  • all of these are in english
  • if you have any recommendations or additions, please let me know!
  • some fanfictions that i originally planned to include on this list were deleted by their authors :(

CLASSICS (favorites)

The Art Of Being Extraordinary - if you haven’t read this already, wyd? The ending will destroy you - be prepared to cry.

Letters From War - another extremely well known fic among swen. a heart-wrenching and beautifully written AU fic. even if AUs aren’t your thing, seriously, give this one a try.

Emma is a soldier on reserve in Fort Benning. Regina is the Mayor of Storybrooke. Through a pen pal program designed to ease the ache of homesick soldiers, Emma and Regina begin sending letters to one another as their relationship grows from cordial acquaintance to something neither woman would have expected - until the letters stop coming.

A Trail Of Destruction - DEFINITELY a classic imo. this is one of my favorite fanfictions of all time.

A hostage situation in City Hall leaves behind a battered, broken sheriff, and a mayor wracked with guilt. Trigger warnings for violence and gun threats and general angst. Slow-burn swan queen.

Miles To Go - AU; emma and regina meet at a party and the rest is history. this ones pretty long (80 chapters), but so worth the read! angsty & lots of ‘sexy times’

Everyone has their own story, this one is theirs and it paints the picture of a love story that spans over two decades, with all the ups and downs and everything else in between. SwanQueen AU

Of Love and Loathing - a lot of angry sex in the beginning, which eventually turns into lovey sex. another well known and well written fic - this author is one of my favorites. *reaaallyyy hot smut

“I have been sleeping with someone,” Regina began tentatively, an acute awareness that once she said the words out loud that the madness behind her highly unorthodox situation became all the more real, “whom I absolutely loathe.” •Emma/Regina•

Meet me Halfway - one of the first swan queen fan fictions i ever read! still a classic to this day. AU

Emma Swan works hard every night as a bartender, struggling to raise her son and save up enough to own her own bar. Regina Mills is an upper class New York photographer who wouldn’t normally spare a second glance at people below her. When their paths cross, their lives adapt to each other, but how much are they willing to change?

Love Undefined - in the process of re-reading this one because of how much i love it. angsty as hell but such a beautiful story.

It’s been eight years since the last time Regina and Emma saw each other, eight years since Emma lost part of her happiness, her family, and everything fell apart. But she hasn’t forgotten those three years in New York, or any of what Regina had brought into her life. A late night phone call to Regina takes Emma back eleven years to when they met, saved each other from loneliness, and Emma started learning what it meant to live. She relives the moments that had changed her life for the better, and even the ones that had hurt.

Teacher’s Pet - KNOWN AS THE ONE TEACHER/STUDENT FANFIC THAT EVERYONE HAS READ.

Emma Swan is starting her senior year. Her friends tell her about the Creative Writing teacher that she has on her schedule and how no one had passed her class with an A, not even her bookworm friend, Belle. What will she do? And who exactly is this ‘bitchy Evil Queen’ as they claim her to be? SwanQueen. Student/Teacher. M for language and future chapters.

Lost in Translation - i wasn’t sure about this before reading it but i LOVED it. the description pretty much sums it up.

AU. Regina is deaf. Emma is the only one who refuses to give her pity. In response, Regina is thrilled by this new challenge and the stand-offs commence, but over time she finds out there is more to the blonde woman than just a target to throw a stinging quip and pointed glare at.

Send Up a Signal - emma and regina are actresses and their fans ship them with each other. ;)

Emma Swan is catapulted into stardom, the newest lead actress on a sanitized show featuring modern fairytales. Regina Mills is a long-undermined star with a chip on her shoulder and a thousand reasons why she’s invested. Naturally, they loathe each other on sight.Their characters’ fanbases, however, have other ideas.

Reset - SO. GOOD. 95 chapters. if you’re looking for long fanfics, this is for you.

Following the breaking of the curse everyone in Storybrooke is finding their happy ending, with one exception. Resigning herself to having lost Henry’s love and respect forever, Regina decides there is only one path available to her.

Take Me Home Tonight - AU!! lots of smut :) this is a newer one that i’ve seen around twitter and tumblr and i really enjoyed it! this one’s pretty short (14 chapters)

AU: Nineteen year old Emma Swan is a senior at the exclusive all girls boarding school, Foxhaven Academy. When her friends find out she’s a virgin they send her to the city to find a guy to take her v-card. But Emma is more interested in a sexy older woman she meets in a bar. A SwanQueen story.

The Staircase - non-consensual sex in the first chapter, so please be aware of that; its not for eveyone. this story is very dark but has a happy ending i promise!

Regina could still smell her cologne and feel the cheap pleather pressing into her back. The brunette sucked in a breath. She was still lying on the floor at the staircase’s base and she stared back up at it. Everything was different now. Changed. She felt broken by what had just happened, appalled and enraged, dirty. WARNING: NC17 for non-consensual sex. Dark. (But gets lighter.)

the trouble with emma - very very well known within the swan queen community. i’ll be honest, i never really got into the story but i can acknowledge that it is the most well-written fanfiction i have read to date. the author is truly talented. (the first in a series of fanfics)

Post ep 4x23, Emma becomes the Dark One and learns nothing is quite as it seems or as simple as black versus white. When Regina removes the curse no one in Storybrooke is prepared for the far reaching fallout which leaves none of their lives unaltered or untouched, least of all Regina’s.

SMUT

shadow haven  - the one smut fic everyone has read.

Emma Swan is a PR agent who is sent on a holiday by her boss. Regina Mills is the owner of a private island named Shadow Haven. There is more to Regina than initially meets the eye. This story dips heavily into the BDSM subculture. Swan Queen romance / BDSM story.

the wicked stepmother - the one kinky fic everyone has read- or attempted to. i couldn’t get through the whole thing but the first few chapters,,, holy hell.

When the Evil Queen catches baby Emma along with Snow White, she decides on a new revenge. In Storybrooke, Snow White will be allowed to raise her daughter… but on her eighteenth birthday, Regina will come for her. Emma might just enjoy that.

in control  - Regina had never been in the habit of relinquishing control, but when it came to Emma Swan, she was starting to find out that giving in had its benefits. - Established Swan Queen - One Shot. Rated M for language and content.

the collar - It will carry strong mature themes as well as a Mistress/Slave relationship but it is also a lot more than that. However, as a warning this story will celebrate the shades of grey of our favourite couple as they find their way to each other and will deal with darker elements of their characters. Emma’s history differs a little from canon but will be covered by the story but there is no Henry and she is an adult in this fiction.

a little taste  - author of A Fine Line and Letters from War.

Emma has been desperate to know what it’s like to kiss the smirk off of Regina Mills, but when she finally gets the chance, it doesn’t seem to be enough.

tempest - A storm ushers in an expected opportunity for Regina to finally rid herself of Emma Swan. She will posses the sheriff’s heart and then crush it. But what happens when nothing goes as planned? Rated M for language and Swan Queen sexytimes.

come on be nice - Regina has decided that the quickest way to get rid of Emma Swan is to scare off the commitment phobic woman with a come-on. This, as with many of Regina’s plans, does not go as, well, planned. Rated M for Swan Queen sex.

black lace - Emma and Henry find a way around the 'no visiting’ rule involving binoculars and the walkie talkie. Emma’s attention is fully on her son, she truly doesn’t intend to watch Regina at all. At least until the mayor begins undressing in front of her window..

dirty words - Regina is plagued by thoughts of a certain blonde. Deciding she is in need of cathartic release, she writes a quick narrative in hopes of cleansing her system. However, by a happy accident, the story falls into the wrong hands. What will Emma do with this new and intriguing insight into the mayor’s mind?

damn you, miss swan  Emma visits the mayor one night with a bottle of wine to cheer her up. Anger issues and smeared lippy ensues. WARNING: Includes a non-explicit passing reference to rape. This is my first story. A/N Jan 2015: Way back when I wrote this, no one knew anyone’s back stories, so I just made up stuff. Don’t be upset for canon divergence if you read it now. It wasn’t canon then.

mirror tricks The Evil Queen has made her way to Storybrooke, but she only seems to be interested in one thing: Emma. When Regina realises this, her jealousy starts to get the better of her.

my enemy’s enemy After her mother’s death, Regina finds a terrible surprise hidden among the witch’s belongings. Unfortunately, the only one able to cure her from the ailment is Emma…if she agrees. Strong language and mature themes. First stab at SwanQueen :)

ANGST

to remember her happy ending - “She doesn’t even remember her family! How am I going to explain this to her when she hates me!” She was falling apart now. The way the women in the other room had just looked at her, with such disdain. That wasn’t her wife. That was the Mayor, the Evil Queen maybe…but not her wife.

for endings are where we begin Regina Mills is your average working mom - she spends long hours at her bakery, loves her son Henry with all that she is, and can touch dead things and bring them back to life.Emma Swan is an orphan, an ex-convict, and a bail bondsperson residing in Massachusetts. She is also currently dead. This is the story of how they meet.

the loudest silence - New to Chicago Emma, a professional cellist, is shocked to find that a beautiful deaf woman is her new president of the board. As their friendship grows Emma begins to wonder, what does it look like when a world of sound and a world of silence meet somewhere in the middle? SwanQueen AU

broken 16 year Emma Swan is a preachers daughter on a tight leash, what happens when Regina Mills returns to town, dark, mysterious and dangerous? Will her father’s expectations take over or will Emma follow her heart? Is Regina legit or is Emma cute little pawn? Will Emma be able to love Regina for who she is or will her dark past ruin it ALL! SwanQueen G!P Some BDSM

bring her home Cora’s dead. Henry lives with the Charmings. Regina continues spiraling through grief and loss and hatred. Then Emma suddenly falls unconscious and Henry shows up at Regina’s door because he needs her help to bring Emma back. Reluctantly, Regina embarks on a wild swan chase through Emma’s mind, a whirlwind of ‘roads‐less‐traveled’ and ‘what‐ifs’ and ‘might‐have‐beens’, in order to bring her home.

if the blazer fits Emma decides to dress up like Regina for a Halloween party at The Rabbit Hole, a seemingly innocent decision that surprisingly leads to a relationship. The romance is openly feared by some and secretly despised by an unlikely source, who plots to end it.

a fine line Upon Regina’s banishment, the small town of Storybrooke becomes protected once again by an enchantment that prevents anyone from leaving or entering Storybrooke. Emma and Regina find themselves on the edge of the town, wishing for a way to the other side.

a pale imitation Regina is furious with Emma after she brings back Marian, but since she can’t take it out on her, Regina creates a mindless clone of Emma to hit instead. The clone doesn’t stay mindless for long though, developing an obsession with Regina. Written for summer 2014 Swan Queen Big Bang. (TW for sexual assault/rape and graphic depictions of violence)

FLUFF

one fine mess - Regina’s gut twisted with an agonizing pull and, for just a moment, she thought she might need to take up the same position as the woman crouched before her. “You’re pregnant?” she whispered grimly. Emma’s only response was to turn and retch into the toilet again. — Swan Queen, magic!pregnancy

coffee at midnight - (so good) Slow burn AU that starts with two women from different parts of the USA meeting on Twitter. Emma is an insomniac loner who is a Personal Trainer. Regina is a writer with a sleepless baby. Their lack of sleep and love for coffee soon brings them together and after that they find it hard to part. This is a fic where coffee is taking to mythical levels, despite it’s bad effect on people with insomnia and people with babies - showing that sometimes what you need and want isn’t always the thing that is wholesome and harmless. But also that denying yourself it will only lead to misery, something which Regina has to apply to other parts of her life.

all the single ladies With the library in desperate need of renovation, Storybrooke prepares for a fundraising dinner and bachelorette auction. What mischief and romance can be found as a result? SwanQueen with some RedBeauty Rating has been raised to M - now including adult content.

TEACHER+STUDENT / EMPLOYEE+BOSS

teacher’s pet - see above (classics)

take me home tonight - see above (classics)

step into my office, baby  - This is what you get for doing the nice thing, Emma thinks. You do that whole Pay It Forward bullshit - you buy a lady some coffee and you pretend like it isn’t totally motivated by how she looks in a pencil skirt - and she goes and insults your business card and turns out to be your company’s new Executive Director. Real fucking cute. From now on, she is drinking tea.or, the one where they’re in an office.

teaching miss mills  - Swan Queen Teacher AU: Emma is a gym teacher, who moves to Storybrooke Academy after becoming disenchanted with her job back in Boston. Along the way, Emma adjusts to small-town life, gets her teaching mojo back and grows closer to Regina. NOW COMPLETE

troubled teachers - COMPLETE! SwanQueen AU. Geography teacher Emma Swan starts a new life far from her troubled past and meets history teacher Regina Mills. But all is not as it seems when it comes to the composed, intelligent, and beautiful brunette. Family struggles and difficult relationships lead to a friendship and soon something more blossoms. Rated M for Ch 7, 18, 22, 24, 28, 29, 31, 35 and 38

not a virgin anymore When college student Emma Swan wakes up one morning with no memory of what happened the night before she’s very surprised she finds herself in professor Mills’s bed.

is that so, miss swan? - College student, Emma Swan, is confronted by her favorite professor and secret heart-throb, Dr. Regina Mills. What happens when Emma is forced to reveal her secrets? We shall see. AU. Slightly OOC at times. No magic. SwanQueen. Rated M for serious language and eventual sexy times between our two favorite ladies.

butterfly effect - in her final year of college, Emma finds she has more to account for than the extra credits she needs in order to graduate. Only… she doesn’t expect it to come in the form of her newest instructor, Professor Regina Mills. Complete. AU Swan Queen

a sophisticated seduction Emma’s a college student, working as an intern at the Dazzle Magazine for a powerful woman she has never had the good fortune of meeting. But everything in her life is about to change when they finally meet. Especially when one falls so deeply in love with the other and the insecurities from a broken marriage comes to light. (Not Based on The Devil Wears Prada)

some other faves

down east decisions - Massachusetts State Police Capt. Emma Swan leaves her red-hot career to become the police chief of sleepy Storybrooke, Maine. She’s hoping for a less-complicated, less-dangerous life, a desire that is dashed on both counts. AU. No magic. Crime drama and romance. Swan Queen is endgame.

that drunken night - Emma’s wasted and accidentally calls Regina instead of her mom. And Regina isn’t as loathe to talk to the blonde as she usually pretends. Did things change between them so radically while they were in Neverland? (No copyright infringement intended.)

chasing henry - SQ. Tired of the tricks and lies of both of his mothers, Henry follows the dwarves, Red and Granny when they use Tiny’s magic beans to return themselves to their old land. Emma and Regina both chase after him, and they reluctantly travel together through the Enchanted Forest in order to find him and bring him back home safely.

so does this make us both the other woman? - Set after 3b in a peaceful Storybrooke where Regina is with Robin and Emma’s fallen into a relationship with Hook. Shame about all that subtext that’s rapidly threatening to become text.

Bruises On Another (part three)

Prompt: Steve doesn’t know where they come from, and he isn’t exactly sure why they’re there. All he knows is that his body is littered in bruises, and there’s something different about them. They aren’t just bruises, and they certainly didn’t come from a trip in a step or clumsiness. No, Steve knows there’s more behind the marks that litter his body.

THIS IS A SERIES: one - two - three - four - five - six - seven - eight - finale

Pairing: Slow!Burn Steve x Reader, Billy x Reader (it’ll make sense)

Warnings: marks, bruises, pain, physical abuse, etc. I mean no disrespect to anyone or to upset anyone, this story starts off rough but I can say that things will get better.

A/N: I hope you all enjoy this chapter as much as I enjoyed writing it. Send me a little comment in the ask section or leave it below on what you thought of this chapter. It doesn’t have to be long, I appreciate every single comment I receive and telling me just helps inspire me to write it more frequently.

OH! And just to be clear about a few things, as i’ve mentioned (literally right below this) this is a soulmate AU. I don’t write these often so i’m not sure how they exactly work, but the way i’ve written mine is Steve and the reader aren’t just connected through the marks and bruises but almost like spiritually i guess? When they first meet, something like wells within them. And when Steve sees her with Billy, he doesn’t know why, but he almost feels a sort of jealousy and almost wanting to protect the reader. And later on in the story, you’ll see the reader a bit jealous of Steve as well. That’s because they have a connection, they just don’t know it yet.

P.S. This a soulmate AU.

“Y/N! Just the girl I wanted to see!”

You turned around at the sound of a voice, find none other than; “Billy.” You’d met him yesterday in your social class and because you were the new students, your teacher had paired you together. The boy had seemed nice enough when first speaking to him and he definitely didn’t know how to quit, so you weren’t all that surprised to find him by your side right before lunch.

The mullet haired boy reached your side in record time, squeezing past other students in the hallway. You felt yourself flinch from contact as Billy wound his arm around your waist and pressed you against his side. You tried to ignore the pain that grew as he hit a fresh bruise from the night before and when you glanced at him, you hoped he hadn’t noticed your flinch but you could tell by look on his face he had. “I didn’t mean to upset ya’, darlin’.” He said, staring at you with feigned worry; you just didn’t know it at the time.

“No,” you responded softly, shaking your head. “No it’s fine. I’m just… just a little bit jumpy.”

Billy nodded, as if he understood and leaned back as you both made your way through the halls. You tried to ignore the dark looks you received from other girls as you made your way to your locker. From what you’d heard at your two days in Hawkin’s High School, Billy was the new it guy, everybody wanted to be with him or be him. So the looks made sense, you just didn’t understand why Billy was so fascinated with you.

“Ignore them darlin’, they’ve got nothing on you.” You glanced over at Billy surprised, feeling your cheeks burn red in shock at his comment. As you glanced at the many girls, you didn’t completely agree with his statement. “Don’t look so shocked.”

“No, it’s just-” you said again, shaking your head. You went to say more but found yourself lost in your thoughts and instead glanced back down at the floor. “Okay.” You submitted. You sighed in relief when you reached your locker and Billy stepped away from your side to instead lean against the locker next to yours. You couldn’t help, though, feel his gaze grazing your body the entire time like a predator would look at it’s pray.

You pulled down the sleeves of your sweater, and focused your entire attention on slipping your textbooks into your locker.

“So, you hear about Tina’s party this Friday?”

How could you not? You might not be very social but that’s all you ever heard when walking in the halls. Of course, even though you’d been given a slip, you made no plan of going considering you knew your father would never allow you. Hell, if your father knew that you were speaking to a boy like Billy now… there’d be a huge price to pay. Still you nodded in response to his question, sensing where it’d lead.

“Wanna go?” It seemed Billy didn’t like to wait long when pursuing the girls he showed interest in.

You paused after that, knowing that your father would say no, you just didn’t know how to tell Billy that. “I-I’m not too sure… My father-” You were cut off by Billy’s hand reaching out and practically petting your cheek; you froze in surprise from the movement, unsure of how to react to the bold move.

You met Billy’s eyes and found yourself stuck as he smile sultry at you and leaned in closer. With his hand still on your cheek, you found yourself frozen as you found your father’s eyes in Billy’s. You felt yourself grow petrified and hating the way any man or even woman who threatened even the tiniest bit could grow control over you. It made you feel weak and pathetic, but yet you only continued to stare at Billy. “Come on, Y/N.” Billy mumbled, and you found yourself no longer able to hear the loud crowd of kids around you. “I think you’d look cute in a costume, so what do you say?”

You opened your mouth to say something but another’s cut you off; “is there a problem?”

You moved your gaze over to the newcomer and found none of than the familiar pair of brown eyes you’ve been trying to avoid. It seemed that Steve’s presence was enough to get Billy to step away from you, and soon you found the mullet-haired boy standing in front of you, blocking you slightly from Steve’s eyesight. It was then that you noticed the two girls behind Steve, one you recognized as the girl who’d helped you the day before; Nancy.

“Harrington.” Billy greeted and you could just practically hear the smirk forming on his lips. “Nope, no problem here.”

Steve glared at Billy before you found his eyes on you; “Y/N?”

You paused, shocked that he’d even considered an answer from you. Normally everyone did the talking for you, and you weren’t really allowed to speak for yourself. But before you could respond, Billy spoke up; “I said there’s no problem, Harrington. Why don’t you stay out of other people’s businesses.”

“I’m sure Y/N can answer for herself.”

Suddenly all eyes were on you, including Billy’s and you swallowed the lump in your throat. You met Billy’s gaze and saw your father, so instead of saying what you should’ve of, you mumbled; “i’m fine.”

You missed the way Steve’s gaze fell and his tense shoulder’s slumped. Pressing a hand against his chest, Billy took a step forward; “see? Everything’s fine.” Steve glanced at you one final time, and it seemed like he was going to say more before Nancy stepped up and grabbed his arm. “Steve, let’s just go.” She whispered to him and you found your eyes stuck on her hand on his arm, your brows furrowing.

Eventually Steve relented and you watched him step away from both you and Billy, now gripping Nancy’s hand. You barely noticed Billy turn back to you, until his hand softly grasped your chin, and brought your attention towards him. “So? What do you say?”

In your mind, you couldn’t help and think about the way Steve had grasped Nancy’s hand and the feeling that burned within you. Without thinking, you nodded; “sounds great.”

Friday reached sooner than you thought it would and before you knew it, it was the night of the party and you hadn’t even mentioned the idea to your father yet. You were sat in your room, and you’d just made dinner for your father. You knew he’d be in his room for the rest of the night and hopefully wouldn’t come and see you at any point, but knowing him he usually didn’t.

You stared down at your attire, the same thing you always wore and wondered why you hadn’t thought this through further. Not only now did you have to sneak out for the night, through your window, you didn’t have a costume either and you knew Billy would question it when he arrived. You’d even told him that day a different address then your actual house so your father wouldn’t see his headlights.

You’d never snuck out before and honestly you were greatly questioning your decision to say yes. You didn’t really have a decision, thinking about it now,but the thought of sneaking out, and not being there if your father was to come into your room greatly scared you. You’d never hear the end of it or never feel the end of it if he were to catch you, especially if he found out a boy came to pick you up.

You bounced your knee in spot from your position on your bed, glancing at the time every few minutes. You were suppose to meet Billy outside your neighbours house at six thirty and it was now six twenty-five, meaning you should probably start heading out. Ignoring the feeling that welled within your stomach, you slowly and quietly opened your bedroom door and glanced out into the hallway. Where, thankfully, you could see the lights from the tv in your father’s bedroom flashing, meaning he was distracted.

You took one final deep breath, closing the door quietly behind you and heading to the window. You slid open your window, ignoring the fear that welled within you and stepped out onto the the roof. You crawled on top, closing the window just before it fully shut and begun crawling out to the edge of the roof. Carefully you swung your body out so you hung by the roof and dropped onto the grass in front of your house. Once you were safe on solid ground, you gazed up into your bedroom to see if the light had turned on or any indication that your father had noticed you leaving, and sighed out in relief when you saw nothing.

Nodding to yourself, you faintly let a smile slip over your lips at the fact that you’d managed to sneak out and not get caught; yet. Making your way through your tiny front yard, you stopped in front of your neighbours just as Billy’s car appeared. You swallowed the lump in your throat, ignoring the voice in the back of your head that told you this was mistake and made your way to his car.

You slipped into the passengers seat and almost immediately noticed the frown on Billy’s lips when he saw your attire. Pulling at your oversized sweater you frowned; “I don’t have a costume.”

You met Billy’s eye and watched him pause in thought for a moment, and thats when you noticed his costume. Billy wore a leather jacket with no shirt underneath the jacket, paired with black jeans. You hated to admit it and even felt ashamed, but he looked good.

“You got a shirt underneath that sweater?” Bill asked, stunning you for moment. Though, eventually you nodded. “Great. Take the sweater off.”

“W-What?”

“The sweater.” He grinned at you, a hint of lust behind his eyes. “Take it off. I’ve got a plan.” You paused once again, unsure of what you should do. If you took off your sweater, Billy was bound to see the marks on your arms but from the look in his eyes, it seemed he was determined and wasn’t going to let you go in the clothes you wore. Sighing, you slowly pulled off your sweater, handing it to Billy as he threw it in the back and reached for something else.

All you wore underneath was white t-shirt and on your legs, you wore black jeans. Crossing your arms across your chest, you tried to ignore the uncomfortable feeling that welled within you, and waited for Billy to get whatever he was searching for. Just then he threw a dark coloured jean jacket a top of your lap and smirked your way.

You slipped the jacket over top of yourself, it was much too big but it covered your arms and Billy never managed to see the bruises which was plus. Turning to Billy, you felt yourself smile a little as you saw his gaze.

“There. Now we’re matching.”

I will NO LONGER be adding anyone to the Tag’s List!

Billy fed you drink after drink, shoving them into your face that you forgot how to think straight at some point. You lost yourself after drink five, forgetting who you were and what would happen the moment your father found out about any of this. Instead you drank whatever concoction Billy handed your way and tilted your head back so the drink burned right down your throat.

You’d never gotten drunk before, since you’d never really been allowed out. But the feeling was all that you’d heard it was and you didn’t, at the moment, regret your decisions. After a painfully awkward long car ride, Billy and you had arrived at Tina’s house where all you could see was teenagers everywhere. You’d hesitated stepping out of the car, not knowing what would happen the second you did. But then Billy had appeared on your side of the car, opened the door and led you through the front doors.

You were bombarded by sweaty teenagers dancing, drinking or making out with others. Some people acknowledged Billy’s presence the moment he’d walked in, and you’d been forced to socialize with others during the occasion. But soon enough Billy had brought you to the ‘punch’ table and started pouring you drink after drink, which is where it all began.

You accepted the now refilled cup of ‘pure fuel’ and brought it to your lips almost immediately, downing more than half of it in the first gulp. You were brought back to the real world then by the sound of Billy’s laughter and gazing up at him over the tip of your cup, you fought the blush that threatened to grow. “Didn’t peg you as a drinker, darlin’.”

You shrugged your shoulders; “never drank before.”

You missed the way he’s eyes widened in surprise and before you knew it, Billy was by your side. “Really?” He asked, looking down at you as he slyly slid his arm around your waist. You let him, leaning into the boy slightly to regain your balance. The whole world seemed fuzzy around you and honestly you didn’t even know if you were seeing straight. “Now that’s exciting.”

You mumbled something but over the slur of your words you’re sure Billy didn’t understand. For a moment it was silent as the two of you just stood there and suddenly a loud echoing noise gained your attention and leaning up slightly from the table, you noticed everyones eyes on a pair of people. You squinted slightly, the room spinning before you were able to focus in and found the same pair of brown eyes that haunted your mind.

There in the middle of the crowd stood Steve and Nancy, who’s white shirt was dyed red from the ‘pure fuel’. Your eyes narrowed at the sight of them together and before you knew it, they were walking off in the direction of the bathroom. You chose to ignore your bitterness and the feeling of Billy laughing loudly beside you as you turned back to your cup and took a large slip. Suddenly drinking felt more like a habit and you felt your shoulders grow heavy with weight.

The sight of Steve with Nancy, for whatever reason that you couldn’t even explain yourself, sobered you up real quick. And with your sober thoughts now coming through, you realized the severity of your actions-

What was wrong with you?

What were you doing here-

with Billy?

Placing your hands against the table, you steadied yourself as your mind became fuzzy. Thoughts burned through your mind rapidly and you found yourself unable to think straight. The distant sound of Billy’s voice echoed in your mind but you couldn’t exactly make out what he was saying. You didn’t understand what you were doing or who you were trying to be.

Since when did you sneak out and get drunk?

The reality of everything was starting to set in and you realized there was no way you were going to get back home and into your bedroom without your father noticing. You felt yourself grow sick knowing what would happen the minute you came home, and knew that if worse came to worse your father would knock you out cold and you’d have a whole new selection of bruises to hide.

That’s when you felt Billy nestle up beside you and his hands fall dangerously close to your butt. You flinched in surprise from the contact but it seemed Billy didn’t care this time and soon you found yourself flipped from the table and your back smacking against the wall behind you. You blinked, the sight of Billy before you spinning in your minds eye as his hands fell above your hips. You weren’t even sure what was happening before you felt his lips on your neck and his body pressed against yours.

“Billy,” you slurred, but he didn’t hear- or choose to hear.

Your hands flew to his shoulders where you tried to push him off but it made no difference. You were too drunk to even walk on your own, let alone push a boy two times your size off of you. You looked desperately around you for someones help but knew that none of it would matter considering they were all drunk beyond reason and probably thought you wanted this.

What was happening?

The world was spinning again-

“Billy,” you called, your words coming out in a moan as he bit your neck. Panic filled within you as you felt yourself grow hot. And then before you knew it, Billy was slipping off the leather jacker he’d given you, leaving you bare in your white t-shirt. The fact that your bruises were clear as day didn’t register within in you and all you could think about was getting away from Billy.

It wasn’t until Billy gripped a bruise on your waist did life seem to snap back to you. You let out a loud yelp of pain as he pinched the sensitive skin, and the moment you felt Billy stop in surprise you pushed against his shoulders. He luckily, this time, stepped away and panting you held yourself. You didn’t meet his eyes knowing what you’d find and wanting to avoid them as much as possible. The moment you’d meet his eyes would be the moment you’d submit to him again. Billy scared you, just like your dad, but you didn’t- didn’t want to lose your virginity like this.

“What the hell?!” Billy spat.

Shaking your head, you stared at the ground before you. “I’m sorry,” you mumbled, your voice shaking. “I have to- I have to go.” You moved to step past him but Billy stepped before you abruptly. You closed your eyes in fear, tensing your body as you waited for the pain to start. But nothing ever happened, and finally you looked up at Billy; “bitch.” He spat, before stepping out of your way.

You paused for your moment, the pleasure of being drunk leaving you and you felt your heart rapidly beat against your chest. Biting your tongue, you sped through Tina’s house, moving through people narrowly before making your way outside. The cool air hit your bare arms and you were reminded of the vulnerability you found yourself in.

Staring at the street before you and the cars lined up, you sighed. You’d have to walk home-

“Fancy seeing you here.” You turned around at the voice, finding none other then Steve just before you. You paused in surprise, gazing up at him in wonder as he took another step forward. Snapping out of your stupor, you nodded shortly and let your eyes wander around the front yard again.

“Need a lift home?” Steve offered and again you found yourself surprised by him.

“Um- what?”

“A drive.” Steve clarified, warily stepping closer to you. His eyes almost seemed bloodshot and it looked as if he’d been crying or near tears. You felt your heart fall at the thought of him being upset, but shook your head- you barely knew the guy. “Do you need one home?”

You teetered over the options, unsure if you should take it. But considering your other option was walking home, alone, in the middle of the night and risk coming home later or accepting the drive, the option seemed clear. So, taking a deep breath you nodded and felt yourself grow warm when Steve smiled lightly. The smile didn’t meet his eyes and it almost looked forced, but nonetheless he smiled.

“Here.” He said, slipping off his jacket and extending it towards you. You hesitated for a moment, holding your arms close to yourself before accepting his generous offer and extending your own arm towards him. You seemed to have forgotten about the bruises littering your arm for a moment when Steve reached out and grabbed your wrist. “Hey,” he said, his eyes falling with concern. “Who- did Billy do this to you?”

“What?” You questioned, your eyes falling on your arm. Pulling it back from his grip, you hugged your arm to yourself and quickly slipped on his jacket, so Steve could no longer stare at them. “No- no, it’s fine. I’m fine.”

“Y/N-”

“It’s fine, okay?” You said, a bit harshly. You felt guilty about interrupting him, especially when he’d offered you a drive, but you couldn’t risk him finding out. If your father… you didn’t want to think about that. “I’m fine.”

Steve seemed hesitant but eventually he nodded and stepping forward, you followed him. ”This way.”

“You’re hanging with the wrong crowd.”

It was the first time either of you had dared to speak; surrounded by the silence of your own thoughts. You were too plagued by the thoughts of what had happened that night and what you’d done. The image of Billy kept appearing in your mind and you remembered him grabbing you, smacking you into a wall and using you as if you were nothing more than that- something to be toyed with. He hadn’t gotten very far as you imagined he’d wanted to, but you could still feel his hands on you, gripping you, hurting you.

It seemed all anyone ever did anymore was hurt you.

The decision to go to this party was probably one of your worst decisions yet; and you’re not even sure what had possessed you. Were you that pathetic to think one guy who showed even the tiniest bit of interest in you meant well? Were you that naive? But when you thought about it, you knew you were- you’d always been that naive.

You were so desperate to feel loved and cherish, you’d jumped at the first chance at it. You’d made yourself a fool in front of that very same person and gotten yourself into trouble because of it. You were a fool. A idiot who never learned from their mistakes and instead only found yourself more bruised and marked in the end. Which reminded you of what awaited you when you finally did get home and why you felt so sick to your stomach.

When you’d first left you’d thought you maybe could’ve gotten away with sneaking out, that somehow your father’d never find about you leaving for a few hours. But now, despite your foggy mind, you knew that that was the stupidest thing you’d ever thought. Your father prided on knowing where you were every minute of the day, and if you weren’t at school you were expected to be at home- or at least doing something that’d benefit him. It made you hate him all that more but it also made you fear him.

You knew when you arrived home, that he’d be there waiting for you.

“Oh?” You softly questioned, staring out the window; you were already practically home. Just a few more minutes and you’d arrive at the place of your doom. “And I imagine you’d know?”

Steve sighed heavily and you noticed the way his hands gripped the steering wheel tighter. “Listen i don’t know you very well-”

“That’s right, you don’t know me.” You weren’t sure if it was the alcohol speaking or the frustration you felt at the entire night, but you were angrier than you’d been in a while. And oddly you didn’t fear Steve lashing back. Knowing that if you’d spoken like that to your father you would’ve ended up with a broken body, or say Billy, that things wouldn’t have ended well. But it was almost like something told you Steve wasn’t like that. “So don’t presume to know what’s best for me.”

When Steve didn’t reply you glanced his way and noticed he almost looked disappointed- hurt. Sighing, you shook your head, sobering up your thoughts. “Sorry,” you apologized. “It’s just- must be the alcohol.”

Steve nodded as if he understood; “I used to hangout with people like Billy.” He explained softly and you imagined it was because he hoped to connect with you. “They made do a lot of things that were wrong and I just want you to know, Billy isn’t worth that.”

You looked out the window, gazing at the streets of your new neighbourhood as your hand flew to your neck where Billy had bit down. “Yeah…” You mumbled, rubbing the spot. You don’t know how your father will react if he sees it, which you imagine he probably will. The pit in your stomach grew deeper.

You saw your house in the distance and felt your body constricting into yourself when you noticed the lights on. Swallowing the lump in your throat, you pointed out the window; “that’s me.” You said softly, and Steve nodded. Before you knew it, the car was swerving to the right and it came to a stop, just before your house.

You could see your father on the front porch and closed your eyes. You seemed to lose yourself for a moment before you felt a hand on your shoulder; “Y/N?” Snapping out of your stupor, you turned to Steve and sent a quick smile. Much like his from before, it didn’t meet your eyes. You quickly slipped off his jacket, holding your arms to yourself and handed the coat to him.

“Oh, you can kee-”

“No!” You rushed out a bit too quickly, focusing too much on the eyes that seemed to pierce into your back. Coughing, you ignored Steve’s concerned look and gripped the door handle. “It’s okay. I’m home anyways.” You smiled, opening the door and stepping out. “Thanks.” You offered shortly.

Steve seemed hesitant to let you go and you watched with a sinking feeling him glance at your father; but one look at your expression and he backed down. He nodded; “no problem.” And started up the car again. You closed the door, watching Steve drive off with a distant look before he disappeared around a corner. You held the stare for a moment longer, well aware that your father had seen the entire thing just now.

You turned to your doom and let your head fall down before making your way up to the front porch. Your father said nothing, and you watched him drop his cigarette into the ground before you and stomp on it. You flinched at the harsh movement before you felt him grip your arm roughly and drag you inside. You didn’t fight him, knowing better than that and soon you found yourself stumbling into your house.

You felt your breath quicken and glancing up at your father, you met the same angry eyes that you hated so much. Letting out a huff of fear, you clenched your fists; “Father, i’m so-” You were cut off by a sharp sting radiating through your cheek. Gasping in shock, you gripped your now reddened cheek and stared up at your father.

You hadn’t seen him so angry in so long and it only made the pit in your stomach grow to the point you felt like there was nothing left. You felt yourself shake like a leaf before him and your body curl into yourself desperately, as if that would make you disappear from his sight. You hadn’t anticipated this, you knew he’d be angry- but… you wished you stayed at the party, let Billy do what he wanted to you because nothing could match up to what your father could.

You wished you’d stayed in that car with Steve…

“You whore!” Your father spat and you winced, tilting your head back. His hands suddenly grabbed ahold of your cheeks and your eyes were yanked up to meet his. “Look at me.” He said, this time much quieter but all the more scary. “Where were you all night?” He paused, “drinking?”

“It was a party-” You tried to explain but your words jumbled over others. Your father shook your head and screamed into you face to speak more clearly. “It was a party,” you repeated, much more clear. “And there was alcohol, I had a few drinks.”

“The neighbours told me they saw you get into a boys car.” Your father explained and your heart fell, why did you think your neighbours wouldn’t say anything? “That boy who dropped you off, who is he?”

“No one-”

“Don’t lie!”

“No one!” You screamed, your voice cracking and you felt the tears finally fall as he shoved his face into yours and gripped your head so you couldn’t move. “No one. I promise.” But you felt your heart plummet when your father’s eyes glanced around you and they zoned in on the mark on your neck- who you were sure was positive he hadn’t made that.

Your father finally let go of your face and leaning back, he seemed to think for a moment. Then his eyes wandered down to your shirt and through your tears you felt your eyes close, knowing what he’d think. Stepping towards you, all went silent as your father breathed heavily by your ear. You said nothing, swallowed the lump in your throat and clenched your fists so tight your nails dug into your palm.

Then before you knew it, you were doubling over in pain and gripping your stomach. “You are filthy slut,” he spat. Your father didn’t let you get far before he gripped your arm again. This time he dug his nails into your arm and you let out a cry of pain as it burned through your arm. Standing there before him, you cried out in pain, desperate for it to be over. Your father gripped your chin with his free hand, still gripping your arm with a bruising grip.

“Will you ever sneak out again?” Your father asked in a whisper, yanking your chin so you met his eyes again.

“No.”

“Say it!” He screamed.

“I won’t ever sneak out again.” You repeated, and after that you felt him shove away from you, making you fall down onto your butt against the hardwood beneath you. He said nothing but shut off all the lights and step past you, up the stairs. Though he didn’t waste the opportunity to kick at you with his feet before leaving. Biting your lip, you felt yourself fold over, bringing your knees to your chest and your head fell down. Nothing could stop the tears as they fell and you were succumb to the darkness that was your life.

How is any of this fair?

“Y/N!”

You paused, closing your eyes. That was undeniably Steve’s voice but you couldn’t- you picked up the speed in your step, desperate to get away before he reached you. “Y/N! Wait up!” You knew what he was going to say, you knew he was going to ask what had happened that night after he dropped you off. Your father’s punishment hadn’t ended that night and you spent the entire weekend in endless pain and suffering. To clarify, there was a fresh mark on your jaw that you hadn’t been able to cover up and you’d been receiving odd looks all day.

Word of Billy and you had spread around, you imagine from said boys lips himself. Though he’d changed the story just a bit to fit his needs and now everyone thought of you as some slut, as if you needed more shit in your life.

You knew what Steve wanted, you knew what he’d ask and you just- just couldn’t.

You walked as fast as you could through the hall, dodging students that stood in your way. You thought you’d managed to avoid him once you reached the back doors, and pushed the door to step out but before you could make it all the way through, a hand fell on your shoulder and you were spun around. Once your back hit the door behind you, you met the same brown eyes that never left your mind, for whatever reason, and Steve panted in relief.

“I called your name.” He said, huffing. “Jesus, i’ve literally been chasing after you all day.”

You shook your head, crossing your arms over your chest as you refused to respond. “Y/N.” He called again but you only turned the other way. You were acting like a child but you didn’t much care. If you told someone, you didn’t know how but your father would find out- and your life would only turn worse after that. Steve huffed in annoyance, and pausing he said the only thing he knew would catch your attention; “Y/N I know about the bruises.”

You knew that, that was obvious. He’d literally seen them the other night and you sure some rumour had been spread about tha-

“And they’re on my body too.” That made you pause and you felt your body freeze with bafflement. Finally your eyes met his and glancing up at him, you found no hint of a joke behind his eyes. Steve genuinely looked like he was telling the truth, but what he said made absolute no sense.

“You’re not making any sense.” You finally said, albeit softly.

Steve sighed, and letting go of your shoulders, he moved to the sleeves of his jacket and pulled them up. Sure enough, plain as day stood the same bruises that littered your own arms. Meeting his eye, you glanced at the black eye that matched your own and your mouth fell open without anything to say. “I have some on my stomach too.”

“How- what?”

“They started appearing the day you showed up at school.” Steve started to explain. “At first I didn’t understand- I still don’t honestly. They don’t hurt and I hadn’t caused them myself. Then I heard that someone saw you covering your own black eye.” Without thinking Steve outstretched his own hand towards you, and his hand fell a top of your left eye where he pressed down. You didn’t stop him, from either the shock or maybe the fact that you didn’t feel afraid of him. He rubbed down a part of your cheek and by the look on his face, you knew he saw your black eye. “Then I saw the bruises on your arm and today, your jaw…”

Your own hand went to your jaw, holding it in shame. It was then that you noticed the mark on Steve’s neck and brushing back a few strands of his hair, you hesitantly touched the mark that coincidentally was on your own neck.

“I put two and two together,” Steve started again. “And Y/N, I need to know, is your father- is your father abusing you?”

Part 6?

I want everyone in the phandom to do something for me. This is important!

I want you to expect nothing. I know this sounds ridiculous, and I’m not trying to stop your conspiracy theories. I do, however, want you to stop expecting everything to be a big thing. I don’t say this to be rude. I would love for everything dnp did to be a big (positive) thing. But, sometimes, there is no hidden meaning. Sometimes, things are exactly as they seem.

I say this because, when you expect nothing, then something- anything- is a pleasant surprise. Everything they do or say lately, you guys take it up about 500 notches, then when something happens that’s about 10 notches, everyone is disappointed. Imagine how awesome things would be if you just accepted news as it came, and didn’t let it give you anxiety or spend every extra moment waiting for some huge revelation.

I’m not saying to not get excited over things. I’m super excited for their joint liveshow on Thursday. But, some of the things I’ve seen from people is kind of distressing. You’re letting yourselves get freaked out over nothing. They might have something to reveal, they might not. But, if you’re expecting them to say they’re married, have a dog, and bought a house on a hill somewhere no one can ever find them- you’re going to be disappointed. However, if you have no real expectations, then them saying the phrase “we’re going on a little trip to Scotland” is going to be really fucking exciting.

This post is not for the people just casually talking about this stuff, but for the people I’ve seen today that are talking about actually having anxiety over this. It’s for the people who have decided- 100% for sure- that they’re coming out. You’re going to be disappointed. Just enjoy whatever this is for whatever it is. Expect nothing.

Chill.

Oh! And just to be clear, this derives from canon plot. While Nancy still broke up with Steve and the whole Halloween party still happened, the events with the demodog and everything doesn’t- mainly because it wouldn’t fit with how i’d like to take my story. So I hope you all don’t mind.

Steve stared at the disappearing figure of your father’s car, sighing heavily in thought. He hesitated in chasing after you, debating whether that really was the right decision. It almost seemed as if you didn’t want him to help you, but then Steve remembered the fear in your eyes when you’d screamed out in terror. He had you in his arms, you were safe and then suddenly you were just gone.

Steve had you- and in that one short moment he’d actually seen you smile. And then it just vanished.

You were afraid, Steve knew, and that’s why you pushed him away. The unknown- you didn’t know what would happen to you or him if Steve fought your father or had said something, so you’d pushed him away just like he’d seen you push everyone else away these past few days. Steve may have only known you for a short amount of time but that afternoon he felt as if he learned so much about you. The vulnerability in your eyes had broke his heart, your severe lack of confidence had rendered him speechless.

Steve didn’t know if the abuse had been happening your whole life or more recently, but none of it mattered. What your father has done to you has turned you into nothing, something to be used and abused. And Steve knew that you were more than that- everyone was more than that. You needed help, needed someone to guide you into the light and show you what love and care looked like.

And Steve wasn’t willing to let you suffer. Damn what would happen to him- damn if you hated him forever. Your father had seemed angry, angrier than Steve’d ever seen anyone else, and he wasn’t willing to let that pathetic excuse for a man lay one more hand on you.

Making his decision, he begun running towards his car. Steve wasted no time in opening his door, practically falling into the drivers seat and turning on the engine. He sped out of his parking spot, rushing to reach your house. You’d gotten a head start but he was determined to reach you before anything bad happen.

It wasn’t a long drive but to Steve it felt like forever, until finally he turned down the street of your house. You’d probably been home for a good ten to twenty minutes already and Steve felt his heart beating rapidly against his chest in fear of what your father had already managed to do to you. Once parked on the side of the road, Steve practically swung open his door and stepped out. He took quick steps and practically ran up the stairs to your porch, reaching your front door in seconds.

Steve could hear, even from his car, yelling from your father and soft cries that he could only assume came from you. He felt anger spike at his heart and his chest tighten in disgust at the man who pretended to be your father. Luckily for Steve, your father had left open the door and practically slamming it open, Steve stepped into the house.

It didn’t take him long to find you, and as he did your father swung his fist down directly smacking you in the face. You cried out in pain and Steve felt is eyes widen in surprise, before a sudden shock of pain ran through him. He gripped the same place your father had hit you, only on his own face in pain and let out a groan. Steve wondered why that one time it’d hurt, when none of the bruises that your father had inflicted on you had never hurt him.

But none of that mattered because the moment Steve recovered, he found both yours and your father’s eyes on him. He met yours, hating the pain behind them as you cried desperately. Though it almost seemed as if you were relieved at the sight of Steve, and Steve felt his soft eyes spike in anger as they met your fathers.

“Father!”

You groaned out in pain as your father practically kicked you into the house, falling to the ground with a loud thud. You spun around quickly, knowing your father was just behind you and watched with desperate eyes as he closed the door. The lights weren’t on in the house and you watched with despair as the door was shut and whatever light you had disappeared before your very own eyes. The dark had always scared you, but your fear of it had only grown when the abuse had started. “Father, please-”

“You whore!” Your father belted out, leaning over your body. You cried out in fear, crawling back as fast as you could. “Get up!” Knowing better than to delay, you rushed up so you were on your feet and held your head high as your father gripped you with a bruising force. “What were you doing with that boy?” Your father asked and you shook your head, about to explain. But before you could answer, he spoke; “I thought I told you to stay away from him.”

“I tried-”

He tightened his grip and you let out a groan as your jaw ached in pain. “Forty minutes late- forty minutes spent with that boy. Steve was it? Do you take me for a fool?”

“No,” you sobbed, shaking your head as best at you could. “No, please, father I didn’t mean to-”

“I don’t care!” Your father interrupted, roughly shoving your head away. You struggled to stay balanced, feeling your knees grow weak beneath you and your whole body shake. You felt like you might pass out, your ears ringing from the volume your father was speaking at. You should’ve stayed with Steve- you should’ve…

What did you do to deserve this?

“Dad please!” You haven’t called your father ‘dad’ in so long, the last time you had he’d beat you for not showing him enough respect. But you were so desperate to have your dad back, to have the father you once had- you’d try anything. “I’m sorry.” You cried out, feeling every bit of defiance leave you and all hope disappear. You just wanted your dad back.

“I’m not your dad.” Your father spat, his voice this time much more quiet. Your eyes widened upon his words and meeting his eyes, you tried to see through the blur of your tears. What did he mean?

Your father took a step forward and you flinched when his hand reached out towards you. “And you’re certainly not my daughter.” His hand moved towards your neck, grabbing ahold of the necklace you so dearly cared for. It felt like your heart stopped as he gripped it and time slowed down as you cried out, begging him not to touch it. “And you certainly aren’t hers.” Then before you knew it, the necklace was ripped from your neck, falling to the ground pathetically.

Time slowed as you watched it hit the ground. Falling to your knees, you grabbed the ruined necklace with shaky hands, not quite believing what had just happened.

“You killed her.”

You missed the door open and Steve step through as your father roughly grabbed the necklace and chucked it across the room. Then before you knew it there was a sharp pain radiating through your cheek and you were falling back, crying out in pain. It wasn’t until you heard a manlier cry, one that wasn’t your fathers, did you noticed Steve. And glancing up at him, you met his eyes with tears in your own.

He’d come…

Steve had come to help you-

Then his eyes left yours.

“You son of a bitch!” Steve bellowed out and took a step before you.

“You’re the boy who’s been-” Your father never got to finish his sentence before Steve punched him across the face so hard he stumbled back in surprise. It just so happened that as he stumbled back, he tripped over his own two feet in dizziness and fell to the ground. You watched with wide eyes, the tears seizing as he fell and his eyes closed in shock.

Then there was a hand gripping your arm, pulling you up. “Come on.” Steve’s soft voice filled your ears. “Come on, Y/N. I’ve got you- i’m not gonna let him hurt you anymore.” He pulled you up to your feet and begun leading you out the door. You didn’t fight him, your eyes staying glued to your fathers before you were suddenly outside and entering Steve’s car.

He set you in the passenger’s seat gently, buckling you up himself before making his way around to his own seat. The moment Steve sat in his car, he turned to you as your eyes stayed glued before you. Steve watched you, waiting for something to happen, but nothing ever did, and eventually you turned to meet his eyes.

“Y/N-”

“He was going to kill me.” You whispered, meeting Steve’s eye and Steve shook his head. What you said was true, he just didn’t know how to respond. “My father- my dad wanted to kill me.”

“It’ll be okay.” Steve reassured and you shook your head.

“How?”

“I’m taking you to the police.” Steve answered. “I’m taking you to the chief.”

Stiles that played once, when he was twelve. He asked it as his birthday present, and John and Melissa drove them to the nearest place from Beacon Hills. Stiles was absolutely delighted, until they learned that they would be put with strangers to form a team. It all went downhill from there.

They were left alone to be shot at fifteen seconds in, and had to hide under a ramp. Scott had an asthma attack when the fog machines started and Stiles, terrified, had to drag both of them out. He then fell into a full blown panic attack in the changing rooms.

So, not their best memory.

But fast forward seven years later. They are nineteen now, Scott is a werewolf and Stiles has been tortured and shot at. Laser tag is gonna be easy. Stiles is so ready to avenge their younger selves.

He only need a team.

Stiles prudently presents the idea during pack night. He’s not worried for most of them, he knows that most of his friends have an unhealthy love for violence and winning. He’s also ready to make Scott cry in order to convince Isaac.

The only unknown variable is their taciturn alpha. Somehow, convincing him to play with lasers in a room reeking of teenager’s hormones and sweat seems like a difficult task. But Stiles has prepared his speech, he has perfectly reasonable arguments, and he will bullshit about pack unity and trust exercises if need be.

Of course, because this is Derek and he likes to fuck up with Stiles’ expectations, he’s only finished the first sentence of his passionate plea when Derek raises one hand in the air to stop him.

Yes,” he breathes, and smiles. They all blink at him a little. Derek keeps smiling, bunny teeth showing and looking almost… excited.

So.

Derek’s family apparently used to throw their kids into the woods to pitch them against each other for fun.

Stiles is not surprised.

Stiles is awfully not surprised.

This was the family whose genes created Peter Hale.

Not noticing their stunned silence, Derek describes his childhood memories. During their monthly run under the full moon, adults used to hide colored pieces of tissue everywhere. The next day, Derek, his sisters and cousins were all let loose, in several teams, into the wood. At dusk, the team that was able to bring back the more targets to their home base while protecting said home base from enemy raids won. The prize was some old trophy, bragging rights and first crack at every dish during the huge dinner.

Derek is trying so hard to communicate his enthusiasm for his claws-and-fangs-allowed, hunger-game version of catch the flag that his hands are moving a little bit in the air. It’s adorable.

When Scott tries to get back on the subject of laser tag (Stiles glares at him, because Derek was sharing things), Derek immediately nods and explains helpfully that there is a place supernatural-friendly just 45 minutes away from Beacon Hills. There is no protest in the pack. Stiles bats the air with his fist in victory.

Their first game together teaches Stiles a lot of things.

Jen’s advice for a beginner wanting to get into the film industry:

Best advice I can give is find great teachers, find great places to study.  Find the people that inspire you, find the stories that inspire you.  Pay attention to the movies that you like and the movies you don’t like.  Have a perspective and a point of view on the content you consume. And then make stuff. Figure out the stories that you wish you could see and find a way to make them. If it means starting with maybe something on your iphone or whatever you do, just make it.

People seem to love to talk about the idea of making things but don’t actually make it, but the people who do it, they start to move pretty quickly.  They start to grow.  We were talking backstage and every project that I directed, I feel like I added to my toolbox immensly.  There’s no way around growing every time we do something.

I was just reading an interview with the Coen Brothers where they talk  about their first film.  They said they realized they were lucky that they were throwing together these 8 mm films when they were kids because even though they weren’t taking it seriously then, the experience they had doing that actually provided a toolset that they didn’t realize they were gaining in that process.  So whatever form it is taking, you will grow from that.  So DO.  I’m always telling people, just do, do, do, do.  Don’t talk about it, do it.  “
