this is a true landmark

“A Blaze in the Northern Sky”
(Album: A Blaze in the Northern Sky, 1992)

2001. 1184

is the third album by band Windir,  Valfar composed this album with the band Ulcus. Departing from the sound Windir is normally known for, it nevertheless kept its folk elements, albeit with inspiration from electronic music. This release provoked divided reactions, with some praising it as a great Windir album which reached new creative heights, while others felt consternation at the departure of the sound for which Windir was recognised and admired in black metal circles.

this utterly perfect marriage between melody and aggression is a true musical landmark in every sense and should serve as a textbook example of how melodic black metal is supposed to sound….masterpiece!!!

Samus Aran and sexism

The portrayal of female characters in video games has a checkered past–and present. Too often women are depicted as sex objects, without depth or agency. Even characters supposedly designed to avoid this problem tend to fall victim to it. For these and other reasons, the industry’s reputation for misogyny is well deserved. The spacefaring bounty hunter Samus Aran, from Nintendo’s Metroid series, is a unique case. Aside from her controversial appearance in 2010’s Metroid: Other M, she regularly is cited as a strong, engaging character who subverts the sexist norm. But is this true?

Once Upon a Time: Michael Raymond-James returns for 100th episode

Emma and Neal may soon be reunited on Once Upon a Time!

Michael Raymond-James will reprise his role as Neal Cassidy in the landmark 100th episode, EW has learned.

The True Blood and Terriers alum, who will next star in NBC’s Game of Silence, first made his debut in the season 2 premiere as a mysterious man later revealed to be Rumplestiltskin’s (Robert Carlyle) son Baelfire, as well as Emma’s (Jennifer Morrison) first love and Henry’s (Jared Gilmore) father. Neal died in the third season and was last seen via flashback in that year’s finale.

Details on how Neal will appear are being kept under wraps, though with Emma and the gang heading tothe Underworld, one would assume that’s where he’ll be — Morrison, however, has doubts about that.

“As far as I understand, Hades only has people that have unresolved issues,” the actress told EW while shooting the 100th episode. “Neal died pretty resolved. He died a hero, he died knowing why he was dying and making that choice, and that didn’t involve taking on the Darkness. Hook [Colin O’Donoghue] took on all of the darkness of the Dark Ones in order to sacrifice himself, so that was clearly a choice that involved Darkness. As far as I understand, Neal’s death wouldn’t be considered wrapped up in Darkness in any way, so I guess that would mean he would go somewhere else. I don’t totally know.”

Neal isn’t the only familiar face making a return. The ABC fairy tale drama will welcome back Cora (Barbara Hershey), Henry (Tony Perez,)Peter Pan (Robbie Kay), Cruella de Vil (Victoria Smurfit), Milah (Rachel Shelley) and many more in the back half of the season, which features Greg Germann as Hades. Once Upon a Time returns Sunday, March 6 at 8 p.m. ET on ABC.

With 2015 coming to an end...

There are a few things I would like to say. I know I’ve been a little more absent the last half of this year vs the first half- I’ve had some personal issues, and then just life get in the way of my Tumblr time, but that doesn’t change what Tumblr and Taylor have done for me this year.

I’ve been on Tumblr a long time and dabbled in a couple different fandoms, but it wasn’t until this year that I truly found my place amongst all of you. I know plenty of people who like Taylor Swift, but I don’t know anyone else in my life that feels about her the way that I do… I was honestly starting to feel like maybe I was strange for letting this blonde haired, blue eyed, majestic person have this kind of effect on me… and then I made a TS dedicated Tumblr. I came to the realization that I was not strange, but feeling exactly the way Taylor intended to make me feel! Knowing that there is a community out there for people who feel just like I do about this amazing girl has made a huge difference in my life.

I know I don’t have to go into detail about how as Swifties we can all be a bit misunderstood. People just don’t get it unless they’re part of what helped put it together in the first place. It doesn’t matter if you’ve been around since album one, or if 1989 was your calling to the Swift universe… if you feel that profound Swift effect, then you helped make this empire what it is today. And the fact that this space is just for us to be able to communicate with the person who means the most to us… it’s just unreal. Knowing that Taylor is out there taking the time to check on us, and actually listen to us is beyond priceless. What she does for us… these are not PR moves, this is not about publicity at all… this shit is personal- This is Taylor on our level… her looking to US to make her feel grounded and safe. She’s looking to us for happiness just like we’re looking to her… and we provide this security for one another that goes beyond anything we could imagine.

I was fortunate enough to get to attend the 1989 World Tour in Charlotte NC this year, and I can honestly say that it was the best night of my entire life. I’ve never danced and sang so hard… I couldn’t breathe for at least half of the show and it never slowed me down. I became one with every flashing light, my heartbeat synchronized to each beat in each song and I looked into the face of the person who has brought me so much joy. I actually got to be present for the Clean speech and got to witness the transformation of IKYWT IN PERSON! I was so alive on that night, and I’ve spent most of my time being thankful and being anxious to do it all over again since it ended. Knowing I was part of this is something I will carry around with me forever… a memory forever indented in my mind that will sustain me even on the darkest of days.

And as if THAT wasn’t enough I also have the fortune to be able to say that my idol, the girl who has brought constant light to my life, took the time to follow ME on Tumblr. I just… I still do not know what I did to deserve that, but whatever it was I know I am eternally thankful… and I would not have had that if not for help from other Swifties. People taking time out of their own day to help me and countless others be noticed by the one person we’re all trying to get noticed by… that’s a family if I’ve ever seen one. Do you understand the magnitude of that gift you helped give me? My heart runs full with love and gratitude, and never ending appreciation for this. I cannot explain what it means to me to know that Taylor follows me, whether she ever speaks a word to me or not, I simply cannot put into words what it means that she follows my silly little blog… but I also know that I don’t have to explain it because so many of you already understand. I will never be able to repay any one person who took the time to reblog a post of mine, or even just like it out of support… I thank you with my whole heart, and hope that you feel the true sentiment of it.

So, Taylor… thank you for making 2015 a landmark year for me. Thank you for always being there for each and every one of us… Thank you for creating music to apply to our lives alongside yours. Thank you for never letting us down and always giving us the tools we need to move forward knowing we’re not alone. Thank you for every gift you’ve ever sent, and every fan you took the time to meet. We all know you’d meet each and every one of us if you could, and we will patiently wait for our turn. Thank you for being you, thank you for the 1989 World Tour, thank you for the gift you’ve given us in allowing that tour to be viewed whenever we want and relive those memories we formed together over and over. From the absolute bottom of my heart, thank you. Know you filled our year with as much joy as we could possibly stand, and I can only pray we did the same for you. I hope your birthday was amazing and you got back all the love you’ve given to each of us. Lets do it all again in 2016.

I love you so much, Tay.

Ailsa Craig is a small rocky island which guards the entrance to the Firth of Clyde. This beautiful island is a true living landmark and a familiar sight for visitors to the Ayrshire coast south of Glasgow. It is a well known landmark and is colloquially nicknamed ‘Paddy’s Milestone’, being situated roughly half way on the sea voyage between Glasgow and Belfast. It is about 1200 meters from North to South and 800 meters from east to west, with its summit reaching about 338 meters high. On three sides it is bounded by sheer cliffs; the Barestack at 190 meters is one of the highest overhanging cliffs in Britain.
