they were at the con i went to

In the closing arguments during Ted Bundy’s trial, prosecutor, Larry Simpson discusses when the serial killer visited a dance club moments before the tragic Chi Omega Murders:

“In Sherrod’s, Mary Ann Piccano also saw the man. He scared her so bad, she can’t even remember what he looked like. He came up to her, and asked her to dance. What were the words Mary Ann Piccano used to her friend when she went to dance with the man? She said, ‘I think I’m about to dance with an ex-con.’ Ladies and Gentlemen, this man was next door to the Chi Omega sorority house the morning of the murders, and there was something wrong with him.”

It went downhill pretty quickly.

Context: We were fighting a group of goblins, and a goblin boss, with a party of a Dragonborn Fighter, a Dwarf Fighter, a Human Sorcerer, a Wood Elf Druid, and myself as a Dwarf Ranger, all level 1.

Druid: How far away from me?

DM: All the remaining goblins are 10 feet away from your group.

Druid: I run up to the group and cast Thunderwave.

Me: You know you’re going to kill us, right?

Druid: I look back apologetically as I cast the spell.

DM: Ok, everyone roll con saves

All but 2 of the goblins fail, and everyone in the party saves, except for myself.

DM: Roll the damage.

Druid: *rolls 15 on the damage*

Me: I’M DEAD YOU FUCK!

*Once it got to the Dragonborn fighter’s turn*

Dragonborn Fighter: Fuck them all, I’m using my cold breath!

DM: Even though you’ll hit the Druid!

Dragonborn Fighter: EVEN BETTER!

One of the goblins failed it’s save, the goblin boss saved.

DM: Druid roll a con save.

Druid: *Nat 2*

Dragonborn Fighter: *rolls 10 for damage*

DM: Fuck… Orruk (the dwarf fighter), please kill this fucker.

Dwarf Fighter: I think it would be best.

Me: I fucking hate you guys.

A little bit later

DM: You find the gem you were sent into the dungeon to search for.

Dragonborn Fighter: I pick up the gem

DM: Roll constitution, as once you pick up the gem, you are hit with sparks of electricity that shoot through you.

Dragonborn Fighter: *makes save* I want to throw this at the Druid

DM: Fine, roll AC, add strength, no proficiency

Dragonborn Fighter: *Rolls 14, hits the Druid*

DM: When the hell did this turn into a PvP session?!

Me: I don’t even know where to begin.

so at a con I went to a while back, vic and todd (edward and ling’s english dub actors) proceeded to tell us about how they’d gone out for a nice steak dinner together and that when the waitress asked if they were celebrating any special occasions, they said it was their anniversary and they ended up getting a free souffle out of it and I’ll be damned if edward and ling wouldn’t do the same thing for free dessert

We played a game last night where we sorted Doctor Who clips onto what I like to call “The Castellan-Soldeed Scale of Melodrama.” The lowest mark on the scale represents the egregious under-acting of “What? No, not the Mind Probe!” while the highest mark is the ham-fisted melodrama of “mY DREeeEEeems of CON-quest!” Why did such cheesy acting exist in early Who? Well, film was expensive and budgets were small. Redoing a scene was prohibitively expensive and as a result these serials went out in a charmingly unrefined state. Results as follows:

0- The Castellan: “No, not the Mind Probe!” from The Five Doctors

1- Guy who is shot by Zaroff: [Does not react when a gun in pulled on him] [Makes no movement when shot and dies noiselessly] from The Underwater Menace

2- Crowd, upon hearing the announcement of a new age of prosperity: [a few lukewarm hurrays] from The Pirate Planet.

2.25- Fedorin: [Drinks poisoned wine, chokes, apparently attempts to wash it down with another sip of poison] [Falls over] from Enemy of the World

2.5- Guy from crowd who actually raises his arm in celebration. Props to you. From The Pirate Planet.

3- Group award to everyone in The Ambassadors of Death shootout who displayed Python-esque levels of under-acting.

4.3- The Doctor, holding the Master at swordpoint while dramatically eating the Master’s sandwich. From The Sea Devils.

5- True neutral, appropriate acting for the situation at hand. I nominate Solon’s surprisingly even-handed acting in The Brain of Morbius.

5.5- The Seventh Doctor’s famous “UNLIMITED RICE PUDDING” monologue mocking Davros in Remembrance of the Daleks.

6- The Sixth Doctor’s ‘evil mastermind’ monologue at the very beginning of The One Doctor.

6.75- Zaroff: NOTHING IN THE WORLD CAN STOP ME NOW! From The Underwater Menace.

7- the very end of The Dominators, where Two attempts to stop their companions from falling over in an earthquake and just kind of. Let’s Zoe fall into the gravel while they cling onto Jamie

7.5 The melodramatic fighters in the Ambassadors of Death shootout, notable mention to Action Hero Brigadier.

8- “Ramon Salamander” (really the Second Doctor in disguise) cowering away and falling onto the floor because they’re afraid Victoria might hit them

3.5-8: Croagnon in the body of the Chief Caretaker. Was nominated to both under-acting and over-acting and I can’t argue with either. Apparently the creative staff told the actor to tone it down and he wouldn’t listen. From Paradise Towers.

9: the end scenes of The Dominators, particularly Rago yelling “OBEY!!!” Made funnier by the fact that The Dominators is possibly one of the dullest serials in Who history.

9: The famous “No one in the colony believes in Macra! There is no such thing as Macra!” monologue from the mostly missing serial The Macra. If you haven’t heard it, please look it up. We were howling with laughter as we were watching this.

10: The one and only “My DReeeeAAAAMS of CON-quest! scene from The Horns of Nimon.

Selena Gomez wore Marc Jacobs Beauty to the 2017 Met Gala created by Marc Beauty Global Artistry Ambassador Hung Vanngo.

“I was originally going to do something very soft on Selena Gomez —the twist was the bright pink eyeliner I came across while sorting through colors. I thought it would be a fun punch of color.⠀

After applying Coconut Primer, I buffed Genius Gel into the skin. I added luminosity to the skin by blending Dew Drops Coconut Gel Highlighter on top of the cheekbones, the bridge of the nose, and on the Cupid’s bow. I followed with a little Remedy Concealer Pen under the eyes, and Re(Marc)able Concealer wherever a bit of extra coverage was wanted. To set, I used Perfection Powder through the t-zone. I then dusted the high points of the face with O!Mega Bronzer and added a swirl of Air Blush to the apples of the cheeks.⠀

For the bright pop of color on Selena’s eyes, I drew Matte Highliner in Popular along the top lashline, into the crease, and onto the outer third of the eyelid, extending outward. I blended this into the shape I wanted with a brush. I then applied the soft pink shades from Style Eye-Con No. 7 Palette in The Lover as a wash across the entire eye, and along the bottom lashes. The lashes were thickened and defined with a coat of Velvet Noir Mascara on top, and just slightly on the bottom with Feather Noir Ultra-skinny Mascara.⠀

For lips, I wanted to keep the same tonal color story. I used one of my favorite colors from New Nudes, In The Mood . Before applying this, I softly outlined lips with (P)outliner in Nudeist.⠀

For a glow on the body, I went back and added Marc Glow Stick in "Spotlight” on the collarbones, shoulders, arms and the legs.⠀

A quick spritz of Coconut Setting Mist on the way out the door, and she’s good to go!“

The Sexy, Bearded ‘We’

Pairing: Jared x Reader x Jensen

Summary: Jared says something at a con that really gets you going.

Word Count: 1,795

Warnings: threesome, oral sex (male and female receiving), smut

A/N: AU where Jensen is single, remember this is fiction! If you’re a die-hard Jensen girl and don’t want to read Jared smut, stop now. If you’re a die-hard Jared girl and don’t want to read Jensen smut, also stop now. If you’re a j2 girl, you’re in for a treat. Also I’m going to church to confess my sins after writing this.

You sat backstage, listening to your boyfriend and his costar answer a question about the beards he and Jensen had grown over their break from filming.

“We like to call ourselves - Jensen and I - the sexy, bearded ‘we’.” He grinned.

You’d always had a thing for Jared’s beard. The way it scratched at your face when he kissed you, the way it felt between your legs, just scruffy enough to leave red patches between your thighs. And there was no denying how unbelievably sexy Jensen was as well. When they both grew their beards out, good Lord.

After the panel, you met Jared in the green room, Jensen following closely behind him.

“Oh, the sexy, bearded ‘we’ is gracing my presence.” You swooned jokingly.

my least favorite personal experience with geek mansplaining is when i was a con in a full sabine cosplay, and some guy was like “so is this like a custom mando or something?” and i was like “actually no, im sabine wren from rebels” and he just stared at me and i was like “you know, the cartoon” and he was like “oh, so youre bo-katan”

“…no, im sabine”

“sabine is her sister, you mean bo-katan”

“no youre thinking of satine, im sabine, a different character from rebels”

“no no im pretty sure i know what im talking about i was watching star wars before you were probably alive”

this went on for like 5 minutes until finally someone was like “hey can you come here for a picture” and i got out of that conversation

Okay, so here’s a recollection of the best day of my fandom life? #ECCC

I’m usually just here to make short, dumb, spazzy comments, so bear with me, because this will probably be long. However, I’ll try not to be too repetitive and remember the interesting parts. ;) Apologies if the pics are effing huge. I don’t do this posting thing - ever. hahah

Jack Maynard Imagine - Sneaky (SMUT)

When you first moved to London from Wiltshire into your older brother’s flat, the last thing you expected was to catch feelings for one of his best friends.

You would be lying if you said Joe hadn’t warned you about dating any of his mates. At first, it had just been a joke, a silly little thing to tease you and annoy you. But as he saw you getting closer and closer to Josh, Conor and Jack, he backed up on his joke-y tone.

He wasn’t worried that much about your friendship with Conor and Josh, mainly because deep inside he knew they only looked at you as a friend. And if they happened to have any sort of romantic feelings towards you, he knew they’d hold them back, or at least ask him for approval- because you were his little sister and Joe was one of his best mates.

But when it came to Jack Maynard, Joe couldn’t relax. It wasn’t like he didn’t like him; he was one of his closest friends after all. Maybe that’s why he suffered, because he knew Jack’s past concerning relationship, and although he was a good person, he was not as good with feelings. And he was scared he’d break your vibrant heart, the one he had taken care of for so many years.

But he had seen you together on both of your channels, and he couldn’t deny there was something about your relationship that was almost drawing. He noticed that your personalities were in fact more similar than he had thought at first. He also noticed you always ended up crying of laughter when you were with him, and seeing you happy made him happy.

Yet it was still Jack Maynard he was talking about. Joe, as the observant brother he was, knew that you needed lots of sweet behaviours and cuddles to function, and he doubted Jack could give you that. So he had that tiny hope, that perfect plan which would constist of you forgetting all about him because he was too cold-hearted for your taste.

But his plan never met reality.

A few months ago, in one of Gleam’s fancy parties on a big mannor lost in the middle of the forest, he had seen you kissing him at the isolated back garders. At first he had exploded with rage. He had warned his idiotic friends - especially that idiot - not to lay a hand on his sister, ever. Yet there he was, his full lips covering yours, your tiny and fragile body wrapped under his hands. And Joe was livid.

He decided not to tell anybody that he had caught you, though. He thought it was a smart move, to keep an eye on Jack and you, and look at you suspiciously, until you’d finally admit what he had seen with his own eyes. But although Jack and you started officially dating a few days after your first kiss, it was still a secret to everyone else. Especially to your brother.

Now, as you sat in the back seat of Conor’s Range Rover, Josh between Jack and you, you got the sudden feeling that maybe a weekend off camping with your brother and your secret boyfriend wasn’t such a great idea.

“How long until we get there?” Josh asked Conor, who was currently driving. Joe and him had just switched seats.

“Half an hour, I believe” he answered back.

“Mikey just texted me saying they’re stopping because Caspar wants to fucking pee” Jack said, getting loud groans from both Josh and Joe. Oli, Mikey, Caspar and all your belongings were in Caspar’s car behind yours.

“I need to stretch my legs so badly” you commented, as you pushed Josh aside “You’re literally too fucking big to be in the backseat, between two other people”

Josh laughed, throwing himself at you jokingly. You let out a scream as he crushed your petite body “Careful” Jack and Joe said at the same time, making your cheeks go a tone redder. You saw Joe giving him a weird look from the rear mirror.

“She’s alright” Josh said, sitting back up. He ruffled your hair, making you giggle.

“I still don’t know why I agreed to let you come with these idiots” Joe told you, half joking.

“I’m my own person, Joe. Get over it” you answered bitterly, getting loud cheers from the boys. Joe simply looked out of the window, and said nothing.

For the past few weeks, you had noticed a change in Joe’s behaviour towards you. And you were annoyed. He was more bitter, worrying about where you were and what time you were coming home, although he had never cared so much about it before. But you weren’t stupid, you knew he was up to something. You suspected he knew about Jack and you, but you hoped you were wrong. He had warned you about Jack when you first met him, and of course you hadn’t listened.

Then again, Jack didn’t turn out to be as bad as your brother had told you. Before your first kiss, you had been really close friends, and he had always cared for you and your well-being. Joe knew about that time Jack punched a guy in the jaw at the club because he didn’t leave you alone - so what did he have to say against him?

Jack as a boyfriend was the sweetest you had ever imagined him to be. He always wanted a cuddle, or a kiss on the tip of his nose. He treated you like a princess, roses and bubble baths included. If Joe knew about that side of Jack, he’d be more than delighted  with your relationship. But you thought that maybe he was too stubborn to see it, and so you decided not to mention that particular aspect of your social life to him.

When you got to the camping site, it was almost dinner time. Caspar and the rest arrived twenty minutes after you, but you couldn’t really start putting up the tents because everything was on his car. So you just hung out in the cafeteria, laughing at some random video Josh had put on his phone.

“Took you guys long enough” Conor laughed as he went straight for the bags.

You walked behind him to grab the tents, which turned out to weight a ton more than you expected. You were struggling to get them out of the trunk until you suddenly felt them getting a lot lighter.

“Lemme carry them, babe” Jack said, putting both tent bags under his armpits. You thanked him with a smile.

“Joe! Jack just called your sister ‘babe’!” you heard Caspar shout in the middle of the parking lot, and you immediately wanted to punch him.

“You better back up if you don’t want your balls cut off, buddy” Oli commented, not being able to supress a laugh as he grabbed the last bag and closed the boot.

Caspar walked by your side and rubbed your head “You know I love you, Y/N” he smiled, and you rolled your eyes “You have to admit that Joe’s reaction at the posibility of you getting rid of the Sugg and replacing it with Maynard is pretty funny, tho” he laughed.

You blushed “Stop it, Caspar” You could see Jack smiling by the corner of your eye.

“Oooh, someone’s blushing” Mikey commented in his usual too-loud-voice, and you rolled your eyes again and walked away from the boys, trying to forget the awkward situation you had just been in.

Soon enough it was right past midnight, and you were all chilling out in the moonlight. Conor started telling stories about famous people who turned out to be quite the assholes, and not long after that Caspar had fallen asleep.  You were sitting besides Jack with your feet over his legs, feeling the burning look of Joe’s eyes in your own. But you didn’t want to look at him.

“Shit” you muttered as your hand blindly tried to grab something from inside your bag that obviously wasn’t there “I think I forgot my portable phone charger in your car, Con” you told him.

“No prob” his hand went to the bottom of his jeans before he tossed the car keys at you.

Just when you were standing up, you felt Jack getting up again. You gave him a weid look “You’re not going by yourself, it’s pitch dark” he said, and all you wanted to do was to kiss him right there. Sometimes you wished everyone knew, so you didn’t have to hide to act couple-ish.

But as soon as you made sure you were out of their sight, you threw yourself at Jack and wrapped your legs around his torso. He laughed before pressing your lips together hungrily, your tongues already fighting for dominance. He let yours win this time.

“I’ve been dying to kiss you all fucking day” he whispered in your ear, the hot steam coming out of his mouth setting you off. He started working his way up your neck as he carried you towards the car.

You let out a small moan as he sucked on your special spot, and dug your fingernails on his shoulder blades. He groaned in response, and attacked your lips again. Soon enough your back was pressed against Conor’s car’s bonnet.

“I want you so bad right now, Jack” you almost pleaded, as his hands travelled to the zip of your shorts.

“I’ve been wanting to get rid of these all day, babe. You have no idea” he whispered roughly. Suddenly, you felt a big ball of pressure between your legs, as Jack introduced two fingers inside you, already thrusting in and out rapildy. You let out a high-pitched cry.

Jack looked around “Get inside the car” There were not many vehicles around, and definetly no one out there. But the last thing he wanted was for someone to walk into the parking lot - seeing his luck that someone would be Joe - and catching you having sex against a Range Rover.

You did as he told you, your jeans barely hanging on your hips anymore. You thanked god the backseat of Conor’s car was big enough. Jack immediately took your shorts off, and then your lacy underwear he loved so much to tease you over. But he knew he didn’t have much time, and he wanted you so badly.

You let out a loud whimper as you felt his tongue sucking on your clit, his strong hands holding your hips tightly. You arched your back as your hands looked for something to grab. They finally went to his hair.

“Jack” you screamed, your voice breaking as he introduced yet another finger inside you. Ever since that morning, you had wanted no more than to be all over him like when you were alone in your apartment. You loved Jack’s sweet and loving side, but you would be lying if you said his rough and dominant side didn’t get you every time. His touch was your weakness, and he knew it.

Eventually, the emptiness he left when he removed his mouth from you  was replaced with his lenght. He let out a loud groan as he pulled in, giving neither of you enough time to adjust to the new feeling.

It took you long enough to actually have sex once you started dating. At first it was because both of you were literally too busy to see each other - Jack also travelled quite frequently to Brighton to film whatever his secret project was. So the first time you properly slept together, it was a mix of lust and desire. Because you had wanted to see how good he was in bed for a long time, and he just couldn’t resist the thought of you lying naked under his body.

He started thrusting faster, making you scream like you never had before. You felt the car starting to move up and down, and you hoped there was no one in the parking lot at that exact moment. You prayed for that someone not to be Joe. You let out the loudest scream as you reached your high, your fingernails pressed against his back, not being able to breathe properly anymore. You cried his name.

He hugged your torso as he came not long after you, pulling you into his lap so you were straddling him. He thrusted into you a few times before you felt your walls clentching again, and you suddenly felt him filling you completely. He groaned as he hid his face on the crook of your neck, still holding you “I needed you so bad, Y/N” he whispered “I couldn’t take it anymore”

You let out a small laugh. You kissed the top of his head before it hit you “Do you realise we just had sex in the back of your brother’s car?”

“Way to ruin the moment”

You burst out laughing before releasing yourself from him. He pulled you in for a deep kiss “I love you, idiot” he said, making you blush.

“I love you too, silly”

You put on your shorts before making your way to the camping site again, hoping you hadn’t taken too much time on the car, or else it would rise some suspicions. Sure enough, when you got back to the tents, only Conor, Joe and Oli were still outside.

“Damn, did you go back to London to get the bloody charger?” Oli asked you, and suddenly you realised you hadn’t even cared to take the charger. You mentally slapped yourself.

“I couldn’t find it” you said, throwing the car keys to Conor. You locked eyes quickly with your brother, and that’s when you knew that he knew.

“I don’t know about you guys, but I’m going to bed” Oli said, clapping Joe’s back, who was next to him “See you in the morning, babes” he laughed before getting inside his tent. You then noticed there were only two tents left, and four of you out there.

You looked at Joe “Am I sleeping with you?” you asked him, thinking it was the most likely option. You had shared a bed with him before, after all.

“No” he said “You and Jack are sleeping together”

You froze, making Conor burst out laughing. You looked at Jack, who was indeed as confused as you were “I mean, it doesn’t take a scientist to know that you guys have a thing going on” the oldest Maynard said, making your heart jump.

“What.. How do you know?” you mid-whispered, looking directly at your brother, not even bothering to deny it anymore “How…? What the hell, Joe”

Joe smiled for the first time. It was a small smile, but you were finally calm “I’ve known for a couple of weeks now” he said “I caught you guys kissing at that Gleam party a few months ago, and then again like, two and a half weeks ago” he confessed.

“I caught you yesterday” Conor laughed “I immediately texted Joe as the good brother I am”

Jack rolled his eyes, but smiled because he wouldn’t have to pretend not wanting to kiss you every minute from that moment on “Are you mad?” you timidly asked Joe. He shook his head.

“I mean, I’d probably choose the other Maynard if I were you” he joked, making both Conor and Jack laugh “But  if this idiot over here treats you well and loves you, then I have nothing to say” he said, making you blush.

“We are all gonna be family!” Conor shouted excitedly, pinching Joe’s side repeatedly.

“Are Jack and Y/N having babies yet?” Caspar asked, his voice coming from inside the tent he was sharing with Josh.

“Hey, hey, I said nothing about babies” Joe said, before he laughed with Conor. You were glad he had taken it so well. You suddenly felt Jack’s arms around you, pressing you against his warm body.

He whispered into your ear “Why don’t we go inside and finish what we left off at the car?”

“Sneaky bastard” you mumbled before plating a loud kiss on his lips.

“Wait” Conor said as you were getting inside the tent. But you were too impatient to listen to whatever he had to say “Did I just hear ‘car’? Fucking shit, you better didn’t do anything disgusting on my baby, I swear to god” he fake cried.

You both laughed as you pressed your lips together once more. Oh Conor, only if you knew.

[What is the most difficult or challenging episode you’ve done so far?]

CaitrionaYou know, it’s great when Sam and I have fight scenes, or emotional scenes, we feed off each other in those scenes. And it’s always great ‘cause I know how to push his buttons, I think, in a scene and vice versa.

Sam: I’ll push back.

Caitriona: Literally, actually! We had a scene this season - which is not really a spoiler - but we were rehearsing and I gave him a little push. And Sam just went  * B O O M *  and I flew across the room, landed on my butt, and I couldn’t walk for about four days properly. “Aww,” see, yeah! Yeah, trying to fight with a He-Man is challenging.

Sam: Those are always the great scenes, though. We really enjoy them, don’t we? Taking chunks out of each other.

Caitriona: Throwing things at each other.

Sam: Yeah.

Is it wrong of me to really hope this entire moment from rehearsal makes it into the Season 3 Gag Reel? 😂

something I was gonna comment on that Fyre Festival post but it kind of became its own huge rant:

I’ve seen LOOOOOOOOOTS of folks joking/comparing this shitshow to Dashcon but like… when Dashcon went to shit you just had a bunch of young folks (largely LGBT+ Midwestern nerd kids) trying to help each other out.

A big part of the rallying for donations to “keep the con going”, that you don’t hear about often because it isn’t so easy to make jokes about, is that word at the time was that artists affiliated with the con were going to get booted out of their hotel rooms onto the street if the con was cancelled. (I don’t know if this was actually true. As with many things about that con, I’ve heard conflicting reports. But it was widely believed enough to drive many of the donations.)

After that? We went back to our disrupted panels and had fun as well as we could. ( @markdoesstuff comes to mind, his panels were a definite high point to that weekend.) Except for the artists there who made a portion of their living off cons, not a lot of folks there who could afford to go to things like this often. It would be a waste to chalk the whole thing up to a loss. Those of us who couldn’t stand the atmosphere of the place that wronged us anymore largely went off and hung out with our newfound friends elsewhere. Dashcon is infamous as a failure, and rightly so, but it really sticks with me how the oft-maligned “teenage girl” con crowd still managed to salvage the parts that weren’t directly ruined by poor management.

Not to make it sound like we were complacent with what happened. Of course, we were angry. Of course, many complaints were made to the management of the con for what happened… but I didn’t see a single person rioting or otherwise taking it out on innocent fellow congoers or panelists.

In that light, the comparison becomes way more damning for the entitled rich folks setting their tents on fire.

i can’t believe i literally only just remembered this but i went to rhode island comic con in 2012 and billy dee williams, the guy who plays lando calrissian in star wars, was there giving a panel among others.

in the q&a one guy asked billy if he had any idea why, after han solo is frozen by jabba, lando is wearing han’s clothes, as seen below:

billy dee williams, in front of a crowd of like 300 people, went on to explain that his personal theory is that lando calrissian and han solo were FUCKING WITH THE LIGHTS OFF, and leia came into the room and they scrambled to get dressed before she turned the lights back on??? and put the wrong clothes on

i just think that’s magical. han solo is canon bi him and lando fucked

Here’s my breakdown of what happened at C2E2!

I spent Friday attending professional panels for the comics industry, which probably deserves a post of its own, but I don’t think anyone is interested in me talking shop. But Saturday was devoted to Agents of SHIELD stuff with Iain and Liz. I had an amazing time and so many awesome things happened. Truly it was the best con experience I’ve ever had and, as @bigfunnywords (HEY Tumblr finally let me tag you!) said, I lived my best life. I’ll try to do the tl;dr version but this will probably get long.

Putting the rest behind a cut for your scrolling convenience.

Our experience at Dashcon 2014

I’ve been trying to decide whether or not I actually want to talk about our Dashcon experience.  If you know us IRL you’ll know that my wife and I recently went on a trip to Canada/Chicago purely to attend Dashcon.  And following what happened with the convention, I was in two minds.  Do we simply wash our hands of the whole situation, or do we talk about what happened?

Given that my wife received an anonymous message on her blog telling her to go and hang herself, I was leaning more toward the former.  I almost wanted to pretend like we were never there.  But after reading almost everything about the disaster, I think there are a couple of things that need to be said from our perspective.

request: Hi! I love your work would you be a able to write an archie x nerdy sarcastic girl type imagine please :D maybe where the girl gets into a fight with some popular girls but doesn’t take any of their crap

“It seems you forgot the deal we had,” Stephanie, a popular cheerleader and one of Cheryl’s so-called best friends, crossed her arms in front of you. You were sitting on the bleachers outside while your boyfriend Archie had football practice, reading an old classic British novel.

You sighed, wedging Archie’s guitar pick he gave to you between the pages as a bookmark, closing the book and looking up at her. “I’m sorry, your royal highness, I do not recall signing a contract.”

Stephanie narrowed her eyes. “You know what I mean. You break up with Archie, I won’t tell everyone where you went last summer.”

You squinted your eyes back for a moment, trying to remember what she was talking about, until it hit you. You laughed. “Oh, that! Right.” Really, you only agreed at the time to shut her up. You didn’t ever see yourself breaking up with Archie for any reason.

“It’s not funny!” Stephanie grabbed your shirt, pulling you so you were standing up.

“Woah, woah, okay, calm down!” You grabbed her hands, moving them off your shirt, but now she was standing tall in front of you, chin up, ready to start something.

“What’s going on here?” Archie ran over to you two, moving to stand between you and Stephanie, until you put out your hand, holding him aside.

“It’s fine. Hey, Archie, do you know what I did last summer?” You asked, raising your eyebrows.

“Um… visited your grandma… went to Comic-con?” Archie recalled perfectly, confused.

You grinned widely, turning to Stephanie. “That’s exactly right!”

Stephanie crossed her arms again. “Ugh! That’s so stupid, how could you not be embarrassed of that!”

You threw your arms up in exasperation. “God, you’re right! I’m so embarrassed of meeting Chris Evans, especially when I got a picture of him hugging me. So awful.” You shook your head.

Stephanie growled angrily, “If you won’t do it, I’ll make it happen.”

You grew serious for a moment, fearing whatever scheme she would create, and gulped. “Don’t you dare.”

“Oh yeah.” She smirked, before turning to your boyfriend. “Hey, Archie, did you know that—“

“Actually, you know what? No. I’m not going through this. I’m not going to break up with him no matter what idiotic thing you try to threaten me with, or whatever childish, shallow stunt you try to pull. I’m not falling for it, and neither is he.” You dictated.

Archie nodded, now understanding what this was all about. “Yeah.”

“And, let’s face it, the only reason you want to date him anyway is because it would make you look good. The only reason you want to date him has nothing to do with him, or love, or even basic infatuation, and everything to do with materialistic objectification.” You smiled and spoke in a cheery tone, mimicking her peppy cheerleader voice as if you weren’t just ripping her to pieces, but your tone went dark when you finished. “So you know what? I take back what I said. Try to do something, I dare you.”

Stephanie didn’t say a word, only looked to you, to Archie, and then left. She knew that since you revealed her for who she really was to him just now— There wasn’t any way he would want date her even if by some ridiculous circumstance, the two of you did break up.

Archie didn’t say a word either, only put an arm around your shoulder, pulling you close to him, and kissing your temple long and hard before he had to go back to practice.

He felt comfort and pride in knowing you could take care of yourself. He let you go and ran back out to the field. You smiled, sat down, and continued reading.

Author’s Note: GAH! Sorry!! I forgot the read-more cut! Getting into the mindset of this reader was SO easy for me. The first time the husband told me he loved me, my response was ‘are you sure?’ Fortunately for me, my parents weren’t the ones who fucked me up. It was school.

“Good morning, beautiful.” Jim leaned across the commissary table and dropped a kiss on your cheek, prompting a blush and slight scowl. “What?”

“Did you miss the giant spot in the middle of my forehead?” You countered, arching your eyebrow. “Not exactly enticing this morning.” You didn’t often fall victim to premenstrual pimples anymore, but you’d wakened with a zit that felt like a volcano brewing on your forehead. There was no covering it or masking it, and there was no making it go away.

“I hadn’t noticed at all. I was looking at your eyes, Y/N,” he shrugged, his glance lifting to assess the situation on your forehead. You felt yourself flushing more. “It’s tiny. Certainly doesn’t affect how gorgeous you are.”

You stared at him, expressionless. He had to be kidding, but you hadn’t finished your first coffee, and were in no mood to start a squabble about whether or not he needed his eyes checked. Instead, you returned to your meal wordlessly.

MY ECCC MAGIC

Sorry for the late post. Lost my original post, so here is the do over of my thoughts and observations.

My first Con and honestly did not know what to expect. So glad I went and now can cross this off my bucket list. Almost did not make it as a 100’+ tree came down in my yard a few days before but I was determined and with a little luck, made it happen.

Much has already been said about the panel so I won’t rehash too much. The lines. OMG the lines. They were as terrible as everyone said, but in the end definitely worth it. A man next to me and all alone said he came for his wife who hated crowds. Ahhhh. He also came for the games at the con but still! I was impressed. The first pic shows the sea of people there. Unbelievable. It also shows my empty seat far right in the FIRST ROW!!! The second shows how close the first row was to the stage. Yeah I was star struck. Sam was very playful and his accent amazing, and the kilt twirl a er um…visual treat. Cait was all legs and more legs and beautiful skin. I found myself mesmerized by them and not even wanting to look at the large screens but to just watch them in person. Figured I could see the tape later but could never really look at them real time probably ever again. Unfortunately my iPhone pics are crap, but @sileas84 had some good pics. Many touching moments and then it was over too soon. I remember being surprised it was mainly made up of audience questions.

Then over to get my first photo which was with Sam. It was very disorganized, the lines were too long and it started to heat up with all the bodies. Fun talking in line with others and listening to the conversations of this diverse fandom. Yep some scary. Finally to the front of the line and a quick peek in the small mirror showed that the rain, the lines and now the heat had me looking my absolute best, but hey, it was only Sam! My first glimpse of him, he was wiping the sweat from his brow (hey I’ll throw that rag away for ya 😜). It was click, next, click thx you verra much and I was quite honestly a little speechless (so not me). He of course has a smile and a big hello for everyone. He was skinnier than I expected from his VF pic but honestly you just can’t imagine how handsome he is in person. Sucks the air right of out of ya. No lie. In my last 10 seconds with him, I thanked him for something and then remembered I had brought a gift. I tried to give it to him, but a handler whisked it and me away as I heard him say “for me?”. Smooth Perri. Not.

Then off to stand in line again for pic with both Sam and Cait. More conversations with new friends in line and lots of positive reinforcement that I am not nearly the most crazy fan out there. Seriously. My girlfriend was with me in all three pics, but in this next one, I did not get to say anything to Cait as I was next to Sam and she was next to Cait (ok yeah I told her where to stand). Again very rushed, but Sam makes a point to say to me “thank you for the gift”. I fell over that he remembered it was me and that he had not said thank you before I was pushed out for the next person. It was genuine and I was impressed. I looked to see if the gift was still there in that area (I had put it in a distinct blk/wh polka dot nylon bag) and not seeing it, I asked the handler who said it had already been taken upstairs. Not sure what that means exactly…

Back in more lines for last pic with Cait only. Feet are screaming at me by now. But heck, now I get to meet Cait! I have to tell you I was not prepared. Guys I was gobsmacked by the man that is Sam Heughan, but I was blown away by the devine human being that is Caitriona Balfe. She is charming, engaging, warm, friendly and immediately puts you at ease not to mention drop dead gorgeous. What a treat. Who could not love and admire her. In my 5 seconds with her I think I thanked her for a bunch of stuff that I hope made sense and then she said she liked my bag. That jogged my memory to tell her that I had left a gift for her in an identical blk/wh polka dot bag earlier with Sam and to look for the bag that matched her socks (she must like polka dots) and again I was sent on my way.

All in all the photo ops were worth the wait to meet SC up close but I was oh so glad my autograph session was the next day as I am sure my dogs would not have survived another 69-90 min line. All I could focus on was getting to my room and the bottle of wine we had the forethought to have waiting for us.

Then time to go meet the other ladies from Tumblr and swap stories and down a few margaritas. What a hoot! This by far was one of the highlights of the trip. To finally meet some of you was very special for me. Having only found your blogs about 10 months ago, I felt kind of like an outsider going in but your warm reception touched me greatly. You guys are the best and we can never underestimate what we have here. I hope we can meet again someday and can be joined by others that missed this current meeting. As Val offered her place in NY, Christine hers in Hawaii, I offer mine in the wine country of Sonoma CA for a future get together or anyone that is here for a visit. Muah my lovelies.

Next morning off to more lines to get my autographs. This time I notice a couple of chairs inside the room, so I ask if I could sit down there until my spot in line gets to the front, and to my shock they said yes! Of course, it was 12’ away from Sam and for 30-45 mins I had the absolute pleasure of watching Sam be gracious and charming with each and every one of his fans. What a treat that seat was! Then it was my turn and Cait was first up. I had a few moments to chat with her and to my surprise actually got tongue tied a bit. She was beyond gracious and then they moved me along to Sam. I remember his hair still looked wet… oh sorry. When I figured out how to make words come out of my mouth again, I asked if he would sign in a darker color than Cait did and would he also write my name and showed him how it was spelled. Of course his handler said “No names, signatures only”. Whatever. So I thanked him again for his portrayal of JAMMF and for his charity work and told him I was a first time peaker. Then he reached out to shake my hand in goodbye and said “thank you Perri”. What??? He just said my name. Yeah I heard him. Ok now I am dead. I literally floated out of there, forgetting my backpack on the chair and my girlfriend is laughing at my obvious fangirling. But I didn’t care. Nope. Nada. Not one iota because I got to meet and talk to Sam Heughan and Caitriona Balfe! Later that night, to my absolute delight I see that he did slip my name in there! Sometimes he just does what he wants. Ahhhh.

So that is my story. I am so glad I went and I have two big takeaways from this experience.
1. What we have here with each other is special and if we ever get the opportunity to meet with one another, we gotta make it happen. I will treasure always my time with you ladies. I love you 😘
2. I now feel differently about Sam and Cait. Before they were the wonderful stars of my favorite TV program. But now, now they are very special human beings to me and I feel very protective of them. It is hard to explain. Much more than just stars of the program who do wonderful charity work. Now they are multidimensional x 1000 and so deserving of respect and space to live their lives. Interestingly, I do not even feel I need anything further from them. I don’t need to now where they are or what they are doing. Meeting them and talking with them albeit briefly, changed my perspective somewhat. I know what I saw and I know what I felt. I am of course interested if they want to share, but most of all I want to give them their space and hope that all their dreams and aspirations come true. We always comment that all of their friends have nothing but good things to say about them and know I know why. Because they really are all that and more.

PS. If I ever figure out if they actually received the gift I’ll let you know because I said it was from all of us. 😘

Lost in a book

Summary: one day during filming you go missing, much to everyones displeasure. you were off in your own world, until Jensen finds you, and you know that they wont let this go easy and most likely this story will get told over and over at cons.

Everyone has their escape, escape from the real world. Yours was reading, ever since you were little you had been a huge book nerd. Any book you could get your hands on you read. Being on a very popular tv

show since you were little and now being in your teens you didn’t get a lot of time to read, so you read whenever you could. In between takes, when you weren’t in a scene, during lunch break, on the way to cons, even during cons, wherever you were at you could be found with a book in your hands sometimes even two. It would freak out your cast mates whenever you would start a very large book and the next day have a completely new book because you finished your other one. You had a massive book shelf in your trailer and most of the money you made went to buying books. Yeah you were a huge book nerd, only problem, no one on set was as big of a book nerd as you. Reading was your favorite thing to do, and being on set all day with people who didn’t understand your love for books like you did could get annoying. Jared and Jensen would like to steel your books from you, and hide them in tall places where you couldn’t reach. It annoyed you to no end.

Jared and Jensen and Misha were all filming a scene right now, and where were you. Hiding in a random room so you could get some quite and finish your book. You had gotten the book yesterday and had started it earlier this morning, you were hooked you couldn’t put it down. But of course people wanted to keep interrupting you, asking you what you were reading couldn’t they see you were reading. You knew you had a scene to film later on in the afternoon, but with Jensen, Jared and Misha altogether it could be a while before they get to your scene. You had your earbuds in listening to the la la land soundtrack, and were immersed in the wonderful world of your book. Little did you know everyone was freaking out looking for you.

“How does no one notice where y/n went. She is one of the main actors on this show. There is no way that they could have gone missing, they should know they have a scene this afternoon.” The director yelled at everyone as everyone was running around set trying to find you. “someone better find them before I loose it, or they get themselves in trouble.”

“Calm down Bob we will find them they couldn’t have gone far. You know y/n they’re probably reading and lost track of time.” Jensen was trying his best to calm down the director.

“You better hope so because if anything happens to that kid their parents will kill all of us.”

Jensen knew he was right if anything happened to you your family would kill them. So Jensen decided to go looking for you, he had known you since you were a toddler if anyone was going to find you it would be him. You played his daughter on the show but he looked at you like his own to, wherever they went Jensen would always promise to your parents he would take good care of you. Jensen walked through different sets looking for a quite room, that’s where he knew he would find you. Jensen stopped he knew just the room you would be in why didn’t he think of it before.

You were just getting to the ending when you felt your earbuds being pulled out. “Hey!” You yelled looking up to see Jensen. Jensen just laughed, “do you know what time it is?” He asked. “No.” You looked at your phone. Holy crap! Three in the afternoon you were supposed to be on set for your scene two hours ago. “Do you know how long we have been looking for you were supposed to be on set at least two hours ago, and everyone has been wondering where you have been and your in Deans room in the bunker reading a book.” You knew he wasn’t mad at you because he was smiling. “ I know, I know time just got away from me I’m sorry.” You got up from the bed putting your bookmark in your book. “you better get back to set soon Bob is going nuts trying to find you.” Crap you were in for so much trouble with Bob. You left to go walk back to set. “hey y/n I hope you realize that I wont forget this.”

Jensen yelled laughing as you walked away. You know that the next con you went to most likely this story would get told.

About Cosplay

Real quick, before I go completely MIA, I want to share something you probably would’ve have known if you haven’t seen my DA, that being my first full cosplay, of Sans. I had forgotten to post about it when I started uploading my Undertale art, so I guess now’s as good a time as any. So, if you have the time, I want to tell you about and show you the process.

First off, I live near the Phoenix area in Arizona, so I’ve been to Saboten Con (when it was still around) and twice to Phoenix ComiCon. First time was probably two or three years ago. Back then it wasn’t nearly as expanded as it is now. Last time I went, I was barely in costume, if at all, but I had wanted to create a full cosplay. At first I wanted to be a Pokemon trainer, but it fell by the wayside. After some time, I took on the endeavor of creating a Sans cosplay.

I started this cosplay in December of last year. This was the first iteration of the foam mask, back when I hadn’t quite gotten the hang of my drawing style for Sans. Looking back, it’s pretty fugly to me, but ya know, it was very early in, before I had gotten a grasp on what I was doing.

I had actually struggled to make the base underneath the face. It took looking up a fursuit tutorial on YouTube for me to realize, “Oh! That’s how you do it!” The black cloth in the sockets here was temporary while I worked on them. The teeth also got majorly redone later on.

And here’s my cat Milo chillin’ out on the scraps. Just thought I’d throw that in too.

Here, I had realized that he needed a bit of a subtle brow ridge that most skeletons have. Plus, while the temporary cloth was out, seeing it placed perfectly over my tablet’s blue light, I had to take a picture.

I was also figuring out the temples and realized they were a bit anatomically incorrect. The mouth was going through a redesign as well. Meaning I had to cut out the teeth that were already there and start over.

Then, the new semester started and I was feeling pretty demotivated to work on it. I did work a bit on it here and there, but it mostly sat in one corner of my desk, unfinished. After the passing of my grandma, I almost couldn’t bring myself to work on it. It sat unfinished even longer. But once the semester started coming to a close and I heard Phoenix ComiCon was coming up, I had the urge to pick it up again. After a metric ton of cutting, trimming, gluing, and trimming again, this was the result:

At this point, I was getting more and more excited about actually seeing it finished. I constantly reminded myself of how proud my grandma would be of me, since I was able to show her the earlier stages before her passing. I’m still sad I’ll never get to show her the completed piece, but I hammer it into myself that she would be immensely happy for me. Anyway, the jacket shown here, turned out to be a darker shade of blue than what I was going for. When I searched up Sans’s in-game sprite, it turned out I needed a lighter shade of blue, so I ordered one off of Amazon after seeing a blog page linking to ideal pieces for a Sans cosplay. I kept the original jacket, since it does get cold in Arizona during the brief winter season.

After this stage, I did a bunch of running around, much to my parents’ expense since I can’t drive, finding a bunch of other materials, such as polyester padding, a white medium shirt to put over the padding, black and white fabric for the pants, tights and polyester cloth for the leggings, black opera-length gloves, white and black fabric paint, polyester clay, grey fleece for the jacket hoodie, a pair of fresh socks that stretch above the ankles, a pair of perfectly pink fuzzy slippers from Sears, wood filler, sandpaper, LED lights, batteries for said lights… Whoo! Okay, yeah. Bottom line, I got a crap ton of stuff.

For the padding, I sewed a pair of old shirts together, one inside the other, and stuffed the padding in between, around my whole middle, and in the shoulders, to give Sans his shallow, stout look. That all took me under a few hours to figure out and put together. After that, I believe, I made the shorts using a pair of existing shorts as a template. They were a bit saggy in the crotch area, but they worked nicely, especially when fitting them over the padding. I also did the hand bones, using the gloves, fabric paint, and polymer clay bones, which I hot glued onto the top of the gloves. Wearing them was also a bit weird. I couldn’t close my fist all the way, but they worked all right.

Not pictured here was the fabric paint on the palm side. Unfortunately, I had to constantly reinforce the glue to keep the bones from popping off. Polymer, as I realized too late, doesn’t like sticking to glue very much, especially with hands that need to be used. Very unfortunately, my fears came true and two of the finger bones popped off during a panel I went to. Lesson learned. This is one baby I have to kill. I’ll go back and completely redo the hands in a different way. They may not be entirely anatomically accurate, but they’ll function. At least the old ones, which I’ve thrown into the garbage, looked cool. They had a nice dimension and were fun to look at.

So, after that, I covered the mask in paper mache (which I forgot to take a picture of. Sorry.) and started laying on the wood filler for the mask.

The wood filler was pretty nice to work with, as it allowed for additional sculpting I couldn’t do with the foam. At this point, Con was coming up fast and I was running out of time. I needed to start sanding. Much to my frustration, it was taking forever. I had left many spots unsanded where the filler didn’t quite stick. It was especially noticeable when I started laying on the gesso. Mom was trying to help me realize that the cosplay may not be complete in time and that I should take more time to work on it and just not go in costume. I hated admitting even to myself that she had a point. I refused to believe I couldn’t do it. I wanted to feel like I had accomplished something by finishing this sucker in time for Con. I was already frustrated at the shoddy work and I stormed into my room (I had been working for hours on end in hot weather just outside the house, doing nothing but sanding and laying on gesso).

I had the biggest fit of my life. Tears streamed down my face. I cried and moaned and even screamed. I pounded my bed like an enraged monkey. All these revelations were going through my head during my fit. Then I thought, why not fill the patchy spots with more wood filler, even over the gesso? I had clearly skimped on it anyway. Once my fit was over, I went right back to work with my idea. It worked. After all the patches were filled, I went back to sanding. I filled where I needed to and sanded again until it was all smooth. I accepted that I wouldn’t get it done before Con started and that I’d miss the Undertale meetup, which, yeah, I did miss it.

I spent the next day at Con, taking pictures, marveling at the more impressive costumes and squeed anytime I saw a fellow Undertale cosplayer. I even came across two young ladies dressed as gender-bent Sans and Papyrus. The Papyrus cosplayer was awesome enough to do the voice when I asked if I could take their picture. That, by the way, is something I appreciate with cosplayers, when they not only dress up as a fun character but play the role as well. It really enriches the experience for me.

Later I went to the exhibition hall and stood in line to see renonwed comic artist George Perez. Needless to say, standing in line wasn’t very fun, but I had brought a few prints of my work with me and was determined to have him evaluate it. Seeing him draw and interacting with the fans was definitely a treat. He had such an energy about him that was very infectious. He had a clear love for his work and his fans that he is capable of staying at his booth for hours on end and very rarely take a break. Eventually, I and my sister, who was also there to get her portfolio evaluated, approached him. Sadly, because of how many people were in line to see him, he couldn’t evaluate our portfolios, but he was very nice about it and directed us to another great comic artist named Tony Parker, who I hadn’t heard of until then. He gave me some very good pointers about pushing a character’s pose and about visual flow when it came to comics. Some of what he had to say I had already sort of known, but it was more than valuable hearing his professional opinion. By that time, my feet were screaming at me and we went home.

Over the next couple days, I went back to finishing my cosplay. I worked on the leggings by cutting out some leg bone shapes out of polyester fabric and hand sewed them straight onto the tights as I wore them. Yes, I did poke myself a number of times. I also had to bend over pretty far to reach around my shins and down to my ankles. On top of that, I had gotten back to sanding the mask and spent the rest of the day laying on several coats of gesso. While waiting for the gesso to dry, I went out and bought the slippers I needed. Once the leggings were done, I finished the gesso and painted the inside of the eyesockets black to minimize light reflection. I then painted the little wrinkles under the eyes and the teeth details. After that, I hot glued the once temporary black fabric into the inner edges of the eyesockets and the nose hole. The LEDs I left for absolute last. These were crucial to the entire look. I mean, obviously. Unfortunately, I didn’t have time or the technical know-how for a complex wiring hook-up, so I stuck the LEDs onto two button batteries with black electric tape and then placed them behind the eyesocket fabric using more tape. I also taped tissue paper around the lights to cut down the ultra brightness. And because I have no switch to turn the lights off, the LEDs had to stay lit up. But they functioned and they actually looked pretty frightening, especially in the dark.

Once I’m able to, I’ll go out and get the parts I need to create a proper and better hook-up. I stayed up until after 2am just to see the eyes finished and I still was able to get up early the next day.

And this is what came from it all:

That’s me on the far left along with a bunch of lovely Charas and Frisks. This was the only picture I was able to get of my full costume that day, so I apologize for the cut at the bottom. I assure you I am wearing the slippers here, and they are comfy as hell. The mouth made it a bit hard for people to hear me and some cracks did appear around the edges, but the mask held up very nicely overall. I could not tell you how many people stopped me for a picture. Seeing their faces light up when they saw me made it all worth it. I want to do this again sometime soon, once I’ve made some improvements, and hopefully make it to the next meetup at whatever con may be coming up next in the future. What a journey this was. What an amazing experience! 10/10 Would cosplay again.
