1, 6, 24, 36!!
1. What was the last movie you watched in a theater?
Rogue One, which was definitely worth seeing on a huge screen. I have a huge soft spot and a lot of nostalgia for Star Wars, and they’ve really upped their game with this and with TFA. The visuals are just stunning in this one, and the ending tore my heart out and stomped on it.
6. Your best experience going to the movies:
I ADORE drive ins. My favorite is this creepy tiki-themed drive-in that doubles as a swap meet during the weekend, which is about my level of sophistication. I love the double feature, the cheap prices, tuning in to the right frequency, feeling the breeze…
24. Favorite comedy?
Oh man, I can’t just pick one, so I’m going with two very different styles of comedy. I love Wallace and Gromit: Curse of the Were-Rabbit for the amazing visual gags, the wordplay, the way it manages to be funny without being overly mean, and the sheer weirdness of it all. It’s definitely influenced the way I write humor. On the other hand, I’ve been on a big Coen brothers’ kick lately, and I also really love the dark, absurd humor of Fargo. This dialogue-free scene is one of my favorites of all time.
36. Favorite remake?
Hmm. I haven’t seen this one in years, so it’s very possible it’s not all that good, but I have a lot of nostalgia for The Parent Trap with Lindsay Lohan playing both twins–I think that was her breakout role? Also the soundtrack is good.
