Uhm sorry for this dumb question, but why do you find that panel exciting?
Well the biggest question is first if this translation (x) is accurate. Kaneki called his group Goat after his fav book the black goat’s egg and there’s also the early quote “The bird fights its way out of the egg. The egg is the world. Who would be born must first destroy a world.” Ishida’s manga is full with foreshadowing here and there. The way the story is going right now it does not feel like Goat will reach their goal. What had been actually Goat’s goal? “Create a world where ghouls and humans understand each other”, but if “a goat is not a bird”. Then this goal won’t be reached. Goat won’t break the bird cage.
But right now even Kaneki himself showed in his conversation with Takizawa/Amon that he’s not confident enough and does not see himself as a good leading figure.
He’s currently not fighting for ghoul rights in general , but more for the people around him for which he himself cares about and most of that are ghouls…..Well we will see there’s still room for development. i liked the theory that maybe the final suprise will be not having the main male char as the king because it’s always other people who push him into new roles and he’s still depressed etc
Relief was the last emotion Rey could’ve felt. How could she believe anything he said? She seethed with anger at him, desperate to tear the man’s mask off and hammer it into his skull. He regarded her with the same cold metallic expression. “You still want to kill me.”
“That happens when you’re being hunted by a creature in a mask.”
He held her stare, and then his gloved hands touched the sides of the mask and took it off.
He had a young man’s face, with an old man’s eyes. His lips and dark hair stood out agains the pale complexion of one who shirked the sun. He looked like a student who took no joy in his studies. One who perceived only the great problems of the galaxy and not its simple pleasures.
