Small tips that make a (healthier) difference

Hey you! I dare you to try your best to follow this checklist tomorrow! But hey! Not so fast. Why not try it again the next day (and every day after that)? Sometimes it’s the smaller changes that can in fact help improve our health and wellbeing, especially when we think we’re short of time. School stressing you out? Everything is going to be ok. Try a few little things here. Tick everything off that you completed! Tell me how it goes for you!

This was a spontaneous post and I’ve found that I’ve been making errors in my posts recently! Plz correct me bc I am an egg. Hope u like it anyway.


Morning:

  • Wake up as soon as you do naturally or when your alarm goes off. Make your bed! Open the blinds!
  • Get out of bed and s t r e t c h – all the way from the very tips of your fingers to the tips of your toes. (Trust me, this feels good)
  • Set your intention for the day. This might be weird for some, but try it. Example: Today I will be productive. I will be focused on my tasks and I will take the time to relax when needed. It doesn’t have to be as complicated – Example 2: I can do this. Remind yourself again.
  • Eat breakfast. A MUST. Try my favourite: eggs (poached, scrambled or fried) on toast with avocado or baked beans. Yes. We are on a roll today.
  • Drink one full glass of water within the hour of waking (don’t down it all in one go though!).
    • Add 1/8 of a lemon to this. Lemon is great to alkalise the body and getting that digestive system of yours goin! This will flush out toxins in the body and support your immune system too!
      • Side note: Wait half an hour before brushing your teeth after this (or maybe do it before) because lemons are acidic after all and can probably do some damage to your shiny whites.
  • Try having a water bottle by your bedside and beside you throughout the day as a constant reminder to drink water as you see it. Trust me, this has helped improve my water intake a lot.
  • Organise your day. What are your plans? What are of priority and what are not? Try brain dumping this, and then organising each task/item into a list, categorised in importance. This will help decrease stress throughout the day and easy referral back to this list.
  • Dress in some lovely clothes! Your fave sweater and some cool black tights? 100%!! What about that pretty skirt you like with a nice top? HECK YEAH!!!

Midday:

  • Lunchtime! Eat again. Wholesome foods are an absolute must whenever you can.
  • Aim for 3-4 cups of water by lunchtime (inclusive of the glass of lemon water you had this morning).
  • Remember that intention you set this morning? Say it again.
  • Throw a compliment at someone. Be genuine. This will have a butterfly effect. If someone throws one at you to – don’t disagree! Say thank you. You rock, don’t doubt that.
  • Are there any ticks beside those tasks on your checklist from this morning? I hope so!
  • Throw in a random burst of exercise! In public too – who cares! Pick one of these: 50 starjumps! 3 sets of 10 squats! A quick walk around outdoors!

Arvo (/Afternoon… Straya):

  • Hit that 3pm slump? Same. Here are a few ideas to get you going, especially coming home from a long day:
    • NAP! 15-20 mins. No longer. No less. Be strict here or your sleep pattern might go funny and we don’t want that. (And groggy headaches are gross)
    • Exercise! This is so fundamental to our health and wellbeing. Try out short pilates videos (no equipment) here (that as living proof, work) or some really cool yoga videos here, here, and here. Yoga is great. Try this daily. Or take a brisk walk for 30 minutes  = wake up your brain, pick up your mood AND burn some fat. C’mon, go get your shoes!
    • Have a healthy snack, such as those listed in this great post by @tbhstudying. Get your brain and bod going, my friends!
  • Write down your to do list for any work, study or event related things that you need to complete this afternoon. Set out all your equipment, sort out your papers from the day and get organised!
  • Clear your (bedroom/bed/desk/floor/work/closet) space for 5 minutes every day. I’m guessing that you’ve started to pile a few things here like I do. This will save you time and help maintain cleanliness, staving away from the complicated stress that comes from having to reorganise just about everything which we all know to hate when we’re busy with other things.
  • Have you had your 5th and 6th cups of water of the day yet? Get to it!
  • Sit up straighter and you’ll look more confident and feel more confident. Your back will also be very grateful for this.

Night:

  • Continue all your extra to-dos. Get this done. You can do it!
  • Make sure to put something in your body guys. I’m talking food here by the way… don’t let that sentence mislead you! This is especially important for those of you probably thinking “I’ll just eat later” or “I’m not hungry”.  Eat. EAT NOW. PleASE.
  • Spend some quality time with your family. How’s their day been? Tell them about yours too.
  • Glasses of water No. 7, 8 and beyond should be here.
  • Prep your meals, lists, notes, outfits, etc. for the next day. Getting these things sorted now will help you get it out of the way and save you time!
  • Settle down a little. It’s time to wiiiind doooooooownnn. Read a book. Scroll through Tumblr (aaayeee!) – but not too deep into the pits okay guys. Watch a little TV.
  • I know a lot of posts say to switch off 1-2 hours before bed. If you’re literally glued to your electronics, try switching off 5 minutes earlier every day and replace that with something else. What about doing your prep items for the next day (listed two points back!!)? Or, do get those pesky chores out the way.
    • Side note: Cleaning your room often will help freshen it, get rid of itchy dust and decrease the chances of bugs and other smol random things to crawl around your room. (If that’s not a little motivation then I’m not sure what is…). It’ll also keep your space maintained so you don’t have to do it all at once. *Shudders* Plus the likelihood of those gross germs from the world hanging around and building up in there is a no-no.
  • Sleep! 7-8 hours. Your body will thank you for it. CRUCIAL for healthy brain and body function. Plus your mood and skin will improve (i.e. gOODBYE EYEBAGS and hELLO GLOWING SKIN).
    • Side note: I see you reading this at 12am when you should be sleeping. I see you.

I hope this has helped you guys a little or at least inspired you to make a small change to your daily routine! Try doing a few items here (e.g. glass of lemon water, sitting up straighter, 8+ cups of water) and record this on a habit tracker! The smallest changes often have the greatest effects!

How to avoid burnout

I’ve had quite a few asks about ‘burnout’ from studying too much, so here are a few tips to avoid burning out:

  • Manage your time efficiently - here’s a link to my post on time management. Split projects into small parts - this helps with getting your workload to feel a lot more achievable, and I think it also increases productivity if you are ticking things off a list, and can see the progress you’re making.
  • Have a routine - by this I mean having clear times when you are working and not. Being in school/uni is not like a job - you can’t just leave work at the end of the day when you come home, because you have homework etc. but you can have clear times by which you’ll stop working. I make sure I stop work in the region of 8:00-8:30pm every night, to leave myself the evening to relax. I also find that having a morning and evening routine that incorporates nice relaxing things (like taking baths and reading) helps too.
  • Schedule downtime into your routine - when planning your day/week literally plan in time to relax - whether this is watching TV, playing video-games, reading or seeing friends. It’s so important to do this, if you don’t have downtime you will just go mad and burnout.
  • Make time for breaks - even if you are in finals week or working to a deadline, it is so important to plan in breaks to your revision/work. Each person is different in the time that they can work effectively for. I find that I can work for about 1-1.5 hours at a time before I start to become restless and distracted - so I always make sure to have a break and really get away from work for a little while.
  • Practise self-care - it is so so vital that you take the time out to do whatever it is that will help maintain good mental, physical and emotional health - this may be meditation, reading, exercising, having a long bath etc. Even if it is just taking 10 minutes before you go to bed to do some yoga, or making yourself your favourite hot drink, every little helps!
  • Start saying ‘no’ - this is something I have had to start doing this term as I just took on too much extra work and made too many commitments. You have to be able to say no to some projects/activities, otherwise you will just be busy 24/7 and have no time to relax. You have to realise that (even if you want to) you physically can’t do everything!
  • Don’t force work if you’re ill - if you have a cold/headache/the flu/having a bad mental health day etc. then you won’t be able to work as effectively or efficiently as you normally can. I think it’s better to take a few days completely off working, when you can solely focus on resting and getting well again, rather than trying to force yourself to work through the illness. If you don’t give your body this time to rest then it will just take a lot longer to get better again, and you’ll end up feeling burnt out.

This list is by no means all you can do, it’s just a few things that might help. If you feel that you are starting to burnout - if you are feeling anxious, stressed, fatigued or anything like that then make sure you reach out to someone (family, friends, GP). Don’t leave it because you think burnout isn’t serious, or that it’ll just get better on its own.

Sometimes being productive in the morning can be very difficult, so here are some tips on how to boost your productivity and stop procrastinating in the morning!

1. Get plenty of sleep-try to get at least 7-9 hours sleep at night so that you actually feel awake and willing to get up in the morning!

2. Change out of your pyjamas-although they are so comfy, keeping your PJ’s on is more likely to make you feel sleepy and want to go back to bed. You can still stay comfortable by putting on workout clothes or yoga pants.

3. Drink a glass of cold water-it’s honestly so refreshing in the morning. Keep a bottle or glass beside your bed.

4. Exercise-anything from 30 minutes of yoga to a walk to the park. You don’t need to go to the gym, but any form of exercise gets the blood pumping round your body, leaving you wide awake and ready to be productive.

5. Lay out everything you need the night before-this includes the clothes your going to wear, work you want to do and anything else you might need. Because it is already laid out you’ll feel less need to procrastinate.

6. Plan your time effectively-making a schedule for the day or using a planner/ bullet journal is great as you can allocate time slots for each task you have to do and it is extremely satisfying to tick things off. It also gives you a structure to stick to, meaning that you will know what you are doing at all times. Just remember to give yourself breaks!

7. Bye bye electronics-make sure to switch off all electronics you won’t be needing and put them in another room. You can even get someone to hide your phone from you if you think you’ll be tempted!

8. Download “Forest” app-I just downloaded this app recently and it’s amazing! It allows you to plant a tree and this tree will grow if you don’t use your phone. It’s super satisfying and really boosts my productivity, especially in the morning!

9. Eat a healthy breakfast-don’t skip breakfast, make sure that you eat something nutritious and filling, as this will make your brain more switched on and alert. I’m going to make a post soon about healthy breakfast ideas, so stay tuned for that. Some include: oatmeal, berries, bananas, smoothies, wholemeal pancakes, yoghurt.

10. Switch up your location-working/studying can be much more fun if you get out of the house sometimes. Try going to a coffee shop, library or a park if it’s a nice day. You’ll be more likely to want to wake up if you’re going out somewhere. ( I’m also going to be making a post soon about study locations, so stay tuned for that as well!)

Everything changed when those words left your mouth that night. Every little aspect of your life became hidden away and has been tossed and turned around since those letters that are locked together spewed out of your mouth and to the musty atmosphere that night.

Now your whole entire world revolved around Luke, Jocelyn, and school. You spent most of your time around their house so you mostly spent it by Jocelyn’s side, either playing with her or teaching her little things. When it came to Luke, you were always there to comfort him and give him the affection that he deserves, every night you were under him, letting him pleasure the deepest and most sincere parts of your body as you let kiss after kiss and words after words spew out of your lips about how amazing and perfect he was. He would always say the same back to you. You both grew closer together; you learned more about him as he did with you. He knows all of your secrets, thoughts, and what keeps you up during the night, and vice versa.

Now with school, you were so hesitant and scared about with. You were afraid to leave Luke and Jocelyn behind as you headed off to college, your mind would be so busy focusing on your courses and making new friends that you always got scared of the fact on what a toll it would have on the little girl and grown man that you love so deeply. You knew that you weren’t going to live on campus because your mom did not have the money for that, and you sure as hell know you’re not going to be moving out anytime soon, but you were so scared on what will happen when school does start up again and you have to leave. Luke always told you that you’ll be fine and that he’ll take care of everything and that things will be alright, but ever since you got into the picture everything has been so easy and perfect since you came along. Sure, you would be able to see them on the weekends, and if you were lucky you would also be able to see them during the week also but you wouldn’t know. And you don’t know, and that’s what you’re so scared about.

But all you do is take a deep breath and take it day by day and minute by minute. You live in the moment and try to keep yourself organize and remain calm as the summer begins to come to an end and back to school commercials start to play constantly on radios and TV’s. You just take it with ease and grace as best as you can.

When Luke saw your disoriented and frustrated self he knew that he needed to you get your mind off of school since that was the biggest thing ticking you off, so he suited up Jocelyn and himself and brought you all to the movies to go see a late night screening of Moana. To say you were happy was an understatement, Luke bought you as many snacks and candies as you and Jocelyn wanted, he let you both run around the arcade and play numerous games, he even let you beat him five times in air hockey, which you were so crappy in but he let you win nevertheless.

You were smiling from ear to ear when the movie was finished and Luke had his arm wrapped around your shoulder and your hand was in Jocelyn’s. This day was just going absolutely amazing and you knew just the perfect way to end it.  

“How about you get ready for bed and I’ll put Jocelyn down for the night,” You say, smiling at Luke as you begin to undo the little girl’s shoes in your arms as she was slumped against your shoulder, out like a light.

“Okay, thanks a lot babe,” Luke says while leaning forward and pressing a kiss against your warm cheek. You just smile at him before shooing him off and kicking off your shoes before hurrying to get Jocelyn to bed.

It took longer then you expected to get Jocelyn’s tired body to get ready for bed, her slumped out frame was difficult to get into her pink unicorn pajamas in and you could barely keep her head straight when trying to brush her teeth and comb through her hair. It was a hassle but you got through with it, you gently placed her on the bed and tucked her in nice and tight before making your way over to the night light to switch it on.

When you got up from the ground, your eyes looking around the pink coloured room to make sure everything was in place, you walked over to the door before you hear a sluggish ‘wait’ trail out of the little girl’s mouth. A small smile tugged at the ends of your lips as you walked over to her tossed figure and bend down.

“Yes Jojo?” You whisper while leaning forward and pressing your lips against her forward, your hand raising up and taking a stray hair way from her face.

“A-Are you like?” She mumbles, eyes still shut as her lips begin to drool with spit; you roll your eyes before using your sleeve of your cardigan and wiping it away.

“What am I like?” You remark, your eyebrows rising as you begin to pet her hair.

“Are you l-like my mom now?” She asks, her words slurring a bit.

Even though she wasn’t due back straight away, the house had been a flurry of activity that just left you completely exhausted. Every night, you’d finish late and head home, looking at the missed calls and collapsing asleep before you could call him back.

Grocery Store

AN: Here, have an Alfred one-shot since you’re all such great people

It’s like clock work; Tuesdays, nine am, middle of the vegetable section. You can always count on him being there. He’s always dressed in a suit, a partially full grocery cart at his side, and the way his face lights up when he catches sight of you, makes you smile.

    He notices the small things; the way you style your hair, new earrings, a new dress. The two of you walk the store together ticking things off your lists while exchanging things about your life.

    And then one day he doesn’t show. You pass it off as an exception. After all the two of you have never exchanged numbers, so he has no way of contacting you. And all you have is a name, Alfred Pennyworth.

    It’s three weeks before you see him again. And when you do, you can see the change. He’s solemn, stoic, and most importantly he’s sad. He tries to brush you off, but you’ve never been on to stand for that. You coax him into leaving his cart with an employee, and to a small restaurant nearby.

    That’s where you find out the things he’s left out over the two years you’ve spent shopping with him. He’s the butler for the Wayne Family. You’d read about what had happened, and the fact that a young boy had watched his parents die, had horrified you.

    He’s scared. He has no idea what it means to be a parent, and he had no clue how to raise a child. He’s the butler. Not a father. He can’t even get the boy to leave his room! You consider being a soothing presence and you decide against it quickly. Your words are sharp but true.

    “Alfred Pennyworth, you stop this nonsense right now. The minute that boy’s parents died and you were handed custody, you became his father. The first thing we’re going to do is get him out of that room and to eat something. After that’s done we’ll form a plan of action.”

    “We?”

    You hesitate for a second, there is no entering this man’s life without entering the child’s. And children need stability. If you entered his life, their lives, you were there to stay. It takes you half a second to decide. You nod, “We. Lord knows you’re helpless without me, Alfred Pennyworth. Need I remind you of the time you nearly grabbed cabbage instead of lettuce?”

    He smiles at you, and you stand, “Let’s finish the shopping and then I’ll follow you back to the house.”

    He stands too and smiles, “I don’t know how I can thank you.”

    You smile, “It’s quite simple. You can make me dinner.”

    He smiles, “How could I ever turn down such an amazing offer?”

    You shrug, “You can’t.”

A/N: wow I’m so bad at updating, I’m so sorry ahahah. This is a small portion bc I needed to split up what I’ve already written and I’m not sure when I’ll finish the actual part 3 bc I have mid-terms next week! I feel super bad for making y’all wait so… this is roughly (4000/11000 words i’ve written). It ain’t much but ya know don’t hate me pls haha.

Previously…

You run your hands up and down your neck in horror as you see matching dark marks on your neck. What are these? Who did this? Just what the fuck happened last night? Did fucking Jimin— Son of a bitch.


You run to your door, pulling it open hurriedly just so you can catch him but Jimin had made a quick escape.

You slam the door shut, searching instead for your phone. You call him once, twice and he doesn’t pick up… which is odd since he’s practically glued to his phone like all the time. You let out an annoyed groan and settled on texting him instead, fingers furiously tapping at the screen as you typed out your message.

[1:09] You: Jimin what the fuck happened last night?

[1:09] You: how am I even going to hide these marks?

[1:09] You: why couldn’t you just keep your nasty mouth to yourself?

[1:10] You: answer me asshole

[1:10] You: I know you’re reading these

[1:10] You: you’re on your damn phone all the time when we’re doing the quizzes

You wait 5, 10, 15 minutes and there’s still no reply. You go to the bathroom for a quick shower and run to your phone immediately after getting dressed and still no reply. You examine the marks once again and you rest your head on the wall, grumbling at yourself for having too much alcohol the night before.

Even with a scarf, you couldn’t cover the marks that ran all the way to your jawline. You apply a generous amount of foundation and concealer, hoping to hide the petals of blue and purple but you could still see a hint of colour even after slathering on what seems like almost half the bottle of foundation onto your neck. Frustrated, you simply shove the last of your belongings into your bag and make your way to the library.


The throbbing headache you had made it very difficult for you to concentrate on the books you had in front of you. Despite sleeping till 1 pm, you still felt exhausted and you promise yourself to never have that much alcohol again. You sigh, this was starting to sound like what you used to tell yourself every week last semester.

After finishing the last section of your lab report, you allow yourself to take a quick 20-minute nap because honestly you could barely keep your eyes open anyway. You check your phone again, you’re still waiting on Jimin’s reply but your lock screen still comes up blank. Placing your phone to the side, you sink down comfortably into your chair and rest your head on your arms. You will your mind to remember the events of last night but the moment you shut your eyes, you simply drift to sleep.


Your night comes back to you in the form of tiny flashes, simple snippets, each one making you regret the night more and more. The short flashbacks are not in order and it isn’t enough for you to build a coherent timeline of what was your exciting Friday night but they were truly enough to make you feel like flinging yourself across the room.

It has been two years since you and Shawn started dating, so he knows nearly everything about you now. He knows that your relationship with your family is interesting to say the least. You love them because they’re your family, but at the same time, they’ve often been really critical of you, and you were never sure exactly why. You’ve always felt like nothing you could do was good enough for them. And you feel like your parents always compare you to your brother who is a doctor and your sister who is a lawyer. You’re in your second year of University studying English, which your parents don’t consider a real study. They’re always sending little jabs your way regarding your job and pretty much all of your life choices.

It makes you sad every time you have to go to family dinners or anything else with them because it is honestly so difficult listening to them talk and feeling so judged by the people who are supposed to love you no matter what. Tonight is yet another of those nights that you have a dinner. They don’t happen too often. Maybe only once every few months and that is about as often as you see your family. 

“Are you sure you want to go?” Shawn asks you while pulling off his t-shirt to change into the dress shirt you laid out for him. He’s hesitant because he knows you always feel sad and hurt after seeing your family, and he hates to see you like that.

“You’re so annoying can you just shut up for at least a minute! My head is already hurting I don’t need your annoying voice making it worse!” Jeff yelled at you. Recently he’s been getting ticked off by the slightest things, you just stared at him in disbelief. It had never gotten to the point where he would yell at you. You began grabbing your things from around his room to start heading home.

“Oh so now you’re just going to leave me while I’m in a crisis! Just great shows how much of a great girlfriend you are.” Jeff stated while rolling his eyes.

“How do you expect me to help you if you won’t tell me what’s wrong and you keep yelling at me?!” You yelled. Again he rolled his eyes and sighed.

“Leave honestly you’re no help, just leave!” He said quite annoyed. You ran out his room, you were not putting up with his attitude. You honestly had no clue what was going on with Jeff, he wouldn’t look at you the same, you guys would always fight and you guys would no longer go on cute dates. Cute dates were your guys’ thing! His attitude now almost remind you of how Zach was right before he cheated on you. You began to wonder in your thoughts and soon tears started forming at the thought of Jeff turning out like Zach.

Instead of heading home, you went to your little spot. Which was a little spot by a lake. You always sat there when you needed to think. When you got there you noticed someone there as well. You ignored that and just say a couple feet away from them. They turned and you noticed it was Zach. You got up and began to slowly walk away.

“Y/N you can stay, I’ll leave.” Zach said while getting up. You turned around and he noticed you crying.

“Is it alright if I ask why you’re crying?” Zachary asked. Why did he care honestly.

“Why do you care, a couple weeks ago you told me I was a joke and a slut just leave me alone.” Zach rolled his eyes and left. Everyone was rolling their eyes at you today. You hadn’t noticed how long you were there until you snapped out of your thoughts and noticed that it was already dark outside. You got home and your parents bombarded you with questions.

“Where were you?”
“Why didn’t you answer your phone?”
“We both called you multiple times! Do you know how worried we were?” You apologized and told them that it was because your phone died which was true actually. You left them and headed to your room where you plugged in your phone to charge. Once your phone had turned on you went through all the notifications, 6 missed calls from dad, 10 missed calls from mom, 15 missed messages from both mom and dad but no messages or calls from Jeff.

You felt like Jeff had started losing interest in you. Maybe he was tired of you? Maybe you just aren’t a good girlfriend in general. That night you did not sleep at all. Great now you were going to look dead in school. That morning you put on makeup to hide the fact that you did not sleep and that you were crying. You waited for Jeff to pick you up but minutes passed by and he never came. He was never this late, so you started waking instead. You noticed him laughing with his friends. Maybe he was actually in a good mood today you thought.

“Hi babe,” you told Jeff as you walked up to him. He just nodded not saying a word back. You stood by him and he pretended like you were invisible. You sighed there was no hope. School that day went super slow and was extremely boring. When you got out of school you were surprised to find that Jeff was waiting for you in his car, you smiled and got in.

“You actually waited for me.” You stated while looking over at him.

“Um no actually I was waiting for Clay but I guess you could come.” He said looking annoyed, now you just felt like a bother. The car drive was full of tension between the two of you. When he dropped you off at your house he didn’t say bye, he didn’t even look at you.

“Why are you acting like this Jeff?!” You asked, you were tired of it.

“Acting like what?” He said, was he seriously asking that.

“Acting like you don’t give a shit about me anymore, you can’t even look at me! Do you know how scared I am of you turning out like Zach! This is how he started out, by acting different. Next thing you know you’re gonna cheat on me as well.” You said, he clenched his fists.

“Never again compare me to Zach.” He said with gritted teeth, looking straight ahead. You were actually scared for your life so you honestly just got out of the car before something happened. You went straight to your room and just sat on your bed.

That afternoon you went to Jeff’s house, you were honestly scared feeling as if maybe he was cheating on you. You just need to find out what’s up with him. You knocked on the door and a couple minutes Jeff opened it, he sighed once he saw you. You walked in and walked to his room following him.

“Jeff what’s going on, why are you acting like this?” You asked as soon as you guys walked into his room.

“The fact that you even thought of me turning out like Zach and hurting you like that made the situation worse. How would you even think of me like that Y/N, you know I’m completely different than him. I promised myself and you that I would never hurt you like he did.” You hugged him.

“I’m sorry I compared you to him, it’s just that this is how he started out and I was scared because I didn’t want to go through that again.” You said into his chest.

“Don’t worry, I promise I won’t.” He said while putting his fingers through your hair. You two laid on his bed while cuddling. You on top of him while your head was resting on his chest were you could hear his heart beat. Soon enough both of you dozed off into sleep.

You woke up from the nap and turned to see that Jeff was already awake on his phone. He noticed that you woke up and smiled,

“Hey princess, Jessica is throwing a party wanna go?” You thought about it and decided to go, you and Jeff were pros at partying. But little did you know how horrible this would all turn out.

You wore a short dress that Jeff decided for you to wear because he thought it made you look hot while wearing a small amount of makeup. Jeff picked you up from your house and you both headed to the party. As soon as you arrived you saw the huge crowd of people who were either drinking or making out. Jeff parked and you both got out of the car,

“Promise you won’t drink babe.” You told Jeff, he was the driver so you didn’t want that happening. He nodded while giving you a kiss.

“Atkins has arrived!” The boys cheered, you looked at him confused as to why but he just told you not to worry. You left Jeff to go greet your friends,

“Hey Hannah I haven’t seen you in so long!” You said while hugging her, she smiled and hugged you back.

“I know we need to hang out soon.” She stated you nodded, you two continued to chat but then you were thirsty so you left her to go find something to drink. You passed the boys were one of them was chugging a beer, you looked to see who it was. It was Jeff, already broke the promise. You just stood by the boys watching him chug it, in a matter of seconds it was gone.

“Your boyfriend is the king at chugging beers.” Bryce said, you just rolled your eyes. You watched the boys give Jeff another one and him gladly taking it. He looked at you and walked over to you,

“Have I ever told you that you’re hot.” He said, the strong scent of alcohol coming from his breath. You grabbed his arm trying to pull him out of the group of guys. It was no use because he wouldn’t. Instead he just kissed you his hands wandering all over your body. You pushed him off of you,

“What’s wrong babe?” He said getting closer to you leaning in for another kiss. You pushed him off and walked off. You went to the bathroom and looked in the mirror, you sighed he smeared all your lipstick. You washed it off and went back to the kitchen to try and find a water. Luckily you found one. You walked back to the living room to try and find Hannah, instead you found Jeff kissing another girl. This is another thing you were worried about,

“Atkins that’s not your girl!” Zach yelled and all the guys turned to see him and let out a loud chorus of ‘oooohs’ while looking at you. You went up to Jeff pushed him away from the girl and slapped him. Hannah was the first to run and try to comfort you, she offered you a ride home and you thanked her. She took you home where you just ran to your room to cry. The whole night was full of crying but no sleeping. Thankfully it was finally now summer so you didn’t have to deal with school and running into Jeff.

The next morning you didn’t even want to go downstairs to serve yourself breakfast. Your parents went away for a business trip and thought leaving you alone would be fine since Jeff would be there with you, but guess not. You made yourself get up and went downstairs to eat cereal, lucky charms your favorite. You went to the living room and turned on the tv and started watching cartoons. You used to do this all the one with Jeff, and Zach but now they’re both gone and it’s just you. You got a message from Jeff,

“Babe what happened yesterday everyone is telling me I fucked up?”
You ignored it and put your phone on snooze and went back to watching cartoons. After you were done with your cereal and the cartoon episode was over you went through the notifications on your phone, all being from Jeff.

“Babe?”
“Y/N”
“What happened?! What did I do?!”
“Was it bad?”
“Clay just told me, babe I’m so sorry I was drunk and I couldn’t control myself!”
“Please forgive me, I know I promised not to ever hurt you babe please forgive me.” You were interrupted when someone was knocking on your door. You got up to open it and saw Jeff, he reached in to hug you but you put your hand preventing him from doing so. He just looked at you, his eyes filled with hurt. Why was he hurt? He wasn’t the one who was cheated on.

“Y/N can we talk please?” You moved to the side signaling him to come in. You both sat down on the living room sofas. You honestly couldn’t even look at him so you just played with the chipped nail polish on your nails.

“Babe—”

“Don’t call me that,” You said quietly.

“I’m so sorry, I’m just so fucking stupid.” His voice was becoming shaky.

“I fucked up with the most amazing and beautiful girl ever and I can’t imagine my life without her, I promised her I would drink and what did I do; I got drunk. I promised her and myself that I wouldn’t be like her ex and hurt her; but I did just that.” At this point he was crying. You just stayed quiet. Tears filling your eyes. You weren’t sure you wanted to start dating him again, you needed some time.

“I need time.” You stated, looking up to look at him in the face. He just nodded and reached in to hug you, like before you put your hand to prevent him. He looked so hurt, but you were hurt too. Should you give him a second chance?

HI!!! I'm currently studying my HSC and am now 4 weeks until trials and I was wondering if you have any study suggestions for revising or anything you can suggest??? I downloaded your study planner and tried to keep on top of that but I can't figure where to start for trial studies!!!

Hey! Ahhh, my first year trials were the reason I started by studyblr! They sucked the life out of me. I was dreading them. Plus I hated English with a passion so my motivation was soooo low! Anyway, here are a few things that I did second year that really helped:

  • print off the syllabus of your classes - use it determine what you do and don’t know. Put a squiggle next to things that you definitely need to revise! The syllabus is like an outline of what could be coming in the exam so be sure you use it fully. Look each each point and use it to format your notes. Look at the themes and questions that they place along side the dot points! You can go back and tick off things as you review them.
  • write/type up notes - I typed up my final study notes and it made life a lot easier! I used OneNote and it was really easy to format them in my note taking structure. I would also rewrite these notes in mind maps or flashcards to help me memorise. The briefer you can make them, the better. 
  • go beyond your textbook - I can not stress this enough (especially in HSIE subjects). Your textbook generally gives you an overview and a little more of extra information however you can research everything yourself. For instance, legal studies and history require evidence to prove a point. The exams aren’t going to ask you to tell the marker how legislation is made or about how Hitler grew up. It’s going to ask you something specific - like it’s role, how important something was, if it is effective. Use the internet to find this out!! Historians, reports, articles, etc are all perfectly valid sources that show the marker you understand more than just the background information.
  • write practice essays - honestly, such a helpful thing to do. They don’t have to be full 1200 words, just a few bullet points per paragraph with your key ideas. I wrote a practice essay on international law prior to my legal HSC exam and then the question turned out to be on transnational law so I had a perfectly crafted paragraph stored in my brain. If I hadn’t written that essay, I’d have screwed up that section for sure!
  • do practice papers and time yourself - being able to time manage and understand the exam format is crucial. Try to get yourself to be writing about 700/800 words (ish) in 40 minutes. 
  • read sample answers - another miracle I found whilst studying. Check if your school library has the HSC workbooks from previous years. Just reading other peoples essays can really teach you about structure, what vocabulary to use, and where the markers are seeing how good their writing is. 
  • utilise my study planner - thank you for using it already!! Try to study for at least an hour a day. For trials, we had the week off apart from going in to the exams. I would replicate the school day and dedicate as much time as I could towards studying. Use the planner to loosely map out the times. You don’t have a schedule everything to the hour. Just rough estimates that don’t really matter should you go over.

“Y/N, are you okay?” Dean asked as he shook you awake. You didn’t remember much except that you had trapped the witch in the corner of the room and then she threw some powder on you.

“I think so. I mean I don’t feel any different.”

“Well the witch threw something on you, but we don’t know what exactly.” Sam said, searching around the room.

“Did you at least kill her?” Their shook their heads no.

“Y/N, what’s the one thing that ticks you off about Dean?”

“Dude, what the hell?” Dean asked. Sam put his hand up in protest.

“Well, I hate the fact that he doesn’t chew with his mouth closed and just stuffs his face with nothing but greasy foods. Oh! When he thinks everyone else wants to listen to Zepplin all the time, but in reality I wanna listen to some god damn Backstreet Boys. He’s pretty selfish when it comes to things like that.”

“Confession spell?” Dean asked.

“Confession spell. However, I’ve never seen it in powder before, so I’m thinking we should call-”

“No, we’re not calling Crowley. We’ll go to the bunker and read every book we have to fix it ourselves.”

“We still have to find the witch and kill it Dean. We need him to fix her.”

“Fine.” 

We got in the Impala and went back to the bunker and by our surprise, Crowley was already there waiting for us.

“Hello boys and beautiful Y/N.”

“Well he’s not trying to hide anything now is he?” You said and walked right past him down the stairs.

“She’s not wrong, you know.”

“Bloody hell. Well, I’ll see what I can do. Was there anything particular about this spell?”

“It was a powder, but that’s about all we know.” Sam gestured to himself and to Dean.

“A powder? That’s new, but all she has to do is confess the one thing that she denies the most.”

“So, what does that mean?” Sam asked.

“Moose, I thought of all people, you would understand. Usually with this, it’s probably something to do with love.”

“Well, we know she doesn’t like either of us, so maybe Cas? Or even you?”

“Splendid. I’ll see what I can do.”

“Thanks Crowley.” Dean said and they walked back outside. You turned and looked at Crowley.

“God dammit.” You said and hit your hand on the table.

“What’s wrong?”

“What’s wrong? Do you see this place? It’s a mess.” Books were scattered all over the place and papers were on the floor.

“Would you like some cleaning?”

“God, yes. I would love some help.”

“Is there anything else you’d like? A kiss? A good time, if you know where I’m getting at?” You turned around and looked at him.

“I’d love all those things from you, but-” You fell to the ground. You woke up to find Crowley smiling at you.

“Is it over with?”

“Yep. You confessed and now you and I are going to go have some fun. I left the boys a voicemail.” You smirked and grabbed his hand and went off to have a good time.

Today was Saturday which means you and Carl had officially been dating for a month now and all you had felt today was nervous, just because it was yours and Carls anniversary.

Though you two had spent so much time together as best friends, when youse had started dating it didn’t feel like anything had changed. But you knew there was something that hadn’t happened and it should have. Youse two hadn’t kissed yet, not because you didn’t want to but because you didn’t know how to. You had never had a boyfriend before but you knew Carl had had a lot of former experience before youse two were together.

Tonight, you and Carl were going on a date for your anniversary and Carl had volunteered to take the reins on the night, so you had no idea what was going to be planned. The only clue you had been given was to wear casual clothes.

It was only 3 o’clock and Carl was coming over at 6 so you still had a little while to get ready, even though you still had a while to get dressed you had decided that it would be best to just get it out of the way before Carl arrived. You were wearing some jeans, a jumper and a shirt, casual is what he asked for so casual is what he will get, you thought to yourself. While you waited for Carl to show up, you had decided to waste time by going on your phone and laptop, nothing helps to make time fly more than being on the internet. 

It was 5:58pm when Carl arrived at your door step, right on time. You grab your things say goodbye to whoever was home and walk out the door ready for the night ahead, you had been given a curfew of 12 o’clock which was the latest you had ever gotten, but your family knew tonight was important to you.
