they make mistakes and screw up and hurt people

I make mistakes. All the time. I mess up and I hurt myself and I hurt other people and most of the time, we can all brush it off and laugh about it a month later. But this time? I don’t get to screw up this time. Because if I mess this up, I lose her. I’ve tried living without her, and believe me, I can’t do it.

My Observation on Katsudeku

Okay, there seems to be a misconception about the entire concept of pairing characters that fight/argue/abuse/hurt/or hate each other.

These types of pairings draw a certain crowd I think, but that depends on how it is portrayed. I’ve been drawn to complicated pairings with dark subject matter since I got into the stuff.

Here is why I think Katsuki and Izuku as a pairing is both potentially negative and positive. Take this as you may - because I am weird when it comes to “shipping.”

Katsuki told Izuku to kill himself. He has physically beat him up, vocalized his dislike for and berated him, and looked at him like dirt. As for exactly “why” he did these things…I think it’s a complicated question with no definite resolution. Many people have broken this down and analyzed it. I chalk it up to Katsuki simply becoming a nasty person. He had a gift in the power of his quirk and it went to his head.

Izuku was this pathetic weakling that he felt was of no value to him. He felt like he was being mocked when Izuku followed him and praised him. God forbid, praise coming from the biggest loser, right?

Katsuki has many layers as a character. He’s an interesting character because he seems to be the embodiment of what unfortunately many people are like (albeit exaggerated): selfish, prideful, and stubborn. He is the character that (in my opinion) makes you question what truly is right and wrong. What it really means to be a hero.

In short he is misguided. He has part of the equation figured out, but not like Izuku. He hates the idea that Izuku is stronger than him where it matters - in being SELFLESS. Katsuki just wants to beat up villains and win all the battles. In retrospect, that’s not heroic in and of itself.

Izuku, the weakling with nothing, showed ultimate selflessness when he tried to help save Katsuki from the villain in the beginning of the manga. That was the pivotal moment that changed their relationship. Because that was what got Katsuki thinking.

He began to doubt himself.

So after the fight he and Izuku had, most of these sentiments became obvious. All Might drove the point home as well. Izuku will get himself killed if he doesn’t control his instinct to dive in and try to save everyone, thus resulting in people dying, and Katsuki will unintentionally be the result of people dying by focusing solely on defeating the bad guy. Innocents might have to die in that process.

Therefore, they are going to start supporting each other (as already implied) and drive out improvements where the other is lacking. This is where they start to make amends.

It’s sad because Izuku is such a kind and compassionate character. He puts others above himself. He is what most people strive to be: understanding, selfless, empathetic.

He was a victim of pure, classical unabashed bullying. And there is no excuse for what Katsuki did other than he was simply being a horrible person. Yes he received excessive praise, but arrogance and abuse don’t always go hand in hand.

He had no genuine reason to bully Izuku.

I say this because bullies, despite all being detestable, are not all cut from the same crop. Some people end up torturing others because that’s all they know (ie. abusive parents, poor living conditions, trauma, etc.) Others, because they are ill and think it’s funny, or it gets them attention, and so on and so forth. Please note I am not condoning bullying in any way. No amount of suffering gives you the right to take it out on others.

So as for Izuku - this is where it gets a little murky for me. We know he looked up to Katsuki more than anyone else, they were childhood friends, and he wanted to be like him.

But there seems to be little content solidifying his connection to Katsuki. I mean this in the sense that in the flashbacks we have been given so far, they haven’t been shown doing many mutually “friend like” things together.

So I see it as a form of a somewhat unhealthy obsession. Izuku is kinda obsessed with Katsuki, as he is in general with heroes (especially All Might.) This is similar to the Naruto/Sasuke dynamic. And as we all know, the author of MHA was influenced by Naruto.

So now we have a victim obsessed with his friend-turned-bully-turned-rival.

It could very well be viewed as unhealthy in this regard. But it is a two sided coin.

If you look at it through the pairing glasses, it comes off as them being infatuated with each other and not knowing how to handle it at this point. That opens a world of opportunity for character exploration in fan works.

But realistically, it’s now a matter of time before Katsuki finally accepts what he did wrong and apologizes to Izuku. I don’t know if it will be a traditional apology per say, but it’s highly likely to happen. It’s been confirmed Katsuki is not walking the villain path any time soon, so he can only improve from this point on.

My guess would be it’ll end up being a reciprocal of what Izuku did for him in the beginning, but this is just speculation this early on. We have a lot more material on store for us in this story.

Based on their history together, Izuku and Katsuki harbor a deep emotional connection. It is a little weird, because like I stated, we haven’t seen much of a given reason as to why. Factoring in the obsession theory makes it a little clearer.

It can be a great pairing in the sense of emotional healing and bonding. Deep relationships do not always come from a picture perfect background. People aren’t perfect. We make mistakes and screw stuff up all the time. We hurt people in many ways - both intentionally and unintentionally.

The fascinating part of this relationship is how these characters are demonstrating evolvement. They started as the thorn in each other’s sides and are growing to become each other’s biggest inspiration and support. This is how the pairing should be viewed.

You can mess around with it in so many ways because of how unique it is. Frankly I haven’t seen anything like it in a while, and that’s why it snatched my attention. From both a platonic and romantic point of view.

That and the classic sadomasochistic characteristics. Can’t go wrong with that. Usually lol.

So in conclusion, please don’t degrade us into a basic “abuse supporting” cage. These characters are written with far too many nuances of intricacy to just chalk it up to basic feelings and surface actions.

As noted, yes, there are those who choose to write this relationship a certain way because yes - there is source material to work with. Do I condone this? I have no right to judge other people based on what they write.

Fiction and reality are not the same thing. Fiction can enhance or diminish real life motions. For better or worse.

So enjoy the ship if you like it. Don’t feel intimidated because people are trying to guilt you out of liking it. There is nothing wrong with it. In fact, I think it’s great because it demonstrates that true connections run deep. The ability to forgive and apologize and understand - katsudeku can show this with or without the romance.

I rest my case. Peace out.

We always look at The Flash as The Flash Begins. The Flash from the comic books is something we’re going to get to, and that we’re really seeing him from the beginning. Part of the hero’s journey is screwing up really badly. The end of last season was about Barry screwing up really badly. The journey for anyone in life because we’ve all made terrible mistakes and we’ve all hurt other people, whether intentionally or not. It’s what you do then that’s what separates you from whether you’re a hero or a villain. Is he realizing that with great power comes great responsibility, as another superhero so eloquently said? That’s really Barry’s lesson for this season that he takes forward to make him a better hero.
—  Executive Producer Andrew Kreisberg on whether Barry Allen is really a hero

i. When they break your heart, don’t blame yourself. Some people are not right for each other. That does not make them better or worse than you. I am so sorry they caused you pain.

ii. Stitch your heart back together with love, not hatred. Never stop believing in love. Never stop believing that there is love in everything. Never stop loving.

iii. They may have stabbed you in the heart, but your heart is still beating. That is amazing. People will not tell you you are strong as much as you deserve to be told it, but I will. Never forget that you are a warrior.

iv. There are songs that will tell you it is okay to harbor anger for the rest of your life. There are songs that will tell you to stick both of your middle fingers up to everyone who makes mistakes that negatively impact you. Turn off the radio.

v. Believe in second chances. Believe in third chances. Believe in all of the chances in the entire world. But never back down. Tell people to screw themselves when they deserve it. Tell them you are not a damn doormat. Then forgive them.

vi. Don’t be afraid to let go of anything less than you deserve. This includes feelings. Leave anyone who is not positively benefiting you. That does not mean you have to hate them.

vii. Remember that there are people who hurt as much as you do. Everyone is fighting battles against the world, and more importantly, battles against themselves. The one who broke your heart is fighting their own battles. They may seem happier than you right now, but they are not always happy. You affected them more than your damaged self-confidence will let you believe.

viii. Believe people are good at heart. Believe in the good in the world. Remember the good times.

ix. When they break your heart, don’t blame yourself.

x. I believe in you.

—  To my future children

I bet all the people who are complaining about the Concrete situation are white. Because as an African American, I don’t even care. And maybe it did hurt some people of color, BUT THEY APOLOGIZED. Do you people honestly think that the Crew is racist? That they put this little picture in the book and was like “yeah this gonna fucking spread my hateful ways”. Jesus people can screw up and make mistakes, all this misguided hate is stupid. What do you want from them? If someone made a genuine mistake and meant no harm behind it, and they apologize, then it’s over. You don’t have to forgive them but leave them alone. The internet is reaching a dark age where everything little thing is blown out of proportion. This fandom just gets worse and worse every year I’m in it.

anonymous asked:

what do you think the sides biggest fears are?

Please send me headcanons or questions about the sides!

Well in the true identity video Patton, Roman, and Logan said spiders, rejection, and what exactly is at the bottom of the ocean respectively.

I think Roman’s biggest fear being rejection makes the most sense. He represents Thomas’ romantic side and his creativity. Most likely the part of him that idealizes his friends and any romantic/sexual partners Thomas might have. Being rejected by your friends or a partner is a very real thing that happens to everyone and it can be terrifying. Also, creative people are often rejected many times in their lives. By their peers, by directors and agencies, by sponsors, etc. and being rejected so many times can lead to anxiety over that kind of thing.

With Morality? I don’t know. I don’t think spiders are actually his biggest fear but they’re probably pretty far up there. With someone like Thomas I’d think the moral and emotional fears he might have could include pushing people away, coming off as rude, mean, or inappropriate, losing people via location change, death, a falling out, or just growing apart. That sort of thing.

With Logan its a bit trickier. Perhaps Thomas does have a fear of the bottom of the ocean for some logical reason, but I don’t think that’s the biggest issue. I think Logan’s biggest fear may just be being wrong. And I think he has a good reason for this. He’s all of Thomas’ knowledge and logic and most of his practical thinking. If a decision is made that screws up Thomas’ life somehow, Thomas might not have anyone to blame but his own self. His faulty logic. Thomas is an entertainer now. He used to be a chemical engineer. If you make a mistake as an engineer you could end up hurting real people. If you make a mistake as an entertainer you could hurt people in a different way and possibly be thrown under the bus, have your entire reputation ruined, and your career ended. Logic and knowledge plays a huge part in managing all that.

With Virgil? All that, and death. Losing, rejection, all of it. He is fear. He is those doubts. If there’s one thing above all the others, it might just be that Thomas done screwed up.

If we screw up and post a submission that’s potentially in poor taste, being snarky or overtly mean isn’t going to make us delete it harder nor faster. We try and catch these submissions when they crop up, but we don’t always, and whilst you have every right to be upset about it, the fact remains that all you’re doing is making four actual real-life human people upset over an easy mistake that most of them had literally nothing to do with. The last thing that we want to do is hurt anyone, and will delete basically anything bad upon request without a lot of fuss, so sending us anonymous hate mail about it really isn’t necessary.

If you don't mind, could you tell us your headcanons on the Uchiha? The Blood Price series has made me curious how you set them up

So the biggest thing about the Uchiha for me is the sharingan. Not necessarily the powers it has to copy ninjutsu or create big fuck-off bone monsters, but the character implications of having Perfect Recall. See, the moment I read what the sharingan does, I thought three things.

Reasons Why Raph RULES OOTS:
  • That big lug just can’t say no to Donnie. <3 And omg that must really HURT. He’s big! He’s HUGE! But he does it because, awwwwww <3 (and also because Donnie’s clearly trained him well!)
  • Cheering for his team. When Raph is rootin’ for ya, you know about it. The stadium shakes. Plus I just love his unrestrained enthusiasm - you gotta love the big, stoic, grumpy one letting loose and carrying on like a goon!
  • He’s there in an instant to pep talk Mikey: “you got this, you got this!” Listen to him! This is life and death! Right then, there is no task more vital on this earth than Mikey hitting his target: Vern. He’s completely, wholeheartedly earnest about it. It’s adorable.
  • “My turn, my turn, my turn!” daaawww, you big excited teddy bear!
  • Actually, can we talk about how this movie laid down all these amazing clues about how Raph and Mikey have teamed up since they were kids, making their police headquarters break in scheme all the more natural and enjoyable? From the peashooter hyping to setting up Casey, you can see what Raph and Mikey’s relationship has been like all their lives. And it’s glorious. <3
  • Always being the one to give Mikey the hardest time when he’s goofed. And Mikey barely seems to notice it - it’s a perfect younger brothers dynamic, always bickering and hassling each other. But God help you if you try to mess with either one - the other will be there in an instant to shut that shit down!
  • His utter speechlessness when he beholds the battletruck for the first time.
  • Damn, he can’t stand still enough to even watch what’s going on! There’s a fight out there and he’s not a part of it? No. Nope. Nuh-uh. No way. Not acceptable! Can’t. handle. thisssss! He’s just up the back of the truck, pacing around, slapping around those punching bags Donnie carefully thought to install, his fists itching to meet Foot.
  • “Enough! It’s time to take out the trash.”  (。♥‿♥。)
  • And then. And then. And then.
    SQUEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!
    (♡´౪`♡)
    ♡〜٩( ╹▿╹ )۶〜♡
    Oh. My. Goooooooddddddddddddddddddddd!
This entire sequence is one of the most blessed and beautiful ever put to screen! Every second of it is an exquisite portrait of complete and total badassery the likes of which has rarely been witnessed before, an exhilarating demonstration of skill and might that combines in a glorious whole of raw eroticism that instantly destroys the panties of every girl, boy and non-binary individual who witnesses it. Let us bow our heads and give thanks for this blessing.
  • Restlessly playing baseball with Don in the lair. You can tell this has been going on for years - Donnie sits around tinkering on something, throwing a ball or whatever for Raph at frequent intervals to keep him distracted and moving. His bros know how to manage him!
  • “GET AWAY FROM HER!”  ♱♡‿♡♰
  • Macho stand-off with Casey. Who can be the most butch?
  • Um, no way fella. You are not getting ANY closer to April right now. This is none of your concern. Just back the fuck up.  {{swoon}}
  • Eyerolling at Mikey. It’s just cute.
  • Casually doing situps with legs hooked over a pipe fifteen feet in the air. AHHHHHHHHHHHHH! (♡ ὅ ◡ ὅ )ʃ♡
  • Giving Casey shit whilst squishing Mikey’s soccer ball. Yeah, he’s being a dick but… such a sexy dick.
  • It’s his idea to set Casey up and somehow that just makes it better. Love seeing Raph lightening up a little and being mischievous! Clearly, Mikey does too! XD
  • Chuckling and fistbumping Mikey when they’re successful. Raph. you should smile more. You’re so pretty when you smile.
  • Two words: BENCH. PRESS. Σ_( ♡ ཀ ♡」∠)_
  • All he REALLY hears is that Leo wants to keep a secret for him. Fuse is lit. Explosion imminent in 3…2…1…
  • Ooooh the look on his face as he determinedly strides towards his bro. shrugging Mikey off like a knat!
  • Hey Raph, that’s actually pretty cool and clever of you, confronting Leo with how his actions are not very bushido before you lose your shit.  You’re growing up and I’m proud of you!
  • “Where’s the honour in keeping secrets from your brothers?” This is a beautiful delivery, quiet and restrained and brimming with hurt barely concealed. And his expression! *heart aches*
  • It’s a recurring theme in the film that Raphael wants recognition and respect for who they are and what they’ve done. He makes his feelings strong and clear from the beginning - “we saved the city. We should be on the jumbotron, not in it”, “yeah, well, this arrangement has us sitting in the nosebleeds for the rest of our lives” - but does Raph actually want to be HUMAN? The exchange Leo and he have is instructive: “It’s not about what I like. It’s about what people up there are willing to accept!” oh, this is KEY. Raph loves being a turtle! This conflict of his is pretty common across all incarnations - Raph LOVES being a turtle but HATES not being accepted because of it.  At the heart of it, what Raph really wants is FREEDOM. The freedom to be who and what he is, to roam freely wherever he wants without being the target of prejudice. Unlike Mikey, who I think would embrace the opportunity to be human and live a human life and doubtless has fantasised about it a million times, Raph really wants just to be free. If the ooze is a means to that, then he’s willing to consider it. Regardless of whether it’s the ideal means or not.
  • “What about Mikey? He don’t get a vote?” I. freaking. LOVE. that! Because Raph just wants to be free. But he KNOWS exactly how MUCH this would mean to Mikey and it MATTERS to him. His bratty, annoying, pain-in-the-ass little bro who he constantly gives a hard time means the whole world to him. <3 <3 <3
  • Hot Head Temper Tantrum! stomp stomp stomp, fling, smash, kick!
  • Lying to April. I mean, it’s a terrible thing to do but goddamn, he’s really cute when he does it because he just really fucking sucks at it. And the Razzie goes to…
  • The look of sheer desperation when he’s all “ain’t that right Mikey?” Say I’m right, ohmigawd, pleeeeeeeease!
  • Shhiiiiit, Raph’s got blueprints and everything. He’s put hella thought into this plan! Nice work.
  • MACHO STAND OFF WITH CASEY! These are fun.
  • That “well?” look he gives Jones. Ooooohhhhh.
  • "The only plan I got so far… may be a tad less than appetising” - why is it so hilariously cute it’s Raph’s idea to rope Vern into all this?
  • Menacing Vern. Hee. XD
  • Every second of the police HQ break in is freakishly gold. From ignoring Mikey’s fistbump (jerk!) to being elbowed by Mikey, to being the amazing unwavering bridge for Mikey to sit on, to catching that card with HIS TONGUE (sqqqueeeeee) to being unable to fit through the vents is sheer adorable perfection. <3
  • Raphael on a mission is unstoppable - whatever the risk, he’s getting that ooze! Reckless, hot-headed, bullish and just a little crazy.  v( ♥ ڼ ♥ )v
  • That look of defeat when the cop calls them monsters. He didn’t expect any different, but all the same… it’s a shitty fucking thing to hear.
  • He can’t say anything when Leo confronts him about April. Because it’s true. And he didn’t think about that. And he doesn’t like thinking about it now.
  • “JUMP?” ooohhhhhhh my gooooodddddddddd I was NOT expecting any of this but goddamn it is next level cute. Raph is scared of jumping out of a plane! Big bad badass is practically soiling his ninja shorts at the thought of doing what his most nerdy brother did without a care in the world and has to call upon the spirit of Vin Diesel to overcome his fear! Too classic. ˉ̶̡̭̭ ( ´͈ ᗨ `͈ ) ˉ̶̡̭̭
  • Oh but it’s okay, he’s got an immediate opportunity to remind us all just how badass he is: “the good news is, you’re wearing chutes”. Yeah, posture a little more, Raph. I like the way your muscles ripple when you do. :)
  • Picking Rocksteady up and throwing him across the plane. All that benchpressing has been working for ya, buddy. XD
  • Catching Leo before he can be blown from the plane. <3
  • The adorableness of his sheer gleeful relief to be back on land. And those lips… (ˆ ڡ ˆ)
  • Leaping out of nowhere to save Donnie from that missile. NO ONE mmessed with his bros. (♡ ὅ ◡ ὅ )ʃ♡
  • His frustrated and hurt reaction to Leo’s sarcastic “thanks guys. AHHHHHHHH, Raph, Leo loves you, HE DOES!!!!! Seriously, for all Raph’s defiance of Leo and all his conflict, deep down he really wants Leo to approve of him. Because he admires his big bro.  Almost more than he can bear.
  • Of course he starts the fight. Oh, Raph.
  • When Raph takes a stand, he takes it BIG. I mean, he didn’t HAVE to chuck the ooze against the wall. He could’ve just put it down. He could’ve given it back to Donnie. He could’ve just said “naaaaaaah”. But no, he has to throw it against the wall, so there’s a big dramatic pause before it smashes everywhere.  Well, tell us how you really feel, Raph!
Seriously though, this wasn’t just a moment of melodrama - Raph’s destroying any possible temptation the ooze may present in the future. He’s taking the stand of staying with his bros, always and forever.
  • “Let’s just say we’re four brothers who hate bullies and love this city” - best. description. EVER. Splinter, can Raph get some belated credit for that line to make up for all those times he never finished his homework? It should count.
  • Cracking his knuckles at Vern.  ლ(´ڡ`ლ)
  • And it’s Raph who starts the hand stackk. awwwwwww. <3 His nature puts him into constant conflict with them, but really he yearns for unity with his brothers.
  • Yeah, he’s got this, Leo. Check it out. The surf is UP. XD
  • I love that it’s Raph who corrects Krang about their genus.  I don’t know why. I just think it’s great. XD Maybe because it’s such a common mistake that people make and you just KNOW that’s gonna be a major sore spot for Raph. hehehe.
  • “NOBODY… MESSES… ” they’re all there for their little bro and to hear the pure rage in Raph’s voice that someone dared try to hurt his pal Mikey just makes me squeal and roll around in adoring glee, because there is nothing that isn’t perfect about this family team and ultimately, no matter who lies, or who screws up, or who is super mega annoying, they’re all there for each other, without fail or hesitation and love each other madly. <3 <3 <3 <3
  • “Garbage truck!” Okay, that’s adorable. That’s literally the first thing he thought of when Leo said they have something no one else does, and he just throws his whole self into that cheer, YES, THE GARBAGE TRUCK ALL HAIL THE GARBAGE TRUCK WITHOUT IT THEY WOULD NEVER HAVE DEFEATED KRANG! Raph, you goober.
  • OOOOMMMMMGGGGGGG that totally unguarded smile of happiness and pride when he gets his key!! It’s so rare to see Raph without the touch of a scowl on his forehead, so precious to see him simply feel uncomplicated or unburdened pleasure and joy in something he has accomplished, to witness it be reognised and valued. These are the moments to treasure with Raph, the ones to drink in and savour, to commit to memory to reflect on with affection whenever he is once again hiding behind frowns and machismo. Don’t forget there’s a big, cuddly teddy bear under all that armour AND WE LOVE IT. ;)
  • EEEEEEEE LOOK how he slings his arms around Leo and Mikey up the top of Liberty for a big bro hug! He’s so full of love and happiness he can’t even help himself. And OMG he reaches for Leo FIRST SQUEEEEEEEEEE ヾ(◍ ♥ ౪ ♥ ◍)ノ゙♡
  • Raph is a thing of beauty and a joy forever in this movie. He reveals hidden fears no one would’ve guessed at, shows leadership skills in creating effective plans, manages to confront two stubborn jerks in subtly effective ways without just losing his temper, loses his temper and is adorably rageful about it, is a scary big brutish motherfucker and yet omg he’s so full of love and protectiveness for his bros and family, lets his playful side out and demonstrates he can be a master prankster even though he cannot lie to save his LIFE, is always watching out for his bros, questions and defies authority and yet can concede when he recognises it’s crucial (and he agrees with what’s going on!) and yes, he has huge fucking muscles and shows us just exactly what he’s able to do with them. And we’re all incredibly grateful. Raph, you’re a big, cuddly, incredibly violent teddy bear we all just want to smother in kisses and remind you a million times: yes, you are loved, yes, you are good, yes, this team FUCKING NEEDS YOU! And SO DO WE! <3 <3 <3 <<3
Trying to Understand Character HATE

With the reusurrgance of my BTVS obsession I must admit that I’m rather shocked at the amount of XANDER HATE I’ve come across.  Not so much here at Tumblr but on some other micro blog platforms and Buffy message boards. I mean to the point where I find it almost astounding.

I mean HATING on the character like he is SATAN or something lol….

I honestly don’t get it -  And I’m not just saying that because he’s my favorite .  Do  I have a bit of bias - maybe ( probably ) but I’m also very open to honestly and fairly critiquing things I enjoy.

Xander ( especially ) seasons 1 and 2 Xander can be a bit of a little arse at times - no argument here, none at all…

He’s prone to sulking and tantrums caused by his jealousy over Buffy, is mistrustful of Angel and most other boys to a extreme and often talks without thinking .  But he’s also very caring and brave and funny.  He consistently backs up his friends and helps them in their battles against darkness regardless of the danger, regardless of the fact that he’s the token human with no special SUPER power.  In short he was a FLAWED human being - At some times jerky and petulant, and other times very supportive and heroic -  Which is what makes him such a relatable character - He wasn’t perfect.

But I keep seeing massive amounts of hate for the character - Like he was so much worse than the others on the show - Statements such as sexist pig, misogynist, TOTAL ASSHOLE, total creep.

But really if we are looking honestly that is not the case. Sure he’s quite flawed just as I illustrated above but so are all the other characters on the show -

For much of season 1 Cordelia was actively malicious, a total bully - I rarely see people calling her vile.

Anya though she loved Xander deeply was in other ways quite  self absorbed and selfish.

Buffy though a great character strong and brave, did often come across as entitled, somewhat arrogant and whiny.

Willow abused magic and as a result caused quite severe damage because of it.

Angel and Spike - Though not supposed to be human - certainly had flaws and problematic behaviour as well…

Faith is a whole other ball game - a deeply wounded yet very violent and unstable character - Yet still someone I can empathize with and LIKE.

That’s not saying I don’t LOVE all these characters because I do - But like Xander they are flawed.  Which is what makes them interesting.

It seems like people have forgotten that the show was essentially about young people making their way in the world ( navigating the horror that is high school and adolescence ) - YOUNG people screwing up and learning, rising above their mistakes and moving on.  It was a show about being 16 ( not quite a kid , not a grown up ) how many of us at that age ( at any age really ) didn’t at times act thoughtlessly, hurt our friends, be upset and angry about being rejected by a crush.  We all did it  - doesn’t mean we are a_ _ holes - it means we are human

Also I think many of the haters are taking the show too LITERALLY.  It was meant to be campy and tongue in cheek.  For all it’s drama it was also a wry and smart commentary on the way people operate.  Xander’s character was comic relief guy in many ways, he was there to add  levity , to lighten things up to a degree. Nicholas Brendon rocked in this role and had fantastic comic timing.  It’s sad that people use the characters insight and wit against him.  Instead of looking it in the way in which it was meant they view it as him being flip and unfeeling /  That wasn’t the character at all - Xander was actually a deeply sensitive character , trying to hide his insecurities and feelings of inadequacy by hiding behind his humor.

It was a GREAT, original and smart  show and it makes me a little upset that people seem to be revisiting it ( or maybe it’s their first exposure to the show ) by ranting mostly  on one character and focusing all their ire and HATE on that one character …

That’s not saying you have LOVE him or even like the character - But at least try to understand him.  I have characters in the BTVS fandom I really rather dislike , but I see no point in discussing my dislike.  If I don’t find a character interesting or likable I know that there are people that do and my interpretation might be very different from theirs for whatever reason.  I’m all for freedom of speech but I see no benefit in expressing HATE in any fandom.

It just doesn’t make any sense to me….

Sorry for my RANT just had to get my feeling out there…

( This rant could also be applicable to the GOT fandom as well - We Jorah fans often  see ridicule and HATE in the Jorah tag )

In Appreciation of Sam Winchester

Sam Winchester is my absolute and ultimate favorite. In the following lines, I will try to explain why. I’m sure the ‘Reasons why I love Sam Winchester’ trope has been explored countless times already by different people. I just wanted to add my own personal reasons to theirs:

1. He is everyman. Sam is not above making mistakes, sometimes huge ones. He can be selfish, gullible, frustrating and hurtful, but his heart isalways in the right place. He is you and me, screwing up time and again, yet trying to do the right thing. And I’ll take a good man over a good hero any day.

2. His Faith is a thing of beauty. Sam believes in his brother, in God and angels, in humanity, in the inherent goodness of things with an almost childlike intensity. It doesn’t matter if he is often let down by the things he believes in. I find this unshakable faith to be highly inspiring in my times of despair.

3. He is the very opposite of weak. Who else on the show has demonstrated more psychological strength than the man who fought off and seized control from the Devil himself within his own mind? Who else endured nearly two centuries of unimaginable tortures in the Cage and still lived to fight the good fight? Sam Winchester has been put through the toughest sh*t for ten years on the show. He may complain sometimes but he has never said ‘I’m done’ in the spirit of giving up.

4. He chose action over destiny. Sam is ‘Free Will’ personified. He teaches you that you should be and do whatever you want, fate and predetermination be damned.

5. He is the awesomest little brother in the history of little brothers.Sam loves Dean, so much that he considers letting Dean down to be his biggest sin. The Winchesters’ codependence is legendary. So the prospect of losing his brother often drives Sam to some extreme measures. I mean, unleashing a primordial Darkness upon the world to remove Dean’s deadly tattoo? Come on Sammy. Then again, you can’t not respect that level of loyalty and devotion. Plus I love both the boys and can’t say mad at Sam for long.

6. He saves the day with his big brain. A man who’s simultaneously good with numbers, computers, languages, symbology, mythology, hunters’ lore, legal know-how, investigation, interrogation, ammunition, deductive reasoning, all-round trivia? I can’t even.
7. He kicks ass literally. He is the second best hunter on the planet. Dean Winchester says so. Gordon Walker felt so too.
8. He makes me laugh. Sam’s witticisms are not a dime a dozen. He doesn’t try too hard to be funny you know. But the things that come out of his mouth sometimes! In 5.21, when the rest of the group is busy arguing over the ramifications of Bobby pawning his soul off to Crowley, Sam remembers to ask the right question: ‘Did you kiss him?’ In 10.05, as Dean finishes relaying his aggravations about Destiel shipping in the school play, Sam once again shows us that he has his priorities right. Shouldn’t it be Deastiel and would CasDean be an acceptable alternative? Adorable! And I still can’t get over the Sampala.
9. He nails the lovemaking scenes real hard every single time. Pun not intended.
10. He needs all the love he can get from us. This big, strong hulk of a man can radiate such innocence and vulnerability sometimes that I just want to wrap him, or as much of him as I can, in a hug and never let go. Since the beginning of Season 8, he has hardly had the time to recover from one ordeal before another was dumped all over him. People keep on kicking him while he’s still down. Hope all our love and best wishes can help him have a better run this coming season.

So there you have it folks. 10 reasons why I love Sam Winchester. There are many more that didn’t make it into this list, but I’m glad I was able to highlight some of the more pressing ones. They say affection defies logic or reason. I sure had fun making this list though. I hope you enjoy reading it too.

guess what???? we ALL fuck up. we’re all rude and careless at times. we all hurt people and make bad impressions. we all alienate a few people. if you regret something you did, it means your principles & personality have developed since then. we all make mistakes. we’re all assholes sometimes. learn from it, forgive yourself, and move on.

Lol, friend, your blog is one of my absolute favourites because you don't dress it up in a happy perfect bow. When dealing with powerful things, don't screw around. You've never made me feel bad about anything, ever, merely cautious and it's so important to be cautious. Ignore the ones with their panties in a bunch and keep rocking!

Thanks, friend!
Cautious is good. Cautious is important. It saves people from making big mistakes.
If I say something mean unintentionally, I would feel bad if someone said they were hurt by it.
If I make posts that someone disagrees with and thus feels shit because I’m pointing out a different perspective, I have no guilt. That’s life. And it makes us better.

Self-Love A B C

You wanna learn how to love yourself more, but you don’t even know where to start? You want a tool that you can use to create healthier habits and develop a more stable ground to walk on? Use this “Self-Love A B C” on a daily base, and soon you’ll hopefully be able to make healthier decisions in your everyday life.

A: authenticity - the only person that has to be content with what you’re doing is you. Learning how to love yourself means practising to be yourself and be okay with the consequences of living an authentic life. Before making a decision, make sure you’re being you, and you’re not trying to please, impress or satisfy someone else.

B: body love - No matter if we’re just being too lazy or if it’s actually too tough because we are facing a depression relapse or another mentally challenging situation, the very basic acts of self-care and self love shouldn’t be something we postpone or put off. The tool “body love” is all about physical and emotional hygiene. Your body deserves to be taken care of. Brush your teeth, take a shower, floss, put on some lotion if your skin is dry, and do it gently! Treat yourself like you would treat your own child. Make sure not to physically or mentally abuse yourself - so no self-harm, skin picking, self-bullying or nasty self-talk! Don’t be your own worst enemy, make sure you’re being your own supporter instead of your worst critic!

C: cool calm collected - we live in a crazy, super fast paced world and sometimes it can be incredibly tough to be kind with ourselves, because we’re simply too stressed. This tool is meant as a reminder to slow down from time to time and work on being more mindful. Before making the decision what to eat, how to talk to yourself, what to do about a certain situation, take a break and a couple deep breaths. When we practise to be more mindful, we can fully explore every given moment and it gets easier to make healthy decisions.

D: drink that water (or tea :P) - a hydrated brain and body work better! It’s super important for your mental and physical health to drink enough water. 1.5l are enough, if you’re not working out. If you’re physically active, make sure to drink a bit more than that.

E: eat and nourish that lovely body of yours - Your body is a real miracle! And an incredibly precious gift. This awesome power machine not only deserve, it needs to be fuelled properly. It’s one of the biggest acts of self-love to forget about all the nutrition “rules and facts” you heard of and to learn how to listen to your body again and eat intuitively. If you pick the right food from with a radical self-loving mindset, it gets way way easier to make the right decisions. You want to honor your body and take care of your health, so you have the urge to eat healthy. Sometimes you wanna nourish the body, and sometimes the soul (or both at the same time!). Moderation is the key!

F: forgive yourself and others and fake it ‘till you make it! - You’re only human, and humans make mistakes. Often the worst thing about mistakes is not that we make them, it’s what making them makes us feel like. There is no point in beating yourself up for not being perfect! If you notice that you screwed up, forgive yourself, learn from it and move on. And allow yourself to be a beginner - fake it ‘till you make it! Also, try to forgive others! Holding grudges against people who hurt you in the past is only going to cause pain and heaviness in your own heart. Forgive them because you deserve a peace of mind!

G: gratitude - for me personally gratitude - next to mindfulness -  has always been the most important tool on my way to more self-acceptance and self-love. If you become more and more aware of how blessed you are, if you develop a more grateful mindset, life will feel a lot richer. You’ll be able to see your positive attributes and focus less on the things that don’t matter that much anyway.

We live in this world where we’re encouraged to give up on people. If someone hurts you, you say “screw you” and move on. It’s like everyone has forgotten that strong relationships are made when you go through those rough patches and make it out alive, when you decide that a person is more important to you than their flaws and their mistakes. I don’t understand how it’s actually an option for some people to completely erase someone out of their lives, push aside all the amazing memories, all the laughs, all the inside jokes, and go on as if the other person never existed. Personally, I never forget the way a person made me feel. Memories can fade away and the words that were said may get jumbled, but you never forget the way someone made you feel. The good feelings always override the bad ones.

What I believe

I feel like I’ve been too negative lately. And I think there’s a shortage of liberals clearly saying what they want and believe.

So here’s my manifesto, more or less. The rules for liberalism, as I practice it.

1. The Truth, Above All

If the facts tell you things you don’t want to hear, accept them. If it turns out that liberalism doesn’t work, stop being a liberal.

The truth is the biggest advantage you can ever have in politics over the long term. So don’t lie to yourself or to anyone else.

If you ever find yourself lying for your cause, denying scientific realities or trying to deceive people into supporting you, you’re probably on the wrong side.

2. The Best For Everyone

Every person matters. Don’t write anyone off as morally irrelevant. Foreigners, misfits, vagrants, criminals, political enemies…if you can make their lives better, do so.

This does not mean giving everyone everything they want. Many people want things that will hurt other people. Liberalism demands that you remember that those other people are people, and deserve your protection from the people who want to hurt them.

Remember, we’re all stuck on this world together.

3. Follow Your Own Rules

Human rights aren’t just for your friends. Laws aren’t just for your enemies.

Liberalism is here to let people of every religion and ideology live together. It’s here to reconcile nearly irreconcilable differences. For this to work at all, you need to obey your own rules even when they’re inconvenient.

Your enemies won’t always do the same for you in return, so make sure your rules aren’t crippling. But follow them. Every person who respects a rule strengthens it.

If you lose an election, and you have at your disposal enough power to overturn the result by force…don’t. Doing so will almost certainly make things worse.

4. Be Pragmatic

Compromises are not to be feared. They’re the way of the world.

Think capitalism is evil? Think taxation is theft? Fair enough. Liberals don’t have to be capitalist or statist. But they do have to respect the limitations of reality.

You do not have the strength to destroy everyone who disagrees with you. You need to be willing to negotiate with your enemies. Sometimes a mutually-acceptable compromise is impossible, sometimes violence is necessary, but always try for a nonviolent solution.

If you have radical ideas, by all means push for them. But don’t let the perfect be the enemy of the good, and be very reluctant to kill people. Remember that the future is uncertain, and nothing ever works smoothly on a grand scale.

5. When In Doubt, Be Kind

We all make mistakes. But if you’re humble, considerate, and slow to anger, you’ll screw up less and hurt people less when you do.

Don’t be a doormat. But do be kind, even to your enemies. Give the benefit of the doubt, don’t condemn people casually, and don’t indulge in cruelty.

Lately, I’ve been thinking a lot about the 1989 foreword, specially about that bit where she talks about how there’s a day marking our death and our birth, but what about the moments in between, the moments when we’re reborn? It’s such an interesting thought - it just happens to be the one that became the reason for my rebirth.

I turn 16 tomorrow and I’ve learned quite a few lessons at 15. I learned that it’s okay to not know who you are. It’s okay to be the only one in your group of friends who isn’t sure of where they’re going yet. It’s okay to be confused. You have time. Right now? I think the most important thing would be to maintain a balance between doing what you want and studying hard. I think right now it’s important to know that when you stand for something, never back down.

This year, I learned that I alone get to decide how I want my hair, how I want to dress, the kind of music I listen to, the T.V. shows I watch. I stopped letting people take over a life that isn’t theirs to take over. This year, when I got told I was ugly by the girls in school, I laughed and walked away. Because this year I realised that people are going to try to tear you down no matter what you do, and the key to success is to never give them the satisfaction of knowing they have.

I learned that ‘I love you’ doesn’t always mean ‘I’ll stay forever.’ Sometimes partners, friends, family - sometimes they leave. Sometimes ‘I love you’ is a lie. And that’s okay. You’ll only know it’s real when you’ve been lied to. You don’t need a boyfriend/girlfriend to define your worth. You don’t need a huge group of friends by your side to mean something. You are worth gold. Believe it.

Another thing I learned is that you’re going to hurt people you love, even if it’s unintentionally. You are going to betray people you care about- and you’re going to feel crappy about it. But I want you to remember that there is forgiveness for a reason, love for a purpose. We all make mistakes. We all screw up. But it is not our mistakes that define us, but what we do to overcome them, what we learn from them, how we never stop putting up a fight. ‘You are not your mistakes, you are a product of the lessons you’ve learned.

Life is beautiful, it’s magical - you are not alone in what you feel. There is happiness, it isn’t an illusion. Even if it’s just inside your head, why on earth should that mean it’s not real?

From the girl who said she’d never be okay without a blade, get over being bullied, believe in love or find happiness in a world this depressing,

Love, Ayesha.

In Appreciation of Sam Winchester

To give a little backstory for this post, I started watching Supernatural about eight months back on the recommendation of a friend. I was instantly hooked and haven’t looked back. I have consumed all 218 episodes of the show since then. It will be an understatement to say that I am a fan. I am freaking crazy about the series, and everything in it. But Sam Winchester is my absolute and ultimate favourite.

He can be selfish, gullible, frustrating and hurtful, but his heart is always in the right place.

4. He chose action over destiny. Sam is ‘Free Will’ personified. He teaches you that you should be and do whatever you want, fate and predetermination be damned.

5. He is the awesomest little brother in the history of little brothers. Sam loves Dean, so much that he considers letting Dean down to be his biggest sin.

7. He kicks ass literally. He is the second best hunter on the planet. Dean Winchester says so. Gordon Walker felt so too.
