they never do any of their own work

anonymous asked:

I've never owned a dog before but I plan to when I move out. I'd very much like a Shiba inu, but I know they're very energetic and independent dogs. But I'm hoping to have a house with a large, fenced in backyard so it could run around and get it's energy out. Do you have any suggestions as for how else to prepare myself?

Shibas are generally not considered to be good first time dogs but if you’re dedicated you can definitely make it work.  Some general advice:

- Read various first time dog owning guides.  there’s lots of these online.  This will give you a good idea of basics like frequency + amount of food, grooming, vaccinations + vet care, socialization, and training.
- Talk to shiba owners and breeders.  See what they have to say that differs from owning other types of dog.
- Enroll your dog in obedience classes.  Some of these are better than others so shop around to see what works best for you.  Watching training videos online also works but for someone 100% new to dog training having another person helps.
- Participate in dog socialization meet-ups.  Your dog makes friends and gets some exercise too.  Wait until your dog has all its puppy shots first though.
- Dogs, especially puppies, definitely have the potential to get into things and tear your house up.  Be prepared to spend a lot of time running/walking/playing with a young dog.  Makes sure to put anything you don’t want torn up or eaten out of reach.
- Get ready for hefty vet bills.  Dog vet trips easily run over $500.  Pet health insurance does exist but how good it is varies a lot.  Something to consider reading up on.

Ultimately, be patient and get ready to spend lots of time with your new pet!

Hi do you have any advice for astral projecting, I'm a bit nervous to do it bc I have spirits around me and I don't know if they're bad or not. I've always sensed an energy since I was a kid, and I was able to see shadows and figures when I was a kid but I can't see them anymore but I can feel them. Lights always flicker when I'm under them and that's also happened since I was little, idk if that's my own energy or the spirits, I do talk AT them and they don't seem malicious but you never know?

I would advise you to not ask me tbh - I don’t work with either astral or spirits. All I could do is direct you to posts that contain info on both of those topics, but I couldn’t give you any personal recommendations myself, since I lack the proper experience.

I’d suggest taking to @spiritvexer, @urbanspellcraft, or @draconicastralguardian.

Sometimes the customer is wrong for unrelated reasons.

Due to the well of my friends’ “def not an axe murderer” date recommendations drying up, I have turned to that most sacred of modern relationship institutions: online dating. As a very busy person trying to get it in with other very busy people, I prize honestly and directness above all else when it comes to profile creation. I include full body shots in my photos, try to minimize the use of MySpace angles in selfies, and write at the very top of the summary/caption/profile that I am fat. Not “curvy,” not “thick,” not “lots to love”–I’m f*cking fat. I’m not ashamed of it, but I also known that weight is a dealbreaker for lots of people. I don’t want to waste anyone’s time.

About a year ago I met “Evan” via Tinder. We exchanged friendly messages for a few hours one night and agreed to meet up for drinks the following evening. I waited for a full hour past the designated time, and just as I was getting up to leave, the texts started rolling in.

“I can see you sweating from here.” “How long does it take you to roll out of bed every morning?” “Is there an earthquake or are you just getting up for more pretzels?”

Really idiotic, juvenile shit. Four separate numbers, commenting on things like my clothes, which clued me in that the senders were nearby. This went on for 15 minutes before I finally saw Evan, trying to hide in at a corner table and giggling with a group of buddies. I made eye contact, saw that he saw me, and then walked out. The texts kept up until I blocked the numbers a few hours later.

I ran into Evan about 3 weeks later. We got on the same elevator, and he tried really hard at being super interested in the emergency phone instructions. I just confronted him, and he admitted it was just some “game” that him and his friends play. He knew I was fat before agreeing to meet up; they all did, because that’s what they do. Match up with fat women, then either ghost them or “troll” them at the meet-up. It was also kinda obvious he’d never seen any consequences from this bullshit, as he was sweating pretty hard and looked more humiliated than I felt. I just said whatever and walked out, expecting to never see him again.

About a month ago, some local foodie wrote a great review of the restaurant I own, and we’ve been slammed ever since. In the past, I stayed mostly in the kitchen, but I’ve been doing more and more front-of-house stuff lately, and Valentine’s Day I was working a bit of a split between the two.

I saw Evan just as he was pushing in his date’s chair. My name isn’t on the restaurant, and he didn’t see me. I checked the section up at the hostess stand and saw that one of my favorite old-timers, Nan, was going to be his waitress. I went to the bar till, took out $400, put it in her hands, and said, “This is going to be your only table for the rest of the night. You are going to make this the worst date he has ever been on.”

She spilled every single thing she brought out to the table, all over him. I was waiting for him to blow up on Nan, but he bottled it up, obviously trying to make a good impression on his date. She seemed like a perfectly lovely lady; I told Nan to make sure everything was good for her and terrible for Evan.

She poured ice water on his d*ck. She smacked the back of his head with the edge of a tray. Spilled soup on his shirt. Dropped every fork he asked for. I personally oversalted his food, used the shit liquor for his drinks, used flour instead of sugar on his dessert. To be honest, I don’t know why he didn’t just walk out. He must have really wanted to f*ck this woman.

Finally, he cracked. Demanded Nan find the manager and bring her out. I was only too happy to emerge from the kitchen with my chef’s coat and say what, I’m not ashamed to admit, I’d been planning out all night.

“I would have said hi earlier, but I didn’t want the earthquake to disturb your dinner.”

I will savor the look on Evan’s face for the rest of my life.

He was a little too flummoxed to explain, so I pulled a chair up to the table and introduced myself to his date, Amanda. Told her how I met Evan. Showed her some fun old messages. Then I told gave her a voucher for a free meal on her next visit and told Evan to get the f*ck out and never come back.

He deleted his Tinder profile.

Energy Based Witchcraft and Quick Practices

All right, so this is essentially the beginning of energy related witchcraft that I’ll be posting about as I try it and learn new things. Feel free to try out some of the stuff I talk about here but please remember that this is your journey and you can and should edit and tweak everything to best fit you.

Types of Energy

Reserved Energy

Reserved Energy floats either just above or below your skin. It should feel like it’s attached to you and resist most attempts to use it. It is minimally pliant, minimally workable, and mostly just exists as a backup or protection.

Latent Energy

Latent Energy is typically a ball of energy that is extremely malleable and easily visualized. This type of energy is more ‘for your use’. It can be visualized anywhere in the body; however, where ever it best seems to fit (i.e. a ball of energy in your stomach, chest, head, etc) is normally where it stays. Latent energy is great to work with to give yourself a better mastery over molding both Reserved and Latent energy.

Neighboring/Immediate Energy

Neighboring (or Immediate) Energy is an amalgamation of your energies and outside forces. It’s best visualized and felt by meditating. If you’ve meditated and felt like you were basically out of your own body and hazy, you’ve felt Neighboring Energy. It’s less you and, as a by product, significantly harder to work with. It’s not as difficult as Reserved Energy since that’s an active rejection to change, and this is simply difficult because you’re reaching beyond yourself.

Visualizing Your Energy

Visualizing energy can be a bit tricky, but seeing your energy, in my opinion, is equally important as feeling it. Being able to see and acknowledge your energy makes feeling and moving it so much simpler. There are a couple of ways to visualize your energy, so we’ll hop into those first:

First Plane Visualization (FPV)

If you close your eyes to visualize your energy and the first thing you see is your body, this is where you’re at. First Plane Visualization essentially means your energy best manifests itself to you as a physical part of you. Personally, I feel this makes it easier to work with Latent and Reserved Energy, but harder to work with Neighboring.

Second Plane Visualization (SPV)

If attempting to visualize your energy brings up empty space with your energy in some form or shape in it, congrats, this is you. This type of visualization makes it significantly easier to work with energy that isn’t yours but more difficult to work with your own as well. Your energy seems to best manifest itself as a construct in your mind, essentially on a different plane than your physical body. To use it, you have to get around your own barrier between it and physicality whereas outside energies that are already on your plane don’t need any extra work for you to work with them.

When you visualize your energy, you’re essentially introducing yourself and greeting it. In the same way you most likely wouldn’t hand a stranger a thousand dollars, your energy isn’t likely to do much for you if you don’t at least know it.

Moving Your Energy

Think of your energy as a muscle, if you never use it, it becomes that much more difficult to begin using and to strengthen it.  Please don’t expect to hop in, visualize your energy once, and suddenly have it do everything you want it to.

First try visualizing your energy with your eyes closed. Spend some time with it, don’t demand anything of it. Is your energy naturally calm? Does it spin lazily as you sit with it? Is your energy a spitfire, constantly flinging out strands of itself and wrapping around everything it can without leaving it’s basic shape? Who is your energy? What kind of personality do you get from it?

Try to learn and love your energy every time you visualize it. When you’ve got the image of your energy firmly in your head, preferably to the point where you can almost feel  it wherever it’s best visualized, try moving it. Try to get a strand of it to detach from the bulk of your energy and pull it towards you. If that’s difficult, simply work on moving the bulk of your energy towards and away from you (SPV) or around your body (FPV). This should honestly take awhile. Remember that you’re not simply trying to visualize it, but feel it. As it moves, you should feel it. Once you’ve got a mastery of that, try opening your eyes and doing it over again.

When you can move your energy in bulk or pieces with a bit more ease, I recommend pushing it to the surface. The easiest place to feel Latent Energy is between your palms. If trying to move your energy with in yourself simply won’t work for you, try this instead, then move back to that later. To push your energy to your hands for FPV, imagine it wherever it tends to manifest itself. Push it, either in whole or (preferably) in part, down or up your body and into your palms. If you need your eyes closed to direct it, by all means, close them; however, once you’ve got it comfortably in your palms, open your eyes and try to get used to keeping a hold on your energy with your eyes open. Allow it to do as it pleases within the space between your palms. Start out with maybe half a foot between your hands and slowly increase the distance as you grow more confident.

For SPV, visualize your energy and bring it towards you. Bring out either two bits of it, still connected to the whole, or the bulk of it towards yourself until it feels like you’ve stepped inside of it or as though it’s encompassed you. Carefully, without losing that feeling, visualize it (either with your eyes opened or closed depending on what works better for you) sparking its way down your arms and into your hands. If that’s too far to visualize, simply imagine it condensing between or in your palms for the get-go. Because your own image is less involved in your own energy, expect to have a harder time keeping it where you want it to be.

Energy, like most objects, rejects movement without force. When you move it at first, it may feel like it snaps back to where it started no matter what you do. Keep practicing and remember that it hasn’t really moved in years, so it’ll take some work to get it to move now.

Energy Exercises

We’re finally at the end of what I can share for the time being. I only have a couple of practices that I’ve been using lately, only one of which I’ll add here, specifically for Reserved Energy because that’s what I’m practicing working with currently. I will update this as time goes on but I do want to be sure before I give put any exercises. For example, one of them uses hunger as a basis and I don’t know how I feel about giving a purpose to staying hungry, so I’ll wait to add that if at all.

Exercise 1

Find a cold room or area, cold enough to give you goosebumps but not enough to shiver. Furthermore, if it’s outdoors, make sure there’s little to no wind. Wear short or no sleeves. Allow the cold to seep into your skin. Visualize your reserved energy; this may be a thin layer above or below your skin.

If it appears above your skin, give it intent, push it to separate you from the cold. In practice, this literally felt like a wash of lukewarm warmth sliding down from my head. The cold felt like someone holding an ice cube near my skin, but didn’t actually make me cold.

If it appears below your skin, incite it to heat itself. The cold should sink into your skin and meet that barrier of energy and fizzle out. I can’t tell you how it feels in practice because my Reserved Energy appears above the skin. If you try this out and are okay to share, I’d love to know how it differs.

Updates

I’ll either update or make new posts on this as I learn. I love energy based craft and I’ve got a lot more things I’m practicing that I’m not confident enough in quite yet to share…but soon. Here’s a mini-list of what you can expect in the future:

Moving Energy Into Objects

Visualizing Neighboring Energy

Using Neighboring Energy

Taking Energy from an Object

NOTE: All of the names I’ve given energy, energy types, etc were made by me simply to make it easier to refer to and talk about. If you call any of the feelings or activities something else, by all means, continue doing so. This is just what makes it easiest to understand for me.

A Long List of Ways to Spiritually Protect Yourself

(Updated from this old list here.)

Shielding is a practice entirely built on your intention–if you want an eternal shield, you can have it. If you believe in your shield, it will be there. There are many ways that are incredibly powerful with just the slightest trust and a little bit of practice. As soon as possible, start to practice shielding and methods of spiritual protection, since practice, along with your intention, will create the most powerful shields.

Also, you can never shield to much. It’s amazing and very empowering to have layer upon layer of shielding, and the energy and time you put into shielding will really save you a lot of energy and time in the future. Even just walking around, through crowds, cities, etc, drains your energy–negative energy is everywhere, and consciously seeking only the energy for your best and highest good will really, truly, and completely empower you.

You can shield from anything and everything, just make sure to allow in things for your “best and highest interest/good.” ShCast every shield with this affirmation. This allows what people would consider “negative” emotions to still come through, so you can live a balanced life, since not all emotions that are considered negative actually are. This affirmation effectively only allows things that raise or balance your vibration, and help you to spiritually evolve. It won’t cut you off from anything necessary. Shields themselves will never overwhelm or smother you, since they are meant solely for your needs and will always let in positive energy. Here are some simple methods to begin shielding, but you can always adopt them with your own needs and intentions! Do what works for you, just make sure to shield when practicing spirit or energy work of any sort.

Robe of White Light:

  • Focus for a moment on calming yourself, and once you have a clear mind, imagine a nice fluffy robe around you (I always imagine one like in the game Journey) made of white and protective light. This is the universe’s energy, and nothing ill can penetrate it once it is surrounding you.
  • It is recommended to repeat once or twice a day to maintain the shielding.
  • You can also use the affirmation of “I call upon a robe of loving and protective white light, knowing that it will protect me from all energy not in my highest interest. This robe protects me with the power of the Universe/Source/God.”

Guardian Protection:

  • Ask your guardian spirits (either aloud or through your mind) to protect you.
  • Always command that the guardians who help that they “come in light.” And if not, say they must leave. You don’t even have to know their name, but if they aren’t here to help, then they shouldn’t be around you. So just command this and all with ill intentions will be forced to leave.
  • Call on them for a need by need basis.

Auric Hardening:

  • Imagine your aura (trust whatever color you see in your mind’s eye), and then imagine it hardening, like it’s calcifying around you. It can get as hard as a rock, or like armor.
  • This can sometimes push away any energy exchanges, so you could feel more distant from positive interactions too. So, it’s best used when a threat is around
  • Usually lasts between 4 hours-2 days, depending on the strength of your intention.

Sigil warding:

  • Draw with a pen, marker, or with the tip of your finger (if you don’t need visible lines) a sigil with the intention of protecting yourself. A sigil is most basically an energetic line (or series of them) with an intention. The lines hold the energy and magnify the intention.
  • Here are examples
  • A post on sigil crafting

Shielding with Intention and the Universe:

  • Calm yourself with a short breathing meditation, then focus on what you intend to shield-yourself, another, or a place.
  • Imagine casting a ball of light towards the designated target, with the intention of allowing the Universe/Source to channel through you and shield whatever you intend to.
  • Just watch and observe as the shield is built, knowing that it is fully fueled by the energy of the Universe and will stay there, and stay strong, until the shield is released consciously by you.
  • You can specify this shield for certain purposes, like to only keep a spirit out, or to keep all negative spirits out.

Reiki Shielding and Protection:

  • In Usui Reiki, there is a technique your Reiki Masters should have taught you about warding and cleansing the room in white light. Channel Reiki energy to do this.
  • If you are attuned to Reiki II, you should know the 1st symbol and that it can be used to stop all energy that is not in your highest good from coming towards you, working as an effective shield when the symbol is called on.
  • You need to be properly attuned to Reiki for this.

Bubble shielding:

  • Similar to the white light or shielding with intention, but focusing on making and empowering a bubble around you.
  • Replenish this as often as possible, since this is dependent on your own care.
  • Can be in an oval or a sphere shape. If this is hard to get a hang of, then try just fitting it a couple inches away from your body, similar to auric hardening.

Waterfall shielding:

  • A bubble shield with the intention of existing on top of an underneath bubble shield.
  • Focus on this shield and set the intention of having it move around like a waterfall. This way, someone sending negative energy has a very small chance of hitting the same place twice.

Elemental shielding:

All of these are built with a specific intention and visualization of the shield. Time around such element used will strengthen the shield, or a conscious meditation to draw the energy towards you and the shield.

  • Fire shield: Envision burning fire, that will destroy all negative energy/energy not for your highest good, when it tries to enter your energetic space.
  • Water shield: Similar to the waterfall shield, but with the visual of actual water flowing that can wash away all negative debris or toxicity clinging to any form of bubble shield underneath it.
  • Earth shielding: This one can block off positive energy too, since it works more like a layer of earth around the person. Though, it can also be envisioned to only grow/manifest around you in times of need or when you’re being attacked or faced with negative energy. It can also block your third eye from seeing outside. Earth shielding can also work as a means of grounding you, which doesn’t have negative effects (as long as you don’t neglect your upper chakras). If you ground yourself to the earth, and your are harmed or shaken by negative energy, you can replenish your energy from the earth.
  • Air shielding: Envision a fast current of air around you that sweeps away all negative energy or malevolent beings.
  • Light shielding: A bright white light that totally purifies all energy that contacts it, similar to the robe of white light. Different colored lights can work too, but they all have specific purposes that you should research first.
  • Ether shielding: Sometimes this works like a portal, transporting all malevolent energy to another place in the universe. Just make sure to set the intention that things in your best and highest interest aren’t affected, and that the travel won’t severely harm anyone who is transported by the portal (since sometimes negative energy can come from just someone in a bad mood).
  • Chaos shielding: Not always considered an element, but with the idea of scattering any negative energy–the sudden increase in entropy raises the vibration to something more positive.
  • Shadow and smoke shielding: Imagining either element around you, mostly for cloaking and making your energy less obvious. This is great for astral projection and spiritual travel when you don’t want to be noticed. You can infuse the energy with an intention of how you want to be perceived, like if a threat comes, then you can suddenly raise this shield and make the smoke cause you to seem dangerous, scaring off the opponent.

Halo shielding:

  • Imagine a series of halos that spin quickly around you, moving to knock away negative energy if it approaches your space. This can be inside or outside of a bubble or light based shield.

Protection charms and enchanted objects:

  • Work made by you, when you have a lot of experience, in creating a sigil charm or enchanted object meant for protection. This can also be from someone who has passed down a family protection amulet (just research it and bathe it in light to clear any possible negative energy on it), or from an experienced energy worker making protection amulets, charms, or objects.
  • Some are religiously charged, like crosses, pentagrams, etc. If this matches your belief, your belief will empower it.
House Rules
  • No spirit may act to harm or unsettle myself, my family members, my pets, or my guests.
  • No spirit may play pranks or tricks on anyone in my home, including myself.
  • No spirits may feed off of me ever/without my permission/unless it is an emergency.
  • All spirits must remain open to me regarding their needs, wants, and desires. I will do my best to facilitate these things.
  • You may not exploit loopholes in my rules.
  • If you discover any loopholes in my rules, bring them to my attention so they may be corrected.
  • No spirit is allowed to interfere with my magic workings, unless it is to protect myself or another member of my household, including my spirit household.
  • A spirit must tell me if they interfere with my magic for the good of my household.
  • No spirits of a sexual nature may have any sexual contact with any member of my household, including me, unless it is specifically requested.
  • No spirit may pretend to be something/someone they are not. Remain true to your real identity.

  • No spirits may invite other unknown spirits in to my home.
  • I will never act in any way to harm or hurt one of the spirits living in my home.
  • I will always give spirits a chance to leave of their own free will before I consider banishment.
  • I will never ignore the pressing needs of a spirit.
  • I will always make time for each individual spirit in my home at least twice a week.
  • I will never prevent a spirit from carrying out their individual lives and taking care of their own concerns.
  • I recognize a spirit’s needs in their personal life are above my needs for their companionship.
  • I will never force a spirit to do something they are uninterested in doing.
  • I will always allow any spirit in my home to leave of their own free will, whenever they desire.
  • I will respect my spirit’s preferences and wishes.

This is a list of house rules I have *so far* for the spirit keeper handbook project I am working on. These rules are meant to inspire so you can think of your own house rules! More will come on how to set up house rules and what to do if a spirit doesn’t want to follow your rules.

almost a year ago i moved back “home” to the place i grew up in. last summer i lost everything, or so i thought. i lost my home, i lost love, school, a job i loved, and people who had felt more like family to me than anyone else ever had. i was on my own. i was alone. last year i was at the lowest point in my life and in 33 days it will mark a year since the day i tried to take my own life. i thought i had nothing left. i thought there was nothing left for me. mental illness was literally ruling my life. in this past year i have struggle more than i ever had in my life, but i have learned so much about life and love. i have gained so much self confidence, self love, and appreciation for everything that i am. i have struggled, i have pulled myself up from rock bottom. little did i know that in a years time, i would be on one of the most influential teams of my life, i would have a 3.8 GPA in college and i would be receiving an offer from a school to play soccer with nearly $30k in scholarships. i would start speaking out about mental illness, and how it changed my life. i would travel, adventure, laugh, and love more than i ever had. i would become a completely new version of myself. and i would do it all on my own. i thought i lost everything. but i gained so fucking much in the process. it just goes to show you that had i taken my own life a year ago, i wouldn’t have any of this. life isnt always easy, living with a mental illness is HARD, but it is possible. may is mental health awareness month and i decided this year that i will never stop speaking out about the troubles and triumphs of mental illness. because if you’re not making someone uncomfortable you’re not doing something right. so heres to still being here. heres to everything i thought i would never have. heres to smiling and working to end the stigma around mental illness along the way.

**A Former Journalist’s Perspective on the Above:

Ok guys, let’s stop for a second and break this down–

Things Rian has said:

–There will not be a Han-Leia TYPE romance.
–I.e. this will not be a frustrating, unrequited love type thing.
–This TYPE of relationship dynamic will not be a centerpiece.

Things the VF writer assumed from Rian’s statement:

–That this somehow means there will be no romance at all.
–They assumed that just because the romance wouldn’t be the unrequited type that that somehow means no other kinds of romance at all. That is NOT what Rian said.

I used to work as a journalist for a massive international news network, and let me tell you- the number one mistake we were NEVER allowed to make was *assume* something from a statement- ‘assumptions’ being the hallmark of American journalism.

If I were responsible for writing or researching this story for my past job, I’d have had to get a direct quote saying “there is *no* romance in 8″. Hands down, if I did not have that direct quote, I would NEVER have been allowed to make such a statement. But not only is that quote NOT here, but the writer makes the egregious mistake of *assuming* that one type not being there is equivalent to NONE being there.

This, my friends, is most likely going to backfire. A bit like how JJ let slip that Rey’s parents weren’t in 7 and then badly tried to backpedal in a later statement.

Basically I think Rian will come back and personally amend the article’s assumption, either through twitter or in another interview. Because going by his quote, this is literally ALL you can *actually* take from it:

Things that Rian ACTUALLY said according to his statement, without the writer’s assumptions tacked on:

–The TYPE of romance Han and Leia had, i.e. grump vs. lovable cad, is not a type we’ll see here.
–That type of romance seen in the OT will not be a “centerpiece” to this trilogy”

Things Rian did NOT say according to his statement:

–There will be no romance (he did not say this!! He only specified a certain type!)
–That there will be no Rey-Kylo romance. (he did NOT say this! Again, he only specified a certain type! Not a pairing)
–That there will be no Finn-Poe romance. (again, he didn’t say this! Stormpilot wouldn’t even have the potential to fit into the angst dynamic Rian describes anyway)

Keep in mind the writer’s reporting bias!

The writer specifically pointed out ships by name. This is a person who has at least read a buzzfeed article about different types of SW ships, and yes, if you don’t think journalists read other peoples’ work for leads on their own stories, you’re dreaming- we do it constantly. If this person was out to debunk all ships, considering the writer works for ‘Vanity Fair’ and NOT a news outlet, he could swing Rian’s “not this TYPE of romance” statement in any direction he personally wanted to. And it seems he took it and turned it into an assumption of ‘no romance’ when Rian clearly never said that, is not quoted as saying that, only said that a certain TYPE of romance we’ve seen in the past wouldn’t be there.

Short FAQ:

Q: But wouldn’t LF/Disney have to approve the article before it’s published to make sure it’s accurate???
A: NO. This is not how journalism, even the type VF does, works. I’ve had people in the past ask me for advance copies of stories to ‘approve’ and we’ve always politely told them no and subtly that that was an absurd request. SW also has a VERY long-running relationship with VF, which would mean an even more hands-off approach anyway.

So Let’s Make Our Own More Educated, Objective Assumptions (since the fandom aren’t journalists and allowed to):

–Everyone is STILL outrightly dodging the topic of discussing the Kylo/Rey dynamic. This is significant. This is the type of bone you want to chase. Clearly nobody’s being allowed to. Remember who is depicted on the teaser poster!

–Since only a certain TYPE of romantic dynamic we’ve seen in the past won’t be happening, that leaves us with a whole slew of others. If unrequited love isn’t on the menu, then the opposite of that is REQUITED. If it won’t be “burning”, then it could be MEANINGFUL. All Rian’s done is scratched one potential item off the menu- it doesn’t meant the rest of the menu isn’t still there! When you look at most of our fanfiction anyway, is it really unrequited love? Or is it almost always an underlying understanding of “Oh god, this is happening- this is scary but it’s almost fatalistically inevitable!” We may not have been barking up the wrong tree here on how this will play out.

–When Carrie was asked at the 2016 Wizard World con in Chicago if any of the characters would be friends with Kylo (who she kept calling “her son”) the FIRST WORDS out of her mouth were “Well Rey is very forgiving…” but then after the slip (yes, slip!) she immediately tried to backpedal and say “He’s an asshole”. THAT, my friends is solid- Carrie was asked about friendship with Kylo, and the first person she names is Rey. No, she did not say directly that they would be friends- she CAN’T say something THAT specific. Saying something like that would be extremely specific. But the fact that she named ONE character in a POSITIVE vein with regards to Kylo is the closest she can legally get to saying “Rey and Kylo will have a working, friendly relationship at the minimum” without the Disney lawyers coming after her, which is why she amended with a negative statement by calling Kylo an “asshole”.

KEEP IN MIND: Production for the new SW films is slippery as fuck. They will wrap you up in semantics if they think they can make your brain redirect, and then when something actually DOES happen later, smile enigmatically, shrug their shoulders, and quote obi-wan by saying “Well by a certain point of view!”

So to recap on the highlights:

-DON’T let a writer’s possible anti-shipping bias influence you
-DON’T let poor assumptive journalism confuse you- again, making assumptions without the blatant facts to back them up are a classic hallmark of American journalism and international journalists are VERY keenly aware of this problem and have to work around it constantly
-DON’T take Rian’s statement about ONE TYPE of romance happening to mean *no* romance is happening because that is NOT what he said!

Personally, I’m not that concerned- I do not feel that reylo is impacted by this guy’s assumptions nor Rian’s statements because all he’s said is that OT-type unrequited love won’t be a main strain of the story. Well that leaves a bazillion other juicy possibilities. This writer has made some assumptions that *cast* members have already somewhat contradicted, and personally I’m more inclined to believe them than some dude writing for VF. I also do not condone supposedly reputable publications twisting around quotations from production and making *massive* assumptions, because what this guy has done is exactly that. It’s *massive* to sweep *ALL* romance off the board when Rian didn’t even say that!! This clear bias and disregard for what was actually said makes me question the validity of the rest of his articles. If I were still working in journalism looking for story leads, I’d take things this guy has said with a grain of salt and tread very carefully after reading a good word twisting like that. Those are the sorts of things that make reporting very unreliable.

I’m not sure how to end this, so I’ll just say that I hope this has helped, I hope this has also shed some light on how these things work and how they SHOULDN’T work, and frankly, KEEP SHIPPING, GUYS because I don’t think anything has been killed or debunked or anything like that. If anything I feel like if unrequited love isn’t happening, the requited love is that much more of a strong possibility and BOY should that make the ants quake in their boots with fear. >:3

BIGBANG and GOT7 won “Best Worldwide Act” at the MTV EMAs and Super Junior and EXO where nominated for the same award before. BIGBANG were nominated for a Kids Choice Award. Now BTS were nominated and won a Billboard Music Award. Stop saying that KPOP need Western approval, or recognition in the West. No they don’t. They never will. They are popular in their own country and have tons of worldwide fans and are able to do so much, such as world tours, fan meets, traveling to countries they probably never thought of visiting. They are breaking down barriers that was set up from the past and are doing what any other musician would do, work hard to achieve their dreams. Wither a group wins an award, get nominated for one, or don’t, having someone in the KPOP industry being able to achieve things like this, is a step forward in a new direction. Doesn’t matter if you like the group who gets nominated or wins the award, show love that they are able to do that for future artist.

My ex hurt me very deeply, and I'm looking for little curses or hexes to make him see the error of his ways. Any ideas? I've never done curses before

  • [Devour Course] (to suffocate someone’s power over you and justly punish them for wrong done to you)
  • [Forget Me Not] (a curse full of regrets made with no regrets)
  • [Lunar Punishment Curse] (to discipline one’s target and make them realize the severity of their actions) (tw: gif)
  • [Mirrorbox Curse] (a curse for someone to learn a lesson, with a side of sheer malice for personal justice’s sake)
  • [My Pain to Yours] (a curse made for those who knowingly or unknowingly hurt you and continue to do so)
  • [Night of the Hunter] (a revenge curse to give the worst of ill wishes to the target)
  • [“Only a Memory” Curse] (for someone who has deeply wronged you and messed with your mental health; to banish them from your life and force them to face all the wrong they’ve done to you, and to allow you to let go of the pain and move on with your life) *my favorite*
  • [The “Poor Unfortunate Soul” Curse] (for use on those who have wronged you in the past)
  • [A Serious Curse for a Serious Crime] (for a target who has inflected personal pain on somebody, who has caused trauma, who has wronged other people or animals, etc., to “flood them in their wrongs”)
  • [‘The Source’ Curse] (to reflect everything you’ve experienced because of the target; additionally, it will cause paranoia, fear and often, a rash of extremely unpleasant dreams)
  • [Wake-Up Slap] (to make your target wake up and see what they’ve done) (tw: gif)
  • [Walk-a-Mile Hex] (to enlighten the target through disciplinary action; to force someone to see through the eyes of another, for the oppressor to feel their own oppression)
  • [“You Oughta Know” Curse] (ideal for getting back at an ex-lover, but should work for anyone who has wronged you)
  • [Your Joy Will Turn to Ashes, a Curse] (for someone who has wronged you in a grievous manner, especially by committing abuse; to return the negativity and pain to the target)

If you’ve never cursed before, I recommend really making sure this is what you wanna do, and that you’ll be committed to it. Not for any morality reasons - just doubt can (not always, but can) manifest interestingly in magic, particularly in regards to curses. If you’re not sure if you really want to send the curse, it might misfire or even rebound on you. You’ve gotta be confident that this is what you really want, and that you can stick it through, not regret it, and deal with any repercussions there might be. (Might, not guaranteed, and solid protections and cleansing can deal with most of the “backlash” from curse-slinging.)

Any advice for someone who wants to go into comics?

do the work

work hard

self deprecation is the least cute & helpful thing, fake it till u make it

don’t try to befriend ppl just to use their connections. don’t ask ppl to “hook you up”

make real friends in the industry who care about you & your work without giving a shit about how many followers/connections they might have. don’t be a social climber. if someone checks ur timeline & sees u tweeting incessantly at a whole bunch of different ppl without having any work of your own, that’s real telling

don’t begrudge other ppl opportunities given to them. be happy for them. jealousy & bitterness is not a good look

be genuine

finish your projects

never do unpaid work

it’s ok to assert boundaries & to stand up for your beliefs

get a flexible day job that gives benefits & time off if possible, bc paying bills on art alone esp when just starting is not sustainable & you will ruin your health & sanity in the process.

stay healthy. get regular check ups. eat right. take breaks. there’s no honor in working oneself to an early grave.

this is a long term game & there is NO such thing as an overnight success, so don’t begrudge. anyone who has “overnight success” spent years being invisible. you will not immediately succeed the minute you put some art out there. you might not for the first 5 or ten years. every year you spend “in the trench” counts.

above all, be kind & gracious to everyone– your colleagues, editors, anyone who comes up to your table at shows, their friends, significant others, etc.

Am I the only one upset with YNWA comeback? It's been barely 4 months since WINGS came out, and they've been busy with concert preparations and now comeback preparations... Sigh, and this rate, I wouldn't be surprised if they were to part ways with Big Hit in future :-/

I’m sorry that this turned into an extremely long answer, but I felt the need to do this.

Hm, I don’t know, I can’t say I agree with you. I mean, I wouldn’t say that they aren’t overworked or anything, but how come no one has ever considered that maybe it’s the members who want this, and it isn’t the company that is forcing it unto them?

I’ve mentioned this before, but BTS was formed for their musicality in the first place, they have a different purpose in comparison to other idols. Most if not all the members focus a lot on the music part of their career, so I find that it’s only normal that they would want to constantly come out with new music, which explains all the active comebacks they have despite the short breaks between comebacks. Same goes for concerts/tours that they do; if you’re someone who wants to make music, you want to connect with people through music, naturally you’d want to be able to perform and showcase this music, no?

And regarding BigHit, I think people don’t give them enough credit, honestly. Yeah, they lack in certain areas, but which entertainment company out there can you call perfect? If anything, BigHit has done swell when it comes to the management of the boys.

Before I talk about the good in BigHit, I am aware about their problems as a company. They constantly come up with new content to sell to the fans for extra profit, and they never really give fans much time to prepare themselves for a new comeback/release of new content. When it comes to the members themselves, I’m sure they have their own complains towards the company. Take Suga, the one who has been the most vocal about his complaints, as an example. At the start of BTS’ career, he talked about how he was conned into learning how to dance and becoming an idol, when all along he thought and was promised that all he needed to do was write music and rap. He was expecting to become a group like 1TYM, not a group known for their knife-like choreography. Watch the evidence here, it starts at 19:00. But over the years, I think Yoongi doesn’t feel against it anymore, because BTS is recognized for their dance and has been rewarded a ton of awards for best dance. Then fast forward after countless of comebacks with multiple hair colours, Yoongi has seriously damaged scalp and over bleached hair. He said he was going to sue BigHit for hair loss, and even though most took it as a joke, he didn’t only talk about it once, he said it twice. If anything, Yoongi isn’t really someone to say things he doesn’t mean. He’s a straightforward type guy, and he probably really feels dissatisfied towards the company for constantly bleaching his hair. The first time he talked about it was here (5:19 mark), and the second time, here (2:22 mark). He also talked about how people who dye their hair constantly suffer at the Gaon Charts Yinyuetai interview earlier this year. The era where they were most overworked was probably during their RUN days, and Yoongi talked about this too. It’s in this video, at the 5:09 mark as well as the 10:59 mark onwards. They haven’t slept more than 3 hours, they have back to back schedules, etc.

Now, with all that aside, I am aware of the vices of BigHit, but back to my point - BigHit has done swell when it comes to the management of the boys.

There are a few aspects when it comes to this. We can talk about the efforts BigHit makes in ensuring that they are able to keep their artistes satisfied. One classic example would be Yoongi. I just talked about how he’s complained throughout the RUN era about his hair and scalp, and what did BigHit do for the Blood, Sweat and Tears era?

The fact that BigHit gave Jin and V the opportunity to sing bangtan’s first ever OST instead of the other members would be another classic example. BigHit could’ve given the duet to Jungkook and Jimin easily, considering they are the main and lead vocals respectively, but they gave it to Seokjin and Taehyung instead. Okay, you can argue and say it’s natural that Taehyung got it since he’s the one acting in the show, but how about Jin? Watch this, from the 28:00 mark. You can tell Seokjin really wanted a chance to sing an OST, and BigHit indeed gave him one, which he’s so grateful for.

Back to Yoongi again (he seems to be surfacing a lot today), as well as Rap Monster this time, and in due time, J-Hope. The former two have always been extremely passionate in their music, and there’s a lot of areas they cannot explore as rappers/musicians when it comes to working as a team, because they have to ensure that the song fits 7 members, that the song is something worth putting on an album, etc. It limits them a lot, so what did BigHit do? BigHit opened a SoundCloud account for them where they can freely post up their own tracks and random raps and even song covers when it comes to vocal line, and they’ve never limited what bangtan do/post on the SoundCloud account. In fact, BigHit even fully funded Yoongi and Namjoon’s mixtapes despite not being able to make any profit from doing so. They provided a set, cameras, make up and stylists, everything necessary to produce an MV, just so that they are able to come up with their own mixtapes for them to showcase the stories that they were unable to tell through BTS.

Even when it comes to schedules, BigHit never makes the members do things they don’t want to. Remember in Yoongi’s track, ‘The Last’?

Show me the money, it’s not that I couldn’t but I didn’t shit

Also, realize that Yoongi is the only member that has never tried emceeing yet? Yoongi is the only member who has yet to have his own solo appearance in any one variety show/schedule, and if you ask me, I really think it’s because Yoongi never intended to live the idol life in the first place. He just wants to make music, not go on shows for more exposure or anything. But BigHit never once forced him to doing any, doesn’t that say a lot?

Enough with keeping their artistes satisfied, let’s move on to the care factor the company has. In any other company, their idols are all overworked to the point of fainting/working despite injuries or health issues, etc. But what has BigHit done every time any one member is injured? Here’s a compact list of the more prominent occurrences.

  • 28th Dec 2013 - Yoongi was diagnosed with appendicitis, BigHit withdrew him from year end schedules.
  • 27th Dec 2015 - BigHit cancelled 2 concerts in Japan for the sake of Yoongi and Taehyung.
  • 30th Dec 2015 - Namjoon was withdrawn from year end schedules because of his leg injury.
  • 24th July 2016 - BigHit chose to let Namjoon rest despite the hospital giving him the green light to resume schedules because there was nothing seriously wrong with his health.
  • 30th Sept 2016 - BigHit withdrew Namjoon from the 2016 K-Pop World Festival performance as well as the Busan One Asia Festival performance so that his leg will not result in injury. It was a preventive measure on their end.
  • 22nd Dec 2016 - BigHit withdrew Yoongi from all further activities so that he can rest, when it was a ear injury which technically isn’t a very big deal.

BigHit could’ve easily made the members continue to promote and perform, because in most cases, it wasn’t really anything serious, but yet, they chose to make them rest instead. Other companies wouldn’t have done that unless the member has a leg injury or is bed ridden.

BigHit has also been very protective of their artistes. It’s very important that a company addresses issues early in order to protect their artistes, and it’s even more important that the company is willing to come to the rescue of their artistes when the need arises. There’s this, and there’s this too. There was also this too.

Another thing would be how BigHit doesn’t limit the boys in any way at all. Even as trainees, the boys were given handphones and allowed to communicate with the outside world through logs and Twitter, unlike every other idol trainee out there who practically lives in a dungeon. There was never dating bans in their contracts (evidence here) and they were never told to behave a certain way nor were they put under extremely strict diets. When they dieted, it was mostly out of their own will rather than their company wanting them to be slim or whatever.

In lyrics, they were never told to not talk about a certain topic, and in fact, they are now known for always attacking real world topics and issues. They aren’t the first group to do so, but it still definitely sets them apart from boring old romance lyrics in present day kpop.

And the most important thing of all…

And then there was Jin who talked about missing the managers,

I mean, if you don’t enjoy the time you spend with the company I don’t think you’d talk about missing them. You can tell they are grateful to these people who care for them no matter what. Remember how they all hugged their managers (not one, all) when they won the daesang?

Look at the managers looking so happy for them. The one in green striped shirt was hugging Jungkook and there’s Namjoon hugging the other manager on the right.

I don’t know about you, and although I wouldn’t say that they have a family bond with the staff, but you can tell they all really love each other and there’s definitely some form of a bond between them. Not just with the managers, but even with the producers who have worked hard behind the scenes for the boys. Look at this video, Mr Son and the staff who were with him were literally so elated for BTS’ first win. And then there was this, where Slow Rabbit (Big Hit producer) cried when bangtan got Artist of the Year at MAMA. Then there’s Pdogg (Big Hit producer, aka the man behind BTS’ title tracks) who was constantly supportive of the boys in his tweets here and here.

I can understand the heart of those ARMYs who are constantly upset with BigHit because they are worried about the members’ health in general, but sometimes we have to look at things from different perspectives. In my opinion, bangtan is happy under their management, and when they have complaints, Bang PD is willing to talk it out with them. I mean, he’s clearly close to the boys, to the point where he’s alright with joking around with them all the time. If he wasn’t we wouldn’t be blessed with things like this:

Even when renewal of contracts becomes an issue, I feel like he’d try to meet the needs of the members and he’d want to continue housing all 7 of them. BTS is the first group he’s ever produced. GLAM and 8Eight were collaborations with Source Music, HOMME, 2AM, and everyone else were transferred under him, so BTS would mean more to him than anything else. He single-handedly made them, so I don’t know. I don’t feel you on this.

Even if you never listen to any other thing I have to say, please listen to this:

Stop disparaging your work.

No matter what form it takes, prefacing your work with phrases like, “This sucks; This is probably bad; I’m not a good writer/artist/creator but I did this anyway,” is a two-edged knife and both sides are lethal.

On the one hand, putting yourself down rots away not only any self-esteem you do have, but any you might be trying to build. If the most constant voice in your life – your own – tells you you’re awful, you’ll never be any good, why bother when so-and-so is ‘better’ or such-and-such is ‘more popular’ guess what? You’ll start believing that voice. And, chances are, you’ll stop creating anything at all, because why bother?

The other deadly edge of the knife is that if you’re putting work out there – and I see this all the time – with tags or artist’s/author’s notes that say, “This probably sucks,” or variants, many people won’t give it a chance. They will never even click the read more or the link that might let them make up their own minds because you’ve already told them it’s not worth their time. People are pretty susceptible to suggestion. If you start them off with the thought, “This is going to suck,” even those who do click that read more will be predisposed to see the flaws you’ve prepared them for and think poorly of your effort.

Stop disparaging your own work.

I know it’s hard. I do. Putting yourself out there where anyone can see and anyone can say anything is so terrifying. Creative work is personal. It often leaves us feeling particularly vulnerable. When we’re vulnerable and afraid of being hurt, we often get defensive even before anything bad has been said. A lot of the time, that defensiveness comes out as self-deprecation.

Nothing is ever perfect. Everything has flaws. That’s part of what makes each creation unique. Some people will love your work. Others won’t. That goes with the territory. Make art for the audience who’ll love you, not the ones who won’t. Above all – and I cannot stress this enough – make sure that you are part of that first audience. That starts by not putting yourself down in the instant you put yourself out there.

Creating work is challenging and scary and wonderful and brave. Letting other people see that work? Even more so. Keep working. Keep learning. Keep failing and trying and failing and trying; that’s the only way any of us learn and grow and change and get better.

But most of all? Stop putting yourself down. You deserve better than that. Yes. You do. You really, truly do.

Don’t Glamorize Overworking

After seeing the post floating around that talked about the Naruto animator that died due to overwork, I feel this needs to be said to all my followers. Stop thinking that suffering for your work is a thing you have to do. Stop thinking that working yourselves too hard is a thing you should do. Stop thinking you have to be a martyr. No job or art or book or whatever is worth suffering for.

When I was in art school I went to school full time and I also had to work a regular retail job. When I graduated from art school, I started working full time in retail while also working on comics full time. So for about I think…10 years? I regularly had 60 hour work weeks between college and 2 jobs. And I was miserable. I didn’t eat, I didn’t really sleep, I wasn’t happy. I was super underweight and got sick all the time. I really didn’t have any friends because I had no time for them. I didn’t even have time for fun.

Fortunately I was able to leave retail and work on comics exclusively full time. So now I put strict rules on the time I spend on work each day. I’ll never work past 5 PM on any day unless it’s extremely ridiculous crunch time. (this is thankfully extremely rare) In turn I’m much better off mentally. Physically I’m much healthier. I actually have friends now and have the ability to play games or draw for fun. It doesn’t matter if you’re a working professional or student or whatever, in instances where you have the ability to take control of your schedule, DO IT. Your health is so important and sometimes it’s all you have.

I totally get that not everyone has the ability to make their own schedule, maybe you HAVE to work 60 hours because you’re on call or have a family to support or whatever. You don’t have to have complete control of your schedule in order to give yourself limits or actually allow yourself to be healthy. Just don’t glamorize overworking. Don’t feel like you have to sacrifice yourself to get something done. Don’t be afraid to ask for help. And don’t die because you felt you had to suffer to be a real artist.

anonymous asked:

HI Lady Kay! I'm a huge fan of your blog! When you were in your third year of medical school, did people constantly try to convince you to pursue pretty much any other field besides surgery? I'm a woman interested in gen surg residency, but I seem receive discouragement from almost any non-surgeon I talk to. I want to pursue what I love the most, but it's definitely unsettling when so many people are basically telling me that I will be a lifelong workaholic with a bad home life. Thoughts?

ALL THE TIME.

ALL THE TIME.

It’s something that makes me so angry that people still think about surgery. Women in surgery can be anything they want. They can be moms and wives. They can rescue puppies or climb mountains. They can be cardiothoracic surgeons and pediatric surgeons and oncologic surgeons. They can have two XX chromosomes or not. They can like to own fancy shoes or like to wear nothing but jeans. They can wear lipstick to work every single day or never wear makeup any day of their lives.

Women in surgery are amazing and can do anything they want.

People on the outside don’t get that.

But as someone on the inside – let me tell you – I am going to get everything.

I am a surgery intern. One of the years that is notorious for being the hardest. And yet… I’m buying a house and getting married. I find time to go for a run a couple times a week and I cook meals for myself. I manage to read about one book a month that’s not about medicine. I’m writing on this blog right now.

I am going to get everything that matters to me.

I won’t say that there haven’t been compromises and sacrifices. I don’t do quite as many different things as I used to before I was a resident. I’m sure you’ve noticed I don’t blog as much anymore. I read fewer books. Sometimes I decide I don’t care if my hair was washed two days ago because dry shampoo exists and it’s pulled back all day anyway.

About a year ago - I had an ampersand tattooed on my ankle to remind me of the word “and”. I will always have a lot of “and”s involved in who I am.

I am a surgeon AND a wife-to-be AND a cook AND a writer AND a friend AND a daughter AND a sister AND a runner.

And I’m only adding to those things. If I’m lucky, soon I’ll get to add AND a mother, AND a researcher AND a teacher AND a whole lot of other things.

Being a surgeon is one thing I do – sure it’s a really incredible thing I do – but it’s only one thing I do. I do a whole lot of other things and being a surgeon is not the only thing that defines me.

Women in medicine and women in surgery are amazing. We are a great many things – and backwards ideas that we have to “give something up” are sexist and antiquated. Ideas that say we can’t be all we want should be shut down.

yaboy-robin  asked:

so here's a scenario for you- the sole survivor is one of the best people the companions have met. however, they seem to be the only one that thinks that - as anyone who meets the sole survivor is rude, overly mad, and even blames them for things that aren't the sole's fault - even other companions (other than the ones in the react). can we get a companions react to one more person being rude to the sole - and the companion's had enough of people being rude?

Cait: She snaps. She whirls around, catches the offender by the lapels of their coat, and shoves them up against the nearest wall. “Alright, listen up, you fuckwit son of a bitch.” Her fists grip tighter, and her knuckles turn white. She goes nose to nose with her prey. “Sole is one of the best people you’ll ever have the fuckin’ luxury to know. And if I hear you say shit about them one more time, I’ll beat yer ass so hard you won’t shit right for a week.”

Codsworth: “Mx. Sole, I’ve had enough!” he blurts. He flinches when all eyes turn on him, but pushes on. “You’ve done nothing but kind things for these people, and sacrificed so much to be here. I can’t- I can’t stand seeing them be so rude to you! And I-I know it doesn’t mean much, from me, I know no one listens to me, but.” He turns and addresses the crowd. “You all should be ashamed of yourselves!”

Curie: “You don’t know what you’re talking about!” she exclaims, rounding on the person. She wags a scolding finger at them, looking like an indignant schoolteacher. “Sole has been nothing but good and kind to me, and everyone else we’ve met! The only reason any of you have been unkind is because of small-minded fears and prejudices. Well, no more. Sole deserves all the respect and kindness in the world.”

Danse: “I suggest you keep your mouth shut, civilian.” Danse rises to his full height, looking very imposing in his power armor and fierce glare. “Maybe you are incapable of respecting good people when you see them, but this person is better and more capable than you’ll ever be. Perhaps you should learn when to pick your battles, instead of insulting people with more honor in their little finger than you have in your entire body.”

Deacon: “Let he who has committed no sin cast the first stone, am I right?” he snaps back. He glances at Sole. “That’s the line, right?” Without waiting for a reply, he pushes on. “Maybe you should stay out of other people’s business, ‘kay? You don’t want me insulting you just because you haven’t brushed your teeth for three weeks and smell like you hit your kids, or something. Just, like, have a little respect. We don’t all need to be assholes.”

Dogmeat: He growls at them, even snapping his jaws if he finds them particularly repulsive. He won’t do anything unless Sole commands it, but he makes sure to glare at and snarl at the insulting person whenever they’re around.

Hancock: His eyes narrow, black depths glimmering. He steps forward, between the jerk and Sole, somehow looming over them regardless of any difference in height. “I think you were talking to the wrong person,” Hancock says, brandishing a knife, shining in the light. “’Cause I’m a real bastard. I own that. But Sole? Nah. They’ve never done anything to you, and never will.” He points his knife towards the curve of their neck. “Me, though…”

Nick Valentine: “Don’t do this.” Suddenly he’s all sharp and angry, losing his temper in the blink of an eye. “You remember how you treated me, years ago, when I was a newbie to this town and your kind loathed me?” He jerks a thumb to his chest. “How’d that work out for you? Maybe you should think before you speak.” He’s almost like a disappointed father, berating and shaming the jerk into mumbling an apology.

MacCready: “Well, you- you suck!” he shouts, glowering at them over his shoulder. It sounds way lamer than he imagined it in his head, though, and the jerk laughs at him. So he marches forward, all short and thin and furious. “Yeah, laugh, go right ahead. You won’t be laughing when I- when I pop your head from a hundred miles away, asshole.” The use of profanity is lost on the stranger, but Sole gasps, and Mac feels a little proud.

Piper: “How dare you?” she snaps, jabbing a finger into their chest. “After everything Sole’s done for you? What? What are you saying about me, too. Are you saying I’m dumb for traveling with them? ‘Cause, hoo-boy, buddy, believe you me, I’m not as nice as Sole. I’ll- I’ll fight you. I will! Let’s just- let’s go out back. Right now. You and me. Mano-e-mano. Or, uh… Persono… e… woman-o. Yeah. Let’s go. Let’s do this.” Sole has to drag her away, still shouting.

Preston: He turns on the person, looking stern. “Have you ever fought for anything?” he demands. “Sole has given up so much to support the Commonwealth, and never gets a word of thanks for it. Before you judge them, before you blame them, maybe you should think about what we’re trying to accomplish, in the long run.” He gets up on his soapbox and gives a heartfelt speech. People are inspired. Old women cry. He kisses a baby afterwards.

Strong: He twitches. Before anyone can stop him, he’s got one meaty paw around the offender’s neck, giving it a pinch to see how the person squirms. Everyone rushes to stop him, but he looks to Sole, ignoring the other humans. “Strong break?” he asks, waiting for the order.

X6-88: He seems calm at first. “Should I kill them, Mx. Sole?” he asks, almost pleasant. Sole says no, of course, but that doesn’t stop him. He tracks them down, later, and is waiting in their house when they come home that day. He takes off his sunglasses, and somehow, that’s more terrifying than anything else. “You shouldn’t have spoken to Sole like that,” he says, and suddenly there’s a knife in his hand. “I’ll make sure you don’t make that mistake again.”

Dares and Closets (Don’t Mix Well)

Langst with a side of truth or dare! Enjoy please!

It was a nice night, calm. No missions for them yet, so it was relaxed. A perfect night for a game Keith guessed. When you put five very bored paladins together, some things happen. Just like this kind of game. Which, Keith really had no clue started honestly. Or who even really thought this was a good idea. A group exercise and a ‘get to know you’ game all in one. All Keith knew, was that was bull, and the game was just strange and humiliating at times. Oh, what was this exact game?

Truth or Dare.

Basically, to Keith’s understanding, the game was ‘do a sexual or humiliating thing, or tell us who you like’. With other things squished in to make it not seem so obvious what information they really wanted. Just stupid random things, whether it was to make you uncomfortable, or make you do or say some plain weird things that would never be spoke of again in any circumstance.

So, it’s what Lance would call Vegas. What happens in the Truth or Dare circle, stays in the circle.

Sitting in together on the floor all the paladins, Pidge, Hunk, Shiro, Keith, and finally Lance. Allura and Coran were just idly observing and during their own work or entertainment while they kept an eye on the young adults. And so far, the game was going fine. Random things happened, like Hunk having to give Pidge a piggyback ride. Keith having to run around the whole facility two times. Dodging the occasional paladins who were stalking him to make sure he ran the whole way and not take any short cuts. Shiro had to stand on his head for so long that he almost passed out. And the things that were forced out of people will never be brought up again under any circumstances. Kinks, are shamed and will forever stay in the closet. Speaking of closets.

Keith watched passively as Pidge gave a sly smirk, he knew what the look in her eyes meant, he was wondering just who was going to be humiliated now. Pidge pointed directly at Lance, who grinned widely as the damning words were spoken. Keith thought it was a little odd, but all of the options he’d picked had been dares. All of those dares were done with absolutely no hesitation. It was awe-inspiring, disgusting, and even a little bit impressive. Honestly speaking, unlike Lance, there was no way in hell that Keith would even let his face get within a foot of the bathroom floor, and there was Lance. Got a dare of licking it. And he freaking did it. He was going to get sick. When that did happen, all Keith was going to say was ‘I told you so’. Maybe get him some cold medication after he admitted fault.

“Truth or Dare Lance.” Lance rolled his eyes, giving a mischievous grin of his own.

“I thought you were smart Pidge? Do you eve have to ask me anymore? Dare, come at me bro.” Pidge grinned widely to match Lance’s own smile. Spinning a random pen in her hands, she pointed accusingly at him again.

“Take the person you hate the most, and lock yourself in the nearest broom closet with them for a whole hour.” Keith rolled his eyes, almost ready to get up and start walking to the closet himself. Ready to get it over with as soon as possible, because no matter how Keith thought of Lance. Sitting in a stuffy, dark, broom closet, was a pass time he wouldn’t even do willingly with his favorite person in the world. Though, Lance wasn’t a terrible person to be stuck with. Better than Hunk, seeing as Hunk was a nice guy, but of a much taller and bigger form than Keith. The only thing that stopped Keith from standing up however was Lance. Who’s face remained stiff like stone, but his eyes held panic at first, until it smoothed over to a blank, dull, blue grey. Unlike the usually fun and joke loving light in his eyes. Lance got up stiffly, and started walking across the circle towards Keith, making the red paladin a little unsettled, especially with that blank look in his eyes. Keith shifted, until the tan, Cuban male was nearly in front of him. Keith held his breath.

But Lance just walked right past him, brushed past him like nothing. Not even a glance back. Just walking straight ahead, blue eyes forward, brown hair shifting with the movement and breeze from the vents. His tan skin was barely visible from his tan and gold jacket and jeans. Feet padding away with small thumps until he was so far away no one could see him or hear the soft footfalls. Shiro had tried to call out to him, maybe stop him. But Lance was never one to hesitant or change his mind. So, it was already too late to go after him by the time he disappeared behind the door. The remaining four just sat and stared for a short while, before Hunk cleared his throat to get everyone’s attention.

“Um, Shiro. Truth or dare?” His voice was steady, but it was easy to tell that he was distracted by Lance’s sudden disappearance. Just like it was obvious that he wasn’t the only one as Shiro didn’t even respond to the question at first, only giving a soft ‘huh?’ as his name processed in his mind.

It was pretty clear the mood was dead and the game was quickly falling apart with Lance’s sudden disappearance from the main room. Leaving only an off feeling and a strange silence to replace the light fun. No more licking disgusting floors and laughing at the poor bastard who was dared to do it. Not even any stupid jokes that made everyone groan and call Lance annoying. The game was dead and people were beginning to separate and go off on their own for the night as they realized that. Keith however, was still bothered. Knowing that he should probably just ignore it and go to his own residence for the night, he found himself hesitating and contemplating it in his mind. Then briskly walking past his own room and straight to the room of a certain idiotic male. Finding not even a sigh of life in the blue paladin’s room to Keith’s disappointment. The black haired male bit back a sigh and walked out. Checking the various places in the facility.

Nothing in the kitchen. The commonplaces were completely empty and dark, even the library, still nothing. Though, in Keith’s mind the library had been a long shot. After nearly an hour of searching in every place Keith could think of looking he was ready to give up as he checked the main room one last time before walking away. About to give up and guess that the tan male just wanted some alone time for some reason, Keith stopped as he heard a soft noise. Like a snore or a sigh. That definitely wasn’t his. Keith turned on his heel and looked around the hallway. There wasn’t anything here though, nothing really. Except an old broom closet.

Broom closet.

The closest closet to the main room.

Where they were playing before Lance left.

It didn’t sound right to Keith, to even think of that being a possible thing, but, being thorough was a sign of a job well done. And Keith was anything but half-assed with anything he’d ever committed to do. So, against everything he knew about Lance and his stupid joking ways. He opened the broom closet door silently. Eyes widening in surprise as he saw the exact paladin he had been looking for. Lance’s back was against the farthest wall, in the corner. His legs were loosely bent against his chest, propped up by his shoe clad feet. His arms were splayed against his stomach and his head was lulled to the side. His hair falling messily around his head as if he were constantly running his fingers through it. And with further examination, Keith found his eyes to be closed in his sleep. Puffy and red as if he’d been…

Keith didn’t like the mental image of Keith sitting in the dark and crying. He didn’t like to think of that, Lance, sitting here for the full hour as the rest of them sat in the main room together. Falling asleep in the closet. Not dragging anyone with him, when he was supposed to bring the person he hated the most-

Remembering that part of the dare almost made seeing Lance like this so much worse, because Lance never didn’t listen to a dare. And if he brought the person he hated most into the closet with him; and there was only him in the closet. It spoke volumes that just made it even more depressing to think over. Keith could say that he hated the revelation more than seeing the tear tracks on Lance’s cheeks. A hard level of hatred to beat.

Looking over his shoulder, Keith checked the hallway, before looking back at the usually happy and upbeat paladin and reaching in towards him. Looping one of his arms underneath the boy’s legs, and cautiously wedging the other one between Lance’s back and the wall to get a decent hold on him before lifting him up slowly, and pulling his unconscious body out of the small broom closet. Being mindful not to bang the other’s head on the door frame as he silently closed the closet door with his foot after them.

Trying his best not to wake the other up as he leaned the brown-haired male’s head against his shoulder as Keith carried him. Tightening his grip on the male, Keith took small and smooth steps as he headed towards the other’s room. A frown set deeply on his lips as he let his thoughts wander on the way there. He didn’t know how to feel. Or explain how he was feeling. It was like his heart was in his stomach. He was lightheaded and wanted to collapse to the ground and empty out his stomach. Maybe it’s lodge his heart back into place.

But, he wasn’t going to do that. Not now, not while he was carrying Lance at least. After he had put the other male down it might be free game. It was still painful and sad though, even if he wasn’t acting on the feeling. Keith hated the emotion with a passion. He preferred hearing the blue paladin tell some stupid punchline, or a story that made everyone groan and roll their eyes. Even if they were terrible jokes at least it made the blue paladin look like himself. Being depressed and hiding in a closet with self-hatred wasn’t him. Not Lance.

Was it?

Shaking off the thoughts, Keith ignored them. Instead focusing on taking long strides and making it to the blue paladin’s room without hitting the Cuban male’s head or dropping him. Which was a successful feat, until it came to actually getting them in the door. Being as they were both grown ass men, one in a princess hold, trying to get through a small doorway that was very likely not as wide as Lance’s height, even if he was curled up.

Though, Keith wasn’t a quitter, and five minutes later, both males were in Lance’s room after a lot of maneuvering a limp paladin and inching forward without hitting anything, being too loud, or stepping on a stray object in the room. But eventually Keith was able to flop the other male down onto his bed. The covers were still messily sprawled across the bed, so it was easy to pull them over the sleeping male before Keith stepped away to observe Lance once more, before Keith reached down with a gloved hand and rubbed the tear stains from Lance’s red cheeks and puffy eyes. Keith retracted his hand shortly after. Paranoid of the other walking up as Keith turned away and inched out the door again. Pausing only once to look back before he shut the door to leave the other paladin alone in his room.

“You aren’t supposed to cry Lance.”

And Keith walked away.

When Chasing Love (NSFW 18+)

A/N: Hiii, this is like my first ever Stuart fic. I’ve technically done one with the Hoes a while back but this is my first individual one. The title of this was based off a poem by Michael Faudet that is the bases for this fic. I want to thank @writing-obrien as usual for being my biggest motivator and helper, but I’m also going to thank her for any future help she will undoubtly lend me. This is really different than I’ve written before, but it was the best way I could think to give a good perspective from all sides instead of one. I also wanted to try this style of writing out, because I do plan on writing a Styida fic at some point. I hope you guys like this and thank you all for being wonderfully beautiful people.

I’m utterly disgusted with how people have been treating Ishida because they didn’t get a damn gay ship. There was never any defining fact that he ever was going to, so it’s not like he betrayed anyone, you guys came to that conclusion on your own. So you can only blame themselves for that. This is also NOT YOUR STORY FOR GOD’S SAKE! This is the story Ishida wants to tell, you don’t have to agree with it, but telling a man who works nearly every fucking week on 20 chapters with as much refined art and detail as he does to kill himself because you saw a straight ship come to life? And then you have the BALLS to fucking call him homophobic because he didn’t pair Kaneki with a character that had the same sex as him? Aren’t you the ones being heterophobic? You fucking hypocrites disgust me to no end with how low you’re willing to go over characters that will NEVER exist, over a story that ISN’T yours, and just because YOU thought Kaneki might have been gay, and YOU convinced your pathetic self that was the truth, you lost your fucking minds when you were brought back to reality. Do us all a favour and leave the Tokyo Ghoul Fandom, you don’t deserve to be here. You people who dare threaten a man by burning copies of a series he worked SO DAMN HARD TO MAKE and being happy about it and telling him to end his life for writing what he wanted, and then calling him inaccurate names (considering the fact that there have been gay characters in Tokyo Ghoul before in case you dimwitted fucks forgot) because you didn’t get your way with how you imagined Kaneki’s sexuality?! You are pathetic. I have no respect or patience for anyone who threatens a man who has been nothing but kind to his readers by making two fantastic dark stories. Get the fuck away from him, you wouldn’t be talking all this shit if people started attacking all your fanfics/Fanarts like you’ve been attacking Ishida. As for the shippers who didn’t get their wish but didn’t get this uppity and violent, I’m truly sorry you guys are now associated with those pricks. I myself tolerate all ships, I don’t tolerate the absolutely criminal and disrespectful behaviour. And yes, criminal behaviour is what telling someone to commit suicide is. Trying or succeeding to coax someone into suicide is punishable by law, as you’re trying to get someone to take away their life. Good job making big news by the way, where every media outlet covering this topic knows your social identities.
