Zayn Malik’s new album ‘shows a lot of growth’

Leaving One Direction wasn’t easy for Zayn Malik, who officially parted ways with the band in 2015 to pursue a solo career. But the decision has worked out well for him so far: His first album, Mind of Mine, debuted at No. 1 and was positively reviewed by critics, including EW’s Leah Greenblatt, who called the record “a smoothly inclusive survey in modern R&B” in her B+ review. And while his new record will retain that sound, it’s also a step in a different, ahem, direction.

“It wasn’t easy making that decision and having the courage to step out first and make a record,” RCA Records CEO Peter Edge, who worked with Malik on the yet-to-be-titled new collection, tells EW. “This album has a more optimistic tone to it after coming through that more challenging time. It shows a lot of growth.”

That tone is apparent on first single “Still Got Time,” a dancehall-inspired jam featuring rapper PARTYNEXTDOOR. “If you think about the lyrics,” Edge points out, “it’s talking about how it’s great to be young and knowing you’ve still got time to do everything you want to do in life.”

And making music is what Malik wants to be doing — competition be damned: Since dropping “Still Got Time” March 24, three other former One Direction members have also unveiled their own solo releases. While Malik veers toward R&B, Harry Styles has gravitated toward classic rock, Niall Horan’s two songs lean acoustic folk-rock, and Liam Payne’s debut goes the hip-hop route.

“While we’re conscious of what everybody else is doing, I think we’re on the page that we just have to get on with releasing the music,” Edge says. “Everybody is going to coexist. What’s emerging is that there are different musical styles that each member is getting into.”

“Zayn just wants to make his music and do what he does,” Edge continues before explaining that this new album will be more personal and less producer-driven. “I think he definitely wants a lot of himself in there, and I think that’s what the last record had — it maybe even gave people more insight than they thought they were going to get.”

Malik’s album doesn’t have a release date yet, but it’s expected to arrive this year. Hear “Still Got Time” above.

How to Document Your Divination Sessions

This is from my old blog, @shipping-the-gods

Hey guys! :D

So I talk a lot about journalling your divination sessions, but never really expand on what that means. A major reason is because here are so many ways to do it! :D This is my personal method of journalling. Feel free to use it, take a pieces of it, gather inspiration from it, or throw it out the window! :)

This a template for you to go off of and doesn’t have to be followed at all ^_^

Heading: Type of Divination Used

Date: 12/12/12

Time spent: Minutes/hours/etc.

Symbols seen/cards drawn/etc: Write it all down. Everything.

Feelings about the above: Write down what you feel about it, what energy comes along with it.

Other senses used: Sometimes smells, sounds, etc. come along. jot it down.

Immediate interpretation: What you think it means all put together

After thoughts: what you think it means after some thought and time goes by.

What happened: Was the reading accurate? Did the events occur?

Other notes/observations: whatever else you feel should be added.

Did the reading go well: Yes/No/Unsure

Do you trust this method of divination: Yes/No/Unsure

So that’s my way of doing it! :D Good luck!

Autistic Todoroki Shouto.

This is my analysis of Todoroki’s autistic behavior and why I strongly headcanon him to be autistic. I will be using pictures from the manga to back my arguments up. This got a bit out of hand, length-wise, so i’m going to put in under a read-more!

you and me and this joy of ours

Summary: “Hey now,” says Peter. “We may be totally in over our heads, here, but we’re not alone. We got – we got Drax, and Groot – he’ll be great with a baby, I know he will – and Rocket, mostly sort of, and, uh, Mantis and – is your sister gonna drop by soon?”

“Peter.”

“Listen,” he says. “Gamora, listen – we’ll just … if everything else goes to shit, at least it’ll know that we love it. Okay?”

i think we all know by this point that im incapable of getting excited about any sort of media content without inevitably writing absurdly-long kidfic for it (as it is it’s almost 50 pages long and there are DELETED SCENES), so let’s skip past the pleasantries & get to business!!!! the general disclaimer is that if u are uncomfortable with a five year old child existing in the general vulgarity & craziness that is the gotg canon environment, then u probably should not read this fic. that being said, i promise that this kid is well-cared-for and very very loved, despite being raised in a bit of an … unorthodox situation? and i think that was my whole motivation to write this, too – to a) explore a reality where the least conventional parenting u’ve ever seen isn’t necessarily unsuccessful or harmful, and b) explore further gotg’s surprisingly insightful threads of breaking the cycle of abuse, bc once the cycle is broken it doesnt necessarily mean that there isnt still going to be lots of emotional baggage and confusion, even after years of healing. ofc, gotg is a very un-serious light-hearted franchise despite all its kinda depressing content – seriously, dudes, almost every single character in this crew has either been abused as a child or suffered some kind of intense trauma or both, lord above james gunn – BUT. the light tone and silliness allows for an exploration of these ideas without things getting too upsetting or dark, and hopefully that’s worked out here! finally, huge thanks to @taxicabsandcupcakes for giving me SO much helpful feedback, and to @spideys-underoos for being there at the beginning of it all. enjoy!

“D’you think the sky has feelings?”

There’s not that long of a pause before Uncle Drax answers, looking up at the clear glass dome above their heads with her.

“I was not aware,” he says seriously, in that funny deep voice of his, “that the sky was a sentient entity. It would be greatly amusing to meet it in person.”

Meredith gasps, looking down at him with eyes so wide that she thinks they just might pop right out of her head.

“You mean the sky’s a person?” The awe in Meredith’s voice is very real, and she lets go of his shoulder and smacks her palms against her cheeks, like she once saw a lady do on Knowhere after some guy barfed in her lap.

Meredith didn’t know that personhood is a thing you needed to have feelings. She just figured that when the sky turns all sorts of funky colours, it must mean something, like feelings, ‘cause Daddy’ll say stuff like, “You’re lookin’ a bit blue,” to her whenever she’s upset, like if her favorite handmade ragdoll that Groot gifted her named Sally doesn’t want to play pretend because it’s a half-moon cycle.

The sky, probably, has the same sort of difficulties, only it must be all the time on Xandar, ‘cause it’s usually blue here.

Right now, though, it’s pink.

Meredith has to make contact, to test her theory.

“Is that not what you just said?” says Uncle Drax, creasing his cool red eyebrows.

“I dunno,” says Meredith, tapping her chin importantly with her finger and squinting upwards at the object of her musings. Uncle Drax makes a funny noise, like he just swallowed a bug, and Meredith has the good grace to look sheepish. Try to make more sense than Daddy does when you talk, is the generally-accepted rule aboard the Milano.

Daddy tells her that the whole family’s a bunch of traitors and jerks, but he’s grinning as he says it, so Meredith isn’t sure what he means.

That, probably, is Uncle Drax’s point.

chrisis-averted  asked:

What is the level of techology in Amestris? Did anyone ever wrote a compendium? They certainly have telephones, radios, and at one point I'm fairly certain they mentioned movies (although there are no televisions yet). Also, it looks like they have colored photographs.

A good question! This was actually discussed in the first guidebook, believe it or not. It’s not the most in-depth list, but it is fairly specific about what’s what, so I’ll share an excerpt from the book itself. The “lecture” is given by Winry.

Excerpt from Winry’s lecture on Amestrian culture and technology in Fullmetal Alchemist Profiles (Perfect Guidebook 1), pages 94 - 95

Food and Common Items

You want to know what kind of things we eat? The same as everyone else really. Meat, fish, fruits, vegetables, and bread. We eat as much bread as we want from the pile of bread that is placed in the middle of the table. Rice? That’s the staple food from the island country in the east, right? We don’t really eat that. Now that I think about it, even though Ed hates milk, he loves stew, which has milk in it. What a weirdo huh?

Speaker

This is a speaker. You can amplify your own voice through a microphone. It seems like a lot of fun. I bet it would feel great to use it to sing a song.

Radio

The radio is one form of entertainment. But there still aren’t very many stations yet. It’s used mainly for listening to special announcements.

Phone

This is our house phone. Isn’t it nice? Rotary phones are standard. In the city they even have payphones.

Means of Transportation

The main modes of transportation in this country are trains, cars, and horse drawn carriages. Trains are basically for long distance trips. I’ve ridden on one a few times myself, but it’s not a very comfortable way to travel. It made my butt hurt so much that I could hardly stand it. Cars are used mainly for getting around in the city, and in the countryside carriages are the most common. By the way, vehicles for air travel haven’t been invented yet. But I think they’re conducting tests of the technology.
Not very many people own automobiles yet. You hardly ever see any in the countryside. It’s too bad, because they look so cool.

Winry’s Update on Trends

I’ve seen that movie about the guy that turns into a fly. Resembool is in the countryside, so a theater owner brings a movie projector to our town. So I haven’t seen too many movies yet. Next time I’d like to see one with a lot of scenes involving automail.

After that, Winry goes on for two more pages to talk about automail. As for technology not mentioned by Winry… Electricity seems to be commonplace even in the countryside (we even see power lines running through Resembool), and we know the military has tanks and flamethrowers. I can’t recall specific examples of seeing them at the moment, but I’m fairly certain typewriters and telegraphs exist as well. Other than that, I think the guidebook just about covered everything we’ve seen.

If you’re ever writing a fic and find yourself asking, “Would they have this technology in Amestris?”, the general rule of thumb I go by is that it’s equivalent to what would have existed in Europe or America in 1914. Be sure to check not only when a technology was invented, but when it became commonplace! For example, a quick google search will tell you that refrigerators were invented in 1913, but that doesn’t mean you should just give the Rockbells your average Kenmore in every fic. Automatic refrigeration technology (aka the kind where you don’t have to keep buying blocks of ice) didn’t really hit the public market until the mid-20s, and even then, the refrigerator as we know it today didn’t become commonplace until the 50s. So if you’re not sure if a technology exists in Amestris and you want your fic to be period accurate, I’d recommend doing a little research first to see what point that technology was at during the mid-1910s.

(Of course, this is all just my two cents on how I would write a period accurate FMA fic. You don’t have to follow my rules, and FMA is a fantasy series where people walk around with robot arms like it’s no big deal, so there’s a little bit of leeway in terms of technology. But now this ask has gotten off-topic anyway…)

the things that bring me joy

-Nighttime; a hush falling over the house as everyone goes to sleep and I’m the only one left awake. I like to make myself a cup of coffee and cocoon in bed with my current read or write whatever pops into my mind. Everything feels so vibrant in those moments, even me.
-Books. The feel of them. The smell of them. The intricate worlds they hold in their pages. I think they’re just about the best thing ever created.
-Writing. As frustrating as it is 99% of the time, it’s also one of my biggest sources of joy. When I write, I forget everything until only the words remain. And while (more often than not) I can’t manage to form them into exactly what I want, the magic is still there, just the same.
-My family. Whenever I’m overwhelmed by the dire state of this world, I remember that these wonderful people exist, and that they’re all mine. The universe did something right in that way.
-Flowers. Tulips, sunflowers, peonies, baby’s breath… you can’t be unhappy wherever they grow.
-Listening to my Mom and Dad’s childhood stories. Hearing about family members I never got the chance to know, or old friends they grew up with; the things that brought them the most joy, or the moments that shaped them into who they are. Everyone has a story, and I’d listen to all of them if I could.
-Coffee. The ritual that comes with making it, the calm that spreads over you as you drink it. I’m always at peace when there’s a cup of it in my hands.
-The fireworks that go off under your skin whenever you catch your crush’s eyes from across the room.
-Baking. The precision in each step, the care and tenderness behind each movement. Savoring what you created when it’s all said and done.
-Old movies from my childhood. The Wizard of Oz. Treasure Planet. The Emperor’s New Groove. Being able to just put it in the DVD player and be transported to back when you were little.
-Making a new friend. That moment when you’re talking and something just clicks, and you find yourself thinking, “You’re my kind of person.” All the memories that follow.
-Animals. Every single thing about them.
-The weight that falls from your shoulders after a good cry.
-Running so fast that you can feel your heart begin to soar in your chest.
-The feeling of hope. Of knowing that no matter what happens, you can still try again.

👋Hiiiiii I don’t really know how to write one of these things so I’m just going to get right into it. And before anyone says anything, no these screenshots aren’t edited besides the red lines that I added for clarity or the black outs of unrelated people.

Hey, hey, Fox? Why do you lie about your experience level?

http://imgur.com/mCRR0n1

Awkward screenshot because tungle sucks but I received this from @conjuredmoon because they were concerned about Fox’s lack of experience with them running a shop. We had to black out the name cause it was their real one but at the top you’ll see that this was sent on Dec. 19 2016 and in it, Fox says “I don’t have any spirits or any past experience with them.” That was only about 7 months ago. Which is interesting because:

The left image is taken from your about page on your shop blog (x) and the underlined is “ I’ve been a spirit worker for quite a few years now, and a weather witch for many years more. I’m here to help in anyway I can!”. Right image is from your personal blog (x) where on December 17 2016, you said that you “just found out about this stuff like…4 days ago”. I didn’t know that many years have passed since Dec. 17 2016, I could’ve sworn that it was only like 7 months ago. Weird, huh? Also claiming years of spirit work when you really began in December is not a good look on you.

http://imgur.com/2TTHjzI

*Khaled voice* Another one. (x) So here they claim that they began in 2013 but as we already know, that is not true. They already said that they did not have spirit work experience at all before December of last year.

Of course let’s not get too worked up on that for that’s just the beginning.

http://imgur.com/DlqvPLM

Left image is your most recent spirit listing (x), posted yesterday July 24. In it you say that you met the spirit “several months ago”. However, in your discord chat you announced meeting him for the first time on July 2, 2017. 22 days equals several months? And 7 months equal many years? Pls help me figure out your time scale, I’m having a hard time with the conversions :(

Ooo, now we get to my favorite part! The vetting :D

http://imgur.com/6c6ecoh (Posted yesterday)

You say that your vetting method is about 7 months, 4 of which with you. Considering that your store has only been open for 5 months I find the claim to be dubious. I mean we can just look at the previous example to see that not even one month of vetting went into that spirit not to mention the other spirits that you’ve mentioned meeting for the first time and then having them up in a listing not too much later. It’s one thing to have a bad vetting process, it’s another to lie about it to make yourself look better.

The one thing that I can’t get past though is drugging your spirits for your vetting process. Forcing them to drink a truth serum? What kind of dystopian Umbrage shit is this? Also hey look vetting based on “bad vibes uwu”, I can’t imagine a better way to do that.

  http://imgur.com/hcYDy86

(Discord post from July 4, anon answer from July 9 (x)

Here’s the vetting for RA’s, a process that seems to last at most a few weeks but preferably only three days. :) How could a vetting process be only three days long? Because they don’t do it and make random spirits do it instead. I’ve spoken about the dangers of conjurers who have spirits solely do the vetting rather than them doing it themselves in my vetting post (x). Just because a spirit is a spirit, that doesn’t qualify them to vet other spirits and you run into the problem where the conjurer is pushing the main responsibility of their job onto others.

Of course we can’t forget about your co-owner, J. :3

Taken from their about page (x) they only have 5-6 months of experience. Wow, only one month less than fox! Once again, everything before that does not matter as you need active and engaged experience for it to matter for conjuring. You could learn a lot during a few months, that’s usually how it goes when you’re beginning. You learn a lot in a short period of time, think you’re experienced once you got a handle on it but really you just have basic knowledge. And some things need time to grow such as energy work skills and you can’t speed up time.

http://imgur.com/d0i5XdI

This post (x) from July 8 shows that they don’t even use energy work skills for their vetting. “Trusting your intuition” is not a credible vetting process. It shows lack of skill and experience to rely so much on one’s intuition. Using your intuition is trusting your unconscious to draw conclusions from the patterns that you have built in your mind. You’re relying on what your mind thinks is true based on patterns that you’ve observed but that’s not a reliable way to vet spirits. Those patterns can be built on shoddy foundations such as the person thinking that every spirit they’ve met with negative energy is a demon. Thus using their intuition will now use negative energy to classify a spirit as a demon even if that’s not the case. A simpler example would be someone using their intuition to identify a criminal but because they happen to be a racist, the patterns in their mind will say dark skin=criminal and their intuition will draw conclusions based off of that. Not only is it operating on instinct rather than critical thinking, it’s very influenced by desire and confirmation bias. So when someone says that they rely on their intuition to vet spirits, run.

The post on the left (x) was made on June 19 2017 and the post on the right (x) was originally made on June 26 2017 (they deleted the original one so i have to link to a reblog).

In the post on the left they mention meeting these spirits for the first time “last night” aka June 18. They post the listing on the 26th, that’s an 8 day vetting period not just for meeting the spirit, but also for learning about the species. Now this is a month old so I’m not going to through too much weight on it in the hopes that they have learned since then. But i just want y’all to ponder how a conjurer could even think that only 8 days is worth spending on a spirit for vetting a spirit. A mindset like that can lead to danger for their customers.

I have more but people are yelling at me to post this so here i go i guess. It’s mostly just reiterations of things that I’ve already mentioned so //shrugs.

Jet Wolf Summarizes Act 38

The manga and I kind of hate each other. This is unfortunate, but still, I’m determined to come out of this with something. Rather than spend energy on a liveblog that’s increasingly negative, I’m reading each manga act (mostly) silently, and then writing up summaries at the end. I won’t pull my punches. There’s going to be criticism and snark about the manga, either wholesale or in details. If that isn’t a thing you feel like reading, please skip this post!

I’ve been desperate for the end of the Infinity arc, having been certain for the past five issues that this one MUST be it, only to be both disappointed and astonished that we were somehow dragging this shit out even more. But one day I had to be right, and this was it! In this issue, we finally see the end of the Infinity arc!

AND THE FUCKING BEGINNING OF SOME WEIRD STARS/SUPERS HYBRID

THE END OF THIS ARC IS LIKE FIVE PAGES OR SOMETHING IT HATES ME IT HATES ME PERSONALLY AS A LIVING CREATURE AND IT CRAVES MY DESTRUCTION 1984 STYLE I WILL HAVE NEVER EXISTED AT ALL

I don’t know how I managed to have enough hope still alive within me, but clearly it was there, because this was so fucking disappointing I heard myself screaming in my own head as the storylines flipped. It’s almost entirely just scrawled drawings of things that are GWOOO or ~glow~, I’m not kidding, there’s no “reading” to be done here, it’s just flipping through about twenty pages of doodles of indistinct things with a sound effect attached.

There’s a bit of angst, but make an educated guess who it’s about. YUP EVERYONE IS FACING THE DEATH OF THEIR WORLD AND EVERYTHING AND EVERYONE THEY KNEW AND ALL THEY CARE ABOUT IS USAGI. In a rare moment, I actually excuse this for Mamoru, because what the fuck else does he have going for him really. But it’s NOT just Mamoru.

And just in case you’re thinking that Haruka’s talking about maybe Michiru or even the earth here, the manga goes out of its way to unambiguous that for you.

This is DEFINITELY the most interesting path to choose.

Anyway Saturn’s doing something, playing Pokemon maybe, I don’t know. Usagi pops back out again like a pinball who just went to super secret ball lock level for a little while, and she’s got ANOTHER power up apparently.

Then …

Uh.

Stuff. I really can’t tell. Saturn’s going to destroy everything but NQS will rebuild it? Only she doesn’t do that, but still all the dead citizens of Tokyo get revived for the 34uthu2420801tslj98th time. And Pluto’s in this too, and she closes the Time Door, and that saves everything? I mean like if all we needed to do was close a fucking door, I could’ve done that months ago. Usagi still keeps turning into Serenity though, and then crystals start appearing, only they don’t appear to have any notable purpose, and I’m not sure they’re actually there, because nobody fucking comments on them and in like four pages we’re done with the fucking arc and

But first Hotaru’s a baby again, and Michiru’s like “Finally, someone I can have more lines than.” Then she gives Chibs her mirror. NO REALLY.

WHAT THE FUCK YOU COULD’VE BOUGHT A MIRROR AT RITE-AID FOR A BUCK TWENTY-FIVE. Still, I guess Michiru’s basically like “This did absolutely nothing for me in any capacity, so you may as well receive an inflated sense of self-worth from this meaningless faux emotional gesture”, which is about right.

Then the Outers fuck off, and I only regret I cannot do the same.

NEXT DAY: Everyone runs to their apartments. NEXT DAY, mind you, so everyone went to have a good night’s sleep first. They see three helicopters taking off.

Three. Helicopters.

Clearly, they’ve learned much about keeping a low profile.

ANYWAY THEN IT’S STARS.

Only it’s also SuperS.

Ah fuck me, it’s SuperS.

Pegasus appears to both Usagi and Chibs, which at least eliminates a season of “Who are you talking to? OH WELL NONE OF MY BUSINESS.” Mamoru also sees him, and I can only hope Pegasus also said to him “Please help me, young maiden”.

But all this suddenly appearing talking horse business distracts them. Oh no, surprise total eclipse!

Remember kids, this coming eclipse in two weeks on the 21st, always use protective eyewear or you’ll cause irreparable damage to your corneas and probably go blind like these three idiots should be! Sailor Moon Says!

When i write in my Grimoire

I was asking my husband why he was doing headers in his grimoire, while i seem to randomly jump in a few pages then start with what i am thinking about. He said when he writes in his grimoire he needs it to be as organized as possible with important stuff toward the front and some less important to the end. I asked if it was odd for me not to go page by page. He told me no because the way i do witchcraft and the way i live life is jumping from one thing to another. My grimoire is a reflection of me, random but when i get in the right spot everything goes smoothly. I think the page whatever ends up on is the right page it should be on.😊

Does anyone else do their grimoire a little different than another witch you know?

Why We Should Listen to Ezra!

New clues and theory alert! So, we all know that Ezra was spying on the girls for the longest time, gathering informations, folders, notebooks and at some point Aria discovers all of this and ends up reading a lot of his notes. I decided to screen shot many of those pages and let me tell you, there’s some interesting stuff in there. Now, the show explains (and at this point we all think Ali is dead) that Ezra believed that one of the girls were involved with whatever happened that night. And for the most part, after the girls discover all this information, they do nothing about it and Ezra’s knowledge is never put to good use. Well, I am here to say that we should be listening to Ezra, because he makes some pretty valid points and honestly, I think he was on to something.

Personally, I think there has to be a reason why he chose to approach Aria out of all the other girls. As we’ve seen both Spencer and Hanna have been into older guys, but he chooses to befriend Aria and while I don’t necessarily think she’s A, I feel like there’s more going on with her than we know.

In episode 4X22 the girls are together discussing Ezra and everything he did, including the book he had been writing. See, I love the opening scene of this episode because it raises some important questions and clues.

Let’s begin. Spencer asks Aria if she read the book, but she responds that she only read a few pages.

Aria goes on to explain that Ezra knew who she was and who they all were when she met him. The girls exclaim that he must know about A or must be A, or must have had something to do with Alison’s murder. While Aria explains that he probably didn’t because his whole book is about trying to discover who the murderer is.

When Spencer asks Aria what Ezra’s theory was, Aria explains that he believes one of the four girls had something to do with it. The girls go on the defensive, but Aria even more so. Spencer demands to know who he thinks hurt Alison, while Aria says she never asked because she knew it wasn’t true.

Alrighty, we’re all caught up so far. So tell me, isn’t it interesting that while Aria has the opportunity to check who he thinks is Ali’s murderer (and he has literally been watching these girls for “years” as she put it) she does not check because she thinks ‘it’s not true.’ Honestly, that seems like a bogus excuse. Which leads me to the conclusion that Aria actually knows more about that night than she would actually like to and she is not telling the girls. Because Ezra, my friends, was on the right track.

You see there are two different story lies that will be explained by the end of this show. What the hell happened 'that night’ and who and why A is! While I don’t think Ezra knew who A was or is, I do believe he had discovered a great deal in terms of the girls and that night. Which leads me to my next observation:

When Aria goes through all of Ezra’s things in 4X22, she comes across a notebook that specifically has information, details and facts about her life. The camera pans through these quickly but let’s look at these pages one by one!

So, these are the facts that Ezra has on Aria. She’s independent, artistic and in some ways the odd ball. Now here’s something that caught my eye! 3 YEARS IN ICELAND…wait WHAT?! There was one year between Ali’s disappearance and the show’s beginning. Aria says she just came back from Iceland. So we assume she’s been gone for 1 year. Where did Ezra get 3 years from?!!!!

If we continue reading we see that he states that she tends to be interested in older guys (which older guys?) and tends to carry on multiple relationships at the same time. That’s weird.

But the background information continues in the next page!

Ahh so some information about “that night.” Finally! So the girls do go look for Alison. It’s interesting that he states “A FEW YEARS GO BY - GROUP SPLITS UP.” Once again, I thought they were only separated for one year (????). But Ezra says differently. After Ali has apparently gone missing, a few years go by. What?!

In the next page, Ezra explains that a possible motive for revenge on Ali would be the Jenna Thing. He suggests a boyfriend of Jenna’s or Toby. But unlike his other notes, these notes make sense on the timeline. The Jenna thing happened before Ali disappeared and thus, his timeline does not seem to be wrong. So what’s going on here?

Now, Ezra is kind of like one of us: a theorist! Lol. And just like us, he has his eye on Jason. Supposedly drunk the night of Ali’s disappearance but also had so many pictures of Aria. You said it Ezra, creepy! (I know, Ezra was kinda doing the same thing lol)

It’s clear through his notes on Jason, and even Caleb below, that Ezra really did have his eye on everything and he knew how Jenna was observing the girls and what talents Caleb possessed. If you look closely you can see he writes, “Whether or not Caleb’s working with Jenna, his technical skills could come [in handy].” Is it possible that Caleb might have helped Ezra with his computer watching and hacking plans?

Ezra! Why are you so smart? He knew, unlike the girls, that Mona was not A and he also knew that a new A had emerged. He knew there was a “new A.”

In the last of the pages we get to see, we see that he describes a close call with the girls and that Aria does not suspect a thing.

See, these are all clues and facts about Aria and that night and Rosewood never get discovered. Why? Because besides Ezra who wrote all of this, Aria never tells the girls what she reads. She just brushes it off. And then, after reading all of this she destroys Ezra’s apartment. You could say, it makes sense that she destroys everything because she was betrayed but it almost seems that reading everything caused her to have a panic attack.

After looking through all of Ezra’s notes, I realized that what he had been writing was not silly nonsense. He was really trying to piece together what happened that night but the show never mentions his books again and thus we forget. But I think he chose to approach Aria because he knew she knew something, more so than the other girls. I think that the person he suspected of killing Alison was Aria.

At the end of the episode, A is reading Ezra’s chapter that Aria dropped. You can see it below and it’s actually AMAZINGLY INTERESTING. I’ll transcribe it, in case you can’t read it. It reads:

“Danger. That was Alison. Alison was different. She’d walk into a room and the room would take note and if heads didn’t turn, they were bound to roll.

She was heaven in hell. A chilling inferno. Deliciously wicked, when standing with saints. Hopelessly innocent yet laughing with sin. The capability to touch you as softly as only a child could, shaded by the power to drive you to fury filled by the wrath of a vengeful old man. No shock that she’s lost… not a wonder she’s gone. Less that she’s talked about long after her day. She’d make you laugh but rather you cry. And believe me…you would. But only in time… and always on hers. As lovable they come and as cruel as the world’s ever known.

Perhaps Aria knows best. She was the first to reveal herself to me. Or perhaps I was the one to reveal myself to her. The setting as ironic as the meeting itself, but there she sat, in the same stool as her friend, a year after her disappearance. She hadn’t a clue, as she sat their unmoved, pretending to be someone else… beyond her years. Something I couldn’t help but think she’d learned from Alison.”

Wow wow wow. That last paragraph really got to me. Because I always saw Aria as so independent, I guess I never realized the similarities she had with Alison. How she seems so much older than her years and how she pretends, just like Alison did when she first met Ezra. If that’s not some amazing insight, i don’t know what is.

All I can say is, is that all of Ezra’s notes and writings show how much detail there is behind each and every character and how there is so much we actually don’t know about the characters. I can’t wait to see if Iceland will be explained in the future!

That’s it for now :) but please let me know, did you find anything I missed in these pages and Aria’s behavior?!

What did you find interesting about Ezra’s notes, clues, and writing?

21 Questions - The Second Question

This part will have more of the scenes in the series to put a little back story and things into perspective. Very minimal changes were made in the dialogues.

When the news broke out that Cheryl Blossom was found at Sweetwater River, soaking wet and without her beloved twin brother Jason Blossom by her side, everyone was beyond shocked. What first started as a simple outing between two siblings ended tragically at the demise of Riverdale’s golden boy. The town once innocent has been overshadowed by the mystery of the missing boy’s body who was presumed to have drowned and whose body was brought along by the river.

As if that wasn’t shock enough, on the evening of Riverdale High’s homecoming dance, an event to commemorate Jason Blossom, the said boy’s body was discovered by the Sheriff’s son Kevin Keller. The town would have continued to mourn the tragic accident had it been not for the bullet wound found piercing Jason’s forehead. The case had been reopened and was now considered a homicide – if not murder.

Buzz Buzz

Betty glanced at her phone. She was busy readying herself for school, her mind set on putting what happened at the Homecoming and After Party at the back of her mind. She even planned on going to Archie’s house so they could walk together despite her mom’s reminder this morning of how Veronica and Archie had already shown their ‘true colors’. She admits, it was hard to forget how Archie’s face looked when she mentioned them being the power couple.

Jughead: Did you hear about Golden Boy?

Betty: I know. Crazy right? I’m gonna ask Kevin later about it. Wanna come?

Jughead: I’ll pass.

Betty frowned at Jughead’s message. A part of her felt sad that Jughead wanted to be alone and far from their circle of friends. Another part felt lonely as she wanted to have someone back her up given the situation she got herself into with Archie and Veronica. She knew she could count on Kevin but then again, she didn’t want to burden any more people with what she’s facing.

A few minutes later, Betty found herself knocking on the Andrews’ door, her heart banging against her ribcage.

“You can do this Betty. I know you can.” She breathed heavily and looked straight on. As if on cue, her ginger friend had opened the door, clearly surprised to find her there.

“Walk me to school?” She asked casually. She saw the look of relief on Archie’s face as he nodded. There was still a pinch in her heart from remembering how Archie had turned down her proposition of being a couple but as the saying goes, life must go on.

“Betty, about last night –” he started.

“How about we agree not to talk about it Archie? It would save us all the trouble. I mean, I think we could agree that our friendship is on top of everything. At least we’ll be on the same page about that.” She felt a lump in hear throat as she tried to bury whatever feelings she had for her friend at the back of everything. It’s hard trying to be bigger than the problem but she’s gotta try right?

“Okay, I understand.” He said, dropping whatever he intended on saying.

Betty was thankful and at the same time slightly disappointed that he didn’t fight to talk about what happened. It clearly shows that he stood by his answer last night and that sleeping on it didn’t change the fact that they were just friends.

Upon arriving in school, Betty was greeted by Kevin who looked unshaken by the recent events. For someone who tripped on Jason’s dead body, he was taking it calmly.

“Hey, how are you feeling?” Betty said while walking in the school corridors with her friend.

“What, about finding the body? Creeped out to say in the least Betty. But I’m also frustrated at a certain Bulldog whose name rhymes with Goose.” He said rolling his eyes.

Betty’s eyebrows knotted in confusion. “You mean Moose—”

“Shhh! Don’t say his name out loud. I swear that boy can hear like a mile away.”

“So what’s up with you and Goose?” She said awkwardly which earned another eye roll.

“He’s just like any typical boy who’s going through a confused phase in his life. And I’m just a guy who’s got spare time to entertain such. It’s nothing serious. After all, he is dating Midge.” He said nonchalantly.

Betty admired how her friend was able to handle this head on. She somehow wished she could be just like everyone else who can shrug a heartbreak in a blink of an eye. .

She was supposed to ask him more about it but both their attention was taken aback by the bouquet of yellow roses on top of Betty’s table at the student center.

“Oh my God, those are gorgeous. Are those for Betty, Mrs. Philips?” Kevin said before picking up the card.

“That’s why I called her.” The secretary said in a irritated voice, clearly annoyed with the students and their drama.

“Who is it from?” Kevin opened the card and read it’s content but Betty already had an idea of who gave it to her.

“It’s probably from V—” she started but was cut off by the blue jasmine herself.

“—Veronica. The yellow is for friendship.” She said coming in with a smile and another peace offering in her hands. “It’s magnolia cupcakes straight from New York. As like what my mom used to say, there’s no wrong that can’t be corrected by the right cupcake.”

Kevin raised an eyebrow at Veronica and cast a glance at Betty, as if saying Was she serious?

Betty shrugged her shoulders and just smiled. “I swear B, I’m so sorry for what happened the other night. It was clearly a bitch move. I have no excuse for what I did.”

For some reason, Betty saw and heard the sincerity in Veronica’s apology. She just nodded and Veronica looked pleased.

“I promise I’ll make it up to you. I booked us a mani pedi at Hers & Hers, we can go there after school?” She had a hopeful look in her face.

“Sure.” Betty answered. Veronica squealed in joy and hugged her before linking arms with her and pulling her towards their usual place.

She saw the look Kevin gave her but she just shrugged and allowed Veronica to pull her away.

When they arrived, Betty saw Archie with his guitar on hand, strumming a few notes.

“Anything new for us today Archiekins?” Veronica asked trying to keep things casual.

“Nothing finished. It’s still in the works.” He said.

“Let’s hear it.” Kevin prompted. He looked from Kevin to Veronica who both signaled that he should do it to avoid any tension.

“I’d love to hear it Arch.” Betty said in a soft voice.

Archie nodded and started playing.

As if her mind were playing tricks on her, memories of her and Archie dancing flashed in her mind followed by the look on his face when she mentioned about being together. She saw how Veronica and Archie entered Cheryl’s closet, not once casting a glance at their hurting friend.

She felt her chest constrict at the pain it caused and looked away from her best friend. Her once safe place was now tainted by the unrequited feelings and rejection.

“Betty? You okay?” She hadn’t noticed that he stopped playing and was now looking at her with concern in his eyes.

“I’m supposed to say yes, being the nice girl but I can’t.” Her voice broke as tears formed in her eyes. She stood quickly and ran off far from the gang only to be followed by Archie.

“Betty wait!” He pulled her arm causing her to face him.

“I’m sorry Archie. I thought I could pretend that everything is okay but it’s not. When I think of a safe and happy place, I think of us in a booth at Pop’s or at the homecoming dancing together. But then I’ll always be reminded of the way you looked when I told you I loved you and it’s not the same anymore.” The tears she had tried her best to hold escaped from her eyes.

“I love you too Betty. You know that. But just not the way that you want me to. You’re the perfect girl. But I’m not sure I deserve someone like you.” His eyes were pleading but the case was long gone. For the second time in two days, Betty’s heart was crushed by the person she trusted the most.

She pulled her hand from his and ran towards the school, far from the person who caused her pain. Far from Archie Andrews, the guy who used to make her feel giddy but now tore everything to pieces. She knew this would happen. She just didn’t expect it to hurt this much.

Her feet brought her to the dusty Blue and Gold office. She sat in front of the computer and placed her head in her hands. She finally let herself cry for the loss of a once innocent love, a love doomed to be unrequited.

She stayed in that place for an hour or so, missing her class. Betty wasn’t one to skip lessons but she figured, this was better than looking like a horrible monster with puffy and bloodshot eyes.

She looked around the office after she was done crying. She saw the old articles once published by the Blue and Gold paper. They used to take pride in print journalism before everything went digital. She felt an idea coming to her and immediately texted the perfect person who would consider doing it with her.

She pocketed her phone and went on to the gym for the River vixen’s practice. Her teachers might be forgiving if she missed out on a class but she doubted Cheryl would be. Especially now after what they all found out about Jason. She was definitely on boss level bitch mode.

She checked her eye in the mirror to see if the puffiness had died down. It was still red but at least it just looked like an allergy. Maybe Cheryl would stay away from her thinking it might be contagious. A girl could only hope.

“Betty, where have you been? You missed lab earlier.” Veronica cornered her when she arrived at practice.

“I lost track of time. I was going over something and the next thing I know, it’s been an hour and classes were over.” She lied. She knew Veronica didn’t buy it one bit but then again who was she to question Betty? After all, their friendship was walking on a thin line. Any wrong move and everything would be over.

“You didn’t miss much anyway. Just Moose requesting to be partnered with Kevin. He looked dismayed.” She said trying to lighten up the mood.

“Is that so?” Betty answered with disinterest.

Veronica was about to say something when the queen vixen has arrived to start practice.

“Gather up ladies. Let’s get the show started.” Cheryl clapped her hands signaling everyone to go to their places.

After a few shouts here and there, practice was declared over when Cheryl had a brilliant idea of inviting the Pussycats at the pep rally.

“I swear I’m gonna need that pedicure after this. You coming Betty?” She looked at Veronica and felt that these little small talks she was starting were starting to get tiresome.

“I have homework.” Shpreplied.

“You know Cheryl hosting a pep rally is really showing something about her coping mechanism. It’s either she’s brilliant or psychotic.” Her raven haired friend said while stretching her legs.

“At least she’s not putting on an act. Pretending to be a butterfly when she’s actually a wasp.” Betty retorted. The look on Veronica’s face says that she was through being the nice girl.

“For the record, the only reason I went in with Archie was to stop Cheryl from doing so. I did it for you.” She said sitting up and facing her head on.

“Oh you did it for me then? So what, I’m supposed to thank you Veronica? Can you look me in the eye and tell me nothing happened between you and Archie in those 7 minutes?” She stood up and looked down on her ‘friend’, their emotions spiraling out of control.

Veronica was about to come up with something but Betty cut her off. “I think not.”

“Hey don’t blame me. It’s not my fault Archie doesn’t like you that way.” Veronica stood and crossed her arms.

“We were fine before you got here Veronica—”

“Oh by fine you mean you pinning after him and what? Waiting for him to catch on your feelings? Face it Betty. Whether I was here or not, it wouldn’t have changed he fact that what Archie has for you is simply platonic. You can’t blame him for that. Most of the time the people we like don’t like us back. Romeo and Juliet are just an exception to that rule.” Veronica said, every word spoken struck Betty with so much intensity. She was right. But she wouldn’t admit it to her friend.

“Great news ladies! The pussycats are in.” Cheryl chimed in. When she noticed the tension between the two, it’s as if she felt happier. “Oh did I interrupt something?”

“Actually Cheryl yes—” Veronica started.

“No. We were done talking.” Betty said gaining a look from Veronica. “By the way, I have an extra gift certificate from Hers & Hers for a pedi, you wanna come with me?”

“Don’t you dare.” Veronica warned.

“Back off closet monster. You had your chance. Let’s go B.” She linked her arm to Betty’s and pulled her away. Betty gave one final look to Veronica before letting Cheryl drag her away.

Jughead fingers were on fire. He needed the distraction. He had finally found inspiration to write his novel with Riverdale’s very own In Cold Blood. He felt bad at some point for immortalizing Jason Blossom’s death on paper but the recent events have sparked something inside of him. Therefore taking out his deerstalker hat, he resolved to figure out who caused the golden boy’s demise. He could think of one person who would be perfect to be his John Watson. He took out his phone and was surprised to see a message was already waiting.

Betty: Meet me at the Blue and Gold tomorrow? I have a proposition.

Jughead: Me too. See you at 7?

Jughead smiled at Betty’s attempt to bring back the lost time in summer. True to her word, she made sure that she would check on him once a day at a minimum. Jughead constantly had to remind himself that this was just Betty being the compassionate friend she is and nothing more left for a different interpretation. He knew he had to draw the line with the budding feeling he keeps on getting whenever he sees or talks to his blonde friend. It was a dangerous place to stay at after all.

When the door to Pop’s sounded, signaling the entrance of a customer, Jughead couldn’t help but tear his gaze away from his laptop. He saw how the raven haired girl, who was causing the rift between his best friend and ex best friend, enter and talk to one of the staff at Pop’s. He was surprised that the girl who dressed like a rich girl called the waitress “Mom”. He wasn’t one to judge so he knew there was more to this girl than just catching Archie’s interest.

He decided to leave Pop’s to visit his ‘friend’ and confront him about what he saw earlier at the school music room. It took him everything to restrain himself from telling Betty what he had witnessed earlier today. One, he didn’t want to hurt Betty any more than she already is by telling her that her best friend slash love was screwing the music teacher. And two, he wanted to make sure of his facts before actually doing something about it. What better way to do it than to get the information directly from the horse’s mouth right?

So he waited. He waited for his ex-best friend to arrive. He sat on their porch and watched as the sun had gone down before the man of the night decided to show himself.

“Jughead, what are you doing here?” His ginger friend said in surprise.

“Well Archie, I came here to ask you about what I saw a while ago at school. In the music room. You and Ms. Grundy. Ring a bell?” He outright put his cards on the table. There was no need for some beating around the bush.

“Keep your voice down Jughead. My dad’s inside.” He stepped forward and lowered his voice.

“So you aren’t denying it? Archie what are you thinking? Is she taking advantage of you?” Jughead felt a rise in his emotions.

“You don’t have a right to say that. You don’t know anything. What Geraldine and I have..”

“Oh so it’s Geraldine?” He scoffed. “So I guess she’s the reason why you were acting strange all summer?”

“One of them.” He looked down in embarrassment.

“One of them? There’s more?”

“We were at the Sweetwater River on July 4th. We heard a gunshot.” He said.

The gears in Jughead’s brain had started working and he found a new reason to hate on his best friend. “And you didn’t think this information was vital to the investigation of Jason’s murder? Just who are you protecting Archie?”

“Geraldine told me not to. If I come up to Sheriff Keller then we won’t be together anymore.” He reasoned out.

Jughead wanted to tell him more things but decided against it. His friend was a lost cause. Trapped between the webs of Geraldine Grundy.

“You know what? The Archie I once knew would choose what is right than what is easy.” He said before walking away from his friend.

He badly wanted to go to Betty and let out his frustration on Archie but he knew he shouldn’t add to her problems. He didn’t want to. He decided to blow off steam at Pop’s and let his fingers work it’s magic on his novel.

Buzz Buzz

Betty was getting ready for school when her phone lit up.

Jughead: Can we meet at B&G tom instead? I have some things to do.

Betty felt disheartened at her friend’s last minute cancellation. She had a lot of things she wanted to talk about with him and she thought it was about time for their 2nd question.

She quickly replied an okay before heading off to school. She was looking forward to seeing Veronica as she had resolved that she would fix things with her.

Her time with Cheryl didn’t end up well yesterday. It turns out, Cheryl was fishing for information on her sister Polly as she suspected her to be Jason’s killer. Betty could be protective when it comes to Polly. It certainly was a sensitive issue for her.

Spotting her at the lockers, Betty grabbed her books and attempted to strike a conversation. “You were right.”

Veronica turned to look at her blonde friend and gave a little nod of acknowledgement.

“Those things you said about Archie. I guess you could say it’s hard to admit things to yourself.” She said. “The boy I like doesn’t like me back.”

“You know Archie may not be crushing on you, but he definitely loves you. And he’s miserable without you.” Betty looked down and sighed. “My mom used to tell me, sometimes a friend is better than a boyfriend. Maybe this is one of those times.”

Betty nodded in agreement.

“Hey Betty you wanna hang out at the Lounge?” Kevin said. He was surprised to see Betty with Veronica, knowing about their small feud and all.

“Sure.” She said. She turned to look at Veronica “See you around.”

Kevin and Betty were discussing about the upcoming pep rally this afternoon when Reggie Mantle started spewing about his theories on who killed Jason Blossom. Betty felt anger bubble in her chest when Reggie implied that Jughead was the killer, being ‘dark and brooding’ all the time. He even suggested that the boy did things to the body after killing him.

“It’s called necrophilia Reggie. Can you spell it?” Betty felt proud for her friend but it was short lived when Reggie tried to tackle Jughead. She felt her heart race when the angered teen almost hit her friend. She was thankful that Archie was there to stop him and all but it didn’t help that Reggie insinuated that he was in on it with Jughead. Archie pushed him which caused a fight to break and ended up with Reggie landing a punch on the ginger, knocking him down.

Moose pulled his friend away from the scene and Veronica immediately ran to Archie’s side to check on him. Betty was supposed to do the same when she noticed that her beanie wearing friend slipped out of the lounge. She opted to follow him instead given that Kevin and Veronica were already there to attend to her ginger friend.

“Juggie!” She called out, making him stop on his tracks and allowing her to catch up on him.

“I think you’re mistaken Betts. Archie Andrews is still at the lounge. You might wanna go check on him.” He said, his stance indicated that he was prepared to leave so Betty held on to his arm.

“No Juggie. I came for you. I wanted to check on you.” She said softly.

“I wasn’t the one who got punched but thank you for the concern. Can I go now?”

Betty felt hurt that Jughead was pushing her away. She felt genuine concern for him as he almost got hit by Reggie earlier. She didn’t understand what’s the reason behind his attitude so she thought of only one way to make him open up.

“I want my second question now.” She said with determination.

Jughead couldn’t hide the surprise that registered on his face. He wasn’t expecting Betty to pull her cards at the moment. He knew he could answer whatever she asked but he really wasn’t in the mood. He feared that he will spill more than what he should reveal. But Jughead didn’t want to use his pass card either.

He sighed in defeat and let his blonde friend have her way.

“Fine. Ask away.” He tried to be as nonchalant as possible but his heart was racing in his chest.

“Why are you running away from me?” He was caught off guard by her simple question. He expected her to ask why he bailed on her this morning or why he’s pushing her towards Archie. Those questions, he could’ve given a simple answer. But then the question she threw at him was just too personal and close to what he wasn’t prepared admit anytime soon.

“I’m not.” He tried to stall but the look on her face meant business. He gave out another sigh before deciding to tell the truth. “I didn’t expect you to follow me Betts. I had my mind set on you going to Archie first and not me. I was just… surprised that’s all. I didn’t think you’d bother to check on me. After all, I wasn’t the one who got pummeled.”

Betty felt her chest constrict at how Jughead thought of himself as unimportant. She had wanted so much to make him feel that he was important to her and that he was not going to be a second thought to her. Not after their conversation the other day.

“Juggie… I worry about you. Regardless if you weren’t hit, I was scared that you would’ve been hurt.” Jughead felt raw emotions overwhelm him and he almost couldn’t stop his arms from pulling her into a tight embrace. But he knew better. He knew better than to show his intentions to Betty especially now when she was still moving on from Archie. He didn’t plan on becoming a rebound after all. He will just have to wait things out.

“If you and Archie were on fine terms, would you have still come after me?” Betty was taken aback by his question.

“Is that your second question?” She clarified to which had earned her a nod.

“I…” she started.

In all honestly, Jughead prepared to hear a no. He knew that if things had been ok with Betty and Archie, she would’ve come to his side without a second glance at him. She may have even tried to stop Reggie from landing that punch and put herself in harm’s way. It’s trait of Betty’s that Jughead was definitely not a fan of.

“To be honest? I think yes.” Jughead was surprised by her admission and was more surprised at how excited his heart had felt at her words. He was starting to find this heart beating wildly thing to be a tad too troublesome.

“I told you didn’t I? I care about you Juggie. And being on good terms with Archie won’t change that fact.” He could’ve opted to push her further to expound on her answer but decided against it. He wasn’t sure if he was ready to hear her answer to what he had in mind. He could reserve that for a later time. He wasn’t in a rush after all.

He nodded at her. He was about to ask something when she was called on by one of the River Vixens. Apparently, they had to do last minute practice before the pep rally.

“To be continued?” He said, stealing one of her lines. She laughed at it and nodded goodbye.

As Jughead stared at the retreating back of his best friend Betty Cooper, he could be certain of a few things:

One, he held a special place in her heart that he wasn’t complaining about. Clearly she proved to him that she wasn’t just doing it because she was on bad terms with Archie and he greatly appreciated that he finally had someone he can go to in times of need.

Two, Betty Cooper was the most compassionate girl he had ever met and he would make it as one of his life missions to ensure that she won’t get hurt by anyone. He would protect her no matter what even if it meant him being hurt in the process.

And finally, three, he hated to admit it to himself but it seems that his buried feelings for his best friend has started to resurface and has come back with vengeance. It was like spring time after a long cold winter.

He would be so screwed if he doesn’t keep things in check.

Tyler Joseph Series

Part I

Summary: Tyler Joseph, an insanely talented lead singer and multi-instrumentalist of the world famous band ‘Twenty One Pilots‘. Little do they know, that the young gentleman is also the secret admirer of an angelic voice, without knowing whom it belongs to.

(A/N): First of all, thank you guys for the positive feedback and nice messages in general. Secondly, I am planning on writing a final chapter so let me know if you want an ending to this x

Words: 1,280

‘‘Dude, what‘re you doing?“Josh asks curiously, trying to catch a sight of Tyler‘s phone. The brown haired boy hesitates but reluctantly lets the drummer catch glimpse of the screen.

“She posted another poesy“ he finally answers, stumbling over his own words.

“They say the ocean’s blue, but it’s black right now
In the dark, on the sand, looking out at my crowd
Depression and drowning singing now the full parts
Of lightning reveals where the ocean stops and the sky starts“

He reads out loud to his friend, who‘s clearly taken back by the girl‘s poetry capability. “That‘s incredible. She‘s been having lots of thoughts in that extraordinary mind of hers lately, hans‘t she?“

Lena’s pretty much always had the power of persuasion. She doesn’t know if its genetic (she never knew her parents) or if she’s some anomaly, but since before she can remember she’s always found others to be very suggestible when it comes to her. She suggested that the wealthy Luthors adopt her, she suggested they hand her the company when Lex decided to go on a rampage. She suggested multibillion dollar deals and merges that have helped make L Corp one of the most powerful businesses in the world. She works hard not to do it on too many things, not to take away all the choices of others. She tries to let people make their own mistakes, which is of course what led to Lex’s eventual breakdown.

She wants to use the ability for good. She uses funds for charities, she creates jobs for convicts and has outreach programs in low-income areas. She tries hard to use her gifts for good, she even takes a page out of Google’s book - her personal motto is “don’t be evil” - but when you’ve spent your entire life getting everything you ever want it does tend to shape you in selfish ways. Even without realizing it she’ll let it slide out, and of course whoever she’s talking to goes along without hesitation or thought. That’s why she’s so surprised when Clark Kent comes in with that small woman from CatCo, who watches but rarely speaks as they talk about the explosion aboard her ship.

She says, “you should leave now,” without even thinking, her headache making her thoughtless about unnecessary compulsions, and she listens to the sounds of footsteps walking away. She’s surprised then when a throat clears, and she looks up to see that the woman - was it Kara? - is still standing there watching even as Mr. Kent has exited the room.

Lena stares at her, dumbfounded.

“I just wanted to say,” Kara starts, ignoring the look of absolute shock Lena is giving her, “that I think it’s really special you’re trying to rebuild your family’s company in a more inclusive way.”

Lena just blinks at her. No one had ever, in her entire life, not obeyed a compulsion. No one before this Kara woman.

Kara nods before turning to leave, only to stop and say over her shoulder, “Also, a good start for that image might be saying please and asking nicely when you’d like people to leave.” And with that she left a shocked Lena, gaping at her like a fish.

After a few minutes of shock, Lena hit the buzzer to call her assistant.

“Jessica, look into that woman who just came in with Clark Kent. I need to know absolutely everything there is to know about her,” Lena paused, her fingers flexing, before hitting the intercom button again, “Please.”
