things i should have posted here

dunno where this came from, but whatever. screencapping since i’ve blocked you, but might as well bring it around again.

i was an absolute idiot last year. i didn’t care about anything except writing fanfiction, even at the expense of people of colour. i was writing a fanfiction using all of my knowledge retained from my history classes and numerous projects to make an AU that i never should have made to begin with.

if you would have ever taken the time to read things that i post on this blog, instead of cherry-picking through it to find the things that you want to condemn me for and nothing else like people of your kind do, you would have seen that half a year ago, i completely pulled the story. the chapter was redacted and put back on the board for mass editing. i have removed any nuances to american slavery, and have re-purposed it as an omnic crisis au.

here is the post i made, if you’d ever cared about using your eyeballs and reading things, even if they are going to put out the fires on your stupid internet arguments and the sending of hate mail. good on you.

Lines for all three babbies, though I should note here that they are not all babbies at the same time I just wanted to draw them that way. Will be drawing them at corresponding ages next. I’m still hashing out timeline stuff for fic related things (technically I have started said fic, it just won’t get posted yet because I want a good chunk written out first).

- Leftmost boy is Dokarr, he’s the oldest. By the time the events of the show happen, he would technically be an adult (equivalent of like, 20-22 range for humans). When he is grown, he looks almost exactly like his dad save for his eyes. He is very protective of his siblings.

- Middle boy is Dran, would be a teenage troll by the time the events of the show happen. He is constantly getting into or causing some sort of trouble.

- And lastly, youngest is Leska. Still a child by the time the events of the show happen. She is a spoiled little princess.

mishcollins replied to your post “i have to thank you bc i saw you talking about umfbamha and i started…”

everyone’s talking about that umfbamha thing! How do I sign up for the pain™? Is it on ao3?

here’s the link so you can get started on that journey to feels hell!

Advice to Baby Witches

Here’s some things I wish someone told me when I was first starting out

  • You’re gonna find a lot of sources that are Wiccan. So if you don’t want to follow Wicca, it might be harder to find things that talk from a non- Wiccan perspective. This is not the only perspective. I encourage you even if you are wanting to follow Wicca to seek out specifically non-Wiccan sources to get a different view point. (nothing against Wicca here; I just think it’s healthy to get differing opinions)

  • It’s still witchcraft even if it doesn’t look like what books/Internets witchcraft looks like. Remember that:
    1. Everyone has a different way of doing things and your craft will never ever be the same as anyone else’s.
    2. The people posting about what witchcraft they’ve done are most of the time showing a perfected version of it. You are just starting out. You should not hold yourself up to the standards of people who have had more time and practice.
    3. It’s actually good that it doesn’t look like anyone else’s because that means that it’s entirely your own.
  • I know it can feel very daunting first getting involved in witchcraft because there is so much to learn. Trust me, you cannot learn everything, and that is okay.

  • Take things step by step. Find something that really excites you. For example, say you are really interested in deity worship. Focus on just that first. Research different deities and meditate on the ones that interest you. Once you feel like you’ve learned enough (you don’t have to be an expert by any means, just to a point where you feel like you have your foot in the door) then you can move on to something else. You don’t have to do it this way, but I found it helped me narrow things down.

  • The idea that “if you don’t know what your doing with witchcraft it can backfire” is a myth. Don’t be afraid to explore, learn new things. That being said, I wouldn’t recommend doing anything outside your skill level either. Maybe save the big deal curses for when you have a good grasp on them. Listen to your intuition on this one, if you feel like something you’re doing is too much for you, don’t do it right away, but work your way up. Don’t give up on it, either. Like I said, if you feel like you don’t have the ability to do something, get to a point where you do.

  • You will have thoughts like “this won’t work” “you’re being stupid” “it’s just some *conventionally useless item*, that can’t do ANYTHING” this is okay. Any intrusive thoughts that tell you it’s not going to work are fine, especially if you are mentally ill. It does not mean your magic looses it’s power because you had an intrusive thought. Yes, the best way to make your magic work is to believe it will work, but intrusive thoughts will not automatically stop the magic from working. Just try your best to overcome them, whatever technique you have for that will work fine. I always use my inner voice to talk back to my intrusive thoughts and say something like “What? That doesn’t even make sense! You’re being ridiculous, random voice in my head that has no attachment to me.” and try to ignore it. Your mental illness does not make you a less powerful of a witch, remember that.

  • You are much more powerful than you realize. Own this. Be empowered by it.

  • You don’t have to have a whole bunch of extravagant altars and read your tarot cards and meditate every day to be considered a ‘real’ witch. You do magic without even realizing it sometimes. It’s sometimes hard to do anything big because of busy schedules/low spoons/being closeted or whatever. Try and incorporate little things in your daily routine. I did this by Stirring my tea clockwise and focusing on the cup, while repeating “this tea will improve my day” in my head. It works great for practicing putting your intent in things, focusing your energy, and it can even work if you live in an unfriendly witch household! Get creative with the little things you can do everyday. And even if you can’t do those things sometimes, don’t worry about it!

  • Be very careful about cultural appropriation in your practice. It can get very dicey as to what is offensive to include in your practice and what is not. I can tell you straight up right now that anything taken from a Native American culture is not okay to incorporate in your practice. A very popular thing that’s taken from Native American culture is smudging. Don’t smudge. There are many alternatives to this. That being said, some things are ok to take from other cultures because those cultures aren’t practiced by living people/are part of a culture or religion that is open to outsiders taking it. Don’t bat yourself up for doing something then finding out it was offensive, because when you recognize it then take necessary steps to fix it, that’s you growing as a person and is a positive change. If you aren’t sure if what your doing is cultural appropriation, ask yourself:

    1. Is what I’m doing practiced by a group of people today? if yes, you’re in the danger zone, but it does not  necessarily mean it is appropriation
    2. Is the religion that it comes from a closed or open religion? (this means is it ok for outsiders, people who do not follow the religion, to practice it. example-Judaism=closed, wicca=open) If closed, it’s probably appropriation.
    3. Am I apart of a race that has a history of oppressing this group of people? If yes, you might want to be cautious about it.
    4. If it is deity related- Do the deities in question give me permission? if no, then definitely do not do it.
    5. What would a person from that religion/culture think if they saw me doing this? If they would not like it, it might not be okay.
    6. Is this from my heritage/ancestral background? Don’t worry too much if the answer is no but you passed most of the other questions, This one is mostly because if you grew up in a Jewish/Catholic/Muslim/other closed religion household, wanting to incorporate that in your practice is ok.

  • You do not have to be religious to practice witchcraft. Your craft can exclude deity work of any kind.
  • Don’t be afraid to ask what you feel are stupid questions. If your really scared, google is a very handy tool and most blogs have that anon option for a reason. :p

Mmk, spoons are low. Feel free to add any advice you think I’m missing. I really hope this helps someone!

I’ve seen many differing opinions on the finale of SKAM and thought I’d throw my hat in the opinion ring.

First thing you should know is that Even is my favorite character. That doesn’t mean I don’t love and adore Isak too (I really really do) but I connect with Even on such a deep personal level. But this post is me defending my smol butter bean Isak because people are coming for him and Mama Bear ain’t having it.

People are upset with what Isak said in his conversation with Eva about him and Even. There are claims that Isak doesn’t love Even as much as Even loves him. I’ve seen anon after anon harping on the fact that it sounded like Isak has accepted that his relationship won’t last.

Well that is not what I took from it at all.

Eva: “So is he the man of your life?”

Isak: “I don’t know.”

Eva: “He’s not?”

Isak: “Is it important?”

Ironically, I think this is a really important. Isak is not saying that Even is not the man of his life or they are not meant to be together forever. Isak is saying that all that matters, is right now. And right now Isak is deeply in love and committed to Even and their relationship. Isak is doing everything in his power to make sure that him and Even are together and that they are okay. Isak acknowledging that it might not be forever and that it could end at any moment doesn’t take away from that. He’s realising that’s what makes every part of it, good and bad, so beautiful and real. It makes the good great and the bad terrible but it’s worth it.

Pretty words and fluff are great, I am here for it but give me real tangible action any damn day. And that’s what Isak is doing. He’s showing his love and commitment every minute of every day that he is in this with Even. That to me means everything. They are building a beautiful strong foundation for a relationship that could last the distance. So I don’t understand people questioning or doubting Isak’s feelings for Even.

Ummmm, did we watch the same show? Did you see how devastated Isak was when Even called things off and then kissed Sonja? Did you see Isak not sleeping properly? Did you see how depressed he was when Sonja told him Even’s feelings were because of his mania? Did you see Isak crying on the phone to his Dad telling him that things between him and Even were over? Yes, Even told Isak he loved him (via text) and that was amazing but maybe Isak isn’t ready to say it back just yet. And it’s okay if he isn’t. But he sure as shit is showing Even he loves him no matter what, no matter how big the challenge. He’s in it. If that ain’t love, I dont know what is.

I’ve also seen people talking about Isak being controlling when it comes telling Even he can’t have any of his weed because it isn’t good for him. Again I didn’t see it that way, I didn’t see it as controlling behaviour. Isak is acting on what Sonja told him about weed being bad for Even so I understand why he did it. It wasn’t about controlling Even, it was about protecting him. There is definitely a conversation that needs to happen which they couldn’t have at the time because they were in the middle of a party. Maybe neither of them smoke or maybe Even can handle smoking a small amount recreationally. Again, it’s a conversation they need to have.

I did appreciate that Isak used humor to break the tension in the moment. It reminded me a lot of Even earlier in the season when things would get too real or heavy and Isak shut off, Even would break through that Isak’s walls with humor. Never would have thought sucking dicks in the dark and aluminum legs could make me so nostalgic but here we are. Now Isak throws in Even’s Mom hiring him to be Even’s caretaker/boyfriend to break the tension. I thought it was a great throwback/parallel moment.

The reason I think that they are going to be fine is because they fit so perfectly together. Even is the romantic. Everything is big, cinematic and epic. He’s the artist. The filmmaker. The storyteller. Then you have Isak who is the realist. The producer. He loves the concept/story but he’s trying to figure out how to make it a reality. Being with Even forever is a beautiful concept but how do they realistically achieve that? And for Isak that means not thinking/worrying about where they are going to be at the end up in twenty years. For Isak it’s taking everything day by day, hour by hour, minute by minute and dealing with things as they happen. That is extremely smart and mature way to look at a relationship.

And in return Even makes Isak want to be part of that epic story. Whether they get their happily ever after or not. Even makes Isak want to live and love and experience the entire human range of emotions and experiences that Isak has suppressed and avoided for so long trying to hide who he is. They balance each other out so well. They save each other. What a gift. I actually physically hugged my laptop screen after watching the final clip because I was so happy, content and emotional. It may not be everyone’s cup of tea but to me it was the epic love story and ending just solidified everything I had felt over the course of the season. I can’t wait for season 4.

Endgame: Steven will poof

As far as christmas episodes go, Three Gems and a Baby was surprisingly subtle in that it never explicitly dealt with christmas. That said, for any other topic the symbolism doesn’t get more ham-handed than that. From Greg’s dolorosa pose and garb, the snow-in, and the three wise women coming baring useless gifts (what the fuck am i supposed to do with myrrh?)

Finally, there’s the fact that the whole episode is about discussing the nature of a half-human half-immortal child who will grow up to become the savior of earth.

It’s pretty obvious what they’re angling at, so I feel I should give a spoiler warning here because things are getting really goddamn plot-twisty. Here it is. Don’t come crying to me when you get spoiled

Okay, are you ready?

JESUS FUCKING DIES!

Okay, sorry, I know I’m supposed to wait a bit before I post stuff like that, but what’s done is done.

Okay, but what does that have to do with Steven? Well, by casting steven as the baby jesus in the nativity scene, the crew is adding a huge and explicit connection upon him. If steven was just your typical half-human half-alien savior, it could be played any number of ways, but the addition of a christ allegory narrows down what sort of savior he is. By making Steven a christ-figure, he is now burdened with the responsibility of sacrifice

Steven’s arc will have to end in his death!

Okay, that might have come out wrong. Obviously even if the writers wanted to kill off a child the FCC would come down hard on their ass. No, he would need to come back from it. Aren’t we lucky then that gems can regenerate and that the christ narrative is defined not by death but by resurrection.

Steven will poof and reform at the end of the series!

Edit: I’m going to discuss why Rose won’t come back if Steven dies later, but someone raised a good point that I need to bring up: We don’t know if Steven can poof.

Well, as it turns out, Steven need not poof for this all to play out. Even without a a body made of easily reformable light, Steven still has several more safety nets.

First off, let’s not forget that Steven’s mouth is full of healing saliva. Even if he’s seriously injured, he’s in constant contact with a substance that heals instantly. Of course using that would be fucking cheap even though we’ve known about it the entire time.

No, Steven’s real safety net is far more mundane

Connie!

Now, I could go easy here and bring up the fact that connie has access to both her mother’s ambulance and defibrillators as seen in Steven’s Birthday, as well as the statement that she knows how to use them, but in the end, drama and young love are the real asset here. CPR is called the kiss of life for a reason, and I don’t doubt Connie knows it. What better way to save their first kiss for the right moment than having it happen with her resuscitating him at the finale!

Woo! Cute cliches!

Okay, now that rose thing

I’m going to clarify right here and now that Rose is not coming back. Steven will poof, he will regenerate, and Rose will remain a small part of him. There are two reasons for this, both of which are metafictional

The first and biggest reason is that fundamentally, having Rose come back is identical to killing Steven. Even if she retained Steven’s memories, Steven’s identity would no longer exist.

The other and almost equal in brobdingnagianity (god I love recycling that SAT word), is the fact that so much of the show is defined by the irreversibility of Rose’s death. Loss is a fundamental part of who we are as a species, and no matter how much we want it, the dead aren’t coming back. As ironic as it is to bring up when we’re discussing that another character is going to be resurrected, the fact remains that everything about the story, about the characters and their arcs, hinges on the idea of moving on. Steven has an easy way to sacrifice himself and survive it, but Rose is already gone.

i feel like…we should talk about borderlines actually being manipulative more? not in the context of like “all borderlines are evil and inherently manipulative” but like the motivation we can have to try to ensure we aren’t abandoned or hurt. and it can be little things or we may not even realize we’re doing it. and that is a sad reality that leads us to question whether or not we’re being manipulative; but in the same vein it is good to check yourself sometimes. borderlines are not evil and not inherently abusive (while, as anyone, they could be in theory, we’re more likely to be abused and there’s nothing about borderlines that makes us abusive) but I feel like manipulation isn’t something I hear much about. it’s another one of those less #relatable things that will get less notes because it promotes “toxic behavior” like my dude listen if you don’t do harm and you’re acknowledging the fuckiness it can be beneficial to talk about it. manipulation isn’t a good thing, no; but neither are our violent impulses or suicidal ideation. it needs to be discussed like everything else. manipulation walks a fine line but don’t be afraid to talk about it in this community.

It mattered

I wrote this for my lovely, lovely girlfriend who’s been absolutely wonderful these past few days and also suggested I post this in case tfp ended up being a fuck-up.

So here’s a ficlet about how tfp should have ended because “who you are doesn’t matter” is utter crap. (Salty? Who? Me? Never.)

Also thanks to Coline and Fish for being the best fellow space lesbians anyone could wish for.

headcanon of the day is of niall and harry at a party - any party - after an argument of some kind. something about the nature of their relationship, the uncertainty of the perimeters of it raised by one of them that makes the trip to the party in question strange - makes them both feel out out sync, like their heartbeats are out of tune.

other people happen, alcohol happens, and once they meet again it’s hard to speak. harry corners niall somewhere – finds support in walls and a sticky floor and braces the soles of his shoes for possible resistance. he won’t let niall get away without words of reassurance. can’t keep celebrating one thing or another unless he knows that niall knows. so he says, “I do love you. You know that, right? That I love you.” and niall doesn’t say it back. he probably rolls his eyes, placates with a hum of “yeah. yeah, haz, sure,” and presses lightly with wide palms over that defined chest, those familiar pecs that absorb the hitches of his breath so beautifully when they’re intimate with each other.

and harry is drunk, and harry is in love, and harry has a heart in that chest that tunes into niall better when they’re close like this, and he doesn’t protect it as well near niall as he does within the rest of the world, so he’s hopeful. runs on that hope and the alcohol and the love, and blindly believes that niall truly knows. that he’s fluent enough in harry that he gets the weight of his words, of his confession. so he presses a sloppy kiss to niall’s lips, and makes the prettiest noise when niall sighs out fond exasperation in the gap between them before drawing harry back in for another kiss. a proper one, with tongues covered in alcohol.

and then, when harry’s staggered back out among the people and is dancing with all those long limbs and that pretty face as though the world can’t possibly be better, someone comes up to an entranced niall and asks him how he is these days, if he’s seeing anyone. and niall can’t believe himself. can’t believe that he is in love with that fool over there. can’t believe that there was a time in his life when he wasn’t. and he says, “well.. there’s that,” with a nod over at the hurricane on the floor, and he’s never been happier.

alright, i guess my time has come

Hello, my name is Andrea and I am mexican.

Lately, there has been some drama in the SW/RO fandom concerning diego’s heritage/skin tone and whatever, all initiated by tumblr user @hijadepavlov and some post of hers that i cannot link for some reason (?) that states diego luna is white.

Before i start with my argument, i wanna thank all the people who refrained from commeting because they weren’t mexican/latinx or something like that. you did the correct thing.

(please, take in mind that im talking exclusively about mexico. i have no idea what the situation is in other countries)

the things @hijadepavlov addresses in her post are, unfortunately, accurate. Diego does represent a tiny, privileged portion of the population here in this country. he most likely did benefit from his skin color to break into the film industry and it is not fair that people with darker skin cannot obtain the same opportunities, and yes we should be critical of it.

Now, with that being said, i want to point out this: being lightskinned does not make Diego any less mexican. he was born and raised in this beautiful country, in a middle class family– which means that he had the same experiences as the other 60% of the population. he knows the national anthem, he knows who benito juarez is, he knows that polanco is very nice while iztapalapa isn’t. he is mexican.

This is even more important considering that the U.S just chose a president that literally fucking targets us, MEXICANS (not argentinians, not colombians, not anyone else) as drug dealers, rapists and criminals – and no, this isn’t just about pride and the fact that someone insulted us. Mexico’s economy heavily relies on the US and to have a president that is publicly against us HAS HAD A HEAVY IMPACT ON MEXICO’S ECONOMY. THIS COUNTRY MAY ENTER RECESSION THIS YEAR. PEOPLE WILL LOSE THEIR JOBS. PEOPLE WILL SUFFER. THIS IS SERIOUS.

So to have Diego Luna, a man whose nationality and accent has been degraded and stepped on, play the role of a hero in a Star Wars movie is fucking huge. It tells people “Hey, that stupid cheeto we chose for president was wrong about mexicans! they can be nice and talented!” and it, quite literally, gives us hope that maybe this year won’t be so bad, after all.

People here in mexico love him (hell, i saw one of my classmates describe him as God Himself) and we are incredibly proud of him. we look at the movie and feel represented. we feel delighted at the thought of a paisano making it big out there. Mexico is proud to have Diego Luna.

And because i feel like i did this a little too mexico-centric (i have never in my life used such a combination of words lmao) i want to tell this to everyone out there: it’s okay to love diego luna even if his skin color doesn’t match yours. it’s okay to relate to him even if your nationality doesn’t match.it’s okay to feel represented by him. mexico is in a hard position right now, and to have you guys support an actor from here is literally a blessing. it makes me so happy to see so many different people (whether they’re other latinos,  black people, white people or asian people) to love so dearly a person from here it’s really… undescribable. thank you so much.

Now @hijadepavlov it’s okay you want to call out colorism in the film industry, however it is definitely not your place to state whether someone is or not mexican or latinx enough.

thank you very much, hope yall have a good day.

Hey I’m backkkkkk.  I haven’t drawn a comic in ages but here we are.  Haha remember this? The ol’ “undertale Sans and underfell Grillby should be a thing and also Underfell Sans can come hang out too” wellllllllllll here we are.

this is part 1.  when it turns into sansby kissing stuff i’ll lose my nerve and stop posting it but you’ll at LEAST get a few more updates before then.  um.  i’m sorry.  in advance.  for everything that i have become.

fun new game:

reading quotes from the martian in pidge’s voice

“I’m gonna have to science the shit out of this.”

“Yes, of course duct tape works in a near-vacuum. Duct tape works anywhere. Duct tape is magic and should be worshiped.”

“How come Aquaman can control whales? They’re mammals! Makes no sense.”

“Maybe I’ll post a consumer review. “Brought product to surface of Mars. It stopped working. 0/10.”

“As with most of life’s problems, this one can be solved by a box of pure radiation.”

“I don’t want to come off as arrogant here, but I’m the best botanist on the planet.”

“Things didn’t go exactly as planned, but I’m not dead, so it’s a win.”

“I should have died.”

Cullen: The last time I was here was the day I left for Templar training. My brother gave me me this. It just happened to be in his pocket, but he said it was for luck. Templars are not supposed to carry such things. Our faith should see us through.

Quiz: I don’t think it worked. You haven’t been all that fortunate.

Cullen: I should have died during the Blight. Or at Kirkwall. Or Haven. Take your pick. And yet, I made it back here.

Oh man. This seems like quite an innocuous thing to say, but I think there’s actually a lot to unpack here. I normally choose the top or middle answers for everything, so I’d never heard Cullen say this before. To understand how devastating this line is (and I actually teared up when he said it) we need to understand Cullen’s history.

So, friends, let’s dive into a biography and character analysis of Cullen Rutherford (much longer than originally intended; my deepest apologies to mobile users who weren’t looking for a history lesson today) - under the cut so I don’t hit you with a wall of text. CW for some discussion of torture.

Buying a firearm

I’ve gotten a lot of questions asking for advice for what models people should look into for different purposes and am working on getting some posts going about that, but realized a lot of people probably aren’t sure how to get started at all. So here goes! A short overview of what to expect the process to be like.

The first thing you need to do is check to see if you’re eligible to own a firearm in the country generally. If you’ve been convicted of a felony, hospitalized for mental health reasons against your will, have been convicted of domestic violence or some kinds of assault/battery, or have been declares by a judge to be unable to care for yourself, you will likely not be able to pass the FBI instant background check system (NICS) which most gun vendors use before selling firearms. Even in these cases there are some exceptions, based largely on where you live. For instance, not all states report forced hospitalizations to the FBI, meaning NICS does not have access to those records in every state. You also want to make sure you feel confident that you can be safe owning and operating one- if you think you’re likely to hurt yourself, I do not recommend buying a gun whether you pass a bg check or not.

The second thing to do is look up licensing requirements in your state and then meet them. Not every state requires a license to own a firearm, but many require a license to legally conceal one. In some places the wait time for getting your license is massive and in some it is relatively short. So you’ll want to get whatever applications you need together as soon as possible. In Illinois you need a license to own and another (absurdly expensive) license to carry concealed. Again, this stuff varies a lot by state.

Third you’ll want to do at least some research on what gun models you are interested in. The best research is going to a local gun range with a rental program and trying out several. For instance, the place where I usually shoot charges a low, flat rate fee for rentals that allows you to try out every rental gun they have if you want. It is a good way to understand how this particular gun works for you. Maybe it looks good online but feels odd in your hand, or maybe you thought you’d hate a certain way of using sights and it turns out you love it. This is the best kind of research you can do. After you’ve decided what model you want, you have a few options for buying.

  • Buying at a gun shop. The safest route in terms of quality and in terms of not meeting a guy in an alley and hoping to not get robbed. If you are buying used, they will have inspected the firearm already to ensure it’s at least in workable condition. Often their staff is very knowledgeable and ready to answer any questions you have because it’s their job to sell these things. They sometimes charge more for things than private sellers, but they also often have sales- my gun range runs new sales every two weeks. Overall a good option, but can be uncomfortable if you feel unsafe going into a store often filled with armed conservatives. Basically, you will walk into the store, ask to buy a particular model, and ask your questions. They will take your ID to run a background check (some states require two forms, look this up before you leave home) which comes up fine in 90 of cases. In some states there are wait periods before you can get the gun- in these cases you’ll pay, keep the receipt, and pick it up either 24 or 72 or however many hours later.
  • Buying from a private seller. Least safe option. This is just like craigslsit, but with guns. In fact, Armslist.com is the site I have used for this. If you have used CL, you know the drawbacks- people cancelling on you, promising you something then selling it, etc. All that good stuff, but also when you show up you are aware they have at least one gun. Not for the faint of heart. When you show up, you want to look for signs of wear (might post a link later) that indicate the gun is shoddy, or they have done poor repair work, etc. This option does have some benefits. For one thing, you get used stuff very cheaply. For another, you can haggle. There’s also the benefit of meeting someone in real life for it. What SHOULD happen is, you give them whatever documentation is needed in your state and fill out the appropriate paperwork, you give them cash, they give you a gun. I know I made this sound super dangerous because it is, but I’ve had good experiences with Armslist. I bought my first pistol off Armslist!
  • Buying online. This is how I bought my rifle. The way it works is, you pay for the firearm online. They ship it. BUT of course they don’t ship it to you- they ship to an FFL (a store with a license to sell firearms- you can look up FFLs in your area easily). It is that store’s job to then check your ID, run the instant background check, and then transfer the gun. Most places charge a transfer fee for this ranging from the reasonable, like $20, to the outrageous, like one store near me charging $75 for the service. It’s a good method. Sometimes you can even email the store your license and they’ll start the background check and (if applicable for your state) waiting period then. That way you show up, pay for cash, and leave quickly. Same as buying in person really.
