they look like they could actually be her kids

anonymous asked:

from the last panel of the latest chapter, it looks like something is happening to deku and honestly? im hoping that she rewinds his time to when he was a kid... mostly coz could u imagine the cute scenarios? but rly im hoping she gets saved and taken to UA till they figure out how her powers work and if so it'd tie in nicely with a school arc

Oh my god…. de-aging shenanigans, I want that if there’s a cure for it! Don’t want them to stay as little kids forever :P

On that note, what if Eri is actually passively using the Quirk on herself all this time, stopping her aging. She’s actually older?

SPEAKING of Dad Might and Toshinko fluff, here’s some absolutely excellent headcanoning on the topic courtesy of @homebeccer and @ghostfiish

After Izuku moves into the dorms, All Might makes a point of coming to visit Inko with updates on her son. He knows how worried she is and how lonely she must be without Izuku so he tries his best to be good company and put her mind at ease.

For the most part this happens while Izuku is physically at UA, so he witnesses none of it. One weekend when Izuku goes home he invites Ochako over for dinner. Meanwhile Inko has done the same with All Might, who’s now entirely comfortable and casual in the Midoriya household, helping cook and chatting with Inko. Ochako watches this unfold like, “Uh Deku…Is All Might like…your dad now?” And Izuku is completely shocked like “Haha what no?? He’s just my mentor.”

Meanwhole All Might an Inko are clearly flirting.

Then Ochako leaves for the night and Izuku lapses into existential crisis mode because “…..shit……she totally has a point….he’s so casual here what is he now?” And Izuku picks up on all these small changes in the house just “Why is there an extra futon here? Whose toothbrush is this? Where did all these large shirts come from? There’s so much All Might merch around and it’s not my All Might merch who bought these?” And All Might pops his head in like, “Oh yeah, I get my own All Might merch for free.” And Izuku’s just….screaming inside.

Break rolls around and Izuku packs a suitcase to head home for two weeks. Walks in the front door and All Might is standing in the kitchen with a chef’s hat on baking. Izuku wanders in in a complete daze, All Might acting like this is totally normal as he pulls out bowls and spatulas while Izuku starts muttering, “Why are you…. here all the time…??? how do you remember where all the kitchen tools are when I don’t…???” and he glances at the partially-frosted cake on the counter, “Why are you making a cake that says ‘Welcome home son’????” And All Might starts blushing furiously like, “Well I was finishing this for your MOTHER.”

School resumes and all the Class 1-A kids are walking to class. They pass by the school grounds entrance and suddenly Inko is there running toward the main building. Bakugou notices first like, “Hey Deku, isn’t that your fucking mom over there?” Izuku turns, startled, and intercepts her thinking it’s got to have something to do with him. She just kinda blinks at him when he asks what’s wrong and says, “Uh actually… Toshinori forgot his lesson plans at home… Could you give this to him?“ Ochako, Iida, and Bakugou who are all listening internally go “Who tf is Toshinori…?” Until they all walk into class and Izuku sheepishly hands the papers off to All Might and the rest of the kids just “!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!”

During class break Iida and Ochako look at each other like "ALL MIGHT WAS IZUKU’S DAD” They turn to izuku with gaping mouths like ‘ALL ALONG???’
Izuku flails a bit. 'I DIDNT - HES NOT - THIS!…”
“HOW LONG HAVE THEY BEEN DATING”
Izuku, still sputtering, “THEY AREN’T??? DATING????”
Iida nods like he understands and says “Well of course not Izuku. Why would they go on dates when they’re already married?’
Ochako answers “Not true my parents still go out sometimes.”
Izuku “WHY AR E WE DEBATING THIS”

They just keep having a conversation without Izuku. Izuku instead passes out against the wall muttering. Iida and Ochako finally notice. “Should we call his parent?” “Which one?”

They’ve got a class trip coming up and after lunch Aizawa hands out permission slips. Izuku’s is already signed with an enormous ALL MIGHT signature.

Since everyone seems to know now, it’s go big or go home.

Olivia Puckett as Zoe Murphy

Here, I’m gonna analyze and describe Olivia Puckett’s performance as Zoe Murphy, and the ways in which it differed from Laura Dreyfuss’s. Enjoy!

First of all, Olivia Puckett is a blessing to us all. I love her so much (have you seen her Instagram stories?!) you all have no idea. She was so sweet, so good.

I’ll start from the beginning. Instantly, right as she entered during “Anybody Have a Map” her differences with Laura Dreyfuss were evident. She slouched in her chair, her foot giggling under the table. Also, with Connor, her dialogue was lighter, in a way. She delivered the “He’s definitely high” line almost jokingly, like she was just this younger sister poking fun at her brother. It wasn’t disapproving and harsh the way Laura’s delivery felt.

Even while they were exchanging “Fuck you’s!” they seemed more like siblings messing around than two extremely damaged teenagers taking out their anger on each other. It honestly felt like a normal sibling relationship. She wasn’t even yelling, and neither was Mike Faist. It wasn’t mean or anything. It was. Good.

Even when she marched off the stage, proclaiming that she’d leave without Connor if he doesn’t spead up, I felt as though she wouldn’t leave without him. Like that was yet another joke. No big deal. Like she’d wait in the driveway for him to come, and maybe give him a bit of a hard time about it all later, but that they’d laugh about it next week or something.

Then, she met Evan. She rushed over to him in the middle of WTAW, and he instantly recoiled, his shoulders turning inwards, his eyes on the ground, his hands twitching. She seemed genuinely concerned. Her voice was low, and she seemed to purposefully stay away from him, almost fearful of scaring him, while simultaneously wanting to be closer.

When she called Connor “a psychopath,” it sounded like she was angry with Connor for pushing Evan, who obviously didn’t deserve anything, but wasn’t disgusted or hateful. She didn’t sound like she hated Connor. Or even really disliked him. Just has a stereotypical teenage sibling relationship that’s a bit edgy.

When she walked away– “Okay…Jose…” –she turned around and looked back at Evan before leaving, almost fondly. It almost gave me the impression that this crush was requited, and perhaps had been for some time. That Evan’s love for Zoe wasn’t one-sided, that Zoe didn’t grow into liking Evan throughout the musical, but actually, in fact, liked him before it even began.

She entered, again, before “For Forever” and I could see a physical change that occurred in her during the 10 minutes or so she was off-stage. I could almost see her lose Connor, in that entrance. As she noticed Evan’s presence, she didn’t ask “Why is he here” like “Why is this weird kid in our house” but more like “Why is Evan, who I talked to in the hallway a few days ago, here?

Throughout the dinner before “For Forever,” she did this leg jiggle again. Which was. So fascinating. She had these particular ticks, ones which almost mirrored Evan’s. They seemed like two pieces of the same pie, in their own peculiar way. Simply, if Olivia Puckett announces one day that Zoe Murphy has a minor anxiety disorder, I would believe her in a heartbeat.

When she retorted about good times with Connor, saying that “There were no good times!” she didn’t sound like a possibly abused sibling. She sounded almost angry with herself, as though she was wondering why she didn’t notice something was wrong with Connor, as though she wished she’d tried harder. She didn’t sound like someone who was wronged and was furious, she sounded like someone who was remembering her entire childhood and trying to pinpoint where everything went wrong.

Laura’s Zoe seemed like a young person who suddenly lost control over seemingly everything in her life, someone who was almost drowning. Olivia’s Zoe seemed like a young person who had just temporarily misplaced control, someone who was floating just above the water’s surface.

During “Requiem,” Olivia cried, actually cried, which is something Laura definitely did not do.

The whole “You were not the monster that I knew” thing was much less believable. But the “You’ve given me my brother back. Thank you.” thing at the end of “You Will Be Found” was so. much. more. believable.

I really felt for Olivia’s Zoe. “Requiem” was when I started crying fully during this performance, rather than during “You Will Be Found” (which normally what gets me). I felt her loss so deeply and profoundly, like she was taking the whole audience on this journey with her.

She truly seemed to mourn Connor, to have loved her brother. She seemed so devastated during “If I Could Tell Her” that she never got to tell Connor what she thought.

It was just a different kind of loss.

As well, her relationship with Evan was so vastly different. She seemed to be more interested in him specifically and less interested in his connection with her brother. At the end of “You Will Be Found” when she kissed Evan the second time, she kept a hand on his when he pulled away. When he kissed her back, she wrapped her arms around him and like hug-kissed him. In the boot, with Laura Dreyfuss, Evan leaned Zoe into her back on the bed.

The opposite happened here, with Zoe really taking control of their kissing, pushing Evan into the bed.

Also, during “Only Us” she put a hand on either side of Evan’s face and held him so softly when she sang “We can’t compete with all that” rather than motioning with one hand (see: Laura and Ben’s performance of “Only Us” on Seth Meyers). There was a part where she sat on Evan’s bed and Evan kneeled before her, and she held both of his hands between hers.

They held hands whenever they were together after that, honestly. During “Only Us,” Zoe normally kisses Evan once, at the very end of the song. Here, Olivia kissed Ben three (3) times. Twice while singing and once at the end of the song.

I cannot over-exaggerate the softness in her eyes when she looked at him. In all honestly, y’all, I felt myself really loving their relationship, which isn’t something I did beforehand.

With Laura’s Zoe, I never would recommend Zoe and Evan being together for their own health. With Olivia’s Zoe, if they had met under different circumstances, if Evan hadn’t lied, I firmly believe that they could’ve had a healthy and happy relationship.

And the kegger skit!!! OMG!! She did the same dorky voice that Evan did with “til your mom gets home” when she said “in three hours!!” and they laughed. They laughed a lot.

It was so interesting to see almost Ben’s reactions as an actor to what Olivia was giving him. This was only the second time they’d ever done the show together in those characters, and it must’ve been so unusual to what he had been doing for the past hundred or so performances.

Zoe was so sweet? And? So strong? And never once mean to Evan? With Olivia, the whole “you don’t have to keep saying sorry….I was a little impressed, you ruined it” thing wasn’t as weird? It didn’t feel uncomfortable. It felt like: Zoe liked soft Evan, who apologizes all the time, she just wanted him to be comfortable enough around her to not feel like he had to apologize, rather than wanting him to change.

She felt like a young girl, who had suffered an immense loss, who was coping as best as she possibly could. She wasn’t some semi-popular girl who Evan liked purely because he thought she was hot (neither, of course, is Laura’s Zoe, or any form of Zoe, in fact). She was a multi-dimensional person who existed in her own right outside of anyone else. There was no room to see her as anyone else.

When she found out about Evan’s lie, it was almost more devastating.

I would have believed her if she had said she loved Evan.

Laura’s Zoe was angry and possibly depressed. She was desperate to grab a hold onto anything in her life, her life which was quickly spiraling out of control before her eyes. There, Evan seemed like the perfect person to grab onto, someone that was malleable and almost willing to be controlled.

Olivia’s Zoe felt in-control, like she knew what she was doing and knew where she would be in ten years, she just wasn’t there quite yet.

She obviously loved Connor and was mourning his death, but there didn’t seem to be as much guilt involved.

In her final scene, where she met Evan at the orchard, she, like Evan, seemed to have also gone through a metamorphosis. She seemed to have grown so much, and she held her head higher, too, just like Evan. To me, Zoe is a lead character, sharing the female lead title with Heidi Hansen, rather than a supporting character.

I love Laura Dreyfuss with my entire heart and soul, and her Zoe was a very particular character as well. It’s hard to pinpoint the exact differences between her Zoe and Olivia’s Zoe, because they are both truly incredible. Both woman are powerhouses of whom I will forever be in awe. Both portrayals make Zoe a fascinating, dynamic, complex, female character, one that is much, much more than a love interest or plot point. She, in some aspects, feels like the beating heart of the show. It’s hard to put my connection with her into words.

Again, like I said with Michael Lee Brown’s Jared vs. Will Roland’s Jared, neither performance was better. Both are heart-wrenching and powerful and conveyed a message to the audience, reached out and grabbed our hearts in their hands. Both are incredible. Just very, very different.

Essentially, Olivia Puckett’s performance was incredible. Unbelievable actually. Any desire to not want to see the understudies is pointless and wrong, let me tell you. This entire cast and entire crew are the most talented people I’ve ever seen.

Summary: Remember that girl? Who didnt believe Tom was Spidey? Yeah? Well she sure as hell does now.

Tom sighed as he slammed his temporary locker shut before slinging his backpack over his shoulder and stalking off. He couldn’t wait for this day to be over,  it would be his last time setting foot in this school. The last time he’d be publicly embarrassed in front of at least thirty science wiz kids. He’d finally be free.

It had been a joke when he suggested to Marvel that he spend sometime in a High School, since he was British and had no clue how High Schools worked. Apparently Marvel thought that it would be a good idea and so three weeks  later the British actor found himself outside the Bronx School of Science with a fake name,a  backpack and a pencil case.

His time at the school hadn’t been a complete nightmare. There was this one girl, who coincidentally was in all of the classes Tom had to attend. She had these, mesmerising (eye colour) eyes that complimented her soft (skin colour) skin, along with a smile that could light up an entire room. She was incredibly sweet and so smart that Tom would’ve been lying if he said that it wasn’t a turn on. Tom had remembered her name to be (Y/N) and he’d heard that she’d been practically guaranteed a place at Harvard University in the future.

The bell rung above the young actors head, signalling  the final period of the day. With a huff Tom made his way to class, praying that  time would pass quickly.

Tom couldn’t help himself from staring she was just so… beautiful. He was transfixed with the way  she bit her bottom lip as she concentrated on solving the equation written out on the board. The way her hair would fall over her face as she worked, and how she would constantly have to brush behind her ears to prevent the luscious (hair colour) locks from obstructing her vision.

God, she was perfect.

Tom rested his face in the palms of his hands, his elbows resting on the desk for support. He gazed at her dreamily, wondering what’d be like to kiss those pretty pink lips, he bet they were soft and tasted of vanilla. He wondered what it’d be like to spend a Sunday afternoon with her, cuddling up in tons of blankets. He wondered-

“Mr Wilson, are you with us?”

At first Tom didn’t respond, still not used to being called by his fake name.  The professor standing at the head of the classroom called out again, attempting to gain Tom’s attention. All the while is brown hues were kept trained on her. “Sam Wilson?”

It wasn’t until she had turned her head to stare at Tom curiously that he realised he was been called. Sam Wilson. How ironic, marvel seriously couldn’t think of a better fake name.  He swore Anthony Mackey hated him anyways. Tom shook his head quickly, breaking out of his reverie and turning his attention to the teacher. “Ah-uh-um…y-yes sir?” Tom replied with a stammer, crumbling under the pressure of her intrigued gaze.

(Y/N) had her head turned to face the boy, an eyebrow quirked with interest. A smirk played at her pink lips as she eyed Tom, a mischievous glint in her       (eye colour) eyes. “Do you know the answer Mr Wilson?”

Tom’s head immediately snapped in the direction of the teacher’s voice, he glanced down at his worksheet only to see it completely blank. Damn physics. Damn (Y/N) for being so god damn attractive. And distracting. He looked back up at the teacher and shook his head with a blush, feeling 30 pairs of eyes trained on him. “Maybe if he stopped staring at (L/N) like that, he’d actually be able to get something right!”  A kid called out, sending the class intro streams of laughter.

Tom bowed his head, slightly embarrassed. Out of his peripheral vision, he could see the (hair coloured) girl, turn away from him to flip off the other student. “Why don’t you shut up Alexander?” She snapped fiercely. “Let him stare! At least he knows he’s good enough to get some”.

The class was sent into fits of laughter, as Alexander ducked his head. (Y/N) turned back to look at Tom, a grin gracing her supple lips as she winked at him, he only nodded sheepishly in response before her attention was stolen by the teacher, who was attempting to silence the class.

After a few minutes of the teacher blabbing on about half-lives and the life cycle of a star, (Y/N) turned to face the British boy sitting next to her, doodling in his notebook. “Hey man” she called out, gaining Tom’s attention, their eyes met and she could see that Tom’s brown hues had a hit of nervousness in them. “What’s your deal?”

Tom’s mouth opened and closed like a fish out of water. This was the first time that she had talked to him directly and being the stupid teenage boy he was, Tom desperately wanted her to like him. He could make up some kind of lie? But then that would totally backfire on him since he’s a terrible liar. He could also tell the truth? I mean who wouldn’t find playing spiderman awesome? Not to mention the fact that honesty is the best policy.

“You wanna know what my secret is?” Tom blurted out before his brain could catch up. The girl beside him, only nodded. The boy sighed, before looking her directly in the eye. “I’m Spiderman”

Silence.

“My name isn’t Sam Wilson, it’s actually Tom Holland” the boy continued, in hopes of impressing the intelligent girl beside him. He quickly dropped the fake American accent to continue. “I’m British and I’ve been sent here undercover by Marvel for the past 3 days”

(Y/N) eyed him with a curious look before bursting out into fits of giggles, Tom watched her incredulously. She sure was gorgeous when she laughed, the way her smile reached her eyes where they would crinkle at the corner and- But she didn’t believe him?

“You’re-ha-so…funny!” The girl said between hushed giggles, leaning on the palm of her hand, smiling at Tom. He shook his head, a blush rising on his cheeks as the bell rung, signalling the end of class. (Y/N) briefly looked up, before leaning over her desk to wink at Tom.

She stood, picking up her bag and packing away her belongings before slinging the bag over her shoulder. Tom mimicked her actions, now standing opposite her awkwardly. “You’re a great lab partner” she said, grinning at him.

“T-thanks”. Tom stuttered “you are too”

She smiled, looking down at her feet. With a blush she looked up at Tom, moving to walk out of the class room as it cleared up. “I hope you have a nice weekend, ‘Tom Holland” she whispered sweetly, air quoting ‘Tom Holland’. “I’ll see ya on Monday? Yeah?”

Tom smiled at her sadly. “Yeah Monday…”

(Y/N) smiled as she stepped off the plane in Atlanta. The warm breeze, weaved its way through her lose (hair coloured) locks, causing it to gently sway in the breeze. She happily hopped down the steps , excited at the thought of exploring the state.

It was to be (Y/N)’s first time in Atlanta and she would be visiting her favourite person in the whole world. Her cousin, Laura Harrier.

(Y/N) and Laura had been extremely close since they were young, they did everything together and were practically like sisters. Although there were a good  six years between the two girls, they were almost identically alike.

The girl patiently waited for her luggage at the conveyer belt, her mind absently drifting of all the things she could do and explore in Atlanta. Her flower patterned suitcase went round the conveyer belt around at least five times before it was taken off by someone near by.

“I believe this belongs to you madam” the voice called out, grasping hold of the girl’s attention. (Y/N) turned, her (hair colour) locks bouncing as she did so. As she did, she was met with the beaming and radiant face of her cousin, Laura. The two girls squealed as they pulled each other on for a long and comforting hug. When they pulled away, Laura held her younger cousin at arms length, before giving her a twirl, causing the young girl’s sun dress to spin around with her.

“Laura!” (Y/N) chirped, quickly hugging her cousin again. “It’s so good to see you! I missed you so much!”

The older brunette, held her cousin at arms length, admiring her features. “I’ve missed you too! Look at how much you’ve grown!” Laura gushed, smiling down at her shorter relative. (Y/N) pouted playfully, softly smacking Laura on her arm.

“You make me sound like a baby” (Y/N) whined in a playful manner. Laura laughed at her, a mischievous glint in her brown doe eyes.

“That’s because you are a baby

“I’m only six years younger than you”

Laura smirked, wiggling her eyebrows teasingly. “Exactly”

The pair begun to walk out of the airport, sunglasses pulled down over their eyes avoid the paparazzi. They managed to make their way to Laura’s sleek black car, where her driver loaded in the luggage and opened the door for the pair. “So I was thinking-” the twenty seven year old actress begun. “That we grab a bite to eat at this adorable little corner cafe downtown before we drop your bags off at the hotel and-”

“Sounds like you’ve got this all planned out” the (hair colour) girl grinned, an eyebrow quirked at her cousin. Laura rolled her eyes in response, before digging in her purse as her phone rung. She gave (Y/N) an apologetic smile, before answering the call with a hushed whisper. The younger cousin let out a hushed laugh, looking out the window as she did so, admiring the streets of the state she’d never been to before. The sun reflected of the roofs of cars, creating a glare with an array of colours. The sky was as clear as day, only small fragments of clouds dotting the pale blue abyss or disappearing into small wisps of white.

“Sorry about that” Laura’s voice pulled the younger girl out of her thoughts . “Tom managed to mess up a scene at the studio and they want me to come in to shoot it again”

Wait?” (Y/N) called out in shock, causing the driver to hit the breaks.  The pair of cousins were launched forward by the force, almost colliding with the backs of the chairs. “Scene? as in movie scene?

Laura laughed, slapping her cousin on the leg. “Well duh? I’m an actress! Silly!”

“I know that!” (Y/N) exclaimed, an expression of shock displayed on her soft features. “But you got a new role! Congratulations girl!”

The older brunette blushed bashfully, smiling a bit. The driver revved up the engine, moving along with the traffic and making a left for the studios. “I was going to surprise you, since you’re such a big marvel fan…”

Laura trailed off, winking at her cousin. (Y/N)’s jaw dropped, her (eye colour) doe eyes widening. This only meant one thing. “You’re in a Marvel movie?!”

It took all of the young woman’s will power not to scream in the car. All the while her older cousin and best friend sat there grinning. The younger cousin waved her hands about excitedly, having been a fan of the comics all her life and having a cousin in the newest movie was a big deal to her. She was proud of her cousin and was so excited to see how she would perform. Although (Y/N) was never really into the movies, she’d definitely be seeing this one in support of her elder cousin. “Yes! This is crazy right?” Laura gushed, grasping her cousin’s hands.

“So crazy!” (Y/N) grinned. “This is all so exciting!”

“Just wait until you meet the cast” the twenty-seven year old actress stated, absentmindedly, leaning over to point the driver in the right direction.

“The cast?!”

Let’s just say, (Y/N) almost deafened Laura and the driver.

After dropping off (Y/N)’s luggage at Laura’s trailer, the pair headed over to the lunch trailer to grab something to eat. The two cousins made their way up the steps together, Laura was chatting excitedly about the friends she had made a few months into shooting whilst her younger cousin absentmindedly day dreamed. She was about to meet the cast of a marvel movie. Right on the other side of the door could be stars like Robert Downey junior, or even Chris Evans!

They made their way through the door, opening it up to find an arguing  group of actors and actresses roughly their age. “One hundred percent Gryffindor student!” A male voice called out, as if his opinion wasn’t obvious enough. “I mean who’s gonna go 'Yeah I wanna be in Hufflepuff!’”

“A lot of people actually” a female voice interjected. “Eddie Redmayne in fact.”

(Y/N) rolled your eyes at the conversation. Any Harry Potter fan would know that Hufflepuff was J.K Rowling’s favourite house.  She looked to Laura who was already shaking her head with a knowing look. “I know what you’re thinking, and honestly they’re not that bad. Not everyone is a Harry Potter nerd like you” the older woman chuckled. (Y/N) grinned, taking hold of her cousin’s hand before heading further into the trailer. The pair headed straight for the snack table, gaining the attention of the cast.

“Hey guys!” Laura chirped, causing heads to turn in her direction. Three pairs of eyes connected with the two cousins.

Laura!” The group chorused, attacking her with hugs.

“What are you doing back here girl?” A voice she recognised to be Zendaya’s, questioned. “I thought you had the rest of the day off.

I did“ Laura giggled, with a smirk, her gaze drifting lazily over to a brunette haired male. “But someone, managed to mess up a scene. So I had to come back”

Of course” Zendaya laughed, her hair bouncing around as she playfully shook her head. Her brown eyes shifted to the figure standing behind the twenty-seven year old. “And who’s this cutie?”

At this point everyone had gathered by the table. Laura stepped aside, revealing her cousin to her friends. “Everyone, this is my younger cousin, (Y/N)”  Laura babbled sweetly. “She’s visiting from the Bronx!”

“Hey everyone” she whispered shyly.

As soon as the name was uttered, Tom’s eyes flickered up. That was a  name he hadn’t heard for years. He was certain that he’d misheard his co-star. As far as he was concerned, he’d seen the last of that girl after his time in high school. One of Tom’s biggest regrets was not giving her his number. If he had a pound for every time he’d thought of her, he’d be filthy rich, or even more.

The British actor swallowed the lump in his throat as he watched Laura and her  younger cousin make rounds, meeting everyone. She’d already met Zendaya, and was now talking with Jacob. 'This couldn’t be her, no way.’ He thought, it was highly unlikely, it was virtually impossible, it was-

You?!” She shrieked, her (eye colour) doe eyes widening as she dropped her bag. Tom’s mouth dropped open. It really was her.

(Y/N) (L/N). The girl he constantly thought about for the last 3 years. All the while, the three remaining actors eyed the pair curiously.

“Do you two…know each other?” Jacob asked. A small blush rose on Tom’s cheeks as he tried to make eye contact with the girl opposite him. He noticed how her eyebrows were still raised in shock and how her eyes shined with recognition.

“Yeah…” (Y/N) spoke cautiously, reaching down to pick up her bag, sadness etched into her voice “Sam went to my high school for about three days, he disappeared and I never saw him again.”

Zendaya, Laura and Jacob eyed each other weirdly, before looking back at the confused pair. “Sam?” Zendaya laughed. “That’s Tom sweet cheeks”

Tom grimaced, as (Y/N)’s expression twisted from one of shock to one of confusion. The atmosphere was tense, you could cut the tension with a knife in there. A small, pink blush dusted her cheeks, as she tried to piece together the situation. “But I-but-he-we”

So this was the girl Tom talked about in his interviews” Jacob teased with a wink. “The pretty girl who didn’t believe he was Spidey, the one who called him crazy?”

Laura looked at (Y/N), shocked. “You’re that girl?”

(Y/N) stood opposite Tom, blushing hard. She had no idea what was going on, or how to wrap her head around the situation. Sam was Tom. Tom was Sam. There was no Sam. The cute nerdy boy from her physics class was Tom Holland. The Tom Holland. An actor.

Before anyone had a chance to speak, a stage hand came in to ask for the young actors. Laura was needed in hair and makeup so she could re-shoot her scene. Zendaya and Jacob were also needed as they had a couple lines in the scene. Tom had to reshoot his part a bit later as he had to put on the suit.

“Make sure she doesn’t die!” Laura called out as she left, causing both Jacob and Zendaya  to laugh out loud. They soon exited , leaving Tom and (Y/N) alone. Since it was a nice day out, Tom offered to take the younger girl on a tour of the sets. They explored the prop rooms and costume areas, they also talked about the movie. Tom did is best to make sure he didn’t tell (Y/N) any spoilers. He loved seeing how her eyes lit up as they walked between sets and admired different props. He loved the way her small fingers trailed over the costumes carefully, as if she was afraid to damage them.

Suddenly, the weather changed from sunny to dark and dreary. The grey clouds chucking down buckets of rain. The pair growing cold and soaked, ran quickly back to Tom’s trailer to seek shelter. Once inside, they shed their jackets that clung to their skin and Tom quickly changed his shirt (not that (Y/N) minded, she liked the way Tom’s abs looked). He timidly offered (Y/N) a spare shirt of his own and was waiting for her to come out of the bathroom.

The girl stepped out of the cramped space, her now wet clothes folded into a neat pile as she let Tom’s white shirt flow over her body. Her bare feet padded over the carpeted floor, as she made her way to Tom’s leather couch on the far side of his trailer.

He was scrolling through his phone, replying to fan’s tweets and liking Instagram fan art. He barely noticed (Y/N) sitting down beside him. She drew her knees up to her chest, resting her arms on them before propping her chin up. The       (skin toned) girl coughed lightly, capturing Tom’s attention.

“So, Monday huh?” She whispered, with a light chuckle, remembering their last conversation. At this point, Tom had slipped his phone into his back pocket.

“Yeah...Monday

They both laughed, it was almost as if they were reliving the conversation. There was a silence that swept over the pair, the only sounds coming from the rain beating on the roof of the trailer. “You know, I didn’t think I’d ever see you again” Tom spoke after a little while. (Y/N) looked up at him, taking in his soaked and adorable appearance. The way his hair fell over his soft brown eyes. God he was cute.

She let out a small laugh. “Don’t you think I should be the one saying that?” Tom let a small smile grace his lips as she talked. “I mean, I was looking forward to seeing you that next Monday, I came back to find out you had gone, gotta say, I was heart broken. Mr Wilson

Tom laughed at his fake name, before shifting fully to face her . “I’m sorry I left without saying goodbye”

“You better be sorry” (Y/N) scolded playfully, slyly grinning at the young actor. “I had just worked up the courage to ask you out, I really liked you, y'know?”

It was Tom’s turn to be surprised, he couldn’t believe the girl he was crushing on liked him back. “Y-y-yo-you liked me?” He stuttered, his hand reaching to rub the back of his neck . (Y/N) nodded bashfully, smiling at Tom.

“Don’t think I didn’t notice the way you stared at me, I thought it was cute!”

Tom couldn’t help but hide his face in a pillow, when (Y/N) laughed at his cuteness he chucked the cushion at her, hitting her square in the face. She squealed, trying to push herself away from him as the British boy launched himself at her, his fingers attacking her sides.

“Puh-pah-please Tom!” She begged between breathless giggles as he tickled her some more. Eventually, when her laughs turned to wheezes, Tom ceased his tickling. It was only then that they realised the position they were in, her back was to the sofa and Tom was laying between her legs, their faces pressed close and his hands by her sides.

(Y/N) looked Tom directly in the eyes, admiring the little flecks of black in his brown hues. “I can’t believe I didn’t notice that you were actually Tom Holland”

Tom smiled gently. “And I can’t believe I didn’t ask you  out sooner”

(Y/N) noticed how the air in the room had become scarce, and how hot her body felt pressed up beneath Tom’s. She thought back to how hard she’d been crushing on him during her senior year and how much she’d thought about letting him get away. Even after all these years, her feelings for him were still strong. She let her (eye colour) hues flick between his own and his lips.

At the same time, Tom thought about all the months he regretted not trying to stay in contact, he thought about all the times he wished she could’ve been his. And here she was, wrapped up in his arms, close to him. Before the British actor could even process what he was doing, his eyes had fluttered closed and he was pressing his lips to hers.

The kiss was sweet and full of so many unspoken emotions. The girls soft lips melded perfectly with Tom’s as they captured one another. (Y/N) let her small hands travel to the nape of the boy’s neck, her fingers twisting in the small hairs that resided there. The British actor snaked his hands around her waist, pulling her closer. The bare skin of her smooth thighs creating a burn on his arms as he lifted her. When they pulled away, (Y/N)’s eyes were still closed. Tom grinned, pressing a small kiss to her nose, causing her to open them. She smiled up at him.

“Wow” she breathed, causing the man above her to nod in agreement. “I guess we better thank Marvel, for sending you to my school or otherwise this wouldn’t have happened”

Tom gave the girl in his arms a toothy smile as she lazily gazed up at  him, her soft fingers tracing patterns on the bare skin of his arms. “And I guess I have a new story to tell in my interviews”

“You do?”  She smirked. “What’s it about?”

“It’s about how I get the girl that didn’t believe me and how head over heels I am for her” Tom murmured, leaning in for another kiss. (Y/N) sighed, contented.

“Is that your way of asking me out Mr Holland?” (Y/N) teased causing the actor to roll his eyes.

“And  what if it was? What would you say?”

The young girl pretended to ponder for a second, before leaning up to Tom’s ear. “I’d say, 'you’re nuts dude’” she whispered “do you know what I’d say next?”

“What would you say next?” The brunette boy whispered back, leaning down, so that their lips were almost touching.

“I’d say…hell yes”

For @fangirl0170…reader works for NCIS as requested. Enjoy!

Y/N strolled into the lab, slightly late. She snagged her lab coat and threw it on. She looked up to be greeted by her co-worker as well as her father.

“Sorry I’m late,” she apologized.
“What?” Gibbs asked, “Sleep through the alarm?”
She smirked. “More like I beat the alarm and lost track of time.”

Gibbs smirked before he turned back to Abby. She cocked a brow before turning back to her monitor. She clicked her screen a few times.

“Like I was saying, the blood residue on the windshield doesn’t match the blood on the seat,” Abby explained.
“So, we have a missing body,” Gibbs deduced, “Thanks Abbs.”

He pressed a kiss to her temple. She grinned before he handed her a caf-pow. Smirking, he gave Y/N’s temple a kiss as well.

“Glad to see you make it, kid.”

Gibbs left the lab. Y/N turned to Abby who was holding a folder out to her. Y/N immediately opened it and started scanning. Her eyebrows raised.

“We’re working with the FBI’s BAU?” she questioned, “Why would he allow that?”
“He trusts us,” Abby quipped, “Well, the evidence, but us too. They’ve got some lookers, too.”
Y/N chuckled before moving to the monitor. “What do we got?”
“Yeah, you aren’t related,” Abby teased.

Reggie x Reader: Fingers and thumbs, baby.

So I realized that the Reggie tag is dry afand since Reggie Mantle own’s this ass I decided to write a lil’ something. Forgive for the grammatical errors, English is not my first language. This is basically just the intro of the story? So, part 2?Enjoy :)

The one where you are in love with your best friend but is in complete denial, and that will be your downfall but not if your red headed bestfriend, Cheryl, can help it.

Plot: When Reggie and (Y/N) have been bestfriends their whole lives but the universe had other plans.

Morning, pup. Picking you up.

You nearly jumped from your bed when you saw Reggie’s text fifteen minutes ago. You need to get ready and you need to do it fast because God forbid you make Reggie wait. Reggie Mantle never waits.

After the quickest shower of your life you quickly ran to the kitchen where you saw your mom preparing your breakfast and … a packed lunch? Jesus Christ.

“Uh, mom. What’s this?”

“Your lunch.” she muttered simply as if she wasn’t murdering her daughter’s social life.

“I’m a senior.”

“I’m your mom. And you know, I don’t want you eating those trash your cafeteria calls food.” she said handing out the bag to you. “And i’m still creating your lunch until you graduate, sweetie, so get used to it.

“But mooom” You were cut off when you heard two familiar honks from outside. You give your mom a pleading look.

“(Y/N) you are not leaving this house without your lunch.” Clerly, it didn’t work.

“But–”

Another two successive honks.

“Fine! Fine!” you quickly shoved the paper bag in your backpack before giving your mom a peck on the cheeks.

“Love ya! Tell Reggie I said hi!” your mom screamed which you responded with a flying kiss directed to her general direction.

“Hey Reg.” You greeted as you went inside Reggie’s car. “Do me a favor and eat this.”

“Oooh, is this your packed lunch, pup?”

“I will murder your sorry–”

“Okay, I get it.” Reggie cut you off, taking the sandwich from the bag and giving it one huge bite. “Good morning to me.” Reggie moaned in delight. “Thank you mama (Y/L/N).”

“Just drive, you moron.” you chuckled.

Your eyes ran around the buildings they passed through when you heard a buzz from Reggie’s phone that was situated in a small compartment between you two.

“(Y/N/N), can you read that for me.”

“That’s probably from Geraldine.” you deadpanned which, in your language, is a no.

“Please?”

“I do not want to see another picture of a naked woman at 8 o'clock, Reg. It’s too early for that shit.”

Reggie barked out a laugh. “Well, it’s either that or risking an accident, pup. And may I remind you that it was you who kept reminding me that I should never text and drive.”

Anybody who wasn’t Reggie would’ve been ready to cower at your stare but this was Reggie  were talking about. The Reggie that has been the subject of this stare since you were five so it was like an ant bite for him.

“I created a monster.” you sighed.

“Shut up you know you love me.”

“And so does Sandra,” you said as you read another gruesome text from another one night stand. “Thanking you for a wonderful night– nope scratch that, nights. With a photo where she is covered in very familiar sheets in a very familiar bedroom.”

“Well, i’m not Mantle the Magnificent for nothing.” Reggie gave you a wink. “And I thought she was Sarah.”

“You are nasty!” You punched Reggie in his arms which resulted to a (fake) protest from Reggie. They both knew even if you punched him in full of force it would barely tickle your 6 footer bestfriend. “I sleep on that bed, Reg, what the hell!”

“Don’t worry, (Y/N/N), You’re still the only girl in my life.” Reggie chuckled but not before giving you a wink. “And, I replace the sheets every time you sleepover so you can go back to loving me now.”

You huffed, crossing your arms. “Oh c'mon pup, i’m sorry?”

You looked away, knowing if Reggie pulled out the big guns, his puppy eyes, you wouldn’t be able to say no.

“Fine,” Reggie sighed. “I, Reggie Mantle, solemnly swear, that no other girl besides my darling (Y/N) will have the opportunity to sleep in my humble berth.”

(Y/N) smiled at your bestfriend. God, he is a moron.

You can love me now. Heey, heeeeey.” Reggie said, glancing every few seconds in your direction.

“Promise?” You meekly asked. Reggie smirked before offering his pinky. (Y/N) crossed their pinky’s together before pushing their fist and thumbs together, their childish yet unforgotten seal which was yet to be broken.

“Fine-fine, I love you again.”

“Thank God, whatever will I do if I hadn’t gained your affections, m'lady.”

“Crash and burn?” You offered.

“Probably.” You both laughed from the truth in your silly jokes.

“What should I reply?” You asked after a few seconds of silence.

“This is why I love you, pup.”

“Yo Reg!” Reggie heard the muffled shout of Moose as he got out of The car. Moose was together with some of his football buddies that were as intimidating as they looked. Reggie gave them a nod before opening the door for you.

“Sup man.” A couple of greetings were exchanged between Reggie and his teammates while you were hidden safely behind his back, as usual. Aside from when you are with Reggie or any of your carefully chosen friends, you rarely speak. A switch inside you named “everybody-is-a-waste-of-my-time” suddenly clicks and you just go mute which the whole world seems to translate as you being shy.

“Hey bud.” you heard a deep voice from you back. You gave Moose, Reggie’s bestfriend and one of your oldest friends a hug which was followed by Archie, another one of those who got Reggie’s favor when it comes to making sure you are protected from the hells of high school.

Being a silent loner has always had some disadvantages and Reggie always made sure to obliterate those disadvantages at sight, with the help of Archie and Moose from time to time.

“You coming to the game, (Y/N)?” Archie asked you even though you both already knew the answer. Reggie would not allow you to miss a single game of his.

“Yup, Reggie got me tickets.” You barely whispered but apparently it was loud enough for one of their other teammates to hear.

“Oooh nice. Cheer for me will ya?” An unfamiliar face suddenly spoke getting a little close to your personal space that was immediately stopped by Reggie, Archie, and Moose’s hands that automatically went out to protect their (Y/N).

“Watch it, newbie.” Moose warned as the boy raised his hands up.

“Boys,” You warned placing your hands in Reggie’s and Moose’s arms to stop them from making further damage.

“Was just try'na be friendly.” The newbie tried to defend himself.

“Well, start getting the memo. She’s off limits.” Reggie barked back. “Andrews, you got Geometry with (Y/N/N) right?”

“Yeah, yeah got it.” he said taking your book from your hands. “Let’s go bud.”

You nodded before giving Reggie a pat on the waist as a silent goodbye and a silent “please don’t murder the new kid”.

“See you later, pup.”

“Are you crazy?!” Smith nearly screamed at the freshman when Reggie went with Moose to talk to their coach about the new play. “You must have a death wish, I swear—“

“What? It’s not like I asked her–”

“You do not talk to (Y/N), ever. That’s like one of the ten commandments of this school!”

“What? Is she Mantle’s girl?”

“No, she’s more.” Smith scoffed. “Fuck with Mantle’s girls and he might give you a beating of your life but touch his (Y/N) and he’d probably murder you if you haven’t been chopped off by Cheryl first.”

“Who’s Cheryl?”

As if on cue, a black limo stopped in front of the gate of Riverdale high and out went it’s empress. Graceful and intimidating as ever, barely giving other people a glance.

“That’s Cheryl Blossom,” Smith said, almost dreamily which was worrying considering Cheryl looked like the kind of girl who would murder you if you breathed at her wrong. “She had a twin, Jason, but he was brutally murdered. Now all she has left is her money and (Y/N).”

“They’re sisters?” Smith looked at the newbie with an ‘are-you-fucking-kidding-me?‘

“Sorry, my bad. New kid.”

“Actually, nobody really knows. Just like Reggie, they have just been really close ever since.”

Cheryl sighed as she scanned her eyes for the familiar face of (Y/N) in the parking lot but it was proven fruitless. She, however caught Reggie and Moose on the way to the door.

“Mantle, where the hell is my dear (Y/N)?” She said as she went near his annoyingly tall figure.

Reggie could barely contain his groan when he heard her eerily high voice. “She’s not a toy Cheryl.”

“Of course not.” Cheryl said obviously missing the point Reggie was trying to make.

Reggie sighed. “She’s safe from you, if that’s what you’re wondering.”

“Listen here, dimwit –”

“She’s in her first subject with Arch, okay? Calm down.” Reggie said pushing the door open. “And for your information, she’s my (Y/N). It’s time you start learning that.”

Bill skarsgard imagine

Bill talks about a picture of you and him on set during an interview.

Bill was sat infront of a studio audience and 6 studio cameras. He was being interviewed by James Corden on The Late Night Show. He was here to talk about his new film IT. He just knew it was only a matter of time before James asked about you, Bills long term girlfriend. A few days ago, a photo of him in full Pennywise costume kissing you, was released. Along with a photo of you looking absolutely terrified after. Pennywise and a famous Hollywood actress kissing was hilarious and very odd to a lot of fans. Both fans of Bill and you.

‘So Bill, did you have many visitors on set?’ James asked with a cheeky grin.

'Umm…yeah. I has a few people. My girlfriend  (Y/N) visited a few times. The kids really wanted to meet her so she surprised us all on set one day’. Bill responded, while he slicked his hands through his hair.

'We do actually have some great photos of (Y/N) and you on set’.

As James mentioned the photos, Bill turned to see the pictures of him in full make-up with his girlfriend.

'Oh my god, I have seen these so many times now. (Y/N) has even put them in a frame in our living room because she finds them so funny’. Bill laughed.

’ Is there much of a story behind them?’
James asked.

’ Yeah… with both of our jobs, we don’t get to see eachother as much as we would like so she decided to surprise me on set. I was in full make-up ready to film a scene. I turned around and saw my beautuful girlfriend looking at me in shock . I completely forgot I had my full clown face on. She’d never seen me in my Pennywise  costume and clowns freak her out a bit. I run towards her, grab her and kiss her full on the lips. I can feel her really tense up under me. I pull away, she has my lipstick on her lips, white paint on her face and she looked absolutely  horrified. She just had a 6 foot 4 clown march up to her and kiss her with quite a bit of force. I felt so bad’. Bill blushed.

'That would have been terrifying’ James agrees.

’ I know and after I just looked at her for what seemed like 20 minutes before she actually said anything.  she just goes “well thanks Bill, I didn’t want to sleep tonight”. I felt so guilty . It took her about half the day to look me in the eyes. I kept apologising to her until she finally pulled me in for a hug’.

'How was she with the kids?’ James enquired.

’ Oh, she was great. They loved her, Jack in particular kept following her around like a lost puppy. He asked if he could date her instead’. Bill exclaimed.

'The cheek.’ James replied laughing.

'I know. But in all seriousness. She was fabulous with them. I am very proud of her and how she is with kids’. Bill responded with a smile.

He just knew that you and him would make a great little family.

Ahh~! I loved your little angsty drabble!! :D Could I request some jealous Rick? Maybe how guys keep hitting on his girlfriend & he gets jealous and pouty but you make it clear to him that you're his and only his? Just an idea, I'm fine with any jealous Rick idea you got ;)

Okay so this wasn’t exactly like your idea but it was in the general ballpark. Trying to break out of this writer’s block is hard as hell so I hope you like this! I’m so, so sorry it took so long ;;

Jealousy, an emotion you felt on more than one occasion. You hated feeling that way and you knew it was stupid. More times than not you’ve felt jealousy flow through your body when it came to Rick going out on his adventures with Morty. You knew they often went out together and sometimes it was days before they ever returned. You figured the jealousy you felt was because of all the time Rick and his grandson spent together. You wish you could spend a lot of time with Rick.

Today was no different as you sat on the couch, arm propped up on the arm as you rested your head against your hand. The tv was on but you were paying it no mind at all, you sort of just drifted off into your own thoughts as you stared at the tv stand. That was until Summer plopped down on the couch beside you, jolting you from your thoughts. You looked over to see her, of course, on her phone as usual.

“Why are you looking so sad?” Summer asked as she locked her phone and set it down beside her on the armrest of the couch.

“Huh? Oh, no reason..” You mumbled out softly as you extended your leg to very gently kick at the leg of the coffee table.

“Uh huh. It wouldn’t have anything to do with my grandpa, would it? You always seem so down when he and Morty are out.” Summer smirked a little.

It was no secret to the kids that you and Rick were dating. Beth and Jerry, on the other hand, were none the wiser and just considered you as a good family friend. It was actually rather amusing to you that even Rick doesn’t know that the kids found out about your relationship. You could easily play this off as boredom if it was Beth or Jerry but Summer was anything but stupid and could always read you like a book.

you puffed out your cheek in mild annoyance before sighing and looking over at her. “We aren’t spending a lot of time together these days and I’ll admit I’m starting to feel a little jealous that Morty gets to go out on all these adventures with him when I can hardly get a simple hello from him. It’s like I’m not even here anymore. It’s a chore to get his attention..”

It pained you to say it out loud but it was true. It felt like Rick was slowly slipping away from you. It was getting harder and harder to gain his attention in you. You felt as if he had become bored with you and that feeling always left a bad taste in your mouth and a huge lump in your throat.

“Well then let’s make him pay attention.” Summer grinned mischievously and you raised an eyebrow at her and tilted your head.

In that moment there was rustling and noise coming from the garage and Summer stood up, nodding her head for you to follow. You got up and followed her into the kitchen where the door to the garage was slightly ajar.

“So you gonna come with me to this party? Please, please come with me. There will be some older guys there. You might find a date~” Summer beamed happily and loudly enough for her voice to travel into the garage.

Morty opened the garage door more to step into the kitchen, he walked past you both with an exhausted ‘hello’ before trailing upstairs and who was following him into said kitchen? Rick. He walked right past you and Summer and opened the fridge to grab a beer and you felt your heart sink into your stomach. He didn’t bother saying hello. He just leaned against the counter top and drank his stupid can of beer.

“So you’re going to come with me tonight right? you could find the guy of your dreams!” Summer smiled widely and Rick side glanced at the two.

you scratched the nape of your neck before sighing. You weren’t sure what Summer’s end game was but you decided to play along anyways. “S-Sure. I’ll go with you. I don’t have any plans anyway.” You smiled sweetly and you could hear Rick scoff from behind you.

“So you’re going out to a..a…a teeny boppers party? You, you ever think Summer might be you know.. UUUGH using you to gain popularity?” Rick growled from the counter and you wanted to grin but you decided to look at him and give him the coldest expression that you could muster.

“She isn’t as heartless as you.” You said giving Rick a small wink before walking away.

“Party’s at 7!” Summer called out to you.

Seven O'clock rolled around and you decided to go with a nice casual look but still enough to show a little skin. It wasn’t your intention of going to the party to hook up with someone. You and Summer knew all too well that Rick would take the bait and follow you both in secret. You knocked on the Smith/Sanchez door and Jerry opened up the door.

“Ah, nice to see you. You here to pick up Summer?” Jerry asked as he sidestepped, letting you walk into the house.

“Yup!” you smiled happily as you seen Rick look back from where he was sitting on the couch. He let out a rather annoyed sigh and your stomach filled with butterflies. Summer’s plan was already working and you haven’t even left yet!

“We’ll be back around 1~” Summer Chimed happily and Jerry started to look rather concerned.

“That’s a little late.” He looked between the both of you.

“Don’t worry dad, I’m not going to be alone.” Summer walked over and placed a hand on your shoulder before walking out the door, you soon following after as you said goodbye to Jerry and Rick. Even though Rick hardly responded at all.

Closer to the end of the night you were sitting on someone else’s couch, drink in hand although you hardly touched it. It seemed as if Summer’s plan backfired. There were 0 signs of Rick anywhere. Maybe he really didn’t care? Was this how it’s going to be from now on? The thought made your stomach turn a little bit.

You were ripped out of your thoughts when you felt an arm sling around your shoulder, your attention snapped to the person who was invading your bubble to see a drunken male wobbling in his seat, clearly extremely drunk. Summer was right there were older guys here, just not the one you wanted to be here.

“Could you take your arm off me please..” you mumbled lowly.
“Why? What’s the big deal? You’re very pretty.” He smiled.

He seemed pretty harmless. He wasn’t holding you tightly or anything, he was just one of those over happy drunks and it wasn’t in you to be very mean to people so you accepted the compliment with a small smile and a “thank you.”

The male had stayed like that for awhile as you both talked. to be honest, you had forgotten his arm was wrapped around your shoulder. You guess a part of you just wanted to feel close to someone, even if it was a complete drunken stranger. You both talked about a lot of different things like how you knew Summer, how old you were, and why you were here without a date.

You don’t know why but you told the drunken male about your relationship with Rick, without using his name of course. You didn’t want to embarrass Summer. You stressed your feelings and that’s when the male leaned in further towards you, he pressed his lips against yours and you immediately jerked back.

“Whoa..” you raised your hands up so that they came in between you and the male.

“What’s the problem. your boyfriend seems like such an ass-HEY!” The drunken guy slurred as he was yanked up from his seat.

You looked up and to your horror stood Rick. Rick was gripping the other males arm so tightly you thought that a small simple twist would break the poor guy’s arm. Rick looked pissed beyond all belief.

“What the fuck do you think you’re doing?” Rick growled as he glared at the drunken male.

“Just- Just having some fun old man. No, No harm.” The guy sputtered but wenced out when Rick twisted the guy’s arm.

“If, If, If I were you I’d seriously consider finding someone else because this one here is mine.” Rick huffed and you felt heat rush to your face when you heard him call you his.

Rick let go of the guy and the drunken guy stumbled away holding his arm tightly. There were a few eyes on you but you didn’t care. the only ones that mattered were Rick’s. you had to admit, seeing him become defensive over you made you want to leap off the couch and kiss him but you knew better.

“And you. What the- what the hell do you think you’re doing!?” Rick glared down at you and you felt as if you had sunk into the couch a little more. You didn’t want to cause any more of a scene. Rick, of course, sensed this and grabbed your hand tightly, yanking you up before going outside.

Once you were outside Rick pulled you into him, wrapping his arms tightly around you. You were a little confused at the sudden action.
“Look. I know I haven’t been that great lately- Been busy a lot but don’t ever do that again… I was here from start to finish you know.” Rick said softly, his hold tightening a little bit. “When I saw you with that guy it made me so pissed off, I wanted to punch that asshole in the face. I don’t want anyone else to touch you like that-I don’t give a crap if it was innocent or not. You’re with me and me only. I don’t like to share” He growled as he thought about the memory and that’s when you finally hugged him back. He did care and that made you happy.

“Mommy?”

“Yes sweetie?” you asked, swallowing the lump in your throat as you got up and walked towards her. For a moment you held your breath as you knelt in front of her.

She opened her mouth to say something but obviously decided against it and instead asked-

“Who is that?” and there it was, there was the question you found just as hard to answer. Obviously the only thing Dean did was keep her occupied upstairs as you imagined.

“He- uhm” you cleared your throat, glancing at Dean for a second and then at Sam “He’s… family, sweetheart. He is family. Really close one actually-” you said and a big smile spread on her face. One thing Dean had taught her amongsteverything else was: Family is always important. And he had made sure she understood that family wasn’t only blood relation.

“Family?” she asked with a small tilt of her head and you looked at Dean behind her who seemed to be holding his breath.

“Yeah baby.” he breathed out, his voice more hoarse than you’d heard it before. No wonder he was struggling with keeping his emotions under control in such a situation.

“He’s actually… real close family.” of course he couldn’t say it because having her call Sam her uncle would be worse than hearing her call Dean her father.

Before you could realize it and before you could stop her yourself she was running from your hands to Sam who seemed to be getting stiff as she aproached him. For a moment both you and Dean were quiet surprised with how open she suddenly was but then again even if she didn’t know it… Sam was her father.

You couldn’t believe your eyes, your father, aka, Batman vs Superman were going to beat their shit, again… but this time you knew exactly what happened, you knew it was going to be hilarious one day, but right now, you were scared.

To be honest, you were tired of this, you were tired of their fights, really, they were like 10. Bruce Wayne and Clark Kent could fight over a freaking cookie and turn the world upside down if they wanted, like if they just wanted to fight each other, oh and don’t talk about how your dad’s behavior after those fights, he was like the broken-hearted girl friend who didn’t want to talk to him. At first it amazed you that he was actually the Batman, but now you just wanted to slap their perfect faces.

Rain was soaking your clothes as your hands were holding a wild Damian ready to punch Jon’s face. Seriously God, why did you deserve all of these shit, today?!

Your gaze went straight to Kara in front of you, she was more than pissed, but she was enjoying every minute of this fight. Her hands were holding Jon tighter, you could easily said after seeing the holes under Jon’s shoes. Well, heck. You said to yourself.

“What? You can even hold your tiny mini-me?” Kara said with a smirk when Damian was trying to escape your arms.

“Oh hell you didn’t said that!” You and Damian said in one voice, both of your anger raised and for sure, your father and Clark were in the same page.

Three hours ago

“I don’t get it Bruce, why do I have to stay?!” you told Bruce as you walked behind him through the Manor.

“I can’t hold Damian, but you can” he said not turning around.

“I’m not a nana Bruce… and I know Dick it’s the ultimate babysister here” you told him with a chuckle.

“Y/N. Dick, Tim and Jason are busy, you are the only one around…” he told you while he searched for Alfred.

“Well… that’s not true, what about Cass, Steph and Barbara?” you asked him.

“Y/N he is your brother”

“And?”

“And I need you this time, that’s it”

“What if I go with Damian to somewhere else while you deal with Super-family”

“You know what happens when I’m alone, with Clark, Y/N”

“So, there’s no other option, we are staying I liked it or not, right?” you told him with a scoff.

“And I think lady Y/N’s detective genes are blooming” Alfred said when he walked inside the room.

“Y/N go for Damian, see you both here in 10, we gotta prepare everything” Bruce said while turning to Alfred.

“Are you kidding me?! Look for Damian it’s like a living ‘Where’s Waldo?’ ” you said with a scoff.

“Tim found him in less than 10 minutes” Bruce said with a raised eyebrow and a smirk, it was your clue to ran in search for Damian, you had to break that record.

“Always works” Bruce said with a chuckle.

“Actually, no one has found Damian in less than 10 minutes” Alfred said with smile.

“She doesn’t have to know that” Bruce said with a tiny laugh.

“Why we have to go?!” Jon and Kara said in one voice as they look at Clark walking around.

“Aren’t you friends with Y/N and Damian?” Clark said with a raised eyebrow.

Both of the looked at each other as they thought for seconds.

“We are friends… for minutes without fighting” Kara said while rolling her eyes.

“Damian always fights dad, he’s my friend… but he always do that” Jon said with a sad smile.

“Well, that makes three of us.. okay look, I need both of you, you know how Bruce and I fight over tiny things, so maybe, if our family is with us, maybe, we can avoid a fight, again” Clark said with a sigh.

“So why you don’t go with Lois?” Kara asked with a raised eyebrow

“She has work to do, but she will be there later” Said Clark with a smile.

“And what are we supposed to do?” Kara asked confused.

“Just, don’t fight, please” Clark said with a pleading face.

“After these, I want a giant ice cream” Jon said with a stern face.

“I agree with Jon, so we want a double giant ice cream” said Kara with a smile.

“Deal, but no fights” Clark said with a smile.

“Is that a plane?”

“Is that a bird?”

“Wait no?! That’s- Oh damn, I really wanted to be another thing, but you guys, are okay… I guess” Damian said after his eyes recognized the super family.

Bruce hit the back of his head with a face that clearly said ‘Damian, shut up’. So you chuckled after Damian’s face ‘You know it’s true, father’. God, you loved your family.

“I thought you were pretty robins, but you are just, flying rats” Jon said with a smirk.

Jon” Clark said in his dad’s voice.

“What?! you know it’s true, you have said it yourself“ Jon said without thinking and the three of you looked at Clark shocked.

“Good to see you Bruce, shall we start?” Clark said trying to avoid the fight.

You looked at your dad and you saw his clenched jaw. He was trying not to start an argument.

“Yeah, come in” Bruce said trying to stay calm

The super family stepped inside the Major and your eyes locked with Kara’s. You gotta be fucking kidding me, you thought to yourself, of all the people in the world, she came. Your friendship with her was really strange, sometimes you could be best friends and go out laughing and other days you were actual fighting with her, just like your dad. It was strange, just that.

“It’s going to be the longest dinner of our lives” You told Damian after the super family walked in front of you, leaving you with Damian behind.

“Tt, father made a bet with me, sister” Damian told you with a playful smirk.

“oh, really? Today I won one, Tim is going to be pissed” you told him with another smirk.

“Father made a bet with me about the super brat fam” Damian said with a smirk, he knew you pretty well. Little jerk.

“What about it?” you asked him curious while you both start walking behind your guests.

Don’t punch them” Damian told you with a wide smile, damn. He knew you, and damn, you wanted to won that bet too, but it was actually difficult with Kara here.

“What’s the prize?” You asked Damian, maybe you could break that bet.

“We can have a new pet” He told you with another smile.

“Deal, no punching” you said with a smirk, you couldn’t let this pass, you wanted a pet.

After an hour talking, finally Bruce and Clark were ending, peacefully. Well, in all that full hour many things were said between everyone, stupid things actually, you punched multiple times Damian’s leg when he was about to start a fight with Jon, and it was ridiculous, he wanted to fight the boy because he pet Titus or because he took the last cookie (well, you understand that part, Alfred cookies are a treasure).

In other hand, your father’s and Clark’s jaws were clenched, they might be talking peacefully, but they were more than pissed.

And well, Kara was playing with few sentences around you, and of course Damian kicked you many times under the table to not fight her, she was talking about how good she was, she could lift cars, she could fly, she didn’t need any of your toys to fight. You were more than ready to stab her with the fucking fork, until Bruce looked at you with a Bat glare.

So you tried to stay calm, your hand was clutching the cloth in your hands trying comfort your anger, you looked at Bruce hands and you chuckled, he was doing the same, you looked at Damian and he was doing the same thing, you wanted to laugh, this was a strong game for the Wayne’s.

Who will crack first?

“Well, for the record Bruce, by far this has been a pretty calm evening” said Clark with a smile.

“Are you saying that it’s weird that we stay calm?” Bruce said curious.

No, Dad please stop. You thought as you looked at your father with wide eyes.

“Well, calm isn’t the word that could define a ’Wayne’ ” Kara said as if it meant nothing, how wrong she was, she was reaching the point of no return.

“What word will be the best for a ’Wayne’ then?” you asked her with a raised eyebrow and Damian looked at you the same way you looked at Bruce before.

“Drama Queens” Damian heard Jon said under his breath.

“I’m sorry, what did you said farm boy?” Damian said with a curious look.

“I can be a farm boy, at least I’m not a flying creepy rat” Jon said with a scoff

Oh hell, they were getting there.

“There goes our calm evening” Clark said under his breath.

“Tell me if I’m wrong, but I could swear you are implying that my kids are breaking your 'calm evening’ ” Bruce said with anger in his voice.

“Bruce, I don’t mean that! But now this is nothing but calm!” Clark said with a scoff and both of his eyebrows went high until they reached his hairline.

“For the record Clark, your family was the one who started” Bruce said with a smirk

“Don’t you dare to blame us, Bat” Clark said with a scoff, but you knew he was getting pissed.

“But I dare, because you are in my house Clark, and all night your family had play with mine to get in our nerves” said Bruce with a glare.

“WE never start fights, Bruce” Clark said getting more pissed.

“Oh, really? guess what? your boy dug his grave when he called Damian 'flying rat’ and so far Y/N it’s not less than Kara” Bruce said and you and Damian looked at your father, you were more than proud.

“Really, Bruce? two can play the same game. Your family always fights mine, no matter what, over a cookie or death glare contest! We were here to discuss your problem with the Joker and the Scarecrow! not our families!” Clark said with a glare.

“My problem with those two it’s mine and not yours! we were here to discuss all the villain out there, alien” Bruce said with a smirk because, everyone knew, Clark hated that word.

“You want to fight Joker lover, bring it” Clark said as he raised up.

“Dad no…” you told Bruce before he raised, he looked at you and Damian, you were not going to crack over them.

“What Y/N, do you agree that your father loves the Joker?” Kara said and well, you crack there.

“You know Dad?, do your own business while I make mines” you said and Bruce and you stand up beside him.

“Tt, Sister” Damian told you while his hand grabbed your bicep “We can’t break the bet” he told you under his breath.

“Aren’t you old enough to deal with your own problems, demon?” Jon asked with a chuckle.

“Nevermind, sis” Damian told you as he glared at Jon.

“Master Bruce, I will not stand this again” Alfred said and everyone looked at him “Cleaning the Manor it’s exhausting, deal with your differences outside” He told everyone as he leaved the dinner room.

And so, that’s why you are outside the Manor, trying to hold Damian the longest time you can, you thought that maybe you could chill things, but no, your family has no chill, and more less when these super fam is trying to die.

“Your sister can hold you forever!” Jon said with, literal, red eyes.

“You know what? he’s right” you told Damian and you free him.

In matter of seconds they were fighting each other on the ground, and soon you felt someone grabbing you by your hoodie, you looked at Kara and she had red eyes too.

“It doesn’t surprise me, you can’t fight like a human” you told her with a scoff.

“Let’s fight your way then, but no toys Y/N” she told you and soon her eyes were blue again.

You didn’t gave her time to react, you gave her a punch right in her face, oh she didn’t saw that coming, and it was glorious for you, finally you did what you craved.

“Bring it, Supergirl” you told her with a shitty grin

And it was her sign to start fighting against you. You can’t lie, fighting against someone like her was hard, really hard, this guys doesn’t get tired as a normal people, because of course, they’re not, but you were trying your best to act like them. Your father was right, this was your home, and you will not lose in it.

One hour of punching, kicking and screaming and still you were on your feet. Blood was coming from your lip, eyebrows, hairline and nose, you had some bruises and your body grew tired every passing second, but looking at Kara made you feel better, you really did a great job, I mean, she could be all fresh with some dust in her hair, but you really had an actual fight with her. Damian and Bruce were doing their best too, what could you say? you have been all your life training and -

What the fuck is happening?!” you heard Dick’s voice and you turned around.

You shouldn’t had done that, never give your back to your enemy. Kara launched herself to you, pinning you down and holy fuck, you must have pissed her off, because she was ready to make a big hole in your head.

Someone took her away from you, Dick of course and he tried to calm her, you sit on the ground, but seconds after you felt someone carrying you inside the Manor, but you didn’t fight any longer, you were tired, your were bleeding, you knew you were in Jason’s arms so, why fight?

Your eyes looked at Tim trying to hold Damian while the Super boy (that Jackass, but other story for another time), trying  to pull Jon away from Damian. It was pretty funny when you thought about it. Then your gaze drifted to your father, he was being pulled away by Alfred while Lois was trying to calm Clark.

“Care to explain?” Jason told you after he settle you on the couch, he went from some First Aid kit and return to clean your wounds.

“Hello my love, good to see you too… really need an explanation? We always fight” you told him with a chuckle.

“I know the fighting thing, but this time you all came too far” Jason told you before he started stitching up your eyebrow. “For the record, I love you too” he told you with a smile.

“Drake! Put me down!” you heard Damian’s voice coming closer.

Tim placed Damian beside you and you chuckled when you saw him, he had the deepest frown on his face, he was way too cute when he was mad.

“Who won?” you asked your brother with a half smile, Jason was still patching your wounds so you tried not to groan at the pain.

“You really need an answer, Sis? I always- ”

“That’s enough! We leave you for hours. HOURS and you already did a freaking war in the backyard! What’s wrong with you!?” Dick said walking inside the room.

You looked at Damian and you felt a little bad, you really made a chaos in hours just because some stupid words.

“Alfred I don’t need more scolding!” you heard your father’s voice.

Everyone looked at the door, Alfred came in, holding Bruce by his ear (you live for this moments), he placed Bruce beside Damian. The three of you were a bloody mess, Jason gave you a kiss on your forehead before he got up. Tim, Dick, Alfred and Jason were looking at the three family members on the couch.

“Master Bruce. I know you tend to fight with Mr. Kent, but this time you ALL went too far.” he said with with a tired voice. “it is your home, but they are your guest, sir. You can’t treat them like that. Clean up and apologize to them” Alfred said.

There wasn’t a single force on Earth that could fight Alfred, he was always right and so you all felt more guilty. You thought about your actions and you felt more and more bad with yourself, you really need it to apologize to the Supers.

Jason helped with your wounds while Dick helped Damian. Tim was with Bruce. Alfred went outside the room, he was going to apologize to the Clark’s family, but he stopped himself when he heard Lois doing that job.

Minutes later the three of you came out from the room, 'cleaner’ than before. And you looked at the family in front of you. You wanted to make a winning-dance, when you saw Kara’s face but you hold it, this wasn’t the time.

“I want to apologize for our behavior, Clark. We went too far” Bruce said and he looked at you and Damian, like 'Help me here, Batman never do apologies’

“You might be in our home, but that doesn’t give us the right to treat you like, well, like we did back there” You told them with a half smile.

You looked at your side, Damian was still not having any of these shit, so you nudged him with your elbow.

“Yeah, we are sorry, okay? we truly apologize” He told them with a serious tone, you were amazed by that, to be honest.

“Hey, we are in the same ground here, we didn’t have the right to said all those things or to get in your nerves” Clark said and Lois smiled at his husband.

Minutes passed from apologies and some few chats between the families. But they realized it was time to leave. The Bat family arrived to the room as Alfred said few scolding but ending with a speech about how proud he was with the ending of the troubles. Jason tangled his hand with yours as he kissed your temple.

“So, next time you are going to fight her?” Jason told you with a chuckle

“Well, I don’t know, I hope I do, it’s a really good chance to train” you told him with another chuckle.

“Well, as long as you don’t get close to that brat Super Boy, I’m fine with that” Jason told you with a smile.

“Jealous much, Todd?” you asked him with a smirk

“Me? I’m never jealous” he said with a scoff

“Tt so you don’t care I gave Y/N’s number to Jon? That Super Boy asked him for it” Damian said while sitting beside you.

“You did what, demon?!” Jason said with eyes wide open.

“What? you said you weren’t jealous” Damian said with a smirk, he leaned his head in your shoulder and you smiled.

“Please! Don’t fight right now! I really want to watch this show!” said Tim when he placed himself beside Jason.

“The only show you will see is how I kick the Demon’s ass” Jason said with a hiss.

“Touch him and you will regret it, Todd” you told him with a playful glare.

“How are the two of you so damn close?” Dick said when he returned with his 'Batman- Lego’ pijamas. He made a gesture to Damian to move so he could sit beside him.

“She’s my sister, Grayson” Damian said with a glare.

“We are your brothers, Damian” Dick said with a smile.

“Whatever! Don’t fight and everyone shut up now!” Tim said having enough of his family.

After all, it was the monthly sleep over for the Bat Family, you were all together watching (Y/F/TVS), nothing in the world could take this away from you. Soon, you and Damian felt asleep, you were more than tired, you don’t know how many time passed, but the only thing you knew was that now, you were in Jason’s arms, warm and safe.

It’s the middle of Spring, so the weather is at a point where it’s just about right. On this particular Saturday it was beautiful out with the sun peeking through the clouds and a light breeze passing by. As you pulled into the parking lot you could see the rest of Amelia’s classmates and accompanying parents on the beach.

“You ready for this?” Shawn asks from the passenger seat. The sun hat you got him as a joke adorned the top of his head and his eyes were framed by a pair of black Ray Bans. Such a dad. In the back seat, Amelia was already anxious to get out and she made sure to let the two of you know.

“Ready as I’ll ever be.”

Bucky’s POV

She walked into the kitchen and took my breath away as usual. I smiled at her as she approached me and sat down at the island.

“So what are you up to today Y/N?” I questioned casually, hoping that she’d say she was free. She grinned and turned to me.

“Well I thought that I was probably gonna go and hang out with Jasper,” she beamed.

“Who’s Jasper?” I didn’t recognize the name and was curious. Was he an old friend that I just didn’t remember her mentioning?

“Oh, he’s new around here and super cute! I was planning on taking him for a walk around central park to let him get familiar to the area,” she smiled. It was obvious that she was fond of this Jasper guy. All of my confidence deflated. I was planning on finally asking her out today. I’ve been trying to build up the courage to do so for months now.

“Oh well have fun, I guess,” I mumbled trying my best to sound sincere and failing miserably.

“You alright Buck? You seem off.” She reached out and touched my shoulder. My skin burned under her palm.

“Yeah, I’m fine,” I said and shot her my best smile. She must’ve bought it because she smiled back and stood from her seat.

“I’ll see you later? Yeah?” she asked.

“Sure,” I grumbled and waved at her as she walked to the elevator.

I didn’t notice Nat in the room until I let out an angry groan and she started laughing.

“You make it really obvious Barnes. Everyone sees the way you look at her. I’m almost positive that she likes you back. You should seriously consider asking her out,” Nat sang as she sauntered out of the kitchen.
*******

Y/N had been going on and on about how great Jasper was for about two weeks now. I was entirely fed up with the guy and I had never even met him. It was obvious that she was infatuated with him. It was really a wonder that I hadn’t seen him around the tower with her before. She was chatting with Wanda in the living room when I walked in and sat down.

“-going on a trip,” Y/N said. I caught the tail end of her sentence.

“Is Jasper coming with you?” Wanda questioned her.

“Yeah, I bet my parents will love him!” She beamed excitedly. He’s already going to meet her parents? What the hell, they just met two weeks ago. I started to feel sick.

“The only problem is that I’m going to have to drive the whole way there and the whole way back here without any breaks,” she grumbled. This made me even more angry at this Jasper guy. He didn’t even offer to take a driving shift. Her parents live at least 10 hours away.

“Jasper isn’t going to drive at all?” I asked. She seemed amused.

“Well, it’s not like he could even if he wanted to,” she giggled and Wanda joined her. This guy can’t even drive? Is she seriously dating him? My jealousy overcame me so i decided that it was best to leave the girls to themselves.

I was fuming so I went to the gym to work off all of my pent up anger.

************

Y/N and Jasper had gotten back from their trip a week ago. It was around 4 o'clock when Y/N shuffled into the common room. She sat down next to me on the couch and started flipping through the TV channels. I glanced at her and smiled in greeting. She smiled back.

Her close proximity was doing bad things to my hormones. It was like my feelings for her grew every second that I was near her.

She started to ask me how my day was going but all I could think about was stupid Jasper. Every time I would try to have a normal conversation with her, Jasper would pop into my mind and ruin everything. He was like a parasite and I just wanted him to disappear.

“So do you want to train with me later? Steve says I need to work on my hand to hand,” she beamed. The intrusive thoughts of Jasper made my attitude turn sour. Before I knew it, I was incredibly jealous.

“I don’t know? Can’t Jasper train with you?” I snapped at her. Her eyes went wide.

“Bucky what is going on?” She questioned clearly shocked by my anger. I immediately felt bad for snapping but it was too late to backtrack now. It’s not her fault that she has a boyfriend. I can’t get mad at her for it.

“I’m just tired. I’m sorry for yelling,” I apologized. She didn’t deserve my anger. I just wanted to retreat to my room to wallow in my self pity in peace.

“Bucky wait! I know when you’re lying to me and you are definitely lying to me now,” she said firmly so I turned back to her and shifted my gaze to the ground. My mind was racing. I didn’t know what to say. It was true that I was lying to her. She could always tell. I sighed heavily and then spoke. I was going to come clean.

“It’s just- well it’s just that I really like you. I know you’re with Jasper and it’s not fair for me to be jealous when you were not mine to begin with and-”

“Wait, you’re kidding right?” She giggled and threw her hand up to cover her smile.

“Y/N this isn’t funny. I’m trying to be honest with you!” I said. The confusion was evident in my voice. Was the idea of dating me really that funny to her?

“Oh my gosh Bucky, you think I’m dating Jasper?” She asked still laughing.

“Yeah why? You make it pretty obvious,” I grumbled, her laughter was embarrassing me.

“Come with me,” she smiled and reached her hand out to grasp mine. Holding her hand felt so right that I wasn’t strong enough to pull away, no matter how annoyed I was with her for making fun of me.

She led me into the lobby of the tower and had F.R.I.D.A.Y call us a cab.

“Where are we going?” I asked still slightly annoyed with her but grateful that she wanted to spend time with me at the same time.

“You’ll see in a minute,” she stated.

The cab ride was short and we soon pulled up in front of her apartment building. She led me into the lobby and up to her floor. She swung the door open and a playful labrador puppy ran up to me and started nibbling at my jeans. I squatted down to pet the puppy. He was adorable.

“Bucky, this is Jasper,” she stated and my head whipped around to look at her.

“What? This is Jasper?” For a moment my brain couldn’t catch up with what was happening. I was dumbfounded.

“Now it makes sense why you wouldn’t just ask me out like Nat said you would! I thought you just didn’t like me back, while all this time you thought I was dating some guy named Jasper,” she was laughing even harder now than she was back at the tower.

“Oh my gosh and you actually meant it when you asked if he was going to drive to my parents house. I thought you were kidding,” she giggled but then looked to me stricken on the floor trying to comprehend what I just heard. Her laughs faded away and she reached down to help me stand up.

“Bucky, how could you not tell how absolutely infatuated I am with you?” She questioned and looked directly into my eyes. She held the sides of my face with her small hands and after raising her eyebrows in question and seeing me nod, brought her lips to mine.

I sighed into her mouth. It was better than I ever imagined it being. We broke apart only to breathe.

“You have no idea how long I’ve wanted to do that,” I said as I rested my forehead against hers. She smiled and wrapped her arms around my waist.

“And to think that all this time I was jealous of a little puppy,” I said more to myself than her.

“Yeah yeah mister, now how about we discuss your obliviousness to my feelings for you over some food instead of in my living room. If I’m not mistaken, we have some lost time to make up.”

“Why don’t you just ask him out already?” Bella asked with a frown. You turned to look at her, one eyebrow raised. “It’s not that easy. And I can’t just start stalking him until he asks me out either.” You sassed and fell back onto your bed.

“I didn’t stalk him!” Your friend countered from her place at your computer desk. “I was just interested in him! Stuff happened and we just… kinda started dating I guess.” She shrugged.

A Family Friend

A work based on @directium‘s Teenage Dadvid!AU

Read the whole series on AO3

Summary: When Gwen got paired with the weird teenage dad for their history project, she didn’t know what to expect. Who could have guessed he would end up being her best friend?

Word Count: 5983

Gwen had only been at this school for about a month, but she didn’t like it much. It wasn’t necessarily any worse than her old school, but it wasn’t any better, either. At least at her old school, she still had her friends.

Her new friends weren’t bad, though. Well, maybe “friends” was too strong a word; she didn’t really know them that well, and she got the feeling that theirs was only a temporary sort of acquaintanceship. They got along fine during school hours, but she couldn’t really see them hanging out a couple years down the road.

Take Jen, for example. Gwen had met her in the history class they shared. They got along well enough; they both loved fashion, and gossip magazines, and trashy reality TV shows. But beyond that, there wasn’t much. Not enough to form a long lasting friendship. Still, she enjoyed hanging out with her, just chilling at lunch or exchanging snarky comments in class.

This particular class, they were being assigned a project. It was stupidly simple: make a presentation about whatever president you thought was the most influential. The teacher paired them up, to “lighten the load” or whatever. He sat at his desk, reading off the list of names. “Kate and Lisa. Jen and Daniel. Michelle and Gina. Gwen and David…”

Gwen stopped listening after that. David… which one was he again? She twisted around in her seat, scanning the room and trying to find a face to the name. A boy with reddish-brown hair caught her eye, flashing her a big smile. That would be him, her mind supplied. She’d never talked to him before; he seemed nice enough, though. Maybe a bit of a goody-two-shoes, but at least she wasn’t getting stuck with one of the idiotic assholes who drew dicks on the desks in the back of the room.

The teacher spent the last fifteen minutes of class explaining what he expected from them in far more detail than necessary, not that Gwen was listening. She stuffed her books into her bag, ready to leave the moment the bell rang. She had lunch next, and damn was she ready for a break. Luckily, this teacher wasn’t one of those horrendous “the bell doesn’t dismiss you, I do” jerks, so she was out of her seat the second she heard the bell.

“So you got paired with David, huh?” Jen said as they left the room. “Tough luck.”

“Why?” Gwen was confused at the sympathy in her tone, but then a spark of excitement struck up inside her. “Is there something wrong with him?” She always loved a good piece of gossip.

“I don’t know about wrong, per se; he’s just weird. He doesn’t really have any friends.”

So he was an outcast. There could be some drama there. “Why’s that?”

Jen shrugged. “Probably because he spends too much time taking care of that kid of his.”

Gwen stopped dead in her tracks. “He has a kid?” She half-twisted around to try to catch a glimpse of him as he left the classroom. He’d always seemed so mild-mannered and polite, definitely not the type to have a baby so young.

Jen nodded, pulling her arm to get her moving again. “It was a whole big thing that happened freshman year. I’m kind of surprised you didn’t hear about it already. Totally normal school year, nothing weird, nothing suspicious; we have a couple days off for Thanksgiving, and David comes back to school on Monday with a baby.”

“Whoa.” That was something she didn’t see coming. “So who’s the mother?”

“No one knows.”

“Seriously?”

“A bunch of kids have asked him, and I think Daniel even tried to steal his phone once to go through his texts, but he won’t say. And trust me, we’ve tried to figure it out ourselves. No dice. There were, like, one or two upper classmen who were pregnant at the time, but they didn’t have their kids until way later in the year.”

“Someone from a different school, then?”

“Must be.”

Gwen shook her head half in disbelief, trying to get used to the idea. “That is not something I would have expected.”

“It’s not something anyone expected,” Jen said. It was all the school had talked about for months after it had happened. “This is seriously the first you’re hearing of this?”

“Yeah.”

Jen hummed for a moment as she thought it over. “Well, I guess people don’t talk about it so much anymore.”

“That sucks,” Gwen sighed. “I want to hear about this shit.”

“Why don’t you ask him about it?”

“What?”

“You’re going to have to spend at least some time with David to get this stupid project done. Have him tell you about it then.”

“Do you think he would?” It seemed pretty personal, not the kind of information you’d hand out to a total stranger. Which, now that she thought about it, might be why he hadn’t really told any of the other kids anything.

“I don’t know. Aren’t parents always looking for excuses to brag about their kids?”

“I mean, I guess.” It was a little different than bragging, though.

Jen gave her a look that was borderline condescending. “You know I’m right. Just ask him. What’s the worst that could happen? He says no? Doesn’t want to talk to you?” She shrugged nonchalantly. “Not exactly a catastrophe. Now hurry up so we can get to the cafeteria already; I’m starving.”

***

The soonest Gwen managed to catch up with David ended up being just before their next history class. He was already at his desk when she came in, doing what looked like math homework.

“Hey,” Gwen said as she stopped next to him.

“Hi, Gwen,” David greeted brightly, looking up at her with a smile. “What’s up?”

“We need to find a time to work on this project.” It was due on Monday, after all. Not a whole lot of time to work, but then again, it seemed like the sort of project they could bang out in a couple of hours, so she wasn’t concerned. “Are you free after school?”

David shook his head, smile morphing into an apologetic half-frown. “I wish I could, but I have work.”

“How about this weekend?”

He thought for a moment. “Uh, yeah, I think that should be fine,” he said, though he didn’t sound very certain.

“Great. Saturday? My house?”

“Um, are you sure we couldn’t do it at my house? Or at, like, the library or something?”

“I don’t know my way around that well yet,” Gwen said with a small shake of her head. “Just come to mine, it’ll be easier.”

David bit his lip, looking a little uncomfortable all of a sudden. Gwen watched him fiddle with his pencil, and her eyebrows drew together in confusion. “What?”

“It’s just that I’d have to find someone to watch Max, and…”

He trailed off, and Gwen decided to take advantage of the moment to do a little digging.“Max is your son, right?”

David nodded. “His daycare isn’t open on weekends, and the last time I tried to get a sitter he was an absolute nightmare.” He sighed before continuing, talking to himself more than Gwen. “I guess I could try leaving him with Mrs. Duka again, but he won’t like that at all. Oh, that’s not a tantrum I want to deal with.”

“Why don’t you just bring him with you?”

“What?” David asked, attention snapping back to her. He looked almost shocked, as if he couldn’t believe she would suggest something like that.

“Bring him with you. I don’t mind.” Truth be told, she was actually pretty curious; to the rest of the school, David’s kid was old news, but this was the first she was hearing of it—old drama could still be good drama. Besides, no one had ever figured out who the kid’s mother was. It was almost guaranteed that Gwen wouldn’t know her, but that didn’t mean she couldn’t at least try to find out who it was. Maybe if she charmed him enough he’d spill.

“No, I couldn’t. Max is a handful, and he’s always making messes; I don’t want you to have to put up with that.”

“Bring him anyway; I want to meet him.”

“I—really?” His eyebrows drew together in confusion, and honestly, was it really so inconceivable that someone else was interested in his kid?

“Sure, why not?” Gwen didn’t exactly love kids, but she’d live if David brought his for one afternoon.

“O-okay.”

“Okay. See you Saturday. Maybe around one?” she said, writing her address down on the top of David’s paper.

“Yeah, see you Saturday,” he echoed bewilderedly as he watched Gwen walk back to her desk.

***

David stepped off the bus with Max in his arms and started walking towards Gwen’s street. Thankfully Max hadn’t been too difficult so far, but David didn’t expect his good mood to last.

“Remember, Max, we’re going to be on our best behavior today. So that means no screaming, no throwing things, and you’re going to listen to me, okay?”

Max gave a sharp kick to David’s side. “I wanna walk,” he whined.

David sighed. “If I let you walk, will you promise to behave?”

Max nodded, his curls bouncing adorably. David doubted that he actually meant it, but let him down anyway. There was no real reason not to let him walk, and besides, it’d let him get at least some of his energy out.

“No running, now, alright?” David told him, so of course the first thing Max did once his feet hit the ground was take off sprinting. David rolled his eyes and sped up a bit, watching Max carefully to make sure he wasn’t about to go somewhere he shouldn’t.

Max stayed on the sidewalk, but David should have expected that that was where his cooperation would end. Soon enough, Max had reached the curb. He stopped for a moment, like he was trying to figure out where to go next. “Wait for me there,” David called to him. Max, however, had other plans, turning the corner and starting to run again.

“No! Max!” David yelled after him, Max’s mischievous laughter drifting back to him. David upped his pace to a jog so he could catch Max before he got too far away. When he rounded the corner and saw Max toddling wobbily down the street, clearly pleased with himself, he let out an amused sigh before resuming his jog.

David caught up to him with a play-roar. He grabbed Max around the waist and pulled him back against his chest, leaning in to blow a raspberry on his cheek. Max giggled, batting uselessly at David’s face and trying to squirm away. He twisted around to face David with a smile. David smiled back affectionately and gave him a quick kiss on the forehead. “Come on, little monster,” he said, standing up. “We need to go this way.”

David took his hand and started to lead them back in the right direction. He had to slow his pace considerably so that Max could keep up, but that was nothing new. “So what do you want to do after Daddy’s done with his work today?”

“Get ice cream!” Max shouted, looking up at David with a wide grin.

David gasped, pretending to be shocked. “Ice cream? In March?” Granted, it was a pretty warm day for March, but that didn’t mean he couldn’t have a little fun with his kid about it.

Max nodded enthusiastically. “Yeah!”

“No, we couldn’t.”

“But I want it,” he pleaded, putting on the puppy-dog eyes he knew David was weak for.

David tried to find the willpower to resist, but it was no good. “Okay,” he eventually relented, “but only if you’re super good today. Deal?”

Max’s grin was back as he nodded in agreement, and David couldn’t help but smile in return. The kid was just too cute for him to handle, sometimes.

When they reached Gwen’s street, he started scanning the house numbers. He found Gwen’s easily enough, not too far from the street corner. The second he stepped onto the front path, however, Max changed his mind about their outing. He’d been fine with it when they left, but now he lagged as far behind David as he could. David had to practically pull him up the steps; Max dug his heels into the ground, but it did very little good.

Safely on the top step, David released Max’s hand, and he immediately latched on to his pant leg. As he pushed the bell, chimes echoing throughout the house, he felt the kid press his face into the backs of his knees. He gave his head a gentle pat, listening to the quiet thump of footsteps approach the door.

The door swung open, and David flashed Gwen a smile. “Hey,” he said. “Sorry we’re a little late.”

Gwen rolled her eyes. “Barely. It’s only been, like, six minutes.”

David shrugged. “I like to be on time.”

She was about to wave him inside when she noticed the little boy watching her from behind David’s legs. She put on a friendly smile, leaning down a little so she wouldn’t tower over him quite so much. “You must be Max.”

“Oh, yeah!” David said happily. He stepped to the side and crouched down, placing a hand on the boy’s back to gently push him forward. “Max, this is my friend Gwen,” he introduced her. “She’s the one who invited us over today.”

“It’s nice to meet you,” Gwen said with a sweetness that did not come naturally to her, taking a moment to really take in Max’s appearance. She had to admit, he was pretty cute. He didn’t look anything like David, though. The only feature they shared were the green eyes, but even then, the shades were nowhere near similar.

Max stared up at her, looking almost angry.

“Say hello, Max,” David gently instructed. When he didn’t listen, David took on a firmer tone. “Max.”

“Hi,” he eventually mumbled, leaning into David’s side.

David rubbed his back a bit and smiled up at Gwen before standing back up. She took that as the cue to move things along. “Well, come on in,” she offered, moving out of the doorway so that they could pass.

“Thanks,” David said, taking Max’s hand and leading him inside. “Should we take our shoes off?”

“It doesn’t matter.”

He considered it for a second, glancing down at Gwen’s socked feet, before kneeling to untie his sneakers. “Take your shoes off, Max.”

Max stomped his foot. “I don’t wanna,” he protested.

“Remember what we talked about? Best behavior.”

Max huffed, crossing his arms and pouting. David pulled his own shoes off and debated what to do with Max. Normally, he’d insist he take his shoes off, which would undoubtedly lead to a tantrum. At home he could deal with that, but he didn’t want Gwen’s first impression of his kid to be a screaming, screeching mess.

After a moment, David decided the best thing to do would be to take Max’s shoes off for him. He reached over and pulled up the velcro straps on the boy’s tiny sneakers. Max didn’t seem particularly happy as David lifted his legs to pull off his shoes, but he didn’t fight it either.

Gwen watched them together; it was a little weird. She couldn’t even picture herself taking care of a younger sibling like that at this age, let alone a kid of her own. She elected not to comment on it. “We can work in the dining room,” she said instead, leading the way.

She and her family were mostly unpacked, but there were still a few boxes hanging around that they hadn’t gotten to yet. The dining room was the cleanest room they had at the moment, not a box to be seen. Gwen sat down on the far side of the table, where she had her notes and textbook waiting to be used, and David sat opposite her. He pulled his own books and a laptop out of his bag, which he left open on the floor.

Max followed David into the room, hovering beside his chair. He looked like he didn’t really want to be there.

“Think you can play quietly for a bit?” David asked him. Max could be a little unpredictable in the ways he played—sometimes he was a tornado of energy, screaming and running and damaging furniture; other days he was content to sit on David’s lap and pretend to work like him.

Max nodded as he dug through David’s bag, pulling out a plastic dinosaur and a toy car. David studied his the toys he choose with the slightest bit of a frown. He’d probably be quiet enough, but if he was playing with his car he’d be all over the place; he’d have a hard time keeping an eye on the kid and getting his work done at the same time.

Luckily, he’d had quite a bit of practice with this sort of thing. It was how he worked at home, glancing up every couple of minutes to make sure Max didn’t leave the room or accidentally tip anything over.

It was no small relief to him that Max never strayed too far. He stayed on his side of the table, crawling underneath the chairs but never going more than a few feet away. From what he could tell, Max was having his car be chased by the dinosaur—why, he had no idea. But Max seemed entertained enough, and the only noise he was making were quiet vroom sounds, so he supposed the particulars of what he was playing didn’t really matter.

David looked up at Gwen with a bright smile, pen tapping on a clean sheet of paper, ready to start writing. The fact that he was so eager to work actually pissed Gwen off a little. Seriously? she thought, raising an eyebrow. David just smiled wider.

“Anyway,” she said, pulling over her textbook and flipping to an appendix in the back. “First things first: who are we going to do this on?” She glanced over the list of presidents, not that she really remembered who had done what.

David followed her lead, turning to the same list in his book. “Well,” he said, “there are a lot of obvious ones: Washington, Lincoln, FDR… Do you care if we end up doing someone a bunch of other groups have done?”

“I literally could not care less.”

He nodded, quickly glancing over at his son before turning his attention back to the book. “In that case, maybe FDR? There should be a lot to work with.”

“Sure. Whatever.”

“Do you want to start with a short biography?”

“Do we have to?” she almost whined.

“I think so,” David said as he opened up a new slide show for them to work in.

“Fantastic,” was her flat reply, skimming through the later pages of the book to find the right chapter. David gave her a half-smile and did the same.

They were able to get through a decent portion of their project before Max started acting up, kicking the legs of David’s chair. “Stop that, Max,” he said without looking up from his laptop. Max made a frustrated sound, but didn’t stop. “Max,” he warned, but the kicks continued. He looked down at the kid, face displeased and voice firm. “Max, I said stop.”

Max’s face scrunched up, and David could tell that he was just moments away from a tantrum. He’d been so good today; what happened? Wait… shit. David glanced at his watch and nearly groaned. It was 3:34. How could he have been so stupid?

“Sorry, he’s just a little cranky,” David explained, mentally berating himself. “I usually would have put him down for his nap half an hour ago.”

It was a little weird to hear him talk like that; to watch him switch from (mostly) normal teen to father in the blink of an eye. As far as Gwen was concerned, nap times were things that adults worried about, not people her age. But somehow, it seemed natural for him to be acting like that.

Well, if David could be mature, so could she. Max needed a nap? Why not just let him take a nap? “He can sleep in my room,” she offered.

David shook his head. “No, it’s fine. I’d rather have him where I can keep an eye on him, anyway; he gets into trouble a lot.” Leaning down on his chair, he grabbed Max around the waist. “Come here, li'l monster,” he growled playfully, scooping the kid up onto his lap and planting a kiss on the top of his head.

Max squirmed a bit, but didn’t otherwise fight him. His eyelids were drooping as he looked up at David. David smiled, brushing some of the hair out of Max’s face. “It’s nap time for you, mister,” he said, gentle but firm.

Max whined, putting on what David was starting to think of as his signature pout. “Not sleepy,” he objected drowsily.

David chuckled a bit. “Too bad,” he said, pulling Max in to lean against his chest. He ignored the kid’s continued whining, switching his focus almost entirely back to his work. He did start lightly rubbing Max’s back, though; within minutes, he was asleep.

Gwen watched them over the top of her textbook. With Max asleep, it was the perfect time to ask some questions. After all, the main reason she’d wanted David to bring Max over here was so she could figure out who his mom was. But something was holding her back. Against all her expectations, she was starting to like David; he wasn’t that bad of a guy. A little weird, sure, and way too enthusiastic about everything, but he was nice. All of the things she wanted to know were extremely personal, and she was feeling a little bad about asking him to tell her all of that.

Her curiosity won out over her guilt. “So I gotta ask… Max’s mom…?”

David sighed; he’d expected the topic to come up sooner or later—it always did. He’d lost track of how many random kids at school had come up to him and demanded he “tell them everything,” just wanting something else to add to the rumor mill (and yes, he knew all about the rumors, and the gossip, and the wild speculations). He usually deflected, or shot the question down with a simple “that’s not really any of your business.” But Gwen was different; he liked her. He could easily see them becoming friends, which is something he couldn’t say for anyone else. He wanted to be open with her. “Honestly, I don’t know.”

“You… don’t know?”

David shook his head. “I don’t know who either of his birth parents are.”

“Birth parents?” The look on Gwen’s face was one of confusion, shock, and maybe a little horror. “I’m sorry, did some crazy agency seriously let you adopt a kid when you were fourteen?”

“No, it wasn’t like that.” David’s heart twinged painfully, the same way it did every time he thought about that night. He wrapped both of his arms around Max, hugging him close. “I was walking home from school one night and I found him. In a dumpster. His parents had thrown him in there and left him to die.” His throat started closing in on itself and he swallowed thickly, pleading with himself not to cry. “I know I should have taken him to the police or something, gotten him placed in foster care, but… My own parents gave up on me when I was ten. I know what it feels like to not be wanted by anybody. It’s kind of hard to explain, but I couldn’t be yet another person to just pass him along before he was even a week old! I couldn’t set him up for that sort of life.”

Gwen was at a loss for words. “Wow,” she whispered. What else was there to say to that?

David sighed again. “I know it probably doesn’t make much sense, adopting some random kid when you’re barely older than a kid yourself. But I just couldn’t do that to him, you know?”

Not really, Gwen thought, but nodded anyway. “He seems like a good kid,” she said after a while, uncomfortable with the silence.

David let out a short laugh. “You’re just lucky you caught him on a good day.”

“Oh?” Gwen said, raising an eyebrow in an open invitation for elaboration.

David gave her a half smile. “There’s a reason I call him ‘monster.‘”

“Do tell.”

“I would, but I’m pretty sure that would take the rest of the afternoon.”

“He’s that bad, huh?”

David shrugged. “I’d like to say it’s just the Terrible Twos, but he’s been fussy for as long as I’ve had him.” David’s eyes went soft, looking down at his son. “Still,” he said quietly, “I can’t say I’ve ever regretted it.”

They were silents for a few moments before a new question popped into Gwen’s head “Sorry, it’s just… why keep it some big secret?”

He looked back up at her, confusion evident. “What do you mean?”

“You could’ve just told everyone that you found him instead of, like, making it seem like you were trying to hide something. You wouldn’t’ve had to deal with everyone asking all the time.”

David took a second to choose his words. “Max is going to feel bad enough knowing that he was abandoned. He doesn’t need other people to make him feel bad for it, too.”

Gwen went quiet; she hadn’t thought of it like that. It was so easy to forget that kids were people, too. What must it feel like to know that your parents had literally thrown you out? She could imagine all of the gossip the story would spark, and poor Max would be the one to suffer most from it. It seemed almost noble for David to be shielding him from all of that.

Max was asleep for about an hour. He was a lot more subdued when he woke up, sitting quietly on David’s lap and watching him work. Every so often he would point at something on David’s screen, demanding to know what it was and what David was doing with it. Gwen smiled as she listened to him try to explain US history at a level a two-year-old could understand.

Eventually the little boy started getting antsy, so David put him down again. He reached into David’s bag and pulled out a pad of paper and a box of crayons, sitting down under his chair to draw. David watched him for a moment to make sure he was settled before turning back to Gwen so they could finish up their work.

They were just putting the final touches on it when Gwen heard the front door opening. “I’m home,” her mom called, coming up the all.

“Hey, Mom,” she called back.

Her mom came closer, turning the corner to peer into the dining room. She had her mouth open, ready to say something, but stopped when she saw David. “Oh, hello. You must be David. It’s nice to meet you,” she said, reaching out to shake his hand when she spotted Max sitting under David’s chair. “And who is this?” she cooed, bending over to smile at him. “Aren’t you just the sweetest thing?” Max stared back at her, pouting grumpily.

David grinned. “This is Max,” he told her before leaning over a bit to catch Max’s eye. “You want to come out and say hello?”

Max stayed put under David’s chair, eyeing the woman warily. She looked like one of those women who always came over and pinched his cheeks whenever David took him out somewhere. He hated having his cheeks pinched.

David gave her an apologetic look. “Sorry, he doesn’t like meeting new people that much.”

“Oh, you don’t have to apologize. I remember those days well enough from when Gwen was little.” She ignored her daughter’s spluttered “Mom!”, continuing as if nothing had happened. “It’s so sweet of you to be taking care of your little brother for the day.”

Gwen winced, but David was unaffected. Enough people had made the same mistake that he’d gotten over the awkwardness of the situation a long time ago. “Actually, Max is my son.”

“Oh,” she said, taken aback. “I’m so sorry. I-I just assumed…”

David smiled reassuringly. “It’s alright. I know it’s a little weird for someone my age to have a kid.”

She cleared her throat awkwardly, wracking her brain for something to say. “He’s adorable,” she eventually managed.

“Thank you.” David’s smile never faltered. Gwen’s mom gave him a small nod before retreating into the kitchen. He watched her go before turning back to Gwen, still smiling. She opened her mouth to say something, apologize maybe, but David lifted his hand to stop her. It’s fine, he managed to say without speaking.

Gwen nodded absently, turning her gaze down to the table. She felt bad, even though she told herself she shouldn't—David wasn’t upset, she hadn’t been the one to make the mistake, there was no way her mom could have known; it didn’t matter. The silence between them stretched on, and Gwen hated every second of it.

“I’m thinking spaghetti for dinner tonight,” Gwen’s mom called from the kitchen after a few moments.

“Sounds good,” Gwen called back. She glanced up at David, and suddenly it seemed a little rude to be talking about this in front of him just as he was about to leave. “Do you want to stay for dinner?”

“No, that’s okay; I wouldn’t want to impose.”

“It’s no imposition,” Gwen’s mom quickly assured him, trying to make up for her gaffe.

“Believe me, it is. Max is very picky; half the time I can’t even get him to eat anything at home. It’s very nice of you to offer, but it’ll be easier if we just go.”

“Are you sure?” Gwen asked, feeling almost disappointed.

David nodded. “Thanks, though.”

He saved the slide show one last time before closing his laptop, sliding it and his books back into his bag. He leaned over to look at Max, telling him, “It’s time to go, now. Clean up your toys.”

“Do I hafta?” Max whined, pouting up at David.

“Once we’re all cleaned up, we can head to Prof’s for dinner,” he bargained. Prof’s was a diner the two of them liked; it was far from healthy, and usually David tried to avoid feeding Max that sort of junk, but he figured he deserved some sort of treat for being so well behaved all day. Besides, he was running out of foods Max ate at home.

“…okay,” he said quietly, even though he didn’t look particularly taken with the idea. His pout stayed stubbornly in place as he reluctantly began to gather up his things.

David let out a barely-audible sigh of relief, thanking his lucky stars that Max wasn’t fighting him on this. In fact, all things considered, he’d been almost unbelievably good all day. David didn’t know what he’d done for karma to grant him such a cooperative kid today, but it must have been something amazing.

Max shoved his toys into David’s bag, handing him his drawings so they wouldn’t get crumpled. David did a quick once-over of the floor to make sure nothing had been overlooked. Thus assured that Max had gotten everything, he zipped his bag closed and stood up, hefting it onto his shoulder. “C'mon, let’s go put our shoes on.”

David made his way back into the front hall, Max following quietly behind him. When David knelt down to pull on his sneakers, the kid hovered at his back, glancing behind them every couple of seconds. Gwen had followed them into the hall, stopping a few feet away at the edge of the den. She watched them, for lack of a better thing to look at.

When David had finished tying his shoes, he stood up, guiding his son towards proper politeness. “Max, you want to say thanks to Gwen for having us over?”

Max was still for a moment, eyeing the stack of papers David was holding, before he stood up on his toes to reach for them. David dropped his arm down, trying to figure out what Max wanted with the papers. After a moment, it clicked. “You want to give her one of your drawings?” Max nodded, so David spread the pictures out for him to look at. “Which one do you want to give her?”

The kid looked over his options for a moment before selecting one. He studied it briefly, then shyly slid into David’s side. He turned his gaze over to Gwen, who was staring at a photo hung on the wall and pretending like she wasn’t listening.

David gave Max a reassuring smile and nudged him towards Gwen. “Go ahead,” he said softly.

Max shuffled over to Gwen, pulling on her pants leg to get her attention. “Gwen?”

She smiled down at him. “Yes, Max?”

He looked up at her nervously for a moment before holding the drawing up for her.

Gwen gasped, as if she hadn’t been standing right there while he and David were discussing it. “Is this for me?” she asked, feigning surprise.

Max nodded, watching her like he was trying to gauge her reaction.

“It’s beautiful! Oh, I love it! Thanks so much,” she gushed, and Max beamed. Truth be told, she had no idea what it was supposed to be a picture of; it was just a bunch of multicolored scribbles. Not that she was going to let on about that—he was just a kid, after all.

She caught David’s eye as he walked over to them, flashing him a small smile which he eagerly returned. He stopped behind his son, resting a hand on the back of his head. Max twisted around to look up at him, smile brighter than the sun.

“She liked it!” he exclaimed happily, bouncing excitedly on the balls of his feet.

“That’s awesome, bud!” he said, giving Max’s hair a quick ruffle. The boy giggled, a sound that was music to his ears. “But we have to go now. Why don’t you go put on your shoes?” Max turned his head to look from Gwen to him, still smiling proudly, before walking towards the door and plopping down on the floor, grabbing his shoes to put on.

“You should feel honored,” David told Gwen, watching Max to make sure he didn’t need any help.

“Why’s that?”

David smiled. “You’re the first person he’s ever given a picture to.”

That probably shouldn’t have made her as happy as it did. “I’ll treasure it forever,” she half-joked, holding the drawing over her heart.

He chuckled lightly, turning his attention back to Max. He had his shoes on and was waiting for him by the door. “All set to go, monster?”

Max nodded as David and Gwen walked over to him. Gwen pulled open the door for them; it had cooled off considerably since the afternoon. David pulled Max’s hoodie out of his bag and helped the kid put it on, glad that he had brought it despite the warmth of the afternoon.

“See you on Monday,” David said to Gwen as he took Max’s hand, leading him down the steps.

“Bye Gwen!” Max yelled to her, far too loud.

Gwen smiled and waved back. “See ya!” she called. As she shut the door, she made a mental note to pick up some kid-friendly foods for Max to have when she invited them back next weekend.

Past the Clouds, We’ll Find the Stars [CS FF Oneshot]

This was supposed to be a little oneshot that was sparked from my headcanon about CS adopting. It took on a life of its own and…well, here it is. Thank you to @peggyyswan for being my ride or die, for always flailing with me and for reading this via photos of my laptop screen as I went along. I’ll post it on FFnet soon.

CS + Adoption and more: A dash of angst, a sprinkling of humor & a whole lotta fluff.

Title: Past the Clouds, We’ll Find the Stars
Rating: T
Words: 8.6K

“So…what do you think about adopting?”

It wasn’t a question Killian had been prepared for. Not at 11pm on a Monday night as they cuddled in bed watching Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives. It struck him as more of an over-dinner conversation, or one inspired by watching TV shows involving infants, as opposed to run-down shacks serving questionable-looking yet apparently delicious meals.

He shifted to find his wife’s eyes, but she kept them fixed on the television screen, and his brow creased as he considered her. She was snuggled into his side, hand tracing idle patterns through his chest hair, cheeks aglow and hair tousled from their recent tumble between the sheets. But he had a feeling that the color on her cheeks had more to do with her question than their earlier pleasurable activities.

“Are you referring to a puppy or a child, darling?”
