THINGS TO DO AROUND SEATTLE # 20 - CAPE FLATTERY, NEAH BAY, OLYMPIC PENINSULA
Cape Flattery is the Northwestern-most tip of WA or US. One of the lesser known places of Olympic Peninsula, but certainly a must-visit.
The drive along the Strait of Juan De Fuca to Makah reservation is gorgeous, the road hugs the shoreline so closely that it almost feels like you’re driving on the beach.
Hobuck beach is a good sandy beach (also where we stayed for the night @ Hobuck beach resort). Went there during Thanksgiving weekend and were pleasantly surprised to find snow on the beach…a first for us :)
Shi Shi beach is a world famous beach that is an hr or two drive from Neah bay and is worth visiting. We didn’t end up going there this time. Recommend reading about the muddy hike to Shi Shi beach, and the effect of tides on accessibility of trails before heading there. Yelp and TripAdvisor reviews have a lot of information.
Ozzette lake is another scenic spot in this area. Not quite as accessible or developed or popular like Lake Crescent, but again plan to visit it the next time we hit Olympic Peninsula
