this entire interview

Chapter 17: Episode 1

I spent so much time at the office, it was starting to feel like a second home. The biggest problem was we were down three staff members. That meant I had to hold interviews. The entire process was absolutely horrible. I was accustomed to being on the other side of the desk, but I have to say, the grass isn’t always greener.

Doing interviews during working hours meant staying afterwards to do my paperwork. I’d already cancelled dinner plans with Roen twice over the past week, but he seemed understanding enough. After all, this was his job. I was starting to get the hang of things, but there’s always that one curveball.

There was a knock at my door as the shift lurched to a close, but having spent my lunchtime watching Chelle vacuum the floor… and the couch cushions, and the wall, and whatever the hell else I could find that needed vacuuming… I was really rather giddy.

“Come in,” I called, looking up from a particularly adorable YouTube video about clumsy penguins (what? all work and no play makes Laney a very dull girl). My gaze leveled on Klein and I smiled widely, but his expression put me off. Klein wasn’t really one to look sad, and I wouldn’t say that he was sad now, just… down. “Hey,” I said, reeling myself in a little. “What’s up?”

“I need to request time off.”

           Right to the point then.

those eyes (and eyelashes) should be made illegal tbh

Jack: When I was at school my friend, we both did art, and he really wanted to do a drawing of his girlfriend naked. But he figured he’d only be allowed to do a drawing of his girlfriend naked if he also did a drawing of a bloke naked as well. So it would look like a legitimate art project…. (x)
