Devil in the Details

So after Michael Chu confirmed that the details on the tv in the background of the Pharah panel in Reflections were not only deliberate but also meant to hint about her location and her father’s nationality -

This tinyass image -

On a page with this much other stuff -

It made me curious about any other potential details I previously overlooked or wrote off as “just a funny coincidence” and rather surprisingly, I might have kinda found something??

I mean, there’s a shitton here but what I originally wrote off as being “just another background piece” is the map -

…These are not Watchpoints.

These are the Watchpoints that still exist at the time of Recall - you can find this map on Watchpoint: Gibraltar (I did not write these locations, but this is the clearest, head-on image I could find.)

The image from the Uprising comic

Are active missions or points of interest.

Locations that I can determine are:

  • Tokyo, Japan
  • Cairo, Egypt (based on the other screen discussing the “Cairo Incident”)
  • Numbani, Nigeria
  • (City unknown), Switzerland (?)
  • Paris, France
  • Rio de Janeiro, Brazil
  • Dorado, Mexico
  • Seattle, United States

  • Gets to know and observes people for a long time before recruiting them
  • He’s very stressed lately as they are a relatively new gang and there are a lot of fights going on with others for territories.

He met you in one these fights when you tried to make a distraction for your gang. You were about to go upstairs to the roof when you bumped into him

“Who the hell are you?” he asked immediately taking his gun out and pointing it at you.

“The same goes for you. You’re not from my gang so I’m here to kill you.”

“Oh really.” he asked smacking the gun from your hand and getting them behind your back. “You chose the wrong member. You see I’m the boss and now I can use you as a hostage.”

  • Nobody has seen him kill anybody because his methods are too cruel to do them in public.
  • Apparently has some beef with EXO’s Sehun. No one dares ask him but it has something to do with Sehun mistaking him for somebody.

By accident you got involved in a weapon dealing incident with him and he has been planing on killing you ever since. You were good at hiding your tracks but he saw you one day in the city and decided to get rid of you just there in the street but then realized that this fight would probably end up in a blood bath so instead he approached you in secret.

“You have to keep quite and come with me, if you don’t want to die here.” he said pressing his gun to your back.

  • When Seungcheol first noticed Jisoo he thought he’s a spy or something (as he appeared out of nowhere) and was about to kill him when he promised that he’s good at at least something
  • And he was, to everyone’s surprise Jisoo’s aim and accuracy is the best out of all of them that’s why he prefers snipers.

He was told to get rid of you silently but you noticed him at the last second and he missed the shot causing a massive panic in the street. You used this opportunity to escape which made Jisoo even more angry. He hasn’t missed a shot in a long time and was determined to get you for that. But whenever he thought he got you cornered he somehow managed to miss and after a while he started to enjoy this little game of yours and soon realized that he doesn’t even want to kill you anymore.

  • Trains all the members and teaches them different fighting techniques just in case.
  • His training routine is no joke and everyone is practically dead after it.

He met you before he joined the gang. You were jogging at the same park every morning. As it was really early and not a lot of people were out it became like a habit for him to greet you before he ran past. Eventually he wanted to engage in not only small talk and find out more about you and he started slowing down every single day till he was running at the same pace as you.

“Finally decided to slow down?” you asked.

“Only for you.” he winked.

  • They were incredibly popular and so he quickly went up the ranks and now whenever there is deal going on it has to go through him first.
  • His first idea was to make poison but he somehow made drugs so nowadays he likes mixing different ingredients to try to create a new deadly weapon.

You had the audacity to attempt to take his throne as the king of drug dealing. You were stubborn and despite a lot of orders to report what you’re doing, you made your way around and stole half of his clients. He had enough and thought that the easiest way to fix this problem would be to get rid of you. But he had no idea you thought the same thing and somehow got his whole warehouse blown up. He caught you outside.

“You little shit, now you will have to take responsibility and I’m not letting you go any time soon.”

  • Easiest way for him to get rich was cards that’s why he started gambling at a really young age and now is a pro at it and is amazing at bluffing.
  • Enjoys tricking his own gang members and actually gets the most money out of them.

Played poker with him once. He lost. Now he wants his money back but you keep denying his challenge. He usually shows up at the most random places just to ask you. You got into your car and almost spilled your coffee when you noticed him sitting in the back seat.

“Wonwoo what the fuck?”

“Come on Y/N, let’s play.”

“Can you get over that already? Get the hell out of my car.”

“I guess I have to take some more drastic measures.” he said taking his gun out. “We’re going to my place.” [x]

  • Doesn’t stay in the city for too long as he always has deals all around the country.
  • But when he comes back everyone is extremely happy to see him as he’s mostly chill and just being near him calms the others down.

He met you when he was away on a trip. You asked him for help when your car broke down and he fell in love at first sight. He stayed in the city for more than two months just to keep seeing you and you eventually became good friends when Seungcheol was done with him ignoring his orders and went to get him back himself. Well Mingyu obviously didn’t want to leave you but you didn’t want to go to another city either so he decided to be blunt.

“Y/N I don’t know how you feel about me but love you so I’m sorry but you have only two choices, you either go with me on your own free will or I take you by force.”

  • His specialty - torture. Favourite methods - teeth and fingernails pulling.
  • He charms his targets with his cute appearance and then gets every last bit of information they can muster.

You were unfortunate enough to be his target. You were screaming in pain for at least and hour, swearing that you don’t know anything when Seungcheol came in and told him that they got the wrong person. He set his tools aside and stood in silence for a few minutes.

“Fuck!” he shouted shoving everything from the table. You just watched in horror not knowing what’s going to happen next. He turned around and untied you. He was ashamed of himself and couldn’t look you in the eyes.

“At least let me treat you your wounds.”

  • Usually doesn’t think twice when someone trespasses and just shoots them on the spot.
  • But still has incredibly good and friendly relationships with the residence of the areas he’s taking care of.

Trying to bypass through his territories was a big mistake. He noticed you’re not a local and decided to find out what you’re doing here.

“Hey you!” he called you over but you just looked at him and started running.

“What the heck?!” he thought as he started chasing you. You didn’t know the streets well and ended up in a dead end.

“I got you cornered. Now you’re going to tell me what you’re doing here or I will have to use violence.”

  • That’s why they send him when their is a need to infiltrate, spy or track anybody.
  •  That doesn’t always work out as he likes to make either a grand entrance or exit and by doing that he attracts the attention of anybody nearby.

He was following you to get some information when he lost you. Suddenly he felt a knife press into his back.

“Why are you after me? Who hired you?”

He tried to take you by surprise by turning around and taking the knife out of your hands but he lost his balance and fell on top of you.

“What the hell do you think you’re doing?” you asked.

“Well this is quite the unfortunate situation you got yourself in.” he smirked. “If you promise not to make a scene our meeting won’t take long.”

  • Failure is not an option for him so he makes detailed strategies for all type of possible scenarios.

What a surprise You showed up at the wrong place at the wrong time and ruined all his perfect planing. The members haven’t seen him this pissed in a long time when he grabbed you and almost dragged you to one of the rooms. He roughly pushed you inside and you almost tripped on your own legs but his gentleman side couldn’t let a lady fall in front of him even when he was angry so he caught you midair and watched how confused you became by the second.

“Sit.” he said pulling you up and pointing you to the chair. “We have to talk.” [x]

He find out about you when he wanted to sell some info but the gang told him they already have what they need. Surprised that somebody besides him found it, he was determined to track you down. He was even more shocked when he saw that you’re a woman as there was not a lot of them in the industry.

“What? You think only men can do this type of work?”

“No but I find the women who do incredibly sexy.”

Some trusted former members of his father gang were asked to take care of him so that’s why you followed him and also joined this gang. He found this annoying as he wanted to escape his past and always treated you harshly but when he noticed that you’re not around anymore he got kind of sad. But to his delight you came back after a few weeks after taking care of business.

“Missed me?” You smirked.

“Please don’t ever do that again.” he said, giving you a surprise hug.

A Study in Hypocrisy #1

Or why the Avengers’ relationship to Tony was unhealthy at best, Steve isn’t fit to be a leader, and why I’m Team Iron Man to the end.

WHY STEVE ISN’T FIT TO BE A LEADER

While the Civil War dispute between Tony and Steve might have started because of the Accords, it very quickly turned personal for Steve. He put each and every one of his “teammates” in danger for the sake of one man (more about that later), and even though I love Bucky and everything (I really do!), Steve was extremely dumb about the entire situation. In fact, I don’t think he could have gone about it in the worst way.

He could have gone to “rescue” Bucky in disguise—God knows that, with his serum and brute force, he certainly could have done exactly what he ended up doing— but he went instead with the American flag all over himself. He didn’t stop to consider the implications, the possible consequences or bulldozing into a foreign country and engaging in a car chase in the middle of a populated city. He didn’t even stop to consider that there was no guarantee at all that Bucky was innocent.

He could have, you know, talked to Tony. Tony, who has the political experience and the material means and influence to get Bucky the best help there is. Tony, who’s been playing this game for so long, who knows how to get what he wants, who to go to, how to formulate things. Tony, who would have been his most precious ally.

And he was. Before he found out about his betrayal. Tony negotiated so hard to make sure no one would get hurt. After the Berlin disaster, he managed to get the UN (that’s 117 countries!) to agree to make the past 24 hours legal and to get Bucky to a facility where he would get the best help for his triggers, help that of course Tony himself would be paying for, because let’s be real, the Avengers are funded by Tony at this point, which is yet another thing that doesn’t sit well with me, but I’ll come back to it.

Back to why Steve isn’t fit to be a leader: the essence of a leader is that they are supposed to do just that. Lead. But to do that, they need to be fair and treat their men equally. They need to be able to put aside their personal feelings and look at situations objectively. Because their duty is to protect their men and have their back, just like they will have his.

A leader leads, sure. But they must know when to listen, too, and defer to somebody with greater expertise than themselves. In that case, Tony obviously knows better than he does, if only because he read the damn papers. That’s also something that doesn’t sit well with me regarding the rest of Team Cap. Not one of them paused to read the Accords. Hell, Scott had no clue what the hell was going on. He heard “jump,” and he did.

Yet, here comes Steve, putting the lives of not two, not three, but five (six, if you count Sharon) people at risk, all for one man. He drags in Clint and Scott with no regards to their families and personal situations, and all the while keeps information to himself. Do you think Sam knows that he could have avoided prison and exile? Do you think any of them know about Tony’s deal? Do you think Scott actually knew what was going on? Hell no! Because Steve is calculating enough that he won’t lose manpower to such a pesky thing as compromise.

How about Steve’s constant habit of putting the blame on Tony’s shoulders? “You did that when you signed”? What the fuck is wrong with you? You’re the one who keeps refusing to compromise!

Steve never treated Tony as an equal. In fact, none of them did. (Again, more on that later.) But the thing is that when it came to a life-altering secret that affected both his teammate and “friend,” and his childhood friend, Steve decided that it was his right to keep that information from both parties, which.

NO. Being “friends”—and I use the term loosely—with Howard doesn’t give Steve the right to such a decision. This is a traumatic event for Tony, something that affects personally and directly. He had a right to know. And as it has been demonstrated in previous movies that his capacity for forgiveness is immense, he would have had the time to process the information and the Siberia disaster never would have happened.

Furthermore and finally, Steve Rogers was never actually a captain. The title was just for show, a tool for propaganda when he was sent on a tour to sell war bills. All of his training comes from that short bootcamp for potential serum candidates, nothing more. He’s not actually part of the army, or a ranked officer. The only reason they let him keep the title was because he’d been lucky enough to bring back the 107th when he disobeyed orders, and then proved useful enough to both war efforts and morale.

Steve Rogers is not a leader. A leader treats everyone equally and gives respect before expecting it. A leader does not keep secrets from his men to serve his own agenda. A leader does not leave a man behind in a freezing, deserted landscape with no way of calling for help.

If anything, Tony’s the leader of the Avengers. Why? Ask yourselves the following questions:

  • Who feeds the Avengers?
  • Who houses the Avengers?
  • Who clothes the Avengers?
  • Who arms the Avengers?
  • Who handles their PR?
  • Who pays for the destruction they leave behind?
  • On the battlefield, who has a global view of everything that’s going on?
  • Who is so smart that they can predict and analyze battle scenarios, and adapt to the unexpected in a flash?
  • Who’s considerate enough to leave their former teammate to his retirement because he’s just that, retired with his family?
  • Who cares about everyone equally and would give everything to protect them all? Who goes above and beyond to provide them with everything they need?
  • Who has the political experience required to handle their supervisors and foreign policy?

That’s right. Tony Stark.

Not Steve Rogers.

“Look at that one.”

“That one over there?”

“Yeah,” you confirm with a pout. “I want it.”

Ashton chuckles and looks to you at his side. “That’s the fourth dog you’ve said you wanted since we got here.”

It’s true, but you can’t help it. You always get dog-envy at the farmers’ market, exposed to too many cute pups at once for your little heart to handle.

“We should get one,” you say passively, adoring a large german shepherd trotting by with its owner. “Y'know, if we ever live together.”

Ashton smirks, turning his head. “I love how you’re not even worried about scaring me with plans for the future.”

Your cheeks redden, having not noticed the implications when you said it. It’s only been three months since the fight that started it all, since you and Ashton agreed to give your relationship a title, and you suppose you should be more careful about vocalizing your whimsical thoughts. Your guard just naturally falls around him, the pressure to play safe wiped away by his equal and obvious feelings toward you. Talk of commitment doesn’t affect him the way it does most people. If Ashton was going to run, he would’ve done so by now.

You glance down at his fingers between yours, smiling because you don’t think he’s let go of your hand all day. With his hectic training schedule for another upcoming fight and your demanding attendance at university four days a week, the two of you have recently been missing each other more than actually seeing each other, and it appears Ashton wants to make up for lost time in the form of suffocating your palm–not that you mind. For someone whose fists can be classified as lethal weapons, he has quite a gentle grip when it comes to you.

Pairing: Eventual Peter Parker x Female!Reader

Requested: Nope

Warnings: Light cursing.

Summary: You learn Peter’s secret, and it doesn’t take long for him to learn yours.

Note: This is really reader-heavy. but I really felt that in order to move on in this verse I had to develop that character and her relationships with the other characters. So, sorry if you wanted more Peter, but I promise there will be more of him in future installments. Also this is the most self-indulgent thing I’ve ever written in my life.

“(Y/N)! Has Peter told you about his new internship yet?” Ned asked excitedly, sitting down at your usual lunch table. Peter wasn’t there yet, but that wasn’t abnormal. He had chemistry before lunch and had recently taken to spending some extra time in the lab before coming to eat.

“No,” you said. “I haven’t really seen him yet today.”

“Oh, man, I don’t want to spoil it for you but it is crazy!” Ned said.

Surprise - you get a bonus Hiveswap developer interview today!

Hello there Hiveswap and Homestuck fans, Ash here! Now, I know what you’re thinking: “What madness is this? Ash said there’d only be *one* Hiveswap development team interview per week going forward! And he said they would be on WEDNESDAYS! This isn’t a Wednesday!”

Right you are, and that’s exactly why surprises are so much fun! Now, last week I mentioned that the next interviewee would be our superstar UI designer and all-around graphics guy Tauhid. Our interview with him will still be going live this week on Thursday, so definitely look forward to that, but today we’ve got another talented team member in the hot seat: Tom Hunt, our lead programmer and the prime coding whiz in charge of things on the technical side of things! Take it away, Tom!

Introduce yourself to the fans! What is your specific role on the Hiveswap team?

Hi, I’m Tom. I make stuff in Unity, which is a cross-platform 3D game engine and editor that can make all kinds of things - including the very 2D game you’re here to read about! My company neocade and I are working freelance on Hiveswap, with me as the lead programmer. Mostly, I direct and coordinate the team of programmers and quality assurance (QA) testers that are putting this game together. Sometimes I also write code.

When and how did you get your start on the Hiveswap project?

Sometime late last year, I was looking for a gig. At the time, What Pumpkin Games was looking for an additional Unity programmer. A mutual business contact introduced us via email, and we went from there.

Tell us a little bit about your career background! How did you get your start in programming? Do you have any advice for others looking to enter this field?

I’ve been programming computers since I was a little kid. I got my first actual programming job about a month after graduating high school, and did that for a bit during breaks while I was in college. It wasn’t very exciting, had nothing to do with video games, and didn’t pay a whole lot, but it sure beat taping up boxes of hot dogs in a factory all day.

The only advice I can really give to someone looking to enter the video games field is to just start making video games. Game development tools are more readily available now than they’ve ever been.

Also make lots of friends, especially with people who can draw or write or anything. If you live near a city, there is probably at least one game dev meetup somewhere - go to those and meet people. Get over whatever shyness you have, because almost every game that ever gets made is the result of a lot of teamwork.

We’re making a video game, so of course the question must be asked: what’s your favorite game of all time?

I played the heck out of Super Metroid back in the day. There’s something about that game. I would do speedruns of it - so now, every time I go back and play it, it all just feels so fluid. There’s a fairly robust set of inputs mapped out in a way that makes sense to my fingers. The entire game itself is fairly tightly bounded - a complete playthrough can take less than 90 minutes - so in a way, this beautifully detailed, explorable world is also actually kind of respectful of my time (more so than, say, a game like Skyrim, which is almost always a multi-hour/day/week commitment).

What games are you playing currently (if any)?

To be perfectly honest, I have not been playing NEARLY enough video games lately. That being said, aside from Hiveswap, I am currently into little mobile action puzzlers that I can play on the bus. Super Hexagon and Desert Golf are great. Just tried Polyforge this morning, too; that was pretty fun.

A lot of my friends are playing Breath of the Wild. I really want to just go get a Switch and play that, but I’m afraid of that eating up my time like Skyrim did.

Are there any games that you currently use or have used as inspiration for your own programming work here on Hiveswap, or just in general?

Not really - I tend to look at each technical problem on its own merits. The creative side of things is all handled by the What Pumpkin folks. I don’t really get involved with that too much. I just work to make sure their vision is implemented, however that needs to be done.

Imagine you’ve been given an unlimited budget and time frame to make your dream game. Tell us (briefly!) about that game in terms of genre, style, platforms, etc. Is it an original game or a long-desired sequel to an existing game? Go crazy!

Given an unlimited budget and time to work on a “dream game,” I’d have to go with some kind of deeply-simulated, massively multiplayer VR thing.

What’s your workstation like?

As a programmer, I like my workstations to be fast, reliable, and quiet. I always max out the RAM on a new machine if I can, because disk thrashing is just annoying as all hell. I’ve been really digging M.2 drives lately. Also, having extra monitors is always nice.

Do you like to listen to any particular kinds of music while you work? If so, tell us about it!

Mostly instrumental electronic music. Sometimes I’ll throw on some classical. Video game soundtracks are usually a pretty good bet. I can’t listen to anything with spoken words in it, though - too distracting.

Do you have a personal message you’d like to relay to all the Homestuck and Hiveswap fans out there?

Thank you all for being so patient with this project!

Thank you, Tom! Well folks, I hope you’ve enjoyed this week’s surprise bonus interview, and remember to check back on Thursday for yet another behind-the-scenes peek into Hiveswap’s development! As I teased last week, our very own Tauhid Bondia will be on hand to talk about his indispensable (my word, not his!) graphics and user interface design work on Hiveswap. See you then, everyone!

NCT as the Mafia + How He Met You

A/N: I decided to only do the members who had already debuted and no one under 17 (Jaemin is an exception, his bday is soon 😂) and this still turned out longer than I expected 😂

Lee Taeyong

  • The leader and founder of the gang, responsible for practically everything and everyone need to report to him whatever they’re doing
  • Tends to regret his decision to even start this because more and more members join every year and he realized that he will have to take care of them even if he’s dead and can often be seen staring into nothing, thinking about this
  • Since he’s the one who came up with this ‘genius’ idea, he was caught by the police a number of times practically every time they did any petty crime when they first started out
  • But now they got so good at this, that they even have bribed officials working in their favour

You both broke into the same building, at the same time and both got arrested ten minutes later. You even ended up in the same cell for 48 hours until someone came and bailed you two out. While you were waiting, you bickered and blamed each other for being the reason the other got caught but since Taeyong already had his gang, it wasn’t long since Taeil came to get him out as opposed to you, who had no one.

“Taeyong, you’re out! But I swear if I catch you again I will put you in for good!” the police officer said.

“Yeah yeah,” he stood up and went to the door before stopping. “Taeil, pay for her as well, we’re taking her with us.”

  • Takes care of the gang’s legal stuff (like money and documents) and hides the illegal
  • Is the one who gets the others out of trouble and everyone needed his help at some point
  • Scouts for new members despite Taeyong begging him not to
  • But they have to fit his high standards
  • At first he was really against this whole gang thing
  • But now he’s like the mother of the group

He met you when he came to bail Taeyong out.

“I’m not using our money on her. How do you even know if she will be a valuable asset to the team?”

“She’s going. That’s it,” Taeyong ordered and he didn’t dare argue with him when he’s angry. He kept glaring at you every time he saw you but you exceeded all of his expectations and welp I sense a love triangle

  • Finally got into the gang after 9 years of begging proving himself
  • He has yet to find out what his job really is
  • Was so happy when they trusted him with a deal, he screwed it up immediately
  • Before he even joined, he somehow got himself caught in a fight between EXO’s Sehun and Seventeen’s Jeonghan, even though he had practically nothing to do with it and it was mostly Sehun’s fault but that’s for later

While he was waiting in the dungeon to be accepted, he often went to this shooting range to practice but you always beat him and it annoyed him to no end, so one time he made a bet with you, if he gets in (he was boasting to you about the gang) or wins against you, you will have to go on a date with him.

“Well at this point I don’t think you will ever join that gang and I don’t see you ever winning against me either, so why not?” you laughed.

“Watch me,” he smirked, as he was about to tell you he’s in.

  • Like Doyoung he’s an assassin/hitman, except he’s the real deal
  • He prefers silent weapons, like snipers and often stays in the shadows (something he learned from Ten)
  • Not everyone can hire him and he only takes very well paid jobs
  • Despite the things he does, he gets scared very easily by stupid things

Someone set you up and hired both of you to kill each other, hoping neither of you will survive. After chasing, fighting and avoiding you for over a month, someone leaked information to him what’s this all really about and he decided that it would be best to join up and find the one who hired you two. Now his only problem was proving to you that he’s telling the truth and stopping you from shooting him dead. That will be difficult though because once you take a job there’s no going back.

“I have to work even faster. I I just stand around doing nothing she will get to me in a blink on an eye.”

  • You could call him and ‘assassin’ but he likes to show off his skills, so everybody would know that it was him who took care of things
  • Doesn’t like working with Yuta, their styles are completely different

A fight broke out in a local club and he was searching around the place for any survivors to clean everything once and for all, when he noticed a leg sticking out from under the table. He lifted the tablecloth and saw you sitting there.

“What the hell are you doing here? Did you think you can hid from me?”

“Oh no. I’m not hiding. Quite the opposite! I’m just watching - I mean reading.”

“Really? Reading? In the middle of a shootout?” you just shrugged and he stared at you for a few seconds before dragging you out.

“This is not a place for someone like you, let me help you out of here,” he smirked.

  • Only Taeyong knows what he’s doing at this point
  • One day Yuta saw him in the headquarters and screamed for two minutes straight because he thought he saw a ghost
  • “Oh it’s just you… I thought you were lost on that mission two months ago.”
  • Some days when he’s alone that happens a lot poor baby he wonders: ‘Why don’t we go on missions as a U unit anymore?’; ‘They missed the perfect chance to add me TEN as the tenth member of 127 smh’

He met you completely by accident, when he came back after a few months and somebody though he’s gone for good again and gave you his room. He lifted the covers up, only to see you sleeping in his bed and he was so shocked he stood there still holding the blanket when you still in your sleep took it from him and rolled to the other side.

“Wait… What?” he said, taking it from you again.

“Let me sleep,” you just mumbled.

“Ooh I will let you sleep! For eternity that is, if you don’t explain what you’re doing here!”

You accompanied him to one of the deals instead of Johnny and immediately realized he was about to start blabbing shit and stopped him before he could do it.

“Are you sure about that?” you asked, throwing him a glare.

“Yes, I’m sure, could you please stop kicking me under the table?.. Wait, who are you anyway?” he asked you.

“Are you serious?” you stood up and dragged him out of the room to show him who you really are and to shut that pretty mouth of his.

  • Likes to blackmail people with their sensitive information for money

Trying to beat him at online MMO games was bad idea but it was even worse when you actually won. He threw his computer out of the window almost hitting Jaehyung in the head. He soon got another one out from under the table.

“I would rather die but I will never let somebody crush me like that,” he thought, starting to track your location.

  • When he finally got better at socializing, he also got better, actually really really good at investigations/infiltrations/collecting information
  • Taeyong often sends him out of the city for a job
  • Hates Donghyuck’s guts lowkey best friends

He met you while working in one of the coffee shops as part of his mission. The moment you walked in, you immediately caught his attention and what other way to get to know you better than to approach you head on.

“A coffee for milday,” he said, putting the cup down on your table.

“I didn’t order any.”

“I know,” he chuckled. “It’s on me.”

You just rolled your eyes and decided to take it. [x]

  • “Wait what?” he just blinked a few times.
  • And now he’s here, still a bit lost and not sure what he’s doing exactly
  • Not yet too enthusiastic about all this

He hasn’t met you yet or rather you haven’t (officially) because he has been hiding. He is very impressed but also afraid of you at the same time. When you try to talk to him, he runs away.

“Why does he run away? Is he scared or something?” you asked Jeno.

He saw you sneaking around, trying to steal from them and casually approached you.

“I’m sorry but who the heck might you be?”

You stood up from the door you were about to pick a lock from and started walking in the opposite direction like nothing happened. He came up to you in quick steps.

You walked into the mine field he set up for a test but he didn’t feel like blowing you up since he was in a good mood.

“Don’t move!” he shouted to you.

“I’m just passing by, what’s your problem?”

“I think you have more problems than me,” he said, pointing at the ground. You looked down and noticed a mine below your feet.

“Is that what I think it is?”

“Yes.”

“And? Will you help me or will you just stand there?”

  • “I’m not taking in a bunch of children, this is not a kindergarten,” Taeyong said as he took him in how is he the leader? he’s too soft smh
  • Doesn’t talk much and doesn’t share what he’s doing (which brakes the rules btw but who cares)
  • The others have yet to find out what is the real reason the joined

You found everything that he does suspicious ever since high school, so one day you followed him and saw what he was hiding all this time. He noticed you soon after though. He grabbed you by the arm and sat you down in one of the nearby chairs.

“Now you be quiet and listen to me very carefully, if you ever as much as think about what you saw here…”

“What?” you retorted. “I’m so scared! What happens to me then?”

“You better not find out…”

All in all, NCT is not yet very well coordinated as a gang but they’re getting there 😂

Jerome Valeska Imagine- Life’s A Joke (Part One?)

I know I usually write Teen Wolf fic, but I love Gotham so much. Are Imagines like this something you would be into? Warning this is quite long.

Y/N Gordon, what a name to live up to. You moved in with your uncle, after the death of you parents. You loved your him of course, but by no means were you anything alike. You had no interest in being the ‘hero’ of Gotham, if anything you were waiting for the city to crumble into non-existence. You weren’t always like this. But being forced to watch the murder of your parents, changed you. You cared about nothing- you were bored with life completely.

It was Wednesday, you and Uncle J had a tradition of eating takeout burgers in the police car during his lunch break. You had grown bored of it a long time ago, but you knew he needed it. Even if you both sat in silence, you were still together. But today stood out like no other. You were parked In an alleyway somewhere, when the police radio flicked on with urgency. “Jim, Jim are you there?” a voice spoke with panic. You looked at each other, before he responded. “Yeah, what’s the problem Harvey?” he asked. You slurped on your milkshake, awaiting the response. “The Maniax have been spotted downtown, you need to get here now!” he reported. “I’ll be there, I just need to drop off my niece” he told. “There’s no time Jim-” he began to say, followed by the faint sound of gun shots in the background. “Shit” your uncle muttered, before beginning to reverse out of the alleyway.

“Stay in the car!” Uncle J said firmly, knowing you had a problem with following authority. “Sure” you shrugged, looking at him with eyes that said otherwise. He huffed, before slamming the door shut behind him. He looked at you through the window and showed you his car keys, before putting child lock on, to prevent you from getting out. He smiled as you rolled your eyes at him, before following the sound of gun shots and shouting officers. You were sitting for no longer than 10 seconds, before you climbed into the driver’s seat and took out one of your earrings, before beginning to tamper with the mechanics of the vehicle. You then shoved the door open and slammed it shut behind you. Like hell, were you waiting in a police car for your uncle to return hours later. You walked along the sidewalk, away from the sound of shooting and screams. You found yourself in an empty street, as the breeze hit your skin. You took a second to spin around and embrace the feeling. When you opened your eyes, you found yourself looking up at the roof of a building. You could see someone with bright hair and an Arkham Asylum uniform on. They appeared to be fixated on you and you couldn’t seem to look away either. He began pointing a gun towards you, but you couldn’t move. Not out of fear, but curiosity. That’s when you heard more gunshots and shouting coming closer towards you. “They went this way” you heard Harvey shout. You looked away from the rooftop when you felt someone grab your shoulder. “What did I tell you Y/n!” your Uncle shouted, pulling you away. “I was bored” you shrugged, with no emotion. “Did you see where they went?” Harvey asked, joining the pair of you. “Where who went?” you asked with false naivety. “Jerome Valeska and the other whackjobs” he added. You thought for a second, before giving your response. “No” you replied laconically. He sighed before nodding and heading off down the street. Jim guided you back to the car, you climbed in willingly, sensing the annoyance radiating from. “Stay” he ordered, and this time you complied. He then slammed the door shut and also headed off. “Jerome Valeska” you repeated.

Your uncle returned to the car, after about an hour or so. You were on the verge of falling asleep, but you soon brightened up as he sat in the drivers seat. The car journey was silent for about ten minutes, before you reluctantly broke the silence. “I’m sorry” you mumbled, looking down at your nails. He simply raised his eyebrows, as a sign for you to continue. “I shouldn’t have left the car, it was irrational and stupid” you added. “Apology accepted” he returned, smug of you admitting defeat. “Did you find him- and the others” you quickly added the last part. “No” he said with clear disappointment. “What did they do?” you asked. “They made a statement, using seven innocent lives to do it” he didn’t want to tell you, but he knew you wouldn’t drop it until he did. “Why?” you pried. “Insanity Y/n, it makes a person do the craziest things” he spoke. You took that as an indication for you to stop asking questions, but by no means did you stop thinking about the insane criminals, about the boy with the bright hair.

It had been a week since you saw him, and the news of the terror group was spreading around Gotham like wild fire. You were the only person at your school who didn’t seem to be petrified by the thought. You were sitting on the school bus, due to your uncle taking away your own car keys as punishment. You prepared yourself for a long and boring journey, but the events that followed were anything but that.

You were surrounded by all the preppy losers, who were meeting up for their traditional meal, before a big game. You sat down on a seat on your own and rolled your eyes, after having no other choice but to hear them practice their cheers and chants. You hadn’t taken the bus since Freshman year and even you knew the bus was taking an abnormally long time to drive off. You opened the window and lit up a cigarette, ignoring the fake coughs from the annoyed cheerleaders, who were certainly convinced you were going to give them blood poisoning. Screams and cries soon began to erupt, from the front of the bus, making its way along. You glanced to the front, seeing a familiar figure. It was him. Before he began to speak, an accomplice of his began to cuff you all to the chairs. You were cuffed by a half-wit, still holding the burning cigarette in your hand. “Give me an O” Jerome shouted with amusement, beginning to pace down the bus. The students around you immediately complied, with shaky voices. “Give me a H” he continued. You simply lifted your hands to your mouth, having another puff on the toxic paper. “Give me a N” he added, reaching you. You looked at him, with no sign of fear or obedience. “Give me a N” he leant down and breathed on your neck. You simply turned to face him and blew your smoke into his face. He quickly jolted up, causing the other students to flinch and whimper. “I know who you are” he worked out. Before giving that unforgettable laugh of his. You watched in complete amassment. “You’re Officer Jim Gordon’s daughter” he claimed dramatically, as if he was giving a performance. “Niece” you corrected. He titled his head, surprised by your disobedience, as opposed to your bravery. “Why didn’t you tell them where I was? You could have saved your own life, as well of all of your peers” he once again grew closer to you. “You could have shot me then, and saved yourself if I did tell them where you were” you equally retort. He grabbed your chin and titled your head, staring into your eyes. He searched them, looking for any sign of emotion and found none. He smirked, before letting go and making his way back to the front of the bus.

Meanwhile, your Uncle and Harvey worked at the station, stuck in an endless pile of new leads and paperwork. That’s when they got the phone call. “Y/n’s on that bus” his eyes widened, as he slammed down the phone and grabbed his keys from his desk. Jerome grabbed the hose, filled with gasoline. “Give me a H” he finished. Your classmates once again complied. “What’s that spell?” he asked mockingly. “Oh No” they all answered. Shit. You threw your lit cigarette out of the window, as he began to spray gasoline all over the bus. He moved up and down all of the seats, spraying each person individually. That was until he reached you. “Anything to say?” he asked you casually, while holding the hose over the person behind you, drowning them in the liquid. “I’ve never been one for cliché last words” you retaliated sarcastically, looking away from him. “How about now?” he asked, now holding a gun to your head. “Shoot me” you said fearlessly, still refusing to pay him attention. You were the only person not coated in gasoline.

Jerome stood outside, holding a lighter. He then gave a speech to his accomplices, as Uncle J and the other officers began to arrive. He threw the lighter on the ground, after realising it wasn’t working. “Anyone got a light?” he teased, as if he had all the time In the world. He then smirked, after seeing the lit cigarette on the ground. “She can finish this one” he grinned, throwing it onto the trail of gasoline, heading towards the bus, before making a quick escape. Jim entered the bus, getting into the drivers seat. He then proceeded to move the bus to safety, narrowly avoiding the flames. He sighed and the screams come to a halt, being replaced with cries of relief. “Everybody okay?” he asked, before turning around to the terrified students. They muttered their responses, still in complete shock. Uncle J then stood up in adrenaline and made his way over to your seat. The only empty seat. “Where’s Y/n?” he practically whispered, scared to hear the answer. “Where is Y/N!? He repeated, shouting this time. There was almost silence on the bus, before someone spoke up. “They took her- he took her” a voice answered in distain.

Request: “Would you STOP coming in through the WINDOWS, it scares the hell out of me every TIME!” AU

Request: Hey could you do an imagine where peter and the reader are friends but the reader’s dad is kinda strict so she’s not allowed to have boys over, so she sneaks peter in her bedroom window at night so they can hang out (like watch a movie or play video games or something) but things end up getting kinda smutty. Btw I love your writing and I’m so happy that I found your blog❤❤❤

A/N: I am writing again slowly! So slowly! But I’m working on my requests very slowly. So, so slowly. Also wow? This one wasn’t that good. And Meh if you want a smutty part 2 let me know.

Word Count: 1309

Masterlist

Sometimes you really hated how strict your dad was.

“No boys in the house!” He would always tell you.

Not that you really listened. Two of your three best friends were males and you weren’t exactly going to drop them as friends because your dad didn’t like it when you spent time with boys.

Not too long ago, you found out that your best friend, (and your crush), Peter Parker, was Spiderman. THE SPIDERMAN.

You kind of found out accidentally. You had snuck out one night and kind of, maybe gone into a bad neighbourhood and found yourself surrounded by some not so great people when Spidey came out of no where and saved you. He immediately brought you back to your apartment. Which kind of threw you off.

Spiderman, realizing his mistake, revealed himself to you as Peter.

Since then, Peter no longer allowed you to sneak out at night. And you did not appreciate the fact that yet another man was telling you what to do.

So, as a compromise, you promised not to sneak out unless you were going to do something that didn’t involve walking through that part of the city.

Usually, Peter ended up sneaking into your bedroom. Sometime when your dad would come in to check on you before bed, Peter would scramble to hide. Sometimes he ended up under your bed, other times in your closet, but most of the time he ended up on the side of your building.

Like any other night, Peter had messaged you saying he was on his way.

It was difficult when you could really only see your best friend at school, you weren’t even allowed to have him in your house, so you truly cherished the times that Peter would spend his evenings at your house, even if it meant sneaking around behind your dad’s back.

You were sitting on your bed, headphones in your ears, working on your English homework when you felt someone place a hand on your shoulder.

You jumped, screaming.

“Y/N, shhh, it’s just me!” Peter said

“Would you STOP coming in through the WINDOWS, it scares the hell out of me every TIME!”

Peter laughed, “Jeez, Y/N, I didn’t mean to scare you, but its not like I can come in any other way,”

Suddenly there was a knock at your bedroom door.

“Y/N? Is everything alright? i’m coming in,” You dad said, walking into the bedroom.

Peter’s eyes went wide, He quickly flung himself into you closet and you jumped up to close the door behind him.

“Y/N? What’s wrong? Why did you scream?”

You awkwardly stood in front of your closet door as your dad walked into your bedroom, looking around.

“I uh…. I saw a spider,” you said.

You could FEEL Peter rolling his eyes through the closet door.

“and it scared me, kinda just appeared out of no where, but I killed it so it’s okay,” you continued.

“Maybe spider’s wouldn’t get into the house if you didn’t leave your window open all the time. Please close it and finish your homework,”

Your dad walked out of your bedroom and closed the door behind him.

You stepped away from the closet, allowing Peter to step out.

“Did you really have to go with the spider comment?”

“I mean, I wasn’t wrong. A spider did scare me,”

Peter rolled his eyes, “Are we watching a movie or having a Mario Kart rematch tonight?”

“I think I’m ready to destroy you at Mario Kart again,” you decided.

You and Peter sat down on the floor in front of your tv and set up the game.

You and Peter spent way too much time playing.

“Ha! I beat you at Mushroom George again! In your face Parker,”

“It’s Mushroom Gorge, Y/N,” Peter rolled his eyes.

“You’re just a sore loser,” You said, sticking your tongue out at Peter.

“Am not!”

“Whatever Parker,”

After many more rounds, and lots more banter, you came out the winner.

“And here we have it! I, Y/N, Y/L/N, am still the reiGNING ULTIMATE MARIO KART CHAMPION!”

Peter laughed, “Maybe I let you win,

“Sore! Loser!”

There was another knock at your door, “Y/N! Who are you talking to?”

“No one dad, just yelling at my tv screen again,”

Without warning your bedroom door opened,

Your dad spotted Peter, You and Peter quickly shot up off the ground and you went to stand in front of Peter.

“Y/N, Y/L/N, What have I told you about boys In your bedroom?” Your dad said, raising his voice

“Dad, It’s just Peter,”

“IT DOESN’T MATTER WHO IT MATTERS THAT YOU DEFIED MY ORDERS” he yelled

“I’m sorry sir, i’ll just leave,” Peter said.

Peter maneuvered around your father and gave you a compassionate smile before turning and leaving your bedroom.

The next hour was you receiving a lecture from your father. He yelled and screamed and even went off on how you could be pregnant right now from Peter. He wouldn’t listen when you tried to explain that you really were only playing video games.

After your father left, you were fuming. You don’t think you’ve ever been this angry. You’re responsible. You weren’t a child anymore. You didn’t deserve to be treated like some ignorant twelve year old.

You were angry. Peter was your friend! He was more than your friend. He was the love of your life, and your dad was being an ass.

You were going to sneak out to see Peter when you saw him sitting outside your window.

You walked over and let him in.

“You stayed?”

“Yeah. I mean, I was worried about you,”

“Well, don’t worry too much Parker, i’m just angry,”

“I’m sorry we got caught,”

“It’s not your fault Peter, and if I could have helped it we would have been caught in a much more compromising position,” you muttered.

“What?”

“Nothing,”

“No, what did you say?” Peter asked.

You signed, “I just meant that If we had been caught doing something, we should have been caught doing something. If you know what I mean,”

“Well, we could always get caught again, I know it wouldn’t be that hard, you’re very loud,”

“I’m not loud…”

“You’re a loud moaner,”

“How do you know?!” You questioned.

“I’ve uh, flown fast here a couple of times as Spiderman while you were in a compromising position yourself,”

Your face went red, realizing what he meant.

“Oh god, that’s so embarrassing,”

“No, it’s actually kinda hot,” Peter said, taking a step towards you.

“Are we really going to do this?” You asked.

“If we are, you’re going to have to learn to be quiet, Y/N, cause i’d really like to enjoy you and not have your father barge in on us,”

“Fuck,” you muttered under your breath.

Peter took another step closer to you, letting his hand brush your face.

“Just tell me what you want, Y/N,”

“You,” you breathed.

“Vacations are rare for the Waynes” - Batmom x Batfam

Here’s a little collection of short stories about the Batfamily going to the beach/being in vacation ! I kinda just had ideas for tiny little snippets rather than a story that was a long one and made sense…it’s bad. Hope you’ll like it :

PART 1

my masterlist blog : https://ella-ravenwood-archives.tumblr.com

_________________________________________________

How did the Wayne found time to go on vacation ?

God bless Batwoman, Batgirl, Jim Gordon…And everyone who joined in helping the Batfamily over the years, because thanks to them, you, your husband, kids and beloved butler were FINALLY able to take some times off.

A few years ago, leaving Gotham for vacations would have been a big no-no for Bruce, and you always understood, you really did. Hell, you had trouble leaving the Bat computer behind…But ever since he got new allies that weren’t direct family, things got easier.

They all were able, since a long time now, to take at least one night off during the week and such. But actually full on holidays ? Oh that didn’t happen in…in…in forever !

The only holiday you went on with Bruce was without the kids, and it was for your Honeymoon. Three days. Three days of pure bliss (and lots of sex).

And now, the opportunity to be all together for A FULL WEEK came up !

It all started because Tim got injured pretty bad, but still wanted to go on patrol…and you lost your shit. You were always supportive of their nightly activities (though worried sick as well), and you were monitoring the bat computer almost every night, when you didn’t have “date night” with Bruce or “mother/son bonding time” with one of your boys !

You were really understanding, and you too wanted Gotham to be a safe place, having had the same kind of background than Bruce…But hell if you were going to let one of your babies go out in the streets while he was badly injured !

With your famous “Batmom Glare” and a stern voice, you told Tim :

-You’re not going. You’re taking some vacation my boy, to relax and be fully charged again. In fact, we’re all taking a vacation !

…It kinda just happened. You were mad, they didn’t want to make you angry (you were scary when angry), and it was true that…All of them wanted well deserved time off.

And it was decided. A week far away from the murkiness, grittiness, darkness that was Gotham, in the sunny Bahamas. Perfect.

Of course, Bruce made sure that coming back to the city fast was possible, and also made sure to brief all of the Batpeople on anything that could happen but…He also really wanted to go. He wasn’t getting any younger and though he’d never admit it your little burst of anger was a blessing for him too.

You all needed time away. Oh yes. And though you also made sure Gotham would be in safe hands (anyway, villains got pretty calm lately), you left without hesitation ! TO THE BAHAMAS !!

back to black [m]

A/N: I have been listening to a lot of Amy Winehouse lately and this is what happens. I’m tempted to turn this into a series, but we shall see.

We only said goodbye with words, I died a hundred times
You go back to her, and I go back to black

-Amy Winehouse

“Hey! What’s your name?” someone shouted at you from across the bar. His words barely louder than the beat pumping through the speakers.

The bartender handed over your drink, exchanging whiskey for your bills. The whiskey ginger burned on your tongue as you took a sip, preparing yourself to face the owner of the voice. He was handsome, but the look in his eyes told you that your name was the last thing on his mind. “No thanks.” You smiled, slipping off the bar stool to make your way through the crowd.

You felt your phone vibrate in your back pocket, the screen sticking out like a sore thumb in the dim lights of the bar your best friend had dragged you too. And as if the universe was playing a cruel trick on you, his name flashed on your screen. You scoffed as you read the familiar words.

Jin 11:45 PM: Where are you?

You held your phone up to your lips, debating if you should respond. Jin was bad for you and you knew it. That’s why the two of you broke up, to begin with. That’s why you still answered his calls and text messages. You took another sip, hoping to find some wisdom in the bottom of the ice. The screen illuminating the glass in your hand as you sank the rest of your drink. He was not a patient man.

Jin 11:48 PM: Y/N, where the hell are you?

His brashness made you wince, quickly typing out a response. Two could play this game, even though the both of you were never good at following the rules.

Y/N: 11:48 PM: Out

You really must have pissed him off as your phone started to vibrate in your hand, he was calling you.

“Stop playing games, Y/N.” Jin hissed through the phone, interrupting you before you could even say hello.

“I told you last time that this was over between us.” You raised your voice, matching his level of annoyance although for a much different reason.

Jin scoffed, “You and I both know that last time wasn’t enough.”

“Fuck you.” you quipped, annoyed at how easily the sound of his voice turned you into putty. His words pushing and pulling you into shapes that only he could make. “I’m at the bar.”

“I’ll be there in five minutes.” was all he said before the line on the other end went dead.

“Stark, what the hell was that?!” Steve asked the second you were out of ear shot.

“Language.” Clint muttered but he went ignored

Sam snorted. “She’s like Sherlock and Dr Watson all in one.”

“No. She’s Y/N. You can’t compare her to anyone else trust me.” Tony replied, completely unfazed by Steve’s outburst.

“She just came up here with convenient perfect timing, happened to bring Chinese with all of our favourites that we didn’t even know and can read people better than Romanoff and Buck? And you say she’s a lawyer?” Steve crossed his arms and took a few steps back.

“It’s not my story to tell but for the record, she’s justified.” Tony was quick to defend you after years of loyalty.

Steve rolled his eyes. “Oh of course. Because you know all about ‘Bunny’, don’t you? And justified? She speaks 9 languages fluently, and is highly trained in Ballet, Gymnastics and Martial arts!”

Bucky and Natasha shared an uneasy look.

“For God’s sake, Rogers! What is your problem with the girl? She knew this case had a less than fifty percent chance of winning it yet here she is, ready to bust her ass to make sure your asses don’t end up in a maximum security prison that makes The Raft look like a five star hotel!”

“We risk our lives constantly to help protect the world and now you’re telling us to put our trust in someone who is trained well enough to be one of us when we don’t even know her!”

The tension in the room was thick and everyone was tense and ready to pounce the minute things headed south.

Tony stood up, slamming his glass on the table. “That’s exactly what I’m telling you to do! You can’t get yourself out of this mess on your own, admit it! You don’t know jack shit about the law whereas she knows it inside and out, back to front! The reason she’s speaks so many languages is because she enjoys being able to communicate with people in their own language!

“But Latin, Tony! Who the hells speaks Latin nowadays?”  Steve threw his arms out in exasperation.

“I do.” Natasha piped up.

Bucky smirked. “So do I. And the population of the Vatican City does.”

“Well unless she represents the Pope it means nothing, Buck!”

Tony grinned. “Well, she doesn’t represent him but she does have his number.”

“How the hell does she have the Pope’s number?” Sam butted in looking completely confused.

“Like I said, Pigeon; it’s Y/N.”

“I don’t trust her in any way, shape or form.” Steve steered the derailed conversation back on track.

“Captain Rogers. You don’t necessarily have to trust her, only her abilities.” Vision spoke for the first time since you had originally arrived.

Steve took a look at everyone’s faces before storming out the room.

… … … … … … … … … … … … … … … … … … … … … … … … … … … … … … … …

You woke up the next morning to papers strewn all across the duvet and you laptop tilted to the side, precariously balancing on your thigh. Groaning and sitting upright, you began mentally preparing yourself for the the day. Today was the day the team was going to have to fill out the paperwork to officially take you on as their attorney and you were going to have to deal with trying to get Steve to sign two documents, since he was the leader of the Avengers as well.

The Avengers were a private organisation that therefore required even more paperwork to sign them on as your client. Jesus, you might just die today.

First things first, breakfast. You silently set about your routine. You whipped your hair up into a bun quickly before applying a natural makeup look, every colour in the nudes apart from a rose tinted lipstick. You shook your hair out  and gently brushed it through; your hair was something you loved about yourself and took great pride in and hence you were very careful when you lightly curled it for the day. Opening the wardrobe, you took out a shirt and skirt that you had unpacked last night from your bag. Sliding into heels you set about gathering up your sheets and organising them into folders, snatching up the laptop and giving yourself a once over.

Yep, you looked ready to take on whatever the day threw at you.

You take that back.

Upon entering the kitchen, you decided that you were going to need a raise. Clint was sat on top of the fridge watching the mayhem unravel with a smile. Natasha and Wanda were sat quietly to one side, Wanda showing Natasha something on her phone. Vision was sort of just hovering by them confused. Peter, Tony, Sam and Scott were in the midst of a very intense food fight. Steve was sat on the sofa to one side drawing, judging by his hand motions. Bruce wasn’t present yet. Rhodey was sat on one of the chairs to the side trying to stop the four but not really putting in effort and T’Challa was finishing up on a phone call before he came to stand by you.

You whistled but to no effect. “I believe the Colonel has already tried that and failed.” The King had traces of humour in his voice. “They remind me of the animals we have back home in Wakanda.”

You smiled at the man. “Wakanda must be stunning, your majesty.”

“Please, Miss L/N, there is no need for titles; you are doing my friends and myself a monumentus deed.”

“In that case, I must ask you to call me Y/N.”

T’Challa smiled at you before giving a brief polite nod. “I’m sure you need to speak to them, yes?”

You nodded in confirmation.

“Then I must suggest that you endeavour to find a way to get them to stop and then listen.”

You grinned. “I have a way. But no one’s going to like it.”

“And why is that?”

“Because it involves the knife attached to your right ankle.”

T’Challa shook his head quietly but nether the less, bent down and retrieved the knife for you. “I must request that you don’t hurt anyone, Y/N.”

“Who said anything about hurting anyone?” You smirked before you spoke.

The knife had barely been in your hand before you threw it in a dead straight line to the other end of the kitchen, cutting through the food fight and burying itself with a loud thud in the cupboard door, next to the fridge. The room went silent in shock, no one moved until their heads turned to you.

“Excuse me!?” Tony shrieked.

“Get over it, Tony; both myself and Colonel Rhodes had tried to get you to stop but nobody listened.” You replied, completely calm with your game face on. “Now here’s what’s going to happen. You four, are going to clean up your mess; Miss Maximoff and Miss Romanoff, you’re both going to go and get dressed; Colonel Rhodes if you could go and get Dr Banner it would be appreciated; Captain Rogers, it would be muchly appreciated if you could go and get Sergeant Barnes for us.”

“No need, Sugar, I’m right here.” Bucky winked at you as he walked in.

“Good morning, Sergeant Barnes.” You smiled politely at the soldier. You quickly fixed you attention back to its previous focus. “Mr Barton please get down from the fridge and pass me the knife back. And Mr Vision please can you help me in the kitchen once the boys are done cleaning up?”

Vision inclined his head. “Of course.”

“Thank you.”

“Bunny."

"Tony.” You replied in the same type of voice.

Tony sighed dramatically before starting to tidy up and everyone jolted into action, following your instructions.

As soon as they had cleaned the counters, you immediately swooped in and began going around the kitchen.

“Mr Vision, where do you keep your bowls and utensils?” You asked as you opened cupboards at random.

“The culinary utensils are in the second draw to your left whilst the bowls are in the bottom cupboard to your right, Miss L/N."

"Please, just call me Y/N.” You smiled as you glanced at him before taking the eggs and milk from the fridge.

“And in return I ask that you just call me Vision."

Grinning, you asked him. "Vision, where do you keep the flour and sugar?”
He once again guided you to what you were looking for.

Before long there were pancakes and waffles cooking away, whilst others were stacked up on plates and cut fruit was in bowls, courtesy of Vision. You were wielding a spatula and kept whacking anyone’s hands that tried to steal any. Moving gracefully around the kitchen, you laid the table and made everybody sit down before laying the food that you had made in the middle of the table as Vision followed with the fruit.

“Do you make breakfast for all your clients then?” Clint asked as everyone dug into the food.

“I don’t normally stay with clients, Mr Barton; it’s that I’ve been working for Tony  a long time and he now insists that I stay with him when I do. And from what I’ve heard none of you can really cook with the exception of a few.” You ate a mouthful of fruit.

“That’s right, Legolas. Bunny’s here enough when she’s doing things for me that I gave her a room about 7 years ago.” Tony piped in, drowning his waffles in syrup.

“Which reminds me…” You trailed off as you pushed your chair back and got up before grabbing the files you had brought with you. “You’re not going to like this but I’ve got paperwork for you. It’s only a bunch of signatures and basic information.”

Groans met your admission.

“So that’s why you made us breakfast!” Peter exclaimed.

You nodded sarcastically. “Well done, Mr Parker. If you want something from someone you have to give them something in return.”

Sam snorted into his coffee as you handed out the folders.

“We’re going to need pens, Miss L/N.” Steve spoke directly to you for the second time since you arrived.

“Who would have known America’s golden boy had sass in him? There are pens in each of the folders if you open them.” Today was so not going as planned and you hadn’t even gone through breakfast yet. “And I’d step to it, Captain Rogers, because you have twice as much than everyone else.”

“And why is that?”

You pouted dramatically at the man.

“I thought you were in charge of the Avengers and that means you have to do all the corporate paperwork as well. And I’m going to have to file it all today so I can get your case going.”

An hour later you were walking out of The Avengers Tower to hail a cab heading for the law firm Hughes and Wood for a day of paperwork.

So, I love how everyone is getting all into the eldritch horror visibly fae knowingly magical encounters. The descriptions are SO COOL.

But I’ve been thinking about how our understandings of the Fair Folk originated not with people who had these super obvious encounters with this visible magic figure. Instead, they come from people attuned to the ways in which this world as it is, is magical and frightening and overwhelming, and decided that eldritch monsters were the most logical and comforting explanation. So, I’ve been thinking a lot about how so many interactions with the fair folx could happen without the student knowing it….how many of these interactions and deals may have happened already. A few true stories: My roommate joined ROTC her freshman year. Four years of university for free, for five years of military service. Don’t tell me that there is just flesh and bone under the glamour of a military uniform, under the medals worn by those who watched her sign her contract. The Fair Folk have always loved games, and to gamble your life in the future of uncertain war is certainly worth $60,000 tuition per year for four years, plus a monthly stipend.  I have a friend whose financial aid is paid by a grant from some folks from New York City. In exchange, once a year she dresses up, takes out her piercings, and goes to dinner with them.

Sit with us, tell us the stories of your studies, sing for us. Oh, you don’t sing anymore? But you sing so lovely. Sing.

At these dinners, she does not let her smile drop.  I worked with a senior who would be Successful. They did everything, could not say no, every opportunity bigger than the last and they could Do It All. Directing a musical with a full orchestra in the biggest theater, performing across town themself in a different show each weekend for months on end, five classes and a thesis. One night, drunk and at 2am, a time were the glamour drops and world blurs into honesty, they said “I am so fucking lonely.” That is a powerful trade: love as fair as can be, a beating heart, community. But they wanted to be able To Do It All and they did.  A few years ago, the school was raising money for the endowment (the school is always raising money for the endowment). They were holding a fundraising dinner, with Big Important People who must be Inspired by Students Like You in order to donate. They gathered together the most talented performers of the whole university. Dancers whose bodies defied physics, pianists who seemed to play with extra hands, singer whose voices rang inhuman. Maybe there is a reason we already had those skills, it’s hard to know. We’ve all made so many sacrifices already to end up at a school where we can get not a single credit for our talents. Maybe something is already taking its due. Still. They gathered us, and planted us through the field to mime silent excitement as the Big Important People entered the tent in a procession. They had us perform for them – but never in the way we do best. Bottle up your talent, make it look like this. Dressed us all head to toe in white. Gave clear instructions.

Hand them this book. Collect these cards. They will write a wish. If they speak to you, just smile. Do not speak back.

They had us wait behind the kitchen.

Whatever you do, do not eat the food.

The university knows how to make a deal. They know what a little Talent and a little Dignity is worth. And we already owe them so much…why not this too?  In the morning I went back to where the tent had been, only to find an empty football field.  —— I feel like I have to add that the last story is literally 100% true. The others I have taken small creative liberties with (mostly the ‘lonely’ one cause I don’t want that person to be identifiable). But this one is hundo percent reality. Nothing I could add about it would make it sound less weird. They set up this crazy huge tent for it and thousands of dollars of lights and projection equipment, and the next morning had taken down the entire thing. They had this whole projection thing that took up a side of the stadium with a video about how great the university is, except I’d never even HEARD OF most of the professors or programs they interviewed or discussed in it (like its a big uni but still). Went to go look them up the next day, but couldn’t remember the names. They had us count a specific number of steps from one section to another. They had us do a weird running pattern on the stadium stairs that was supposed to look cool but I think just opened a portal in to my own personal hell. I still have the white sneakers and sweatshirt they gave us but I legit have not worn them since that night; I’m slightly scared to wear them but somehow can’t throw them out. When the donors walked in to the tent, we literally just stood around the field jumping up and down with excitement (silently) and waving flags (silently) and for the first time I understood Artaudian horror. They had cards at their table that they were supposed to write these messages on, and then we would collect them in these books, and honestly the whole night is pretty hazy but it was weird. The whole thing was directed by Tony Award winner Diane Paulus (I swear to you this is true). Guys I’m low key pretty sure I’ve been to a revel and let me tell you, you are not a participant. You are there, but at best you are quaint entertainment, to be hidden in the corner when you’re not amusing them. You will do what they ask you (tell you). And there will be a part of you sitting on your shoulder saying, are you really doing that? And the answer will be yes, and it won’t be until after you leave that the wave will crash over you, nearly drowning you in the question, as you sputter awake asking, WHAT THE ACTUAL FUCK JUST HAPPENED?

[x]

(something for your way to work? Have a good day!)

So I kinda want Jons first date to be with someone who ISNT Damian. Like he has the biggest crush on Damian in the world, but he thinks its not reciprocated (cause you know damian and feelings). So this cute boy from his high school asks Jon out and Jon agrees. Jon tells Damian and Damian is just SO JEALOUS. Just grinding his teeth to dust jealous. But he can’t complain, or do anything about it. Some other guy just had the guts to tell Jon, “Hey, you’re cute. Wanna get dinner and watch a movie with me?” While Damian can barely manage a nice thing to say to Jon. (even though the thought of Jon laughing or smiling at a dumb joke keeps him up all night). So what does he do? He tells Jon to enjoy his date and that he’ll see him on patrol the night after his date; calling himself a coward the whole time he writes out the message and sends it.

The next day is just a moping Damian. After training and a shower, its just moping all around the manor. Eating breakfast? Full of sighs. In the library? Titus is sitting in his lap and hes curled around his dog, looking out of the window. Listening to music? Sad songs.

“Damian?” Dick asked, carefully removing one of Damians earbuds. Damian grunted. “Everything okay, bud?”

“Peachy, why do you ask?”

“You seem…off.” Dick said careful of his words.

“’M fine.” Damian grumbled, taking his earbud back.

Tim comes strolling in with some tea for Damian, and ruffles his hair. “Jon’s going on a date because poor Damian here can’t sort out his feelings like the rest of us.“

“How do you know?” Dick asked

“Kon told me.” Tim answered, typing something on his phone. “I told him that i’m gonna sabotage his little brothers date.”

Dick perked up and was about to open his mouth until he heard a gun getting loaded. “WE’RE NOT GONNA KILL HIM, JASON.”

“Damnit.”

Stephanie comes skipping in with some pictures, “his name is Clay. What an unattractive name, CLAY. Like Ew. Put a face after that and you have a villain name.
ANYWAYS. Cute kid. Gray eyes, blonde hair. He’s on the basketball team. So if Mad Dog Jason gets out, make sure he doesnt break his wrist.” Stephanie relays all of this information while stroking Damians hair. Damian would normally hiss and growl and promise her demise, but today he just lets his head rest on her hip. (Damian ofc cant hear anything. He just thinks his siblings + steph are just keeping him company)

“Fuck you, Steph.”

“Don’t you wish, honey.”

So it’s friday night. Jon and Clay are at a diner. (Damian is patrolling with batman. B notices that Robin is a little more aggressive tonight than normal)

Jay steals Clays wallet making Jon pay for everything.Jon doesnt mind. Hes just a little annoyed cause Clay said it was his treat.

Since Jay still has Clays wallet, Jon also has to pay for the movie tickets.

Anytime the other boy wants to touch Jon, hand over shoulder holding his hand Dick shocks him.

Jon is miserable. This was a shit date. Why did he even come? Even during dinner he realized they had nothing in common besides sports, and the fact they’re in AP Calculus. And they’re not even on the same sports team! (Jons in baseball) Every conversation he had with him was an absolute bore, He seemed so charming in school! Jon sighed as they finally pulled into the driveway to his house in metropolis.

“Sorry about tonight! I guess, I just wasn’t on my game.” Clay laughs. Jon tried not to cringe at yet another sports reference.

“We all have our off days.” Jon smiles, ready to put this dumb date behind him.

Clay holds his hand, and Jon finds himself desperately wishing that it was someone else holding his hand. Someone hes trying to get over. Someone whos too tied down to crime fighting. Someone whos passionate about animals and art and literature and his city.

“Thanks for being so understanding.” Clay says leaning forward. Jon found himself leaning forward too. The hell with it, maybe at least the kissing will make up for this lousy excuse of a date.

Tim hacks the boys car before his and Jons lips touched, making the car alarm go off in the dead of night. The batboys tried not to snicker, that would tip off a certain someones super hearing.

Jon grits his teeth and get out of the car. “Thanks for the ride.” He calls over his shoulder and retreats into his house.

Jon sees his mom waiting up for him in the living room. “Hey, honey.” Jon super speed runs to her and plops himself on her lap.

“Im taking your date went bad?”

“Oh you have no idea.” he mumbled into her lap, holding her closer.

“Think of it this way, this just sets the bar for all of your other dates!” Lois said, carding her fingers through her sons thick black hair.

“Mom, anything lower than this would be my date not showing up. And honestly, that’s still probably better than tonight.“

Lois had to laugh at that.

"I dated the captain of the basketball team when I was your age too.”

“Howd it go?”

“God awful. He ran off with god knows who in the middle of our date. I had to walk home myself.”

“What happened after that?”

“I started dating your father.”

“Think he asked batman to scare the other guy off?”

Lois laughed at that. “Somehow, I dont doubt it."

Lois pressed a kiss to Jons cheek and went off to bed. He could hear his Dads thunderous snores as she opened the door to their bedroom.

Jon pulled out his phone and sent a quick text to Damian.

Worst date ever, and it was my first one. Tell you about it on patrol tomorrow. Night!

Damian opened the message as he waited for the GCPD to pick up the would be bank robbers he just busted. A big smile spread across his cheeks. Looks like Damian will get his second chance soon.

BONUS: when Batman and robin strolled into the cave, Tim, Jason, and Dick were all napping in random spots with their suits on.

"They didn’t tell me they went on patrol.” Batman frowned. The pieces clicked into place for Damian rather quickly. He had to hide a smile from his father. He also made a mental note of finding out ways to thank his brothers.

@desolationofzara OMG I LOVE THIS SO MUCH! And i legit laughed out loud, thank you so much darling!

Light Up the Ice - Chapter 1

Summary: Aelin Galathynius has never really been into sports. Yes, she likes to keep in shape, and she works out, but watching people run up and down a field, trying to keep a leather ball away from each other? It’s always seemed a bit childish to her, and decidedly NOT a way for a grown adult to make a living.

Rowan Whitethorn has recently been drafted by the Terresen Staghorns, one of best teams in the EHL (Erilean Hockey League). And since he moved to Terresen from Wendlyn, it’s been hard for him to get more than 30 seconds alone from someone demanding a picture with him. Getting drafted straight out of college wasn’t exactly what he had in mind, but he’s not complaining. Until he accidentally meets a girl. More specifically, until he accidentally meets his neighbor. She seems to have no idea who he is and for some reason, that’s refreshing. But will she still want to be with him once he shows her the truth?

Author’s Note: Well, friends, here we are! My newest multi-chapter has begun! This is a spinoff of my one-shot Missed Dreams and Lost Sleep which, if you haven’t read, I suggest you read it before you dive into this one! You can find it HERE! I’ve been bouncing this idea off of @tacmc for about a month at this point and I am so excited to share it with you guys! Enjoy!

Keeping his feet moving was the only thing that kept Rowan Whitethorn from falling asleep on the ice. He harshly tapped his stick on the ice, letting his teammate know he was open for a pass.  The puck glided across the ice to the other side, and he skated around the back of the net, changing his position to where he was supposed to be next.

He danced around the edge of goal, staying out of the way of the goalie and was ready, waiting. He didn’t see the stick of the defensemen in front of him, however, and his skate got tangled up in it.

He hit the ice, shoulder first, taking the other player’s stick with him and groaned. Before he could make a move to get back on his feet, he got hit in the chest with the puck. Hard.

Gasping and resting on his hands and knees, he heard the whistle blow.

“Whitethorn!” He looked up, finding Coach Brello skating through the neutral zone. “Where the hell is your head today?”

He made it back to his feet and winced as he rubbed at his chest through the thick pads. Ress retrieved his stick from the ice by his feet and clapped him on the shoulder.

Everyone knew Brello was fair, but he was harsh when it came to slacking off on the ice, whether that was at practice or during a game.

“Just didn’t get a lot of sleep last night, coach,” he said, standing to his full height of 6’4. “My building had a false fire alarm and we were all evacuated for most of the night. I’m here, I promise. It won’t happen again.”

“I’m sorry to hear that. Let me make sure you can get some sleep tonight.” Almost as one, the entire team turned to glare at him. “Speed backchecks, let’s go! Line up!”

There were quiet grumbles as everyone skated to the other side. Rowan’s line sidled up beside him.

Lorcan, the Terrasen Staghorns’ captain, and Rowan’s left defenseman glared down at him. “Getting real sick of running drills thanks to assholes who can’t do their job at practice.”

Fenrys, his right winger, snorted from Rowan’s other side. “Says the one who caused us to run puck control drills for forty-five minutes last week because you bounced the Valg’s captain’s head off the ice.”

“He deserved it. He was playing dirty.” The sentence was more growl than it was words.

Gavriel, his right d-man, said under his breath, “If you don’t both shut up, coach will have us running a lot more than just backchecks.”

As the whistle blew and Lorcan and Gavriel took off towards the puck at the center of the ice, Fenrys nudged him. “You sure you didn’t finally get some last night?” There was a gleam in his dark eyes. “Didn’t finally sample some of the sweet things Terrasen has to offer?”

He turned away so the fastest forward in the EHL wouldn’t see the blush attempting to creep onto his already flushed face. “No, man, I wasn’t with anyone last night.”

Lie. It was an outright lie, but only because Fenrys was talking about spending some time in the bedroom. He didn’t say anything about the front lawn of his building or the diner down the road.

The whistle blew, alerting them that Lorcan netted the puck. He and Fenrys took off, having to go 2x2 until one of the pairs scored. They hadn’t lined up fairly, and Rowan planned to use that to his advantage. Two forwards against two d-men would typically be pretty evenly matched, but with Fenrys’ speed and Rowan’s puck handling, they would make quick work of their captain and alternate.

Fenrys beat him to the puck – unsurprisingly – and passed it to Rowan as he made to curve behind Gavriel. He chipped it with his stick, sending it around Gavriel, who expected it to skirt in front of his skates. Lorcan anticipated it though and had fallen back, ready for the forward to charge ahead. Fenrys wrapped behind the net and with expert skill, Rowan sent the puck to him and fell back. Lorcan had to decide, keep an eye on Rowan or keep Fenrys from netting the puck.

He chose wrong.

Turning to press Fenrys, the puck slid to Rowan’s waiting stick. Rearing back, with a crack that filled the empty arena, he sent the puck flying towards the goal. It caught in the netting and the goal horn blew.

“Looks like Mr. Whitethorn finally decided to show up for practice,” Brello hollered from the box where he and the assistant coach were manning the horn controls. He glanced at his watch. “Next line, reset the puck and go. They completed the full drill in less than 50 seconds. If you cross a minute, you’ll be running drive drills until my wife gets home from work.”

The entire team knew that Brello wasn’t married.

Skating over to the benches, the first line grabbed their bottles. Rather than drinking his, Rowan sprayed the water over his face and neck, shaking his silver hair out.

“Good misdirect, Rowan,” Gavriel, said, one leg swung over the wall separating the ice from the bench.

As he nodded his thanks, Lorcan said, “Use that against Red Desert tomorrow night and they’ll have no idea what direction you’re coming from.”

The rest of practice flew by. Rowan tried to keep his mind on the game, on practice, but his mind kept drifting back to last night. Back to the laughs that he’d shared with her; to the 24-hour diner she’d shown him down the street; to when he’d stood outside her door this morning and asked if he could call her and she’d said no, temporarily causing him to think back through the whole night. Had he been that far off on how she’d been looking at him? When she’d said he could just knock on her door and then shut said door in his face, a devilish smirk on those lips, he couldn’t do anything but stare. And then smiled as he headed to his own door down the hall.

Pulling his phone out of his bag, he saw it was just after 5:30. People with real world jobs would just be getting off work now, so maybe he could catch her just as she was getting home. Maybe they could grab dinner. As he sat down in the locker room to take off his skates, that plan went out the window.

“Kennedy brothers, Whitethorn, Bourne.” He glanced up to see Brello holding a clipboard. He suppressed a groan. “I want you clocking another 3 hours in the gym tonight. Do it here, do it at home. Hell, do it at Planet Fitness for all I care. But I want at least an hour of cardio, an hour of free weights and an hour of bands. The rest of you rest up. I’ll see you at 10:30 for pre-game ice time tomorrow.”

Knowing that Bourne lived in a fancy high-rise with a gym and the Kennedy boys had a gym at home, Rowan elected to use the facilities gym. It wasn’t often he could work out in solitude. His morning run was the closest he got, but only because he was up before the rest of the city was.

Since he’d been drafted by the Terrasen Staghorns, it had been nearly impossible for him to get more than 30 seconds alone before someone noticed him, but so was the life of a professional hockey player in the Erilean Hockey League.

Coming from Wendlyn, he knew nobody here, yet everyone seemed to know him. Luckily, a few of his teammates – specifically, his new line –  hailed from the same lands, and he’d gotten in tight with them. They were now a force to be reckoned with, a perfect line of offense and defense and it was almost as if they had one thought process running throughout them.

That’s one reason that the girl from last night had been stuck on his mind. She looked at him like he was just a normal person, not a professional athlete. He wasn’t sure if she was very good at ignoring the obvious or if she genuinely didn’t know who he was.

Stripping out of his pads and putting on an old shirt from his days at the University of Doranelle, he tied the laces on his shoes and made his way to the gym. Might as well get this over with if he had any hope of seeing her again tonight.

Pulling the door open to her coffee shop, Aelin attempted to fight off a yawn. The little bell tied to the knob jingled, alerting Lysandra that there was someone coming in.

“Goooooood morning, boss, slash best friend, slash person who I love more than anyone else on this planet.” The dark-haired vixen called from behind the counter.

“Hey,” came a male voice from beside the door; Aelin’s cousin, Aedion.

She pointed a wet rag from where she’d been wiping down the counters in his direction. “Hush up. You don’t make my schedule.”

Aelin looked from her cousin back to her best friend, yawned, and said, “Somebody is obviously about to ask for another day off.”

“Blame him!” Lysandra said, pointing to Aedion, who immediately set his cup down and held his hands up in the universal gesture for I didn’t do anything. “He got tickets to the hockey game tomorrow night and wants me to go with him.”

Aelin fought the urge to roll her eyes and headed behind the counter. Lysandra handed her a cup of black coffee and she walked towards her office, sipping the sweet nectar as she unlocked the door. “I just don’t understand why you’d want to pay to watch a bunch of grown men play a child’s game.”

Aedion had stood and followed her into the back office Aelin used as her base of operations. He dropped a few envelopes on her desk and Aelin immediately began to open them, yawning again. Bills, ads, and teenage resumes; the usual mail she received. “Children don’t beat the shit out of each other when they play,” he said. “These guys do. It’s awesome.”

“Ooh.” The sarcasm lacing Aelin’s tone as she threw the sales flyers in the trash was evident.

“Come on, Aes,” he said, sitting in the chair in front of her desk. “My boss gave them to me because he can’t go. I really think Lys would have fun. Please?”

Turquoise and gold eyes met across the desk. Looking at her cousin, his bottom lip jutted out like a petulant child, she rolled her eyes. “Of course, I’ll let her have the night off. I’ll just cover the barista shift tomorrow night. It’s not a big deal.”

Aedion jumped up and ran around the desk, planting a loud kiss on his cousin’s cheek. Aelin pushed him away as she fought off another yawn.

“Okay, that’s the fourth time you’ve yawned since you stepped foot in the door,” Lysandra said, leaning on the frame of the doorway separating the office from the front of the Staghorn Café. “What’s up?”

Aedion turned and looked her up and down. “You didn’t finally get laid, did you?”

“Ugh, Aedion,” Aelin groaned. “You’re practically my brother. You don’t get to ask things like that.”

“Yeah, Aedion,” Lysandra said, smacking him on the shoulder and plopping into the seat he had just vacated. “But I’m the best friend, so I do. Who’s the lucky guy?”

Letting her head fall into her hands, she said, “I did not finally get laid.” She put emphasis on finally since so were they. It had only been 3 months since she and Chaol decided they just didn’t work as a couple. They were actually great friends now, his current girlfriend working as Aelin’s baker, filling her shop with the delicious scents of freshly baked bread and pastries. She and Nesryn got along surprisingly well, considering the awkward way they knew each other.

“The fire alarm got pulled in the building at, like, three this morning. I had to sit on the front lawn until the sun rose and they cleared the building for us to go back in. I’m just tired, that’s all.”

“So there wasn’t a guy involved?” Aedion asked, and the tips of Aelin’s ears involuntarily turned pink as she thought about him.

Lysandra squealed and shoved Aedion out the door. “Man the counter, babe.” She slammed the door in his face and sat back in front of the desk, her green eyes huge as she waited for Aelin to fill her in. A muffled “I don’t even work here!” could be heard through the door. Lysandra sat, waiting.

Aelin couldn’t stop the smile that broke across her face, causing Lysandra to squeal again. “It was him, wasn’t it? Your neighbor?”

“Rowan,” was all Aelin said, and Lysandra cried, “You got his name?!”

So Aelin gave her the quick recap of the night, from waking up to the alarm screeching to turning around and seeing Rowan in nothing but boxer-briefs, to watching the sunrise and grabbing breakfast from Emrys’ Diner down the block. By the time Aelin finished, she could tell Lysandra was already trying to decide what kind of dress she should wear as the maid-of-honor in their wedding. Her green eyes were wide and she asked, “What’s his last name?”

Aelin opened her mouth and then closed it. Somehow, she hadn’t gotten it last night. They’d mostly talked about trivial things; movies they liked, their favorite breakfast foods, the path Aelin normally took when she was running.

“I’m not sure,” Aelin said honestly.

“You have to find out! What if it’s like “Johnson” or “Peters” or,” she gasped. “Cox?”

Rolling her eyes, Aelin pointed towards the door. “Out. You can have tomorrow night off. Enjoy watching the man-children ‘beat the shit out of each other’,” she said, quoting Aedion.

Blowing a kiss across the desk, Lysandra jumped up and ran back out front.

Yawning, Aelin took another long drag of her coffee.

She was exhausted. She hadn’t gotten to run this morning or take a shower or even start her laundry from the night before. But it was worth it.

Glancing at the time on her computer, she saw it was 11:45 in the morning. She wouldn’t be home until nearly 10:00 that night. Hopefully, he wouldn’t stop by when she wasn’t home. Hopefully, if he did, he wouldn’t take her lack of answer as a lack of interest.

Hopefully, she’d be seeing him again tonight.

A Matter of Time

Summary: (Soulmate Timer AU) Steve awoke with a start. A baseball game was playing softly on the radio. He sat up, incredibly disoriented. He looked to his right arm. 3 Years, 84 Days, 2 Hours, 0 Minutes, 5 Seconds. He’d woken up 70 years in the future.

It was a surprise for Mr. and Mrs. Rogers, when on July 4, 1918, their son Steven was born with ‘95 Years, 14 days, 10 hours, 22 Minutes 35 seconds’ on his forearm. Steven Grant Rogers, sickly boy that he was, wouldn’t even meet his soulmate until well into old age.

Steve did his best to not let it bother him. Ever the optimist, he believed that it just meant that whoever he would meet in 75 years would be so special, they’d wait their whole lives to find one another.

Bucky had a different outlook. As one of the rare few without a timer, James Buchanan Barnes was basically the definition of ‘playboy.’ He saw it as 75 years for Steve to be with whoever the hell he wanted without having to settle down. The two friends weren’t really that alike when it came to matters of the heart.

Both philosophies faded into the background when they entered the war. Steve gave up the theories of finding love in favor of striving to survive. After the serum, Steve had more women (and some men) throwing themselves at him than he’d ever thought would.

The only person he even thought he might have a shot with was Peggy, but after Bucky fell he was far too consumed by his grief to do anything. As his timer slowly ticked downwards, he fought the good fight. His last hopes were winking out as he flew the plane into the ice.
