Yay! The first part of my new Nessian series! This will be a seven part fic and will have a couple aesthetic boards to go with it.
Fun Fact: The setting for this fic is a real place that I have been to and took pictures of for the aesthetics. Everything about it is 100% true except for the mountains (which I added because Illyrians).

Nesta checks her phone again, squinting as she tries to understand the directions the stupid GPS app is telling her. She is pretty sure that it is completely wrong. After all, the last town is twenty miles back, and all around her are corn fields, with a small mountain range situated behind them. The road she is currently driving on is paved, but has many potholes, and the closest neighbors are several kilometers apart. Surely her late Aunt Ripleigh - who had loved to talk all day if she had an audience - wouldn’t want to live all the way out here in the middle of nowhere.
Of course, that may as well have been Nesta’s city heart talking. She could never imagine staying in a place like this for a long period of time, corn fields surrounding you, the sun beating down constantly. As it is, she has the air conditioning blasting in her car and the humidity is still getting to her hair. Not that she has anyone to impress. Nesta briefly feels a bit grateful for a week with no one around. Maybe she won’t even do her makeup while she’s staying here. Wherever here is.
As she continues to drive down the dull, straight road, Nesta once again curses the circumstances that put her here. Of course, she has no one to blame, because she can’t very well blame her dead great aunt for naming her in her will. Although Nesta fiercely wants to be angry that Aunt Ripleigh had decided that she should be the one given the farm house at the base of a mountain.

Today, three days ahead of BLACKPINK’s comeback, the title of the team’s new song has been unveiled. On June 19 in the morning, YG Entertainment released a teaser image of the complete team of BLACKPINK on the company’s official blog. The image shows the title of BLACKPINK’s new song, which goes “As If It’s Your Last”.
According to an YG insider, BLACKPINK’s new single to be released on the 22 this month includes a singular song. BLACKPINK released two songs in each of the “SQAURE” series single albums released in August and November last year. BLACKPINK’s new song “As If It’s Your Last” is kind of a surprise gift for fans who have loved BLACKPINK, which is given during the period for the team to prepare for “SQUARE THREE” album.

What is composition and why Tumblr needs to stop its love affair with the Golden Ratio
If you’ve been on Tumblr longer than ten minutes then chances are you’ve seen a post about how some movie or TV show is so well done and looks so good because of the Golden Ratio.
However, 99.9% of the time I see these posts, they aren’t actually utilizing composition correctly. So I’m going to tell you how to properly find composition:
1) so that you can be smug to your friends so you can gain more knowledge and spread it wide
2) I can stop wanting to rip my hair out every time I see the Golden Ratio on literally anything now
Lets start with what you’re doing wrong.
There’s a popular post on Tumblr about Mad Max: Fury Road. Here’s a sample of some of their photo evidence:

And it’s definitely not how the Golden Ratio works.
See the thing about a ratio and composition is that it has to be uniform. The Golden Ratio works when it takes up the entirety of the frame. Neither of these (nor any of the photos in that set) are actual examples of good composition through the Golden Ratio because the ratio itself has been warped to conform to prove a point that didn’t actually need proving.
That’s not to say Mad Max isn’t an example of good composition, it definitely is, but y’all are hung up on the Golden Ratio so much you don’t even realise there are a million other composition rules that you didn’t even realise that you’re seeing.
Firstly, this is how the Golden Ratio actually works:

Because the Golden Ratio itself is all about numbers and math more than anything. Which is why this is pretty much where my understanding of how it works technically stops because I majored in film not math or art history. Here’s some actual examples of how that translates to film, though:
It’s not so much about the spiral as it is about the composition of the image and the ratio on the screen.
“But wait” you’re saying “you said there are other rules in composition we’re not taking into account. What are they?” The first rule of composition you learn in film school and the most common rule followed is called the Rule of Thirds. Here’s some examples of it:
You’re literally breaking up the frame into nine equal segments to draw the viewers eye to the places you want them to go and you’re offsetting everything from the middle because putting anything in the middle of the frame just doesn’t feel right to the viewer (although obviously this rule can be broken for several different reasons). In these two images, you’re giving your subjects breathing room and following their line of sight to a logical place.
“I thought you said there were a million composition rules. How come you’re only talking about two?” You’re right, I did say that, and it’s absolutely true, but this post is already way longer than it should be and there’s no way I could cover all of them right now. However, the Rule of Thirds is the most common and now you know how to look for it AND now you can stop misusing the Golden Ratio and really take a look at the Fibonacci Squares and how they work to a film makers advantage.
As for the Mad Max images? Well, the first one is definitely the Rule of Thirds, and the second one follows the rule for Leading Lines and manipulated the depth of the image to its advantage. The movie is very well composed, just not in the way y’all seem to think it is.
Without You (Steve Rogers Imagine - Short One Shot)
Hey guys! So this is my first attempt at a Steve Rogers imagine. I kind of found myself playing with an idea and wanted to try it out.
Just as an FYI, this is a bit all over the place. I was really impatient and wanted to try out a bunch of different things at the same time because I have no restraint. Lol.
I wanted to make it longer… but I kind of liked how it ended… hehe. I think later on I’m going to play with more Steve stuff!

Alright folks, I’m going to teach you how to do a pretty cool party trick using only the power of your minds: Squaring large numbers!
No? doesn’t sound impressive? Well, ok then, don’t learn the cool thing. Move along, dummy.
Still here? Ok cool! So, pretty much everyone learned their times tables, so your 1 digit squares are already learned. But can you do 2 digits? 3 digits? 4 DIGITS!? You will when I’m done with you! So lets go!
2 DIGIT SQUARES!
Ok, take your number, lets say 23, and think about it like what squaring a number means; 23^2 is just 23*23. Now, round one number to the nearest 10, as in 23 rounds down by 3 to 20. Then, move the other number the opposite way by the same amount, as in 23 up by 3 to 26. Now you have 26*20, which is SO MUCH EASIER. 26*2 is 52, *10 is 520. Now you just have to bring that number you shifted by earlier back in, square it, and add it to the end. We shifted by 3, 3^2 is 9, so our total is 529.
or maybe try 86. You have to round that up by 4 to get to 90, so the other 86 goes down by 4 to 82. 90*82 is 7380, then toss a 16 (ya know, 4^2), and you have 7396.
But what if it ends in a 5? Save your ass some time and brain juice and do this quick trick: take the tens place and multiply it by the next bigger number and throw a 25 at the end. 55? 5*6=30, 3025. Done. 75? 7*8=56, 5625.
And of course 2 digits ending in 0 are just the one digit square with 00 at the end, but, I mean, if you can do this in your head you knew that.
Anyways, you need to master this 2 digit process to do the rest of the harder ones, because you use this to simplify them. Work smarter, not harder, right?
3 DIGIT SQUARES!
So it’s tempting to want to square three digit numbers as (abc*abc) but then the longhand gets really jumbled. Don’t bother, cut that shit down to (ab*ab) and make the first two digits into one! Instead of doing, say, 523^2 as (500+20+3)^2, you could just do (500+23)^2 because we already know what 23^2 is! Here’s the process we’re going to use:
our number won’t be longer than 8 digits, so picture this: 0000 0000. See the gap? Square your first two digits and put it to the right of the gap, square the third digit and put it to the left. So 523 will look like 0025 0529. Remember those two numbers. How? Hold on, we need to learn something else!
MNEMONIC MAJOR SYSTEM!
make those numbers WORDS! Words are easier to store in your brain. Numbers use short term memory and you have a limit of about 7 objects and your short term memory is always purging. Convert the numbers to words and you an use your parietal lobe and lock that shit away in long term memory.
0 = s and z sounds, like Zero 1 = t and d sounds. 1 and t/d have straight spines 2 = n, because one bump 3 = m, because 2 bumps 4 = r, like fouR 5 = l, kinda hard but thing roman number 50 is L. 6 = sh, ch, soft g, j, all those sounds you push through clenched teeth. 7 = k and hard g. 7 and K are both sharp and angular. 8 = f and v. 8 looks like a cursive f. 9 = p and b. P and b both have a line and a bump like a 9.
You can use these to make words to store away your numbers. Our 523 process above has 25 0529. That’s “anal sail nub”. Now you can memorize that hilarious phrase, possibly with a little image with it, and move on to the next step.
3 DIGIT SQUARE, PART DEUX.
We have “anal sail nub” stored away, so now we multiply the two numbers together and double them. 5*23=115, *2=230. Drop 230 right in the middle of our number (00here00), 00023000. Then we bring the rest back. Nub, N,B, 29, 00023029. Sail, S,L, 05, 00023529. Anal, N,L, 25,00273529. 273,529!
You keeping up? Brain hurt? Well hold on, because we’re not done yet! Do you have the brain power to add one more digit!?
FOUR DIGIT SQUARES!
Do the same thing as the 3 digit, but 2 sets of 2 digit squares. (1000a+100b+10c+d)^2 becomes (100a+b)^2. Lets use 9523 as the example. Start with 95 and 23. 95^2 is 9025 and 23^2 is 529. Make number blocks 9025 0529. Menmonic major statements “Pez Anal” and “Sail Nub” committed to memory. Move on to 95*23, but make like easy and do 100*23 and then just take 5*23 away, 2300-115=2185. Double it, 4370. Stick it in the middle, 00437000. Recall “Sail Nub”, S,L,N,B, 0529, 00437529. Recall “Pez Anal”, P,Z,N,L, 9025, 90687529. 90,687,529!
Alright, no go impress people at parties, because I know you guys go to the good parties where this is totally something that impresses people…. right?
