumors aren’t going to help. Plus,
he’d gotten a really great job offer there, so it’s a win-win.
Bitty finds a new hockey team and
things are good. Pretty great, honestly. He loves hockey, surprisingly enough, even
though the fact that there is checking now makes him seriously uncomfortable. Fortunately,
he’s fast enough that it doesn’t happen often. The first time it happens,
though, he passes out. It happens again the second time. The third time, his
parents get into a huge fight about it, but his mother wins and she takes him
to therapy, where he is diagnosed with PTSD. His therapist and his coaches help
him a lot, and he learns to deal with the checking. He is also diagnosed with
ADHD, which neither his mother nor Coach really understand, but his medication
does seem to help him a lot, especially in school, so they are okay with it,
even if they don’t talk about it.
After Bitty is comfortable with his therapist,
he admits that his thinks he is gay, and to his relief, she is very
understanding, and helps him through it. He doesn’t get drafted in the USHL’s
draft in the May after his sixteenth birthday, and he is heartbroken (I know
that his birthday is the fifth and the draft is on the first week, but maybe it
works. Idk pretend it does lol.)
He steps up his practicing, working harder
than ever that year as captain of his team. When the junior year roles around,
he is drafted by the Chicago Steel. He is thrilled. And terrified. Bitty has
never, ever been that far from home. His mama tries to talk him out of leaving.
“Dicky, why can’t you just wait a year for college if you are so eager to
leave?” But this is his chance. His chance to leave Georgia, maybe find
somewhere more accepting, get a hockey scholarship (because that was the deal
he made with his parents, going into Juniors means he has to go to college for
at least four years before going into the NHL), play in the NCAA, and then
maybe even the NHL. Which at this point, it was pretty obvious he was at least
going to make the AHL, even if he never cracked the NHL roster. (ok so bear
with me. I’ve done some reading on the USHL and the NCAA, but tbh I still am
not sure exactly how it works, so I’m playing fast and loose with the rules
Ok so Bitty starts playing with as
a Steel in the fall of his senior year. He gets scouted by a bunch of NCAA
teams, as well as a few NHL teams. Eric eventually decides on Samwell (pretty
quickly actually), because they have Jack Zimmermann, 1 in 4, the amazing
scholarship, and the fact that Samwell is significantly closer to Georgia than
Chicago. So flash forward the rest of that season/school year to his first day
as a Samwell Wellie.
So like, as far as we know
according to canon, no one in Bitty’s year was scouted from a USHL or a
Canadian Juniors team, so rather than being the small underdog third-liner he
is in canon, Bitty is probably a pretty big deal. After all, the only other two
people on the SMH who played Junior Hockey is Jack and Holster, and both are
two of the SMH’s best players.
Okay, so Bitty knows he’s good.
Obviously, he does. But know, for some reason, he is still really nervous about
coming to play for Samwell. Jack Zimmermann’s team, lord. And this isn’t just
his team, this is his school and he really wants to fit in, darn it. But he’s
not too worried. He’s had plenty of
practice bro-ing it up over the years. And hey, bringing, like, one pecan pie
to the first skate isn’t trying too hard is it? (He doesn’t do his vlog like in
canon, but he is pretty well known on Twitter for both hockey and baking.)
He totally thought he would be
prepared for this. For goodness sakes, he’s been around hockey bros since he
was eight! But good lord, this is a whole new level of weird! First of all,
what kind of nickname is ‘Shitty’? And for heaven’s sake, how dare Jack tell him to ‘eat more protein.’?
He has been playing hockey and cooking
long enough to know how to feed himself, thank you very much, Mr. Zimmermann. And
the things they did to his pie, good lord.
Bitty starts preseason practices
playing on the first line with Jack, and it honestly the most fun he’s ever had
in his life. Playing with Jack is absolutely amazing, despite the fact that he
seems to annoy the heck out of Jack.
Okay, so even though Bitty isn’t
scared of checking like he is in canon, he still gets on Jack’s nerves. Mostly
because, at first, Bitty reminds him of Parse. And it’s not just that they’re
both small, fast, blonde skaters; it’s the fact that Bitty is the probably the
only other player on the SMH team that has a chance at making it big in the
NHL, and being on his line, just reminds him of being on a line with Parse and
his endless ambition.
But. Then he gets to know Bitty. He
realizes that Bitty is nothing like Parse. Parse has always been the only other
person Jack’s ever met who is as driven as himself, and Bitty is different. It’s
not that Bitty isn’t driven. They practice together twice a week at five in the
morning, in fact, by Bitty’s request. But he is kinder, warmer, and far more
compassionate then Parse ever was. And he doesn’t seem to think of Jack as competition,
but just as a friend and teammate.
Alright, so most of the rest of
this first year is the same as in canon. Bitty doesn’t come out to his friends until
the end of fall semester, and of course, it goes fine. Then comes Yale. Bitty
gets a concussion, and while he was expected to be drafted high in the first
round of the 2016 draft, the concussion, however minor, throws a wrench into
those plans. He ends up going 56th over all to the Providence Falconers.
Which is actually pretty great, because it’s even closer to Georgia than
Samwell, but still far enough north that, well, he won’t have to go back down
south after graduation. Plus, their AHL team (which I am 100% making up and I know nothing about the east coast so, sorry) is the
Hartford Eagles, so that’s not far either.
After that, I have no idea. Does
Bitty ever play for Team USA in the World Juniors? I don’t know; you tell me
lol. I guess for the most part everything happens the same way. Jack signs to
the Falconers next year (which yeah, starts some rumors, but that’s a fic for
another time. I could have saved the angst and have Bitty been drafted by the
Bruins, but like, hell no.) Jack and Bitty get together at the end of Bitty’s sophomore
year, and pretty much everything follows canon until Bitty graduates, at which
point he ends up in Hartford for a couple years, which is hard for him and Jack
being and hour and a half away, but they are honestly both so busy that the
extra distance doesn’t effect them that much.
By the start of the 2019-2020
season, Bitty is on the Falconers 3rd line. By the end of the
season, he and Jack are on the first line together, leading the Falconers to
their second Stanley Cup Championship. They come out as a couple together,
shortly after that. And yeah, there is a lot of shit to put up with from the
media, the fans, and other players, but there is also a lot of support. And
they have each other. The both play for the Falconers for the entirety of their
careers and live happily ever after with their Cup rings, a dog, and maybe even
a kid once they retire. The end. Please someone write an actual fic of this lol.
Like seriously. I would love to see someone explore how this would effect Bitty
emotionally. Also World Juniors. Like. C’mon.
Summary:Baron is going to dinner with you and your parents, it will also be the first time your parents have met Baron. He’s extremely nervous at your house before the two of you leave, but you assure him he has nothing to worry about. * * * * You were standing in the bathroom of your apartment getting ready. You had butterflies in your stomach the size of Texas. Tonight you were having dinner with your parents and your boyfriend, Baron, so they could meet.
You met Baron when you started working as a backstage interviewer at WWE’s developmental brand, NXT, where Baron was wrestling at the time. You were a little intimidated by him at first, you being 5'4" and him being 6'8". But after hanging out with him after a show one night with a group of other people from work the two of you hit it off right away. The two of you started having more and more conversations, and you were the only one who could get really great interviews and promos out of Baron.
After a few months your friendship turned to more when Baron confessed his feelings to you. You had officially been together six months and you couldn’t be happier. This was the next big step the two of you had to take.
You had just finished applying your make up when you heard the front door open.
“Babe?” You heard him call out from the living room.
“In the bedroom.” You yelled back.
Thirty seconds later you saw his large frame smiling at you in the reflection as he leaned against the doorframe of your bathroom. You looked at and smiled. His hair was slicked back, and you noticed that his facial hair was freshly trimmed. He was wearing a dark gray plaid suit with a white button up shirt on underneath. It was the first time you had ever seen him in a suit.
“What? Is it too much?” He asked as he took in your expression.
“No. No, you look great. I’ve just never seen you in a suit before.” You said.
“I wanted to make a good impression.” He said.
“Baron, they’re going to love you.” You said.
“I’m a 6'8” professional wrestler with tattoos who rides motorcycles and likes rock music. I’m sure I’m exactly what your parents pictured in a boyfriend for you.“ He said sarcastically.
"Baron, I love you for who you are. That’s why my parents are going to love you too.” You said.
You turned around and walked over to him and wrapped your arms around his torso and tipped your head back so you could look up at him.
“What if they don’t like me, though?” He asked.
“They’ll love you.” You said.
“But what if-”
“Then nothing changes. I’m still going to love you, Baron. Nothing can change that.” You said.
“Promise?” He asked as his dark eyes looked into yours.
“I promise. No matter what they think, I’m not going anywhere.” You said.
“Good. I don’t want to lose you.” He said softly before he leaned down and pressed his lips to yours.
He pulled away from the kiss and then looked down at his watch
“You ready? We should probably head out.” He said.
“Yeah, I just need to grab my purse.” You said.
You locked the door of your apartment and you and Baron made your way to the parking lot.
“My car or yours?” Baron asked.
“We can take mine.” You said.
“You want me to drive?” Baron asked.
“Sure.” You said as you tossed the keys to him and slid into the passenger seat.
The drive from your apartment to the restaurant was quiet. The radio played quietly in the background, but that was the only noise to be heard in the car. You could see Baron was nervous by how hard he was gripping the steering wheel.
“Baron, you don’t have anything to be nervous about.” You said for what felt like the hundredth time as you reached over and took his hand in yours intertwining your fingers together.
He gave your hand a gentle squeeze before sighing and glancing over at you.
“I’m just worried I’m not going to be good enough for them.” He said. “You mean so much to me, Y/n. I’m just afraid that if they don’t like me they’ll try to get you to break up with me or something.”
“It’s going to be fine. Just think positive.” You said.
He nodded and let out a sigh as he pulled up in front of the restaurant. He turned the car off and the two of you step out. You smiled when you saw your parents’ car pull into the parking spot next to yours.
“It’s so good to see you again, sweetheart!” Your mom said as she stepped out of the car and pulled you in for a hug.
“He’s cute!” She whispered in your ear before pulling away.
“Mom, this is Baron. Baron, this is my mom, Y/mom/n.”
“Nice to meet you Mrs. Y/last/n.” Baron said as he extended his hand to her.
“Oh, there’s no need for any of that Mrs. Stuff. Please call me, Y/mom/n.” She said.
“Yes ma’am.” Baron said nodding to her.
“There’s my little girl.” Your dad said as he walked around the car and held an arm out to you. You smiled and took a step closer to him and gave him a side hug.
“Dad, this is my boyfriend, Baron. Baron, this is my dad, Y/dad/n.” You said.
“It’s nice to meet you, sir.” Baron said as he held his hand out to your father. Your dad looked at Baron for a moment before reaching out and cautiously taking his hand.
“It’s nice to finally meet the girl that Y/n is always talking about.” Your dad said as he looked from Baron to you.
“Should we go in?” Your mom suggested.
The four of you walked into the restaurant and it was packed. The hostess told you that it was going to be at least a forty-five minute wait for a table.
“We actually have reservations under Corbin.” Baron said.
Both you and your mom looked at Baron with confused looks. Baron didn’t mention anything about getting a reservation.
“Yes, I have a table ready for you. Please follow me!” The hostess said as she grabbed four menus from the podium and led you through the restaurant to a table towards the back.
“Ladies first.” Baron said as he motioned for you to slide into the booth first. You slid into the booth before Baron slid in next to you. Your mom slid in across from you and your dad sat across from Baron.
“I can’t believe you got us in here. This place is packed!” Your mom said.
“I heard this place can have a long wait time so I made sure to call and assure we got a table.” Baron said.
Your waitress came over and brought all of you water glasses and then took your drink order.
“So Baron, Y/n tells me she met you at work…” your dad says.
“Yes sir.” Baron said as he glanced over at you with a small smile.
“So you’re still getting the hang of the whole wrestling thing down in developmental then?” He asked.
“Actually, I’ve been called up to the main roster. I’m on the SmackDown brand now.” Baron said.
“Congratulations. I’ll have to tune in sometime.” Your dad said.
“So do you just wrestle on SmackDown or are you on the road too?” Your mom asked.
“I’m on the road right now.” Baron said.
“How many days are you on the road?” Your dad asked.
“I believe I’m booked to be on the road around 300 days this year.” Baron said.
“That doesn’t give you much time at home with your family then, does it?” Your dad asked before looking at you.
You felt Baron tense up next to you.
“Well it helps since we work together. We get to see each other more now that I’m a backstage interviewer on SmackDown.” You said.
“I suppose he had something to do with you getting the promotion?” Your dad asked as he looked at Baron.
“Not at all, sir. Y/n is very talented. She was the only one who could get me to break out of my shell. She’s earned her spot.” Baron said as he smiled over at you.
“So Y/n mentioned you’re into riding motorcycles…” your dad said.
“Yes sir.” Baron said.
“Two wheel death traps if you ask me.” Your dad scoffed.
You heard Baron swallow a lump in his throat before reaching for his glass of water and taking a drink.
You didn’t know how this night could go any worse. It was a disaster. And your dad wasn’t going easy on Baron at all. You could see a small layer of sweat starting to form on Baron’s forehead. You couldn’t remember the last time you had seen him this nervous.
“I suppose you ride with him?” Your dad asked as he looked over at you.
“Um…yes. But he bought me my own helmet and jacket. And he’s really careful when I’m with him.” You said.
Your dad simply nodded before turning his attention to the menu in his hands.
“Dear, I think I left my glasses in the car would you walk out there with me?” Your mom asked as she looked at your dad.
“I’d be happy to walk with you, Mrs. Y/last/n.” Baron said.
“Oh that’s okay, Baron. Y/dad/n can walk with me. That’s very nice of you to offer, though.” She said.
Once your parents were out of ear sight Baron turned to you.
“He hates me.” He said.
“He doesn’t hate you.” You said.
“He hasn’t smiled once the entire time. Every time I say anything he just nods. No emotion. No expression…” Baron said.
“He’s just really protective of me. I-I’ve…” You began to say before you stopped yourself.
“You what?” He asked.
“He’s seen me get hurt in the past. He’s seen me broken and crying. He’s very protective of me because of it.” You said.
“I’m not going to hurt you, you know that.” He said as he reached over and took your hand.
“I know that. But it might take time for my dad to see that.” You said.
“I’ll do whatever it takes to prove to him that I’m not like other guys.” He said.
“I know you will.” You said.
Baron reached up and cupped your cheek with his hand before he leaned in and gave you a quick kiss.
As you pulled away from the kiss your parents slid back into the booth.
“Found my glasses!” Your mom said with a smile.
“Great!” You said.
The waitress then came back to take your food order. You all gave her your order and she left to give it to the kitchen.
“So Baron did you got to college or did you just jump into the wrestling thing?” Your dad asked.
“Yes, sir. I graduated from Northwest Missouri State.” Baron said.
“Bearcat, huh?” Your dad asked.
“Yes sir.” Baron said.
“You join some good alumni. I’m a Bearcat myself. Class of 86.” Your dad said with a smile. It was the first time he had smiled during the dinner.
“You play football?” Your dad asked.
“Yes sir, all four years. I played on a football scholarship and actually was pro for a very short time.” Baron said.
“What position?” Your dad asked.
“Lineman.” Baron said.
“You’d be a good lineman. You’re built like a lineman.” Your dad said.
It seemed like the football conversation finally broke the ice between Baron and your dad. The rest of the dinner went quite smoothly. You were surprised when Baron and your dad spent twenty minutes talking about different rock bands they had seen perform live. You had no idea your dad had been a concert goer when he was younger.
The waitress brought the check to your table. Your dad and Baron both reached for the black folder.
“I’ve got it.” Your dad said.
“I insist sir.” Baron said.
“It’s okay. Y/mom/n and I will take care of it. We invited you out, you’re our guest.” Your dad said.
“With all do respect sir, I’d like to pay for the meal.” Baron said.
Your dad and Baron went back and forth for a few more minutes before your dad finally gave in with a sigh and let Baron pick up the bill.
You and your mom were standing near your car talking when you overheard your dad talking to Baron.
“You’re not a bad kid, Baron.” Your dad said.
“I might not be what you pictured for your daughter, but I promise you that she means the world to me.” He said.
“I know. I can see it. You want to know why I was so hard on you? You remind me of a younger version of myself. That girl is my whole world. She’s my princess. And I just want her to find someone that makes her happy.” Your dad said.
“You have my word that I will do everything I can to make her happy. I’m not perfect. I’m human. But I can tell you that I love her.” Baron said.
“I know. You look at her like I look at her mother, like she’s the sun your world revolves around. That’s all I’ve ever wanted for her.” Your dad said. “I’m sorry if I was hard on you. I just-“
“You don’t need to explain, sir. I understand. If she was my daughter I would do the same thing. I just want thank you for giving me a chance.” Baron said.
“Just promise me something, okay?” Your dad asked.
“Anything.” Baron said.
“Take care of her out there on the road for me. I worry about her being in such a violent profession around all those guys-” Your dad said.
“You have my word, sir.” Baron said as he stuck his hand out to your dad.
“Thank you. Welcome to the family, son.” Your dad said as he shook Baron’s hand and then put his free hand on Baron’s shoulder.
Authors Note: Hiiiiiii, this was a request given to me a few weeks back and it really stuck out to me when I was struggling for ideas so I hope you enjoy!
Request: Can you do an imagine based of “I don’t even know your name”!?
Damn she is beautiful. Beautiful is not even the right word to describe her. She is stunning, alluring, exquisite, and gorgeous all at the same time. Granted, those adjectives all generally mean the same thing, but this is different. She is different. Her beauty has a way of changing all of these words to describe attributes that extremely different than what they mean. I haven’t even uttered a ward to her yet and she is already captivating my mind. I have to meet her.
The crowded night club doesn’t make it very easy to meet her and her barrier of friends makes it practically impenetrable. I noticed her as soon as I walked by the bar. I think my friends have kept walking by now and not even noticed that I stopped to stare. What feels like minutes to me has been only seconds that I have been looking at her.
I can’t even comprehend that I am moving until I see her getting visibly closer to me. Of course I am the one that is moving toward her, even though my head is screaming at my feet to stop. Its like a magnetic force is drawing me in toward her. I can’t help it.
Oh shit. She sees me. We locked eyes. I quickly look to the ground but somehow I am still walking toward her. I can feel her eyes staring at me. I am still staring intently at my feet as I walk which is probably not the best thing to be doing in a crowded night club. I stare at the scuffed tops of my trusted shoes as I read closer to her. I stop and my breath hitches when I reach to a pair of dainty open toed shoes and some and maroon painted toenails. I slowly look up at the woman standing right in front of me. She is smiling and laughs lightly as our eyes finally meet.
“Hi.” She smiles.
“Hey.” I whisper. I tried to be smooth, but I’m obviously not. She looks at me as if she is waiting for what i will say next. I’m going to be honest, I’m scared out of my mind. “i’m Shawn.” I say. Nice start man.
“I know!” She laughs. She tucks a piece of hair behind her ear and looks quickly at the ground before returning her gaze to you.
“You do?” I ask. I’m honestly surprised. I know i’m in Toronto, but for some reason it never registered to me that my fans aren’t only 16 years old.
“Yeah, Shawn Mendes right?” She asks as she leans her back up against the back of the bar.
“Yeah thats me.” I laugh as I scratch the back of my neck, a nervous habit.
“I saw one of you shows few months ago with some of my girlfriends. You are very talented.” She says.
“Thank you. It means a lot to hear that.” I say. Why the fuck did I just say that?
“You know I have always wanted to meet you, to have a conversation.” She says.
“Well I’m here.” I say, “Can I buy you a drink?”
She lifts up the bottle of water in her hand and says, “I’m driving tonight, thank you though.”
“Of course.” I nod and I turn away I take one step to find my friends before a hand grabs my arm. It feels as if it burns and tingles at the same time and when I turn back around it is her hand that is placed on my arm.
She pulls her hand away and says, “Just because I don’t need you to buy me a drink, doesn’t mean I don’t want to talk to you!”
“Oh I’m sorry.” I say, “Do you still want to talk?”
“I was going to ask how it feels to be on stage.” She asks.
“It’s thrilling. It’s like nothing I have ever experienced before in my entire life. It is a confidence booster to stand in front of tens of thousands of people knowing that every single one of them is there to see you. It’s like a drug and you could say I’m addicted to it now. I’m currently on break and I want to be on stage more than anything.”
“Wow.” She says, “That must be amazing!”
“So what do you do?” I ask.
“I’m training to be a nurse at the Toronto General Hospital.” She says as she takes a sip of her water bottle.
“Oh really?” I ask.
“Yeah, I actually grew up in the states but I got a scholarship to go to University of Toronto and I ended up here.” She says, “I love it more than anything”
“I’m glad!” I say, “Toronto is a pretty great place.”
“Yeah, the people I have met are so different than the people in the states.” She laughs.
“What do you mean?” I laugh.
“Well everyone is just generally nicer here.” She says, “I don’t even know how to explain it. I got lucky because most of my best friends from college ended up getting accepted into the same hospital as I did and I share an apartment with one of them. I’m a junior at U of T.”
“Oh cool.” I say.
“Yeah…” She nods. “You are very handsome.”
“I’m sorry?” I ask. She thinks I’m hot?
“Sorry, I’m doing this new thing that I try to be as up front with everything as I can and right now I just did it even though I totally didn’t mean to and I-”
“No its okay!” I laugh, “I was going to say the same thing to you.”
“You were? Oh thank God!” She sighs.
“Do you want to get dinner sometime? I’m in town for a few more weeks.” I say.
“Yeah I would really love that.” She smiles as she tucks her hair behind her ear.
“You know I don’t think I ever caught your name.” I say
“Oh yeah I’m-” She begins but two of her friends pull her away to the dance floor before I can hear her. Before I can even get her number. I spend the rest of the night looking for her. I scan the crowds countless times before my buddies and I decide its time to just let it go.
I feel like I see her all the time. I see her in restaurants and stores. I don’t actually see her though. It is just my subconscious telling me to see her because I am constantly thinking of her. I can’t stop actually.
After about a week and a half of struggling to remember this girl I decide to sit down with my guitar and try to put my thoughts to paper. At the top of the sheet I write ‘I don’t even know your name’ and I begin to pour out my feelings to music.
Oh, you waited so long Sometimes, it’s hard to stand out And you, don’t have to do anything else But be yourself
clubs: cooking club, pianist in the university’s orchestra
people have always told him that he is charming and attracts others so when he was in high school everyone told him to be a hospitality major and basically work in a hotel or a restaurant because his positive personality would be sure to make it a success
he plans to open up a restaurant when he graduates and he’s always seen hanging around the culinary majors trying to see if anyone is good enough for him to want to partner up with after graduation, but he hasn’t found someone yet and he gets bummed about it a lot
bambam is always like “youngjae, let me be your chef. my mom owns restaurants. i was born read-” and jb’s like “bambam you’ve set the communal kitchen on fire literally 4 times this semester and it’s only been 2 weeks into classes.”
youngjae took up advertising too just because he wanted to be able to learn about it for future reference and he’s so cute because now he makes lil advertisements for the cooking club he joined and it’s like little clipart of dancing pots and pans and youngjae thinks it’s the funniest thing ever and no one has the heart to tell him it’s kinda corny because he looks so giddy putting up the ads,,,,he’s an angel
speaking of cooking club youngjae’s in it and he’s always trying hard but for some reason his dishes always end up burnt or undercooked and the teachers like,,,,,well the effort counts
and youngjae frowns and literally in that moment it begins to rain, the sun disappears and everyone is put into a horrible mood
jackson is usually called in to make youngjae laugh again and then peace is restored.
as long as youngjae is smiling = the sun in shining and everyone’s passing their classes
he’s also the pianist for the schools orchestra and he performs a lot with them and he actually gets to pay for his tuition through a scholarship he got through his piano playing
he looks extra cool on stage and it’s the only time people see him wearing a suit ,, other than that he always looks extra comfy and wears those big hats and it’s so cute
everyone on campus including teachers love him and know him on a first name basis and whenever he’s in a group chat to study he sends pics of dogs. he’s that kinda person
youngjae everyday: “jb let’s get a dog for the dorm.” jb; “does jackson not count?” jackson: “FIRST OF ALL HOW DARE YOU also it’s against the rules to have animals in the dorms im sorry youngjae”
you get to know youngjae thanks to cooking club because you’re in it too and let’s just say you and youngjae have been partners a couple of times and it’s always a Disaster
not you guys but the food
like you both tried to follow the recipe to make some lemon pie but what came out of that oven was ……a lemon nightmare
and youngjae is always smiling while he cooks and he’s always singing to himself and you notice that he has this adorably small mole beneath his eye
and basically he’s your cooking club crush and you’d only be half lying if you said you still go to the club just to spend time with him LOL
but like that’s all it is a one-sided crush even though fellow cooking club member nayeon is like “you and youngjae look so cute together!!!!” and you’re like whAT n o,,,,,,,,,,no please dont say that outloud he might hEAR you
but of course youngjae has noticed you too, the cute way you line up all your utensils before you start cooking and the way you always give him a cheer when he goes up to the teacher to get his food evaluated like
he knows you’re there and he’s endeared by your little quirks and your cute smile but god he has no idea how to express it???
like he goes back to the dorms and he’s like “jb,,,,,,,how do i become,,,,,nice,,,,,,” and jb is like ur the nicest person i know and youngjae is like “nononono nicer too,,,,someone specific,,,,,like extra nice,,,,,,,,,super nice,,,,,,aggressively being nice intensifies???”
jb looking at youngjae from across the room like what the hell are you saying and youngjae just shouts and flops down onto his bed like FORgeT i t
and for the longest time basically you and youngjae refuse to act on how you feel because like you guys have a nice friendship going and it’s all sweet and neither of you wants to ruin it
until youngjae finally spills his crush on you to jackson and you spill your crush to nayeon and well nayeon and jackson are friends and BOY thEY have a P L A n
and like as it’s nearing break nayeon is like heY the dance majors are going to throw a party and you’re like ??/ ok cool but im not a danc- and she’s like “you’re invited, momo told me to bring a friend so im bringing you!!!1 see you there” and you’re like “wh-” but nayeon has already skipped away and you’re like,,,,,why do i have a weird vibe about this
and across campus jackson backflips up to youngjae and is like “me and the dance majors are throwing a party so you have to come.” and youngjae’s like jackson you know parties aren’t like my thing- and jacksons like there’s gonna be free food and youngjae is like you now im in see u there
and you can probably see where im going with this but basically nayeon and jackson meet up and snicker like little kids because ok good you guys will meet at the party and true love sparks will F L Y (a pun, i know
but tbh @ the party you’re standing awkwardly in a corner with some drinks while the entirety of the dance practice room gets trashed and all the dance majors are grinding on each other and you’re like Oh Why Did I Agree To This,,,,,,
but then you see someone familiar and you’re like ??? is that youngjae and he sees you two and like you’re both the only ones not ,,,,,,, getting it on and the only ones who actually are holding drinks like two very confused freshman or something so
its only natural that he gravitates toward you and you’re like hey and he’s like hi!! and laughs like “i take it, you’re not a dance major either?” and you shrug and point to jackson who just did like a split and you’re like “im definitely not if that’s what dance majors can do…”
you make youngjae laugh but then it gets a little awkward and silent and youngjae’s like,,,,,,,,,, “hey do you want to….leave?” and you’re like “yeah kinda,,,,,why?” and he grins and is like “we need to escape now while jackson is distracted!!! otherwise he’ll pull out the aegyo to make us stay so c’mon!!”
youngjae puts down his drink and carefully wraps his hand around your wrist and tugs you through the strings of people until you guys are out of the building and the coast is clear and you’re like
“being outside is much better” and youngjae’s like “i know how you feel” and like neither of you really know what to say because it’s like midnight and you guys just ditched a party and you want to be like weLL i guess ill go back to my dorm but youngjae’s like
“since we have nothing else to do, do you want to come down to the orchestra room with me? i wanted to get some of my music notes - it’s ok if that’s weird to ask haha”
and you can see him getting nervous, hiding the little tremor in his hand by scratching his neck and you bite your lip because you’re excited that he’s invited you
and this is just so pure the first time you two get to be alone and you’re both flustered but you nod and tell him you’d be happy to tag along
once you guys get there though youngjae cant find his notes and you guys spend like an hour looking through the rows and through the sheets of music and youngjae seems so defeated when you cant find them so you’re like !!! i need to cheer him up so you ask quietly if he could play you something
and youngjae’s like haha im not that good though!!! and you’re like boy are you playing games youre in the schools damn orchestra and like
you see that he’s actually really humble and doesn’t think much of his talent and it kind of pierces your heart because here you are knowing how great of a person he is,,,,but he cant see it
but youngjae like takes a seat at the piano and you can’t help but admire how good he looks and how long his fingers are and as he begins to play its like a spell ?? the music is so beautiful it enchants you
and youngjae looks over nervously to see your reaction but all he sees is you with your eyes closed, smiling and swaying to the melody and in that moment youngjae swears he’s never seen anyone more stunning
and he stops playing and you open your eyes and slowly he gets up and comes over and you’re like “youngj-” but he just leans down and tilts your chin and against your skin he’s like
“im sorry, but i think this is going to be my only chance to do this-” and he kisses you ever so gently, like a soft sweet peck and you can barely breath let alone react
and youngjae immediately bursts into a loud apology and like pulls his hat off to hide behind it and you’re like at a loss for words and he’s like i better get going and before you can stop him he’s running out of the room and you’re like
shocked but also you’re like i need to run after him but once you get outside you don’t know where he went and you’re not sure if you should feel hurt or surprised or happy all of the above like ?!!??!?!?! what is this some drama whyd he jsut do that
and youngjae whose like hiding behind the campus library is like beating himself up about it and he’s like whY didn’t i j U s t see it through why god
and he thinks its the end like you’ll just avoid him from now on because like he just kissed you out of the blue like who wouldnt think that’s weird
but the next day as he’s sitting next to jb on the quad going over his tourism class project you tap him on the shoulder and as he turns around you lean in and kiss him
and it’s so surprising his damn hat falls off and jb drops the book he’s holding and everyone on campus turns to face you two
and youngjae is like ???? when you pull back and you’re like “n-now we’re even…..” and he gets up and he’s like “i dont want to be even” and you’re like excuse me and he like puts his hands on your shoulders and pulls you in to kiss you
and then you’re like “wait what now i have to kiss you to be even” and youngjae’s like ok kiss me again and so you do and it takes you a bit but you’re like
oh my god wait are you just going to keep kissing me so i keep kissing you and youngjae’s like yes that was the plan
and jb is sitting there looking at you two like jesus h christ and you and youngjae burst out into giggles
and jb is like “i think this is the part where you guys decide you’re going to date?” and you and youngjae are like sure!!! that sounds fun then we have even more excuses to kiss each other
and you and youngjae, no matter how much he hasnt shown in off before, are sosososososososo mushy for each other
like now that you’re an official thing you guys hold hands in cooking club and feed each other from the same spoon and literally make everyone in the club wish they were in a relationship
and like its kinda cheesy but you’ll be like “youngjae, you make me so happy……are you a magician?” and he’ll like fall to the floor laughing because your jokes - no matter how much they make other people roll their eyes - always make him so happy and he’ll lean in and like give you an eskimo kiss after he’s done laughing and be like “maybe i am!!!! or maybe im a doctor because i can tell my heart beats only for you~~~”
like it’s cringy to others but you guys are in your own love bubble and its cute you deserve to love and support each other
you try to help youngjae plan for his future restaurant and when he talks about it you can tell he’s got passion and just smile and listen to him and watch him and when he’s done he’ll apologize for boring you but you’re like i could never be bored listening to you,,,,,,,,
jackson and nayeon hear the news that you two are dating and they’re like THE PLAn WORKED and you and youngjae are like ???? the plan ???/
and jackson is like nothing i said nothing nayeon did you say anything no i dont think you did anyway i have to go- and youngjae chases jackson like twice around campus until he collapses and you have to help him up
but nayeon is just like “yeah we invited you to the party to set you two up” and you’re like what and nayeon is like you and youngjae at a dance majors party basically meant you’d have no choice but to talk and well ,,,,, now we’re here and that talk turned into true love
and you’re like nayeon i hate you (but i love you so much thank you for this) nayeon: (^:
you and youngjae are cuddling like all the time and its the kind of cuddling where you’re facing each other and youngjae can kiss the tip of your nose and you can kiss the little mole on his neck
when he practices the piano you sometimes will come over and just sit in the empty audience and do your work while listening to youngjae’s melody and its the most calming thing in the world
he’ll see you dozing off over your homework and purposely play a super loud chord and startle you and you’ll pout but he’ll be like do your work!!!
you love youngjae’s little posters he makes for the cooking club you keep a copy of all of them in a little scrapbook and when youngjae sees it his heart swells and he pulls you into his lap and kisses all over your face
and your relationship is literally just the two of you always encouraging what the other person wants to do
mark once described you and youngjae as being addicted to each other and literally it’s the truest thing. like you text each other when you cant see each other and you call just to hear youngjae’s laughter and he calls just to tell you he loves you and when you’re together you’re always touching in some way
and its just warm and fuzzy
one day during cooking club as you’re trying to flip the pancake in the pan, youngjae wraps his arms around you from behind and helps you out and ofc the whole room is like oooooooooooooo but feeling his breath on your neck and his hands around yours
when the club meeting is over you basically grab him and you’re like we need to find some empty room now
and well club just finished so ,,,,,,, the cooking club room is empty and to make things short you end up ontop of one of the counters and youngjae probably makes a joke about whipped cream
that is all i am saying
ok wait one more thing: youngjae’s hands are so gentle and like you remember back to that time when you saw him playing the piano and you’re like he’s good…..with his hand s o k ay moving on
whenever youngjae misses home you two go out for some late night seafood snacks and if you have time you go down to the beach to see the night sea
and youngjae wraps you up in his arms and tries to get his sweater to fit around the both of you and you giggle into his chest and he kisses your hair and it’s s o f t
youngjae keeps spamming the got7 group chat with pics of dog memes that you sent him and you get a text from bambam like “your boyfriend keeps sending us photos of puppies that he said he’s getting from you so im here to ask you to stop”
all you do in response is send more photos of puppies and youngjae calls you like “bambam said he’s never looking at another puppy again, you sent too many.” and you’re like good he deserves it and youngjae is like this is why i love you
you playfully try on the floppy hats youngjae owns and he’s like,,,,,,,,,you look so damn cute he takes photos and like creates a ‘i love my significant other in hats’ post on which jb comments: one of those is mine and youngjae is like; ill block anyone who wants to be negative about our love LOLOL
apparently youngjae’s an avid gamer and sometimes you’ll see him hunched over his computer and you’re like hehe cute but all you have to do to distract him is literally sit in his lap and youngjae is like im logging off bye i have more important things to do
like watch ‘secret life of pets’ with you while you eat ice cream out of the same tub with the same spoon
you and youngjae crying at the pet store over cute puppies together
you comparing youngjae’s smile to the sun and to the flowers and to gold and he tells you to stop while laughing and you just tell him you can’t ,,,,, his smile is everything to you and that just makes him fall for you more
whenever you two are apart, youngjae sends you the same message; “you should be here with me.”
you guys singing along to your favorite song at group karaoke and making it into a duet and the rest of got7 is making gagging noises but jb is like snapping his fingers for them to stop because seeing youngjae this happy to be with you is a blessing and all of got7 should appreciate it lmfao
it’s his birthday, so i decided to post this ~<3 lovely youngjae! hope your birthday was bright and fun!
Omg! My sons’ school district is now offering a free associate’s degree if you stick out an extra year of high school!!!!
That means TWO YEARS OF FREE COLLEGE. Which means that the meager amounts of money I’ve been able to save (and will continue to save), and some pell grant money and whatever scholarships they’ll get, might actually be enough to see them through!!!!
It’s been a very long time since I wrote something new with a comedy slant, so I decided to give it a shot again. Also, I’ve been wanting to write something with Clownpiece in it ever since VFiS started, so here it is.
A case study by Patchouli, documenting a normal day for a group of
fairies: After learning that Clownpiece has never seen candy before, the
Fairies of Light decide to rob a candy shop.
If you squint really hard, you can tell that Star is my favorite member of the Fairies of Light.
Cirno is there too.
If you thought Renko was a sarcastic asshole of a narrator, let me introduce you to: Patchouli Knowledge.
As promised, some kind of shitty fairy version of Ocean’s Eleven.
Remember when I talked about how I’d gotten a story idea so dumb that only one other person would think it was a good idea? This is it. The idea was framing a story as a thesis paper by Patchouli, so you get about 500 words of her ranting about the sorry state of modern scholarship before the story itself actually starts.
“How do I look?” Jyn asked, stepping out of the door onto the back porch. She didn’t stop to think about why she was asking for Cassian’s opinion. When he wasn’t away on assignment, he could normally be found on the back porch that stretched across both sides of the duplex.
“Good.” The warmth in his voice made the word sound more positive than it was - the lovely smile he gave her had the same effect.
“Thanks,” she said, smiling back. “Um.” Her purpose obtained, she suddenly felt the awkwardness of the situation. “Have a good evening,” she offered weakly. She suddenly wished she was staying here, on the back porch with him, like she normally did. But everyone in her life - her parents, Leia and Han, Bodhi - were urging her to ‘get out there’ and ‘not hide away in your house with no furniture, God, Jyn, you make me look good’ (“Thanks, Han,” she had said, no real thanks in her voice).
“Good luck,” he said, lifting his mug of coffee to her in a kind of salute.
As it turned out, she really should’ve just stayed on the back porch. How could she have trusted Han Solo to set her up on a blind date?
